Chapter 37: Act II, Chapter 10: Preventing A Cringefest

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Alex listened to the others joke about his incident again.

And he was getting tired of it.

Like, really tired.

"Don't you think this is getting a little old yet?" Alex groaned.

"Uh... Nope!" Vanoss replied.

"Not really." Kat added.

"It's still funny." Rainbow shrugged.

"Don't you mean it's still punny?" Yang joked.

Everyone collectively groaned at the pun.

"What?" Yang asked.

"Vanoss, you're up." Alex shoved.

"For what, exactly?"

In response, Alex gestured to the huntress in front of him.

"Rainbow, do you know where Twilight is?" Alex asked.

"She said something about 'studying the effects of trans-dimensional pathogens' or something weird like that." Rainbow replied.

"Of course, where is she though?" Alex asked.

"The airport."

"Thanks." Alex said, walking out of the apartment door, hearing Vanoss's screams of agony accompanied by yelling and what sounded like gunshots.

He didn't expect Vanoss to actually tell her that.

----

The cab driver dropped Alex off at the airport, and sure enough, Delirious was coughing loudly and was visibly shaking.

"Come on, Delirious! I still need to inject you with the Blue Flu and the Grimm-pox!" Twilight said, two needles being levitated near him.

"Get that shit away from me!" Delirious yelled in response.

"Twilight! I need your help with something!" Alex yelled.

Delirious took this time to get up from the dirty bench he was laying on, run up to a truck, shoot the driver, steal the car, and drive away at a solid 89 mph.

"See you on the other side, Alex!" Delirious waved before crashing through a light pole and continue his escape.

"Alex, what is it?" Twilight asked.

"You've travelled through time once, right?" Alex asked.

"That was to prevent a disaster that was never going to happen anyways." Twilight answered.

"Okay, good. Y'know that little 'accident' I had on the back of Yang's motorcycle, right?" Alex asked.

"I see what's going on here..." Twilight's voice trailed off.

"Yep."

"REALLY, DESTOYER?! YOU CAN'T UNDO EVEN THE MOST EMBARRASSING INCIDENTS!" Pinkie yelled.

"Pinkie Pie?!" Alex gaped.

"Yupperoonie!" Pinkie chimed.

"Why are you here?" Twilight asked.

"Exposition."

"Oh."

"Basically, when the not-so-great author, Destoyer, saw a Youtube video of Barbara Dunkelman and Arryn Zech reacting to fan-fiction, he panicked and decided to write this chapter to undo what he already wrote in."

"Even if that were true, that's a terrible idea." Alex face-palmed

"Do you think I didn't already tell him that?!" Pinkie asked.

"So, you want to go back in time to fix your mistake and preserve your now-tarnished reputation?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah, pretty much."

"But think of the dangers! The sheer chaos that would be produced by messing with the past!" Twilight pleaded.

"Nah, The Terminator movies did it, so did Star Trek and Back To The Future." Alex retorted.

"And look at the consequences! The new Terminator movie sucked!" Pinkie yelled.

"I don't know, I actually liked it." Alex shrugged.

"Shun the clueless one!" Pinkie yelled.

"But you didn't get the point-"

"SHUUUUUUUUUN!!!" Pinkie screamed.

"Okay, Jesus!" Alex backed up defensively.

"...There's no way I can change your mind, is there." Twilight deadpanned.

"Not by a damn sight."

"Alright fine, but if you want me to do something for you, you gotta do something for me." Twilight announced, smiling evilly.

"What do I have to do?" Alex groaned.

Alex coughed loudly. Thanks to Twilight, Alex was now colored blue, and covered with itchy red bumps all over his body. He knew he shouldn't have agreed to her demands.

But no matter, he had to do this.

It was about night now, Past-Alex should be there any minute.

Seeing a large amount of explosions down the road, he had his own mission.

Prevent Cringefest 2016.

Past Alex skidded to a halt in the middle of the highway, shooting at the hit men repeatedly whilst getting badly wounded.

He didn't have much time.

A yellow motorcycle drove up and the remaining attackers were killed violently.

Now!

Alex sprinted, tackling Past-Alex before Past-Yang could help him onto the motorcycle.

"Don't go on there!" Alex ordered.

"Why the hell not?! And why are you blue?!" Past-Alex's voice trailed off as he realized who gave the order.

"What the..." Past-Yang was obviously confused.

"If you go on that motorcycle, something deeply embarrassing will happen to you, or us... I guess.." Alex said.

"Like what?" Past-Alex asked.

Past-Yang walked up to Past-Alex, whispered in his ear, and Past-Alex looked deeply disturbed.

"Blue Alex is probably right. Something like that happened to a guy named Neptune during a mission." She whispered to him.

"Ugh. Now I get why you went back in time." Past-Alex agreed.

"But why are you blue?" Past-Yang asked.

"Twilight injected me with the Blue Flu and Grimmpox." Alex groaned.

"And you tackled me?!" Past-Alex backed up.

"Listen... I'm sure blue-you can handle the rest.. So I'll just be on my way.." Past-Yang got back on the motorcycle.

"So, what, you're going to leave me with a bullet in my arm?!" Past-Alex asked.

"I thought you already pulled it out!" Past-Yang drove away.

"Great! So, Mr. Great and Wise Future Blue Me, how do I get home?" Past-Alex asked.

"Don't know, don't caaaaare!" Alex yelled as he was being pulled back into the present..

-About a week later...or now.-

Alex reappeared, and rolled over to Twilight.

"Did it work?" Alex asked.

"Not in the way you intended." Twilight cringed.

"How do you mean?" Alex asked.

"There are two realities now, one where you stopped yourself, and the one we're in right now. This is a lot different from when I tried to stop myself from worrying about the future.." Twilight said.

"So..."

"You're still in the reality where you... Violated.."

"I get the point!" Alex groaned.

"But there is a way to see what happened instead." Twilight said.

"How?"

"Here." Twilight handed, or hoofed, him a small screen, Alex peered into it.

And what he saw really disturbed him.

"I can't believe he's dead." Yang sighed.

"Still, it was nice of him to try and fix something he did." Kat comforted.

"Yeah, I guess. I didn't expect that bullet wound in his arm to get infected like that." Yang replied.

"That did look really painful."

"So much pus..." Yang shuddered.

Twilight groaned.

"I'll get the spell ready, go... Buy some medicine or something." Twilight said.

"Okay."

"But first..."

"Oh, Christ. Not again..." Alex moaned.

-About a week ago (again)-

Just as Alex #2 left. Alex arrived at the site where Yang left him, apparently, to die.

"Come with me if you want to live." Alex said.

"Why?" Past-Alex asked again.

"I needed to distract you while I did this."

"Did wha- AAAAAGH! WHAT THE HELL?!" Past-Alex screamed as Alex splashed the bloodied wound with peroxide.

"There, good as new, get a taxi, Zera is an Inquisitor, buy gold, byeee!" Alex yelled as the time spell faded and was sent back to his own time.

-The Present-

Alex fell back to his own time, immediately Twilight handed him the screen.

And what he saw disturbed him slightly less than the previous iteration.

"I can't believe he's dead." Yang sighed.

"I'm still not sure how he figured out that Zera was an Inquisitor." Kat comforted

"It was obvious in hindsight."

"But that was no reason to impale the poor guy."

"Yeah, even I felt that one." Yang cringed.

Twilight took the screen back.

"Okay, you know the rules, two more injections, a sample of Horngitis and Deathstalker Venom." Twilight said.

"Deathstalker Anti-Venon, you mean." Alex said.

"You wish."

"Why do you do these things?!" Alex moaned.

-another time travel spell later-

Alex returned to his time, and Twilight handed him the screen.

"I can't believe he's dead" Yang sighed.

"How did he even get a nuke?" Kat asked.

"I don't know." Yang shrugged

"But still, that doesn't change that I'm covered in radiation burns now."

Twilight took back the screen.

"Yeah, where did you get a nuke?" Twilight asked.

"Don't ask." Alex responded.

"Okay, then. Now for your PIV and Sinuitis injections." Twilight said.

"Okay, I'm done with this. I'm out. Goodbye." Alex groaned, he was tired of getting injected with every disease Equestria and Remnant had to offer. He would deal with this conundrum himself.

----

Yang sat comfortably in her home, drinking a glass of lemonade and reading Ruby's 'Weapons Weekly' magazine.

Her relaxing day was interrupted by a loud knocking on her door.

"Who is it?" She asked.

"A very embarrassed, angry, angst-y kid." She heard her apprentice, Alex, respond.

He didn't sound very happy.

Regardless, she went and opened the door.

Sure enough, he was blue, covered in itchy red bumps, sweating profusely and visibly shaking.

"You don't look very good." Yang noticed.

"You don't say!" Alex groaned irritably at her.

"There's probably a reason why you're here other than to yell at me infected with dust-knows-what." Yang figured.

"I have spent the past 3 hours getting random diseases shoved into my arm! All so I could fix something stupid I did a while back!" Alex yelled.

"Oh... This is about that incident a week ago." Yang concluded, smirking.

"Yep!!" Alex groaned.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry about not telling them the actual truth." Yang apologized.

"What do you mean, 'actual truth'..?" Alex asked weakly.

"Never mind. Do you need me to get you to the hospital or something?" Yang asked.

"Nah... I'm good... Ugh..." Alex said before passing out on the floor in front of her.

"Alex..?" Yang asked, poking him with Crescent Rose, which Ruby had left inside the apartment.

"Yellow is red..." Alex groaned.

Yang sighed. Figuring it was the right thing to do, she picked him up, put him in her newly installed sidecar, and drove to the hospital nearby.

-a week earlier; normal continuum-

Alex was still riding on the back of Yang's motorcycle, still uncomfortable about his position.

"You okay man?" She asked him.

"Not really." Alex responded.

"Why not?" Yang asked.

"Well, to put it simply, I'm a dude." Alex responded.

"Okay.."

"And you're a girl."

"Right, you can tell us apart, you're a genius." Yang sarcastically joked.

"Not my point. Look at how we're sitting.."

"Oh, I get it now..." Yang realized.

"Yes... Now you get why this is disturbing for me."

"Yeah, actually, a similar thing happened to this guy named Neptune."

Alex had stopped listening at this point, he was too distracted by trying to find an appropriate, family friendly, area to hold onto.

The shoulders might've worked, but there was a risk of going too low, the waist had a similar problem, as it would be a disaster if they hit a bump.

Eventually, he held onto the seat itself, while in no way secure, it would probably spare him some embarrassment.

"And then I yelled, 'Sexual Harassment'!" Yang yelled.

Alex lost his grip of the seat, and the motorcycle hit a bump, and Alex fell off the back of the motorcycle, landing on the road. Hard.

"OW! MY HEAD!" Alex screamed in pain.

Yang stopped the motorcycle and walked over to him.

Needless to say, he was a mess.

Red splattered on the road in a sticky trail that led to Alex, the road burn was intense, the hair on the back of his head was nowhere in sight.

She picked him up, and Alex said.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do that!" Alex gasped.

Yang realized something, she could use this to get a few cheap laughs out of the other guys.

Besides, he was too perfect.

"You know what, don't worry about it, it was a first offense, so I'm going to leave you off with a warning on this one." Yang said.

"Thanks."

"But we're still telling everyone what happened."

"What?! No!" Alex defended.

"I'm sorry, it's how I roll."

"NOOOO!" Alex screamed, similar in manner to Delirious

-a week later-

Yang looked back on that memory. Still feeling bad about this, she sighed. He was actually okay as a person. She thought, how did he get involved with assassins, Inquisitors, Crime Syndicates, and all that?

Getting her mind back to the subject at hand, she read the last of her magazine until someone called her name.

"Ms. Xiao Long?" The nurse asked.

Yang walked over into the emergency room, and met with the doctor.

"Hello, Yang."

"Hey doc, how is he?" Yang asked.

"He's in pretty rough shape, we got him on some sleeping gas to ease the pain. We're not sure what kind of diseases he had, but thanks to Ms. Sparkle, he should be up and running in about a week." The doctor replied.

"Sleeping gas?"

"Yep, I will warn you, though, it'll make him a little loopy for a few hours, but he should be just fine." He assured.

"Thank you, doc. Can we be alone for a few minutes?" Yang asked.

"Sure." The doctor left the room, leaving Yang and Alex alone.

"Alex, you still there?" She asked.

"Yeah... He said a week, right?" Alex asked weakly.

"Not important right now, I have some questions." Yang said.

"Sure... Whatever." Alex groaned.

"Why did Twi inject you with all that?" She asked.

"I tried to change the past... So that incident... Wouldn't happen." Alex replied.

Yang was surprised, he did this to save him a little embarrassment?

"Why were you nervous about that?" She asked.

"I can be kinda... Well, stupid. I don't have that luxury anymore.."

"What else?" She asked.

"I... Uulgh." Alex groaned.

"You what?" She asked.

"Never-never mind..." Alex shrugged it off.

"Fine, why did you ask if you would be fine in a week?" Yang asked.

"Duel... With. Zodiac..." Alex mumbled.

"Duel?" She asked.

"On top of the Maze Bank... 6:38 am tomorrow..." Alex said.

"What?!" She gaped.

"It's for.. All of you, if I fail... You all... Live." He groaned.

"We're not doing this without you!"

"Not...my problem...lives..to worry about...other than mine."

"What about us?!" Yang asked him.

"You...end this... Without me.. Holding you back.." He said before falling asleep.

Twilight ran in the hospital room.

"Did you hear?" She asked.

"That Zera is an Inquisitor?" Twilight replied.

"Zera's the Inquisitor?!" Yang asked.

"Yes, is there something you know?"

"He accepted a duel with her at 6:00 tomorrow morning!" Yang said.

"Why would he do that?" Twilight asked.

"Something about him having other lives to worry about other than his. He took it so we could end this without him!"

"That's insane!"

"We have to stop Zera!"

"Yeah, you're right, we have to go now!" Twilight replied.

Both ran out the door, leaving Alex in the room.

----

Alex looked up, he heard everything, the effects of the sleeping gas wore off instantly after that realization.

The sickness returned with a Vengeance, while his Blue Flu had subsided, the effects of the Deathstalker Venom, Grimmpox, and his other ailments struck back.

He couldn't let them kill themselves!

He staggered up and out of the bed, coughing up foul mucus and his Grimmpox beginning to itch intensely.

A doctor immediately tried to stop him.

"Mr. Walker, what are you doing?! You're in critical condition!" He yelled.

"Not now! I have to help my friends!" He retorted, shoving him into a wall and staggering into the elevator.

Author's Notes:

At first, I made this as a joke chapter, then I figured that this could actually work.

So yeah.

I will confirm that Pinkie's reasoning behind this chapter is pretty much fact.
