The Backstory of Celestia's True Colors
Chapter 1: That Very First Moment
Load Full Story Next ChapterLittle Celestia was exploring the castle with her young sister, Luna; running around, finding places they've never been to, and generally acting like normal fillies. On that day, Celestia had her mane in a wild pink flowing ponytail, and her tail was styled in the same manner. Luna had her mane flowing rapidly in the wind and it seemed that it went with her mood. They were playing another game of hide and seek when Celestia happened to bump into a heavy metal door. On that door was an engraving of an alicorn with defined silver armor. Its eyes glew a bright, luminous green and swirls twisted around the figure of the same color. It seemed to pop off the door. Celestia was so tempted to open it, but she was imagining 20 scenarios that would prevent her from opening the forbidden door. Despite her best efforts, she opened it. In front of her eyes was a real live drakonikiss.
Celestia woke up abruptly.
She was back in her bedroom, safe and sound. It really was all just a dream. She never played that game of hide and see, she never bumped into that door, and she certainly did not find a young drakonici. But she still felt like that event in her head did happen. Suddenly, she looks down at her mane and tail and sees a streak of green in that beautiful pink of hers, simply wrecking her hair; at least, that's what she thought. Celestia began to go in a panic.
"How did this happen to my mane?"
"What's everyone going to say?"
"Am I going to be in trouble?!", she thought to herself over and over again.
Finally, after over an hour of panicking, she calmed down.

Celestia walked out of her room with very visible streaks of mane color chalk in her hair. She had bags under her eyes, an unkempt mane with the addition of the chalk, three hours late for her routine as a young princess, and a serious look of doubt on her face.
"Sis! Sis! Do you want to play a game with me?", asked Luna, with excitement and an abound of joy.
"I'm tired, Luna. Not right now.", said Celestia, along with a complete lack of enthusiasm.
"You promised!"
"Well I'm sorry, but I just got out of bed and I'm very-"
"What's that in your hair?"
"It's a new thing I'm trying"
Luna plays with Celestia's mane awhile and rubs off some of the pink powder scrubbed into it to find a part of a streak of natural green. The look on both of their faces seemed to stay forever. Momentarily, Luna thought she couldn't move or say a word, but then they snapped back into reality.
The Next Colors
"Sigh!", puffs young Celestia, "This day has been terrible, Luna. I think we should take a break by playing a long game of-"
"Tag, you're it!", quickly exclaimed Luna, then ran away.
Celestia started to walk down the hallway and everything looked very familiar in comparison to her dream from last night. She walked further, and it became more clearly recognised. Even further was just too much for her. Out of all the stunning coincidences, what really knocked her off her hooves was the same exact door with the same exact alicorn. She opened the door, but instead of the drakonakis that she most expected to see, Celestia saw Luna. Suddenly, a burst of light shot from her mane, and another color appeared. The streak of blue sparkled momentarily, then subsided from the chaos it had caused.
"Well THAT'S going to be hard to hide", Luna tells Celestia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Celestia walks into a dark room with a thick mist of purple smoke on the floor. Then she sees her mother, walks towards her, and falls into a dark pit of blackness.
She wakes up. Unfortunately, it was all a dream, but that leads to getting her last color....purple.
The End of What's Left
"Oh my....", said Celestia's mother, "What happened to your mane!"
"It wasn't my fault! Weird magic has been messing with it and is giving me nightmares", whined Celestia
"So that's why I've been hearing screams from you and Luna's bedroom..."
"That's not relevant right now, Mom! The point is, I think something bad is coming this way.
Black spirits started gushing through the castle. One by one, they all swarmed Celestia and tried to drag her to the dark side, but for some reason, they couldn't even touch her! The feelings she had when developing these stripes- pink in happiness, green in nervousness, blue in sadness and worry, and purple in bravery- have been feelings that Celestia has been feeling that the darkness doesn't. Caring and love is what they resent, so it shields her. A bright shining light shone forth as she thought of this. Then, a vivid fiery light pushed away the darkness and banished them forever!
"LUNA!!", shouted Celestia, "I'm so glad you made it! I was very worried about you!"
"I was worried about you, too, sis!", replied Luna
"I'm glad that everyone is safe", proclaimed Celestia and Luna's mom
She then held the two fillies under her wings and sang a lullaby:
In the waking of the night
Hush little children
Close your eyes
Sleep, Sleep
Worry not about the dark
Sleep, Sleep
I will never let you go
As the birds sing lullabies
Listen to their music
Rest your head
Sleep, Sleep
Worry not about the dark
Sleep, Sleep
I will never let you go
The lightning bugs will land on your nose
Let them rest
As so you
Sleep, Sleep
Worry not about the dark
Sleep, Sleep
I will never let you go
