Author's Notes:

While chapter thirty one is being written by me and Prince_Zodiac, I figured I'd do a little chapter while you wait, as it may take awhile longer. For now, I figured a light hearted chapter was due, have a bit more of Nathan spending time with his family.

The sky was clear and blue, the sun shining down on the land of Equestria. Outside of Ponyville on a lush green field with bushes and trees dotting the area, the towns foals ran about with small baskets on their backs, laughing and smiling as they went.

Nathan sat in his ranger form with Sonata and their eggs on a small blanket on the top of a field. The eggs had grown by another few inches, now being the size of soccer balls. Ruby was nearby in her human form in short shorts and a tank top, sunbathing with sunglasses over her eyes and a smile on her face. While Nathan had at first been against his daughter being in such clothing, he decided not to pester her, she was a grown woman and there really wasn't anyone in the world of Equestria who would even find it scandalous other than the rangers.

"I can't believe you introduced Equestria to Easter." Krystal said to Nathan as she walked up to the family. "You skipped over the while crucifixion right?"

Nathan just nodded. "Yeah, a good few centuries ago I just thought that the whole Easter egg hunt would be a fun thing for the foals at the time, now it's just become a tradition." He explained as he looked down at Sonatas eggs. "Just have to make sure no foals mistake my little ones for Easter eggs."

"I take it Sapphire and Lyric are out looking for some eggs too?" Krystal asked as she sat down beside her friend.

"Yeah, I made sure to take away Sapphires weapons before allowing her to go hunting for eggs, don't need her using one if she gets into an argument over who found what egg first." Ruby and Sonata just chuckled at the thought while Nathan shook his head.

Looking out he saw that his children and the foals in town weren't the only ones hunting for eggs. Pinkie was zooming around looking through bushes and trees with the cake twins.

"Come on Zane, if we don't hurry there won't be any left to find!" Katie exclaimed cheerfully as she ran through the field with the short medibot following close by.

"Slow down Katie, there's plenty to go around, we don't have to run, we're gonna burn through our energy if we run all of the time."

Nathan shook his head and chuckled at his friends. "Some things never change."

"Dad! Look at all the eggs we found!" Sapphire called out as she ran with a full basket of decirate eggs in one hand while she dragged her brother around in the other.

"Huh, I did not expect you to find so many so soon, but you are my children so I guess I should have." He ruffled his children's hair as a show of affection and watched them run off to get find more, only this time Lyric stay beside his father. "You ok son?"

"I...I just don't see how collecting painted eggs is rewarding. We're not gonna eat them or keep them, so why bother?"

"Discord is going to change all of the Easter eggs into chocolate eggs later on after the hunt." Sonata explained.

"You'd better get a move on or Sapphire is gonna have all the eggs." Nathan encouraged as he looked to his son, only for Lyric to pull out a large basket filled with eggs. "Wow..."

"I didn't want her to get even more competitive so I didn't say anything about it."

"Smart move." Nathan, Sonata and Krystal said in deadpan.

Later that day, as the children were feasting on their collected candy and other treats given to them by Pinkie Pie, Nathan walked across a wide open area in between two mountain ranges at his full size while Ruby sat on his shoulder in her usual wear. "You alright dad? You've been quiet for awhile now and I'm staring to get worried."

Nathan sighed and looked out to the sun that would soon descend over the horizon. "I'm just enjoying the peace while it lasts, won't be too long until your little brothers and sisters hatch."

"It's weird when I think about it...I was supposed to be an egg in that batch, but now I'm going to be the older sister to them. In my timeline that was Sapphires job."

"You need to stop dwelling on that dead timeline." Nathan stated quickly. "And stop calling it your timeline, you may have been raised there, but it's not your place anymore, this is your timeline now. Here with your family, with Sonata, Sapphire, Lyric, Phoenix and me." Nathan looked to his shoulder and stared Ruby in the eye. "And don't you ever forget it. You can forget what happened in that time, it's not gonna happen here."

Ruby just looked into her fathers eye in shock. She looked away for a moment before looking back with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face. "You're right...that place is behind me now. Thanks daddy."

"You're welcome sweetheart, you know I'll always be there if you need to talk about anything right?"

Ruby just burst out laughing. "Oh my God you are such a typical father!"

"Hey, what kind of dad would I be if I didn't look out for my kids, especially when one of my little girls has been through so much." The two just stood in a comfortable silence, no more words needing to be said. "Hey, where Metal anyway?"

"He's with Sapphire..."

Metal was sitting on a bed with Sapphire who was enjoying her treats but also sharing with him...in a very degrading way. "Come on Wolfie, open up~"

'This is humiliating...I've faced off against the demons of the Black Plain, vanquished Xram and The Nightmare King and have save countless civilisations...so why the hell am I enjoying being treated like a God damn pet?!' He sighed and lifted his head slightly as he had not visible mouth, but it was still there, and Sapphire put a small chocolate egg into it. 'I hate myself right now..."
