Phoenix Equestria
Chapter 38: Chapter thirty seven: Mutual anger
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"WHAT?!?!" Nathan yelled in fury as he glared at the newspaper he had picked up the following morning. Twilght, Sonata, Ruby, Sapphire, Lyric, Metal and Krystal all stood around him as he scanned the page word for word. "HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!"
"What?! What's happened?!" Twilght asked with concern.
Nathan closed his eye and took in a deep breath before answering and handing the paper to the alicorn. "Manehatten is gone, all that's left is a crater." He answered with anger clearly present in his voice. As Twilight began reading through the article her expression went from one of concern to one of disbelief.
Just then, she remembered someone that they knew who was living in Manehatten. "Coco...no..." She shook her head and held back the tears. "H-How is this possible?"
"The Maniacs..." Nathan responded dryly as he closed a hatch on his arm cannon after hiving Krystal work with him to make some modifications. "If you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go hunt down The Maniacs and tear them limb from limb." He pulled kit the RYNO V and began stomping out of the castle with his eye glowing blood red.
Sonata flew in front of him as he began walking towards the Everfree. "Nathan, honey, listen to me." She instructed as hovered in front of the the raging robot in front of her. "Mindlessly wandering Equestria is only going to waste time and energy. I know you're angry, I am too, but you need to calm down and think, we don't know if they'll strike again somewhere close by, so we need to be prepared." Sonata looked down to see that his arms were beginning to turn black as all of hai lights began to glow red. "Nathan, calm down." She flew slightly closer and planted a kiss on his eye before pulling away and smiling warmly.
Nathan's eye began to return to its original purple colour, soon his body ceased its transformation as he began to get control over his emotions. Once he shrank himself to his smallest size he shook his head while rubbing his face and sighing. "Damnit...I knew I was leaving them for too long...with everything going on they've had a chance to work on other things other than plans to kill us. I knew this yet I still allowed myself to become distracted."
Sonata flew down and began to rub his arm with her hoof. "It's not your fault Nathat, you had things to deal with. Rage, Sapphire, the stuff with Metal and Ruby as well as Thane. You've already been doing so much, there will just be those times where you can't save everyone, you just have to try again the next time." She reassured her robotic fiancé with a caring smile.
Nathan sighed and reached up, scratching behind her ear and causing her to sigh happily at the pleasant feeling. "Thanks Nata." As he said this his eye flashed red again. "But when I do find them, I'll kill each and every one of them with no remorse."
Sonata sighed. "I know, and I think they deserve it."
Nathan blinked and looked up,to her in shock. "What?"
"I said they deserve to die." She jumped off of Nathan's shoulder and looked up at him with anger clearly present in her eyes. "They e done nothing but make ponies sad or angry. They'be killed a lot of ponies, in the past and recently. They even tried to take our children away from us. So Nathan, promise me that you will unleash all of you wrath onto them once you get the chance." She said in a suprisingly calm tone, but Nathan knew that she was furious just by looking at her.
He crouched down and held out his open hand which she climbed onto while he lifted her up to his eye. "I promise. They will pay for what they've done." Nathan looked away for a moment, looking up at Canterlot, seeing a golden carriage flying off towards the now destroyed city. "Looks as if Celestia is going to go inspect the level of destruction. You stay here, I'm going too."
"Nuh uh, I'm coming with you this time." Sonata put on a pouty face and crossed her forelegs. "And you can't stop me."
He would have pushed further, but knew it would be pointless to do so. "Alright, let's go." He quickly grew to his full size and began running off in the direction of the former Manehatten with a siren Sonata following close behind.
Sapphire and Lyric stood side by side as they held the newspaper together. "This is messed up."
"What's wrong with these guys? What did those ponies ever do to them?"
"The Maniacs don't care who they hurt, they have no reason for doing this type of thing." Both of the twins turned to see Krystal angrily tinkering with one if her machines. "They're made up of the worlds most insane individuals who have no regard for life, death or anything. All they care about is bringing others pain and misery, whether through death or mental torture." She slammed her cannon into the wall as a screw refused to stay in. "They're all monsters with no sense of right and wrong. They're evil for no reason and they know it. They were hand crafted to bring pain into the world. They're called The Maniacs for a reason. They cannot be reasoned with, they can not be bought over and they cannot show mercy. If you ever run into any of them..." She charged up her cannon and shot it at a fly that had been buzzing around the entire time, turning it to ash. "...kill them on sight."
Lyric looked from his aunt to the newspaper before clenching his fist, preventing himself from becoming Legendary Lyric a gain to hunt down The Maniacs, but he knew he'd never be able to stop them all, even if he did know where they were.
All he and Sapphire could do was wait until they had the opportunity to enter the battles ahead. But no one is ever truly ready for a battle, and these two diffently were not. Not yet anyway.
