What's Left Of Timbre

“Aw, miss her already?” Adagio asked as Sunset lay with her head in her lap.

“Of course. It’s fun having her around,” Sunset giggled a little.

Adagio smiled and ran a hand along Sunset’s cheek. A very relieved looking Ascentia had come to pick Twilight up an hour ago, and it had taken twenty minutes for them to head out due to Ascentia wrapping Twilight into a hug and flat out refusing to let go. Even as they’d been heading out to the car, Adagio could hear Ascentia giving Twilight a ‘Don’t you ever scare me like that again!’ lecture.

“It is. We’ll have to go see her soon,” Adagio smiled, running her fingers through Sunset’s hair.

“That’d be fun, I’d especially like to see their kids,” Sunset smiled.

“Oh yes! Did you hear? Little Sunny’s starting school soon,” Adagio giggled.

“Awww, is she? That’s amazing!” Sunrise giggled, “I bet she’s going to look so adorable with her little outfit and her lunchbox!”

Adagio giggled, “Mmhmm. Twilight promised she’d take pictures for us.”

“Yay! Oh, that’d be wonderful,” Sunset smiled more.

Adagio nodded and looked out the window to the club below. Aria was working the bar while Sonata was getting very chatty with three large men at one of the tables. Adagio smiled and turned back to Sunset, “And see? The bar’s just fine without you.”

“Well gee, thanks,” Sunset said sarcastically, smirking playfully and laughing.

Adagio chuckled, but was cut off as a commotion was heard downstairs. Springing out of her seat, she tore down the stairs and out onto the club floor to see the three men Sonata was sitting with standing in a human shield in front of her while two other patrons helped a rather bulky woman to her feet, her nose pouring blood.

“Aria, what happened?” Adagio asked, looking around suspiciously.

“That lady over there came over and started groping Sonata,” Aria explained, “She didn’t care for it. Neither did her new friends.”

“I’m okay, Mommy!” Sonata called to her from behind the men, though she looked a bit nervous. “They managed to stop her before it got way too out of hand…”

Adagio came around and pulled Sonata into a hug, looking up at her new friends, “Thank you, gentlemen. Have some drinks on me,” she smiled, guiding Sonata over to the bar.

“No problem, Miss Dazzle!” Said one of the guys, smiling at her, “We just wanted to keep her safe.”

“Thanks, you guys!” Sonata called over to them as she sat down at the bar.

“Aw, the patrons love Sona,” Adagio cooed as she nuzzled Sonata’s cheek and straightened her clothes.

“Of course they do. She’s a sweet, cheerful greeter girl,” Aria chuckled.

Sonata blushed and giggled, “Hey, come on… I just do what I do…”

“And you’re very good at what you do,” Adagio smiled, pressing her finger to Sonata’s nose as she sauntered around the bar as the police came in to take away the woman who’d groped Sonata.

Sunset came into the club, going toward the bar, “Wow, it’s a good thing Mom caught on when she did, wasn’t it?”

“Oh yes, but I did have help from the guys,” Sonata smiled, “Still, it’s amazing to see Mommy just tear right into the place like a speedster when there’s trouble.”

“She’s like a hawk,” Aria remarked, “Always keeping one eye down here.”

“She sure is,” Sunset agreed, looking toward where Adagio was speaking to one of the police officers.

“She’s like a superhero,” Sonata giggled.

“Yeah, that Mom from The Incredibles,” Aria smirked, “The one with the wicked ass.”

“Oh yes, Helen, or Elastigirl!” Sunset grinned, “I do love her design.”

“Me too,” Sonata giggled, “Aside from Mommy, I’d sure love to have been one of her kids.”

“I swear, some people at Pixar are freaking pervs,” Aria snickered as she poured the two of them a drink.

Sunset took her drink, sipping it, “Oh, maybe some of them are just… flexible.”

Aria looked up with a frown, “Oh you are just the worst type of person.”

“Bite me,” Sunset stuck her tongue out.

“Sorry about that,” Adagio came back around the bar and sat down, “What are we talking about?”

“Who’s hotter, you or Elastigirl,” Aria remarked with a smirk.

“Oh Elastigirl, easily,” Adagio grinned, “Just imagine the naughty things you could do with that stretching of hers…”

“She is beautiful, but I’d want to be her little baby,” Sonata giggled, “No offense, Mommy! You’re still my first choice.”

Adagio smirked, “You bet your cute little ass I am,” she reached over and slapped Sonata’s rear.

“Eee!” Sonata giggled, and gave her a kiss on the cheek, “Of course!”

Adagio smiled and hoisted Sonata up onto the bar, pulling her shirt up and blowing hard into her stomach.

“Noooo!” Sonata squealed, laughing and clutching at her hair.

“No? Oh come on, it’s fun! The customers sure are finding it cute!” Aria laughed.

Adagio blew harder and ran her hands to Sonata’s back, holding her steady as she continued to tickle her stomach, the patron laughing and a few of them cheering.

“M-Mommy! Nooooo! It tickles! Nooooo!” Sonata laughed and squealed, squirming a little on the bar.

“Mommy’s got your belly!” Adagio grinned, blowing harder as Sunset came around the bar and started tickling Sonata’s neck.

“And I’ve got your neck!” Sunset grinned.

“Eeeee! Nooooooo!” Sonata giggled and squirmed, “You guys! Hee hee hee! Noooooo!”

Aria came around and started tickling her legs, smirking as the patrons started to laugh louder. Adagio blew harder and Sonata and Aria held her steady while they tickled her.

“Nooooooo!” Sonata clung to Adagio’s hair, squealing louder. She then snorted a couple times, squirming a bit against their hold.

Adagio peered up at her and giggled as she brought her hands down to Sonata’s rear and squeezed as she blew harder. Sonata laughed harder, now begging them to stop as it hurt her sides a bit. As she giggled, she then gasped as her muscles spasmed and then relaxed. Shuddering, she leaned against Adagio’s hair and panted amidst her giggles.

“M-Mommy… I just…”

“Aw, did Mommy’s special girl come?” Adagio purred as she pulled her mouth back from Sonata’s stomach and kissed her cheek.

“Yes, I did…” Sonata giggled.

“Aww! Yay! We did it!” Sunset laughed, kissing the back of her neck and rubbed her shoulders.

“Do you wanna go back upstairs, sweetie?” Adagio purred as she rubbed Sonata’s rear in small circles.

“A-Are you sure?” Sonata blinked.

Sunset kissed her cheek, patting her head, “Go ahead, you two. We’ll manage the bar.”

Adagio grinned and hoisted Sonata up onto her hip, carrying her toward the door as she waved goodbye to the patrons, who all cheered and catcalled as the door closed behind them.

Adagio rolled off Sonata and smirked as she hovered over her, “Mmm… it’s been a while since it was just us,” she purred.

“I know…” Sonata giggled, reaching up to touch her face, “I love our family so much. But every now and then I think back to when it was just us… when we first came to this place and all.”

Adagio kissed her cheek and settled down beside her, pulling her into a close cuddle, “Mmhmm. When the club was new, and you were just a little girl on the run.”

“And you were the beautiful angel who gave me a second chance at life,” Sonata cooed, kissing her cheek and snuggling close.

Adagio cooed and held tightly to her, “And you were the angel who gave me a chance at my dreams.”

“Aww… I love being your something-angel too, Mommy,” Sonata kissed her nose, grinning, “And I’m glad it got the Razzle Dazzle here! Yay…”

“Me too,” Adagio purred, squeezing tightly to her, “You know, we had a solid three years together before Aria and Sunny joined the party.”

“We did, didn’t we?” Sonata beamed, kissing her face, “Three wonderful years… Mmm… just the start of our dream life together! And then they just got better…”

Adagio smiled and returned the kisses, “Yes we did. Honestly, I wish the four of us could get married…”

“That’d be so awesome, Mommy…” Sonata beamed, “I’ve wanted to marry you for a long time… And for all of us to be married, that’d be beyond awesome.”

Adagio smiled sadly and cuddled her closer, “It’s just a shame it isn’t legal…”

“I know… I’m so sad,” Sonata pouted, nuzzling her neck, “I know we don’t need all that to prove our love, but… It’d be nice if we could make it official. I’ve always wanted a nice wedding…”

Adagio nodded and kissed Sonata’s hair, “Me too…”

“Mmm…” Sonata murmured, kissing her neck, “You’d be such a gorgeous bride, Mommy… I can just see you standing there, looking so radiant and happier than ever…”

Adagio smiled brightly and nuzzled Sonata’s cheek, “Oh I can already see you being walked down the aisle. Who’s giving you away, sweetie?”

“I… um…” Sonata blinked, “I… don’t know… I mean, maybe my actual Dad, if I feel up to it.”

Adagio nuzzled her cheek and held her closer to her chest, “Do you want your dad to give you away, sweetie?”

“I think so… I don’t really see why not,” Sonata murmured, nuzzling her neck, “For the longest time, I was determined to give myself away at my wedding if my Dad wasn’t there for me.”

“Well then, I guess it’ll be time to reach out to them soon,” Adagio purred, kissing Sonata’s cheek.

“I think you’re right,” Sonata gave a little nod, “All I’m really doing is punishing them for no reason anymore. I should… give them more of a chance.”

“There we go,” Adagio purred, “They didn’t mean to hurt you, sweetie. They love you. And as much as it may have hurt back then, you can at least take comfort in knowing that at least they weren’t Twilight Velvet.”

Sniffling, Sonata nodded, “Yeah, you’re right… I know they never meant to hurt me. I really should give them a chance. I’ll… I’ll call them tomorrow.”

“There we go,” Adagio smiled brightly, kissing Sonata’s cheek as she slipped out of bed and pulled a loose sweater over herself, rummaging through the end table drawer, “Mommy doesn’t want her special girl to isolate herself from her family. She-”

Adagio stopped as she pulled a small, ornate box out of the drawer, a box that had her insignia carved into the top, “...What’s this? I don’t remember buying this.”

“AH!” Sonata squealed, jumping up in bed, wide-eyed. She came off the bed, going toward her, “Nooooo! You’re not supposed to find that yet! It’s for…” She pouted a bit, “I knew I should’ve put it in a better spot… Oh, never mind. It’s… it’s for you. Aria and I had it made for you. We made it so you could put the rest of Timbre’s ashes in it… It has a special lock on it and it will never break.”

Adagio looked at her, quiet for a moment as her gaze turned back to the box, carved from Oak and elegantly decorated. She didn’t say anything. She was completely silent as she stared at the box. After a few moments, she pressed her fingers to her mouth as her eyes welled up in tears.

Slowly pulling on a sweater, Sonata looked at her for a moment, trying to gauge her reaction. It was hard to tell, but she slowly felt the dread and fear from before. Taking a deep breath, she took a single step forward, “...Mommy?”

Adagio wheeled around and threw her arms around Sonata’s shoulders, crying softly as she peppered Sonata’s face with kisses, “Oh Sona…”

Holding to her tightly, Sonata began to cry as well, managing a little smile, “You like it…?”

“Oh sweetie… I love it, thank you so much,” Adagio whimpered, squeezing tightly to her and burying her face into Sonata’s neck.

“You’re welcome, Mommy…” Sonata sniffled, nuzzling her hair, “I know it can’t erase what I did, but… I wanted to make it up to you somehow.”

Adagio laid the box down on the end-table and pulled Sonata into a passionate kiss, falling back onto the bed as Sonata landed on top of her. Running her fingers along her hair, Sonata kissed her back sweetly, making herself comfortable atop Adagio’s form. Amidst the passion, she felt her heart swell. It had been a tough decision to go through with it, no matter how sure she was about the idea. But Aria and Sunset continuously told her to go through with it. She noted to herself to give them big thank-yous later…

“Mommy…” She cooed between kisses, fisting her fingers into her hair.

“Mommy loves you so much,” Adagio murmured between kisses, squeezing tightly to her torso she whimpered softly.

“I love you too, Mommy…” Sonata whispered, bringing her hands down to her shoulders and squeezing gently.

Adagio pulled back from Sonata’s lips and looked up at her, her eyes shining with tears as she pulled Sonata into the tightest hug the poor girl had ever felt in her life. Despite the crushing feeling, Sonata didn’t struggle nor protest. She returned it fully, nuzzling Adagio’s soft hair.

After a few moments, Adagio pulled back and let go of her.

“Let’s… let’s go… put what’s left of Timbre in there, then…” she said hesitantly.

“Okay, Mommy… But um, I think you should go in there. I… I can’t,” Sonata shook her head, “But, I’ll bring the box for you.”

Adagio nodded and stood up, digging through the drawer for her keys. She pulled them out and found the key to her den and looked at it quietly. It had been over four months since she’d last been in there, and she was apprehensive about unlocking it. Taking a deep breath, she stood up and took Sonata’s hand, leading her out to the door.

“Alright…” she said, her hand quivering as she fit the key into the lock and opened the door.

Sonata placed a hand on her shoulder, clutching the box securely against herself, “You can do it, Mommy. Take your time…”

Adagio’s eyes were locked on the shelf, where the pieces of Timbre’s urn were sitting, the last of his ashes sitting in the bottom of the only intact piece. Looking at it brought back all the memories from only a few months ago. She felt heartbroken that it was destroyed, she felt furious with Sonata for breaking it, she felt scared to go near it. She pressed her fingers to her lips as she took a step forward into the den. She stopped when she felt Sonata’s hand slip off her shoulder, and turned around, looking at her.

Sonata remained in the doorway, holding the box and looking at her with a mix of emotions. She bit her lip, looked down at her feet, then back at her, “I’ll wait right here, Mommy.”

Adagio quietly shook her head and held her hand out to her.

Eyes going wide, Sonata took another step back. She was practically terrified of even stepping into the room. It practically haunted her. Breathing heavily, she looked in Adagio’s eyes, finding herself entranced. No. She couldn’t back out now. Not like this.

Taking a step forward, Sonata felt her resolve break away. Adagio needed her. Wanted her. It was all the reason she needed. Breathing softer, Sonata took a few more steps forward, then placed her hand into Adagio’s waiting one. The two of them approached the shelf, where Sonata placed the box and opened it. Apprehensively, Adagio lifted the shards and what was left of the ashes and placed them inside, where Sonata closed the box and latched the lock closed. There was no key, it couldn’t be opened.

Adagio leaned down and placed a soft kiss on the lid, “Mommy loves you, Timbre…”

Sniffling, Sonata gave a gentle pat to the lid, “Sona loves you too, Timbre… I’m so sorry…”

Adagio brought her arms around Sonata’s waist and hugged her, laying her head on her shoulder as she wiped her eyes. Giving her a sweet nuzzle, Sonata then very gently placed the box onto the shelf where the urn had once been. Lowering her hands, she hugged Adagio back tightly, sniffling.

“Sona,” Adagio whispered, nuzzling her cheek, “Please… don’t ever leave me.”

Holding her tighter, Sonata kissed her cheek and nuzzled her, “I’ll never leave you, Mommy. Never… Not unless you want me to. I… I’m here with you to the end.”

Adagio wrapped her arms around Sonata and hugged tighter. From the moment she met her, Sonata had stolen her heart and brought a newfound joy into her life. She’d been with her as she set up her business, and helped her through the toughest moments in those first few years…

“...And I couldn’t have asked for anything else,” Adagio smiled, her eyes bright as she held tightly to Sonata’s hands, looking from her to Aria and Sunset, “All of you. Mommy loves you all so much.”

There was a few minutes of quiet, before Twilight spoke up, barely able to contain her squeeing.

“By the powers vested in me, I now pronounce you wife, and wife… and wife and wife,” she grinned, “You may now kiss the… brides.”

All four brides looked at one another, barely containing their own squees. But where to start? They all glanced about, eyes falling on Adagio, then one another again, and back to her. It was then that Sonata made the first move, throwing her arms around Adagio’s shoulders and kissing her deeply. There was applause from the guests as Adagio lifted Sonata off the ground and twirled her as they kissed, Aria and Sunset hugging Adagio from either side and kissing her and Sonata’s cheeks. The two broke apart briefly so that Aria and Sunset could kiss them properly before diving back in. More cheers and applause erupted from the guests, while Twilight just about let go of her regal Princess persona and squealed like an excited child.

It was official. The quartet, affectionately nicknamed The Dazzlings, were now married. As expected, Sonata had more than happily taken Adagio’s name. Aria did as well, all in part of shedding her previous family ties. Sunset meanwhile hyphenated legally, but would go with either one outside of that.

Adagio did her best to hug all three of them at once as everyone applauded. The gathering was small, mostly their closest friends and family. There had been a brief moment during the vows when Mrs Blaze had burst in, objecting to the wedding. However, as she was storming toward them, Ascentia shot her in the leg and Princess Celestia hauled her out to a waiting ambulance by her hair. It turned out that she’d be going to prison for violating the restraining order. It took all of Aria’s self control not to make childish faces at her from the window during Adagio’s vows.

Sonata’s parents, who had long since gotten onto better terms with their daughter, were smiling. Her mother was wiping tears from her eyes. Happy tears, she had asserted when Ascentia eyed her and tapped her gun to her cheek, whereupon Princess Luna had confiscated her firearms for the remainder of the ceremony.

Sunset’s parents were surprised when they received their invitation, this being the first they’d heard about their daughter’s relationship. They’d happily agreed to attend the wedding, but they still looked somewhat confused, as if they were still absorbing this new information.

Seated in the front row were their friends. Ascentia, with Sunrise bouncing in her lap. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, their son Spectrum squirming impatiently and eyeing the banana that Princess Celestia was eating. Pinkie Pie and her husband, Discord, were both grinning up at them. Rarity and Applejack were grinning as well, Rarity’s pregnant belly making it difficult for her to stand with the crowd.

On the other side were the girls from Adagio’s club, who dropped everything to attend the wedding, as well as her lawyer Ink Rose and her husband, Doctor Firebrand. It seemed appropriate, as Adagio’s court case had been won only two days ago.

As the brides pulled away, facing the crowd, they gave waves to their guests before making their way down the aisle. Sonata, in her excitement, nearly tossed her bouquet. But Aria gently held her arm and shook her head, which stopped her.

“That’s for the reception, silly,” Aria chuckled.

“I know…” Sonata giggled, “That will be cool, there’s four bouquets and four garters! Who’d have thought?”

“Oh great, there’s gonna be an orgy at the reception with those kind of numbers,” Adagio chuckled as she hooked her arms around Sonata, Aria and Sunset.

“Oh, jeez…” Sunset chuckled, shaking her head, “As long as the cake doesn’t get ruined.”

“It’s a good thing we have two receptions,” Adagio smirked, “Can’t have little Sunrise and Spectrum seeing that sort of thing.”

“Nope! We must think of the children!” Sonata said dutifully, grinning, “Speaking of, they look so cute! I love Spectrum’s little suit and the rainbow tie! That’s adorable!”

“I had to stop myself from just going over there and picking up Sunny to hug her during the ceremony,” Sunset giggled.

Adagio nodded and squeezed them tighter, “Mmhmm. She’s such a cutie.”

As the four of them strolled out to the limo waiting outside, they piled in and gigged as it tore off toward the reception hall. The driver would have quite a story to tell as the four brides started hungrily making out in the back seat, the short drive likely being the only thing that kept them from tearing each other’s dresses off.
