Flower Necklaces

by Just Some Guy

Chapter 1: Flower Necklaces

"Now, don't go and do anything rash, okay?" a brown Pegasus stallion told his son walking beside him to somepony's house "I know your mom likes to say that you're awesome and you would be an awesome flier and some other stuff like that, and I know you don't usually enjoy such things, but me being your father, I have to look out for you, okay, Aerostorm?"

"Okay, daddy" a young colt with a dark turquoise coat and a yellow & pale red mane covering his eyes, named Aerostorm, happily spoke "I don't really like some of the stuff mommy does anyway."

"Truth be told, neither do I..." the stallion shuddered in fear "Anyway, Rosie's house is just up ahead, see? Think you can make it there yourself, kiddo?"

"Of course I can!" Aerostorm nodded as he hugged his father and rushed towards his friend's house.

Earlier today, Fluttershy, the quiet mother of the one named Rosie, called Rainbow Dash, Stormy's mom, and asked if he wanted to come over and play with her daughter. Of course, Rainbow complied and allowed her son to be taken down there by her husband, Dumb-bell. Besides, it was a perfect day to play outside and do some epic tricks (said only Dashie).

Aerostorm ran up to the cottage door and knocked three times. The door opened to reveal Fluttershy, the kind and still quite young Pegasus mare with a cream yellow coat and a braided pink mane, who happened to be the mother of Stormy's best friend Rosemary. She smiled at the sight of one of her favourite faces to see around Ponyville.

"Why, hello there, Stormy" she greeted "What brings you here today? Wait, don't tell me... You want to play with Rosie, right?"

"Whoa! How did you know?!" the little colt excitedly said.

"I'm magic, you see" the Pegasus giggled a bit "Didn't you know that?"

"No, I didn't! That's amazing!" Stormy was still very excited.

"Well, come on in then" Fluttershy's hooves and head motioned for the young colt to enter her abode "Rosie has been waiting for you to come over all day long."

"Mommy, is that Stormy?" a cute female voice was heard from inside the house as Stormy stepped into the cottage "Oh good! I'll get my special stuff!"

"Don't be too long, dear!" the shy mare called out as loud as she could before turning back to an awaiting Aerostorm "I think you might enjoy what Rosie is doing today. But I won't give anything away. I think you should see for yourself."

"Okay then" the colt nodded before rushing upstairs to meet with his best friend. As soon as he got up to her room, he knocked on her door three times, awaiting an answer.

"Just a minute!" the young Rosemary called out. After a little while longer, the light cream Pegasus filly with a blonde mane and big green eyes emerged from her room with a small green saddlebag and a box of supplies in said saddlebag. She gave her best friend a kind smile before giving him a hug.

"Aww... Nice to see you too, Rosie" he hugged back, removing himself from the embrace a few moments later "So, your mommy says that we're doing something really special today. What are we doing?"

"Well, follow me outside and I'll show you!" the filly smiled again before bouncing her way downstairs, soon followed by Stormy not too long afterwards.

The two ran out onto the huge field of animals and flowers littered around Fluttershy's cottage. It wasn't too difficult to find a comfortable spot in the grove of millions of blades of grass. They sat down and Rosie immediately got down to business. She pulled out the box stored safely in her saddlebag and opened it, revealing multiple strings and many, many flower petals.

"What's this?" Stormy asked, curious as to what the activity of today would be.

"This is the flower necklace kit I got for my birthday, remember?" the filly reminded him, thinking about her birthday not a few weeks ago. She invited all the ponies she could, including Stormy and even young Pandora Sparkle. She was now 8 years old.

"Oh right!" the younger of the two remembered "Is this what we're going to do today?"

"Yep!" Rosie nodded with a smile "I was planning to make one for everypony I knew, including you! But I knew I couldn't do it alone. So, wanna help me?"

"You bet!" cheerfully exclaimed Stormy "How do we start?"

"First, you gotta take one string and lots of petals" she gave her best friend a visual list of instructions by using her hooves to hold the materials "Then, you gotta move this pointy bit through each one of the petals, like so. Mommy said she should do this part, but I'm a big girl now, so I think I can do this by myself. Anyway, once that's done, just do it over and over until... there! Done!" she showed him the newly completed necklace in her hooves.

"Whoa! That's amazing!" the colt saw through his mane-covered eyes and stared in awe at the newly completed and very pretty necklace made of the petals from flowers "Lemme try! Lemme try!"

Rosemary nodded and allowed her friend to use the kit for himself. He took one of the strings and very carefully attached more and more petals onto it. Finally, it was completed, and he couldn't have been more proud of himself. He placed it around his neck and smiled. He suddenly got an idea...

"Rosie..." he began, getting his friend's attention "Do we have anymore string and flower petals than this?"

"Hmm? I think so..." the young filly thought "Why do you ask?"

"...and... done! There we go!" Aerostorm smiled proudly before tossing his 409th necklace into the giant pile behind him. Throughout his entire play date with his best friend, he had managed to create hundreds of flower necklaces thanks to the kit lent to him by Rosie. He spent the entire day creating necklaces and talking with her that now the sun was slowly beginning to set. Rosemary was quite stunned to say the least.

"Wow, Stormy" she nodded in appreciation "That's a lot of necklaces. But what are we supposed to do with them all? I thought we were only supposed to give them to my friends and family."

"Well, I was hoping we could give these to everypony in Ponyville" the young colt shrugged. A smile appeared on Rosie's face.

"Well why didn't you say so in the first place?" she giggled before packing up her necklace kit, putting it back into her saddlebag, taking her friend by the hoof and dragging him back into her home where her mother was worryingly waiting for them to return. In fact, she was so worried that she had watched them play and make flower necklaces all day long. That's the mother effect, one would suppose.

"Mommy!" Rosie called out once she got back inside her home "Stormy and I made lots and lots of flower necklaces and we were hoping we could give them to everypony in Ponyville!"

"M-My goodness!" Fluttershy was slightly taken aback by this request, but she quickly warmed up to the idea "Well, I suppose that WOULD be a very nice thing to do... Okay then! Just let me get ready and I'll be with you soon."

"Thank you, Rosie's mommy!" Stormy smiled.

"Of course, little Aerostorm" she smiled.

It wasn't long before the trio of flower lovers began their journey around town to give every single resident a flower necklace. Fluttershy pulled a wagon attached to her back, which was, much to her relief, very light and easy to pull around. Inside the wagon were the more than 400 necklaces for each of the ponies of Ponyville. As soon as they entered town Stormy and Rosie took a few of the latter's creations and began passing them out to everypony they saw.

"Thank you!" spoke a cross-eyed grey Pegasus before gleefully flying away. This brought a smile to Aerostorm's face.

"Free necklace? Thanks, kiddo!" grinned a turquoise Unicorn mare before patting her giver on the head.

"These necklaces are amazing!" a mare with a cherry red mane and coat very similar to Rosie's smiled "This will go perfectly next to my flower shop!"

"Everypony is being so kind and nice" he spoke as he passed out more and more of the necklaces "I never thought that everypony would want these. I guess I'm just really good."

"Or you're really nice" Rosemary said as she approached her best friend "Okay, let's get back to passing these around!"

"Okay!" Stormy nodded. Right as his friend left, he turned around and saw somepony he never saw before in his life. The Earth Pony was a colt about his age with a grey coat and a darker grey, very messy mane. His face had a scar on it and one of his ears was nipped at the side. His blue eyes shone through his almost bored expression as he stared intently into a window. There was something about this colt that made Stormy have butterflies in his stomach, but he wasn't quite sure why. Slowly, he approached the unknown pony.

"Hello there" he greeted to the colt.

"Hmm?" the colt turned his head to see Stormy's "What do you want? And what's up with your mane?"

"My... mane?" Stormy confusingly asked "I'm not sure what you mean, but do you want a flower necklace?"

"No" the colt simply said as he turned back to staring at the window, disappointing the Pegasus slightly.

"But, I made it with love" he said "I wanted to give one to everypony in Ponyville."

"Well, I guess you won't be getting your wish then" the colt rolled his eyes "I don't want one of your dumb necklaces."

"I'm not leaving until you take it..." Stormy teased with a small smile. The colt let out an annoyed groan before turning around to face the Pegasus again and taking the necklace with his right hoof.

"There, happy?" the annoyed pony asked rather cruelly.

"Yep! But now you gotta tell me your name!" the blue colt's smile got larger.

"Ugh... It's Bruce..." the colt mumbled.

"Hmm? What was it?" Stormy teased.

"It's Bruce, okay?!" the colt shouted, not scaring the other in the slightest "Now... leave me be, okay?"

"...okay" the Pegasus nodded before gleefully walking back to his best friend and temporary caretaker. Bruce sighed in relief before looking down at the object in his hoof.

"Nopony has ever been all that nice to me..." he thought before smiling only in the slightest "Maybe... maybe...... no, never mind..."

Once Stormy, Rosie and Fluttershy had given out all the necklaces they could, they returned to the cottage only to see Dumb-bell and Bulk Biceps, Rosie's hulking father with a white coat, blonde mane and tiny wings, waiting for them to arrive. Next to Bulk was a much scrawnier teenaged stallion with a white coat, brown mane with nerdy bangs and buck teeth. He was Featherweight, step-brother of Rosie and biological son of Bulk Biceps.

"Weighty!" Rosie called out to her older brother, whom she loved very much. She ran towards him and gave him and her step-father a big hug, or at least the biggest she could give them both. Dumb-bell eyed his son and waited for him to walk towards him. Once he was within speaking distance, he greeted Stormy.

"Hey there, kiddo!" he smiled "Did you have fun with Rosie?"

"Yeah!" Stormy smiled before hugging his dad "We went all around Ponyville today and gave out flower necklaces to everypony. It was fun because everypony was happy afterwards."

"Well, I'm glad you had fun" the brown Pegasus gave his son a noogie before he turned to Fluttershy "Did he behave?"

"Oh, he was like a little angel" she smiled kindly "He stayed with Rosie all day long and made a few flower necklaces... well, a lot of flower necklaces. He was right when he said we went out and gave them all to everypony in Ponyville."

"Really now?" Dumb-bell gave Stormy a cocky grin "Well, looks like this little guy here is turning into a little hippie. I'm... not sure what my wife will say to that..."

"Oh, I'm sure Rainbow Dash will be fine" Fluttershy giggled "Well, I have to make my family dinner now. It was lovely having your son over today."

"Of course!" the brown stallion nodded.

"Thank you for coming over, Stormy" Rosie hugged her friend.

"You're welcome, Rosie" Stormy hugged back. After a while, they let go of the embrace and waved goodbye as the young colt climbed onto his father's back. Dumb-bell extended his wings and flew off back to their home in the clouds. However, all through the trip, Stormy could only think of one pony and one pony only.

"Who was that colt I saw?" he asked himself quietly "And why did he look so... so... pretty?"

Author's Notes:

This is a giant gift to Lopoddity! Without her, this wouldn't exist! Thank you, Loppy, so much for everything that you've done on deviantart, and I hope you do more soon!

First off, why isn't Stormy laid back like he usually is? Well he's a kid. True, kids DO have personality and can carry that personality to their adult lives, but they're also still very easy to entertain and usually pretty excited and curious. Stormy may be laid back sometimes, but he's still a kid, and we can't deny that.

Second, why was Bruce in this story? Well, I wanted to tie in their first meeting somehow. This isn't canon, so I really can do whatever I wish, no offense. Not to say my things are better that Loppy's, oh no! She's WAY better than I am! But still, it's pretty cute.

Third, why am I an idiot? Well, you see I- wait, what?

Be sure to Like, Comment, Favourite and Follow, and until then, stay awesome everypony! Oh, and Lopoddity? Stay super awesome!
