When 'Gods' Fall

Ever wonder if anything lives within the stars in the sky? There is life among the stars, countless lives each with something amazing and unique to them and them alone. Some of these beings that live within the stars have learned ways of visiting the others that surround them, and even explore the universe they live in.

One of these life forms became so obsessed with understanding the knowledge of the universe and the life forms within it they devoted their entire existence to learning how the universe works and why life forms all come out so differently. In their grand quest for the knowledge of the universe the learned how to extend their own life spans by thousands of years, medicines that cure illness at the smallest unit of life and space travel that takes hours to reach a destination that would take years to travel to. However knowledge isn't without a price, for the greatest and most detailed information the universe had written was the art of war.

The art of war was the universes darkest and most well known piece of information, every planet these beings visited knew of war and had mastered a certain skill of warfare. With some of wars darkest secrets at hand these beings went mad with their new found powers war had given them. Within a little under a million years every planet theses beings once studied became heaps of rock and dust floating aimlessly in the cold vacuum of space.

They did this to keep new knowledge from being developed or discovered by any other species, they felt they were the only ones fit to learn all of the universes secrets. From that point on the one peaceful knowledge race of scholars became war hungry knowledge devourers. They even grew the audacity to call themselves Gods as they delved deeper into war-fed madness.

Every planet that the 'Gods' have come across since then they've studied it and once the entire planet and how it worked, its history, and possible futures were recorded they sent armies down to kill off the inhabitants, burn the forests, drain the planets water and finally destroy the planet. Some planets they gave mercy only to enslave the population to work as farmers or build new space ships, weapons, and other unsafe machinery. In the search for knowledge one must be careful because if one discovers secrets best left forgotten even the most harmless of flowers can become poison.

In their endless search and destroy of knowledge the 'Gods' discovered and unrecognizable energy coming from a single planet in the younger regions of space. Upon arrival they were, for once, speechless. The planet sat between its sun and moon, and every twelve hours exactly the sun and moon would become bathed in a blue or golden aura of energy and move around the planet. Nothing in their research of other planets had anything on any forces other than gravity that could do what they witnessed. For once in over countless years the 'Gods' were scared. This energy had no source, no density, no single molecule to say it exists, it should not exist and yet it does.

Rather than studying in their typical manner, observe from above, of flat out destroying the planet they would do it the hard way. Send four of their own, armed of course, down to the planet and see if this energy can understood or harnessed. Four of their own have been chosen and soon they are to leave the safety of their mothership and descend into a planet with an energy of unknown potential. They aren't going in blind though, from their observations above the planet they discovered the dominate species, ponies they call themselves; the language they speak, and even the name of the planet, Equestria. The ponies even have a name for the energy, Magic. Now the time is drawing near for the 'Gods' departure and our stories official start.

“Damn vision alternator.” A grey earth stallion mutters, green mane and tail with a metallic oak leaf cutie mark. He is attempting to loosen an acrylic necklace with a blue light emanating from a thin line in the center. “Cheap peace of junk.”

“I'd Like to see you do better Mecca.” A larger earth stallion says while entering the room, same grey coat but with a black mane and tail bearing the same kind of acrylic necklace. His cutie mark, three rows of ones and zeros.

“I would if you let me have a look at your schematics, Replica.”

“Not likely, I keep all my schematics memorized.”

“Show off.” Mecca spits, eventually giving up on his attempts to adjust the necklace.

A  jet black earth mare enters the room, purple mane and tail and yes the wearing the same necklace. Her cutie mark, a double helix. “Just stop it you two, honestly you’re the only two Gods that can’t get along even with a common goal.”

“You’re one to talk Genetic. Wasn’t it your idea to go about the mission in different ways?” Replica said.

“At least I put thought into my idea, you just wanted to blow up the planet with an over sized ion cannon.” Replica’s expression stiffened. “This way we can still study the inhabitants, possibly even make sense of that energy of theirs.”

“They call it magic.” A midnight blue earth stallion replies from the doorway. a lavender mane and tail with a large demonic red eye cutie mark. “At least that’s what the inhabitants call it.” He finishes, taking seat with the others.

“*psst* Magic,” Genetic spoke. “Sounds like it came from a fairy tale.”

“That’s what they seem to call it, and you’re all welcome by the way.” The midnight blue stallion deadpanned.

“For what exactly?” Mecca questioned.

“For gathering the language data for Replica’s vision alternators. Without that we won’t be able to learn more about them during our stay.”

“Yes thank you for that Flux.” Replica replied.

“Accepted, now then besides names do any of us know what we each are bringing to the mission?”

“Right, we were only given names and images of ourselves with the vision alternators disguising our natural appearance.” Mecca said. “Well then I’ll go first; Mecca, bio-mechanical engineer.” The grey stallion said.

“Replica, robotics designer and AI programmer.” The larger grey stallion spoke.

“Genetic, DNA specialist and genome designer.” The jet black mare replied.

“Flux; sub-species engineer.” The midnight blue stallion said, finishing the groups introductions.

“Well then now that that’s out of the way how long until our ships are ready to launch?” Mecca asked.

“Should be any minute now.” Genetic replied.

“Good, I’m setting my destination for a small mountain in that forest the inhabitants seem to steer clear of. The Ev… Eva…? Everfree, yes that’s it, they call it the Everfree forest.”

“Isolation, good call,” Replica spoke “I myself am headed to an area not inhabited my ponies, rather a large flat land area on the other end of the planet, its inhabitants are even more primal and therefore less of a threat.”

“Is that the only reason that is taking you there?” Genetic questioned.

“Scans show the ground underneath is rich with ores; I’ll need them to build my machines.”

“Well wile you’re playing in dirt I’ll be taking base at the top of a mountain that seems to have a city of sorts build onto its side.” Genetic spoke, a hint of glee in her voice.

“Won’t you be exposed?” Flux questioned.

“Yes and no. Regrettably I will have to mine out most of the inner mountain but I believe my ship should be undisturbed atop the peek. Not even the flying ones of the can go up that high.”

“I’ll be setting up base more towards an area the locals seem to call the badlands, past the edge of the pony nations boarders. Or rather right on the boarder.” Flux stated.

“How do you know so much about them? Scans haven’t been able to gather that much data.” Mecca questioned.

“Like I said I’m a sub-species engineer. I created a parasite of sorts and sent it down to the planet.”

“Do the higher ups know about that?”

“If they did I’d still be going through regulations just to develop the parasite.”

Mecca gave a small smile. “Well that makes two Gods who don’t give a damn about the uppers regulations; I can’t stand all that nonsense they put you through.”

“Actually make that three Gods, I’ve broken more regulations then I care to count.” Genetic spoke, rubbing the back of her head.

“Four Gods, my AI programs are untested and the uppers keep trying to get them shut down but they work better than standard programs.” Replica admitted.

“All of us? Why would the uppers send four Gods that they know don’t care about their regulations?” Flux began thinking of possible solutions.

“I can think of two good reasons.” Genetic replied. “One is that they just want to get rid of free thinkers. And two is that since we don’t give a damn about their rules and protocols they think we’ll get the job done faster.”

“Personally I think it’s the first option.” Replica said.

“Yeah I was leaning towards that myself.” Mecca said.

Just then an orange drone enters the room, floating just two feet off the ground bearing an energy cannon that takes up most of its lower body and a head with three senors that act as eyes. The drone carried a small metal box strapped to its back and floats up to Mecca.

“Finally!” Mecca yelled. Upon taking the box and the drone leaves.

“What’s that?” Flux questioned.

“Something that cost me more grief than I care to recall, a single Ile ore.”

Everyone in the room gave a gasp. Replica specifically looked a tad faint.

“How did you get that?! There’s only three that currently exist!” Genetic yelled. "And they're near impossible to make!"

“Like I said ‘more grief than I care to recall’ and that was without the uppers knowing.” Mecca rubs his temples in painful memory of all the dirty sneaking he had to accomplish to get his tentacles on Ile ore.

“What are you even going to do with a metal that strong? I’m the robotics God!” Replica shouted in a fit of jealousy.

“In case you forgot I’m a bio-mechanical engineer. I understand robotics as well, and this will help me create the perfect weapon.”

“Like what?” Flux asked.

“If all goes well and the right test subject comes into my lab I will create the first true immortal in existence.”

There was a long pause among the Gods. After what seemed like an eternity a loud ringing came from a small halo speaker within one of the walls.

“Show time!” Mecca shouted as he ran out the room, Ile ore secured in its box and strapped to his back.

The other Gods followed until they all found themselves within a large hanger. Ships of the same size and model docked and ready for flight. Each carrying different components for the departing Gods to use, each ship holding materials needed by the Gods to achieve the goal.

Each God boarded their ship, seated in the pilot’s seat and ready to fly off. A large pair of metallic doors opens in front of the ships reviling the planet below, Equestria. Each ships engines roar with a low howl as the four Gods fly off to Equestria to accomplish their mission, learn as much as you are able then destroy the planet.
