This place, there’s no hope for it. Nothing left for the poor, for the rich have taken everything. Homes. Food. Lives... My name is Ashurí, not a legal name I know, but due to some circumstances, I have had to change it. At the moment I am a renegade, hiding from the things that chase me through the streets. Anyways, the world wasn't always like this. Instead of the desolation, there was wildlife. instead of dead trees, there had been multiple healthy forests. Yeah, you get the idea. That was before the downfall of the city. It had all started two days ago...

(Ashurí POV)

For me, it was just another average day. Drag myself out of bed ridiculously early for college, shower, food, just going through the motions. Wearing my black hoodie, trainers and with headphones in, I turned my music up to 'The Moon Rises'.

I had gotten up to the corner at the top of my road when it happened. I was dreading the rest of the day. Monday was the longest day of the week for me and was the day that the college, as far as I am concerned, kidnapped us for an unreasonable amount of time meaning that we were only granted freedom at 4:30pm. I sighed reaching in my pocket to change the song on my phone when something massive crashed into me. I cried out in shock and pain. It had felt like I had been taken down by something that felt like a tank going over a really fat guy.

"Urg" I shake my head as I came too "the hell was that?". I then swore as I took a look around at the devastation happening. Buildings were torn apart, bodies littered the ground, most of which were cut in half as if someone had sliced and diced with saw blades. I looked at the floor, away from the bodies feeling bile rising in my throat. I then looked up and froze. There was a huge crater not too far away from me. Upon gathering my wits I decided to investigate the rather worrying looking cloud of gas and steam that was rising from the center of the crater. “Oh like hell” I muttered when I saw it. A meteor. "How did I survive that?" I ask while scratching my head.

I start to violently spin myself around as I heard a noise that was surprisingly like a Zombies, but more distorted. It was as if Zombies had been mixed with Slender Man's 'scream'. I then turned to the sound and instantly wished I hadn’t. 'Darkling's' as I would end up calling them. Pitch black figures of who they consume. You could tell who they had consumed by the fact that the body was just 'animated' and the eyes were as black and lifeless as the aura racing around them.

As soon as I noticed one of them though. All of them in the area started to look at me, leaving me feeling like a deer in headlights. I started to slowly backup watching them asses me, before running as fast as I could back down the road with the Darkling's chasing me. This chase continued on for what felt like hours, do not ask me how long I ran for, before long I stopped at the remains of a house of some people who I loved dearly. My Nan and Granddad.

I took a moment to look around to notice small meteors all over the place; in the ground, the grassy patch in the middle of a square road, the main cause of the houses being demolished sitting on top of them. I choked back a sob at the sight.

I only had a little while before the sounds started to ring in my ears. "Join us" I heard a Darkling say as I turned around to see my Mom and Dad. I shook my head in disbelief and took a few steps back "Come on honey, let's go back to the house" my mom said in a sick fashion of distorted motherly love.

"No." I say with my head bowed "No, I will not go back to the rubble that you call a home, nor will I join you"

"Ashley!" my dad shouted and pointed at the ground "You will come here this instance!"

"No!" I raised my voice back at him "Right now, I could care less about you monsters, what you have done to my real parents"

"After all we done for you! You would rather run away than come back to us! We did not raise such an ungrateful brat"

"Precisely, you did not raise me at all"

So yeah, that was one of the things that flipped my life upside down. The other one was what my shadow could do. I didn't know what I could with it but I was not afraid to test it out.

(Ashurí POV)

Shortly after meeting corrupted parents

"Do not make us force you Ashley!"

"Stop calling me that!"

"Then what would you have us call you!"

I started to think about names before a voice started to speak in my head "Let me take control for a bit Ashley" it said in a male voice

"Why should I, and who are you!?"

"You should let me because I can get you away from these fakes as you call them. As for who I am. You will know in due time"

"Alright, but what are you going to do?" I asked internally

"You will have to see, but before I do take over, what would you like to be called?"

"Are you asking me because they asked?"

"Partially. But I would like to try something with a name that you choose"

"Fine. My online alias is Ashurí. I always liked that name"

"No surname?"

"No. Now do your thing"

Of cause" the voice started. I then felt my body going numb as it started to move on its own "My name?". That voice. So much hatred. "You will call me, for the last time, Ashurí!" My arms then started to move to the ground as my body went into a crouch, my mouth opening. "As the darkness is as we see it, There will be no redemption. Thus, we must banish the light and fight the darkness with our own. Begone!"

And just like that, my shadow started to dance as it was transformed into darkness tendrils around me, accompanied by pulses of black and red energy. After this show of power, all the Darkling's in the area got in a circle around me for a second before they were all pushed back by the tendrils darting towards and through them leaving behind gaping holes. This included my parents. I then looked at them on the ground with no emotions , not a single bit of regret before an unknown darkness seeped over my eyes and my body hit the ground.

So here I am, days later, with a shadow that has a mind of its own. The voice was still in my head and I had decided to name him 'Add' since his voice was familiar. I had figured out a few things that I could do with my shadow, First off I was able to make myself a shadow apparition of anything, I found out that I could control it with a simple thought, I could make barriers around me and others. I wasn't sure of the capabilities of the barriers because I didn't have the means to test them.

Normally on days like this I would be hiding, but not today for I was in a field with a keyboard that I made out of darkness playing songs that came to mind. I started about two in the afternoon and was well into five. of cause, that was to be interrupted very soon. After another hour, a strange portal appeared in front of me as a being started to make its way out. It took a second to realise that it wasn't just a being, it was... Dun, dun, dun!

Anyone who got that should not be overly proud since that was pretty obvious, right? Anyways...

The pony walked out of the portal with so much of a royal air that it was starting to choke me. She opened her mouth to speak before a pink blur literally charged through her body.

"HimynameisPinkiePiewhatsyoursohdon'tworryaboutwhyi'mtalkingthiswaysinceIdon'tknowwhy" She finished with a smile, erecting a random noise.

"Pinkie, Don't scare him" said another as I looked at the portal and saw anew face, a purple alicorn "Sorry about that sir" she said facing me

"That's quite alright miss Sparkle, although you do not have to stop Pinkie here." I say "Besides, where's the fun in not being absolutely random at times"

Twilight looked uncertain "How do you know my name? I don't think I told you that."

"Well duh" Pinkie said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world "He's a psychic" she then took a heroic pose before I patted her head

"Sure, lets go with that" I pause before summoning shadow tendrils making a seat for me "Soooo, what do princesses of Equestria have to see me about because you appearing here was no mere coincidence"

"You are correct, we were trying to find a way to get the residents of Equestria to have a better view on different species as a whole instead of going of what somepony else says" she started

"Sure" they looked at me with shocked faces "Yeah, I'll go to Equestria. But first you will have to answer me this riddle, ok?"

"Ok-doki-loki"

"Good, now how do you get out of a room that has no doors or windows? The only things you can use are a table and a mirror."

A few seconds went by before somepony shouted "GOT IT!"

"Go on Pinkie"

"Well, you look in the mirror to see what you saw. You take the saw and you cut the table into two halves, and as we all know two halves make a hole so you jump out the hole."

I started clapping "Well done, as expected of Pinkie Pie. So, lets go"

"Hold on" came Twilights voice  "What about your worl-"

"It is a literal bomb zone, plus. I need to have a change of pace from killing Darkling's"

"Darkling's?" Celestia said with a hint of curiosity

"What do you think inhabits this world over than the surviving humans? Darkling's take the form of who they consume making their speech sound like a distorted version. Now lets go" I then pointed towards the portal while dashing towards it on a darkness apparition of an elephant "on an adventure!"

Twilight looked around as if looking for an answer. Yet she got none as they all decided to go through the same portal which will teleport them to the place they made it. Canterlot Palace...
