The Legend of Black Luster
Chapter 1: Prologue
Prologue
It was a sunny day, as always, in Equestria. The birds were singing and small creatures roamed fearlessly in the nearby fields. The sky was so blue you would think you could swim through it, and the sun shone down in all it's warmth and radiance. Behind the schoolhouse, little foals were playing happily, especially a small Pegasus colt with very dark black coat and a very bright white mane named Black Luster.
"Hey guys! Watch this!" He said to his friends as he flew high into the sky. He flew in their view of the sun and spread his wings casting a large shadow onto the ground in the perfect shape of himself. "Look guys! I AM BATCOLT!" He said as his friends first were in awe of the sight then started laughing at his joke. He flew back to the ground chuckling and said a quick goodbye to his friends. On his way home he heard a ruckus around his home. There were several dozen ponies all gathered around seeing what was happening with dark and intense looks about them. None of which he recognized. He squeezed through the crowd while gasps could be heard; it was as they were frightened of him. He got to the center to hear his mother crying. "Mommy? Is everything ok?" he asked staring at his mother's tearing up eyes. She looked away as if ashamed of her son. What was going on? What happened when he was in school? All of these questions raced through his head as his mind was pulled back into reality along with his entire body. He was being dragged away by one of the guards. "Mommy…" He said as she drifted out of sight.
He woke up the next morning. In chains. He had no idea of what was going to happen, or what was even going on. All thoughts that raced through his mind were of his parents and if they were ok. He was startled by a knocking on the cell door, and in walked a guard who motion Black to move. They walked for what felt like an eternity through and empty hallway. It was cold, musty, and the air was so thick it could practically choke you. They finally arrived at their destination; a dimly lit, cavernous room. The overall emptiness of the room was like a crushing weight, only adding to the confusion and fear Black Luster felt. On the far side of the room was a single piece of furniture. A towering desk of official appearance. And at the desk was an equally towering stallion. His flank was marked with a gavel and he wore a deep black robe and white powdered wig. His very presence was overbearing. And then he spoke...
"Name and occupation." The stallion said to Black.
"Um… Black Luster… Uh… School…?" He muttered as the judge glared at him.
"You have been charged with stealing the royal necklace of Princess Luna." He said with no feeling to his voice.
"But I wouldn't even think of that!" Black Luster retorted. "I was at school all day!" He told the Stallion. The Stallion looked at the young colt and looked away.
"It was stated earlier by an eye witness that the necklace was stolen by a colt whose coat was 'So dark it seemed to absorb the light around it'. I am sorry but that matches your description seeing how your coat is the darkest in all of Equestria. It seems that the only sentence proper as of right now is… well… banishment." The judge said.
"But I can find my way back…" He told the judge. The judge's eyes grew cold with a dark sort of humorous look on his face.
"Not on the moon you can't." The judge chuckled as he smacked his gavel into the desk. "Court Adjourned!" he shouted as Black was carried away and thrown back into his cell. There was not much to do in the cell except call for help to no avail, scratch the walls, or sleep. He did the latter.
When Black Luster awoke, he was in darkness. It seemed as if the atmosphere was not there. He looked around and saw a strange blue and cloudy orb. He was already on the moon.
