All the way back at the hive, Queen Chrysalis has begun to drive her swarm to either greatness or destruction. You see, no queen has ever tried to do what Chrysalis has been doing. Although, no queen has had such opportunity. Usually the changelings had a deficiency of love so working towards founding an empire was out of the question. The roles of changelings has always been find love, maintain the hive, protect the queen, make grubs, and on occasion, fight in battle. Now with such a surplus of love, changeling roles will change dramatically. Already, there are changelings who distribute love, build facilities, and mine silver from a large deposit found near the colony. The problem, can changelings handle such a shift in society?

Regardless, Chrysalis has plans to act upon. Changelings tend to keep objects to themselves after stealing them from infiltrations. They left much of their stuff behind, but not all of it. Among the items are books. These books can contain concepts of technology from old Equestria. Chrysalis had her subjects to relinquish their books to her. Some books show promise, but she must be sure. She doesn't have the time to read every single one, she has a colony to run. Her plan? Have her subjects do it for her. Let me elaborate.

You see, changelings have, for the first time ever, time for themselves. A changeling's free time is expanding and they're looking for stuff to do. Chrysalis wants to build a library that rivals that of Celestia's one in Canterlot. A great library that'll hold what little was saved from the old world. Her subjects will read there on their free time and reinvent the secrets on their own. The perfect way to make use of what's not being used.

Chrysalis is also aware that that's not all changelings' cup of tea so to speak. However, she has her hooves tied on that one. She just doesn't know what is there for them to do. She does however, have a short term solution: mine out a few nearby hills that will supply materials that will go towards the construction of the library as well as the construction of the library itself is a solution. It's not periment though.

In the meantime, she's trying to figure out what to do with the ponies of Sindhoof. The reports say the ponies have started coming out of their houses, albeit very reluctantly, and continue with their day to day activities, mostly farming. They're still giving some negative emotions, but still collecting love is still simple enough. Yet the love given off is sufficiently less than before. Not enough to concern her though, besides they have plenty of love left just in case. No need for drastic measures.

While changelings now have spare time on their hooves, Chrysalis has lost much of her own. Fortunately, she can cope with that. The only relationships she must maintain are with her subjects as a whole. She has no individual to care for, especially no lover. Ponies think all changelings come from the queen. The truth is actually the exact opposite. That's right, the queen is sterile. The queen's role is more political than that of a insect queen. She must be the one to bring order to the changelings and be their representative. Chrysalis still feels like she failed after Canterlot. She and her changelings were just desperate. They were starving and convenical methods weren't working. Nopony was helping. She almost doomed them all.

Breaking out of her thoughts, she took a breather and stepped away from her desk. She looked out upon the colony from her place. She looked at the half built library in the center of it all. Her changelings are hard at work.

'Don't worry my followers, I shall not fail you a second time,' She thought to herself.
