It was an average day for all ponies, and the pegusus were to create warm and sunny weather for the week. All was peaceful that day, all was normal. Pinkie collected apples from Sweet Apple Acres for her bakery, Twilight studied, Rainbow flew, Fluttershy took care of her animals, Spike slept, Applejack bucked apples, and Zacoura collected ingredients for potions. All was peaceful. But a storm was brewing that not even Pinkie Pie's Pinky sense would detect, for as Zacoura ran out of heart's desire plant and scavenged for more, she came across a patch of snow. The everfree forest was known for un-natural events to occur, but save the fact for clouds moving on their own, the weather rarely differed so severely from Ponyville to the forest. And this intrigued Zacoura, she had to move farther into the frost to find what was causing it, and the farther she traveled, the colder it got, Zacoura soon found the center of the frost and saw an ice sculpture of a pony wearing a cloak, but before Zacoura could get to it, a wretched howl was heard from above, and as Zacoura looked up, she saw a large group of windigos, circling the statue... no... it wasn't a statue or a sculpture, it was a pony, encased in ice as the windigo surrounded it. Zacoura knew she couldn't just let the pony stay encased in ice, she had to help him. But she didn't have anything she could do. Zacoura was a zebra and a potion brewer, not a unicorn and a spell caster. But there was one unicorn that she knew could handle the job if anyone could. She left for the home of Twilight. But little did Zacoura know that her discovery of that single pony, would change the lives of everypony in Equestria. This is a story of destruction, a story of chaos, and this is how our story begins.....

"Twilight, Twilight follow me, and and make haste! If we delay any longer, a pony's life may be erased!"
"Zacoura? What do you mean? Is somepony in danger?"
"Quickly now, hurry! no time to explain, please follow me swiftly, and prepare for arctic terrain."
and with that, the two left for the forest, neither one exactly sure what they were getting into. They dashed through the forest and ran through the snow, until at last they reached the frozen pony.
"This is a frozen pony, who has met a chilly fate. I hope that we were fast enough, I hope it's not too late" Said Zacoura
"This place is crawling with windigos!It's going to take a huge repulsion spell just to get them to go away before we can even get started on melting this ice!"
"Twilight, just try. We both know that you must. just concentrate on your spell, and in your talents, please have trust."
"If you say so Zacoura..."
So Twilight focused her entire being into the spell, she knew that a pony's life was on the line, and that she could not fail here, and failing would be the last thing she did. The spell that she had conjured had sent the windigos running, though both Twilight and Zacoura knew it wouldn't last for long. Twilight then cast a simple spell to melt the ice that encased the cloaked pony, yet he remained unconcious for the moment. It looked to be a colt between childhood and adulthood. He was an odd color of grey, and his mane was mostly black, but in this black were all sorts of colors, reds, greens, blues, purples, yes, all the colors of the rainbow and more, yet they had only shown when you looked from certain angles and at any given moment, over ninety percent looked black, just as a black opal when you stare directly at it. But the most peculiar thing about this colt was it's cutie mark, it didn't match on both sides. on his left side was a white tear-like shape that curved and swirled slightly with a black spot in the center of the wide end, however on the right side was a black shaped tear, upside down compaired to the white one, but it had one white spot in it's center. Like a Yin on one side and a Yan on the other. Zacoura and Twilight carried the mysterious pony back to Zacoura's hut.

"Ugh..."
The mysterious pony had begun to awaken
"wh.... what is this place" it began to speak
"Hello there...." Twilight said to him
"Ah!... pl-please, get back!"
"What? What's wrong? I'm not going to hurt you..."
"It's not my safety that I'm worried about here. You would be doing yourself a huge favor to leave me alone and let me go."
"Let you go? after we saw your fate! It seems you don't realize you're practically windigo bait!" Said Zacoura
"I meant to ask about that..." Twilight began
"Why were those windigos feeding off of you, they only tend to feed off of hatred."
"It's not important to you."
"But it's important to you, obviously! Here, my friends would be glad to help you"
"No, no I.... ugh!" The strange pony grabbed it's head in pain and fainted.
Twilight took him to Fluttershy's cottage.

Fluttershy was hiding in the corner...
"Come on, Fluttershy, he's unconscious and I know you'd make a better welcoming committee in this
situation than anyone else"
"But why not Applejack?" she whimpered from the corner
"Because Pinky Pie is with her on the farm currently, and if that girl sets one eye on this guy,
she's going to spaz out because he's new here, and that's not the feeling we're trying to set right away, i't be worse than it turned out with Cranky Donkey! besides, he's unconscious, what's the worst that could happen"
just then he began to wake up
".... my.... head.... You, you moved me didn't you? Tell me, where am I? Please this is important!"
Twilight pulled Fluttershy out of her corner, who was too scared to do anything but sit there staring at the mysterious pony.
"I'm Twilight, this is Fluttershy, and you are currently on the outskirts of ponyville"
"Ponyville you say...? I've never heard of it, but no matter... Better here than Canterlot. I suppose I could stay for a little, but I can't stay here long."
"So you'll stay then?! Great, I have an extra bed in my library."
Fluttershy whispered to Twilight
"Alright, I'll ask him... Hey... umm, What's your name?"
"They call me Tenebris"
"okay, Tenebris... umm, why is it that your cutie marks don't match on both sides?"Tenebris fell silent for a while before speaking
"....That.... is a long story, that I hope for your sake you never have to hear..."
"Tenebris.... what kind of name is that? I've never heard of an earth pony, pegasus, or unicorn named that"
Fluttershy whispered to Twilight again
"She wants to know what you are... I mean, what kind of pony, if you could take off your cloak and
let us see your wings, horn, or lack there of, we-"
"My cloak must stay on... may we... go to the library? I am eager to see what books are here."
"Oh, eager to get started? alright, we can leave, by the way, what kind of books do you like?"
"Well first I need to check you history books... I want to see how long I was trapped in that ice."

Tenebris was quiet for most of the day, but the way he read the books seemed almost frantic. He was mumbling
to himself as he searched the shelves
"... all useless, so they were smart enough to cover their tracks..."
"Excuse me?" Twilight asked
"It's nothing" responded Tenebris
"No... you said something about covering tracks, what are you talking about?"
"It would be better if you didn't know."
"You've said practically the same thing about everything I've asked you today"
"Because it's all true."
"Would you rather talk to the princess about it? All of my friends and I write to her about lessons we've learned,
and sometimes it helps to just-"
"I do NOT want to get anywhere NEAR HER!"
Twilight stopped and was silent for a bit
"... you must have been in the ice for quite some time, you probably come from when Discord ruled, but why would you say "her?""
"I mean Celestia, I must never be in any contact with her whatsoever!"
"hey! Do you mean that as an insult?!"
"If you knew my story, you would understand, but you don't, so please don't ask. I don't mean it as an insult, but I'm not going to follow her either! I can understand you jumping to conclusions, but tell me. Why are you so inclined to follow her? I've got nothing againsed her, but why does everypony treat anypony who isn't with her to be against her? Can't there be a neutral? Or would the world see me as a monster for who I am even though I wanted nothing to do with what my purpose in life was supposed to be."
Twilight was silent again
"I'm going to bed, I'm sorry I was a little harsh, and I really must learn to still my tounge. But since I already said what I did, and I know you're going to ask what I meant by "seeing me as a monster for what I am", I'll answer you the same way I've answered everything else... It's better that you do not know."
As Tenebris turned and walked toward his bed, Twilight saw the strangest thing in him.... Even stranger than anything before. For just a moment, his Yin and Yan cutie-mark appeared half transparent.

Dear Princess Celestia-

I'm not sure if I'm learning a lesson in friendship, but I just have so many questions. What do you do if somepony obviously needs help, but is too.... I don't know how to explain it, is he shy? is he afraid? He just seems so bitter and cold yet I can tell he doesn't mean to be evil. Every one of his actions contradicts it's self, he seems to be shy since he won't tell you anything about himself, yet he is assertive, blunt, and quick to speak his mind. He doesn't seem happy, yet he doesn't seem sad either... When he got angry, he reaised his voce, but he seemed more full of frustration that fury, and right afterwards, he went right back to his normal self... I'm sorry let me back up a bit... Today I met somepony named Tenebris. Do you know anything about him? He seemed to know who you were, but then again, who in Equestria hasn't? But this.... it seems different. He said he didn't want to go anywhere near you, but then said he didn't mean it as an insult... What could he mean? I know he probably doesn't want me telling you about him, but I don't know what else to do. He obviously needs something and you probably have a bigger clue than me! Zacoura and I found him frozen by windigoes in the Everfree forest, and we set him free... yet he doesn't come off as being full of hatred... he doesn't really come off as anything... not happy, not sad, not angry, not anything... Like he has no emotion, he simply speaks what he sees and then drops the subject. And his cutie mark... It isn't the same on both sides of his flank, and I swear I saw it start to vanish! His mane looks like a black opal, full of every color... and yet no color at the same time. He wears a cloak all the time and refuses to take it off, is he even a pony? He said something about being a monster and I don't get what he meant... Every time I ask him a question he says that it's better if I don't know. He's read almost every history book in the library, and yet he still continues to read... not like me, not to learn information, but it's almost like he's looking for something... I think I'll see if he wants to come with me to Canterlot to see if they have any other history books. Maybe he'll find what he's looking for in a larger library. I just don't know what to think about this pony... and yet, I get the feeling he wants to answer my questions... like he feels pain every time he refuses to answer one of my questions. Who is he really?

Tenebris lifted his head from a book
"Yes?" he responded
"I noticed you've read pretty much every history and myth book in this library"
Tenebris remained silent
"Would you like to come with me to Canterlot to their library to see if they have what you're looking for? from the way you're frantically looking through pages, I can tell you're searching for something."
"..... no..... not Canterlot.... I'm sorry, Twilight, it's hard to explain.... I just can't go there..."
"would you like for me to pick up a book from the library there?"
"... You would do that?"
"Sure, I know what it's like not to have the information you want, being a student and all. What book do you want"
"I'm going to need a book on myths and legends since I doubt what I want will be in an official history book... it will probably be in one written just after Luna's imprisonment on the moon. I need information on a certain group..."
"What group would that be?"
"It's better if you don't know..."
"How can I find it if I don't know the group's name?"
"I suppose you are right... The group's name was "Alicorn Alience""
"Okay, I'll be sure to look." Twilight turned to walk out the door
"...... Twilight...." Tenibris called quietly
"hmm?"
".......... thank you.... I really appreciate this." Tenebris said
"Don't mention it" Twilight responded

"Ah!"
Spike had just woken up that morning and saw Tenebris for the first time, since he had arrived at Twilight's relatively late at night
"Wh-who are you?"
"Hmm?" Tenebris was a little surprised at looking up from his book to see a baby dragon
"Are you new in Ponyville or something?"
"You could say that." Tenebris said
"So, uh..." Spike began
"Tenebris" The gray stallion said
"so, Tenebris... you said you just came here, where did you come from?"
"... I don't think I can tell you that much..."
"What?"
"I don't find it relevant"
"If you say so... by the way, the name's Spike"
"Well, good morning to you then, Spike."
"By the way, where's Twilight?"
"She went to Canterlot Archives to rent a few books not found here."
"What a surprise..." Spike said sarcastically "...huh? What's this?"
Spike had noticed the note that Twilight had written before she left
"I should probably send this to Celestia."
"What?"
"Twilight often leaves notes for me to send when she goes places, She's studying under her teaching and has to report what she learns every now and then."
"..."
Spike lit the paper and watched it's ashes be swept away by the wind

By the time Twilight had arrived at the library, Celestia had already gotten the letter and was waiting for her to arrive at Canterlot archives
"Greetings my student."
"Celestia, what are you doing here?"
"I received your letter, and I don't know exactly what to think... You said his cutie marks don't match? Are you sure?""Yeah, I'm sure, I've never seen anything like it before."
"Neither has any other pony for over a thousand years..."
"You mean this actually has happened before?"
"Well... yes, but the way I see it their are two things that could be happening."
"Well, it just so happens that I was looking for answers here. So what are your ideas?"
"Prepare yourself, Twilight, for neither of them are very good."
"What do you mean?"
"The first possibility is that he could be a changeling."
"I never really thought of that... but I've never even seen a pony with an opal mane, changelings usually take the form of loved ones, right?"
"The second possibility is that he's an imitar."
"A what?"
"An imitar is a pony who denies their true self and lives an imitation."
"What do you mean?"
"When a pony gets their cutie mark, it's because they figure out who they are."
"I already knew that. But what does that have to do with someone being an imi... whatever?"
"Well say that somepony doesn't like who they really are, they know perfectly well what they're supposed to be, but they don't really want to be that kind of pony. So they and hide who they are and imitate something different."
"But that doesn't make sense, everypony's cutie mark is who they are, what they like, why would you not like what you like?"
"I don't know, but the fact that he won't give you any information other than his name makes me think that he may be an imitar... most ponies have forgotten about the existence of them. Another sign of somepony being an imitar is their cutie mark disappearing like you said."
"I can't believe something like that exists..."
"Twilight, did he ever tell you what he was looking for in those books?"
"Yes... The "Alicorn Alliance""
"The Alicorn Alliance? they haven't been heard from since Luna was banished to the moon!"
"Excuse me, princess... but what was the Alicorn Alliance?"
"My rule hasn't always gone un-challenged, Twilight..."
"What do you mean?"
"Shortly after I was forced to send Luna to the moon, a rebellion took place among the other ponies, led by 2 Alicorns, their names were "Fosca" and "Umbrus". They thought that I had banished my sister because I didn't want another alicorn compromising my seat on the throne. They knew that Luna had been corrupted, but they thought that banishment to the moon forever was too harsh. Keep in mind that she wasn't supposed to escape, and the only reason she did was because the very stars themselves came to her aid."
"So what did they do?"
"Many of them thought that since I sent Luna to the moon without attempting to compromise, and that I only used her corruption as an excuse to obtain total control over Equestria. So they decided that they would form their own society. Many ponies agreed with this, they set off into the Everfree forest, and haven't been heard from since. I tried to convince them not to go, but Fosca, Umbrus, and their followers left anyway... I have no idea what could have happened to them all."
"But why doesn't anypony remember any of this?"
"A thousand years is a long time, Twilight. Only alicorns and some unicorns live that long. Most ponies have forgotten about Canterlot's hidden gem labrynth that Queen Chrysalis trapped you in also, so it's to be expected that they would forget about the alicorn alliance too."
"Wow... I don't know what to say... But thank you Princess, I don't know how long it would take to find a book with that kind of information... However I still promised Tenebris to bring him back a book."
"I can show you where to find a book with that kind of information... But I want you to try to talk to Tenebris. I need you to at least try to get him to bring the other ponies of the alicorn alliance back if their are any other than him."
"You have my word, Princess."

"Tenebris, I'm back!" Twilight called.
he flipped the page of the book he was reading with his hoof but didn't do much else to greet her.
"Did you find anything?" Tenebris asked
"Actually yes... and I have a few questions as well."
"........." Tenebris paused with his reading before looking up and sighing
"...this is why I say it's better if you don't know...." he said
"But how can I help if I don't know"
"I never said I wanted help with anything but finding a book... I don't need anything else"
"Tenebris, come on, that lie was worse than one of Applejack's"
"...Applejack?"
"She's a friend of mine, she's as honest as it gets, so if she tries lying it's not hard to figure out. Then again, that was during our little run in with Discord, but that's all finished now"
"He was a rather cruel dictator... enslaving us like that, If it weren't for Luna and Celestia, I don't know where we'd be... but I still don't think it justifies what Celestia did to her..."
"What? You said that like Celestia was the one who defeated him this time around."
"This time around? Discord was turned to stone, yes? By Luna and Celestia wielding the elements of harmony?"
"Yes, but that's ancient pony history. Did you think that Celestia and Luna did it again or something?"
"You confuse me when you say "again"... unless..... Twilight, how long ago was Discord imprisoned?"
"Which time? The first or second time?"
"The first time, I guess."
"hmm... well, it was before Luna was banished, and she broke free after a thousand years, so it would have to have been just a little over a millennia"
".... I've been in the ice that long...."
"what?"
"Twilight, can't you see? I don't remember Discord's second rising because I've been frozen since his FIRST defeat! you said Luna broke free, the last news I heard of her, she had been banished! That's when-" Tenebris cut himself off
"...That's when the Alicorn Allience was formed..." Twilight finished.
"...Yes... You did your research, I see..."
"But... why would you want to hide that from me?"
"Their is some knowledge out there that everypony would be happier not knowing... How much information did you find on the alliance?"
"Not much... after Fosca and Umbrus left with their followers, they were never seen, nor heard from again."
"That's a relief."
"What? But... but I thought you were..."
"You thought I was with the alliance, didn't you?"
"Well... yes..."
"Well your assumption is incorrect... I want nothing to do with those fools... not anymore"
"Not anymore?"
"...."
"So you were with the alliance at one point?"
"....yes... at one point"
"Why did you quit?"
"That... is the bit of information that everypony would be better not knowing... The alliance seemed good at first, but it's intentions eventually became corrupt... and so did the ponies in it. So I left, and that is all that you need to know."
"...Is that how you became an imaitar?"
"... you have done more research than I had first assumed."
"Yes, and I know that what you have can't be your real cutiemark."
"No. It isn't, I regret to say... They say that when you earn your cutiemark, you can feel it appear. They say it fills you with joy... but did you hear of the pain from an imitar mark?
Twilight remained silent
"First the shadow appears where you'll be receiving it... the darkness feels so cold and empty, until it heats up... not like the gentle warmth of a healing winter hearth, but a searing burning heat that etches the image of what people will forever see you as into your flank. Through the heat it feels like the shadow rends your flesh and tears through your muscle and nerve. and when at last it fades away, the scar-like label of the imitar remains on you with a patch of fresh blood surrounding your new emblem. Your new mask. Your new charade..."
"That sounds horrible..."
"Horrible, yes, but necessary, I would be even less happy had I fulfilled what my cutiemark would have been. But let's not talk about that."
"Tenebris... it's clear you have a lot to hide, but so far all this that you are telling me... I don't see why you would want to keep it only to yourself."
"When somepony learns one thing, they continue to another, if they find out that a well known friend has a secret, they will find it eventually... however, if they know nothing of a pony, they will be curious at first, but it will soon fade as their attempts to uncover the mystery end fruitlessly."
"Did somepony say mystery?" A third voice chimed in
"The last case we had was fun, did someone eat the cake's cake again?" it said
"Oh, no..." Sighed Twilight
she had forgotten that Sweet Apple Acres would only keep Pinkie busy for a day at most, and it was obvious that more than one day had passed since Zacoura and Twilight had first freed Tenebris. Now that their was nothing stopping Pinkie Pie, who knows how Tenebris would react? She seemed to come out of nowhere, as always and stood next to Tenebris, staring at him and taking in a huge gasp as she did to Twilight her first day in Ponyville... then the talking began...
"Oh-my-gosh-You're-new-here-and-I've-never-seen-you-before-and-I-knew-something-new-and-exiting-was-going-to-happen-because-I-got-a-new-pinkie-sense-combo-that-I've-never-gotten-before-which-means-that-something-new-and-exiting-is-going-to-happen-and-"
"Pinkie!" Twilight interrupted
Tenebris remained silent
"Twilight, but he's new! and I have to be friends with every pony, so-" Pinkie stopped mid-sentence
"Whoa! Your cutie mark doesn't match on both sides! Why not? That's cool, what's it mean? Why are you wearing a cloak?"
"Pinkie!!!!!" Twilight said again
"Oooooh~ I'm sorry, Twilight, I know, I'm missing the welcoming song! Nice catch, buddy!"
"Pinkie, that's not what I-"
but it was too late. Pinkie has already brought in the machine she brought out to introduce new Ponies, and began with her song...

Tenebris stood unable to comprehend what was going on.
"Wait for it...." Pinkie said
not 3 seconds later, confetti flew out of an oven on the machine as Tenebris raised his hoof in front of his eyes to prevent getting the pieces of colored paper in it. But the air blast of the confetti cannon lifted the back of his cloak for just a second, and Twilight saw 2 wings underneath it, on both he wore some sort of gold plating, but she couldn't make it out clearly in the small amount of time it was visible. But one thing was certain, he had wings...
Then came the cake mix, not even cooked, just raw cake mix that shot out of a cannon on top of the machine straight towards Tenebris.
Tenebris reacted quickly, and instinctively without thinking; and with a flash of cyan light, a small force field appeared around him as the cake mix sprayed all over it.
The hood of his cloak fell backwards, relieving a sharp horn, glowing with the magic he was using.
The glow faded, and so did the force field, leaving a small circle of clean floor in the library.
as Twilight wiped the cake mix off of herself, she saw Tenebris and the clear area around him.
"You're.... You're an alicorn!"

"You're an alicorn?!?" Twilight asked
"I don't see any wings on him" Pinkie said
"They're under his cloak."
Tenebris stayed silent
"Tenebris, I know you didn't want to earlier... but can you please remove your cloak?"
"... I guess I've nothing to hide now..." was his response as he took off the cloak, revealing his wings.
They, just like the rest of this particular pony, were rather peculiar. the back of them was covered
by a golden plate-like armor on each side, and long feathers came out of the golden base of his wings.
"Is that armor?"
"Not really... as you can see, it spreads the feathers. I make my magic energy jump from feather to feather and manifest in the air that it travels through to reach the next feather. It creates almost a net of magic through my wings, it increases my wing power and allows me to reach greater speeds, pull heavier objects, and have greater control. However, it drains my energy rather quickly when I use it... So it's typically used to get away from some place quickly, and out-fly trouble in time to find a place to rest. Unicorns can use it too, but it requires even more magic since they don't have feathers to use as a base for the magic to flow through."
"That seems like a useful devise... how fast CAN you fly?"
"not sure, I've only used these once. When I was running from the Alicorn Alliance camp, I wanted to make sure that if anyone wanted to take me back, They wouldn't be able to catch up. and nopony did either. When I stopped to rest, a group of windigos must have found me. and well, here I am, at least a millennia in the future"
"What? do you mean a millennia?" Pinkie was confused
"I'll explain later." Twilight said
"Aren't you even the slightest bit sad about not knowing where any of your friends are? I mean, a thousand years is a long time..." Twilight was still curious about Tenebris' past
"All my friends I had to leave behind already when I first set hoof into the everfree forest with the Alicorn Alliance. and everyone who was there, I'm not upset about leaving... the only thing that upsets me is that Umbrus and Fosca could still be alive... They are alicorns, so they do live extraordinarily long. Like I said, the Alicorn Alliance was corrupt, I'm glad I'm never going to see any of those ponies again."
"You mean you didn't even think about going back?" Twilight asked
"Hey Twilight." another voice called from outside before Tenebris could answer
Tenebris looked at the door to see who was coming
"Hey, I was wondering if the new Daring Do book had come out yet, and- hey... cool wings!"
Rainbow Dash had come through the door and saw the new pony.
"Thank you, er..."
"Rainbow Dash" the pegasus said confidently.
"Yes, My name is Tenebris."
"Well, it's getting pretty crowded over here... and you never really did look around the town, did you? I guess we may as well go outside and show you around if you're going to be living here."
"Hey, I'm up for that, I vote we go to Sweet Apple Acres first. it's a decent distance away, so that means I can see if those wings of yours are just for show or not! If you're feeling lucky!" Rainbow Dash was eager for a new challenge
"You wish to race me? You're awfully cocky, I can see already."
"Maybe, but I'm awfully good, too!"
"Don't worry, Tenebris, she really just wants to test her own ability rather than race for the sole purpose of rubbing it in your face if she wins." Twilight said
"What do you mean IF I win?" Rainbow Dash was ready to fly out of there any second.
"Actually, I am curious to see that special armor in action." Twilight said "You may as well."
"I suppose I have nothing to lose..." Said Tenebris
"Alright! There you go! now, sweet apple acres is over by the entrance to the Everfree forest"
"It's just a little North of Fluttershy's house, the Pony in the cottage where you first well... really met me"
"Are you ready, Tenebris?"
"In a moment..."
"A moment?! Why should you have to wait for any th-..." Rainbow Dash was speechless as Tenebris activated his armor.
His horn glowed it's cyan color as Tenebris closed his eyes to concentrate. Soon afterward, flecks of light appeared and dissipated between his feathers. All colors were flashing from feather to feather as the small flashes danced in in their own shimmer.

"...wow...." not even Rainbow Dash could help but let out this expression of amazement as she stared at the magic dancing in Tenebris' wings
"Are you prepared? I can't sustain this very long..."
"Wasn't I just asking you that? I'm ready to fly whenever, you just go ahead, I'll let you take a head start!"
"If you say so..."
Tenebris took off very quickly, the wing power from his take off speed was enough to send a gust of wind into the others.
"Wow... are you sure you can beat him?" Twilight asked
"Are you kidding? He's fast, yes, but I haven't seen any sonic rainboom from him yet!" Rainbow Dash took off and yet another gust overtook Twilight and Pinkie...
Raindbow Dash could still see Tenebris in the distance, and she was determined to get in front. They small dot became larger and larger in Rainbow Dash's sight until they were neck and neck. Rainbow Dash slowed down a bit to say something
"You're pretty fast, but I've been saving my best stuff for when you can see it!"
Rainbow Dash Accelerated again until she got a relatively safe distance in front, it was time to show off, and Rainbow Dash LOVED showing off.
POW!!! a rainbow circle appeared in the sky like a firework, and the multi-colored streak was flung across the sky as Rainbow rocketed through the air and appeared at Sweet Apple Acres. Where she waited for Tenebris.
"That's some mighty fancy flyin' you were din' there" Apple Jack approached her
"What's the occasion?"
"Some new pony showed up in town with some flight-enhancing wing attachment. So we had a race to see how well it could really do! One guess as to who took home the trophy just now!"
"A new pony here, you say? What's he like? Since Pinkie and I just got done buckin' apples the other day, we've got more apple pie, apple fritters, and apple everythin' than we know just what to do with."
"I'm not sure he'll have much of an appetite. After all, he just ate... my dust!"
"You seem mighty proud today, we're not gonna have ta pull out mare-do-well again, are we?"
"Come on, let the victor bask a little, will you?"
Just then, Twilight and Pinkie appeared in a flash of light.
"Got tired of walking and decided to teleport, huh?" Rainbow Dash said
"You could say that. But where's Tenebris, I would think he'd have arrived by now... if not by wings, than by magic."
"I'll go back for him, maybe he got lost or something." said Rainbow, and took off the direction she came from
She looked all around the sky and saw nothing, so she went a little farther back to the starting point... she continued to do this until a glint of something on the ground Near Fluttershy's cottage caught her eye. It was Tenebris's wing.
Rainbow Dash flew to the ground
"Tenebris! Come on, this is supposed to be a race! I've been waiting at the farm for you for like, forever!"
"I can't fly."
"What do you mean you can't fly! I saw you flying just at the beginning of the race!"
"You also heard e say I couldn't sustain the magic wings for long. this armor spaces out my feathers, allowing for magic wings, but when I'm out of magic, my feathers are spaced too far apart to catch the air and actually fly. I had to land so I wouldn't crash."
"But you're just barely half way there! Come on! Even Fluttershy could fly farther than that!"
"But not as fast... When I have these on, how ffar I can fly depends on how long I can make my magic last."
"Well why not just teleport like Twilight did. She even took Pinkie with!"
"Because I've used all my energy on sustaining those wings... I can't use magic for another 24 hours."
"Then why not just take your little wing thingies off and manually fly the rest of the way?""I don't know about you, but have you ever tried to reach your hoof all the way on your back and across the base of your wing to un-fasten a device? you'd have to be double-jointed!"
"Then how did you fasten it on in the first place?"
"I didn't, another pony did earlier, and I was to keep it on until I had completed my training in using it, but I ran away that night, so I didn't get a chance to un-fasten it."
"You ran away from your last home?"
"It's a long story, you can ask Twilight when we get back, but now that you're here, can you help me get these off?"
Rainbow Dash un-fastened the armor, and accompanied him as they flew back to the farm.

"Come on, Tenebris, you barely fly as fast as Fluttershy!" Rainbow Dash said
"I focus on magic more than flying." Tenebris responded
"And with all that magic you have, you can't use your armor to fly half way to sweet apple acres or as fast as I can?"
"You have no idea how much magic it takes to sustain flight... Even with my being an alicorn to help, the energy it takes is only enough to fly for a little bit, especially without my training in it."
"Well, you can make all the excuses you want, you can't avoid the fact that you can't fly as well as you should."
Tenebris let out a sigh
"Hey, there's the farm!" Rainbow Dash pointed out to the ground, and they both flew down to meet with the group.
"Well howdy there stranger! Welcome to Sweet apple Acres!" Was Apple Jack's greeting
"Glad to see you're okay!" Twilight said
"Yes, I merely ran out of magic for the moment."
"Is that even possible?" Twilight asked
"These wings take up a lot of energy"
"Speakin' of magic, one of our old friends passed by earlier... You're not gonna like this, one bit, Twilight..."
"What? What do you mean "Old friend"?"
"I mean, Trixie's back. And she's learned a great deal more magic... She didn't do anything to me because she said you were the one who humiliated her earlier, and she'll pay me my dues once she's finished..."
"T-Trixie?! You mean that unicorn that came through bragging about her magic and ended up bringing an ursa minor into the city?!"
"Don't know any other Trixie I could be talking about."
"Trixie?" Tenebris asked
"She was a unicorn who went from town to town bragging about her magical abilities until-"
"Until Twilight totally showed her up and ran her out of town!" Rainbow Dash interrupted
"Well... I assume she's holding a grudge?"
"I guess so... but don't believe half the things she says... maybe she'll claim to have beaten an Ursa major again..."
"I see why you had to show her up" Tenebris said
"If she wants me she'll probably be looking for me at the library. Applejack, you go get Rarity, if she really has gotten better at magic, I'm going to need to have all the help I can get in case she makes snips and snails bring something else into town."
Pinkie fainted.
"What the heck?" Tenebris said
"Probably a pinkie sense" Twilight responded
"a.... pinkie.... sense?" Tenebris couldn't comprehend
"Things happen to her that depict vague events in the near future... like something will fall to the ground if her tail twitches."
"That's.... certainly interesting" Tenebris said
Pinkie woke up
"Whoa! did you guys see that? I can't believe it! I fainted! That's never happened before! well it has, but not as a pinkie sense! I'm sure it was a pinkie sense! What could it mean? Guys something BIG is going to happen, like another doozy, but maybe even BIGGER this time! Can you tell?!"
"We can now... come on, lets get to the library" Twilight said
"Can I get somepony to put my wing armor back on?"
"Sure." Twilight said before they all set out for the library except AppleJack, who went to get Rarity

"T-Trixie?!?!" Spike was surprised and scared to see her again
"Ah, yes, the magician's little familiar. I'm not interested in you! The great and powerful Trixie! has other things on her agenda. Now where's Twilight?!"
"T-Twilight?!"
"What, can you only stutter the names of various ponies now?! Tell me! Where IS SHE?!"
"Sh-she left with the others to sweet apple acres."
"hmm, out among the common folk. Alright, she's bound to return here eventually... what's this?" Trixie saw the book that Twilight brought home from Canterlot archives.
"umm, that's Twilight's..." Spike said
"SILINCE! The great and powerful Trixie! can read what she wants! Besides, this IS a library. If she didn't want anypony else to read it, she wouldn't have left it here!"
Spike fell silent. he felt it was best to keep from talking. And if he DID keep her from reading it, she may have gone out bragging again until snips and snails brought something new into ponyville... and knowing Trixie, it would be worse than an Ursa minor...

"A second set of elements... What is Twilight reading?!?! This book is full of lies! First imitars, a pony rebellion, and now this? How am I supposed to believe any of this?! Honestly, who ever has heard of a pony with 2 non-matching cutiemarks?!"Spike remembered Tenebris.
"Umm... Trixie...?"
"What?! What could be so important as to interrupt the great and powerful Trixie! While she is reading?!"
"I... I umm... I don't think you should read any more..."
"Nonsense! The great and powerful Trixie! will read whatever she pleases! Even if Twilight's little pet doesn't approve!...Now... Second set of elements... Elements of destruction? What could that mean?! Fury, Fear, War, Chaos, Resent, Deceit?... What is this? Objects said to have been destroyed, but then re-appeared from the creature that best represented the element... This is absolute bologna! How could anything like this ever exist?!"Just then a light appeared in the room... a blinding flash that overtook the library, and then everything went dark. The darkness slowly receded from the room until it was just one shadow in front of Trixie.
"What in Equestria?" was all Trixie could say.
The darkness manifested and clumped together to form a book... it had a black cover with a large Apache's Tear stone set in the center of it... Trixie set down the other book and picked up the new one.
"What could this be?"
"Ummm... Trixie?" Spike knew something wasn't right
"Silence! I thought I told you already! The-"
"Yeah, yeah, the great and powerful Trixie can not be interrupted by trifling matters that she doesn't care about, but I'm pretty sure this is important!"
"And I'm pretty sure it's not!" Trixie said as she opened the cover "Why it's a spellbook! I did learn some new magic, but now I know Twilight doesn't stand a chance!"
"I don't really think that's-" Spike began before being hushed by Trixie yet again
"SILENCE!" Trixie said "Now let me read!"

Twilight, Pinkie, Rainbow Dash, and Tenebris stood outside the library.
"Do you think we should have sent Apple Jack to get Fluttershy too?" Rainbow Dash said, breaking the silence
"I don't think so..." responded Twilight "... She would be too scared, and I know that's never stopped me before from dragging her along with us, but this is Trixie we're talking about, and if you'll remember, Trixie did some pretty nasty things to you guys last time. I just don't think Fluttershy would take it very well if something were to happen."
"I guess you're right."
Apple Jack walked up with Rarity
"Good evening Twilight, Pinkie, Rainbow... and you... you must be Tenebris, yes? Apple Jack already told me about you." Rarity said
"Looks like we're all here." Said Twilight
"Well, what are we waiting for? Lets go in!" Said Pinkie
When they opened the door, the room was black. pitch black. and once the last pony had entered, the door slammed shut.
"That can't be good..." Apple Jack said
"It's just Trixie messing with us, she's probably wanting to have some grand entrance for when "The great and powerful Trixie" arrives" Twilight said, rolling her eyes. "But still... a spell like this wouldn't be easy to pull off, if Trixie was the one who cast it, then she really has been working hard, so stay alert, everypony."
"Show yourself!" Tenebris yelled into the darkness
the voice of Trixie echoed around the room
"Hmm, now what would that prove, if the great and powerful Trixie were to just clear the darkness. You know magic, why don't you light the room back up?"
"Okay, I will!" Twilight announced.
her horn began to glow, and the room was shown
Books were scattered about everywhere, but neither Spike, nor Trixie could be seen.
suddenly the glow vanished, and the room was dark again.
"Uhh, Twilight, I think the goal of the spell was to keep the room bright for longer than ten seconds" Rainbowdash said
"I'm trying, but no matter how hard I try, I can't make the room any brighter." Twilight said
Trixie's voice rang out again
"Aww, poor Unicorn, not so tough anymore, are you?"
"Cut it out, Trixie, you wanted to see me, well, here I am!"
Suddenly the room went bright again and Trixie was standing right in front of Twilight.
"Ever since I made your pet dragon run away, I haven't had anything to amuse me." Trixie said
Tenebris saw the book that Trixie was suspending in the air with her magic.
"Th-That book!" Tenebris stuttered
"You know something about it, sugar cube?" Apple Jack asked
"Of course I do! That book is the element of resent! When Trixie held that grudge against Twilight, she must have become the wielder of the element!"
"Element of resent?" Twilight asked
"There once was a second set of elements... It's explained in the book Celestia gave you, didn't you read it?"
"I didn't think that part would be important."
"Their is a second set of Elements, much like the elements of harmony, but these ones are much more dangerous, they are the elements of destruction. Each one holds incredible power... and this one, the element of resent, is a book of powerful spells, we're all in danger right now, Trixie, you need to put down that book! You don't know what you're doing!"
"I'm pretty sure I do have an idea. This book is what is making me stronger than Twilight! and if there are other elements, like that other book said, I bet I can find them and then I'll really have my revenge! If The elements of harmony can send you six to the moon, or turn you to stone, I can't wait to see what I can do if I collect the rest."
"You can't just use an element just like that! You actually have to be the one representing the element, Trixie! And I doubt you represent every element of destruction, besides, we already tried having spike use Rainbow Dash's element of harmony once and it didn't work!"
"I'm not a fool, Twilight! I read your book! the elements of destruction are capable of being used by anypony who finds them. The reason it didn't work on Discord is because your friends were under his curse, plus, the elements of destruction work differently. Your little Alicorn friend seems to know a lot about them, why don't you ask him?"
"Tenebris, is that true?"
"... The elements are meant to be a tool that can be used by anypony. In the hands of good, they will bring a definite order and possibly even a utopia... but in the hands of evil they will almost certainly end up corrupting, and destroying everything... It was because of this that the original elements were destroyed, but they re-appeared in the pony... or even sometimes not a pony, that represented the element best. So to prevent the elements from coming back, they tried to censor all information about these elements... I didn't know a book with knowledge on them still existed."
"Trixie... you're seeking a powerful that could tear the world apart, and you're risking the life of everypony... just to get revenge on us?" Twilight asked
"SILENCE! the great and powerful Trixie is done here, I will seek out every last element with or without your consent."Trixie said, as she picked up both the book of resent, and the book that gave the details of the elements. "and just so you don't get any ideas..."
Trixie shot a force field around the six that were in the Library before leaving the building.
"Trixie! You little!"
SLAM! The door to the library was shut behind her, as the six were left in the barrier that surrounded them.
"... She.... She's gone mad..." Twilight said
"She hasn't gone mad" Tenebris said "It's the element's doing... When one is exposed to their own element, it typically overtakes them, and that creature becomes the embodiment of their element..."

Everypony kept silent and stood looking at the door where Trixie left for what seemed like several minutes before Twilight finally said something.
"...Anypony have a plan?"
Tenebris thought for a while before saying.
"We need to hunt down the elements of destruction before Trixie, that's obvious... but to get out of this barrier... well, we have 3 ponies capable of using magic, we just have to wait a day since I used my wings... but that means she has a head start..."
"What?!?! You mean we're stuck here for an entire day?!?!" Rainbow Dash didn't like the idea of staying in one place for very long.
"Unless you can come up with a better plan, it looks like that's the case" Tenebris said
Just then, Spike walked through the door
"Is Trixie gone yet- Whoa! What happened?"
"No time to explain, Spike, you need to go get help."
"From who?"
"Anypony! Heck, send a letter to Celestia! Her chariot is faster than the train, so it shouldn't take more than an hour or two."
"uh, yeah, alright, I'm on it!" Spike sounded a little panicked.
Tenebris spoke up
"Are we sure we need Celestia here?"
"What do you mean?" Twilight said "Of course we need Celestia! Look, I know you're scared of her because you were with the alliance, but you can trust her, she's not going to send you to the moon, okay? Besides, she doesn't even have the power to do that anymore. The only reason she could was because she used the elements of harmony. and We're the only ones who can use them now, so Celestia can't hurt you."
"But I'm not worried about-.... nevermind..."
"... Tenebris...?"
"I said nevermind... I know I've lightened up a bit lately, but this is serious now. I can't afford to be anything but utterly focused on the task at hand now, I shouldn't have come here in the first place..."
"But Tenebris..."
"Just nevermind, forget I said anything. And I guess you're right anyway. If anypony can break us out of this, it's Celestia..."

"Twilight!" said Celestia as she walked into the library
"So you received our letter" Said Tenebris.
"Yes, and I've brought with me the elements of harmony for you to aid you in your quest."
"But come on, Celestia, first thing's first." Rainbowdash was growing antsy staying in one place for so long "Get us out of this barrier so that we can get on with things!"
"You're right, Rainbowdash." Responded Celestia "But I doubt that I could dispel something this powerful alone. So I brought Shining Armor with me. As you know he specializes in protection magic and barriers of all kind. He's better at making and dispelling them than anypony in Equestria.
"Hey, sis, how's it been?" Shining Armor said as he walked into the room
"Now really isn't the right time for catching up."
"You're right. Let's get you out of there"
Shining Armor bowed his head as he focused his magic. He touched his glowing horn to the barrier which shattered into several pieces that dissipated into the air.
The ponies all grabbed their respective element of harmony and put them on
"Thank you once again, Celestia." Twilight said
"The time for thanks can come later. You have a job to do."
"But where do we stat?"
"I say we get the strongest element of destruction first. You know, so Trixie can't get her hooves on it!" Rainbowdash said. Obviously eager to finally do something
"But I'm just not sure which one that is, Tenebris, do you know?" Twilight asked
"......" Tenebris was in the back of the room, careful not to look Celestia in the eye "... The strongest would be the element of deceit."
"Alright!" Said Rainbowdash "Now how do we find it?"
"You need to find the bearer of the element. Try to think of the person who represents that element best. One who misleads others, try to think of someone who loves trickery and can fool anypony into thinking they are someone else. It's an element of charade more than it is an element of deceit, but that's what a charade is, is it not?"
"Element of charade.... can fool anypony..." Twilight began "That's it! It has to be her!"
"Mind tellin' us who you're thinkin' of, sugar cube?" Applejack said
"It has to be queen Chrysalis. I don't know of anything that could represent deceit and charade more than pretending to be somepony else in order to lead an assault on Canterlot! That was trickery at it's finest."
"Then it seems you have your bearing" Said Celestia "Although I do not know the exact location she is right now, We all saw that she was launched into the dark forest to the North-West of Canterlot. It's uncharted territory, so I'll have to warn you all to be careful."
"Relax, princess, we have our own elements, remember?" Said Rainbowdash
"Yes, but you don't know what dangers lie ahead, it's best to prepare for the worst..."
"I'll go get Fluttersy and give her her element" Said Applejack "Then we can all head out together. It ain't gonna be easy gettin' her to come along, But I recon I could do it."
So Applejack left while the others stood in the library. An entire new world was opened up for them all, and the mysteries it held could not be guessed. But one thing was for sure. They all had to dive in head first in order to save Equestria.

I regret to inform you that I will most likely be discontinuing "The Fall of Equestria"
I have seen a season 3 spoiler that includes Trixie wearing a new necklace and sweet apple acres abandoned.

This has led me to believe that there may be an episode in season 3 similar to my story so far with Trixie's role in the plot. (But stuff is of course not going to get as dark as I was planning on making things.)

That said, I will also say that I may continue writing anyway. I'll just have to try to work around the plot-holes that season 3 may end up adding. But hey, that's what you get when you write a story based on a still developing series.

I know that this fic may not be mainstream, or even written very well at all, as I'm sure some sections may be written as bad as "Man door hand hook car door" But I would like to thank you readers anyway, even if you only read a single chapter. For at least giving me a shot.
