Chapter 10: To Shoot Or Not To Shoot
Previous Chapter Next ChapterSpitfire peeled out onto the main road, narrowly avoiding an oncoming truck.
"Shit," she gasped softly as she pulled out her cell phone, nearly going up on the sidewalk as she did. "Dammit..." she muttered as she speed-dialed. "Come on, come on... Pick up..." she whispered to herself as she swerved through traffic. "I know you have your phone..."
After a couple more near-death swerves, the call was answered.
"Well, I'm... surprised to be getting... this call... came a certain unicorn's voice.
"Oh, there you are," Spitfire said as she turned left at the next intersection. "Are you okay? You sound--"
"Like shit?" Twi interrupted. "One usually feels that way when everyone's against them..."
The pegasus let out a sigh, hesitating. "Where are you?" She asked.
"As if I would fucking tell you..." Twi spat, groaning a little.
"I know I should've trusted you," Spitfire admitted. "But, you have to admit from my perspective you do seem pretty fucked in the head. How was I supposed to know you weren't letting your paranoia get in the way?"
"Wow..." was all Twilight said. After a brief moment of hesitation, she spoke again. "And you wanna meet..."
"You're right..." the cop sighed, speeding passed a semi as she neared one of the smaller police stations. "I... I'm sorry, Twilight... But... you don't sound too good... Tell me where you are, let me help you, and let's take these bitches down together."
There was a moment of silence as Twilight thought before finally speaking up. "Fine... I'm in an alley... near the bus depot..."
Spitfire nodded as she sped into the parking lot of the police station, skidding to a halt. "By the bus depot. Got it," she said as she got out of her car. "I'll be there shortly..."
Smaller Police Stations
Hanging up, she made her way inside the small station before she was jumped by one of the cops inside; a blue unicorn mare with short green hair. Letting out a grunt, she kneed the cop in the chest before throwing her into the ground.
"Here, too..." Spitfire grunted angrily before a grey stallion came running from the reception desk.
Quickly grabbing his arm, Spitfire threw him into the wall, knocking him out. She then hung a right and ran down the hall, then turning left as she neared the staircase. As she got closer, a yellow mare with shoulder-length grey hair stepped out and aimed a gun at her. Before she could get a shot off, Spitfire tackled her to the floor. When they hit, the pegasus grabbed the mare's wrist and slammed it against the floor, making her let go of the gun. Spitfire then quickly rolled off the mare and grabbed the gun, aiming it at her.
As she did, she saw the mare holding up her hands in defeat as she looked back at her with a frightened and confused expression. Tilting her head, the pegasus lowered her gun and sighed.
"You okay?" She asked, receiving a hesitant nod from the mare. "Shit..." she muttered, getting to her feet and holding out her hand. The mare took it and stood up.
"Wh-What happened?" Asked the mare nervously. "Why can't I remember?"
"It's a long story..." Spitfire said with a light chuckle, patting her on the shoulder. "Check on the others... They didn't quite... snap out of it in time... before I... beat them down..."
The yellow earth pony nodded and took off towards the .lobby to help out. As she left, Spitfire ran up the stairwell and burst through the doorway onto the roof. Squinting her eyes, she approached the radio tower base.
"Um..." she muttered to herself as she got closer. "Ruby, Jade... If you two can hear me, and I know you can... Get to the Elementals..." She stopped in front of the radio tower, looking at a huge chunk taken out of the base, sparks shooting off as wires hung a in a crackling mess. "Our radios are fucked..." Tilting her head, she moved around to the side and let out a gasp. The chunk resembled a bite mark, as if something took a bite out of it. "What the..."
Mystic Star paced back and forth in Trixie and Lightning Dust's room. "What do we do?" She asked the group. In the room was Trixie and Lightning Dust, but also Chai Mocha, Pick Lock, and Blood Rain. "Our friends have gone crazy and are shooting up the town..."
"Well what can we do?" Asked Blood Rain, the dark lavender pegasus walking to the window. "And the cops are surrounding them..."
Chai got up from the couch and walked over to the window, looking out as well. "If we try and intervene... they may shoot us, too..."
"This is ridiculous," Trixie spoke up as she stood. "The police can't just shoot them. Can they?"
"If they are seen as a threat, then yes," Lighting said with a sigh. "Shit, this is getting out of hand..."
Blood Rain eyed her before looking out the window again. "Hold up..." she said as she watched the bullets fly outside. "They aren't shooting anyone... Just parked cars and buildings..."
Chai observed too and nodded. "She's right. There's others running around out there but they're being ignored..."
Lightning thought for a moment before standing up. "Those two mares Mystic saw did something to them... Put them under some kind of hypnosis, or something... What if they're only causing chaos and not trying to kill anyone?"
The dark lavender pegasus turned to look at her. "Then, the cops will play it safe... and kill them before anyone is hurt..."
"What?!" Trixie exclaimed. "No. They can't!"
"Actually, they can," said Pick, eyeing Trixie. "Our friends are seen as a threat... If this goes on any longer, they'll have no choice but to shoot them... Preservation of the whole is more important than the few..."
There was a moment of silence before Trixie let out an annoyed sigh, heading for the door. "Not if the Great and Powerful Trixie has anything to do with it!" She yelled, opening the door.
"The... what, now?" Asked Lightning, turning to face her with a confused look.
The light blue unicorn stopped and looked back at her. "Um... It was... something I called myself when I was younger... and into performing magic tricks..." After hesitating for a few seconds, she took off. "Come on! The others need us!"
Lightning smirked before following. "I'm in."
"The chance of success is actually very low given the circumstances," Pick said as she looked at the other two mares left in the room. Blood and Chai both looked at each other before quickly following after Lightning and Trixie. Letting out a sigh, Pick got up. "Wait, I'm coming, too!"
A teal cop wearing shades and a hairstyle similar to Spitfire's drove up to the line of cop cars blocking the street. Screeching to a stop, she got out and walked over to a pink mare cop.
"What the hell is going on, Cotton?" Asked the teal mare.
The pink mare looked back at her before holding out a pair of binoculars. "Fleetfoot, ma'am... It's the Elementals. They're shooting up the town."
"The Elementals?" Asked Fleetfoot, taking the binoculars and looking. She could see the mares and stallions coming down the street a few blocks away, shooting at buildings and cars. "Dammit..." she muttered, before spotting Applejack and Rainbow Dash. "Even you two..." She then lowered her binoculars. "Have there been any casualties?"
Cotton shook her head. "No, ma'am... They've only been shooting at cars and buildings..."
Fleetfoot gave her a nod. "Any word from Spitfire?"
Cotton shook her head again. "Radios don't work. Can't reach her."
Fleetfoot hesitated before sighing. "Are all routes blocked?"
"Yes, ma'am. Elementals are stuck on this street." She then looked down the street. "Are we... going to kill them? After they saved us?"
"That doesn't matter if they pose a threat," the teal pegasus said before hesitating in thought. "We can't risk the lives of the civilians... If they keep this up any longer, we'll have no choice but to shoot to kill..."
Spitfire stepped into an alley by the bus depot., gun aimed ahead of her. Down the alley, laying against a dumpster, was the purple unicorn with a gun aimed at the cop. Spitfire noticed it was smaller than the gun she usually had.
"That's a nice gun, Twilight," she said, stepping forward. "Smaller than your other one..."
"You didn't think I wouldn't have a back-up, did you?" Twi asked, her left knee up against her chest.
"I can't say I approve of the way you're aiming that gun at me..." Spitfire said as she took another step closer.
"How do I know you're you and not a puppet for that bitch?" Twi demanded through clenched teeth.
"Is that why you agreed to see me?" The cop asked. "So you could kill me?"
"If I had to..." was all Twi said as her eyes narrowed.
Spitfire kept her gun on the unicorn, the two locking eyes. For a minute, it seemed the two would have a shoot-out, before Spitfire lowered her weapon. She then holstered it and held her hands by her sides. Hesitating, Twilight let out a sigh and let her arm drop, the gun falling from her hand as she let out a groan, holding her right arm.
"You're hurt," Spitfire said as she ran over and knelt beside the mare.
"Of course..." Twi grunted. "I was thrown down a flight of fucking stairs..."
"By that dragon?" They pegasus asked with a hint of distrust.
"It wasn't her fault..." Twi groaned. "She was under a spell from that bitch Adagio... Like you..."
Spitfire nodded. "Yeah... And, your team..."
Twilight went wide-eyed and looked at the cop. "Wh-What?! Those other two bitches got my team?!"
Nodding, Spitfire ran her hand over Twi's leg to see if she could feel any broken bones. "We have to get you up and moving, or those cops will shoot your friends."
"Fuck that," Twi said as she started to stand up, letting out a groan.
"Whoa, you need to take it easy," the pegasus said as she grabbed Twilight's arm.
Twi just swatted her hand away before holding onto the dumpster. "Fuck off... I can do this..." she said with a light wince. "I can't let them get killed..."
"You're not fit to do anything right now, Twilight..." Spitfire said, concerned. "You can barely walk!"
"You underestimate me..." the unicorn grunted before she began to make her way down the alley, towards the street.
The cop squatted down and picked up her gun before following her. "You're so fuckin' stubborn..."
Twilight smirked as she limped out onto the street. "You like it..."
"Don't flatter yourself," Spitfire said as she walked over to her car, opening the passenger door. "I'll drive. Get in."
Twi hesitated before she felt a pain in her leg. "That would be best..." she said, making her way to the police car and climbing in.
When she was in, Spitfire closed the door before making her way to the driver's side, getting in. "Here's your baby gun," she said, holding out Twi's back-up. The unicorn eyed her and slowly took it before the cop pointed at the glove compartment. "Your real one's in there..." She then turned on the engine and put the car in drive.
Twilight opened the glove compartment and took out her custom gun before Spitfire took off.
Vinyl and Octavia were laying under their bed, listening to the sound of gunfire in the distance.
"They're in trouble, Vinyl..." the gray mare said softly. Vinyl eyed her before climbing out from under the bed, walking over to the closed window curtains. Octavia peeked out from under the bed and gasped, quickly getting out from under the bed. "What are you doing?" She gasped. "It's sunny out."
"I can take a little..." the DJ said as she opened the curtain partially to peek outside, sunlight hitting her eye. Wincing, she looked towards the sound of gunfire, able to hear the police talking about their plan. Vinyl then closed the curtains and gasped as she looked at Octavia, the huge burn around her eye slowly healing. "It doesn't... look good..." she said as her burn fully healed. "The police... might shoot them..."
Octavia nodded and closed her eyes. "I can hear them... Is there nothing we can do?"
The DJ crossed her arms and shook her head. "Not until the sun goes down... Though, I don't think it'll last that long... Either they solve the problem soon... or they'll die..."
"No!" Octavia yelled, taking a step forward. "We can't let them--"
"What do you want me to do, Octi?!" Vinyl asked, cutting her off. "What do you wanna do? Run out there and burn up?"
Octavia opened her mouth to say something, but changed her mind. Vinyl slowly walked up to her, smiling lightly before putting her hands on her hips.
"You're a vampire now, Octi..." she said as she looked the mare in the eyes. "You aren't... regretting it, are you?" She asked, sounding a little worried.
Octavia eyed her before sighing. "I'm more frustrated I can't help, but..." She then smiled and put her hands on the DJ's shoulders. "I will never regret being able to spend an eternity with you..."
Vinyl smiled and leaned in, kissing her on the lips. The cellist did the same, both closing their eyes and moving to the bed.
Trixie, Lightning Dust, Mystic Star, Chai Mocha, Pick Lock, and Blood Rain all gathered on the roof of the hotel.
"So, we hop rooftops to get behind the cops," Lightning said, going over the plan. "We then take them out, but no killing. We're just trying to keep our friends alive. Not kill cops..."
"Right," Trixie said with a smirk, facing the edge of the roof. But we may not have to hop..."
"What do mean?" Asked Lightning, facing her before crossing her arms.
"Twilight taught me how to use magic," the unicorn said as she looked at her hand. "I think I can..." she said, before walking to the ledge and holding out her hand. Concentrating hard, her horn and hand lit up with her blue magic. Grunting with effort, the unicorn watched as a blue platform formed between the two rooftops. "Heh!" Trixie exclaimed happily. "I did it... Trixie did it!"
Smirking, Lightning Dust walked passed her, patting her shoulder on the way. "Good job, Trix," she cooed with a smile as she stepped up to the magic bridge. Tapping it with her foot, she felt that it was solid. "Well, it is a bridge," she said with a chuckle, before running across.
Rarity's Boutique
Ginger walked down the hall of the boutique, carrying a broom as she was covered in dust. Letting out a cough, she passed by the upstairs bathroom. The sound of a running shower could be heard through the door. Stopping, she let out a sneeze, wiping some dust off her face.
"Ginger, sweetie?" Rarity called from the bathroom. "That you?"
"Y-Yes," the brown mare called from the bathroom, sniffling.
The sound of the shower quickly faded. "Are you coming down with a cold?"
"N-No, I... AH-CHOO!" She sneezed. "It's dust. I was sweeping under Sweetie's bed..."
"Oh, dear..." Rarity said as she sounded closer. "I'm sure it was quite dusty under there..." The door then opened, revealing Rarity wrapped up in a towel. "After all, she hasn't used it in..." She then tilted her head and reached a hand out, placing it on Ginger's cheek. "Oh, you're absolutely dirty, darling..."
"It's fine," Ginger said with a smile, and a light blush. "I'll clean up later."
"Nonsense," the unicorn cooed, gently taking Ginger's arm and pulling her into the bathroom. "Clean up with me. Come on," she said, closing the door once they were inside.
The brown mare blushed and felt her heart skip a couple beats. "O-Oh... Okay... Are you sure?" She asked. "I-I mean... we just started... going out, right?"
Rarity had let go of her and just turned on the shower, before stopping and turning to face her. "Oh, Ginger, sweetie..." she said with soft tone, walking up to the mare. "It's not like we have to... do anything..." she said with a light chuckle. "We're just washing up. Though, if you're truly uncomfortable with it, you don't have to shower with me."
Ginger blushed heavily and looked at the door before looking at the shower. "I guess we're... both girls..." she said with a light smile before setting the broom against the sink. She then pulled off her top, revealing her black bra. After slipping out of her shorts, she kicked them aside and stood in her underwear.
Rarity smiled and stepped up to her, slowly reaching around her in case she wanted to pull away. "Let me help..." she cooed, undoing the bra.
As she pulled away, Ginger let her bra drop to the floor, showing off her B-cups. Rarity noticed her blush growing and leaned in, giving her a quick, gentle kiss on the cheek. The brown mare smiled lightly and gripped her panties, pulling them down to her knees before letting them drop. Kicking it aside with her shorts, she stood fully nude.
"You look simply beautiful..." Rarity said with a smile, before letting her towel fall to the floor.
Ginger looked her over and smiled a little more. "So, do you..."
The unicorn smiled and stepped into the shower, holding her hand out for Ginger. The brown mare took it and stepped in, accidentally going too far and bumping into the white mare.
"O-Oh... Sorry..." she apologized as she felt herself bump into Rarity's breasts.
"No need..." the unicorn cooed, holding her close as their mounds pressed together. "We're a couple now..." She then pulled back from the hug and smiled. "Now... Let's get you cleaned up..."
Pick dropped down from the fire escape, joining the others on the sidewalk. They were now a ways down the street from the cops.
"Alright..." Trixie said, looking at the group. "Take 'em down... No casualties..."
"You realize we're attacking cops, right?" Asked Pick.
The blue unicorn nodded. "Sometimes, we have to go outside the law to do what's right. That's what being an Elemental's all about."
Pick and Blood eyed each other before Trixie and Lightning Dust took off. Mystic hesitated before following, is did Pick and Blood.
"This has gone on long enough..." Fleetfoot said before looking at the other six cops. "Open fire on my command!" She yelled, before hearing a grunt. Looking to her left, she saw Trixie tackling one of the cops, punching him the face to knock him out. "The fuck?" She asked, as Blood Rain rushed another.
The cops all turned to the incoming Elementals as Trixie moved on to another as Mystic ran up to one and kicked her legs out from under her. Lightning then made the made the mistake of rushing Fleetfoot, throwing a punch only to have it caught.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" The Assistant Chief of Police asked.
"You ca't shoot them!" The teal pegasus yelled.
"And, why not?!" Fleetfoot demanded. "They pose a threat to the city and its civilians. And, right now, so do you!" She then threw the mare to the pavement, pulling out her gun and aiming. "Stand down, or I will shoot!"
The other Elementals all stopped and looked over at them. The cops they had knocked down were starting to get back up.
"Wait!" Lightning pleaded. "They're under a spell! They're being made to do this!"
"What are you talking about?!" The Assistant Chief asked.
"I-It's true," Mystic spoke up. "I saw two mares hypnotize them in the lobby..."
Fleetfoot eyed her before looking at the teal mare.
"They're not aiming at civilians," Lightning continued. "Look around. They're avoiding them. I think those two mares simply wanted to cause chaos. Not permanent harm."
"Not to mention they're waiting all their ammo by shooting at nothing," Pick spoke up.
Lightning eyed her before Fleetfoot's radio crackled to life.
"Fleetfoot, ma'am," came a male's voice. "We have a vehicle approaching our blockade..."
The teal mare sighed and lowered her gun, taking out her radio and answering. "Driver?"
"One moment..." the stallion said. "Well, shit... It's Spitfire... and Twilight..."
Fleetfoot went wide-eyed. "Twilight?"
