Chapter 9: For The Ones We Love

You were flying faster than you ever had before, you had a job to do, and you were determined to get it done before the day ends. Now was the time to think for yourself who you really loved, and not use the things you saw in your dreams as any evidence of their love.

"First stop, Spitfire" you say while making a sharp turn towards the Ponyville library, hoping that Twilight would know where she was.

Knock. Knock.

"We're open!" you heard Twilight say from somewhere deep in the library.

"Hello?" you said while heading inside.

"Oh! Hi there Choco, is there something I can help you with?"

"Yeah, do you know where Spitfire is?"

"Yes, she is actually upstairs right now, why?"

"Well, I have to-"

"You have to what?" Twilight asks, confused as to why you cut yourself off.

"Why is she staying here, shouldn't she be in some fancy hotel or something?"

"Well, actually, she said she wanted to stay in case you showed up here at some point tonight"

"Can I speak to her?"

"Of course, I'll go get her" Twilight responded while trotting towards what you guessed were the bedrooms.

How odd that she stayed here in case I wanted her, you think to yourself. You weren't sure if it was a stroke of luck, or maybe she had what you remember your mom always saying, "a woman's intuition", whatever that means. Your thoughts were cut off by Spitfire coming in the room, with her hair a mess. Obviously she had managed to fall asleep at some point.

"Hi Spitfire" you say while suppressing a giggle.

"Oh, hi Choco, is there something you wanted to talk about?" she asked, sounding quiet tired.

"Yeah, but, uh," you say while looking at Twilight, "can we go up to a cloud or something?"

"Sure, let's go"

You quickly apologize to Twilight, as she had taken your words as an insult, then you headed up to meet with Spitfire on an overhead cloud.

"So what did you want to talk about?" she asked, sounding more awake this time.

"Well, I wanted to know one thing"

"What?"

"Do you still love me, you know, even after I almost killed myself by flying off like a moron?" you ask sheepishly.

Her response was quite clear, only this time, you knew what to do. After breaking the kiss she said, "Of course I do, you came back, you survived, there's no way I could hate you for that"

"Thanks, now I have something else to ask you"

"Anything for you" she said while nuzzling against your chest.

"Can you wait for me at the library tomorrow?"

"Sure, but why?"

"Because, I plan to end this tomorrow"

"End what?"

"The troubles of having a few mares after me" you say with a wink.

"How are you going to do that?"

After you explained your plan to her, you flew off towards Rainbow's house. This time was different though, you weren't sure if you were about to make an ass out of yourself or not. Before you could land you noticed a multicolored blur flying towards you.

"Hey Rainbow" you say as the blur stopped in front of you.

"Hey! What were you doing coming to my house this late at night, huh?" she said in a suggestive tone.

"Well, I wanted to ask you something"

"What?"

"Do you love me?"

Her response was fairly obvious, seeing as her face flushed and she let out a slight squee of fear. "How did you know?! Did Pinkie tell you or something, or was it Fluttershy?!"

"I, uh, figured it out myself" you said, unsure of how to say you saw it in a dream.

"So, can I ask you something else?" you say while Rainbow tried to calm down.

"Sure, anything"

"Can you wait for me here tomorrow?"

"Uh, ya, I guess, but why?"

After you explained your plan to Rainbow you then decided your last stop, Pinkie's place. You weren't sure if she would be there, knowing how crazy she was. She could be partying in the Everfree for all you knew, but either way, you were going to find her and talk to her.

"Hi Choco!"

"AH!" you screamed in surprise, seeing as you were in the air, and suddenly you had a passenger, "Pinkie?! What are you doing on my back?!"

"Well, I was in my balloon, and I saw you flying to the bakery, and thought it might be fun to jump on your back and ride you for a while"

"What were you doing in your balloo-" you began to say, extremely confused.

"You know what, never mind, I need to talk to you" you say after your confusion wore off.

"Okie Dokie Loki!"

You quickly found a place to land, and as she climbed off your back you were hit by a smell somewhat similar to cotton candy.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

"Pinkie, do you love me more than a friend?" you ask her as she bounced around.

Her bouncing suddenly stopped, and you noticed her change quite rapidly from her usual pink toned, to a much darker shade. You quickly ran up to her as you noticed her hair deflate, obviously she was quite depressed by you finding out. Although, after you gave her a quick hug, she returned to her normal, crazy, over the top self.

"Does this mean you love me too?" she asked while nuzzling against your chest.

"Maybe, but anyways..."

For the last time that night you explained your plan.

After making  Pinkie understand that she had to stay at the bakery tomorrow you headed towards Fluttershy's place, and were quite surprised by who you found there with her.

"Hey Soarin" you said as Fluttershy let you into her house.

"Uh, hey, what are you doing here?" he asked, obviously a bit frightened by you being there.

"I came to talk to Fluttershy about something important, what about you?"

"Same for me" he responded while turning slightly red. Apparently he fell for Fluttershy at some point during his stay in Ponyville.

"Do you even like animals, or does she just make really good pies?"

"Shut up, it's not like that!"

"If the redness of your face is any indication, it is about that, either way, I think it's good you're here considering what I need help with"

You took a seat as Fluttershy came back into the main room with some tea for you and Soarin. "So what is it you wanted to talk about Choco?" she asked while taking a seat opposite you.

"Well, I need some help making a really big decision"

"Okay, I'm happy to help! So what is it?"

"Well, uh, the thing is, I know that 3 mares are in love with me, but I don't know which one to choose, or even how I'm going to let the others down without crushing them"

"Well, I know one of the mares is Spitfire, but how did you get other lovers in such a short time?" Soarin asked, obviously interested in the conversation now.

"Well, of the other two, one of them is Rainbow Dash, and the other is Pinkie"

"Oh my gosh, they finally told you?!" Fluttershy said, while at the edge of her seat.

"Ya, but I'm not sure which one to pick, I like all of them equally, and I just want some help to make the final decision"

"Ok, well, what do you need us to do?"

"Well, basically, I need you to convince me to pick one of them"

"Uh, well, that shouldn't be to hard, right Fluttershy?" Soarin asked while moving slightly closer to her.

"Okay, let's begin" Fluttershy said with a look of determination, she obviously really wanted to help to make this decision.

After talking with Soarin and Fluttershy for about three hours, and coming to a decision thanks to it, you decided to leave the two love birds alone, as throughout the night they had been nuzzling each other. Your decision was made, now it was time to find a comfortable cloud to sleep on, and tomorrow, your choice was going to be revealed to everyone...
