The Traveler's Tales
Chapter 6: Gotta Go Back in My Pants~
Previous Chapter“So, Doxuna. Now that you’ve ditched a party, and abandoned some friends during a WAR EFFORT, now what are you going to do?” Recall sarcastically said to me as I floated through the void, not sure of my next stop. “Seriously, I don’t know what’s up with you, but first you want to see friends, then help friends, THEN DITCH THEM?!”
“... Dude, shut the hell up. I’m acting how I’m acting, alright?” I said calmly. “Honestly, I don’t know anymore. I’m tired of being stuck how I am, and I’m sick of everything else. I think I FINALLY got Luna’s personality under control, AND EVERYTHING IS FUCKING CONFUSING ME!”
“Well, perhaps, you should consider the fact that I have been leeching off of you? Hm?” Recall hissed in annoyance.
“... Dude. You tried that. I’ve been feeling it this whole time, to be honest. That’s not it.” I said. “Honestly, I’m just tired of all this bullshit. All this bullshit in my face… It’s taking me back to the last year of high school. All that shit being shoved in my face. Graduation being a thing, and hell, all the assignments. It was bullshit and there were times I just almost lost it. Hell, there were those times where I just thought about suicide… It’s… It’s like that… But back then, I just didn’t because I knew some of my friends would miss me, or I’d miss out on a lot of things…. I just… I didn’t know what to do anymore… I mean, I never did it, but hey, the thought was always there… and now this. The only reason I’m not dead so far is because I’m a god… and that means I couldn’t kill myself even if I wanted to…”
“Dox… I didn’t… I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine, Recall.” I said. “I just need to figure shit out… Hell, I think the first way is to get myself a fucking PENIS again, I don’t know.”
“Dox I hope that is still you, the Die Leucht are about to find me, Please help!”
“Well, speak of the devil.” I said, then noticed what she said. “Wait… DIE LEUCHT?! Missy! I’m on my way!” I then opened a portal, and saw what was on the other side as it opened behind Mistress Change. There in front of her stood what seemed to be a squad of Die Leucht troops, the same ones that invaded my world, being led by Iron Talon… and more were coming in through portals behind them. I could feel myself changing as my rage started rearing its ugly head. “Oh, you son of a bitch. MISTRESS! MOVE NOW!” I shouted as I shoved my biometal right arm through the portal as it was still changing. It ended up as a bladed claw on the other side of the portal and slammed into a few bodies before colliding with something solid on the other side. Only after I felt my arm stop moving did I step through the portal…
[Current Time - Canterlot]
“Um, Dox?” Celestia asked. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, why do you ask?” I asked, Celestia immediately pulling up a full-length mirror to show that I had changed into my sort of ‘rage form’, the spiked and bladed Doppleganger-Verdugo that I had turned into when I got angry at the Die Leucht, the spikes on my back twitching with rage. “Oh… Sorry. It’s just that the memory just REALLY pisses me off. I mean, it’s Iron Talon. You remember him, right? He was a huge douche when he invaded!” I took a deep breath. “Alright, I’ll try not to get that pissed off while I’m telling, alright?”
The looks I got when I stepped through spoke for themselves. As the portal closed behind me, they all saw what I had become, and I saw all of them, minus Iron Talon, tremble in fear and lose some of their moxy. Some were staring at me, some at my right hand that had crushed ten of their men against a stone wall as my arm started snaking back to me, the eerily organic-looking biometal snapping back to form.
“Who scared my friend?” I said menacingly, my face contorting into a scowl. I could see some of them try to run, only to be blocked by the others who were scared stiff. “I’m feeling nice right now, so either leave, or I rip you to pieces. Got it?”
“So, you’re back again to get in our way Dox?” Iron Talon snarked.
“And I see you’re still threatening people near to me, Talon.” I said.
“As if that matters. You’ve been severed from your source of power. You’re no threat to me now. Begone and my men won’t break you. Get up you lazy sacks of flesh!” Iron shouted at the crumpled suits of armor, that I had just noticed wasn’t coated in blood, and I scoffed as the crushed armor bulged back into place roughly, and the ‘griffon’ soldiers inside got back up. “I have other matters to attend to, I won’t be holding your talons for peons such as these.”
Jackass. Well, anyways, with that Talon left the area through a purple portal.
“Missy, mind if I annihilate these pricks?”
“Keep one or two alive, I want intel from them.” Missy answered me darkly, her usual glint of joy gone.
“Well, can you get info out of them now?” I asked. “I mean, I can’t get anything from them, and if memory serves correct, you’re somewhat telepathic too, aren’t you?”
“Yes but their damn armor interrupts my ability. If you can get it off, I should be able to read them like books.” She answered, then turned to them,” You can all surrender peacefully and not die.”
“Please resist.” I said menacingly.
“Our superiors will kill us if we surrender, or you kill us if we don’t, we don’t exactly have much of a choice, do we?” Then, all of them threw their helms off in frustration. “FUCK IT! We give up! You crushed half of us like cheap toys, there’s no chance we’ll win.”
“Thank you gents, now then, I just need you to think and remember everything. Everything you know, including if there is a way to track you.” Missy ordered them, she was facing them with a small smile on her face.
“Gladly.” The de-facto leader of the group of 20 pseudo-griffons sated, and they all closed their eyes as Mistress got closer and also closed her eyes to focus on so many minds at once.
“Well, there goes my fun.” I said, somewhat disappointed. “Well, since I’m here, Missy? Can I get some lessons? I seem to be stuck in certain forms.”
“Yay ya, not a problem, let me do this first, I’m trying to save some lives.” She answered waving a hoof in my direction. “This is good, alright, Star Swirl get them out of here.”
As if on cue, several pitch black portals showed up with a random as hell rendition of twinkle twinkle little star. The soldiers seemed hesitant, but they quickly bolted into the twenty-odd portals and then they vanished.
“Huh. Okay. Mind explaining the crazy?” I asked, honestly creeped out somewhat. I’d played Dead Space, ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ was NOT something you wanted to hear randomly.
“Sure, I made friends with a Star Swirl the Bearded he lives in a void ship and helps me, and other displaced across the multiverse. The sound is his token, and calling card when using void portals. Now then you said you needed…. help…” Missy’s jaw went slack as she turned to look at me. Her eyes climbing up my form.. “So hot…”
“Well, if you feel like this now, how about I shift back to my currently normal form.” I said, shifting out of my ‘combat form’ and into the normal silver Luna looking form. “So, what do you-” I was cut off when I noticed Mistress clinging to my leg, looking up at me lustfully. While that was pretty distracting, it was the eyes in her ‘mane’ that cut off my speech. “Um… alright… I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen those.”
“Name Jeff, not introduce last time. Not know how to talk. Sorry. You pretty, remind of herd mate Avarice.”
“Huh, wow…” I said, Jeff’s words not registering at first. The second they did, however, I had somewhat of a revelatio. “Wait a sec, HERD MATE?! Alright then...”
“Right it has been a few hundred years in our world. I’ve met a lot of displaced, including Avarice and Gilgamesh and a few others. I also got my memory mostly sorted out. Jeff here is my partner, a mimic, and acts as my hair. He learned how to talk a few hundred years ago. Now your turn, how come you look like Avarice and Luna had a kid?"
“... Yeah, that involves a lot of shapeshifting shenanigans and an identity crisis. Trust me, it's kind of hard to explain.” I said calmly. “I mean, if you’d like to read my mind, I’m pretty sure you’d get something…”
“Ok, lets see... damn you’re noisy, sounds like the schoolhouse during lunch hour. Well not that thought….” Missy started to blush. She closed her eyes, I assume to try and dig deeper, not sure what she will get out of all the screaming.
“Ya know, all she’s getting is screaming out of your shit.” Recall told me. “It’d be nice to, I don’t know, let her in and help out. I mean, isn’t that kind of what you want?”
“...Ava? No, how do you have a shard of Avarice in your head?” Missy asked me with a quizzical look. “Um that is new, and probably part of your problem. You sound alot like I did when I first got sent to Equestria. Too many souls and memories in one mind. I can do a little bit with dream walking, Luna taught me, but you will need a first class psychic to really get in there and help, not sure if the one who helped me is still around. Or you can do some mental therapy practices to help yourself. Your choice.”
“Honestly, I don’t really care. I’m jumbled and confused, and all this shit sounds pretty great right now.” I said. “Let’s just try the whole dream walking thing, see where that gets us.”
“Alright well let's do this back at my place. I'd rather not dream walk in the middle of the afternoon in the center of town.” Mistress stated waving to the group of ponies that had appeared around them, the guards showed up and started to push them away from the contaminated grounds.
“...Right… Sorry bout that.” I apologized. I had completely forgotten where I was when I just murdered my way in. “So, uh… where is it again?”
“Just this way the guard will deal with it.” Mistress began walking toward a side street. She turned and yelled at a familiar human. “Duncan tell your Ensign that we need a guard detail stationed at our house. I’ll explain later.”
[Current Time]
“... Yeah…” I said through as everyone in the room glared at me. “Sorry, I know it’s not ours, but I didn’t think before I leaped.”
“So you just decided to destroy a bunch of enemies in the most peaceful town?!” Celestia yelled, slapping me across the face.
“... Yeah… My bad. My friend was in trouble and I just acted without thinking.” I explained with regret in my voice. “Honestly, it was bad judgement on my part. Now, if I can continue the rest of my story…”
So, Mistress and me walked back to the house to start the whole dream walking process. Immediately we ran into a problem, falling asleep. In the end, though, Mistress thought of something, and, before I could ask, knocked me out. About 5 seconds later, we were in the dreamscape, or how I saw everything before Missy showed, the lack of anything.
A sliver of light appeared in front of me as a door slowly opened. The light cast a shadow on the form that entered my dream, a humanoid with long blue hair. “Hi Dox welcome to your dream scape… its a bit dark in here, let fix that.” My dream scape lit up into a huge forest with square trees, everything was fitting a cube shape, leaves and even the dirt.
“... No.” I said calmly, forcing the world to change the world into a black void again. “So, about why you’re here and hope to accomplish. What are you going to do?”
“Awe I miss that game.” There was a faint light that seemed to emanate for the top of the dream world revealing her humanoid form. “Alright from here we can pull forth your subconscious and start to sort out your multiple personalities in there. Like this.”
As if on command, Recall’s spirit was brought into the dream in the form of a tiny Avarice.
“Pffft. Nice.” I commented on seeing Recall’s appearance. “What, you can’t do better than that, little man?”
“Fuck off.” Recall snarked back.
“Now now Recall let’s play nice. Now for the easy part pulling Luna’s parts out, being a dreamwalker herself should make this easy.” Missy closed her milky white eyes in concentration. After a few moments nothing happened. “Or not she is really fused in there good.”
“Yeah, I’d say so.” I said. “I mean, what do expect? Hell, the only thing keeping me from going insane is Recall… Actually, he’s part of me GOING insane. So, on that note, is there a way to get him out?”
“Maybe mind magic was never my strong suite before coming to Equestria. Funny how one can understand DNA and twist it like a pretzel, but not be able to understand another's mind.” Missy explained.
“Alright let my try just pulling him out and see what happens.” Missy closed her eyes, and at first nothing happened. Then she opened her eyes which were glowing blue, in a bright flash I was forced out of the dreamworld.
I woke up with a pounding headache, and some one crying out in pain.
“Holy frack that really hurts.” Missy cried out grabbing her head.
“Yeah, I can agree with that.” I said, rubbing my head in a failing attempt to get rid of my headache. “Any explanation to what the hell that even was?”
“Ow no, void be damn. Ow ow ow. Stupid freaking mind magic.” Missy rolled on the floor clutching her head some more before stopping, then Jeff detached himself from her shifting to a small ball with stocky legs and razor sharp teeth.
“Two dumb, mind play cause pain. Why Dox turn boy?” The mimic creature spoke in its broken scratched speech.
“What now?” I said before noticing my voice had dropped an octave. I looked at the rest of me and sure enough, it had started changing, too. My once glorious rack had become solid pecs with a six pack under them, muscle started to become more prominent on my body and the rest of my ‘assets’ (specifically my ass) began to shrink, and a noticeable bulge arose in my pants… right before they started to slip off. I quickly grabbed them before they slid off my waist and turned back to Missy. “Yo, sorry to ask, but do you have a belt, per chance?”
“I get, rope in basement, wait.” After a moment Jeff returned from the basement with some rope. “Dox want learn?”
“Uh… Learn what?” I asked, eying the weird-looking shape shifter. “I mean, sure, but what are you gonna teach me?
“How change shape of matter, make, change own cloths.” Jeff elongated two extra arms from his sides to hold the rope in front of me. “First inspect, understand what we want change. Than see in mind what want. Then focus on form feel energy flow, feel change.”
I watched as Jeff held the rope in front of me. As he did so he began to shift the appearance flattening out and cleaning out the stray strands, till it had the form of a simple cloth belt, dyed neon pink and lime green in horizontal stripes. Jeff then held up a small buckle. “Try change buckle make bigger”
“... Um… okay.” I said, a little dumbfounded with Jeff’s lesson. I took the buckle from him and tried to focus on what he told me I was supposed to do, getting nothing in return and probably looking like a total dumbass.
“Will, must believe with all self that buckle is different and how want different.”
“I AM, JEFF!” I yelled, glaring at the somewhat amorphous blob. “I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, though…”
‘You’re trying too hard, dumbass. Since when did any of your magic work by true force of will? When have you ever not just had to snap your fingers?’
“Aaaaand god damn it.” I deadpanned. “Listen, I JUST got rid of Recall…” ‘Let me test that actually. Recall? You there? WOO HOO! NO RESPONSE! … Aaand I can’t pull up Luna’s memories. Great!’ “And I don’t need another voice in my head!”
‘Good thing I’m not. Now, just relax AND DO WHAT YOU NORMALLY DO, DIPSHIT!’
“FINE!” I yelled at the ceiling. I let go of the buckle and used a little magic to make it float in the air, then took the cloth from Jeff and did the same to it. I focused on it for about half a second before just snapping my fingers, enveloping the two objects in a single vortex of green fire.
“What in void doing?!” Jeff asked jumping back from the flame keeping an eye on what was happening.
“Just give it a second.” I said nonchalantly and waving Jeff off. The flames died out a second later revealing a brass buckle on a nice black leather belt floating where the cloth and smaller buckle once were. “Hey, what do you know. Traveller was right. I wonder if that works on me, too...”
“Damn godlings, break all rules. Took Jeff decade to learn. Mistress is feeling better she teach now.” Jeff grumbled a few things as he reattached himself to Missy’s head leaving her with bright yellow hair once again.
“Hey, I’m no godling. I am a god!” I said indignantly. “And honestly, I think now would be a good time for me to take a bit of a break. What do you think, Missy?”
“Yes break would be good, I'd like some lunch before I try teaching. What would you like?” Missy asked me walking to the kitchen shaking her flank as she went.
“I don’t know. Grilled Cheese?” I said ignoring any possible advances that Missy was trying to push forward. SO glad that Recall was gone. I actually had my mind set straight since I started my journey. “Anyways, I’ll be right back.”
[Current Time]
“So yeah, after that I kinda just ran off and took my break.” I explained. “I stepped into Avarice’s world, bugged him a bit and followed him around. After I left him, I vowed to NEVER do that shit again, and then did my training with Mistress Change. That lasted all about five seconds, and then I decided to come here and see you girls!”
“Wait. So you’re still not done?” Emerald asked somewhat angrily. “We thought you were gonna stick around this time!”
“Oh, hell yes I am. Thing is, though, I’m still not welcome because of the DM.” I explained sadly. And, as if on cue, a loud banging came from the door of the throne room. “Thing is, since I don’t have Recall to subconsciously block him for me now, he knows where I am, and that banging is the force he’s sent to try and kill me. Heh, as if.” The door finally gave in, and there stood Yngve, Solaris, and Hyper Bolic. To top it all off, Edewecht was here as well in some kind of steam powered exoskeleton. “Huh, wow. This is SERIOUSLY all he sent? I would have thought he’d send an army. No matter.” I turned back to my fiances. “I expect you all to stay safe. Expect me to come back with a plan to sever the DM from our world. Bye!”
“OH NO YOU DON’T!” Edewecht yelled as he shot one of the exoskeleton’s fists at me like a rocket. I just opened a small portal in its path and had another open up behind him, sending the fist into his back and disabling the exoskeleton.
“Wow, for a master artificer, you’re REALLY shit at making things.” I snapped at him before opening a portal for myself. “Listen, I’m leaving now. If you would do me a favor and leave my fiances alone, that’d be nice.” I turned to leave, then turned back a second. “Oh, and Yngve. I know you follow some honor code. They’re innocent. They get hurt, it’s on all of you. Bye now!”
And with that, I left my world yet again.
