The Real Best Night Ever

Spike walked through the doors last, just in time to slid in front of his friends, and yell, "Yeah!" at the end of there song,

"And tonight is gonna' be the best night ever, because we are all gonna' hang out and-" just as he was about to finish his sentence, all his friends ran off,

"Oh horsefeathers," he exclaimed, not feeling the satisfaction he wanted.  He got up from his knees and walked over to the pony juice bar, up the staircase, in the party room.  Everyone was dressed up, and he could spot out all his friends.  Rainbow was hanging out with the Wonderbolts, Fluttershy was going out to play with the animals, Applejack was selling her apples, Twilight was talking with the Princess, and Rarity, his crush, Rarity was off flirting with, ugh, Prince Blueblood.  He trembled at that name, trying to steal Rarity away from him.

He sat on the tall table wearing his dragon tuxedo with the blue rose on his right shoulder, and ordered a ponyrita,

"Shaken, not stirred,"

After a few more ponyrita's, he flipped a few coins towards the ponytender, and hopped off the seat.  He waltzed over to the dance floor only to see all of his friends ignoring him.  He was angry, he knew that they wanted to hang out with him, but they were so caught up with the party, the didn't get the chance.  He threw a temper, he decided that if they didn't acknowledge him within the hour, he would leave.  He walked over to the hor dourves table and tried picking out some of the shrimp and other small dishes.  They were not the best, so he refused to eat anymore, stopping himself, and walked away.  There was a large group on the dance floor as the music kicked in.  Octavia was playing with her band, The Mayor was present, Hoity Toity, and Soarin and Spitfire were enjoying themselves, and to Spike's amazement, even Derpy Hooves was there!

"How did a pony like Derpy get here?"

He was still upset about the party.  He didn't expect this to happen, he felt more left out then when he thought Owlowicious was taking his job.  It had been well over an hour, and they hadn't even noticed him at the party.

"That's it, I'm leaving this place,"

He walked over where Twilight was standing, at the top of the staircase, but he couldn't directly talk to her from the massive crowed of ponies.

"Twilight! I'm heading back!" he shouted, but she didn't hear him.  He was furious, he ran back over to the bar and grabbed one more ponyrita to go. "This one is on the house," the ponytender said,

"From who?"

"A friend," and that's all he said.

He walked over to the Royal Guards opening the doors, and when he walked out, they asked,

"Assistant Spike, will we be seeing you soon?"

"I wouldn't count on it," he snapped and walked away.

The Celestian Tile was cold to his feet, and he walked out into the big open kingdom square, no pony was there.  It was like a ghost castle.  Everything was happening at the main hall, no where else.  He was extremely put down from the party, and he was getting hazey, every time he took sip from his drink.  It was funny because he ordered this without alcohol, no elixer, nothing.  He had to walk down the dirt path, surrounded by the trees of the Everfree Forest, then it would lead him back to Ponyville.  He started his trek down the dirt path, over the bridge, underneath the waterfall.  He was getting tired, and after he finished his drink, he tossed the glass cup on the floor, and it shattered.

The moon was glowing bright, and fireworks were going off in the distance.  His vision was getting blurry, and his hearing was getting faint.  He was walking along the dirt path surrounded by the trees, when his head started pulsing, and he went over to one of the trees, a big oak one, and tried to stop this massive headache.  It was so incredibly painful that he tried not to fight it.  He became numb all over, and his breathing became more relaxed.  His stress melted away like an ice cube in the sun, and his head bobbed from his shoulders.  Finally, he realized he couldn't stand it, and shut his eyes, unconscious.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He blacked in and out of his sleep.  He was being dragged across the grass and dirt.  He felt hands in his tux pockets, removing the coins from them, and then he was thrown into a dark room.  The whole thing took about an hour.  All he knew is that he was possibly taken home by Twilight, or someone else took him.

He felt a rush of cold water on him.  He was drenched by a bucket of the liquid, and woke up to find himself wrapped up in a chair.  A hard wooden chair with splinters and bugs crawling on it.

"Where am I?" he asked,

"Where are you?" a voice mimicked , "You're with us,"

He looked at his arms, and he was being tied down with pieces of thick cloth, and he was not wearing his tuxedo.  He was being held down by it.

"What did you do to my tux? This was extremely expensive!" he shouted at the unknown characters,

"I wouldn't worry about the tux," it snapped back,

"How did I get here,"

"Does 'shaken, not stirred' ring any bells?"

"You tricked me," Spike realized.  He felt so stupid, he was tied up in the Everfree Forest by a gang of unknown raiders or thieves that took him.  He could have been spending time with Twil-, oh, then he remembered, Twilight didn't want to hang out with him, nor any of his friends.

"What were you doing out there, dragon?"

"None of my friends wanted to hang out with me at the Gala, and my name is Spike,"

"The Gala?" One voice asked, and then there was mumbling coming from the corner of the dim lit room.

"It's a party," Spike shot out, but then, a hoof came flying out of nowhere, and SMACK! Right across Spike's scaly face,

"What the hay was that!?" he shouted,

"Shut up, dragon!" a voice called out, then they went back to mumbling, Spike wasn't too sure that leaving the party was a good idea.

"You stay here, dragon, and we will deal with you later," they said, and then shut a door, leaving Spike alone in the room, with the darkness and bugs crawling around him.

He tried to free himself, he tried budging and smacking, and the screws of the chair were fidgeting out of the slots .  The door opened, and the same group of unknown characters, obviously ponies, now, because he could hear the hoofsteps on the ground, and they spoke,

"You do realize we can't just let you go,"

"What are you doing down here?" Spike asked,

"We came here for one thing only, the rumors told around the forest are that there is a massive stash of gems, diamonds, and gold in a temple not to far from here,"

"Why are you telling me all of this?" Spike asked again,

"Because we thought you were trying to go for the treasure too, but to our mistake, you had no idea.  So, know that you do know about the treasure, I'm afraid we have to execute you before we leave to go hunt, to make sure you won't follow us,"

Spike turned cold, and had to get out of there fast, and the whole time they were talking to him, he was able to loosen both of the arms on the chair.

They left the room, but left a piece of paper down on a table in the room away from the chair.  The chair was dry now, and so was the cloth holding him down, he could be able to break out!  When the group walked back in, they had saws and machetes with them.  They were hooked up to there backs with straps, they turned on a light with an old light switch, very rusty.  They pulled the blades on Spike, and that got his blood pumping, and he torked his arm up, and broke off both the arms of the chair,

"He's free, get him!" they all exclaimed,

Spike dodged the first swing, and then took one of the arms of the chair, and threw it at the light bulb, breaking it.  The room was pitch black now, and Spike took the other arm of the chair, and blew on it with his fire breath, leaving just enough of a spark to start up a torch.  He waved it around and slammed it down on the vines growing on the walls.  The caught on fire, and soon did the rest of the room.  The three murderous ponies we stuck in the room,

"You dragon, look what you have done! You are a monster,"

"The only monsters here are you three, hope you burn," he replied with a straight face.  He never felt so much hate flowing through him, he needed to calm down.  He grabbed the piece of paper off the table, and shut the door.  He locked it, and left the murderers to burn in the fire.  He walked out of what he though was an exit, and he stumbled out of an old shack of a house.  It was very small, and was catching on fire. The ponies escaped out the back window, charred and burned, they tried to sneak away from him, but he spotted them.  He let them go, he couldn't stand watching them die, he would never get over himself for doing the deed. There were no trees around the house, it was in the center of an area surrounded by tree's.  The whole house soon collapsed, and the fire was put out by the extremely wet grass.  The Gala was still going on at the castle, and Spike was going to head back, but then, he looked at the piece of paper in his hands, and saw that it was a map leading to the stash of diamonds, gems, and gold.  There were pictures of a temple, a door, and many other things, and it told him where to start.

Was it the Gala, or an adventure of a lifetime.  He imagined what it would be like if he found all of those gems.  He would be rich, and he would be admired by everyone.  He decided to follow the map, determined to find the treasure.  He couldn't wait, and to think he would have just been sitting, watching all of his friends have the time of their lives, but this night was his night.  He trekked through the tree line, and started his journey.

Mines, Mines, Mines! (The Darkest of Descents)

Spike plowed through the bushes, and stumbled upon a small, natural made path leading deeper into the woods.  He took out the map and looked at the grid.  It said he was near the starting point, and he started along the path.

He walked slowly as the bats screeched and the owls who'd, It was very dark, but the light from the fireworks and his torch made a successful lamp.  The dirt was dry, but  the grass along the dirt was wet.  It was rare that would happen, for the dew would have been soaked up by the dirt, and made mud.  But this time, the dirt avoided it.  He saw that the trees made a wall and connected over his head, so he thought of it as an archway of leaves.  The moon was barley visible behind the branches, and the wind was blowing towards him, from ahead in the darkness.

He took another look at the map, which he pulled out of his scale pouch, and it said that it was leading away from the dirt path, across the wet dew grass, and into a large group of dense trees.  He hopped of the trail, and crossed over onto the woods.  He couldn't see a few feet ahead of him from the darkness, so he smacked into a few trees along the way.  The grass and leaves crunched under his scaly feet, and he pushed away the small twigs and bendable branches.  The whole thing felt like, well, a treasure hunt, but he thought to himself, that how could such a childish game, turn into such a deadly risk for fortune.  There was always a hint of doubt, and those fiends he escaped were still out in the woods, but he stuck to his mission.

He was almost through the patch of trees and twigs.  He pushed the remaining branches out, and hopped into another dirt path, he took one look at the map, and it stated that he was on the right trail.  It showed a long, swiveled line, standing for the trail, and then a big, dark hole.  What in Equestria could that mean?  He started down the trail, and it looked like the old one he was on.  It was untouched by the dew, and the trees overlapped each other, making the moon hardly visible.  He grabbed a few leaves and twigs, and threw them into the torch with his arm, since he was fireproof, and the torch blew brighter.

The trail he walked was very long, it was about ten minutes later, when he finally reached a fork in the trail.  There were to options, they both had rugged old, wooden signs written in a sloppy hand writing, Spike leaned over to the one on the left and tried to read it.  He couldn't see it, so he brought the torch closer to it, but to his mistake, he sent a few sparks onto the sign, and it caught on fire.  It burned very fast, and when it was finally put out, it was unreadable.

"Great, just great," he sighed, and walked over to the other one.  It was written in a neater hand writing than the other one, but still hard to read, it said 'Everfree Caves' on it, and an arrow pointing down the path.  He couldn't make up his mind, so after a random decision of 'catching a pony by the hoof', he decided to go down the path with the burned sign, away from the caves.

He walked down the path, and discovered a small ditch and the trail stopped.  It was a cliff, about 20 feet high, but it didn't feel like he was climbing a hill.  He came to a conclusion that it was a dead end, and he looked out into the open sky.  He could see Canterlot, and the Gala.  He could pick out the Wonderbolts flying around the palace, and see more fireworks.  He looked below and tried to spot out the path opposite of the one he took.  He found it, and walked back to the fork in the road. The moon was moving very slowly, about twice as slow as normal, he knew that Princess Celestia would leave the moon up for an extra amount of time, wanting the Gala to be very long.  He arrived back at the fork, and took the other trail.

When he reached the end of the trail, there was no cave entrance, no huge rock formation, only a pile of leaves, so it didn't make sense.  He thought hard, "Did I go the wrong way? No! I followed the map correctly,"  He couldn't solve the problem, so out of frustration, he ran over and kicked the pile of leaves.  The leaves exploded into a raining storm of them, they swirled around, and were pushed away by the wind.  Spike sat on the dirt, disappointed, but when he turned and looked at where the pile of leaves once were, there was a wooden door.

"What?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He looked at it in a discovering way, what was it?  He inched towards it, and the door squeaked, and opened up, all on its own!  How could this be, it wasn't the wind, not a breeze blew by after the leaves had settled, and nopony else was around him.  He looked down into the door, and all he could see was darkness, a black hole... Wait! It looked like the one on the map.  This is what it must of meant!  There was a broke ladder dug into the side of the hole.  The inside of the hole was rock, so it must lead to the caves.  Spike, without hesitation, hopped into the hole, and climbed down the ladder.

The Darkest of Descents

He went down deep, it was a hundred cross ties of the ladder exactly, when he reached the floor.  There was a gross stench in the air.  The floor, it was solid dirt, and the walls and ceiling were made of rock.  It was so dark, even the torch could only see a few feet ahead of him, so he kept close to the ground with the light, so watch where he was stepping.  The ceiling was 7 feet above him, and everything looked so strange.  It didn't look like any cave he had seen before, but couldn't get a full analysis on it because there was not much to see.  He stumbled upon something in the long cave that would help him, it was a lantern, but it was missing a glass lens.

It was no problem to Spike.  He knew that behind the rock, there would be a layer of sand.  He tried to look around for something to break the rock, and he found a rock of iron, and bashed the rock in with it.  The humidity was warm, so the rock was a bit softer then he expected, and when he reached it, a little hose of sand poured out of the wall.  He plugged up the hole, with the iron, and cupped the sand in his hands.  He measured the lantern hole, and blew his fire into the sand, turning it into a glass lens, good as new.  He pulled a spark out of his mouth, and lit the medium sized candle in the lantern.  He put the lens in, and it shined like a flashlight.  He looked around, and the light shined 30 feet now.  He traveled down the cave, and everything started to seem more strange.  He was beginning to think that it wasn't a natural cave.  Why was there a lantern down here, and the cave seemed to stay the same width and height the whole time.  Then, he figured out where he really was, when he looked down again, there were railway ties.  It wasn't a cave, it was a mine...

He pulled out the map, and jotted down where he was, the next picture was leading to another opening.  It was a large door, that seemed to look like stone, and a line, probably standing for the mine system.  He concluded that it meant that he was supposed to follow the cave system.  He put the map away, and ran down the mine hall.  This is where his true adventure begins!  The lantern was jumping up and down from Spike's jog.  It was the same sight over and over, rock walls and rock ceilings.  He came up to another fork in mine.  Three entrances, and there were no signs pointing in any directions.  "What do I do here?" his voice echoed,  he pulled out the map, and it didn't say anything, but he never did check the other side.

There was writing on the back, and a few numbers written on it.  It was a written in neat handwriting, it said that there would be three entrances, like the ones in front of Spike and that the right one would be revealed 'all in good time'.  It must be a riddle,  but what does 'all in good time' mean?  He decided to take a look around the mine for a clue.

He found another entrance, but it was a wooden door, leading to a small room.  There was a desk, a few papers on it, and many drawers.  Next to the drawers, there was a closet.  Spike walked in the room, and checked everything.  He started off with the desk.  There were a few drawers in it, he opened each of them, only to find some old pens, a few erasers, about 50 gold coins, which he couldn't take, and lot's of spider webs.  The light flickered as he looked at the papers on the desk, and they were from about 70 years ago.  They were just some job applications for a mining company, that went bankrupt a long time ago.

"They were looking for something," Spike thought, "Something they wanted to keep a secret, I never heard of this operation in the history books,"  He walked over to the dresser with the big draws next to the closet, and he opened up the first one.  Nothing but spiders and cobwebs.  The next one, more coins and a few gems, which Spike gobbled down on.  He also found a candle, and put it in the lantern, the old one was melted to the core and to old to last.  The last one, a key.  A very old fashioned key with two pivots on it, and a little handle.  He kept it in his hand, and walked over to the closet.  He tried to push and pull on it.  It was locked, with a very old fashioned lock.  Obviously the key fit into the lock, and he pulled open the closet door, and a rush of wind blew into him, almost blowing out his new candle lantern out.  What? This was a closet, no way there could be wind! But there was, he felt it.  "That was very, uh, very paranormal," he stuttered.

In the closet, there were some shelves with bottles of unknown substances, more coins, a few gems, and many cobwebs.  He searched the shelves, he ate the gems, and tossed away the coins.  They had no meaning to him.  He was on the last shelve, and there was a bottle of a very old wine sitting on the last item of the shelve.  He picked it up, it felt empty, and the title of the wine was The Good Times: Fine Grape Wine.  "Wait, Good Times? Time!" he figured out the riddle.

He opened the bottle, and a piece of paper fell out of it.  "A message in a bottle? How original," he thought and chuckled.  He unfolded the paper, it was old, musty, and torn on each edge.  It also had a brown tint to it.  It had an arrow pointing in a forward direction, and that was it.  He put it in his pouch, along with the map, and ran back with his lantern to the three entrances.  He ran down the center one, it was wider than the original one, and had a ceiling of about 9 to 10 feet.

He walked down the mine for another twenty minutes, and by the time he reached an actual point of interest, he had been down underground for an hour and a half.  He came upon another glowing light around the corner, and blew the lantern out, no need to waste the candle.  There were torches stuck  in the wall, but the cave was almost a century old, how could torches be lit?  He ignored the fact, and at the end of the mine, there was a huge circular door.  He popped open the map, and the door was, uh, some what correct to the drawing.  It looked ancient, and looked like it rolled over to be open, but how would he get in there.  He noticed there was writing on the door.  They were scattered and all over the door, and they were written in a odd language.  "How can I read this?", then there was a gust of wind from behind him, and it bounced off the door, and the letters written on the door slid across the stone into one sentence.

Present your reason of why you got here.

His reason of why he came?  Well, he came in search of treasure, "I came for the riches," he called out,

"Wrong answer," the door spelled out,

"What? That's why I'm here,"

"How did you get here?" the door spelled out.

He searched his pouch, and pulled out the key and the letter with the arrow on it.

"Present them," the door spelled out once more,

He brought them over to the door, and he watched as another gust of wind wished around them, and lifted up the paper.  The paper flew up in the air, and then burned up and evaporated, then the door spelled out, "Correct, put the key in the slot," and a little rock fell of the wall and revealed a slot that would fit a key.  He walked over, looked at the key, and slid it in.  It sucked the key up, and then closed.  The door rumbled,

"You may enter, adventurer," it stated, and then rolled over and opened.  The torches blew out, and Spike took out another spark from his mouth, and lit the lantern.  Behind the door, there was a huge architectural change in the mine.  It was no longer a mine, but a temple design, and a large staircase leading up towards another bright light.

All of his friends were still at the Grand Galloping Gala, probably having fun, but Spike was loving this.  Spike had nowhere to go but up, and he started walking up the many stairs, with only the gusts of unnatural wind and the echoing of the footsteps to accompany him.

The Temple Where Something Actually Happens!

Spike walked up the huge staircase, on the sides were large statues of ponies holding spears and bows.  It seemed that Spike was entering an ancient ruin.  Who knows what could be hidden in there?  Spike's lantern flickered as he walked up the steps and the rusty bolts on the hinges squeaked softly.  The unnatural wind was blowing down the steps, and he could see light at the top of the stairs grow larger with every step.  His dragon heart pumped in excitement, he thought of all the riches and gold he could have, and how many gems he would be able to eat.  Most importantly, how much he would be able to rub it in his friends' faces after he was done.  When he reached the top of the steps, there was a large walkway with no walls, just huge bowls of fire on the edges, leading of more than 100 feet into the darkness.  The drop off the edge was deep, and he could hear rushing water below him.  The drop would surely kill him, and he got a cold shiver down his spines.

He started to trek across the narrow walkway, and tried to keep his balance, even though there was a lot of space for him to catch himself if he tripped.  He was about halfway through the walkway when he looked upon the ground to find some sort of pressure plate before him.  He was so curious to step on it to see what it would do.  To keep himself safe, he broke off a piece of loose rock from one of the bowls of fire and put it down on the pressure plate.  Nothing seemed to happen, which killed Spike's mood.  "That's it?" but as he said that, the plate sunk into the ground, and all of the bowls of red-hot fire, turned to a blue flame.  "Oh, this is better!" he said, getting excited.  Spike didn't know why, but even though he was putting himself in extreme danger, he wanted it to happen, he always wanted this kind of adventure, not just stacking books and tending to Twilight Sparkle.

There was a loud roar coming from the side where he entered.  His body pumped full of adrenaline, he felt like he was going to burst.  There was a stomping sound of footsteps, huge ones, and with every step, the ground shook, and large cracks in the walkway shot up towards him.  He thought it was the best idea to run towards the end, and the beast was following him.  Spike started to feel delirious.  He felt like this is what he wanted, but as he was running away, he realized what he was getting put in.  Adrenaline was finally through his veins and he ran very fast with his lantern flying everywhere.  He tried to get a look at what was following him.  He flashed the light repeatedly behind him.

It roared again, very loud, and he could tell it was right behind him.  He got one good look at it, and he couldn't believe what he saw.  Chasing him was a giant dragon, just like him.  It was the same species and the same color, so he had to physically beat it, no matter what magical powers he possessed. It had large scales, sharp fangs, talons, and a very spiky tale.

All he could do is run.  He was charging down the walkway and almost fell a few times.  Where the hay did the dragon come from?  He didn't hear anything or smell anything, so it was like the dragon just popped up out of nowhere.  He could see the end of the walkway, there was another entrance, no door, just an arch way leading down to another staircase.  He was just about to get there, when a huge wall of blue flame shot out from the ground, blocking the entrance.  "I'm fireproof, the guys who designed this didn't think this all the way through," he thought.  He dived through the flame, but a shot of pain spat through his whole body.  He was thrown backwards, toward the dragon.  He had to defeat it.

Engage Epic Fight Scene: Cue the Music!

He faced the dragon, cracked his knuckles, and charged the dragon, having no idea what he was doing.  He dodged the first swing of the enormous fist of the dragon, and it came crashing down on the thick rock. He ran through it's legs. The walkway exploded, sending rocks everywhere.  Some of the debris shot up into the dragon's face, hitting his eyes.  It roared in pain, and swung it's tail frantically at him.  Spike knew that the only way to get safely up to it's head was by it's tail.  He spun around and ran towards the dragon, and grabbed onto one of it's scales.  He dug his claws into it, and sprinted up it's back and got onto it's shoulder.  The dragon brought it's fist up to it's own shoulder where Spike was trying to climb onto it's head.  The dragon was not the smartest book, actually, it was plain dumb, the IQ of a two year old.  It swung its fist down onto it's own shoulder, crushing it.  It was easy to tell that it broke it's collar bone and shoulder blade.  A edge of a bonesplit out from its back.

Purple blood poured from the bone in it's split back, and it hollered in pain.  Spike was actually winning the fight. He climbed up onto the top of the dragon's head, and started lashing out at it with his claws, but he was only able to remove only half a scale.  He realized that the only way to beat it, was by using itself against it.  He hopped up and down on its head to get it's attention, and another fist was brought down on it's skull.  Spike dodged the fist and landed on it's snout.  He ran over to it's left eye and stabbed it with his tail.  Purple blood poured from it's eye, and the dragon started to stumble around.  The dragon's heart was beating fast, even faster than Spike's, and Spike knew that the fight was coming to an end.  All he needed was to take out the heart.

He hopped of the snout of the dragon and free fell down onto the curved angle of the stomach.  He punched his claws into it, and the dragon, thinking it was going to finish him off, punched his fists into it's own chest so hard that it broke it's own rib cage.  There was a hole looking into the dragon's chest and his heart was visible.  Now came the final, and nasty part.  Spike held his breath as he dived into the open chest of the dragon, and sliced up the heart.  He was covered in blood, dragon's blood, and when he finished, he needed to aim the dragon to fall in the direction he desired, so he can land near the exit.  While it was about to finally black out, Spike climbed up on the head, and grabbed one of the eye lashes.  The brain was still sensitive to touch, so he tugged on the eyelash and the dragon fell forward.  He was thrown off the head of the dragon and landed near the exit.  Just as he planned, he turned around to see what he did.  "I would have preferred not to get wet " he snapped.  He wiped himself off, and the map lit up, very bright in his pouch.  He pulled it out, and looked at it.

Disengage Epic Fight Scene: End the Music!

It said, "Congratulations, you passed the second riddle,".   He thought for a second, and then asked, "A riddle to what?" and then, a soft noise came from the bottom of the stairs, the sound of a door slamming shut, but from far away.  He realized that he dropped his lantern as he grabbed the map, and he picked it up, and charged down the staircase.  While doing so, he tripped on the eleventh step of the hundred of them, and rolled down the staircase.  When he hit the bottom, he found the lantern to be smashed.  "Oh, ponyfeathers, that's bad,"  then the map lit up again, and it wrote, "Have some help,".  The lantern stood up and rebuilt itself.  It even re lit itself, and a gust of wind blew towards him.  He walked over and grabbed the lantern.  He said, "Uh, thanks?" to the empty temple, his voice echoed.  He found the door that slammed shut, and this one was like the room in the mine.  It was old and wooden, but he could tell that the door was a replacement for another.  There was dynamite holes around the wall.  There must have been another door here, but somepony blew it up to get through.

He opened the door and almost lost his lunch to what he saw next.  On the ground was a skeleton of a pony, with meat still on it, and flies buzzing all around it.  "Oh, poor guy" he thought.  He cupped his nose and shoved around it, sticking to the walls.  There was tattered clothing around the skeleton,  Maybe there was something helpful he could find in them.  He stopped hugging the wall, still with his nose cupped with one hand, he set the lantern down and aimed it at the carcass.  He looked through the pockets, and found some more candles.  There was a wallet too, it's licence dated back just as old as the mine.

The door lead to another dark hallway.  It was in a square shape, made of tile on the ground, and blocks on the top.  He turned the dial on the lantern to a more narrow and wide position.  He felt the wind blowing in that direction, so he knew it was going the right way.  He felt that the wind was his guide, and the map would show him hint's on the back of it.

His heart stopped pumping fast, and the adrenaline oozed out of him in small sweat drops.  They pooled around his feet as he would stop every few steps to watch out for any dangers.  He was very scared now, but still excited.  The wind blew harder with every step he took, and on the corner of the hallway, the wind stopped short.  He looked around, and found a door just like the one in the beginning, it had the same writing on it, and it spelled out:

State the answer to the Riddle of the Flame

"The fire was enchanted, and I had to face the fact that something's really can hurt me," he returned,

"Correct," the door spelled out, "Show the map,"

He pulled out the map, and the wind took that from his hands, and burned it up, and evaporated it.

"Hey! I need that,"

"Have a new one," the door spelled out, and a slot opened in the door and a new map popped out.  He took it, and the slot shut.

"Proceed, Adventurer," the door stated, and opened up.  The atmosphere didn't change to much from his point of view, but there was a difference in the temple.  There was vines hanging from the ceiling, and wild plants grew out from the the walls and grounds.  He looked at the map again and it showed a picture of an exit sign, which meant exit, an then a ladder.  Spike walked through and mad his way across the vines, and the bushes growing from everywhere around him.  There was moonlight shining down from a hole just as deep as the one he entered the mine in.  He put the lantern in his mouth, and climbed up it.  It took some strength , but he was able to climb out of the mine and temple.  He was out of the hole, and looked around to see where he was.

He was back in the Everfree Forest, and he could still see Canterlot, and the fireworks were still going off in the distance.  His friends were all still gathered around at the party, but he just had one of the best times of his life.

He was in need of another candle, he reached in his pouch and grabbed one out.  Something caught his eye, he pulled out another long stick, and instead of a candle in his hand, there was a stick of pure dynamite.  "This should come in handy," he grunted. There was still treasure to find, so he shoved off, looking at his map.  It said to run towards Canterlot, after exiting the hole in the ground, and that he would have to go back... What? The map wanted him to go back to the Gala?! Well, if the map says so, and if it would lead him to the treasure, then he would do so.

The Wolf of the Everfree (Caliceornousius)

While Spike was running back to the Gala, following the map, his friends were having problems of their own.  Everything they planned out on happening seemed to work, but as the party moved on,  Their efforts were wasted.  Applejack couldn't sell, Twilight couldn't talk to the Princess, Fluttershy couldn't play with they animals, Rainbow Dash couldn't 'hang out' with the Wonderbolts, and Rarity was unimpressed with Blueblood.  Well, maybe the last one about Rarity wasn't too bad for Spike...

"oh, this is not what I had in mind," they all thought.  Nopony even thought of where Spike had gone, they were too busy solving their problems.

Spike used Canterlot as a beacon to know which direction he was running, and the map was pointing towards the Palace.  Spike dodged trees and branches, and every step he sprinted, the Everfree Forest grew thicker and more lush.  His view of the kingdom became less visible, as the branches engulfed the sky, and acted as an arch above his head.  He shined his lantern dead ahead, and it was the only light source, for the moon was blocked of too.  A tunnel of trees, the path became, with leaves for a ground, and small critters as it's inhabitants.  But there was something more to the community of critters, something larger.  Spike could sense it, but the map couldn't, for it didn't shine and rumble in his pouch.  He slowed his pace, as his fear grew, he knew he was being followed, and he would probably have his physical fitness tested against him.

He started to grow internally cold, as his flaming excitement shrunk in his head and heart.  His heart was pumping faster and faster, and even though it seemed nothing was around.  He heard and read tales of a demonic animal in the woods.  Something dark, hairy, and larger than he is.  It violently tears through it's victims and ate them, a beats, but not a normal beast, a shape shifting monster.  It was known as "Caliceornousius", an old Alicorn Legend, written in native Alicorn Speech,  and it was said to live around these parts of the woods.  It had the power to look into peoples minds, and see there past memories.  His moral dropped low, as he knew it was more powerful than the dragon he defeated earlier, and would take more thank punches and kicks to finish it.

Spike's footsteps got softer, so soft that he could barley hear the leaves crack and his breath was louder than he was.  The wind stopped blowing, then returned, but blew away from the path thinking it was a sure sign of danger.  Everything went quiet as the wind blew it's last time, pointing through the tree line, and then a soft noise was heard... Whistling.  Somepony else was with Spike, right beyond the treeline.  He was so scared, he didn't even have time to think, as he reached for the branches covering up the sound.  He looked through and found something that was a strange sight.  There was an open spot in the woods, like the one were he was captured in, but instead of an old shack, there was a campfire, an old tent, and a few old logs, used to sit on.

Spike walked over, the fire was blazing, and there was a pot of some type of soup hung over it, in an old pot.  It was very hot, and there was a sack next to it, and old, sewn sack, with a string lace around it, to keep it shut.  Spike reached for the sack, and just as he was about to grab hold of it, a voice snapped out,

"Hey! What are you doing with my things?" The voice was rugged, but young.

Out of the treeline, a pony trotted through, and it seemed friendly, but something wasn't right.  What would a pony be doing out here?  Spike pulled his hands away from the sack, and looked up,

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought nopony was here, and I heard sompony whistling, and the soup smelled delicious,"

"That's very nice of you, but keep you're paws, or, claws off my stuff,"

"Right, sorry,"

"Well, if we are on the subject, would you like some of the soup?"

Spike hadn't eaten anything but a few gem stones down in the mine, so he accepted it.  The pony walked into the tent, and pulled out two bowls.  She brought them over to the pot, and poured them both a bowl.

Spike sat down on one of the logs, and grabbed a bowl.  He gulped some of it down, and it slid down his throat and warmed him up.  His fear quickly diminished, as the pony seemed nice enough, he tried to start a conversation, and shined the lantern on her to get a better view of her.

"So, what's you're name?" he asked,

"It's, uh," she stuttered, "you can call me Alice,"

"Alice? Funny name, not to many ponies have short names,"

"I think it's good to be different,"

"Who doesn't," he replied.

The pony was about Twilight's size, and looked to be her age.  She had a black mane, white eyes, with black pupils, and had a dark colored tint on her body hair.  Her tail covered up her flank as she sat down, and she gulped the soup too.  It was a broth, some green leaves in them, basil, maybe, and was as thick as water.  He was still curious about the sack, and he tied to get this mysterious 'Alice' to tell him what was inside, "So what's in the bag?"

"Just some supplies," she returned,

"Mind if I take a look?"

"Yes,"

"Oh, I'm sorry,"

"You should be," she said, a little louder.  She was becoming more hostile, and Spike was becoming aware that something was wrong with this pony.  He needed to know what was in that bag, he just had to.  He decided that he would try and sneak it, so when the time was right, he would snatch it, take a look, and put it back.

"So, what are you doing out here?" Alice asked,

Spike thought it was better not to tell her about the map, so he lied, "Just taking a stroll,"

"A stroll? But I thought you were going to the Gal-," Alice stopped,

"Wait, how did you know about the...Grand Galloping Gala?" he said slowly,

"Uh, uh, hmm, just a, uh, l-l-lucky guess," she stuttered very harshly,

"What?"

"I mean, you look like a fine classed dragon, and I expected you to go," she said, but Spike knew she was lying, and his spikes on his back stood up,

"So, Alice, have you ever read the story of the, uh, Caliceornousius, by any chance?"

"What did you say," Alice's head dropped,

"A beast, a shape shifter, and it can read pony's memories," he said, with a straight face, pointing the lantern at her, like an interrogation lamp.

"Uh, no, I haven't, Spike,"

Spike was sure,

"You called me Spike, but I never told you my name..." he lowered his voice,

"I, uh, I-I need to get something I left in the woods," Alice replied, scared, and she dashed off into the woods.  Her tail moved out of the way, and she had no Cutie Mark.

Spike got up from the log, spilling the rest of the soup from the bowl, and grabbed the sack.  When he picked up the sack, there was a liquid dripping from underneath it.  "Aw, what the hay," he said as he pulled the string.  When it came undone, there was a disturbing stench that was released from the bag, and when he emptied out the contents, he almost threw up, again.  In the bag was a pile of gross, dirty, torn up bones, with blood and flesh still on them.  They were old, he reached his hand into the pile, and pulled out a bone.

The fireworks started up again, and the sky was clear of the trees, as the branches blew back, and a gust of wind erupted into Spike.  The map started vibrating violently, and he pulled it out, and it said on the back,

There is danger, very close, run or fight, you're choice.

Spike never let's down a fight, and the adrenaline started pumping through his veins again.  His heart beat faster, and ran over to a shrub of bushes to confirm Alice and the monster.  He could only beat it, if he knew what he was up against.

Alice came back out of the woods, and looked for Spike,

"Spike?" she called out, and then she checked the soup, it was spilled over.  She seemed normal, and Spike began to question his theory, but then something happened, that changed everything.  When Alice looked at the ground, and found that the contents of the bag were emptied, a gurgling noise erupted from her mouth, and a hot stream of drool dripped from her mouth, she snarled, and fell over to the ground.  The whole transformation was gruesome, Spike could hear her bones shifting, cracking, and growing.  Her eyes were popping out, and growing smaller, turning yellow.  Her mane sucked back into her head, and her body hair over took her.  Her neck shortened and flattened out, and after the entire sight, she became a huge wolf.

A flashback slapped Spike across the face, and he could see it.

He was reading the book on the beast in Twilight's library, and he remembered the Caliceornousius in Alicornian Languages stood for werewolf (Obviously)

"Oh, how could I have been so stupid, Alice and Caliceornousius, it was right there, in his face.  His heart beat rapidly, and he charged out of the bush, ready for action.

Engage Epic Fight Scene: Cue the Music!

Spike cracked his knuckles again, and dashed towards the wolf.  It was unaware of his silent charge, and Spike hopped on it's back, scratching wildly at it.  He tore of chunks of fur, and scrapped it's back, letting it bleed out.  It's blood was a slight yellow color, yellow like it's eyes.  It kicked up wildly, and tossed Spike off.  He landed a few feet away, and the wolf charged back at him.  Spike had to act fast, but he wasn't fast enough, the wolf swiped him, and threw him very far, this time.  It didn't hurt him too bad, his scales absorbed most of the hit, and there were some very large claws jabbing into his stomach.  He torked them out of his chest, not leaving to bad of a mark, and came up with an idea.  He took the four of the claws, and blew on them with his fire.  He formed them into a small dagger, and used it as a weapon.  Now he had the upper hand, and the wolf charged at him, once more.

The wolf jumped on him, and pegged him to the floor.  It was about to swipe his face, clean off, when it leaned it's face into him, and Spike took the dagger, and jammed it into the right eye.  Yellow blood spewed from it's face, and it howled in pain.  The blood sprayed on Spike, and he got some of it in his eye's, blurring up his vision.  He wiped it out, but it was still all over his body.  The map was okay, but he needed the lantern to get a better view.  He ran over to the log, and the wind blew towards the tent.  He took the lantern, and made his way to the tent, while 'Alice' was trying to regain sight,  he searched the tent, and in one of the extra sacks he found.  There was a bottle, it read temporary magic.  Ah ha!  Spike had used this before, so he popped it open, and drank it.  His body felt odd, and his arms and hands lit up, like a unicorn's horn.  He could feel the magic, and he ran out of the tent and cast a levitation spell on Alice.  The wolf raised up in the air, and blood was dripping down to the ground in a big puddle.  Everything was happening so fast, and Spike was acting like a professional at this.

He slammed the wolf into the ground, and he heard a bone or two crackle, and snap under the weight of the massive beast.  The wolf howled in pain, and the spell was released.  The magic was wearing down, but when Spike tried to take another gulp of the bottle, the wolf got back up, and smashed the bottle away from his hands.  Spike swung the dagger into it's rib cage, and punctured a hole in it's side.  A small waterfall of blood poured out, and the wolf put it's paw over it, in a fail of an attempt to stop the bleeding.  While that paw was occupied, Spike jammed the dagger into the other paw, nailing it on the ground.  The wolf was pinned, and Spike took his claws, and smashed up the face, and let the rest of the blood pour out.  The wolf collapsed on the ground, and gave huge, heavy breaths of air.

Spike knew the battle was over, and he knew that he won.  The wolf let out a cry,

"Spike, come to me," it groaned, and he walked over to it, stepping it the huge pool of yellow blood.  The moon was reflecting off the blood.

"Yes, Alice?" he asked, he was covered in the blood, as well as the wolf,

"You were supposed to loose, like those other ponies," it whispered,

"Other ponies?"

"Yes, there was a group of them.  Three, I think, I killed them, and all I needed was you.  You ruined my plans,"

"I ruined you're plans to save many lives, and I think I know what ponies you are talking about, I ran into them a few hours ago,"  The ponies she killed were the kidnappers he was taken by.

"You saved nopony,"

"I'm sure I did, but believe what you must, you are going to be stopped from killing others, tonight,"

He pulled out a stick of dynamite from his pouch, and took a spark from his mouth.  He lit the fuse, and put the dynamite next to the wolf's slashed head.

"What is that? I can't see," it moaned,

"That's because I cut out you're eyes, you sick monster, killing you will be a weight lifted off of everypony's shoulders, and you wont be missed,"

"Curse you," it said, and let out a dying last breath.

Disengage Epic Fight Scene: End the Music!

Spike walked away from the dead wolf, and watched it as the dynamite erupted, and destroyed the wolf.  The fireworks drowned off the sound of the explosion, and Spike went over to the campsite, and burned that too.

He strolled back on his path, took out the map, and it read, "No threat,"  He followed the pictures, and headed off to Canterlot.  The wind blew even harder, and the map erupted.  A new note was written down,

Dear Adventurer, that was a mighty fine performance of you slaying the beast, but I would like to inform you that this was not part of the treasure map, you killed the beast on you're own terms, and saved ponykind by destroying it.  Well done!

Spike did that by himself, and it wasn't even part of the the map.  He was just too unlucky enough to run into the wolf at the wrong time.  Spike ran off, feeling good about himself, knowing he saved hundreds of ponies from a gruesome death, and as he wiped off the blood, the lantern jumped up and down, as the fireworks blew up in the distance, giving Spike a trail to follow.  It was his own Polaris, using it as a check mark, to now where he was heading, back to Canterlot, for the next part of the map!

Sneaking Into The Gala?! ('Stealing' the Elements of Harmony)

Spike was sprinting his way out of the Everfree Forest, when the wind started blowing... up?  How was the wind blowing up?  Spike stopped short, and tried to make sense of the wind current.  It was rising up from the ground, the dirt, and the grass.  The wind was blowing up the scraps of the tux upwards, so he wasn't imagining it.  The map lit up, and he pulled it out.  There was a, inscribing on it, and it read,

Hold On,

"Hold on, what does that me-" and the map stuck to his hands like glue, and lifted him off the ground.  He was being carried around by the map, and it sent him flying through the air.  "Holy guacamole!" he shouted, he was thirty feet in the air, when the map, still stuck to his hands, wished him over the tree line.  There was only a few yards left of the forest, but unaware of Spike, there was a large rapid flowing river, which would surly kill him, the water looked to cold for a dragon.  He knew that the map was going to take him over it.  The map moved over the river, and slowly began to descend across the river.  When he reached the other side, the map stopped glowing, released him, and he fell a few short feet onto the ground with a thud.

"You could have stopped when I hit the ground,"

"I'm here to help you, not solve you're problems fully," it wrote out.  The wind blew harder, and Spike grabbed the lantern.  He kept it on his tail as he soared through the air to keep it from falling into the water.  He followed the map's pictures: there was another long line pointing to the Canterlot Palace, then there was a picture of a mountain.  That probably meant the mountain Canterlot was rested on, then a poorly drawn cave entrance with an arrow.  So, there was a cave in the mountain were Canterlot was, but Spike never heard of a cave on the mountain.  He exited the treeline, and was back on the path where he started, when he was walking home.

He was walking up the hill, over the bridge, and under the waterfall.  He shined the lantern on the ground, and then he stumbled across something that he didn't know whether to laugh or cry about.  ON the ground was the shattered pieces of his ponyrita glass, still lying there, next to the tree he passed out on.  He decided to laugh at it, remembering Pinkie Pie's song, and he ran off.  The castle was only a few steps up the hiss, and he was at the main draw bridge, leading into the Gala in a matter of minutes.  He was about to plow inside, and get to the cave, when he remembered... he was still wearing the last remains of his tux, with yellow and purple blood on him.  He was covered in wax, and he had dirt stains all over him.  The guards would never let him in, and he caused a disturbance, they would draw their blades and cut him down like an animal.

He had to find a way past the guards, but if he did, he would be the first to do it, nopony has ever sneaked past the Royal Guard, so he needed to be extra cautious.  He knew the times of the guards shift, and with luck, they were switching up soon, so he had to act fast.  He knew that the Princess didn't put alligators or other monsters in the moat, so when the main guard at the entrance wasn't looking, he hopped in the moat. He had to leave his lantern behind, so he put it out, and threw it into the moat, and let it sink. The water was boiling hot, so dragon's were able to stand it, but if it was cold, he would have to rush, and his plans would be foiled.  He swam under the surface, taking small breathes in between his strides, lifting his snout above the surface, for a breath of air.  He needed to find the underwater entrance, leading to the massive wine cellar.  He was searching for the large hatch, but when he found it, it was locked.

He grabbed the lock, and tried to pull it open, but he couldn't make it budge.  The lock was very rusty, and Spike had to break it with something hard.  He dug next to it until he found a little boulder, and swam up to get another breath of air.  When he stuck his head up, he saw a guard walking along the bridge, and he was instructing a rookie guard with him.  Spike took a loud breath, and splashed under the water again,

"What was that?" the rookie asked, scared,

"Nothing, get back to work!" the guard snapped back,

"Yes, sir,"

Spike took the little boulder to the lock, and watched at it broke away.  He pulled open the latch, and there was a magical bubble of air surrounding it.  It was used to keep water from spilling into the cellar, and he pushed his way through it, stuck his arm up, and shut the latch.  The wax on his tattered tux, hardened, and he proceeded down the hatch tunnel, and stopped when he hit the bottom.  The cellar was huge, but it only consisted of one room, a hundred rows of racks, with millions of bottles of wine stacked on them, and there was a stair case, guarded by two guards, unaware of Spike.

He stuck to the racks of wine, and tried not to make any sudden movements.  There was a clock located across the room, and he peeked through the racks to see what time it was.  It was later than he thought, but the Gala wouldn't end for another, what? Five hours?  Yes, that sounded correct, and the guards were going to change shift in a matter of seconds.  He waited around, and he was correct, the next set of guards came down,

"Your off duty, soldier, go enjoy the party,"

"Yes, sir," they both said.

That was his time to move.  He was only three rows away from the door,  but he needed was a distraction, and the guards didn't look like the sharpest tools in the shed.  He thought of a quick plan, and grabbed a few bottles of wine.  He opened two bottles, and drained them out, leading off into the back of the cellar, then he threw the rest of them in the back, and they shattered and splattered everywhere.  The guards heard the noise, and they both ran the same way, and Spike went the opposite, towards the stair case.  He could hear the guards conversing,

"There's a trail of wine, they must be in the back!"

"Bet you fifty gold coins it was Goldspringer, he's always trying to get a buzz, that stallion stopper,"

"Ya," they rushed to the back, and followed the trail.  Spike ran up the staircase, and out of a small doorway, leading into the open courtyard of the Palace, with the Celestian tile under his feet.

He could see the main hall, all lit up, and the party guests holding conversations.  Spike's map lit up, and he took a look at it, and the wind blew up towards the hill, leading up and away from behind the Grand Gala Opening Hall.  He ran over, avoiding sight, and he dived behind a stand, placed next to the wall.  He looked at the stand, and grabbed a fruit from it, and took a bite into it.  He was so hungry, he hadn't had a full meal all night, but he didn't even know what he was biting into.  He looked down at the sweet fruit, and it was an apple.  Juicy and ripe, he only tasted one other apple that good, and when he looked at the stand from another point of view, instead of a source of cover, it was his dear friend Applejack's apple stand.

"Oh, Applejack," he sighed, he looked around the corner, and saw her talking with another pony, her dress was the same as she had arrived, but Spike was barley even wearing his tux, it was destroyed.  He decided not to go get Applejack, even though his body ached, and he was starving, he thought it would cause a commotion, and the treasure would have been lost.  He grabbed a apple dumpling, and a piece of Apple pie, threw some money down on the stand, and ran off the the wall of the Opening Hall of the Palace.  He saw Applejack trot up to the stand, and she picked up the money, looking at it funny,

"Uh, thank you?" she called out, having no idea where it came from.

Spike giggled, as he chowed down on the food, and he took a long look at the building.  It was in a cathedral shape, square on the edges, and shaped in a triangle on the top.  The wind blew upwards, and Spike grabbed onto the latter, pulling himself up.  He reached the top, and climbed up on the stone shingled roof.  He looked out, and he could see all of Equestria from the view, it was absolutely stunning.  He felt the wind blow, and on the back of the roof, there was a path, leading in a spiral way up the rest of the mountain.  He proceeded up it, and got a full 360 view on the kingdom, and the rest of Equestria.  The moon was so close, it looked like he could touch it, just like that.  He climbed up to the top of the mountain, the highest point of elevation in the known world.

It was funny, he was the smallest dragon, but yet the tallest and on top of the world, he felt overjoyed with himself.  The map pointed downward, and there was an arrow on the ground, "Seriously, arrow marks the spot, this is the most original thing ever," he looked, disappointed.  The arrow was pointing to a rock in the middle of the top of the mountain, and there was a slot in the rock.  It was just big enough to fit... dynamite in it.  Dynamite? But he was at the Gala, everypony would see the explosions, so he had to time the fireworks, and blend it in.  He got the plan after remembering the battle with the wolf, and he looked up in the sky, with a stick of dynamite from his pouch in his hands.

Everything was going into place, he seemed to have everything right at the right time, every time.  He could see the pyrotechnics group getting ready to launch the next set.  They lit the fire works match, and Spike took another spark out of his mouth, and pinched the fuse.  He threw it in the slot, and watched as it slid down, and then he ran off, to find cover on the edge of the mountain.  The fireworks slid out of their sockets, and the ponies covered their ears.  They were sent up into the air, just over the mountain, and the dynamite exploded, tearing the rock apart.  They were at the perfect time, and when they cleared, and the debris stopped, Spike ran over to the empty hole.  The mountain was hollow on the inside, or, well, it had a cave system in it.  He hopped down, and followed the trail....

The cave system was enormous, but all Spike had to do was follow the wind current.  There were lit torches everywhere, but the cave was empty, the same sight, every time.  Tunnel after tunnel, he followed the wind, and then, he reached a door, and it looked similar to the door at the temple.  It was written in the same language, and the letters on the door moved into a sentence.  It read,

Welcome Adventurer, you have made it, but be prepared for a challenge, you will have no help, but for what you find in the next room.

"This must be it, the room which holds all of my wildest dreams.  Treasure," he thought, his mind filling with happy thoughts.  The door moved back again, and wrote,

Present the Answer to the Riddle on the map,

"What? Riddle?" he asked, and then he noticed that the map was glowing up, he had not even noticed it, how strange.  It read,

"To unlock the door, you must find the true meaning of Friendship, present them in the photograph,"

Photograph? There must be a camera, and the true meaning of Friendship?  Spike shook his head in disbelief, he realized what he had to do, he had to get the Elements of Harmony, take a photo of them, and then return it.  He knew this would not be an easy task, but he knew where they were, and he knew where he could find a camera.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spike made his way back down the mountain, and snuck his way over to the Royal Library, where they stored the cameras.  The library was unguarded, but locked.  He climbed up the side of it, on the other ladder.  He got on the roof, and walked over to the stain glass sunroof.  He unhooked the latch and ascended into the Library, he landed on the top of the two story high book case, and he climbed down them, not dropping a single book.  He grabbed the the camera from the unlocked closet, and everything was going to easily.  He climbed back up the bookcase, but this time, dropped multiple books.  They crashed to the floor, and Spike hurried up.  Now that he had the camera, all he needed was the Elements of Harmony, at a close range.

He remembered that the Princess would be showing everpony the Elements as a display, when the party was getting riled up.  He charged down the roof, and hooked the camera around him.  He needed to sneak into the Palace, while everypony was gathering and finding there seats.  He had to shut the flash off, not to drag attention onto him.  He saw that one of the Palace windows were open, and he crawled into it.  The room was filled with ponies, not even taking the time to notice him.  He felt invisible, and he climbed hold of one of the drapes, and pulled himself up on the balcony level.  The area was restricted, and guarded by the Royal Guard from the outside, so he had the balcony to himself.  The light's dimmed, and Princess Celestia and Twilight walked down the isle to the large stage, and behind them, lay a chest, were the EoH were located.

Spike grabbed the camera, and turned the brightness up, and zoomed in.  The Princess gathered everypony with her voice and then she casted, next to Twilight,

"My fellow ponies, I would like to show you the Elements of Harmony, the true power that keeps Equestria safe from Darkness and in the light.  Thanks to my student Twilight, and her friends, they were able to recover them, and now... I would like to show you," she said, and she cast a spell on the trunk, it was made of diamonds, and costed millions of coins.

The chest opened, and out the EoH floated in a wonderful display, and all of the ponies clapped and made noises of curiosity.  That's when Spike aimed the camera, and pulled the button, triggering the camera.  It snapped the picture of the Elements, and he put it in his pouch.  He left the camera, and waited for the room to clear.  Once they had, it was twenty minutes later, and the Elements were safe.  He grabbed hold of the drapes, and the room was empty.  But just as Spike was about to jump out the window, in the dark room, and Royal Unicorn Guard stepped in the room.  He saw a shadowy figure hop out the window, and he yelled, "Halt, now!" and jumped out the window after the unidentified Spike.  He gave chase of Spike, but Spike couldn't take out a guard of the Royal Majesty, that was to much of a job, no time, and he would never kill one of Celestia's personal servants

He tried to lose him by climbing back up the roof, but the stallion was right behind him.  He jumped over the roof ledge, and got on the mountain trail, and ran up it.  When he reached the open top, where the hole was located, the stallion was only a few feet behind him.  Spike stopped, ready to jump in the hole, when the guard yelled,

"Stop, reveal yourself!"

Spike looked into the moonlight, his face was shown, and the guard recognized him.  He stumbled backwards, and asked,

"What are you doin' here, dragon?"

"Nothing," he lied, "Nothing at all, just taking a stroll,

"You aren't supposed to be here, and you have seen too much of the kingdom, spy!" he yelled, he was obviously a bit drunk, or just very clumsy, "You will die!"

The guard drew his sword, hastily, and Spike readied himself.  He couldn't bare to kill the guard, one of Celestia's friends, so he had to knock him senseless.  The guard charged toward's Spike, but Spike moved out of the way, just in time, and the guard stumbled upon his own hooves.  His sword was clenched in his mouth, as he readied for another attack.  Spike looked around in his pouch to grab something useful, and he remembered that the photo he took, it was still wet, and had lamination on it.  He peeled the lamination off the photo, and as the huge stallion galloped towards him, Spike hopped above him, landed on his back, and stuck the lamination in his face, temporarily blinding him.

The stallion stopped short, and Spike got off him, readying his kicks and punches.  He landed two hard fists in the guards face, and three kicks (counting his tail) into the legs.  The horse collapsed onto the ground, kneeling, and trying to get up.  His sword was thrown from his mouth, and Spike had to quickly point out a pressure point on the stallions neck, to make him fall into a deep slumber.  Spike reached around his neck, and when the guard tried to get back up, Spike landed another punch in the face.  The horse stayed at bay, his nose was bleeding, broken, and his legs ached.  Then, he pleaded,

"Please don't kill me, dragon, I'm just a rookie,"

It was the rookie that was on the drawbridge, no wonder this task was way too easy.  A real guard would have killed him in one go,

"I'm not going to, just pass out already, will ya'?"

"I can't do that on my own,"

"You don't need to, now," Spike finished, while reaching for his neck.  He squeezed the pressure point, and the guard fell asleep.  He had to get the unconscious body back down the mountain.

Disengage Shorter Fight Scene!

He pulled the stallion by one leg down the mountain, and to his amazement, he was lighter than he thought.  When he reached the end of the path, he pushed the guard off the edge, and let him land in a soft pile of bushes.  He will awake with no memory, and everything would be fine.  He would probably wake up thinking that he fell off the roof while checking for something, but Spike had more important things to worry about.  He walked back up the mountain for a second time, picked up the sword that the guard had left, and moved towards the entrance.

He hopped down into the hole, and followed the blowing wind back to the door.  He walked up to it, and a slot opened in the door.  He slid the picture into it, and watched as the door excepted it.

The map lit up, and stated,

"Correct!"

So did the door, and then it spelled out, "Be warned, you will only have what you find to protect yourself,"

And the huge door slid open, and Spike was amazed at what he saw.

Spike's Epic End Of His Epic Journey (Part 1)

A gold coin dropped from the entrance of the door, located on the ceiling, and Spike's mouth dropped to the floor, he was drooling at the sight, and his heart almost stopped from the pure excitement that overcame his body.  The door opened ever so slowly, and more coins, a few gems, and a diamond spilled out.  He kept looking in awe, and as the last crank of the rope tugged down on the door, it swung open, and crashed against the floor, falling off it's hinges.  A huge glowing light, sprayed all across his body, and he started to cry in joy at what he saw.  It was beautiful and Spike fell to his knees and prayed.  He prayed for making it, for completing his journey.  He held his hands, and spoke softly, through his tears,

"Praise Celestia, and Praise Equestria, thank you for this fortune,"

Lying on the floor, in a huge spread, reaching from the center of the room, and all the way to Spike's feet, was a huge, massive, enormous pile of gold, diamonds, and coins.  It reached the ceiling as the pile rose high up in the air, and Spike got back up from his knees, and climbed the top of the loaded room, and dived down into the diamonds.  He swam through them, all jingling in his ears.  There were much more treasures than just money, there were golden shield, diamond swords, silver armor, and crowns.  Everything a king would need, and Spike had it all to himself.  Out of his greediness, he compensated on sharing his load with the Mane 6, after all they were his best, and possibly his only friends.  He dug himself out of the shining stash of riches, and lay down on top of it, grabbing the biggest, most tasteful blue gem, and bit into it.  It was above holy of all tastes, and he enjoyed every millisecond of this divine cuisine.

After ten or so more gems, he felt an extreme vibration, that shook his while body.  He was snapped out of his ecstasy like state, wiped the drool from his mouth, and lifted the map out of his pouch.  The map was lighting up, almost as bright as the treasure, causing Spike too look away for a moment until his eyes adjusted.

His claws gripped the map tighter to force the vibration down, and he squinted his eyes as words began to carve into it.  It was a more 'insidious' hand writting, clawed down, instead of written...

It read: Pain, there is pain.  We warned you, and now, you must face the consequences of your actions, you greedy abomination.

"Who in Equestria are you calling greedy?" he yelled, hypocritically, and the map started to tear itself up.  The rips started at the bottom and sides of the map, and brought itself to the middle of the paper.  After it was split into four squares, they dropped from Spike's claws, and fell onto the gold, then set themselves afire, simultaneously.  The ashes were whisked away by one more blow of wind, and that was the last of the wind, he would feel.  The torches that were lighting the room, turned blue.  The whole scene changed in a matter of minutes (or three paragraphs) and there was a blistering silence.  Spike began to feel the fear rising up in his spines.

He talked to himself, "Okay, Spike, calm down, you got you're gold, now get what you can, and get out,"  He looked for an exit, but as he remembered, no exit was found, and the door he entered in was now sealed.  He was trapped, all he had was the opening in the ceiling, leading to the top of the mountain, or what seemed to be the top...

He was about to grab a handful of gold and diamonds, when he pulled something out of the enormous pile.  A diamond sword, and it was thick too.  It gleamed in the moon light, and he held it up for inspection.  It was never used, no dents, and it would cut through paper in no time flat.  This was way beyond 20% cooler than you're average sword.  It had a design on the base of it, had a cross like grip, and pointed edge, sharpened to perfection.  He was stunned at it, he had never seen a sword so beautiful in all his life, and he was completely distracted from the gold.  He was taking this, and all the gold with him, but it would take a ton of trips.  He put the sword in his other hand, his right one, and started trying to shovel some of the loot in his pouch.  He was almost full, when a strange noise raised down from the farthest side of the dome like room.  The blue fire twisted from each torch and then, they all were blown out by an unseen force.  "What is t-t-that?" he thought.

From the side of the room, a small opening in the shape of a small hole slid open from the wall, and a small light glowed through it.  That was now the only light source besides the moon, and the light started to get wider and wider, like something was being pushed through the hole.  Then, Spike watched in terror, and a long, string like worm slid out of the hole, but it had rock and red all over it.  It was moving towards him, slithering out, like a snake.  Spike didn't completely know what it was, but he was for sure, that when it got a few feet closer to him, it was made of pure lava.

"Oh, horsefeathers," he sighed, but he knew lava wouldn't hurt him, so he tried to ignore it.  It was extremely slow, Spike looked away for only a few seconds, as he emptied out his pouch, and prepared himself, when the light of the snake lava disappeared. Spike looked around, and the hole in the wall had shut, and nothing was in the room with him.  Did he imagine it?  No, it was there, so he hopped off of the treasure, and walked over to the wall, where the hole once was,

"What was that?" he said, out loud, and then a few words carved into the wall in front of his face,

"A distraction," it read,

"Uh oh," he thought, and then the floor around him sank.

The circle like floor started to sink, but the center with the treasure stayed at normal elevation, and he dashed off towards it.  When he reached it, the floor had sunk about ten feet, and then, spouts sprung out from the bottom, and the floor became to fill with water, and it reached two inches under the elevation of the treasure, almost splashing his feet.  He dunk his claw in it, and he sprung up.  It was freezing cold, a dragon's worst enemy.

He grabbed the sword, and he exclaimed to the empty room, "Show yourself!", and a voice came from nowhere,

"I am, I am here, I am everywhere,"

"What the hay is this,"

"I am everything, every element,"

"Who are you?"

"Some call me a monster, some call me a beast, but honestly, I have no name," it churred,

"So, physically present yourself!"

"I cannot, only by my will shall I, not yours,"

"Then let's finish this, I know you are here to stop me from taking the treasure,"

"Not from you just taking the treasure, but from you leaving here alive,"

Cue the Long, Infamous Epic Fight Scene

Spike went hot, his blood boiled, he traveled all this way, and he was leaving with it.  He yelled at the invisible being to come get him, he was ready for a fight, and he gripped the sword between his hands.

"As you wish," and another gust of fast wind whipped through the air, smashing Spike in the face.  He flew back, and smashed into the treasure, pushing some of it into the water.  He didn't notice it, and he got back up, his face swelling up,

"Is that all you got?"

"Far from it,"

Another few gusts of wind blew, and hit Spike's leg, bending it backwards, and tripping him over.  He held onto the sword, as he was punched hard in the stomach with two unseen fists, and he bent over and coughed, sucking in air.  He knelt down, and tried to catch his breath.  How could he fight something he couldn't see, he had to make up something.  He tried to reach for something useful in the treasure stash, but it was only met with more kicks and punches, across his face, on his back, and in his chest.  He was picked up by the force, and tossed farther into the pile of gold and other treasures.  His purple blood dripped down from his snout, and stained a few coins.  He tried to get his body to pump adrenaline in his body, but nothing was working right, his body felt like his insides were mashed up, and they probably were.

That didn't matter, the longer he stayed there, the more kicks he would receive in the stomach and the more blood he would cough up, coming from his chipped tooth.  Every time he tried top stand up, another punch was imprinted on his face.  But then, he realized what to do, and he aimed his body towards the pile of treasure, and when another hard kick came into his chest, he was sent flying into the treasure.  He tried to search for something useful, like a magic vile or an enchanted weapon of some sort.  He could here that something else was in the pile with him, it was following him, as he crawled through the stash.  He did find a few bottles in there, but most of them were wine, and not magic of any kind.  He tried reading the label, but after the second bottle, his foot was pulled on, and he was thrown from the treasure pile.  He slipped over to the edge of the floor, and was leaning over the water.  He saw the treasure shake, and an invisible figure erupted from it.  It was tall, and slender.  It looked like a very strange creature, but he could only see the shape from how the gold coins slid off the body.

He could only see one plan that would actually work.  It would put everything at jeopardy, but it was the only way.  In the water, the air pockets would show up on the invisible creatures mouth and skin, so with a deep breath, he grabbed the sword, and pushed himself into the water.  The beast followed him.

The water was freezing, and it pierced Spike's skin, but he had a task to complete, and tried to ignore the pain as much as he could.  He searched around, and spotted the creature, the bubbles were moving from it's mouth, but there was a large amount coming from it, so Spike concluded that it could breath water. "Great, just great,"  He took the sword, and found that the slicing motion was easy to move in the water.  He swung just next to the sir bubbles, and slashed into something meaty.  There was a green color coming from an area around the pockets of air, and he expected it to be the creature's blood coming from it's possible shoulder.  There was a loud screech, and Spike could hear it, even through the density of the could water.  That was enough of the water, and he pulled himself out, while the creature was grabbing its wound.

He pulled himself out, and blew fire into his hands, and rubbed his scaly body and warmed himself up.  He was feeling a bit better, and then he heard another splash, but the body of the monster was actually visible, from the blood oozing all over it.  The figure was not much bigger than him, but it was in the shape of a free form style.  The body was slowly moving around, and it was shaping itself.  The wound was healing up in the spot, but not fast, or very healthily.  If he wanted to beat the beast, it would have to be quick, fast, and used with all of the strength he had.  This was the challenge he had to face, so he buckled down his moral, felt the adrenaline pump and his heart beat faster, and he charged toward it, swinging the sword wildly.  He lunged the sword deep with the monsters stomach, and blood spewed all over the floor.  The pool formed around his feet, but not on him, just missing him, the pool spilled into the water, keeping the mess away from the treasure.

Spike's feelings started to enlighten, but then dropped as he was pushed away from the sword.  The beast's legs were now visible, but they were just long lines, and they were shaking two, and changing shapes.  It was beast with the power to change shape?  Who ever designed this was clever, clever indeed...  Spike got up from the ground, and backed away slowly, he watched as the monster slowly pulled the sword out of it's stomach, and the blood stopped pouring.  The sword was thrown at him like a spear, just missing his foot, and he tried to yank it out of the ground.  He pulled the sword from he ground, but it chipped away from the top.  It was now a flat top sword, but it was still useful for slashing.

A punch was landed right in Spike's face, as he was unaware of how fast it was, and he looked back up from his daze as the next fist came flying towards him.  With his reflexes, he dodged the punch, and brought the sword down on the arm of the beast.  It seared through the meaty skin and almost cut through it completely.  The arm seemed to only be holding on by a few strands of meat and flesh, and was wildly bleeding.  The monster payed no attention, and it brought it's almost amputated arm down on Spike's face, resulting in a slap, rather than a punch.  He had to drain it of blood, not try to chop it up, because it would just regenerate itself.  The arm attached itself back to it's hinges, and the monster was back in action.

Spike had his plan, and he wiped the blood from his face, and got in a fighting stance, and waited for the next few blows.  The new arm flew at him with lightening speed, hitting him in his chest plate, but didn't throw him off balance, it only pushed him back a few feet, with skid marks on the dusty ground.  He had a terrible thought, and he knew that if he was going to destroy this beast, it wouldn't not let him take the treasure.  He shrilled at the thought, all this way for nothing?  What would it be, Death... or Fortune?  He tried to suppress his thought, and he looked up, only to be struck again.  He didn't know if he was winning the fight, or losing it.  He had to be extra fast, and he was only giving a fair performance.

After the next punch was sent, he dodged it, like last time, brought the sword up, and hacked away, actually amputating the arm.  He could tell from the splat he heard, and the blood that was leaking out on the floor, in one spot.  More screeches, and Spike took the opportunity to  slash at the creature again, in the stomach, like he did before, but when he brought the sword to the stomach, he slashed to the left, taking out a big chunk of it.  More green blood spewed out.  The beast had A LOT of blood, but he could tell he was gaining the upper hand, but he couldn't taste victory just yet...

Spike's Epic End Of His Epic Journey (Part 2: The End)

Spike underestimated the power's of the beast, even with three appendages left,  he swung at it with his free hand, missing the monster.  His weight pushed him of balance, and he ran into it, where a fist uppercut into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.  "Ugh," he muttered, "That h-h-hurt,"  and a sinister laugh came from the green-blood stained figure.  It was the first time he had heard the creature make a less threatening noise since the fight began.  He barrel rolled over to a safer position, took a deep breath, but quickly emptied his stomach of the gems he ate.  It was the only time he actually threw up, when he didn't need to.  Turns out, that he felt much better after doing so, and he leaned over, and threw up once more, fully cleansing him.

He wiped his mouth, and saw the invisible fiend looking at him, it's head now covered in it's own blood, and just stared.  It was telling him to "hurry up" in a sort of taunting matter, which only made Spike even angrier at it.  He pulled the sword up, and charged into it, trying to slash at the slowly reloading stomach, but was only able to split a little bit up, hear some of the muscle splat out on the floor.  As more blood filled the water around them, the smell started melting away, and the blood became less of a hazard to Spike.  He thought of one of the most easily produced fighting methods ever thought, he ran up, and pushed.  He pushed the monster into the water, and bought himself some time.

He heard a few splash, than saw some bubbles come up from the water, showing that the monster had submerged.  Spike ran over to the treasure pile, and tried to reach for the opening in the ceiling, where the moon light was shining, but there was only a few options to get out of here, and killing the monster was one of the options.  The water bubbled back up, but when he heard the noise, he got an idea.  What if he used his enemy against his other enemy... In other words, what if he used the water to his advantage.  He warmed his body up one more time, and jumped in.  His body was getting used to the cold, but it would still kill him, if he stayed in there to long.  He felt around, and saw the blood leaking into the water.  That is where his foe is, and he lashed at it with the sword.

The impact of the sword went faster in the water, it cut through the liquid, and also the tissue of the beast.  What could this be?  He got an extra boost in moral as he felt like he was going to win this one.  He kept the sword into the body of the beast, and swam down ward, reaching the floor of the water.  The pressure was pounding against his head, and h jammed the sword into the ground, pinning the monster under.  He swam back up to get some air, scraped up some of the rock on the dry ground, and blew hard into it with his fire.  He formed a dagger, like he did with the ware wolf, and swam back under, jamming the dagger into the head of the monster.  It was very quick, and he swam back up.  He climbed out, blew fir into his hands again, and rubbed himself dry in seconds.  Maybe he actually beat it, after about thirty minutes of fighting, had he won?

FYI: No, he didn't

The was more bubbles coming from the water, and this time, an actually physical hand came out, followed by an arm.  Out of the water came a creature more disturbing and disgusting than what Spike ever imagined to fight, but all of the disgusting features were mostly caused by Spike completely tearing his way through it.  It was in the shape of, well... let's just describe it, from Spike's perspective:  It had two minus one arm(s), a body (torn apart from Spike) and two legs with a joint in between the calves, with two feet.  It still had the dagger in it's head, which explains why it wasn't standing correctly.  Severe head trauma, then Spike spoke up, "What the hay happened to you," mockingly, and chuckling at his joke.  He was sure he could win this now, and it had only been no more than, what? 55 minutes?

"How dare y-you," it stuttered,

"Well, it seems you might lose this,"

"Never, I never lose, I have killed every adventurer," it said between breaths, "to ever come this far,"

"Not this one," he said, and pointed his thumb at his chest, holding his head up high,

"No matter, I still have a few tricks up my sleeve, and I can assure you, who ever wins this fight, it will not turn out as good as it did for you,"

"What tricks do you speak of?" Spike asked, lifting up an eyebrow,

"You will see, eventually, now, come finish m-me off, I dare you,"

With Pleasure...

Spike walked calmly over to the creature, took his right foot, and brought all of his force onto the leg joint of the monster, over confident with joy, as the joint snapped, and a bone stuck out the back of the leg, bringing the once invisible creature to one knee..  It was now at his height, and he looked right into it's eyes.  Spike's green eyes and black pupils stared right into the monsters, and he grabbed the dagger out out the torn up head, and there was a hiss of decompressing gasses, leaving a hole in the side of the head.  There were pieces of the creature on the make shift 'dagger' and he watched as the last of the gasses left the head, and the eyes rolled all the way backwards, and the beast finally fell to the floor with a clutter, and the battle was done.

Spike looked at the body, and it started to sizzle for some reason, and the stench filled the air again, but was let out from the opened hole in the ceiling.  Spike tried to find a way out, climbing up on top of his treasure, and was so close to reaching it, but alas, still no use.  How was he going to get out.  He sat down on his treasure again, and had to come up with a more barbaric idea, but he thought it would work.  He decided to take the dead body of the creature, and stack it on the top of the pile of gold, and use it as a stand.  He went to go get it, but when he walked around the pile, there was no body...

"What, I'm sure there was a dead body right there," he said to himself, pointing at the blood stains on the ground.  He searched the ground, but there was no sign of dragging or melting, only stains.  He got frustrated, and then he realized, he was stuck.  He was blistering with anger, and he needed to just, you know, punch something to get his rage out.  Spike was easily agitated when it wasn't his friends ordering him around.  His senses were pricked up, and something caught his ear.  He dived like Rainbow Dash in the skies towards the treasure, and pulled out another sword, and turned around.  The torches turned back on, and standing there, right on the edge of the dry land, was his true friend: Twilight Sparkle...

"Tw-tw-twilight? What are you doing here?"

"I came looking for you,"

"But that's impossible, you need a map to get in here,"

"I, uh, found another way in," Twilight said,

"But all the doors were shut,"

"Spike there is no time for questions,"

"Yes there are, Twilight,"

"What in Equestria do you mean?"

"I can't trust you, this place might be playing another trick on me,"

"Then ask you're questions," she said, impatiently,

"Fine, let us begin,"

"When did we come to Ponyville?" Spike asked,

"This summer,"

"Why did we?"

"Princess Celestia wanted us to, for the royal decorations, food, and decor, but she wanted us to make friends, also,"

"Very good, now, how exactly did you find me here?"

"I, uh, followed you, from when you entered the cave in the mountain, and I followed you in.  We were going to take you home,"

"So, where were you when the door closed?"

"I hopped in the water, and held my breath until the fight started, then I found an escape door in the water,"

"Hmm, I see,"

Maybe this really was the real Twilight Sparkle he came to love, but something didn't seem right, but he decided to follow her directions.  "Now, come with me, we are going through the escape hatch in the water,"

"What about the treasure?"

"We can come back later,"

"Fine,"

Spike was about to follow her into the water, and Twilight was preparing to jump in, when Spike stopped, his mouth gaping at what he saw.  Everything started to make sense,

"You really aren't going to let me leave here with the treasure?" he asked,

"We can come back," Twilight returned,

"No, I wasn't talking to Twilight,"

Twilight had a confused look on her face,

"Who else is in the room?" she asked,

"No one, just me... and my enemy,"

"What the hay are you talking about, it's me, Twilight, you're friend,"

"Your not Twilight,"

"Your making no sense,"

"Guess what, 'Twilight', check you're flank,"

Twilight looked down, and everything fell into place, suddenly, there was a whirling noise, and then, a sword struck her in the neck, and Spike was holding the sword, notching it an all different directions, and pulled out the sword, letting her fall to the ground.  Spike was very clever at this.  (You probably think I killed Twilight, but before you stop reading and post a ton of hate comments, read this)

Twilight's twitching body fell to the ground, and she looked up at Spike, he could see him leaning over, and dunking his fingers into her blood, and when she asked, "Why?".  He put his fingers up to her face, and showed her the blood.  It was green.

"That's why,"

It was an impersonator, it was the creature, pretending to be Twilight (there, don't cry about it "No he killed Twilight" don't worry)  Twilight's body began to shape into the creature Spike fought for over an hour, and he knelt over and started to speak to the devilish nightmare of a beast,

"You thought you could trick me?" Spike asked,

"I tried to hard, but now here comes the time for you to choose,"

"Choose what?"

"Whether you live or die,"

"What do you mean?"

"The way this works is either, you can stay here and have you're treasure, but the doors will stay locked, and so will the ceiling, and you will die, but if you choose to live, you can leave through the door, and return home.  The treasure will be lost in the lava,"

"What lava?" Spike asked,

"The lava that is about to fill the room, and kill me, but possibly not you,"

Spike could here the lava coming through the walls, and even through lava didn't burn him too much, he couldn't breath it.  He was caught between his greediness, and his real life.  His greediness was very strong, and his brain egged him on to stay with the treasure, even if it meant his death.  Spike was just about to make his mind up, when something in his mind smacked him across the face, and yelled at him.  His conscious screamed, "What? Are you stupid?  You have a life back in Ponyville, not hear.  If you stay Spike, you will die, and you will never see any one of you're friends ever again,"

"I know,"

He shed a few tears, looked back at the treasure, ran over and grabbed a few gold coins, crushing his greediness, and went over to the creature, and told him his choice.

"I choose to live," he said, tears streaming down his face.

"Good decision, this lava is going to hurt,"

"Aren't you scared to die?"

"No, I have been moving towards this my entire life, and now my time had come,"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, you have been a very good opponent, but I never did catch you're real name,"

"It's Spike,"

"Spike, good fighting with you, there is a platform leading up to the top of the mountain behind the wall.  I will open it for you,"

"Thanks," he said, and he extended his hand, and shook the creatures.  After all of that fighting, he saw his differences, and possibly made a new friend, for a very short time.

The wall rose up, making a small door, and the water emptied out, forming a solid bridge leading to it.  He saw the holes in the walls open up, and lava started pouring into the room.  He took one last look at the treasure, and the monster lying on the ground, finally dead from blood lose, and he turned around.  There was a small platform, made of rock, and it was in the shape of an elevator shaft, and Spike stepped on it.  It rose up, using a pulley system with ropes, and it brought him high up onto the top of the mountain.  There he was, standing on the top of the mountain, were he had entered.

He got of the platform, and the ropes snapped, tumbling back down, eliminating the chance of going back down, and Spike walked over to the edge of the mountain, let his legs hang over, and sat on the ledge.  He looked over the Gala, as it was still going on in the night, and he saw Ponyville only a few kilometers away.  Spike looked at himself, and he was still wearing the tattered tux he came with.  He finally took it off, and burned them with his fire breath.  He looked at the small fire, and he knelt down and cried.  He put his hands on his face, and let everything out.  He came all this way for nothing, only a few gold coins that could buy him a few chocolates or some donuts.  He finished crying, wiped his face, and felt a little better about himself.

Maybe it wasn't about the treasure, maybe it was about the adventure, they excitement, the experience.  A grin began to grow on his face, and he started making his way down the mountain, back home.

He made his way back down the mountain, and now, he looked like a normal dragon, like Spike, and he walked slowly through the crowd of ponies, paying no attention to the damage done in the dance floor by Twilight and her friends.  He walked out the entrance, not being guarded by anypony, but he did hear some of the guards talking about one of them who was found in the bushes, and was now being treated in the hospital wing.  He was glad the guard he beat up was safe, and now he had to find his way back to Ponyville, fast.  He looked around until he found a wagon going to Ponyville, and when they started moving, he hopped on the back, and kept quiet.

When they reached Ponyville, Spike hopped off the wagon, and tried to spend his coins on the nearest thing.  He had no point to even keep the coins, it was less than what he even gets paid as an assistant.  He sighed, and as he walked down the dim lit street of Ponyville, he passed his own house, and walked over to his favorite donut shop:

Pony Joe's

Epilogue

Spike walked through the doors, and Pony Joe was manning the register.  He walked over to the counter, and sat on the stool.  Joe looked at Spike, and asked, "Jeez Louise, What happened to you, Spike?"

"What?"

"I mean, you look very tired, do you need anything or what?"

"Just get me three donuts, and a hot chocolate, I'm a little depressed,"

"Sure thing,"

He put the money down on the counter, and watched his 'treasure' get put in the register.  All gone, he put one arm on the counter, and supported his head as he took sips of the chocolate, and ate some donuts.  It was about forty five minutes, or three hot chocolates, five donuts, and a few swallows of sadness and happiness later, when he spoke up one more time,

"Hey, Pony Joe, get me another donut,"

"Are you sure, I think you have had enough,"

"Get me another! EXTRA SPRINKLES!" he lashed out, and went back to his arm-in-head posture, when the door opened up.

"Ha ha, Twilight Sparkle, long time, no see,"

That name, Spike shot out of his semi depression, hopped of the stool, and ran over.  "Spike, I thought we could find you here!"

"Oh, Twilight, I'm sorry,"

"No Spike, I'm sorry, we never should have left you,"

"Don't worry about it,"

"Well, I brought the rest of the gang, and wait 'till we tell you the story at the Gala,"

He looked over, and they were all there: Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash, all of his friends.  They pulled up to one big table, and Spike broke into conversation,

"So, how was it, how was you're best night ever?"

A huge Gala story later, and Spike listening in awe

"That sounds like the worst night ever!"

"It was!" they all said at the same time.  They all laughed, but then, the door opened up, and to there amazement, Princess Celestia walked in,

"That was the Best Night Ever!"

"Pardon me, Princess, but tonight was just awful," Twilight spoke up,

"Oh Twilight, the Gala every year is awful, I was so glad to hear that you were all coming, hopping you could liven things up,"

"Well, thanks, Princess," she said,

"Well, know that I'm still here, would you like to give me you're report on friendship?"

"Yes, Yes I would: Friends have a way of making even the worst of times into something pretty great,"

Pinkie Pie stood up, "And that made this the Best Night Ever!" and they all laughed, every single one of them, as a big, happy family.

"So, Spike, where were you this entire time?" Applejack asked up, and Spike looked at all of them, and a grin grew on his face again.  So hard, his face hurt, and then he spoke, "While you were out having the Best Night Ever, I think I had my Real Best Night Ever too..." and he took a deep breath, and let out a few more words:

Wait until you here this story...
