Second Universe
Chapter 5: Mindscape one...
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAuthor's Notes:
This chapter has been modified a bit because I made the horrible decision of including misanthropy, yeah, was real smart about that one
I walked towards the ball of light that was waiting at the end of the hallway. As I looked around the black hallway I noticed the wall to my left was covered in paintings, the wall to my right was made of glass, with patterns of flowers created by a black line that connected them all together. When I looked outside the hallway was slightly above the clouds. There was a sea of grey storm clouds and the sky was black. There was little light in the hall, only lit by the outside through the windows. I stopped when I was a few feet away from the light.
"Hello again."
Hello my child, and welcome to the mindscape
"The what?"
The mindscape, this is a pocket dimension that exists in your subconscious
"You mean I'm in a third dimension?"
The fourth dimension to be precise
Where's Bill Cipher when you need him? "So, where are we exactly?"
To put it simply, this is your mind
I looked around and glanced outside. "Makes sense." I always thought this was what my mind would look like. I wish that it wasn't so dark, but I knew that it represented my state of mind. Dark, empty, destroyed by the very people that I was stupid enough to once call my family. But I expected it to be darker, could it be that the friends I have made so far on Equus have given my dark and angry world that small glimmer of light that it needed...
Or was it the memories I shared with...oh God...have I still not let that go? Why...why can't I get her out of my head? I knew exactly why...it was because of HIM.
How dare he...how dare he have the gall to call himself my father. That pathetic excuse of a man...curse him...DAMN HIM!
Calm down my child, thinking about that will only make your world darker
"I know...I know. I'm sorry." I pinched the top of my nose and and sighed.
You left that life behind when you got sucked into this world. You can let it go
"I wasn't sucked into this world I walked into this world."
W-what?
"You heard me, I knew full well what that portal was and ran into it."
You...you came here willingly? I nodded. Why would yo...
"You know full well why I did what I did. To get away from humanity, to get away from them, to get away from him!" Suddenly one of the paintings glowed and gave us a clear view of what was there...
It was playing the moment I ran through the portal...it was a memory.
"Gentlemen, what you are about to witness is the first images of multidimensional reality." Exclaimed an eager scientist. I was there in a group of people that were selected to come to CyCorp to witness the event. Although I had other plans for the portal. Humanity could not be trusted with multidimensional travel, I was there to destroy the device in anyway I could. I just had to ask one question first.
"Mr Administrator, if something were to happen to the devices, like say, unexpected damage to the control terminal, would the portal take time to close or would it case an anomaly?"
"An interesting question young man, the answer is the former. Now since you asked such an interesting question, would you like to do the honours?"
"Gladly." I walked up to the main terminal beside the portal and pulled a lever. The machine started to vibrate and electricity shot everywhere. The portal glowed and a swirling vortex appeared. Time to put my plan into action. "You know something gentlemen, I don't think that this world is ready for this kind of technology. In fact humanity will never be ready. They are slowly destroying this world, what's stopping them from doing the same to this new one?" I pulled out a pipe that I broke off from the outside of the building out of my satchel. I threw the satchel on the ground and threw a lit match onto it, the bag burst into flames and multiple fireworks I had stollen from my brother flew off towards the machinery in the lab, causing severe damage.
"Get that kid away from the portal!" Yelled a military general. When he ran at me I rammed the pipe into the main console, causing a bright light to stagger him. I walked into the collapsing portal but turned to give one final message.
"If anyone comes after me and repairs the portal, I won't hesitate to kill. I'm not letting another world be destroyed." With that, the portal closed, a force pulling me into the light.
The memory finished playing and what was left was a painting of me running at the portal with the general chasing me.
What...that wasn't what the creator told us, how were you capable of doing all of that?
I shrugged. "Just dumb luck, I didn't expect the plan to work."
But how were you able to get into the building?
"I honestly don't know, I was just minding my own business when someone pushed a letter under my front door, it was an invitation to view the unveiling of some government experiment. I knew it was bad news, what CyCorp develops is never good, it was a miracle that the cyborg project was canceled. So I decided that since I really didn't have such a great life, I would go and attempt to sabotage the project and most likely get a life sentence, had nothing else to do."
How can you think like that? Didn't you have something to care about, or someone back on earth?
"I did, but she was taken from me years ago. I've done nothing but fight on earth, trying to find a way to rescue her, to beat the man who took her, but there was only so much a kid could do in a country like Masereth." I looked to my hands and sighed. "All of Tahat violence, for nothing. I needed to get away from it, to escape it. That portal was my best bet, if I didn't take that chance I'd still be counting bodies right now and I would have never been able to start a new life here. I'm done with earth, I may still care for a few people there but they can survive without me. That world is better off without a demon like me walking around where I can kill freely, here I have reasons for keeping it under control." The woman reached her hand out and touched my cheek.
How could I let my child become so corrupt? her voice was quiet and filled with pain, as if sh...wait did she just call me her child? I mean yeah she said it before but not like this...who is she?
"Ok, I wasn't some answers, who are you exactly?" She removed her hand from my face and looked away, avoiding eye contact.
I have no na...
"I didn't ask for your name!" She flinched at my sudden outburst and looked back at me with tears in her eyes. She tried to walk away but I grabbed her arm. "Stop, avoiding, the question! Who are you?!" She began trying to pull away from my grasp.
I can't tell you yet, it isn't time!
"Enough of all this mysterious shit, tell me who you are, NOW!!!"
No!
"TELL ME!!!"
I'M YOUR MOTHER!!!
"Lair, I know for a fact that my biological mother is..."
She was just a vessel, she created your body...I created your soul I let go of her arm and she didn't try to avoid the question.
"What are you...?"
I could not create a physical body for you, so I needed a vessel to create the body while I crafted your soul. But to do so...I had to remove the current soul from said developing body
"What happened to the original soul?
He became the red figure you saw, in short, he is your brother
"What's his name?"
I already told you that we have no names...unless you would like to give us names?
I'd be naming my brother and mother, well I have already named myself so...why not. "Alright." I placed two fingers on my forehead and started to think. Kinda weird if you think about it, I'm using my mind to think inside my mind. How does that even work?
I thought hard about the names, they had to be special...especially hers...
"Your name will be..." Think of something that suits her. "...Vivi!" Mark that reference, off the list.
Vivi? Vivi...that's a perfect name! Thank you my child She wrapped her arms around me and held me close, I could actually feel her love passing through me. What about your brothers name?
I thought about what I knew about him at this point, all I really know is that he was removed to forge my body...wait...that's it! "How about Forge?"
Sounds good to me brother
I turned to see Forge standing a few feet away from us. "Glad you like it then, Forge." Vivi smiled and walked to his side. "You know what I just realised?" They both stared at my with curiosity. "Forge and I are really the same person, one physical, one spiritual."
You're right brother, although we have some key differences
"Of course."
For example I'm partially evil
"Wait what?"
Different story different time, you need to wake up
"Fine, where's the exit?" Vivi walked over to me and placed her hand on my forehead, I bright light enveloped me and I woke up in my room. "I have a really messed up family tree." I turned my head to see the book of the Cult sitting on my dresser. Well, at least I won't have to retrieve it from Canterlot. I got up and changed into fresh clothes, I walked down the stairs and made my breakfast. After eating my cereal I opened my front door only to be blasted by ice cold air. I looked around to see snow everywhere. There was only one thing on my mind, it was in the middle of spring yesterday...
"SO HOW THE BUCK IS IT SUDDENLY WINTER!?!"
