The crowd cheered enthusiastically 3 ponies flew across the sky at full speed. We are the wonderbolts. Two had a trail of smoke, but the one on the left had a trail of electricity, that’s me. I am a colt, blonde hair, and a white coat. I have blue eyes and my cutie mark is a cloud with a lightning bolt going out of it. I never was happier, I am about to do my signature trick.

“Now it appears Stormchaser is breaking off from the group!” the announcer said. I fly up and my trail of lightning lights up brighter than the sun.  The crowd goes wild. I rejoin the group and one of the wonderbolts, soarin says something to me, but in a girl’s voice?

“Stormchaser, wake up! Your gonna miss the train!” he says to me.

“What?” I reply, very confused.

“Stormchaser!” celestia screams and I snap back to reality, looking up at princess celestia. You see, princess celestia isn’t my real mom, she adopted me. I am the son of what was her best general, general Bluefire. My father died in battle and his last words were a request, take care of Stormchaser. So ever since I was a filly I have been brought up by the princess herself. She tried to find time to teach me things, and she taught me everything, except, how to fly. But neither the less I have been brought up in the life of royalty. When her star pupil, twilight sparkle or something, went away she had taken a lot of time to try to teach me to fly, seeing I want to be a wonderbolt. But I just can’t grasp it, it’s a miracle I am naturally fast or I wouldn’t even have a cutiemark.

“What time is it?” I ask, very tired.

“Almost time for the train. Now get up.” She says and walks out of the room. I get up and pack my things. You see, I am going to live on my own today. I am leaving the city of Canterlot and going to a small place called “ponyville.” I pack my things and head outside the castle. Two guards are waiting for me.

“Good morning sir, the princess will not be able to join us on the walk to the station but she sends her regards.” One says and we head off to the station. The train was a mix of cars and I got onto my personal one. I wave goodbye to the soldiers and head on my journey to ponyville.  The train stops and I get out to find a beautiful town, not like canterlot at all though. I see earth ponies working and Pegasus flying. I extend my wings and attempt to flap them, nothing. I look like a retarded bird trying to fly. I sigh and give up. I walk into the park, feeling depressed. When you are the only pegasi who can’t fly, life can be tough. When I was on the bridge I guess I spaced out because the next second something rammed into me at full speed. Both me and the figure go crashing into the lake. There is a big throbbing in my head and I get up and see what hit me. It was a Pegasus, her color was baby blue and had rainbow hair. Her cutie mark was similar to mine but it had a rainbow lightning bolt. I instantly recognize her as one of the ponies from the ceremony. She helped defeat discord. She wasn’t moving.

“Are you ok?” I ask her. She gets up and wipes the mud from her face.

“What’s the big idea!? Why did you get in my way!” she yells at me. This is not the reaction I expected.

“I’m sorry, you were too fast, I didn’t see you.” I say. That comment seemed to make her smile.

“Do I know you?” she asks.

“You probably saw me when you were in canterlot, I usually am at the princesses side.” I tell her. Her eyes slowly drift to my flank, where my cutie mark was.

“Nice cutie mark, you must be a pretty fast Pegasus.” She tells me with a smile on her face. I laugh a little.

“Ha, good one, I can’t fly.” I say. Her face goes to a frown.

“What!? You can’t fly!? That sucks, I can’t imagine being a Pegasus who couldn’t fly!” she says, than she sticks out her hoof.

“I’m rainbow dash buy the way.” She says. I shake her hoof.

“I’m Stormchaser, you are real fast, I’m surprised you aren’t a wonderbolt.” I say. She sighs.

“I wish I was, if only they gave me a chance.” She says.

“Hey, at least you can fly! I wish I was a wonderbolt too, but they wouldn’t even glance at a Pegasus who couldn’t fly.” I say. she seems to cheer up.

“you’re a cool guy, Stormchaser, I hope to see you around.” She says and takes off to the sky. I watch for awhile and then continue to walk. I am glad I met rainbow dash, she is cool. I wander into a farm and I see the sign, it says sweet apple acres. There is a pony bucking apples, she looks tired. She was blonde and had an orange coat, wearing a cowboy hat. I go up to her and she stops bucking apples.

“hello sugarcube, how can I help you?” she says.

“oh hi, I was wondering if you need a little help with the apples?” I ask her. She nods her head and we go into the field over.

“my names applejack, what’s yours.”

“I’m Stormchaser.”

“Well it’s good to meet you storm chaser, you know how to buck apples?” she says. I make a devilish smile and run at one of the trees. Right before impact I turn and hit the tree with my hind legs. A electric surge goes up the tree and all the apples fall off. Applejack comes over to me.

“Man you’re a natural, maybe you can work here?” she says and picks up an apple I bucked. She takes one bite and an electro surge rushes through her and throws her into a tree. I run over to her.

“Oh my gosh, are you ok!” I say and help her up.

“Im fine, on second thought, I think I can do this by myself.” She says. I sigh and walk away.

“it was nice to meet you, sugarcube!” she shouts after me. I look up at the sky and see the sun setting, I guess I should get myself a place to stay. I go up to a blonde pony with a gray coat. Her cutie mark is bubbles and her eyes are faced in different directions. She had a mail pouch on and had wings. She turns around and sticks her hoof in my face.

“I’m derpy, do you have muffins?” she says, I couldn’t help but smile.

“I am sorry I do not, but do you know where I can buy a house.” I ask her. She points at a building.

“you can buy a house at filthy rich’s real estate.” She says. I am thankful so I tell her to follow me and she does. Man, she talks a lot! The whole way it was nonstop talk about muffins. We finally reached a place called sugar cube corner, I tell derpy to stay outside and I go in. there is a pink pony at the counter and her hair is crazy. Her cutie mark is balloons. I go up to the counter.

“hi welcome to sugarcube corner I’m pinkie pie how can I help you?” she says really fast.

“I would like 12 muffins to go please.” I say and she sighs.

“Muffins, who likes muffins. I like cupcakes. I don’t know why its called a cupcake when its not in a cup, it’s in paper. I mean, I also like real cake but cupcakes are more fun to eat.” She says and looks at me with a smile.

“Please just get me the muffins.” I say and she goes in the back and hands me the muffins. I pay and run out before she can start to talk again. I go to derpy and give her the muffins. Her eyes light up, she takes the muffins and shoots into the sky at full speed. Wow, that was, interesting I think to myself and I head towards the real estate place. I go in and filthy rich comes up to me.

“Hello how can I help you?” he says.

“I need a house, I have the money with me.” I reply. He smiles and leads me outside to tour houses. I don’t like any. Every house its either too big or too small. He gets frustrated but then I remind him I have the cash and he continues. We finally reach a house that I know it’s mine. It was a beautiful house built up and around a tree with a lake view. I pay him and he skips away with the money. I go up into my new house. It had a nice fire going and a beautiful view. I unpack and look outside to see the sun completely down. I put the covers on and go to sleep.

The next morning I went to sugarcube corner for breakfast. I had to listen to pinkie pie talking a lot but the food was worth it. I leave and I get an idea, I go to the library. There is a baby dragon cleaning the floor and I see a purple pony reading a book. I instantly recognize her as twilight sparkle, the princess’s most faithful student.

“hello.” I say and she drops the book and comes up to me.

“hi, you must be Stormchaser! The princess told me you would come here, how can I help you.” She says. We talk a little, mainly about canterlot when I ask her the question.

“Listen twilight, I know you are really good with magic, would you maybe be able to put a spell on me that lets me fly?” I ask. She sighs and my ears droop.

“I’m sorry storm, I cannot. There is no magic that can do that, I’m sorry. But I will let the princess know you are doing good, ok.” She says and goes back to her book. I leave and look up just in time to jump out of the way. Rainbow dash comes crashing out of the sky right next to me.

“Hey dash, what’s up.” I say. She dusts herself off.

“Well, I have been thinking, and I want to teach you how to fly.” She says. I crack up and fall on the floor laughing. She looks offended.

“What!” she yells. I get up and wipe the tears from my eyes.

“Listen dash, you’re an amazing flier but the PRINCESS herself tried to teach me and she couldn’t.” I say. Dash sits down next to me.

“I was thinking, maybe we can try to get In the wonderbolts together. You have real potential that could be great in the sky.” She says.

“You really think you could teach me?” I ask.

“I know I can.”

“Well, ok” I agree and she does a flip.

“Great! We start today after lunch!” she says and takes flight and goes to rest on a cloud. Wait, pegasi can sleep on clouds, cool! I cannot wait to fly, I think to myself and extend my useless wings. The rest of the day went by slowly but finally the time came and I went to find dash. She was sleeping on a cloud but she got up right away when she heard me. She flew down to me.

“Ok, lesson starts now. First open your wings.” She said and I did what she told me. I like rainbow dash, she is cool and I am really thankful she is doing this. I do all she says but I don’t get anywhere. After two hours I made no progress, except that I became good friends with rainbow dash. I flapped one wing but the other one went sideways and she sighed.

“That’s it, plan B!” she says and she bites my tail and flies up into the clouds. She spins me around and let’s go. I go soaring towards the ground. She perches on a cloud and watches me fall to the ground. I am freaking out and I guess instinct kicked in because I spread my wings and soar above the ground, right in time. I flap my wings to go higher. I did it! I’m flying! I see rainbow dash cheering as I pick up speed. It is so amazing! Than when I hit a certain speed a trail of electricity passes behind me, wherever I go. I land next to rainbow dash.

“oh my gosh I flew! I can’t believe it, how did you know!” I ask her.

“I had a feeling it work.” She chuckles. I run up and hi five her.

“hey want to race?” I ask.

“you know it.” she replies and we spend the next two hours racing around. We became really good friends. after the last race I fly to the ground and wave goodbye, she soars off. I go trotting by a house singing and I guess a pony inside recognized my voice because she ran out and tackled me. I looked up to see a white pony with beautiful blue hair.

“um, can I help you?” I ask. She helps me up.

“if I’m correct you are princess celestia adopted son Stormchaser, are you not?” she says. I feel really uncomfortable.

“Uh, yes.” I reply.

“Oh, fabulous, come with me!” she says and grabs me and pulls me inside.

“Hello, I am rarity, I am a big friend of the royal family, I met your cousin, he is not very pleasant, but I heard wonderful rumors about you!” she says and her horn lights up. I am then assaulted by coat cleaners and hair stylers.

“I have been very anxious to meet you but I could never find you.” She says. After an hour I finally escape the building.

“Thank you for coming, and don’t forget the name, Rarity!” she says and goes inside. I sigh and walk away. I get reckless and extend my wings and take flight. I go the speed so the trail of electricity appears behind me. This is the greatest feeling ever. Than out of nowhere I collide into… derpy? We fall to the ground and she pulls a muffin out of her bag and gives it to me. I get up and shake the dust off. I look at the muffin and she shoves it into my hoof.

“here! It’s an apology muffin.” She says and flies off. Well, that was weird. Now that I am on the ground I walk home. I enter the wood part of the area and I guess I got to caught up In the scenery because I collide with a pony. she was yellow and had pink hair. I help her up and a expression of fear crosses her face.

“hey are you ok?” I ask. She makes some kind of squeaky noise and takes off in the other direction. I feel really bad and follow her, I want to apologize. She runs in a house and slams the door. I look around, there is about every single animal out here. I look around in awe. She comes out and approaches me slowly.

“Hey, I’m sorry I ran into you.” I say

“It’s ok” she said, I couldn’t hear her though.

“Um, ok, so what’s your name?” I ask, hoping to banish the awkwardness. She lowers herself.

“Fluttershy” she says, I barley caught that but I let it go.

“Ok, fluttershy, it was nice meeting you. She runs back inside and slams the door shut, how weird. I take flight and head home. At home I ate some pie and got ready for bed when there was a knocking on my door. I go down and see rainbow dash.

“Hey storm, there is a huge party tonight, wanna go? She asks.

“Sure, where is it?” I ask.

“Sugarcube corner, come on were gonna miss it.” she said and takes flight, a trail of rainbow following her. I take flight and catch up with her. It is really hard to see in the dark, I run into a couple clouds and rainbow dash laughs. We finally arrive and walk in. this is crazy! I have never seen anything like this in canterlot. Ponies are going wild! There is a white pony with glasses DJing. There was food and strobe lights. Ponies were dancing and rainbow dash goes over to her friends. Hey! I know her friends! those five ponies I ran into in town. I go up to them.

“hey storm! I heard rainbow dash taught you to fly!” twilight said.

“yeah, she did and I am very thankful.” I reply. The ponies go onto the dance floor and rainbow dash gestures me to come to. I shake my head no.

“why not?” she asks.

“dash, I have never even been to a party! I have no idea how to dance.” I reply. She continues to try to persuade me.

“come on storm, DJ pon3 will even let you pick a song.” She says.

“no, I’m not dancing.” I tell her. She grabs my tail and drags me onto the dance floor. She has a way of persuasion. She throws me into the middle and I feel really awkward. I mean, even FLUTTERSHY is dancing. I try to but I get embarrassed, I suck at this. Rainbow dash is an amazing dancer. She looks at me and sighs. She comes over to me and whips her tail at my feat.

“ow! Stop!” I say but she keeps doing it. I move my hooves to avoid her tail and people start to cheer. She whips her tail and I spin around to avoid it. Everypony cheers loud. She stops and I stop moving. Everypony goes back to dancing.

“what was that!” I yell at her. She laughs.

“you were dancing storm, dancing!” she says. I guess I was. I laugh and we go back on the dance floor. The party shuts down and everyone leaves. Me and dash walk home, seeing our houses are in the same direction. She knows a lot about the wonderbolts, even more than me. We reach my house and before I go in she stops me.

“you know that spitfire is looking for some new members, and she is coming to ponyville tomorrow!” she says.

“How did you know?” I ask, very excited.

“DJ pon3 told me, you better refresh your tricksonary, cause we are going to show her our stuff tomorrow.” She tells me before fling away.

“goodnight dash!” I yell after her and go into my house. I run upstairs and get under the covers of my bed. Wow! Spitfire is coming! This is my chance to shine! Me and dash are becoming wonderbolts! I finally drift off to sleep after thinking.

I wake up to a pounding on my door. I get up and open it to see rainbow dash.

“come on! she is in the town right now!” she says and takes off into the sky. I catch up to her and we go over our game plan. We are going to do three entwining triple flips and a finally of a ground speed air strut. We fly down and call out. A yellow pony with crazy hair that looks like fire looks up at us and we do our trick. We reach the speed where a trail of rainbow and lighting follow us, being so close together the paths intertwine and create a beautiful scene. We break off and begin to do the flips. Everything went good until the final flip. I look over to see rainbow dash scream in pain. Her wing cramped up and she went falling towards the ground very fast. I rush at her at full speed, I got to save her! My path of lighting grazes around me as wind whips in my face. about a hundred feet from the ground I catch up to her and put her on my back. I pull up before hitting the ground. I rest her on the grass.

“rainbow dash! Are you ok?!” I crouch near her and she opens her eyes.

“yea, thanks to you.” She says and gets up, straitening her wing. Spitfire comes over to me.

“hey kid, your pretty good.” She said. My mouth hung open.

“th-thanks” I said.

“I need people like you in my team, so tomorrow I am holding a celebration, celebrating you joining… the wonderbolts.” She said and flew away at full speed. I am standing there with my mouth hung open. Rainbow dash gets up, she had tears in her eyes.

“hey dash, are you ok?” I ask. A tear drips down her cheek.

“Ya, fine, congrates on joining the wonderbolts.” She says before taking off into the sky.

“Wait! Come back!” I scream but she ignores me. My ears droop. I take a long walk and twilight comes up to me when I pass her.

“hey, congratulations, I heard the news.” She says. I ignore her and take flight into the sky. I rest on a thunder cloud. What do I do! Rainbow dash is my best friend. She taught me how to fly, but my dream is to be a wonderbolt. But if I become one, it will crush her. I stay on the cloud until the sun sets, when I return to my house. I go in and see a picture buy the fire. it was the one of me and rainbow dash at the party, when she taught me how to dance. I go up to my bed and fall asleep.

I wake up the next morning and get ready for the celebration, I made my decision on what to do. I fly over to see a huge celebration. The whole town was gathered around the stage where all my idols, the wonderbolts sat. there is a huge poster of the wonderbolts. Spitfire calls me up and I walk onto the stage, the crowd cheers. I see all my friends, twilight, pinkie pie, rarity, fluttershy, applejack, and derpy. I glance up at the side and see rainbow dash on a cloud, looking very depressed. Spitfire goes up to the mic.

“we are here to celebrate the welcome of our newest member, the greatest flier in ponyville, Stormchaser!” she says and points to me. The crowd cheers loud. I go up to the mic. The whole place goes quiet.

“Thank you everyone, I am so happy right now. And I am a good flier, but not the best. The truth is, I learned from the best. Four days ago I couldn’t even fly! The pony who really disserves to be in my position is my best friend, rainbow dash. She is determined, fast, smart, and the greatest friend I ever had. She helped me figure out who I am. So I am afraid I will not be accepting your offer, for I am NOT the best flier in ponyville, the real best flier is up there, on that cloud.” I say and point to rainbow dash. She flies down really slowly, shocked and lands next to me. Everyone is quiet, but then derpy starts to clap, and everyone joins in. the crowd goes wild! I go up and hug rainbow dash. Spitfire takes the mic again.

“You know what, firefight broke his wing and we do need a second member, so I guess we also will be welcoming, rainbow dash!” she says and hands up our uniforms. Each imbedded with our cutie mark. Rainbow dash pulls me aside.

“Thank you so much Stormchaser. You are the best friend a mare could have and I can’t wait to work with you, in the WONDERBOLTS!!!” she says and does a fan girl squeak. I laugh. There is a big party and later that night I sit down at my desk and pull out some paper and wrote.

Dear princess Celestia,

I would like to make you aware that I will be joining the wonderbolts, with my best friend rainbow dash. I learned that while chasing your dreams is important, friendship is better. A good friend can be better than all the wealth in the world. And doing things with your friends is way better than doing it alone.

Your step-son, Stormchaser.

I seal the letter and go outside. Thankfully derpy was walking by.

“hey derpy, would you mind personally delivering this to the princess.” I say and hand it to her. She salutes and takes the letter.

“no problem, I will be heading there right now.” She says and takes off into the sky. I wake up the next day and pack my things. I am greeted at the train station by rainbow dash and the wonderbolts. We wave goodbye to the town and get on the train.

Two weeks later:

The crowd roars as four ponies cross the sky at full speed, two have a trail of smoke, one a rainbow trail, one a trail of lightning. The four ponies, soarin, spitfire, me, and rainbow dash. We do another trick and I wink to dash, we break off from the group and head up into the air.

“it looks like Stormchaser and rainbow dash are about to do their signature move!” the announcer screams. Me and rainbow dash get close together and spin. The path of rainbow and lightning intertwine, creating a beautiful explosion. We fly down and rejoin the group. Dash hi fives me and we continue the show, and my new life.
