Chapter 126: A Third Chance

Previous Chapter

Author's Notes:

Okay guys, I'm really sorry for doing this to you, but after much thinking, I've decided that I'm not going to be continuing this story. I know I said I would, but during my hiatus away from it, I started considering all sorts of things, and I realised that I simply didn't have the same enthusiasm for continuing that I used to.

But that is hardly the only reason. After having written as much as I did, I began to feel that I was only going on as long as I was out of a sense of obligation more than any real want to carry things on. In truth, I was actually planning on stopping the story some time ago, back during the "Painful Confessions" chapter. It would have given a good degree of consequence to Twilight's actions and left the thing on a fairly conclusive note. But I kept on going, having got it into my head that I wanted to keep the story going for as long as the show itself was going.

But, I came to understand that, if I did that, I would just be dragging it out more than I already had been. Like many inn the comments have pointed out, this story had, in many ways, just descended into Twilight solving problems with very little consequence. And while I was happy in what I was writing and how I was writing it, I didn't feel comfortable just churning out the same basic thing over and over, especially since so many of my watchers were hoping for a resolution or some real payoff. Payoff that I either didn't think I was capable of giving them, or, at the very least, wouldn't have been comfortable writing about even if I could.

There are a number of other, smaller reasons for me pulling out like this, but the bottom line is that, for the foreseeable future, the story is done. Maybe, at some point, I might continue on with it, but for the time being, it seems unlikely.

Again, I'm sorry to all those who were hoping for more of this story. Those of you who have liked my work on it thus far have been very supportive and I thank you for all your kind words. And for those who didn't like it as much as the rest, please know that I never ignored your comments, as some of you thought I did. I read and paid attention to every one of them. But, as I said before, I was happy writing the story the way that it was. Even so, I appreciate that you cared enough about this story to offer your constructive criticism, and I tried implementing it where possible, even if I didn't always succeed in doing so.

Just as a side not though, I recommend you all go and read the story, "Take Two". It was the premise of that fic that inspired me to start writing this one in the first place, and it's still on-going. I strongly suggest you all read it, as it does a lot of the drama and darker subject matter that I wanted to have in my story, but just never managed to get across.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for staying with this story for as long as you have, and for now, goodbye.
