Blood Red Shadows
Chapter 60: Act III, Chapter 13: Incognito
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Alright, these credit cards should last you for a couple days. We rented you a place in the hotel about three blocks away from the club this 'Junior' is holding, check with Quill whenever you see anything suspicious. If your cover's blown, check the Aura scanners for anyone with a level above 15, then call us for support! This weapon isn't going to take anyone's life while we're on guard. Good luck, we're counting on you." Those were Alex's last instructions, even saying that the instructions were their Bible for the next couple days or so.
Vanoss was with Mini Ladd, Terroriser, and Wildcat on the dinghy they were using to sail 30 miles outside the city of Vale. All of them were dressed in street clothes similar to what any normal citizen from Vale would wear. Their fake IDs were kept safely in their pockets along with the credit cards. And just in case, they kept their SNS pistols concealed in holsters where nobody else would dare investigate. Vanoss personally kept the sunglasses handy to keep the sun from getting in his eyes.
"Hold on, why are we doing this?" Wildcat, or 'Jason', rolled his eyes.
"You heard what the human bug zapper said, we were hardly in town while we were in the dimension or whatever." Terroriser, 'Clarence', replied.
"Does this count for overtime?" Mini Ladd, for the time being 'Jeff', asked.
"Iris did say we can keep the checks." Vanoss, 'Steve', recalled.
"Let me just say that this is never going to work." Terroriser sighed.
"You've fallen for stupider things in Prop Hunt." Wildcat pointed out.
"I just hope Quill doesn't sell us out." Mini internally pleaded to God or whomever was up there.
"Relax, just remember what we talked about.." Vanoss tried to calm him down.
"Right, right. 'My name Jeff'." Mini nodded hurriedly.
Vanoss suddenly felt the dinghy scrape against solid ground. Sand!
"Land ho!!" Vanoss cheered.
"Yes, great. But are we in the right spot?" Mini asked.
"Yeah, there's the truck over there!" Wildcat pointed to the dark grey Minivan parked onto the beach.
"Alright. Look alive, stay alive." Vanoss staggered upwards, running to the car.
"This f**king shit! it's been a year since that video was released!" Terroriser rolled his eyes.
"We're wasting our time! Let's just get in the damn car and go! There's a checkpoint about 10 miles up so we should have plenty of time to get into character!" Wildcat urged.
They all piled out of the boat, and suddenly got into an argument over who got to drive.
"That's it! Rock-Paper-Scissors over who gets to drive!" Mini raised both hands in the air.
They all rose their fists partway into the air, bringing them down in a quick motion.
"Rock!"
They repeated the action, relaxing their hands once they got about the same level.
"Paper!"
One final raise of the arm to the sky, Vanoss's hands trembled before bringing them down again.
"Scissors- F**k!"
"God dammit!"
"Are you f**king kidding me?!"
"Yeeeaah!!!"

"Sergeant Quill, your presence is requested with Omega immediately." A messenger told him.
Quill shuddered as he turned over to the messenger.
"Omega, sir?" He asked.
"Who else, Sergeant?" The messenger rolled his eyes.
Quill nodded.
"O-Of course!" He wavered, walking as casually as he could through the stronghold. Even being here gave him slight shudders. He dismissed them as mild panic attacks, nothing more.
Walking into Omega's quarters was a bit scary to him. He stepped inside, trying his best to keep a calm demeanor.
"Sergeant Ronald Quill. I was hoping you would make it." The cold, mechanical voice of Omega greeted.
"Yes sir, what is it?" He asked.
Omega stood up, his height towering over Quill's by at least another foot, and Quill was tall where he was from!
"Is everything ready, Sergeant?" He asked.
Quill memorized his lie perfectly, reciting it without as much as a stutter.
"Yes sir, they don't suspect a thing. And even if they do, I sent a larger force to the center of town, where they're more likely to overshadow the primary crew. You'll get their attention, Lord Omega." Quill bowed.
"It is not the entirety of the group whom I await, Quill." Omega turned his back to him.
"Then who, sir?" Quill asked.
Omega chuckled in a mechanical, demonic, low cackle that would send shivers down anyone's spine and turn their blood to ice.
"I figured you would ask, Sergeant Quill. This young man is the biggest threat to the universe we have ever beheld. This is Saigo Emphas. The offspring of one of the original challengers to Inquisitorial Rule. He is dangerous, but inexperienced and driven by his own fear and rage. Easy enough to manipulate, if you ask me." Omega explained.
"How do you know this?" Quill asked.
"Let us say I happen to know him better than he knows himself." Omega cackled again, the chills running down Quill's spine.

"So, we got past the guards and we're in the city, what now?" Vanoss asked Blake, who would answer any questions they had in regards to their mission as Alex was doing other important things by now.
'Have someone check into the hotel, we specifically asked for a penthouse so you could look over the city without having to go all the way to the roof. The other three are going around the club. Not actually inside of it, save that for the assault. If you see anything suspicious, contact Quill and he'll tell you what he knows.' Blake instructed.
"I got the hotel, guys." Wildcat raised his hand.
'One of you look for a Dust shop. You never know whether or not Junior's goons will want to relapse.'
"Got it." Mini announced.
'Good, the rest of you can browse around. If you hear anything suspicious, call Quill as soon as you can. Illiad out.' Blake shut off the radio.
They nodded in similar fashion to Star Wars Episode 6 before splitting up.
Vanoss himself headed towards a camera shop, it was never too late to give his hardware an upgrade.
Walking down the streets of Vale was a bit daunting, but he was used to seeing new places. Thinking back to his home, career, and friends. He missed it all, but he did volunteer for Immersion back in August. They all spent that next month filming actually inside GTA 5 and Garry's Mod. But by some accident or if it was a pre-meditated incident, his friends all ended up in Equestria, which little did they know, had already started down the path to real war.
If it wasn't for the skittles horse, who knows what would have happened? Would they have stayed there forever, or would Alex and the late Agent Thorne have found their way to them anyways?
Whatever. This was the multiverse theory incarnate. Anything and everything probably already happened.
Once he made his way to a camera shop, he gingerly pushed the door open and stepped inside, the bell ringing as the door snapped shut.
"Hello, sir. How can I help you?" The old man at the counter asked.
"What's the best camera you have available?" He asked.
The old man stretched his chin in thought before walking over to a display counter and gesturing to a full-sized video camcorder, microphone and macro-lens included.
Noticing the 2180 Lien price tag, he shied away from the ever-unreachable tool.
"Got anything a little less expensive, sir?" Vanoss asked him.
The old man walking to his next recommendation as the bell rang again.
Vanoss turned around to find himself face-to-face with a young girl, about the same height as Alex and Yang, with a unique, rather familiar mint green hairstyle and an intricate white and olive top, not that he was paying much mind.
"I'll get to you in a minute." The old man promised the young woman.
"It's fine, I'm just looking around." She shrugged, looking towards the smaller, more 'GoPro-esque' cameras.
Something just felt...off about her, though. He wasn't sure if it was her demeanor or what else, but he switched his view to third-person mode just to be safe.
"So, how about this? This is the first 'S' series Kino made. It normally comes in at about 950 Lien, but we're having a 30% off sale right now." The old man stated.
"That works. I'll take it." Vanoss finally nodded. He shifted his 'viewpoint' behind him, where the girl was, just as she said, looking around.
"Wonderful, just need the 665 Lien." The old man smiled.
Vanoss quietly turned on the Aura reader, keeping it pointed at the girl, carefully checking to see if she was looking.
"Is there an ATM anywhere?" Vanoss asked.
"There's one just outside." The old man replied.
"Thanks." He smiled, walking outside as calmly as he could.
He saw the girl reach out behind him, then, very subtly, recoil in disgust.
No one.
He stepped outside, turned on the ATM, entered the PIN number the Vale Police gave him, and sipped the check inside.
He checked the Aura reader, and through it's technobabble, he read through her ranking.
'Level 16: Red Alert!'
Vanoss quietly put away the Aura Scanner and grabbed the cash from the ATM. He would have to tell Blake later.
He went back inside, paid the 665 Lien to take the camera and left. Hoping to find someplace more private to talk this over.
