Chapter 1: Crown+Crown=Dent

Luna Has A Jewelry Problem

Crown+Crown=Dent

Princess Luna walked into the shop, her mind wondering about Twilights new role as Princess of friendship and what it meant for Equestria´s government as her guards waited patiently outside as she came up to the counter. The outside was decorated with gold colored ropes and red silken sashes with a large wooden sign in the middle. The sign showed a gold medallion with a large R ingraved on it. As Luna squeezed inside the shop she noticed that the shop was not small but rather cramped with display cases holding numerous bits of jewelry each. A long glass counter covered the far wall with a door leading to the private rooms and workspaces. Before Luna could have a chance to ring the bell on the counter, a silver unicorn mare with a sparkly red mane and glasses walked from the back of the shop. Luna stifled a giggle as she realized the mares eyes were not yet open or prepared for their customer. ¨Welcome to the Gold Medallion, the best jewelry business in Cantorl-oooh my! Princess Luna! Your Majesty! You were booked this afternoon! I wasn´t prepared, I´m so sorry I-¨

Luna cut her off with a wave of her hoof.
¨We do apologize, for coming earlier but we were worried about the upcoming ceremony and we saw you had no other appointments. We hope you understand um-¨

¨Ruby Chain¨

¨We hope you understand, Ruby Chain, and grant us to move our visit earlier (now in fact) if it is suitable to you?¨

¨Of course!¨

Ruby Chain replied, far over her initial shock. She had not seen the moon princess yet and had been quite eager when Celestia approached her with the appointment, and had agreed right away. She was quite looking forward to meeting the new royal. Though Princess Twilight had also come about recently she wanted to first meet the originals, and she had already met Cadence and was the go to jeweler for Celestia. She shivered at the thought of the strange pink pony princess with a peculier presence of poshness and pushiness, with her predilictions for parasitic paramours. She regained her composure and continued ¨What would you like?¨ Luna gave Ruby her crown.

¨Celestia said it was very important to dress right for Twilight´s crowning, and it was to be a very formal occasion, so perhaps I should dress
the like but I thought maybe this crown-¨

Ruby cut her off, aghast ¨Has a dent in it!¨

Confused Luna peered at her crown ¨Really? Where?¨

¨Right there!¨ Ruby said pointing at the spot like it was the final clue in a mystery novel.

¨...¨ Luna puzzled unable to see the dent but gave up after a minute or so.

¨Can you still make me a formal crown?¨

Ruby looked (If possible) more aghast. ¨ANOTHER CROWN?! That would take three more appointments, counting this one of course but I couldn't possibly make another crown in this appointment alone! Dear Celestia! I need to fix this crown first! Then I would need an appointment to get and style the materials and finally to actual craft the crown! I couldn´t possibly do it in Only. One. Appointment!!!¨ Ruby Chain faked a faint and collapsed on the floor, panting heavily from her outburst.

Luna took a minute to process everything the mare said before shaking her head and replying ¨Couldn't we shorten it to two appointments? I do not need my crown fixed for the ceremony since I won´t be using it in the actual-¨

Having gotten back her breath (Though still red enough to match her hair) Ruby interrupted ¨Absolutely not! Not fixing that dent could ruin my image and yours! No princess, not even that creep Caden-¨ Seeing the look on Luna's face she corrected herself ¨No princess deserves a faulty crown!¨

Luna looked as if in deep thought before replying,¨Are you related to someone called Rarity by any chance? Fashion designer in Ponyville? White fur and purple mane?¨

Ruby looked puzzled for a second before a small grin of old memories lit up her features
¨Oh yes, her! When I was but a foal there was a huge family celebration, and everypony were invited! I believe she was my 4th cousin twice removed! And her sister was just the cutest! Why, do you know her?¨

Luna nodded and opened her mouth to say another thing when Ruby's eyes lit up like fireworks as she glanced at the clock. ¨Oh I'm so sorry but your appointment ended TWO minutes ago! You must go, I´ll start working on your new crown immediately¨ Ruby Chain said as she pushed Luna out the door.

Luna looked as if she was about to say something as the mare pushed her out the door and down the steps but stopped and shrugged, calling her guards and carriage to bring her back to the royal palace. She had other matters to attend to and decided not to ponder Ruby Chain´s antics. Maybe later though

A Few Hours Later

In the grand sweeping halls of the royal palace Luna walked, grumbling about Ruby´s antics (though smiled for a second as she noticed they were very similar to Rarity´s) as she stomped into her sisters dimly lit room. ¨Celestia we must talk about your taste in jewelry makers! That crazy mare you sent me to, -what was it? Ruby Chain!- had the insane notion that- Eoooph!¨ Luna was interrupted by herself falling face first on the newly polished floor, shimmering with the slippyness Luna had not noticed as she stomped in. She got up grumpily embarrassed about her lack of grace and poise mumbling something about not being in proper form for a royal and being glad that nopony was around. Celestia looked up from her papers and giggled,
¨Well, now it has a dent in it¨
