Chapter 1: Beginning

Beginning

War, war never changes...

In the not so distant past, Celestia and Luna rule together over all of Equestria where peace, harmony, and love reigned over the country. But unfortunately, a cataclysmic event wiped out most of Equestria, and Celestia and Luna themselves were lost forever in the chaos. Whilst trying to save Canterlot, the princesses were wiped out, and all of Canterlot as well. But a small town called Ponyville survived, and most of the ponies came out with little to no injuries. Though most of the injuries were minor, the emotional devastation proved much more than most of the simpletons of the town could really handle. Most of the ponies in town lost loved ones, children, friends, and their homes; but worst of all, they had all lost their leaders, the ones who kept Equestria in balance, and now, they were just gone. Anarchy proved to be more than the society could ever handle, soon enough; the after effects of the event took its toll on the lives of everypony, including the bearers of harmony.

Most ponies fled the small desolate town to find a new home, somewhere else; to their dismay to find that most all the other towns and cities were even more desolate than their very own homes were now. A large cloud of ash and dust, mixed in with the remains of anypony who was unfortunate enough to be anywhere the blast could get them from. Many ponies lost their lives, but to start anew, the entire world must crumble down on their heads, and life must be purged to start over once more. This was their day, the day that the apocalypse finally descended upon the unfortunate kind; the world was now rejecting them, it no longer wanted these creatures upon its soil, so it purged most life from itself, cleansing the world, and destroying a tower to begin anew. Every structure must crumble, every life must end; for the world to begin again, and this was the beginning of a whole new life, a whole new world, an entirely different society and type of life. The dust settled and the ponies finally realized the dangers of what was now going on, the world was gone, the laws, and the princesses, all gone. There were absolutely no rules in this now desolate land, and someponies decided it would be best for them to destroy the lives of others for their own greedy gain.

Everypony started to choose their factions, the world was now divided, and everypony went their own ways, some contradicting the goals and beliefs of other groups. Once again, starting war with the world, and with themselves; but they’ll never see what evil lurks within them, waiting for them to finally snap to come out and make it known in themselves, and some use such evil to propel their lives forward taking others’ lives to propel forth their own vile ways. Life was now at a standstill, nothing in all of Equestria, or the world was moving forward, even the evolutionary scale was starting to move itself in reverse. Nopony wanted to truly believe that this was truly the end of all life as they knew it, but for them it was. A dark cloud now hung over all of the organisms in Equestria, and other places in the world, the bones around lying ominously as a warning to everypony else, now, and the future generations to come. But over time, vaults began to be built, to give generations shelter; to give families that lost everything in their lives in that one instant the whole world was engulfed in the flames of idiocy, greed, and hatred.

The vaults were a project that was never supposed to be used, but were drawn up as a precaution to an event that would knock out all life in Equestria, whatever that cataclysm may be. Nuclear radiation was a large hazard in this new world, most stallions left dead, dying, mutated, or even sterile; all of them unable to procreate the next generation of ponies that were to populate this new and barren world. But the vaults were such large projects, and the constant set-backs from the raiders and ponies who were capturing foals and selling them to others for labor, and even as sex slaves. This world was a sickening one, but it was the only world everypony had left now, and they were determined to reshape the entire world to where they could provide a new life for their foals, a better way of living for the next generation of ponies. The vaults took over twelve years to complete, and even after that, they were un-inhabitable until they found a type of energy source that would power them non-stop and wouldn’t ever run out on them. Even after that, most of the ponies left were earth ponies, most of the unicorns and pegasi were wiped out in Canterlot and Cloudsdale when the cataclysm first took its toll on the world around them. With this, the diversity was tragically skewed, but the ponies didn’t care; they were all just happy to have survived, some spiting the world around them for letting this happen, taking their families, possesions and ultimately, their happiness.

Over the course of three years, the ponies got the vaults all operational, and even created a device that would be attached to everypony’s right foreleg that would allow them to tap into the very same magic that unicorns could use. By focusing the natural energy everypony could harness themselves, the electrical impulses of their body and their thoughts would allow them to use the device and allow them to levitate things as if they themselves had a horn. But this device was never mass-produced, so not everypony was able to receive one, at that, most of them were not able to even gain entrance to the vaults. This made them mostly go insane and attack some of the vaults; vaults 12 and 7 were taken under in this very way, by raiders who killed, took slaves, and raped anypony they could get their hooves on and under their control. The world was starting to tear itself apart, the remaining ponies in a constant struggle for their lives from the very forces of their own kind. But one day, all of the vaults closed and more nukes were dropped upon the world, causing another fallout, this one wiping out most of the innocent populace that weren’t fortunate enough to gain entry into the vaults; but some were mutated beyond belief, turning into hideous looking zombie ponies that would be the same as before. But some were becoming feral, and they started attacking any normal ponies that they saw, this created problems with the ‘ghouls’ and the normal populace of the world, causing them to divide once again.

The remnants of the Royal Equestrian Guard became known as saviors to some, and mostly omens to others; with their mixed history and loyalty to Celestia, they were mostly loved by everypony, but then again, they weren’t who they said they were. But they were starting to kidnap ponies and experiment on them, most of the ponies they experimented on ended up dying, but some mutated into large hideous monsters, and they started to become crazier the days they were stuck inside the cells. Eventually, they mustered up enough courage, and strength to overpower their captors and destroy the bases they were in, but their anger never left them. They continued to kill anypony they saw, and afterwards would eat their flesh; anypony seeing them would most likely die horrifically. The ponies that were released from the vaults gave most of the ‘super mutants’ a wide berth, trying to avoid themselves an early grave.

The new currency of this world was now bottle caps, from an old Equestrian soda that was never widely liked in the first place, but now became the replacement of the per-war bits. Some ponies who left the vault became the manufacturers of this soda, until they were finally replaced by robots in the long run. Bottle caps were some of the easiest things to find, but most of the time in low quantities, any large quantity of them were usually by raiders, and or the various merchants and scavengers that roam the wastes outside of the pre-established towns. The most prosperous town was were Canterlot once stood, but the gambling central slowly became New Haygas, and the surrounding areas gained both fame, and reputations that were usually mixed, by also providing lodging, semi-good food, and clean water. But the downside was that only rich ponies could afford to make the travel there, and only the strong would be able to hold off the various troubles of the wasteland, and even then, most of them perishing at the hands of ghouls, centaurs, super mutants, raiders, and slavers. This world is a truly fucked up one, but right now, it’s the only world that we have.
