Prologue

Luna walked into the room hearing the laughter of colts and fillies, “no please no tingle” she heard Gari the ginger maned and tailed unicorn yell, her different shade brown coat wriggling as the other unicorn continued to give her a tiny zap but only enough to tickle her. Just then Luna heard another voice “hey magpie that’s my moon dust” said spirit, “but it’s so silvery and sparkly” magpie said. Luna couldn’t help but chuckle magpie had a knack to collect shiny things. As she walked in she saw moon dancer trying to balance five books while she danced with wind whisper watching. “Good evening my little ones” all of the colts and fillies ran up,  night shade ran up and talked Luna with a huge hug while the rest followed. Luna looked up noticing something now Luna loved her children equally but there are two very special fillies in her heart that were different from the others. Moon flare appeared a light purple alicorn with a neon blue mane and tail appeared and flew straight to her mother moon flare was a rough pony at times but knew her limits. She never talked about her past but she does sing into the night for her family who had gone missing, Luna found her song was able to raise part of the moon and stars her cutie mark is a silver crescent moon with a flame behind it and a music note with head phones, Luna smiled and then said “Nightingale where are you” a small alicorn appeared the same age as the others which is fourteen , she had an unearthly beauty her mane flows like no wind like Luna’s and Celestia’s mane and it faded from orange to pink, light blue, indigo and then mid night blue. Her coat is an ice blue and her eyes are different shades of light purple. And what you would think is eye shadow on her eyelids were actually the actual colour of her eyelids the colour on her eyelids is a light pinky purple colour that made her eyes stand out. Her movements also where very graceful and light, Luna knew she was truly a beauty of the night she was tempted to call her beauties night until she heard her singing in her room she never sang in public only in private she didn’t have a cutie mark like her brothers and sisters but nobody cared yes mother she said her voice sounded like a part of a song it is high and sweet. She also had an unusual scarf it was made of some sort of light fabric its very unusual it was almost like silk it’s a soft shiny silvery and had a white moon embroidered on it  she walked up to Luna before also hugging her all her siblings were happy there.

The Darkest night that had ever existed

    

Chapter 1

[

“Mother” I said quietly she didn’t look the same she had become taller and darker honestly I was afraid while Celestia stood on the other side of the hall. They just had a fight about us children and Luna taking us and then Celestia told her to lower the moon but then mother turned into this other mare. “Mother” I said again scared she turned towards me she had a look of anger and sadness on her face. “Children” she said “run” I looked at her “but mother” but I was soon tugged away by night shade “you heard mom” he said “run”. I felt tears in my eyes as we ran I was scared confused and worried about mother. I felt a wing rest on my back as we ran I looked up to find Moonflare  beside me “don’t worry” she said but her voice seemed to crack too. As we ran through the once hidden castle I found my scarf I quickly wrapped it round my neck I heard something break in the distant I winced when I heard a scream. We all burst out of the doors to find we were surrounded by guards they closed in I did the one thing I knew I used a teleportation spell on my siblings .I thought of the lake with the weeping willow and fresh green grass, I activated my magic and closed my eyes and then whoosh I opened them to see my family. I suddenly felt tired and stumbled moon flare was first to come to my aid she took me to the edge of the crystal clear lake this lake was special we always drank from it and in some sections we swam in. Just then I saw mother flying in the air and Celestia opposite Celestia seemed to be radiating a rainbow as mother shot out a huge blast of magic so did Celestia. Celestia’s magic hit mother and it enveloped her in a bright light we heard her scream no as it shot her towards the moon. Mother we screamed then the light hit the moon and showed an imprint of mother on the moon. “Mother” I whispered I heard sniffling I looked out at the moon and let out a loud wail “mother” I cried into the night the word sounded like a mixture of pain, sorrow grief and loss everyone else began to cry mom, mother Luna and mommy. We cried for about an hour until I stopped I began to sing but still sniffling

Come to us mother for here we wait

In your garden of enchantment

Oh hear us sweet mother for here we stay

Waiting under your night may sky

Moon flare began to sing our voices in sweet lullaby like harmony

Oh hear us sweet mother for here we see

You under the willow tree

And now sweet mother we weep under your moon

And wish you will come to us soon

Found and Enchanted

Chapter 2

Just as the lullaby ended I saw a flash on my flank moon flare was the only one up she looked at my flank and nearly squealed with joy “you have your cutie mark nightingale”, “what” I respond surprised and there I see on my flank a music not in a light silvery crescent moon with a small star next to the music and on the outside diagonally from the small star was a bigger one. Cool wait look up moon flare says excitedly I look up to see stars “I thought you put those out” I said “well yea I did but look there’s shooting stars” “wait I said do you think I did that” “I’m sure of it” moon flare said with a smile “just wait till the others see’’ I shake my head and pointed to the others who were fast a asleep. “Oh ok” Moon flare says “still pretty awesome though’’ I smile and lay down “night moon” “night NG” she responded I shifted my head and looked at the moon before saying “good night mother”.

I woke hearing hooves I look up to find Celestia I gasped and woke moon flare she saw Celestia too we got into a defensive position. “what do you want” moon flare said with a snarl. Celestia smiled gently “please moon flare I’m not going to hurt you” she said calmly “then what did you do to our mother “I replied I felt hatred in my heart as I looked at her. Celestia went stiff and quiet I knew I struck home” I… I” all she did was stutter I knew that she regret what she did. “Come on spit it out” moon flare said I could hear the anger and hatred in her voice too. Celestia let alone tear roll down her face as she looked at us I sigh “please” I say in a pleading tone. ”please tell us” I heard fear and sadness in my voice, “I b… banished her to the moon” Celestia said crying now.

What I felt in my heart ached if hurt it felt like someone ripped out my heart, “no” I whisper “no no no no” my voice was getting higher and more distressed “ no your lying” I said backing away with fear in my voice and tears streaming down my face. Moonflare walked next to me “she can’t be in thy moon” she said her voice  shaking I knew that moon flare always tried to be strong but I could heart the distress and plead in her voice. Celestia had an expression on her face that looked like it was a mixture of regret sadness and anger I could guess she felt like she killed some pony. It was true it felt like she killed me and my family “I’m … I’m sorry “she said stuttering before wailing the sorry part.

Now all of my siblings are up looking confused but there was still sadness in their eyes. I knew she was telling the truth moon flare and I leaned into each other crying the others joined us crying and wailing for our dear mother begging for her to come back. Night shade who must have heard everything stood in front of me and moon flare “you” he began rage in his voice “you are a monster” he yelled “you took away our mother you hurt my family mother wasn’t the monster you were”. Celestia began to back away wide eyed with tears streaming down her face “please listen to me I’m sorry” she said begging us “I know it’s my fault”. I looked up and walked to her “Celestia why couldn’t you have shared the limelight with mother all she wanted was to be appreciated for her night we have been the only way she could feel appreciated because we loved her night”. Celestia sighed “I should have seen the signs” I sighed all of my hatred leaving “I forgive you” I said “how could you forgive me” Celestia said “because” I reply “you're not a bad pony you just a good pony that made a bad decision” she looked down at me and smiled “please come with me to the castle”. I look at my siblings and reply “ok”

Celestia took us to a large carriage with the sister’s emblems star shine was still crying, indigo wind put a wing on her back “don’t worry’’ she said in her smooth and calm voice just then we are escorted by guards to Canterlot. I had never been in Canterlot i hadn't even heard of the place but when I saw it I gasped its huge Celestia sitting with moon flare and I smiled “the city has just been built so its very new i planned for it to be equestrias new capitol” i nodded “to day you will come to the castle” celestia announced to my siblings no one seemed very happy though even celestia looked a down..

As we arrived we had a lavish bath. I looked out of the window everyone was really tired still so we decided to go to bed Celestia was in the room “nightingale please I think it’s time for bed” she called to me I nod. As I snuggled into the warm bed as Celestia began to sing a sweet lullaby I closed my eyes slowly hearing the rhythmic song.

Asleep for Two Thousand years

Chapter 3

I woke hearing a sigh I look up where I see Mother I jumped out of the bed and hugged her “mother” I said Luna jumped at my touch “nightingale” she said looking at me. Wait I thought she isn’t looking down at me she’s looking at eye contact. I look down to find I’ve grown a lot I was still shorter than mother but I was like teenage alicorn size I gasp and walk back. Mother walks forward “nightingale please listen its ok” “what do you mean its ok I’ve grown like a ton in one night” “what happened’’ I blurted out, Mother went quiet “mother” I said worried. She shook her head “I need Celestia” she said just then I heard a tap on the door mother yelled “come in sister” Celestia walked in. “I guess the spell worked” was all she said “what spell “I felt alarmed at the word spell. “Nightingale” Celestia said putting a hoof on my wing “when I was singing that lullaby I cast a spell that would put you asleep for what I thought a thousand years I gave up a small part of my immortality to allow your non alicorn brothers and sisters to age slowly until the spell wears of which seems to be soon so when they wake up they will age like a normal pony for the rest of their lives” “so your telling me that I’ve been asleep for more than a thousand years”. “Yes” is all she said to me just then my siblings started to wake up.

We walk through the vast halls of the castle heading off to breakfast we all had messy manes even tingle’s mane was unusually messy than usual. Celestia had told us everything about the spell and was patient enough to let us ask questions while mother held us. Moon dancer a white unicorn with a pink mane streaked with purple was fussing about her mane and trying to make it neater. As we entered my siblings and I had to squint at the light it was extremely bright for us but we haven’t seen sunlight for the past two thousand years I guess. My nose was hit with the scent of mouth-watering goods roast apples, sweet wheat on toast and other scents that made my stomach rumble. Just then Moon dancer spotted some pony “look” she said excitedly as I look up my eyes landed on a pure white stallion with a lean yet muscular body he was taller than the average stallion. His main was smooth on the top and spiky towards the bottom it was very wind swept his eyes are bright gold and his an alicorn I thought. He's my age I thought I had never met a male alicorn just the my thoughts were interrupted by Celestia “bright flash these are Lunas adopted children” “morning” he said in a relaxed voice, it was strong but not too strong it was just enough to show he’s a teen that must be very outgoing by the way it sounds. Luna smiled before saying now children you can take a seat I walked up to a seat next to bright flash so I could get to know him but moon dancer shoved me over and glared at me before taking the seat. Um ok I thought before sitting across from him with moon flare I didn’t like being away from her she’s practically the closest filly to being my biological sister. I helped myself to a piece of toast with raspberry jam on it. Moon dancer was in full conversation with bright flash getting to know each other “so’ she said “what’s your talent “she said noticing his cutiemark. My eyes perked up “my talents raising and setting the sun but also controlling how hot it is” “wow” moon dancer said I rolled my eyes I knew that voice it’s when she wants to seem impressed but really she’s bored.

As I walk out of the room with moon dancer and moon flare. Moon flare seemed annoyed just then moon dancer said “oh my gosh isn’t he dreamy’ “who” I asked “uhhhhh bright flash hello” she responded before walking off. “We haven’t just grown I think we’ve also got interested in colts” she said rolling her eyes I nod.

It’s been two weeks since my family and I woke up. I walked through the gardens breathing in the scent of spring it was peaceful I could hear the twittering of birds and the bubbling of a small fountain. I levitated a book I found a nigh willow before settling under it I provide a kind of security to me. Just then a memory resurfaced it was the night at the willow tree I shake my head as I heard the cries of my brothers and sister. “It’s in the past” I whisper to myself before opening the book I read the first few pages, about a mare who loved to star gaze but her parents disapproved of it and did not allow her to so she started to do it in secret. Just then I heard hoof steps I quickly flew to the high branches of the trees I heard a voice one that I’m still not familiar to “um hello” the voice said “please don’t be shy” I looked over the branch. Down there I saw bright flash and my book was in front of him “dang it” I said mentally before face hoofing myself. “Hey I heard that” don’t tell me he’s doing a mental speaking spell “that would be correct” he said I went quiet and cast an invisibility spell. I looked down at him curious I thought as he looked directly in my direction I froze even with the spell on he flew up levitating the book and sat beside me, before poking me on the back “ha found you” he said with triumph in his voice I deactivated my magic and appeared “um hi” I said shyly shifting away a little “hey what’s your name” he gently as if worried I might try to run away said “Nightingale” I respond looking up at him. “Oh you're one of Aunty Luna’s children” he stopped wide eyed “wait are you an alicorn” I nod “yes moon flare is to” “oh you must  be the two fillies that mother told me about”. I nod “so have you seen Canterlot” “no’’ I responded “well why we don’t take a stroll around the city I was meant to meet up with some friends” “but you could come hang out with us” “um what about me being an alicorn” “don’t worry I’m sure mother will allow us to go” “well if you think so”.

Canterlot

Chapter 4

Flash took me to the throne room where we found Celestia reading a scroll she looked up and saw us she had a warm gentle smile “what can I do to help you two”, “mom can we please go out the castle gates to see my friends” Celestia narrowed her eyes slightly I stiffened I could tell she was worried “flash are you sure that its safe for Nightingale to go”. “Yea of course mother” Celestia smiled “well I guess that can be arranged but I’m not sure about having another alicorn at Canterlot is the best idea” “don’t worry I can cast that hiding spell”. “Ok flash” flash turned to me “what do you want to be a Pegasus or unicorn or even an earth pony” “what do you mean” I asked confused “don’t worry nightingale flash is going to cast a spell to make you a normal pony “Celestia said “it only last for six hours” “ok I’ll be a Pegasus” ‘righty oh” said flash starting up his magic. I was enveloped in a light and then it faded my mane was still but has a slight curl to it. It was very wind swept still too and just about everything was the same besides having no horn. I made sure my scarf was on properly before saying “ready”.

Flash and I flew through the air towards a lake before landing at the shore, “so where’s your friends” I asked excitedly “just over their” flash pointed to a group of six ponies. He looked at me “race you” “oh you’re on” I said before we both bolted to the crowd. We’re neck and neck but flash just made it “ha beat you” he said grinning. The crowed of ponies turned all of them alicorn? “Hey Skyla” flash said to a pink pony with a purple mane streaked with yellow, “oh hey flash” before looking at me “who’s your friend” she asked “oh this is Nightingale’’ ,“she’s one of Lunas adopted kids” “wait y'all just a sec” said a stallion with an orange coat and brown mane. “When did Luna have adopted kin” “oh ‘I said ‘’ we were only adopted a two weeks ago the public doesn’t know” “well that makes sense” said a white one with a long purple mane” “what’s your name” I ask   “my name is white gem darling” I could tell she’s from a high social class by the way she speaks. ”well that seems totally awesome” said a light blue stallion with a dark blue mane with one rainbow streak through his mane and tail. I heard a peep and turned around “hi my names shy apple” said a red mare with a pink mane and tail “oh hi there” I said just then a purple stallion with a blue mane walked up “hey every pony lets go for a swim” he yelled excitedly before running into the water every pony followed laughing and yelling I took my scarf of and hung it on the tree and tied it in a knot making sure it won’t blow away from the wind. I look up to find flash had taken of hit royal chest plate “coming” I said I nodded and flew up in the air on top of the lake before tucking my wings in and diving into the water. I swam through the water feeling the cool licked around me a memory flashed I was in a basket? I heard a foal crying as I sat under a tree I realise I’m still under water so I swim to the surface.

As we walked to the shore I look at the tree where my scarf was wait where is it I run over and look over the whole tree fear rising in my thought I can’t lose that scarf. I ran all around the area “no” I kept whispering. I felt someone’s hoof on my “what’s wrong Gale” I look up to find flash “my scarf I can’t find it” “hey its ok we can get you another” “NO WE CAN”T!!!!!” shy apple flinched I froze “sorry it’s just the scarf means an awful lot” just then sky dasher walked up “geeze just relax Gale” “I’m sorry sky but I can’t” “why then” said caramel apple “because I’ve had that scarf ever since I can remember it’s the only thing I have from my parents” every pony went quiet “hey can you do that tracking spell” “sure can racing comet” white gem used her magic she started to be pulled in a direction by her horn “ok let’s go” she yelled. She started to be half walking and half being dragged by her magic I followed her by her side. Flash ran up to my side “don’t worry white gem has a knack of always finding something valuable” I look at her cutie mark three white diamonds “does her mother have a cutie mark like  that “ actually every pony in this group has the same cutie mark as their mother just a different colour” “what do they mean” “well they have the same talents as their mothers” “for example white gem represents the element of generosity” “wait what elements” “oh there these gems that that represent the elements of harmony they are different colours ones purple the other’s orange and another’s blue and so on” “wait I think I’ve seen those gems before” “when” “when mother was being ……. Banished” “oh” “wait a second shouldn’t there be another element last time there was six there’s only five and Skyla doesn’t have a blue on “ “that’s right pinkie pies son party sound isn’t here” “so what elements are there” “there’s honesty, loyalty, kindness, generosity, laughter and magic Skyla’s represents love and mine represents the sun” “we don’t really know mine last time I checked it was singing and calling out comets and shooting stars I think”. “Stop” white gem said “what is it “shy apple asked “the scarf it should be right here there I saw a shop with a sign saying welcome to the shim sham sisters we walk in. and we are soon stopped by a pair of mares “how may we help you “ they asked “were looking for a gold scarf with a silver moon embroiled on it “ I reply “oh do you mean this scarf” one said pointing towards my scarf “yes” I reply running up to it and taking it off the hanger.  “That will be two hundred bits” “what” I said caramel apple step forward you “took her scarf she doesn’t need to buy anything” “no we didn’t we found it at the lake hanging on a tree with some other stuff “ “how about we negotiate “ “fine” said one of the mares “also I’m shim and that’s sham” “ok” I reply “how about ten bits” “no two hundred bits” “ten” “two hundred” “ten” “two hundred” “five” ten” “five” “ten” “one” four” “one” “four” “for free” “deal” “thank you for your time “ I said taking the scarf and wrapping it around my neck” “wait aren’t you going to pay” “no you gave it to me for free” then the look on their face was priceless as what happened dawned on them “wait that’s no fair “ “but you agreed” I replied as we walked in I see a jar on the table that says tip I ask flash for one bit he nods and I put in into the tip jar and walk out.

As we arrive back I take the group to meet moon flare who’s with mother Moonflare was singing as we arrived I saw the moon rising but when it got to half way it stopped she kept trying but I wouldn’t rise. “I wish I could make it rise fully” I smile and ask “could I try “ “I don’t know” she replied mother smiled and replied “well I haven’t seen your talent so how about so” I began to sing Moonflare had already put the stars out as I sang I felt a shift of magic in me I opened my eyes to see that the moon was rising and shooting stars began to appear. Flash and his friends arrive to see me in my alicorn form getting the moon to rise slowly with the stars shooting. They stood there in awe as the moon was finally set in the sky I flew down exhausted who knew that raising the moon was tiring Moonflare brought me into a hug “that’s probably why I can’t raise it fully because we both have to” I turn around to face flash and his group “they’re both alicorns” white gem said Moonflare and I smile sheepily. “That’s awesome “sky dasher yelled I blushed as the group yelled. I smile but then the world it started to get foggy and then it fell sideways, I could hear yelling some pony rushed to my side it was bright flash “everything’s going to be ok” he said worried to me.

Candles Whisper

Chapter 5

I wake hearing a beep I look up where I find mother sleeping I look around to find I’m in a bed. I raise a hoof to find its pale extremely pale it wasn’t ice blue any more it was practically white. My mane felt heavy and limp I looked at it to find it’s only a ghostly blue that looked like I was only a couple shades darker than white. But the most shocking thing was there seemed to be a ghostly white glow surrounding me. Suddenly I let out a cough it hurt but I couldn’t stop. Mother woke up and ran to my side patting my back “what happened” she looked at me worried my voice was very faint “you’ve been unconscious for a week Nightingale”. I heard hoof steps and the door swang open in came Celestia and my brothers and sisters. Moonflare ran up to my side and hugged me Celestia had a grave look on her face. “What is the matter sister” mother asked “we … found what nightingales sick with …………. It can be cured but the plant that is needed died out a thousand years ago” every pony started to cry. Moonflare hugged me tighter crying hard “you can’t go sis she cried ““can it spread “mother asked “no Luna because its candles whisper” “no what’s the cure sister please tell me” mother said panicked “its moonlights blossom but it died out a thousand years ago” “no sister I know one place where it is” “where” “its …………on the ……….moon” “no you can’t go mother” I said “my brothers and sister need you more than me “just then Moonflare walked away from me and stood in front of mother “that’s why” she said determination in her voice “I’ll go” what we all said “I can teleport the flower back and trust me I’ll come back”. “No Moonflare you can’t “ mother began “yes I can mother you and Celestia can teleport me I know that you can’t teleport me back but I know I will come back”. “Anyway Ng you are needed more than me” “but Moonflare I need you have always been there to keep me strong as I have done for you” “no I’m going ok” I looked at mother I knew she had no choice she nodded. Moonflare had a huge saddle pack on as she walked into my room “ready” I ask “yep don’t worry gale you will be happy and healthy soon” “you know we’re all going to miss you” “don’t start ng you’re getting worse by the hour I’m going if you like it or not”. Just then Luna and Celestia walked in Luna sighed, “Don’t worry I will see you soon” Moonflare whispered “wait what do you mean”. Luna and Celestia ignited their horns with magic mother and I were crying as they cast the spell then Moonflare became a bright light and shot toward the moon.

It’s been six hours and I’m already worried about Moonflare we haven’t received anything yet. Mother sat across from me looking worried to “mother what was it like on the moon” “it was cold but I built a castle with my magic so she will be fine there were hundreds of moonlights blossoms”. “It was very quiet I felt like I would go mad I could call out but only an echo would come back”. I squirmed uncomfortably as I thought of what Moonflare and what she must be going through.

I walk on the cold hared grey rock I found the flowers and have stuffed them in the saddle bag hopefully enough for other ponies. I find myself walking towards the castle Mom had made. I walk through the huge doors I find many rooms made from the moon its self I notice there was a bed with a quilt on top something magic could make I settle on the bed and begin the spell.

I jump as a flash of light appeared and there was moonflares saddlebag mother ran to get the bag and opens it there are load. “Ok Nightingale you only need one flower” I nod as she gives it to me I take a bite it tasted sweet. I felt like I was getting better my colours returned my mane started to flow the glow around me disappeared I gasped loudly as if I had just taken a breath of air from a holding your breath to long. I then start to cough as mother patted me on the back “don’t worry it’s all part of getting better” I nod I soon have enough energy to do anything I jump out of bed.

I look at the pocket watch I brought come on he has to be here soon. Just then a phone boxes appears it opens and a familiar head pokes out. “Mf are you ready to go” I nod “thanks Dr Whooves” I met him a week ago when he was experimenting at the castle laboratory he told me about this contraption. I walked into the phone box and whoosh I arrived at Canterlot laboratory. I jump out give whooves a hug before running to Ng’s room.

My ears pricked up I could hear hooves? Just then the door swung open and I stepped Moonflare. I run up and hug her “moon I thought I would never see you again”. Mother looked at Moonflare strangely “how did you get back from the moon” “let’s just say Mom you need to give doctor whooves a promotion”. Mother looked at Moonflare oddly before nodding and saying “I will see to it”. “So what was the moon like” I ask “thy moon was interesting thy colour was grey and that’s about it”

I yawn loudly as I felt a gentle nudge on my head I look up to find Celestia smiling down at me. “Um hi Celestia” she keeps smiling and moves a hoof towards the door I nod understanding her action I follow her out of the door. We walked until we were out of hearing range she let a sigh “nightingale we need your help “. “What do you mean” she opened a door it a room I have never been in before there were bright flash my friends, Moonflare, mother and six other alicorns. “um hey” I said unsure “hey sis” Moonflare greeted me. Celestia cleared her throat “I know you are all curious why I called a meeting today”. We all nod “well Luna and I had a dream of the tree of harmony we saw five new elements appear”. “They resemble Moonflare, bright flashes, Skyla’s and Nightingales but the forth one we do not know yet”. “Well what could they mean” an alicorn with a pink coat and a mane that was yellow, pink and purple she resembled an awful lot to Skyla. “Well I think I know what Skyla’s element is” sky dasher said “it would have to be love”. We all nodded in agreement “wait yall just a sec” an orange mare with a blond mane said who are these to fillies I blush mother stood up “this Moonflare” she indicated with her hoof “and this is nightingale” nodding to me. “Why haven’t you put a celebration up or anything” a pink mare said in a high squeaky voice. “Pinkie pie and apple jack please listen first”. Celestia said we haven’t told any pony because they only woke up three weeks ago and Nightingale got a very rare sickness only a few days ago plus there are other ponies who have a woken”. Moon and I board onto the chariot I noticed a new guard who seemed to be extremely close to moon standing behind her I lean in and whisper “um moon who’s that guard who keeps following you” she turns around. “Oh that’s just storm chaser he’s my personal royal guard” “oh that’s cool wait I didn’t know we had personal guards” “wait you don’t have one” “no” “well don’t worry I can be your guard” moon said with a smile. I turn around and notice he had a silver mane streaked with yellow blue and white he has yellow eyes and a light blue coat. His mane is very windswept but I noticed something yes he’s a unicorn stallion but he seemed just as muscular but oddly taller. I shook of the suspicion just then flash boarded with a giggling moon dancer I couldn’t help but feel annoyed for some reason. “Hey Nightingale are you excited to go to ponyville” flash said with a smile I opened my mouth to speak but I was cut off by moon dancer “oh I’ve never been to ponyville, it must be so cute just imagine a small town that sat next to the everfree forest, it must be so charming you know I’ve been to many places before I was adopted” “I bet you that nopony else has been to the amount of places as I have”. Flash smiles a kind of forced one and nods “so Nightingale and moon have you been to ponyville before” “no” Moonflare respond sounding a little irritated I couldn’t notice why until I saw moon dancer had stepped on her hoof and hadn’t noticed. “Um dancer” “what is it” moon dancer said whipping her head away from flash I saw a slight look of anger “um you're stepping on moon flares hoof” she looks down and notice “oh sorry moon” “its ok I guess”. Moon flare grumbled just then I noticed something very odd storm chaser and bright flash seemed to be staring down at each other moon flare noticed to “um flash” I spoke up he looked up at me and smiled gently “oh hey gale”. “Um are you ok?” “Oh yeah I’m great compared to some ponies” “oh ok” then I hear a snort come from storm chaser I shifted uncomfortably. Just then the chariot took of I was surprised and stumbled into flash who caught me “oh thanks flash” “its ok“ he said keeping a wing on my back to help steady me I blushed until I notice moon dancer glaring at me. Moonflare noticed and before moon dancer could come over and butt in she yanked her by her leg and pointed out an interesting mountain when flash and dancer weren’t looking she turned around and winked at me I stared at her dumb found. Flash cleared his throat “so nightingale I was wondering if well you don’t have to but I was wondering if you wanted to go to the school formal with me” I stood there for a while slightly dumb found yet at the same time excited “sure it would be fun plus we can meet some more of you your friends” he sighed “ok” he  sounded extremely disappointed  wait does that mean he likes I blushed “but it would also be great to get to know you better too” he looked at me and seemed to perk up slightly. I hugged him “thanks for inviting me” I couldn’t help but giggle as he blushed.

We soon arrive in front of a huge cave as I walk beside Moonflare and indigo wind a tree came into view but it wasn’t. Like any other tree I’ve seen before it looked like it’s made of crystal and in its branches were cutie marks that resembled my alicorns friends and mine. ”This is the tree of harmony it has been alive for many centuries and it is the tree that made the elements of harmony”. I look at the elements caramel apples jewel is orange sky dashers is red racing comets is a magenta shy apples is pink white gem’s gem is purple and party sound who I met at the meeting is blue but then I spotted for other gems bright flashes is bright yellow moon flares is a silvery white colour Skyla’s was a peachy pink and mine was well clear but when the light hit it a rainbow seemed to appear in its reflection the fifth one was a shiny silver suddenly I felt a light appear from me and the others it seemed to pull us towards the trees I spotted storm chaser was being pulled too when we finally stood at the tree the elements came out some turned into necklaces others turned to chest plates but Moonflare bright flash Skyla’s storm chaser racing comets and I’s turned to crowns. They all settled onto us moon Skyla and I’s were the different styles mine resembled a vine kind of look that curled at my ears hand flicked upwards and downwards its surprisingly comfy while they boys had the same crown style as each other. I notice a slight bulge under storm chasers armour. I use my magic to strip hit armour he looked at me alarmed as I took the last piece of to reveal wings. Flashes eyes widened staring at him storm chaser looked at his hooves “well another alicorn is revealed” managed to say I could hear the surprise in her voice.

Our large group of alicorns though Moonflare, storm chaser and I wore cloaks we also hid our elements until we arrived at the elements of harmony’s castle. We sat at a large table flash seemed to want me to stay away from storm chaser because he kept trying to stand in between us and often put a protective wing on my back glaring at him. As I sat I whispered into flashes ear “are you ok?” “I guess it’s just I don’t trust storm” “why” “I’ll tell you later”. Moondancer sat across the table eyeballing me suspiciously as flash whispered into my ear. Celestia clears her throat “now I guess the problem is finding out the new elements meaning”. We all nod in agreement “how long have you been an alicorn storm rider” mum says looking at him. I could tell he’s extremely uncomfortable about this. “Well how long have you been an alicorn” flash said angrily “flash please” I responded putting a hoof on him. He calmed down but he’s still alert. “I’ve been an alicorn ever since I was born which was two thousand years ago” “who was your mother and father” “amber Leif and sombra” “though when I was born the magic was so strong that it had made me an alicorn”. “Wait so you’re our age and sombras son” indigo wind butted in” “surely you can’t be two thousand years you’re not an alicorn an yes I am” “try being enchanted with an alicorn aging spell and sleeping for two thousand years” tingle replied. I notice Celestia wince at this I looked at her sympathetically feeling it was the only way to apologies at the time. I smile “geez I feel like a stroll through ponyville” “same here” moon followed me out we enchanted each other so we looked like a normal Pegasus.

As we strolled around ponyville a pegasi flew down to us her coat is a funny shade of blue it looked like teal but it had a greenish tinge, her mane is long and cotton candy pink she also had matching pink eyes. She gracefully landed in front of us “hey are you girls new” she asked giddily her voice was high and sweet though it was also very energetic. “Hey my names Moonflare nice to meet you what’s yours” moon said coolly, “nice to meet you mines sweetheart is that your friend next to you” “oh hey my name Nightingale and yes I am Moonflares sister” “oh that’s a pretty name well nice to meet you oh I’ve had a great idea you can come to bon bons confectionary’s I work there”. “Bon Bons confectionary’s” “yeah it’s my friends business her ancestor Bonbon opened it a really long time ago”. “That’s sounds pretty cool “I responded happily I guess I’m happy to make new friends. As we walked we told sweet heart that we come from Canterlot we finally arrived at a cream collard building with navy and pink highlights there were markings with three sweets all wrapped up the colours were blue and yellow. Sweet must have noticed me staring and said “that’s Bonbons cutie mark” bonbon sounded like a prance name I thought to myself “was Bonbon from prance” I asked curiously “no silly she lived in ponyville but her grandparents were” that’ll explain it. As we entered I heard a bell jingle at the top of the door there stood a pony with a cream coat and red and pink mane. “Oh hey sweet heart how’s it” she looked up at moon flare and I “oh hey are you girls new what’s your name mines sugar rose” “um hi my names moon flare and this is Nightingale”. Moonflare indicated towards me “nice to meet you” “well what I can get you” sugar rose responded. “I’ll take my usual” sweet heart responded sugar rose nodded before getting a paper back of sugar hearts. As I gaze across the shelves my mouth waters slightly my eyes gaze across the tasty treats, there cake, cookies, mince pies, as my eyes gaze around i see a truffle it has drizzles of chocolate across it with a strawberry on the side. “that one” i make a gesture towards the truffle licking my lips greedily. “oki dokey! you made the right choice on that the truffle is so tasty and creamy, its just dreamy!” sugar hearts paused for a minute before giggling “hey that rhymed!” she continued to herself before putting it in a paper bag and leaving it on the counter next to the register. sweet hearts then look towards moon, she opens her mouth to ask what moon wants but stops as she notices moon staring down at strawberry cake drooling heavily. “um would you like to have a slice of the cake?” sugar asks a bit awkwardly. “um Moon” I said nudging her she shook her head “wha uh sorry” “um yeah I could go for a slice”. “ok then” Sugar put a slice carefully in the bag with moon staring at her carefully. she put the second bag on the counter “ok that 10 bits please” she said with a smile. i stopped and leaned over speaking in moons ear “moon we don't have any bits..we forgot to bring bits” i lowered my ears. moon seemed unsettled about the news, she was annoyed, she looked outraged. “what do you mean we have no bits” moon hissed. “I NEED THE CAKE!” she screeched in rage. “ you don’t know how hard it is to sneak into tias fridge! only to find that the royal fat flank has eating all the cake in the fridge!” she snarled, i stared at her “um you know tia is mums um you know sister right and the eldest alicorn and the supreme ruler so you probably shouldn't be saying that”.” Well someone here is a smart book ain't they! congrats you’re the new twilight sparkle!”.”sis seriously you acting like “pinkie pie when she hasn't had any sweets for half an hour” “hey how do you know that” a familiar voice said. moon seemed to ignore pinkie, going on with her rant, “ YOU KNOW ITS HARD TO RAISE PART OF THY MOON AND ALL THE STARS! THEY ARE LIKE A MILLION LITTLE SUNS! ITS TIRING!” moon screamed before running around in circles to let of steam.” well maybe you should eat more of our dinner instead of sayinging your full and”. “SHUT UP I NEEEEEEEED THE CAKE OK!!!!. sugar hearts stared at me a little confused. “ umm wait you raise part of the moon? ummm news flash you're a pegasus” “shut up! don’t bring royal fat flanks son into this!” “moonflare don’t say that and she wasn't even bring him into this”.”whoah whoah! stop i give in have the cake for free anything that stops her rage!” sugar quickly pushes the cake into slice in moon face. moon smiles and quickly eats the cake slice. “so tell me what did you say about princes celestia, and the fridge, and how are you able to rise the moon and stars?” sugar said a little alarmed. without thinking moon spoke. “were alicorns”  i looked shocked quickly stepping on her hoof quickly to shut her up from further speaking. “ow” moon hissed, i gave a laugh “ haha my little sister has a crazy imagination!” “i’m not little” moon groans. “and I’m not lying” “moon” i said “we have already made enough of a scene I’m sorry sugar and sweet but i think we should leave” i grabbed moon by the ear with my wing and dragged her outside, sugar gave a small shout, “well i hope to see you soon! your funny moon!”.

as we walk in i spot celestia staring at moonflare she didn’t look happy, “moon do you mind if i talk to you alone” “sure thing tia”. celestia and moon entered a spare room i suddenly hear a crash then a scream.the door quickly opens with moon dragging herself out only to be pulled back in and the door slammed shut. i find luna standing next to me “um mum do you think that moons gonna be ok” i hear another scream “it was only a joke tia”. “well maybe you shouldn't have offended me and seriously you were the one who ate my double chocolate cake”.

Three hours later

i see a shaky moonflare leave the the room she smelt slightly like smoke? “um are you ok moon” there were no injuries she looked at me “i have just witnessed the full power of the sun and then the boredom of a speech”. “so what was the screaming about” “i was screaming because she was trying to get me to listen to the speech you know i can’t stand speeches and i was screaming for other reason”. celestia walked out of the room moon ran up “hey celestia you know i love you how about we make a pact never let me listen to a speech and i will make you cake”. celestia rose an eyebrow “i’ll think about”. Luna came up to moon “moon you're grounded” moon just stared at mum “what does grounded mean”. luna looked firm towards moon. “thy is not allowed to leave my section of the castle for any reason!” moon gaped before yelling “oh sweet celestia NOOOOOO!!!!!”. “what is tia turns into a raging she dea i mean what if she takes me out for cake”celestia gave a small shout as she walks away “that won't be happening for a while” moon gave a cry and luna spoke up “my decision is final! now go to your room!” luna shouted. moon was teleported to her room with her head lowered, “moon..” i said quietly she slammed the door and i gave a small sigh. “nightingale i know its hard to see your sister in so much trouble, after all shes done to help you, but she deserves this, shes pushed her limits” luna said gently putting a wing on my back. i sigh “it wasn't her fault i should've bought some bits” “don’t worry moons only going to be grounded for a week though”.

Chapter 10

I watch MoonFlare concentrating hard making the constellations align perfectly i saw beads of perspiration on her head. when she finally made the little dipper storm ran through doors the star travelled about six  kilometers from its position. moon flare groaned as mum said “you nearly did it just don’t get distracted next time” before luna fixed the star back in place.  Moon turns to storm slightly annoyed “what is it” she said gruffly “celestia requires you and your sister in the the throne room”. immediately a look of fear flashed onto moons face it had been two weeks since celestia had talked to moon. as we entered the throne room moon sped towards celestia before begging “trust me it wasn't me i didn’t do anything” before pointing me at me, and saying “if anything nightingale did it I’ve been followed by guards for the past week they would have let you know by now if i've done anything”. celestia smiled “don't worry you haven't done anything moon”. “then why do you want us” i said a little curiously “i need to talk about your lunar powers” celestia seemed a bit cautious. “there are five jobs needed to be done, dreamwalking, the bringing of the constellations, controlling the stages of the moon, controlling how hot and cold the nights are, and bringing the eclipse.” celestia took a small pause looking at the both of us. “these jobs represent your personality so its very important that you take great responsibility in each of these tasks” she paused again. i looked at celestia and thought to myself.. dreamwalking..celestia quickly continued. “Moonflare from my understanding your learning how to summon and control the constellations, this task represents your personality since you are stronger than your sister, the small constellations require little concentration, but the larger constellations such as hydra require more concentration, and can make you weak easily, but i believe you can be up to the task.” i heard moon give out a large “yes!” before quieting down. i give a small chuckle to myself before being interrupted. “now nightingale, your job is a easier job but it can get you into trouble, your job is dreamwalking, you will enter the equestrian ponies dreams and aid them with their nightmares, you need to be asleep for this to work, this represents your personality because you have more patients than your sister, you also have a nicer face than your sister.” celestia giggled to mock moon for her previous mistakes, but quickly continued on. “ but you end up in a lot of trouble when you dreamwalk, you can become trapped, if a dream is strong enough you will not be able to escape easily, you cannot use your alicorn magic in a dream as it will upset the balance. your luna powers will give you magic but you will be limited to what you can do, if you ever need help then moonflare can help you, but she can only enter if you need help.” i felt nerveous “b-but how will i tell if any pony needs me?” “from my own experiences you are immediately transported to the dream needing help the most and then you can walk through other ponies dreams checking the balance”. i felt a slight shiver run over my body thinking of what horrible things i may encounter. “going on you both will control the temperature of the night moonflare will control the heat, obviously because of how she channelled her anger magic when she got angry with me becoming a fire pony like twilight did when she was my student” i look at my sister and aw. had she really became a fire pony when she thought with celestia. “and Nightingale will control the coolness coming from what luna said about past fight how she shuts every pony out and becomes cold hearted”. i couldn't help but blush when i was a filly i had a massive outburst and fight with moon dancer when she took my scarf for a costume. i became rigid and i felt like i had no feelings or sympathy for her my brothers and sister told me my mane went white and pale blue and that my eyes whent ice cold and hard. “now the stages of the moon will be done by both of you once again, for so you both need each other to raise the moon” we both nodded agreeing. “eclipses will be shared because they both take a huge amount of energy and you two are only just learning”. i felt a slight buzz of excitement in side of me yes these thing take a lot of responsibility but it would be a fun thing to do. “yeah this is going to be so awesome! i can control the heat, the constellations and also go help kick some tail when my sisters in trouble” moon seemed happy, well its only normal she has been grounded for the last 2 weeks.  “now you will need to spend a lot of time with your practise, you have to keep your social time to a minimum” celestia said firmly. “so i can't go out with my friends at night?” i felt upset, i’ve only just met my friends a while ago in canterlot but it feels like we've known each other for years.“unfortunately no, you can't as much as you get older your duties as princess will take over a lot more of your time” she looked a little upset before continuing, “you two aren't little fillies anymore, and when luna and i can't control the sun and the moon anymore then the duties of Equestria will rest squarely on your and bright flashes shoulders” i took a sigh before looking at moon, she seemed unsettled about the whole thing, moonflare hated hearing hints about death, she was always emotional around the topic ever since she was adopted by luna. i put a wing over her and gave her a hug. “it’s ok moon..” celestia must of noticed moon and started talking again. “well its getting rather late, you two should get some rest try and sleep in as much as you can as well, you will be spending most of your nights for the next few nights awake.”.                        

“Ok Nightingale were going to dream walk tonight you will first enter your dreaming plain which is where all of your dreams are, i will meet you there”, i nod to mum, looking at moonflare who is resting for tonight, i then go to my bed before resting my head on the pillow and closing my eyes. when i open my eyes i find myself in a meadow at night, the the sky was stary with comets flying by and the moon is full, I see a pony shes an alicorn her mane billowed in the wind its a mixture of lavender,sky blue, midnight blue and magenta. her coat is periwinkle blue. her eyes are bright gold suddenly i find myself looking up on her she had a watery smile “I’m sorry” she whispered suddenly i hear a voice “nightingale” i look up to find mum. i feel really confused who is that mare “what just happened” “don’t worry it was probably a figment of your dream” mum said before walking towards a tree, she paused and looked up at it, it was glowing bright, she took a few steps back to see bubble caught in the tree tops. “well nightingale heres your training, see that bubble stuck in the tree? well this signifies a nightmare, to enter you need to think of something that makes you happy” i look down, but what if i can't think of something?” i felt worried, i wanted to help anyone i could, but i’m worried, what if i mess up the dream? what if I’m afraid of the same thing as the other pony. mum must have seen my expression of distress “don't you will be fine” “ok now think of a memory of happiness” i straightway think of the time when i first met luna i looked at the globe and see a sleeping colt, i take a breath and walk into the  bubble. the sensation of  walking into the felt really weird it felt like i was walking in water yet when i entered i was completely dry. mum came right behind me i saw a small brown and white colt staring at a timber wolf that howled into the night luna and i looked down from the sky “help anyone please” he called. Mum looked at me “ok Nightingale you need to make the nightmare leave for at least a hour so you can talk to the col”t i nodded. come on nightingale you can do this wait a sec he doesn't even know I'm real i look at mum she seemed to read my mind “don’’t worry”. i started to decent flashing a bright light a the timber wolf scaring it of the foal looked up at me. “who are you” his voice was quiet and shaky “don’t worry little one i wont hurt you” i notice he was white but with black and white patches. he started to calm down i smiled gently “ my name is nightingale and what is yours little one” “I’m choc ripple but you can call me ripple”, “well nice to meet you ripple”. “i see you are having a few troubles with timber wolves” “yeah they're really scary” “are they now” i magiced a timber wolf it growled. the colt shrieked and jumped back “don’t worry ripple he won't hurt you” the foal took a step closer. “ripple if you want to control your fears you have to face them, here just pat him”. ripple looked at me worried “trust me i nothing bad will happen” he extended a shaky hoof and patted the wolf, the wolf instantly turned into a happy sandy gold puppy. the foal laughed “sandy” i smiled “see i told you nothing bad would happen” i noticed the dream started to seem brighter. the foal hugged me “thanks nightingale you're awesome” i smile “i must go now but if you have any nightmares i'll be sure to come back and if i have time i might even drop in” ‘wait Nightingale are you real” i smile “you will find out soon my little on”. before spotting mum enter through a bubble that appeared i flew up to it before enter.

“ok girls tonight is a crescent moon so think of a crescent and then ignite you magic to raise the moon”. moon and i looked at each other before she started to sing

the night has come and the day has gone

and now its time to rest

i began to sing to

i closed my eyes and as we sang thought of a crescent moon and ignited my magic.

finally i opened my eyes and saw the moon was up wait it wasn't a crescent it was a full dang it i stopped and dropped to the ground. “geez how do you do this every day mum” i panted moonflare was also panting from the effort. “you two will get use to raising the moon and changing its stages it just take a lot of practice” she said before fixing it to a cresent . i look out onto the other balcony where celestia and flash stood “now lets work on the temperature” i closed my eyes and thought of a nice pleasant night where its not too cold or hot i find a ice blue star  twinkling in my mind across was a red one i ignite my magic and began to change the temperature so its a few degrees cooler. suddenly the red star blazed bright it felt really hot i opened my eyes and realized that it was really hot i saw heat waves being created i looked over at moon who looked frazzled. i started to concentrate on making it cooler suddenly it felt freezing i stepped of the coolness before the tempter turned hot again. “Nightingale the coolness is perfect you can stop now” i heard a voice say i opened my eyes and looked to find celestia, luna and flash. moonflare was still trying to lower the heat mum sigh i felt embarrassed at my attempt. celestia must have noticed because she leaned in and said to mum and i “don’t worry when i was teaching flash how to control the heat of the sun he caused a seven year drought”. “wait” mum said “he caused that drought” celestia giggled “yeah, i thought he was never going to get it right, but sure enough he did.” she stopped and put a put a wing on lunas shoulder. “don't worry sister, they will be fine when they get older, they can control their abilities together” celestia said hugging luna. luna sent moon and i off to bed.

Luna sighed noticing her two fillies were out of hearing range, she felt sad. “sister, i'm worried,  nightingale saw her mother when she was learning to dream walk, but didn't recognise her, what if..what if nightingale and moonflare realise their true selves and leave me?” lunas voice went high is shaky, a tear flying down her cheek. celestia realised and gave her sister another hug. “don’t worry lulu, you took them in and raised them to your full abilities, they will always love you” celestia said reassuring her. “now i think you should get some rest, there are plenty of more nights of work ahead of you” celestia said chuckling before walking off. luna stared at the sky reflecting on her sister's words. “yeah your right, and i will  always love them in return.” luna gave a short smile as she turned around and headed off to bed.
