The Shadowbolts: a group of pegasi mercenaries almost as old as the Wonderbolts themselves. Ruthless, violent, and determined, the Shadowbolts operated in nearly perfect secrecy for hundreds of years, never failing in their contracts. That changed when they finally clashed with the Wonderbolts, sparking one of the defining conflicts of the century.
It has been fifty years since that conflict, and Equestria has now found peace.
A former Shadowbolt, Cloak, recalls his experiences in order to stop an argument between his grandson and his best friend.

ANOTHER NOTE: It is *HIGHLY* recommended that you read *AT LEAST* Head in the Clouds and Flying Sky-High first, before reading this story. There will be a few *minor* references to Piercing the Heavens, but reading it will not be crucial to understanding this story, as I can understand how its astronomical word count might be intimidating.
Scratch that, you should read PtH first, at least up to Chapter 90, as there is a MAJOR spoiler for a crucial plot point in that story. Sorry if I spoiled it for some.
