Brian's Diary

------Chapter One: Brian's Dairy------

It's been, what...five years now, and goddamn, I have changed.  I've become a much better man in so many ways, it's like I'm a completely different person!  I've been more social, and I engage in a conversation everyday that is at least five minutes long.  I've made plenty of new friends in my countryside area, some of whom are bronies themselves.  I've got a better mood, I'm generous, always willing to smile, and wanting to make friends.  Despite the man I am outside my home in the day, every evening when I trudge back to my house, exhausted from my day, the smile disappears, and I bite the dust. I flip through my photos and sigh in both happiness and depression.  I read the note, which I've remembered by heart:

"Dad,

For fifteen years you took care of me.  For fifteen years you loved me, played with me, and made sure I enjoyed my life in a world not meant to house me.  I'm not a mare of many words, but even though I told you this in person, I felt you needed a written version of it so you will know it was all real.

I love you daddy.  You helped shape me into the mare I am now.  I'm not sure what is going to happen now, or if I'll remember any of this or not, but you did a darn good job of raising me, even if I was a bit stubborn at times and short with you during others.

With Celestia's permission, I hope to allow you to keep our photos; our memories, with you so that you'll never forget.  Again, I love you, and thank you.

Your little daughter always

Your little Dashie forever

Rainbow Dash"

Why am I so selfish?  I want her back, but that means she leaves her true home.  But she'd be with me; her father.  But I'm not her real father...  Oh, who am I kidding?  I AM her real dad.  I reread the note about ten times a day, and it fills me utter joy, because she's in the right place now. She's back home with her friends.  But it also fills me with sadness, because I'll never see her again.  I remember those words: "Your love for her is undying..."  It's so clear.

Signing off for the night,

-Brian

Today, I went to go and sit under the tree under which my reunion with her occurred.  I see her walk out of the brush, sit next to me, apologize, then ask a question I'll never forget.  "Daddy...  Do...do you still love me?"  As usual, I tell her that I do, and we lock in a hug.  Then I blink, and she's gone, like a baby spider on the wind. If there is anything I can do see her again, even if it's only five minutes, I would...  No.  I'm being selfish.  I'm at war with myself over seeing her again, and leaving her in good hands.  Her friends keep the secret, which is both right and wrong.  She can't know about me, but she has to remember her father.  I turned to the old tree, clasped my hands, and said a prayer.  "Oh mighty Celestia, here me and my prayer.  You remember me, I'm the man who took care of Rainbow Dash for fifteen years when she was taken to my world in that magic accident.  I know that this is wrong, and that our worlds cannot mix, but I want to strike a deal.  I want Dashie to have the ability of free travel between the worlds, and, I can do the same, becoming a pony when I enter Equestria.  But if this is to much, fine, I understand.  Thank you for your time."  I felt as if something flowed through me.  It felt good.  I don't think Celestia heard me, but I can't turn down any chance to see Dashie again.

Signing off for the night,

-Brian

P.S. I'm sorry for the short entry.  I didn't sleep well last night.

I just don't understand.  I think my depression is leading to insanity!  Today, I was reading the paper at breakfast when I heard an extremely familiar voice say, "Hi daddy!"  I turned to see a flash of light, that blinded me in a...sort of...nice way.  When the light cleared, I found a cyan feather in its place.  I looked at it funny.  It looked just like Dashie's feathers.  It had the same kind of invisible ora of magic around it, I could feel it.  It had the same sky blue-cyan hue as Dashie.  It couldn't have come from anyone, or in this case, anypony else.  It was her feather!  But that's not possible.  The worlds are sealed off from each other, preventing travel without breaking the seal.  But if the seal was broken, Celestia would've known.  I decided to watch TV, and catch myself up on Friendship is Magic.  I must've watched two whole seasons.  I watched season 2 and 3, surprised by Discord's reformation, and Twilight becoming a princess.  Now I understood why Twilight had wings when she and Celestia STOLE DASHIE FROM ME!  No, they took her to a better place.  Goddammit!  This war is getting worse, and I'm not sure how much longer I can last.  I started to wonder.  "My love for her is undying...?  That's like a link.  Maybe, we are still attached at heart."  A stupid theory if you ask me.  Or isn't it?  I went back to the feather.  It was still lying on the floor, bright cyan without a trace of any other color.  I picked it up, and I heard something in my head.  It was Dashie!  She was crying.  I closed my eyes, and my mind sort of...blinked out of reality, I guess?  I was standing in void.  Nothing around me, nothing at all.  Just black.  I looked down, and sighed in relief to see my feet.  I took a step forward into nothing.  I felt the ground beneath me, yet nothing was there.  Suddenly, a light appeared in front of me.  It was like a spotlight.  Sitting in the light was Dashie!  It was her!  She was sobbing uncontrollably, making puddles of salty tears on the nonexistent ground.  She didn't say anything, she just cried her heart out. I tried to move to comfort her, but my feet felt like they were glued to the ground.  She was within reach, so I could easily pet her, and preen her feathers.  When I reached out, I moved in slow motion, feeling as if I was being restricted by an invisible magic.  Dashie didn't even care to notice me, she kept on crying.  I finally reached her, but the instant I felt her soft, furry coat, the light went out.  I opened my eyes.  I was standing in my kitchen, holding the cyan feather.  I looked outside to see the moon in the sky.  It was only morning when I held the feather!  I looked at the clock.  It was the kind that's an analog clock, with an LED display to tell the date.  It was 1:45 in the morning, and according to the calendar, it was the next day.  I had been stuck in that void with Dashie for 17 HOURS.  It only felt like a few minutes, when in reality, it was almost an entire day!  I stopped and stared blankly at the feather.  I was so close, yet so far.  I was THIS close to reuniting with my Dashie!  I guess I better get to sleep.  It's late.

Signing off for the night,

-Brian

Meanwhile

--------Chapter Two: Meanwhile ------

The six ponies gathered around, Rainbow Dash half convulsing.  "Okay, my memory spell kinda...uh...half worked." Twilight said.  "You see, I was able to restore the memories she's had until she was transported to that other world, but failed to erase the memories she gained when that man took care of her."  Rainbow was panting loudly, trying to understand what was wrong with her memory.

"Daddy, why-y-y!" she cried, tears soaking her cyan fur. Even Pinkie Pie was sad, AND IT TAKES ALOT TO MAKE HER CRY!

"There, there, sugarcube.  We all feel sad and sorry for ya." said Applejack, throwing an arm around Rainbow's shoulder.

"Forget it, AJ.  I guess I'll never be happy ever again." Rainbow responded, brushing Applejack's arm off her shoulder.  Rainbow then went to the throne room of Twilight's castle.  She went over to hers and sighed.  She looked up at the engraved picture of her cutie mark on the head of the throne.  She sat down, and looked onward into space.  She observed the five other thrones around her.  She looked to the center of the room, and there was nothing.  She then dozed off, and awoke in a dream...or nightmare really.  She saw absolutely nothing.  She couldn't see her hood in front of her face.  Just black.  Then an erie voice began talking from nowhere.

"You never belonged with him.  He was just using you, with all that fake sympathy." it said.

"No, shut up!" Rainbow yelled.  "He truly loved me!  He would've given his life to save me from danger!"  This angered the voice, and Rainbow could tell, it was much louder, and had a much more aggressive tone the next time it spoke.

"He was planning to dump you all along!  When he first found you, he wanted you to go home, but no, you stayed until your regal, arrogant, princess took you away!"  It was hard to tell who's side the voice was on, as it made it sound like both being found, and returning home were bad for Rainbow.  Then in the distance, Rainbow saw a spotlight shining on the ground, though there was no ground to shine on.  In the light, Rainbow saw herself, crying.  Then, from the shadows emerged her father, moving in slow motion.  Rainbow tried to yell "daddy", but when she did, nothing came out.  Her father reached toward the crying pony under the lights, trying to pet her.  Rainbow was frozen.  She couldn't move to see her daddy.  She simply watched as he touched the other Rainbow.  The instant he made contact, the light turned off.  The voice from before gave a sinister laugh, slowly fading into silence.

"Wake up Dashie!" cried Pinkie Pie, furiously shaking Rainbow.  Rainbow awoke and panicked.  She instantly turned around and bucked Pinkie in the face, sending her flying across the throne room.  Dash turned and realized what she did.

"Oh Pinkie Pie!  I'm so sorry!" she cried, flying over to the dazed pony.  There must've been some extreme force from that buck, because Pinkie was bleeding from both her mouth and nose.  "Pinkie!  Speak to me!" Rainbow cried.  Pinkie opened her eyes.

"Bloh, bley blere, Blashie." Pinkie said, blood bubbling in her mouth.  Her mouth was full of blood, preventing her from talking clearly.  "Blo, blabt blabbenb?  Blou blere bleebing blon blour blrone, blanb blou blere blying."  It was impossible to understand a word Pinkie said.  Every time she talked, the pool of blood in her mouth would gurgle.  Rainbow picked the pink party pony up, and ran to get medical attention.  The blood poured out of Pinkie's mouth, leaving a trail behind Rainbow.

"Oh Pinkie, I'm so sorry.  It was just a reflex." Rainbow said.  Pinkie coughed as she let her gums bleed on to the floor.  The problem now was her nose made her sound funny.

"Id's okay Dashie.  You didn't mee to do it.  We're sdill freds." Pinkie said.  Dash was really hyper, and having a hard time controlling herself.  She kept wondering about the strange dream she had, asking herself millions of questions.  It was all to much for Rainbow to take.  She finally arrived with the other ponies, and explained the dream, kicking Pinkie and all.  Twilight was biting her hoofs nervously.  Then the princess just burst out.

"I'm so sorry Rainbow!  I just don't know what went wrong!  I want you to go 'home' so badly, but that's impossible!  Oh Celestia why???" she yelled.  Twilight slumped down to catch her breath, the others looking at her after her outburst.

"Well...  Twilight, I understand.  I'll never see him.  You just played this prank just to make me feel bad.  You don't have to lie anymore." Rainbow said, tearing up.  She walked out of the study in tears, leaving a trail of salty tears behind her.

"Oh, goodness.  What have we done?" asked Rarity, starting to cry.  Fluttershy was already crying, soon Applejack was crying, then Twilight, even Pinkie, who still was banged up from Rainbow's buck, cried profusely, sobbing through her swollen lip.  The five friends watched in tears as their heartbroken friend walked away, soaking the floor with tears.  That night, Twilight sat at the castle observatory, glancing up at the moon.  She was shedding light tears, with wet tear marks streaking down her face.  She looked up into Luna's night, except tonight, every star was a teardrop, every planet, a lost soul, and the moon itself, was the man from earth, and the ground on which the pony folk walk, was Rainbow Dash.  So close, yet so far.

"I don't know why this has to be.  Why is life so cruel?!" Twilight screamed.  She soon fell asleep under the stars, traumatized by the sad truth: She can never go "home."

Celestia's Diary

---Chapter Three: Celestia's Diary----

Dear book,

I'm still feeling guilty about bringing Rainbow Dash home.  I know it had to be done, but a part of me is saying it was a cruel, senseless act of separating a unbreakable love...forever.  I seem to be at war with myself over keeping her here, or sending her back.  She has retrieved the memories from before the teleportation incident, but her memories from the other world are still present.  I'm not sure how that works, but it only spells danger for the sake of the two worlds.  The word of the events are practically all over the land now, and almost nopony notices me when I visit the many cities.  It's almost as if everypony's forgotten me, and the sorrow is reflecting across Equestria.  I haven't heard from Twilight Sparkle or any of her friends in a great amount of time. It's almost as if I don't even exist anymore.  To make matters worse, I visited the Wonderbolts Derby yesterday, and everpony began throwing fruit at me.  I didn't even try to stop them, I deserved it.  They were all chanting, "Reunite!  Reunite!"  I don't think even Luna is paying attention to me, and she's my own sister!  All tartarus is breaking loose.

Yours truly,

Princess Celestia.

Dear book,

It's too much.  Last night was the Grand Galloping Gala, but would you believe that nopony came.  Not even locals from Canterlot city came.  It was just me, the guardsponies, and Luna.  I walked around the empty halls, looking up to the ceiling, watching as visions of ponies from past Galas, talking and enjoying themselves.  Then I saw it, Rarity, one of Twilight's friends, snapped at my nephew, Prince Blueblood.  Then everything went downhill, as everypony went crazy, and fled.  It was Twilight's first Gala ever, and it seemed like it had happened just yesterday.  It felt like just yesterday, Twilight gained her wings and royalty, it seemed like yesterday that the six friends defeated Lord Tirek and gained the castle now that rests on the outskirts of Ponyville.  I think I've set an extremely bad example for my subjects, of being a monster.  No matter how many times I try and convince the ponies that it was what I had to do, they thrust me into shame.  Protesters keep arriving at the castle gates and ranting for Rainbow Dash to reunite with her father.  I am unsure if I can keep my land in peace if this keeps up.  If only they could understand.

Yours truly,

Princess Celestia.

The Sister's Talk

----Chapter Four: The Sister's Talk----

Celestia looked up from her book, a quill held with her magic.  She sighed, and placed the quill back in the ink pot.  She reread everything she had written, and reread it again, and again.  Something had to be done.  Then the door opened, and in stepped Luna.

"I have had enough of thou being so arrogant!  Hiding thyself away and not fixing this abomination of a problem thou hast created!" said the Princess of the Night.

"Luna!  It's not that at-"  Celestia was cut off by Luna lunging at her and tackling her older sister, pinning her to the ground.  The two wrestled, but for some reason, Luna was holding back.

"SISTER!  STOP THIS STRUGGLE THIS INSTANT!" Celestia screamed.  Luna obeyed, surprised at her sister's sudden outburst.

"I am feeling miserable for separating Rainbow Dash from the human, but I had to do it.  But now I am rethinking." Celestia said, trying to stop Luna from murdering her.  She walked to the balcony, looking into her sister's night.  Celestia never noticed how beautiful the night really was.  Even when Luna was on the moon, Celestia simply raised the moon, then slept until it was time to raise the sun.

"So, what is your plan of action, sister?" asked Luna.

"I honestly do not know Luna.  I am not in the mood to think about such things right now." Celestia replied.

"You know Luna, I never truly understood how powerful love could be.  And it just makes me regret having to send you to the moon for one thousand years." the sun goddess said, royal tears forming min her eyes.

Luna walked over to her crying sister, and threw a loving wing around her.  The two looked onward into the night.  It was almost time to raise the sun, but Celestia opened her eyes too see, nothing...

  "Luna?" she cried.

Celestia could only see her body below her.  Everything else was just a void.  She then heard a sinister laugh.  It sounded oddly familiar to the princess.

"Ah, Clestia!  It's been so long..." it said.

  "K-King Sombra?!" Celestia cried!

"Oh, so you actually remember me.  Shocker.  It's been over five thousand years since you and your pathetic royal army destroyed my empire." Sombra's voices said.

"We SAVED your empire!  You were the one destroying it, you twisted monster!" Celestia snapped.

"Uhh, whatever!" Sombra scoffed.  "What matters is the current state of the little pegasus with a rainbow mane."

Celestia instantly put the puzzle pieces together!  "No!  You will not succeed!" she yelled.

"Oh you good guys never learn!  I already have succeeded." Sombra retorted.

Suddenly, Celestia was looking at the night sky on the balcony, Luna standing back in an aggressive pose.

"Sister?  What happened?  You just had a minor convulsion!" she stated.

"How long was I convulsing?" Celestia asked.

"Only a few seconds." Luna said.

"He has returned." Celestia said.

"Oh no..." Luna said.
