The Dream

New York City, December 7 2015

As the snow of winter flew freely among the gigantic towers of New York City. It created the aura of cold blissfulness for many of the Cities denizens. Who went to their home to find sanctuary and rest after a day of hard labor. But not all fled the nights embrace a lone figure stops by the window of a store and looks through upon the vast hoard of jewels and wealth. That if taken by a…..Patron of the fine arts no-one would ever mind or care.

“Goddammit, I need to get out of this place quickly” as the Stranger looked around to find the street empty he turned back to the window.

“Well, I need money quickly and this is the only way to get it” as the stranger made one last look around him, he reached inside his hooded trench coat. To pull out a Berretta 9mm pistol out and pull a cloth mask over his face only showing his eyes to whoever saw him.

As he walked over to the door to find it had a glass window overlooking the doorknob, the man smiled and quickly smashed the window frame and shoved his gloved hand through, unlocked the door. Very gently he opened the door and looked around while aiming his gun to stop any witness from running.

“so far, so good now time to make a quick easy mills” with that said the man ran over to one of the many display cases and smashed it open. As glass flew down towards the floor the stranger quickly began shoving jewels and other jewelry into a bag and his coat pockets trying to take all that he can carrying.

“I still can’t believe I ended up this way, first graduated college to become an accountant.” The man sighed “Then I join the army get discharged as a hero, only to become a Merc then a Hitman, to finally end up as a no good Jewel store robber.” As he looked up to the shadow smeared roof of the store the man simply groaned and began shuffling his hood.

“What the fuck, all I wanted was a second chance to be someone” as the man finished his small rant he quickly scooped up the rest of his loot. He quickly darted out of the store and down the long dark streets to quickly turn and run down an alley to a large steel door.

“I got enough let’s just hope that Marcus isn’t after me as well” as the stranger stood still he quickly knocked on the door three times. As the door rang a slide in the upper middle of the door opened up to show a woman’s eyes looking out on him.

“Yes.” The woman continued to look at the man. “I’m here for Marcus, I have some……jewels if he is interested” as the man finished talking he quickly showed the unknown woman the loot of the man’s browsing at the store.

“then please come in Marcus is waiting downstairs” the woman opened the door and ushered the man in and directed him to a massive room. “Marcus shall see you in a moment please have a seat.” The woman gestured to a leather couch which the man took happily, after seating the woman left the room as if she was never there to begin with in the first place.

The man waited a few minutes before a pudgy little man came in and sat across the stranger in a leather chair.

“aww….my old friend Thomas, what can I do for you” the pudgy little man smiled and waved for his friend to speak up. “I’m here to get some money Marcus, I……did something and now I want to get out of the city” as soon as Thomas finished he quickly placed the jewels on a table next to Marcus and showed him the glittering jewels.

“well….that is quite enough of rocks to earn a hefty sum” as Marcus fidgeted in his seat a bit this caught Thomas’s eyes and he cleared his throat. “so how much will you give me I need to leave as soon as……” before he could finish Marcus grabbed a strange looking Jewel that began to glow.

“what is with this rock and why is it glowing.” As Marcus looked at the rock, Thomas looked unconcerned about the rock more focused and getting the money and leaving. “I don’t know probably so new thing for commercial advertising why should I…….” as Thomas neared the end of the sentence Marcus tossed the rock over to him and pulled out a .38 smith&Wesson  Revolver.

“I’m sorry my friend but this is where you need to pay for what you did” In a split second as Marcus aimed down the barrel and pulled the trigger, Thomas grabbed the rock to place it over his heart and then came a loud bang. That resonated through the room and the hall, Thomas began to fall backwards as his body went limp and the crystal was smashed send fragments into his chest and his heart where the bullet was lodged as well.

Before he closed his eyes he saw a bright flash and then heard a voice that almost seemed angelic. “It’s alright, you are going to live but not here” as Thomas tried to figure out who said those world he felt as if he was nothing but air, then felt something hard, then soft, then Warm. As he looked up he heard the voice again but this time louder and warmer than the sun itself.

“You have a destiny even though you don’t want it, it will be revealed to you soon but for now sleep and enjoy your Second chance on Equus” the voice soon dissipated leaving Thomas to quickly fall into a deep slumber. Wondering where he was and how does he have a destiny and what the hell is Equus!
