Corrupted Vengeance
Chapter 2: Chapter 2: An Unexpected Disappearance
Previous Chapter Next ChapterIt was a brand new day in Ponyville, one that clearly had the potiential to become an exceptionally great day if not an exceptionally bad one instead.
A small purple dragon with green spikes rose to meet Celestia's day, stretching luxuriously. This dragon's name was Spike - Twilight Sparkle's personal #1 assistant and best friend - and he wasn't an early riser like you'd expect. Instead, Spike always woke up an hour late than his caretaker, the fatigue from doing assistant-related work the day before catching up to him all of the time.
Rubbing the sleep out of his green eyes, his eyes quickly darted over to his caretaker's bed - which to his surprise, wasn't being sat on by Twilight - since her usual routine always included finishing a book on the bed before she proceeded to do anything else; perplexed, Spike stood up and trotted over to her bedside, examining her sheets carefully. They were all rumpled up and basically messed up badly - which was very unlike Twilight - as if she had experienced a nightmare during her sleep that included struggling against something. Spike, although slightly worried, sighed and began descending down the wooden staircase nearby, hoping to find Twilight downstairs reading a book, just like normal, in the library instead of on her bed.
His hopes were in vain, however.
There was no sign of Twilight anywhere; everything was in their proper place, and not even a book had been slightly moved despite the fact that Twilight was an absolute bookworm and could barely resist books of any kind. To be honest, it was as if Twilight didn't even live there and Spike lived there all alone instead. "Twilight?" Spike called, his panic growing with every second. "Twilight, please stop playing hide-n-seek or whatever you're doing! This isn't a joke!"
Suddenly, he heard the sound of hoofsteps coming from behind him; certain that it was Twilight, he whirled around, only to be greeted by nopony at all. "What? This can't be! I could have sworn I heard something!" Spike had to admit that he was a little creeped out since he'd never ever heard ghostly hoofsteps anywhere.
Anxiously, he continued to feverishly search the rest of the Golden Oak Library in hopes of discovering anything that could hint to where Twilight could've gone; it wasn't like her to disappear randomly into thin air without a trace, and definitely not like her to not touch her books even the slightest bit if it wasn't the former.
"Alright, this is a lost cause," Spike sighed in exasperation as his search yielded no evidence whatsoever. "Wait a minute... maybe the others know something about this! They're her best friends, of course!"
This brilliant idea in mind, Spike quickly hurried out of the library and headed to in the direction of the Carousel Boutique to see if Rarity was there.
