Depression sweeps over Sunset as she realizes her fate was inevitable. With nothing to stop the tears, she cries. The only way she could feel better about the whole thing was if things were set right with Celestia. But what if it goes terribly wrong?

On a cold autumn night, Sunset Shimmer finds the portal to be open and steps back into Equestria. Hoping to make things right again, she is determined to make Celestia accept her as a new person, not as the mare that threatened the crown of her former student. But it goes terribly wrong and Sunset Shimmer suffers under a fate she didn't deserve and vows to seek vengeance against Celestia. Twilight, determined to bring goodness to her heart again, goes behind Celestia's back to save Sunset from her disastrous fate's hard grip on her. But the girl soon realizes the ruler of Equestria had made some very suspicious decisions in the past and begins to question her actions.

The skies knew

Her fiery red and yellow hair flowed in the wind as she leaned against the railing on the outside stair leading up to Canterlot High. It was afterschool and the sun was hanging low in the sky.

Autumn.

Leaves blew around her feet in blurs of reds, yellows, and oranges. The pink and orange sky set a calming mood and the nice breeze brushed against her face.

Everything seemed perfect. There was nothing wrong...right?

Without warning the girl slumped down and slid off the rail, dropping down on the concrete steps. The girl covered her face as her shoulders shook in an uncontrollable manner.

Sunset Shimmer was crying.

The quiet sobs that escaped her lips were cries of pure depression. The shining, cold tears slowly made their way down her chin and fell to the ground. They were diamonds falling from a well of sorrow. Sunset sniffed and ran a hand across her eyes, trying to stop the tears.

Why?

Why couldn't they see?

The tears fell anyway. They were determined to escape the pits of sorrow they surfaced from. Her hands trembled as she grabbed the rail. Slowly she got to her feet. But her legs gave out from under her and she roughly landed back on the step. It was just how she was now. Falling from the position of queen to the lowest of the low.

So low, that she couldn't climb out and redeem herself. She fell through all levels of hell and was trapped for all eternity to burn for her sins.

But why?

She changed.

Why couldn't they see?

Looking up to the sky, with desperation in her eyes, she saw the fading colors of an early sunset.

Sunset.

The slowly dying colors of magnificent beauty hung in the sky until no more of its glory could be seen. It shone brightly, showing off its brilliance as those below stared in admiration of its radiance until it was time for the glow to wear away. And those that watched in awe would wait the next day to see it again.

That was exactly what Sunset Shimmer was like to everyone around her until she showed her ugly side and ruled with an iron fist. But all things beautiful came to an end and so did the autumn sunset. The girl watched it disappear into the clutches of night. Seeing the dark sky she thought of princess Luna and her fall from greatness. From what she heard, Luna was becoming well-liked. If only she could be liked again that easily...

The tears on that stained her cheeks were still damp as she sat under the now dark sky. The breeze died down and nothing stirred. It was as quiet as ever.

Up in the sky she saw stars appear in the sea of blue. But one star caught her eye specifically. It was high up in the sky far from the moon twinkling...sparkling.

Anger entered her heart once more as her mind immediately clicked. That sparkling star was like Twilight. In times of emptiness, in times of despair, when upon the darkest hour, she was there and wiped it all away.

It was a sign. A sign she had not seen before.

The setting sun with its glorious colors of warm reds, pinks, yellow, and oranges was her. In the days she was innocent and pure and popular among the rest, she was the beautiful setting sun. But as she turned evil, everything became wretched around her. The disappearing sunset in the sky turning to night symbolized that phase. But when midnight came around, the superstitious time of all evil, Twilight appeared as the shining star that rose above her that very moment. Twilight meant midnight and when that time came she sparkled.

Twilight Sparkle.

Sunset's luck was to run out and in the midst of it, that purple princess would come. She felt a lump in her throat. Her fate was told among the sky, their names tied into the space above her. Without realizing it, the sky spelled out her doom every evening and night.

The skies knew.

They knew.

Silently she prayed. She prayed to no one, but everyone. Somebody, but nobody. Just praying for mercy.

Why?

Why couldn't they see?

She was a diamond in the rough, just struggling to remove the hard stone cast around her so that she could be heard, liked, and loved. She wanted others to see she changed for the better. She wanted to be appreciated again, but everyone refused to see she was good.

That's what they couldn't see.

***

Slowly she wandered away from the stair, just hoping her life could just end at that moment. Nothing was worth living for anymore. Her prayer would never be answered any way.

Thinking about the good days of when she was in Equestria as the star pupil of Celestia only made her feel worse. Back then, she had a purpose. There was something worth living for then. But not now.

Sunset Shimmer walked away from the school toward the street. Then an idea hit her.

What if there was a way to make things better?

What if she could get past all her mistakes and be seen as a good person?

The girl passed by the great stallion statue in front of CHS and felt an urge to go to it.

The only thing that would make her feel better was if she went and apologized to Celestia. She felt that if she could make things right between them, everything else would get better.

But how could she get to Equestria?

Surely there was no way. The portal would be closed.

She stood staring at the statue desperately.

She had to know. She had to try.

If she could make things alright between them all would be well.

At least she hoped.

***

Meanwhile in Equestria, Celestia felt strange. Something out of the ordinary was going to happen. She just knew it. Celestia was sensing something she could not understand...

" I better keep an eye out..."

Author's Notes:

This is the first chapter of what I hope to be a likeable story. If you like Sunlight shipping fics, than this is the one for you. Hope you enjoy this!

A way to Equestria

Sunset Shimmer walked solemnly to the statue in the dark. The night surrounded her like a cool blanket. She scanned the statue she had seen for the past few years she had been in this world.

The strong, cold stallion stood up on its powerful hind legs and raised its front hooves in a striking pose, showing off its muscular structure. Even this inanimate object had more pride than her. Sunset Shimmer looked at the cold side of the statue. This is where Twilight came through. As soon as the portal was open, as soon as she stepped onto this earth, Sunset Shimmer's life was shattered.

And she had herself to blame. It was her own greed that brought her doom. If she hadn't messed with the princess of Friendship, her life wouldn't be jacked. She had to give Twilight credit though. She sure knows how to put her enemies in their place.

Looking at where the portal was she couldn't help but wonder how Equestria was. Her days as Celestia's student seemed long ago and she missed them, despite her rebellious acts against the princess. She actually longed to make things right between them, she and Celestia. If she were to be seen as good in the eyes of her majesty, it was certain some, if not all her depression would leave and give her room to breath.

Slowly with a quivering hand, she reached out to where she knew the portal had lain. Surely the portal would be closed, but it didn't hurt to see...

She closed her eyes and extended her hand to touch the cold stone. But instead of a solid object touching her fingertips, her hand seemed to go through.

Sunset Shimmer's eyes opened immediately and she stared at her hand now going through the statue's base. A tingling sensation ran through her arm as she gasped.

How could the portal be open?

It would never be open unless Twilight was coming through...

She froze and her body tensed. There's no way...

After a while she realized that the portal couldn't be open for someone to pass through. That person would've been come through and/or discovered the hand poking out the other side. But there was a question that lingered in the air unspoken.

Could she go through?

Even if she could and returned to Equestria, she may be seen. But wouldn't she be seen regardless if she even wanted to redeem herself to Celestia? Holding her breath she looked back to the portal, wavering oddly while her hand remained inside it. It wouldn't hurt to go and try...

With nothing to lose, she stepped through.

The room she entered on the other side was...a library. It was vast and full of books that were on the shelves reaching up to the ceiling. Stacks of old maps lay strewn on the ground by the mirror. It was very dark and the only source of light was from torches on the walls. Apparently, it was night in Equestria as well.

She looked down at her feet. The light orange hooves she saw made her smile. She was a mare again. Sunset turned to examine herself in the mirror. The same red and yellow streaked mane she remembered reflected with a horn coming from the part in her hair. The same green eyes looked back at her on the gentle features of a mare, her muzzle small and round. On her flank was the sun with her iconic red and yellow colors. The mark gave her a sense of purpose.

It was her cutie mark. The bold icon symbolized her passion in life, her goal. And that was to one day be along side Celestia as she ruled. The sun itself represented the princess and the colors showed the closeness of her and the ruler...

But as of the moment the mark was depicting what was not true...

She was to be princess and help Celestia with her duties. If she hadn't been so hasty with trying to get there, none of this would've happened. And Twilight wouldn't have replaced her.

She glanced back at the huge shelves and began to move forward. The castle she was in was different from what she remembered. The last time she was there, this room was a chamber full of ancient artifacts and it was a lot smaller. Much smaller.

Things change all the time she thought.

Getting glimpses of the books and scrolls she had flashbacks of her past. She, like the girl after her, had a love for books. She'd read them all the way through, collecting and storing its contents in her mind. She loved reading about Equestrian History, Starswirl the Bearded, and the odd creatures in other worlds.

Sunset Shimmer found the exit from the library and stepped into a long hall.

The corridor was empty. No pony roamed the halls at this dark hour. Again, torches were set up to illuminate the place. She nervously walked down the corridor.

"Which way to the throne room..?"

She looked down both ends of the hall and randomly chose to walk down one way. In this foreign place she had no sense of direction.

Sunset got the feeling that this was a completely different castle. Something about the place was off. The mirror couldn't have been moved to a different castle, could it?

No. Just a different wingshe decided.

There was only this castle in Canterlot and who would bother to move a heavy mirror to the Crystal Empire?

From the corner of her eye, she saw something glint. Turning she saw it was a stain glass window. In the depiction was Twilight. Her five other friends were in the background wearing their elemental necklaces while a crown sat upon the princess' head. It was a very beautiful mural, with Twilight looking graceful yet powerful in the center. It suited her nicely.

The long, dark purple mane with a pink streak was cut in a Chinese bang above Twilight's violet eyes. The lavender coat appeared very relaxing to Sunset and reminded her of the flower with its soothing scent. Her strong pose really made the mare feel the importance of the princess in the stain glass window. Finally, the pink six point star on her flank was deliberately displayed for all to see.

The mare standing before it thought back to the setting sun and the bright star she had cried under earlier. The skies knew. It was strange though...It seemed she and the other princesses (excluding Cadence) had names to do with the sky. Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Twilight, her...Everything was astronomical in a way.

Studying the mural even more, she made a sudden discovery.

Twilight, with her coat the cool shades of the night, was the exact opposite of her fiery colors of the sun. A sickening feeling set in her heart.

Celestia deliberately chose Twilight because she was the opposite of her.

Tears she thought had been all poured out sprung up in the corners of her eyes.

Princess Celestia really did hate her.

"Hey! Stop in the name of Celestia!" a gruff voice yelled.

A stallion wearing the royal armor plates stood firmly at the end of the hall. A guard! Before she could register what was going on, her feet shot down the other way. How could she not have been careful? She was a fugitive in this land. If she got caught it would be curtains for her.

No doubt would Celestia do something drastic. No doubt. Thinking that she could just talk it out with her was stupid. The realization of her and Twilight being completely different was all the proof she needed. Celestia hated her and all she had to worry about now was getting the hell out of there.

Author's Notes:

Wow! It's only the first day it's up and already about 50 people read the first chapter! Thank you all! Cover art will be coming up for this story in a little while. The cover's being done by yours truly and so it will take a while. Until it comes up, please enjoy this story and feel free to read my other stories as well.

When Celestia's involved, stuff goes down

Author's Notes:

FACT: I'm really bad at writing one shots. When I write a story, I just can't seem to leave it alone. I just have to write 'til my heart's content. Fortunately, it leads up to good stories, I guess.

About the title of this chapter...I wasn't feeling creative and I just slapped that on there so forgive me.

Sunset Shimmer galloped at full speed down the corridor. Celestia heard of her role in the defeat of the Sirens, right? Surely Twilight would've said something about it. Even though it didn't get her any brownie points whatsoever with anyone at CHS, hopefully it would soften Celestia's hard feelings. But she knew it would not be enough to stop the princess from giving her a harsh punishment.

With this new knowledge, she galloped faster.

"Freeze! In Celestia's name!" the same colt yelled.

She heard him pounding down after her. In a panic she turned a sharp right down a similar hall.

"Intruder! Intruder!" the guard yelled loudly. " Catch her!"

In a split second Sunset Shimmer heard what sounded like an army of stallions charging after her. She took so many twists and turns, up and down stairwells, even performing improvised parkour over garden walls and castle roofs that she had no idea where she was. Sunset finally was cornered presumably on the fifth floor..?

She didn't know.

She had run everywhere.

All the guards surrounded her with deep scowls.

"She's over here, captain!" one of them called.

"Come on, Twili!" a familiar voice echoed further down the hall.

Twili? That only means one thing...

Immediately, she used her magic to transport herself out of there and left them all in the dust.

***

Twilight and her brother stared at the guards in disbelief.

"You LOST her?!" the princess exclaimed.

The colts glanced down at their hooves nervously.

"Who was she? What did she look like?? Where did she come from?! Where did you see her first?!?!" Twilight asked in a frenzy. The last time she had been riled up like this was when Sunset Shimmer stole her crown.*cough, cough*

Shining Armor had to calm her down. "I'll talk."

He turned his head toward his guards. "Who was the first to spot this mare?"

A brown stallion stepped forward. "Sir, she was spotted in the Western Wing on the third floor in corridor 34A, sir!"

Twilight frowned at this. "Come again?"

The captain nodded. "I see...Tell me, what did she look like?"

"Uh, she was like a flame when she ran. I didn't get a clear view of her. She shot away so fast like a rocket! She was a blur of colors as bright as the sun!" he replied.

Twilight tugged on her brother's armor. "Hey. Where is this corridor he's talking about? If you all haven't realized, I don't know the layout of the castle like that."

Shining Armor ignored her and continued to nod thoughtfully.

"She looked very familiar," an older guard said. "I think I may have seen her here before..."

In aggravation, Twilight stomped her hooves. She did not like to be clueless on what was going on around her. She was barely listening after the guard told them where this intruder was spotted. She was still trying to figure out where that was in the castle.

"Where did you last see her?"

Shining Armor was about to answer when from a distance they heard something.

Hooves on the polished floor came toward them. It was Cadence.

"You got out of bed so fast I was startled. Is everything alright?"

"No. But I have everything under control," her husband replied.

"Captain! Captain, quick!" A guard came storming down the hall. "The intruder! She's been spotted by the artifact chamber!"

Instantly, everypony except Twilight ran toward the said destination.

"Just where was she seen in the first place?!" Twilight yelled after them.

"The library!" Shining Armor called.

Twilight gasped as her body shook in horror. "No! Not the library! Not the books!!"

In an instant, she jetted after them like a track star running in the Olympics.

***

Sunset Shimmer panted as her pursuers followed her down the forever-lasting corridor. She sent a smoke bomb their way and scanned the area for a place to hide. She didn't like playing evil tricks, but whatever could help her evade pursuit was what she'd do.

Ducking into an open doorway she vanished from sight. In the complete darkness of the room she used her magic to quickly but silently shut the door. Muffled yells of astonishment sounded through it as she took a deep breath. It felt like an eternity waiting and hoping the guards would leave. When she was absolutely sure they were gone, she lit up the room with her horn.

The whole room was like a museum. There were strange scrolls with ancient writing on them, old rusty swords, faded paintings, odd jewelry, and other things. Masks hung from the wall that were cracked and old. Everything in there seemed to be falling apart.

"The artifact chamber..." Sunset mumbled.

Instantly, she knew exactly where she was in the castle. So the mirror had been moved to a different wing. Sunset Shimmer walked around the weird things, forgetting her earlier panic. There were new artifacts in there, some she didn't recognize.

But there were two that weren't at all old, but recent. Inside one glass case was the shards of the Sirens' necklaces. They were shattered reminders of a failed plan. In another case was a vial filled with a dark green substance. It was pretty vague in appearance as to what it was until she read the label.

Dark Magic Obtained From The Element Of Magic

Before Sunset Shimmer could make the connection a sudden draft of cold air swooshed past her and a grim voice spoke her name.

"Sunset Shimmer."

The mare whipped around to see a tall white alicorn with a blue, green, and pink streaked mane standing before her. She gasped and stared up at her in fear.

"Princess Celestia..."

A Fate Irreversible

Her majesty did not at all look pleased to see Sunset Shimmer. Her dark glare was proof enough of this.

"I knew there was something strange going to happen. I had no idea that it would be you."

Sunset Shimmer gulped. Her plan of self redeem wasn't even in effect, yet things were going down the wrong way.

"So you're back to steal the dark magic you possessed with the crown," the princess stated darkly.

Sunset Shimmer's eyes widened. "N-No! I didn't even know that's what that was!"

Celestia glared at her. "You knew well that's what that was. You almost ruined the crown with your magic! With all the darkness coming from you when you stole the crown it nearly turned the element into a destructive weapon!"

Sunset stared at the alicorn with her mouth hanging wide open. She had not known that. Twilight never said a word about that. She just thought the crown was just a tool, like a pencil. A pencil is a writer's tool. It isn't the pencil that creates beautiful works of literature, it's the writer. The tool is just what is used in order for it to be written.

But this crown was a lot more advanced than any tool she's seen.

"There was a reason I gave the crown to Twilight. With her pure magic, the crown will always be used for good. But once you stole it and used its power for evil, it corrupted it and nearly rid itself of the pure magic it contained. If that crown had fully possessed dark magic, it could never be used by those who were good. It would have drained them of their power and made itself stronger. The crown would become a weapon for all evils."

Celestia took a step toward the mare who moved back in horror.

"And if that happened, there'd not be a way to destroy it completely. The dark magic would find a new host to reside in. And if the crown had to be destroyed, the elements of Harmony would be useless!"

Another step was taken toward her.

"And if the elements of Harmony were useless, Equestria would be doomed!!!"

Celestia flapped her enormous wings furiously causing Sunset to shield herself from what she thought was an attack.

"You caused so much trouble, that I have no choice."

Celestia's horn lit up and the mare cowered. She backed up into the case containing the vial.

"No, please! I just came to make things right!"

"And yet, you've made things go oh so wrong. Sunset Shimmer, you will forever be bound to the human world! I will rid you of ALL magic and you shall remain the rest of your days human. No longer will you be a unicorn or any pony. I will erase the Equestrian gene from you and rewrite your past, and you'll forever and always be human!"

Forever and always human?! No more a unicorn?? She'd be cast away from who she knew was her kind, but could no longer be proven. As the light on the princess' horn grew Sunset's legs shot toward the door. She did not want that fate.

But it was just as the skies predicted. They knew she would fall from greatness.

They knew.

The skies knew.

***

A huge burst of white magic shot and completely destroyed the door. Twilight, Shining Armor, Cadence, and the guards jumped in shock and fear. The blast happened so fast in front of them that it knocked the breath out of them. They just arrived in the hall where the artifact chamber was and now stuff was shooting out of it.

Along with the blast came a cry of pain and an orange mare came flying out of the room onto the stone floor.

"There! That's the intruder!" a guard yelled and they motioned to grab her.

Twilight blinked. That mare...She looked like--

"Sunset Shimmer!" a booming voice cried. Princess Celestia stepped out the room with fury in her eyes. " I, princess Celestia, with the power vested in me, forever banish you to the human world and erase your Equestrian gene!"

Her horn lit up brightly as she powered up to blast her again with a spell. Sunset was on the floor sobbing. There was a long, bloody scar across her left eye and the iris in that one was a pale green instead of the dark green her good eye was. The blast had missed her but hit her eye.

"Please! Don't take my magic away! Please! I only came to apologize and make things right! I panicked when the guard saw me. Please, princess Celestia!"

The princess wasn't going to listen and she kept summoning enormous lengths of power. Twilight couldn't believe what she was seeing. How could Sunset Shimmer be here? What was Celestia banishing her for? What could Sunset have done to cause this when she was reformed?

A million questions raced through her head. But before she knew it she screamed out Sunset's name.

"Sunset Shimmer!"

The mare blindly looked around in frantic movements.

"T-Twilight!" she responded desperately.

Sunset reeled around and moved her head everywhere. Twilight took a step forward but Celestia angrily called out.

"No, Twilight!!"

The magic Celestia had summoned was so powerful it made the princess quiver as she struggled to wield it.

"Sunset Shimmer!" Twilight shouted.

The mare turned to face her and Twilight knew instantly something was wrong. The eye Celestia had scarred looked at her but stared through her.

Celestia had made her go blind in that eye.

"Twi--" Before Sunset could finish her sentence, Celestia shot her with the magic.

Author's Notes:

...

Rewritten Past

Author's Notes:

In case you may have forgotten what's going on, right now Celestia is rewriting Sunset Shimmer's past. Oh yes. In the chapter before I mentioned an Equestrian gene. That just means the gene that makes her a pony.

I have a special thanks to Ferhog, whom I dedicated this story to. Thank you for the constructive feedback! I'll definitely try to improve with your advice in mind.

As soon as the spell hit immediately her life flashed before her eyes, literally. Above them hovered videos of the events in Sunset's life. Days of when she was Celestia's student passed them overhead. Sunset was constantly reading. She read while doing everything from walking to eating to talking. Like Twilight, she had no time for friends. But suddenly, the mare in the images changed into a human girl and so did those in the images around her. Instead of her being in a castle, she was in Canterlot High.

The floating pictures rapidly changed to her upbringing. Her parents were fine mare and stallion. They raised her and loved her with all their heart...until they died. It was a horrific illness that took them and left the foal all alone. It was Celestia who took her in and made her her student. Again, the ponies became humans and Celestia became an entirely different person. She was a lady who ran an orphanage.

Sunset Shimmer grimaced and twitched as she slowly transformed. Her bottom hooves slowly became feet covered in boots. The ponies there gasped as they watched the transformation and the images.

Then, as if pressing the fast forward button, the pictures zoomed to when Sunset Shimmer became corrupted with greed for the crown. She wanted to become a princess. Celestia did not think she was ready. The events unfolded as Sunset tried to get the crown, was caught, and then she jumped into the human world.

The events changed as predicted. It changed to her being an ungrateful orphan girl to the orphanage lady who then kicked her out of the place. From then, everything stayed the same, even when she went into Equestria to steal the crown from Twilight.

All the things that happened flashed before them. Sunset became popular and liked, but it soon got to her head and she turned wicked. She dated Flash Sentry up until then when Flash realized she was using him and was turning evil so he dumped her. She ruled the school until Twilight Sparkle came and went.

She became a humble person, but everyone ignored her and treated her as she did them, except for Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie. The five friends formed the Rainbooms shortly after the events of the first fiasco.

As they watched, it became apparent that Sunset Shimmer was depressed. When she tried to make a new friend, the person hightailed. When she was walking down the hall carrying something heavy, some jackass would trip her. When she got a good grade, everyone treated her worse. Sunset started to cry more, sleep less, and lose weight. Her friends never noticed her depression because every time they were around she'd put on a fake smile.

During The Battle of the Bands, it was really a time when her levels of depression went up and down dramatically. She was glad to see Twilight and thought she could make a good impression with the Sirens before the rumors hit. But soon everyone became bratty, conceited jerks and fought all around her and she stood by uselessly. Even her friends argued. And she couldn't help but feel like nothing would make anything better. She watched Twilight struggle with the song she was working so hard to create, but they knew, her and Twilight secretly, that it wouldn't work.

She felt left out of the Rainbooms since no one asked for her help(until the end) and everyone said something insulting about her at least five times. When she was needed was her happiest moment. She felt she had people on her side and helped defeat the Sirens.

But that didn't help her look better in the eyes of the students.

No more was she a unicorn now. Her hind legs became longer with knee length boots and a skirt. Her torso was stretched and covered by a tank top and her signature leather jacket. Her front legs became long arms with hands clenched into fists. Her muzzle no longer existed as there was a small nose followed by her lips. The only thing about her that was the same was her eyes, one good and one bad, and her hair.

Those that had never seen a human before were entranced by the strangeness before them. Sunset Shimmer laid weakly on the ground. She had absolutely no energy to move. All magic was void in her body. Celestia sighed deeply and looked down at her. "You should've just stayed where you were. You have friends there. Because you came back, your stay there is indefinite."

Using what power she had left, she transported her to the human world and used a spell that would never permit Sunset Shimmer through to Equestria. Twilight could see it was raining heavily on the other side and the girl almost right away was soaked. Sunset Shimmer slowly got to her knees and looked back.

Pain.

It was pain in her eyes. It was so deep and sorrowful that Twilight couldn't help but tear up a little. Something told her that Sunset was truly trying to make things ok between them. But Celestia's utter rejection had hurt her so badly. Even Sunset's unseeing eye was full of the sadness that had plagued her since she was small. Twilight could see it all. The life she saw before her, full of despair and grief, had been changed yet the girl still remembered.

She still remembered.

Twilight knew so. And suddenly, she felt guilty. She had just watched all those terrible things and didn't even try to step in to help her. Celestia may have changed the past, but it wasn't at all for the better. It was still, on a certain degree, just as sad as her real past. The purple pony kept staring at Sunset.

What Celestia did was wrong.

A sudden flash of lightning erupted in the human world and the sad expression Sunset had changed in an instant. Instead of her look of defeat came a dark face of anger. No more was she pitying herself. Her face was shadowed and her eyes reflected hate with every fiber of her being. It was nothing like anything Twilight had ever seen. Not even beings like Sombra or Chrysalis had so much hate in their eyes.

Sunset vanished without warning and Twilight's heart quenched.

Something told her that if she didn't act fast, all hell would break loose.

Sunset Shimmer v3.0

Author's Notes:

The last chapter was proven to be a success! The music videos I had added really helped dramatize Sunset's exile. This story has a lot more chapters than I intended. In my paper draft, this is chapter 4. But on here it's what, chapter 5? 6? Dunno. Either way, I'm glad people are enjoying it.

Which music video did you like? Was it Ice and Snow or Fragments of Dreams? I'm thinking of adding more music videos to other chapters later. Let me know if that would be a good idea.

Cheerliee was calling out the attendance the next day.

"Applejack."

"Here," the cowgirl said. She sat right next to Rainbow Dash, who casually lounged in her seat. The others had class elsewhere, the other main five students. The blue girl yawned loudly.

"Wonder where miss Sunshine is. I didn't see her at breakfast."

The miss Sunshine she was referring to was Sunset Shimmer. The other main five had classes elsewhere.

Applejack shrugged. " She's probably on her way here."

Cheerilee got through the whole attendance. She looked it over again.

"...Sunset Shimmer?"

Suddenly, the door burst open and in the doorway was the said girl. Grimly, she walked in. The class gawked at the incredible scar and discolored eye she now had.

Ms. Cheerilee's eyes widened. " Oh my..."

"I know," Sunset snapped and sat down roughly in her seat.

"Maybe you should go to the doctor about it. How did that happen?" the teacher asked.

Sunset glared at her. "Why should I have to tell you?"

Her tone of voice caught Cheerilee off guard.

"I'm just concerned. Your eye shouldn't be discolored. Maybe I can--"

"Shut up! I didn't ask you for your advice! If you have a problem with it too bad! The last time I checked you weren't my mother!!" she roared angrily.

Sunset's teeth were clenched and she ground them together as she balled her hands into fists. The dark glare she had on her face was enough to make Cheerilee swallow, but what really scared her was her left eye. The long scar running across her face was fiercely red; it was recent. The pale green iris seemed to glow a ghostly shade and made her words more cutting and hurtful.

Cheerilee immediately looked away and picked up her chalk.

"W-Well, class. Lets g-get started on t-today's lesson." Rainbow Dash and Applejack sat with their mouths open. This was unlike Sunset, well, as her reformed self. They couldn't believe she was acting this way.

But it seemed that the other students already accepted that she was back.

Things became worse that day and it became apparent that Sunset Shimmr was no longer a good girl. Fear was struck back into those who didn't obey her and they would straighten up just like that! In just a day, a rumor about the queen of CHS came to the ears of Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna. They called her to the office and after a good twenty minutes, Sunset walked out of there with the widest smirk on her face. No one exactly knew what went down in the office, but it was obvious that whatever happened, didn't go down in the students' favor.

It felt good to be back. That's all Sunset could think as she glanced at those around her. She could finally be herself. She could finally breath. It was finally her time to shine.

Being in charge was all she wanted. Sunset came to that conclusion right after she was exiled from Equestria. No one could tell her what to do, not even Celestia. Or even the Celestia of this world. She had made sure she put some sense into the human one since knocking sense into the other one was impossible. Either way she had control.

Nothing could stop her.

Sunset thought back on the night of her exile. Twilight had done nothing. She had called out her name as though she were going to help, but of course, when Celestia yells out no, she had to obey. Well! What happened to true friendship?

Twilight was supposed to be a friend and help her through times of struggle. You saw how that turned out. Sunset grimaced at the thought of the purple princess. If she ever showed her face in that world, she'd make sure that she had no teeth. She'd pound her to death and send her body back to Celestia as a warning.

She was the queen.

She was the ruler.

If she did anything to throw her off her throne, she'd find ways to hurt Celestia.

And that was the truth.

Sunset Shimmer is bae!!!

Author's Notes:

Yo!

It's been three days since the last update. Sorry, people! I was having a hard time with writer's block on my other story. Looks like I'll have to put that one on Hiatus until my mind has got back to normal.

Let me know when you guys want another music video chappy! I wouldn't mind giving you one.
P.S. Today, I took my Physical Science and Algebra 1 test. I'm in the 8th but you know, they're AP classes for me. Hopefully, I'll get a good grade! Yeah! 14 in a class full of 15 year old peeps!

"Stay away from the portal," Celestia had said months before.

Almost half a year passed since Sunset's exile. Twilight was forbidden to go near the portal for fear she may get hurt.

"It's for your own safety," the princess had told her.

"But she has no magic! She's forever human!" Twilight argued.

"No, Twilight. Understand that she may have no magic and is human now, but she can still obtain power. Similar to how your human Main 5 friends can activate the Elements of Harmony, despite not being the original ponies who the elements belong to, she can take energy in the same way. Your human friends rely on the friendship of your pony friends to be strong so the elements work. Sunset Shimmer can find a way to absorb your power just by being re-friended. So no, you cannot go over there," Celestia countered.

Twilight thought back to Sunset's desperate-ness to be spared the fate Celestia stowed upon her. The life she saw flash before her was not at all an easy life to live. Full of despair, greed, and emptiness; Sunset's life was utterly terrible. With all that happened, Twilight began to question Celestia's actions.

The ruler of Equestria knew of her past. That is one of the reasons she took Sunset Shimmer under her wing and guided her toward becoming a princess. Celestia had adopted her out of pity. As the years went on, Sunset's magical abilities, her mind, and pride grew. She was able to be the best despite the loss of her parents.

Twilight didn't know this but after doing a bit of snooping, she found out that Sunset Shimmer had been taken in by Celestia at age five and had been studying under as a student only a year before her. Why hadn't she known about her?

To think that this mare had been studying with Celestia around the same time as her, but never had met. It only made things suspicious. Was Sunset Shimmer already corrupted then? How could ,in Twilight's whole 12 years as Celestia's student, she not know of this girl who studied those same years until Twilight's 9th year?

It seemed to her that they were in parallel worlds; they were in the same place, in the same time, but neither crossed paths.

Twilight began to secretly look through files on Sunset Shimmer behind Celestia's back. There were quite a few things she learned. The very first thing was that Sunset Shimmer was older than her by one year. The mare escaped into the other world at age 15 and stayed there for two years. She currently was 17 now.

Sunset Shimmer had a special ability in reading other's emotions. She did well in psychology and scored high in games like memory and card games. She was able to guess a player's hand, good or bad, and what cards you had all by facial features and gestures. She could accurately tell the exact hand and cards 93% of the time.

Twilight was amazed and read more.

During Sunset's second year as a student, there was an accident involving chemicals. The pony had unintentionally created an invisible gas that spanned from Canterlot to Ponyville and Cloudsdale that when inhaled, increased pony magic, wing speed, and physical strength depending on your pony race. Twilight read the date it was said to have happened.

February 21

The princess reeled back in alarm. That was the day that Rainbow Dash performed the first ever Sonic Rainboom that caused her and her friends to get their cutie marks. She realized that their cutie marks were owed to them by Sunset Shimmer rather than the daredevil. The gas increased Rainbow Dash's wing speed and caused the sonic rainboom to happen, which made Fluttershy fall and find her animals. The rainboom caused by the extreme speed then helped Pinkie Pie to be inspired and Applejack to find her way home. The gas also increased Twilight and Rarity's magic which made Twilight's power go off the chain and actually get her accepted by Celestia as a student, and Rarity to find those gems.

"That's so cool..." Twilight whispered. She was completely surprised by how great this pony really was.

One thing that stuck out was that Sunset Shimmer wasn't born with the yellow streaks in her hair. It was something she noticed in the odd videos months before when Sunset was exiled. But some of the scenes zipped by so fast she didn't give it much thought.

The yellow streaks she got from walking through poison joke. As a prank, the flowers made her blindingly bright yellow like the sun. I was a joke upon her name. Twilight tried to imagine Sunset Shimmer as yellow as the very object Celestia raised each morning.

It was like she should've been named Sunrise Shine rather than Sunset Shimmer the file said.

At the time poison joke had never been discovered until then. Sunset Shimmer searched for a cure and found that bathing in an herbal bath was the best way. But by the time she found the cure the yellow pigment stayed in her hair like a permanent dye. This inspired Sunset to study herbology and she wrote a book on the strange plants of the Everfree as a result.

Wait.

Wrote a book?

As far as she knew, every book Twilight read under herbology, there was no Sunset Shimmer that had written them. Looking further she read a particular sentence that caught her eye.

Under the alias Sunrise Shine she wrote Supernaturals.

Immediately, Twilight searched for the book. Looking at the green cover she sure enough confirmed it. It was in fact written by a Sunrise Shine. So the mare wrote a book under her given nickname she acquired during her research.

With all this new knowledge she had gathered about Sunset Shimmer, Twilight actually felt in debt to her and admired her work. Though she may have not met her those years before, she realized that the mare had an impact on her regardless.

And that made Twilight smile.

This girl she thought was a cruel villain was actually a prodigy in disguise. In a way, she felt closer to her. But at the same time, she felt very suspicious of princess Celestia. How could she hide such a wonderful pony from her? How DID she even do it??

She had to see this girl. She needed to make sure the princess' choice was right. Part of her was scared what she'd see when she passed through the mirror. The evil glare she saw months before plagued her dreams.

But secretly, a small part of her wanted to see the great pony she read about under the cold façade.

The Plan

It was early morning the next day. Twilight checked her calendar. Today was the day Celestia and Luna would go to Saddle Arabia for a meeting with the Duke and Duchess. Cadence was busy at her palace in the Crystal Empire, and Twilight was to be in charge of everything at Canterlot.

She trusted her friends to run her castle and take care of the daily complaints about friendship just fine, so nothing crazy should happen. Twilight stepped over Spike's sleeping self and went down the stairs to the main castle doors. Nodding to the guards that opened the doors, she jumped in the air and took off.

As always, it was a shaky take off. Being given wings and learning to fly was not at all easy. Twilight made sure her saddle bag was secure to her waist. She didn't want what was in it to fall out.

In the next twenty minutes or so she arrived at the castle and was greeted kindly by the guards and servants. She checked the time. It was 4:23 in the morning. She was three minutes off schedule. This put her in a slight mood as she set to her royal duties. 8am was her ultimate deadline. She had to get done by then or her whole plan would fall to bits. Princess Celestia and princess Luna would be back by early evening and she couldn't risk missing the 8am mark...

Twilight sat her saddle bag down and hurried along. She had about three hours and forty minutes...Hastily, she got to her stack of papers. All of them needed to be read, signed, and mailed. A quill floated in the air as she scanned the long and boring documents. After a while her train of thought drifted to the events of the night before.

Flashback

It was dark out and Twilight wanted to make a plan to get to Sunset Shimmer without Celestia knowing. Twilight knew that for the last six months she'd been deceiving the princess with smoke and mirrors as she dug through her files and found out secrets. Every time Celestia wasn't looking, Twilight was in her office.

Finally, after two months, Twilight was able to get a hold of Celestia's schedule and she used it to her advantage. The next day was her appointment with the Duke and Duchess of Saddle Arabia. The bonus was that Luna was going along as well.

Unlike Celestia, Luna wasn't very trusting of everypony. And on one occasion she almost caught Twilight looking at confidential documents on Sunset's adoption and records on her life. Luckily for Twilight, Luna had not been looking closely at the papers she had.

It was not easy lying to somepony you looked up to as a role model. Celestia told her she should not go to the other world and see Sunset, but she just need to see if the cruel fate she cast upon her was the right thing to do. Twilight knew all the details of what went down in the artifact chamber. Maybe Sunset Shimmer really was trying to apologize to her. Maybe she wasn't trying to steal the vial of dark magic.

But Twilight couldn't tell for sure. There were moments when Sunset, even though reformed, had sparks of evil flare out of no where...

The pony trotted out of Celestia's office that night and rushed to the library. Dumbly, the mirror had not been moved. If Celestia really wanted Twilight to be safe, she would've had the mirror moved into a high security area. Not keep it in the library where Twilight almost always spends her time in. But that was Celestia's choice. For Twilight, it was a perk to being trustworthy.

The mare stared at the mirror and took out a piece of paper with calculations. Ever since Rainbow Rocks happened the portal began to open and close sporadically due to the magical imbalance of that world. That was how Sunset Shimmer was able to come through.

With the mirror acting up it was moved from the artifact chamber to the library. Twilight had to make calculations on when the portal opens and how long. That's what the paper was for. But even with the calculations, she could be wrong.

"The portal's been closed for two weeks and nine hours..." Twilight touched the glass to check if it opened. It was closed. " Tomorrow there should be a 73% chance it'll open and from around 8:00am to 1:00pm, a five hour window of time."

Twilight went to a book shelf and removed a green book from it. She opened it and inside were folded copies of Sunset's studies, observations, and theorems that she wrote oh so long ago. Twilight grinned. With these she can prove to her that she believed Sunset was important. Then, phase two was to get her talking and get to know her better. After phase two, she'll make a judgment as to whether or not Sunset deserved her punishment. If not, she'd talk to Celestia.

The plan should go smoothly. Twilight just hoped her calculations were right.

***

7:59! Ohmigosh!

Twilight rushed to get her stuff together. The portal was to open in a matter of seconds! She had to hurry and get there. Every second was precious. Celestia and Luna might decide to come home early...

The purple pony zoomed to the library. It was still 7:59. She had only a little sliver of time to get to the mirror and climb through to the other side. By the time she got to the mirror it was just turning eight.

"I got here just in time," she huffed. Checking her calculations she sighed.

Seventy three percent chance of the portal being open. If the portal didn't open, the whole plan would be for nothing.

Twilight swallowed hard and raised a hoof to the mirror. Her mind ran through all the things that could've gone wrong. She could've been caught snooping in Celestia's office, or reading confidential documents, or lying to Celestia (which is actually a crime in Equestria). Twilight broke so many laws doing all this that her place as princess would immediately crumble if anyone found out. She'd be dethroned and probably banned from entering Canterlot.

Sweat rolled down her face as her hoof was only three inches...two...one inch away...

When her hoof touched the mirror, however, it did not let her pass.

Twilight sighed sadly. All that work she did to get her plan down-packed took six months. Six months! Everything was a waste. She thought that it would work, this plan, and it--

Suddenly, Twilight felt herself falling through and she landed on the other side.

"Ow..."

She sat up slowly and rubbed her head. Looking down, she saw the familiar claw-like things the people of this world called hands.

Her eyes widened and she sprung to her feet. "Yes! It worked My plan worked!"

She excitedly turned around to see students filing into CHS. It was early morning and school had yet to start. Clutching her saddle bag, she happily followed the students into Canterlot Highschool.

Oh how she would regret it. But, of course, she wouldn't know until she stepped inside behind the doors of the school...

Twilight felt there was something wrong as soon as she came into the school. There was an uncomfortable feeling in the air, full of tension and unspoken worries and anxiety. The students around her walked with their heads down and looked as though they'd run at the slightest noise. No one was talking. Only the clicking of their lockers could be heard.

Cautiously, Twilight headed toward the lunchroom where breakfast was being served. The teens all chatted, but in hushed whispers and every once in a while would look around. Twilight couldn't quite comprehend this sick feeling she began to have. Even Derpy, who took longer to process things understood the atmosphere and was just as scary acting as the others. Advancing through the lunchroom, she scanned the place for Sunset Shimmer. But her fiery hair couldn't be seen anywhere. Not watching where she was going she bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry," she said and of course saw it was Brian Flash Sentry. "Flash!"

"Twilight!" he said back with surprise. He smiled and gave her a hug. Twilight blushed and pushed him away a little.(rejection!:ajsmug:

"I'm glad to see you, too," she replied.

Flash let her go and looked at her seriously. " Twilight, you need to come with me now."

He grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the lunchroom.

"F-Flash, where are we going?" the girl asked.

Flash glanced around the hall and quickened his step. " Shh! Before she hears us!"

"She?" Twilight repeated.

"Shh!" Flash hissed.

He pulled her along into a room and before she knew it, the Main 5 were all gathered around her excitedly. Flash had taken her into the Rainboom's practice room.

"Twilight! Oh my gosh, it's so good to see you!" Rarity exclaimed and she threw her arms around her.

Twilight hugged her back. "Hi, girls."

Applejack tipped her hat in greeting. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash grinned at her oddly and Pinkie...

Twilight saw her in the corner hunched over muttering. The smile on her face went away. All of her friends, except Applejack it seemed, had that same antsy feeling. She knew something was off by those grins two of them gave her. A dead giveaway was Rainbow Dash pacing around, but it was more like a jog that sort of became a run. She looked as though she were a dog trapped in a cage and wanted out.

Fluttershy was biting her nails; always a clear sign of worry. She looked like she may have been crying. And Rarity...she was holding onto her so tightly that she couldn't breath. Normally, she wasn't so clingy. But everyone knows things aren't well when Pinkie isn't hyper. The said girl turned and glanced back grimly. Her poofy hair was no longer. Instead, was long straight hair that she knew well to be a telling sign that it was Pinkamena she was looking at.

Twilight glanced back at Brian Flash Sentry, who funnily enough, stood guard at the door. He lifted up the blinds every few minutes to check the halls. Everyone there was hiding apparently.

"Applejack, are you ok?" Twilight asked.

The cowgirl crossed her arms. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Shoot. No worries."

Even though her face wasn't expressive, Twilight knew she was pissed. Applejack was rambling and her tone was un-natural.

Twilight was tired of all the dreariness. And that's when she asked the ten thousand dollar question.

"Where's Sunset Shimmer?"

Everyone gasped and stared at her, except Pinkie, who kept grumbling.

"Don't you say that name again," Applejack warned.

Twilight blinked. "But where is Sun--"

Rarity covered her mouth. "Shh! Please don't! Every time someone says it Pinkie goes off the wall crazy! And you don't want to know what that's like."

As if proving her point, Pinkie twitched sporadically.

"You're lucky she didn't hear you the first time," Rarity hissed and removed her hand from her mouth.

Twilight was confused. "Why? What's going on? Where is she?"

Rainbow Dash and Applejack glanced at each other.

"It was six months ago," Rainbow Dash explained. "One day she came into class late. When she came in, the first thing we noticed was her...her eye." Rainbow pointed to her own and shuddered.

Twilight's thoughts went back to the day of Sunset's exile. How hate was strong within her. Twilight didn't need anymore explained to her. She was afraid of this. Her heart skipped a beat. Sunset was evil again.

"What did she do?" she asked.

"She did horrible things! She caused the soccer team to be disbanned, called Rarity and Applejack mean things, made Pinkie stop throwing parties and good cheer, and took away Angel bunny!" Fluttershy told her tearing up.

Flash sighed and crossed his arms. "She runs the school. She even set the rules that everyone has to follow."

"Like replacing the school pledge with two verses of praise to her!" Applejack said.

"And banning all activities that she doesn't approve of!" Rainbow Dash added.

"And making us keep a picture of her stupid face in our lockers! It makes go crazy!!!" Pinkamena cried.

Automatically, her friends went to keep her down and cover her mouth.

"You're gonna get us caught by her!" Flash said and checked the halls.

This was bad. Everything going on was the result of a dictatorship. Sunset had gone too far this time. All she heard about her only made her feel that the plan would fail.

Where was Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna? She was afraid to even ask.

The bell rang and Twilight's friends had to go.

"You should stay in here where it is safe," Flash told her and squeezed her shoulder. "Don't try to solve the problem. It'll only make things worse."

And with that he closed the door and left Twilight in the room alone.

Where's the Romance??

Author's Notes:

Me: So you got your romance...sort of.

You: What do you mean sort of?!

Music!

Sunset Shimmer walked down the hall with a grin of pure satisfaction. Everything was going well for the queen of CHS. If only she had magic, she could do more. But with Celestia not seeming to care what she did, Sunset had all the time in the world. I mean, as long as she didn't mess with Equestria, right? Otherwise, Celestia turned a blind eye.

Speaking of blind eye...Sunset had visited every ophthalmologist in town but none could help her with the situation she was in. Laser eye surgery was something she couldn't afford nor wanted to pay for. There were days when she forgot her eye was damaged. Sunset would panic and bump into things until she remembered she was blind in her left eye.

The scar symbolized her miserable fate that the princess she idolized bestowed upon her. It was humiliating and only made things worse. She heard students mumble under their breath about it.

Her eye.

The scar.

That's all it ever was.

She hated looking at herself in the mirror early morning. It was ugly, the scar, and it marked her flawless beauty. Sunset sniffed and made her way to her locker. No matter what, she was the best.

At the moment, no one else was in the hall and for Sunset it was a free period. The girl put away her things and headed to the only place she ever went to that period.

The library.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=squHSAn_zGE

Time of endless peace is what I'd name this

The library gave her a sense of calm. Memories of her days studying always came back to her and she felt at peace. Reading was how she escaped the world around her. It was the cure to everything: her parent's death, her defeat, her fate, and life. It stopped her from facing reality and she'd wander into a world of fantasy, where she was free to smile and laugh and be herself.

The words she read flowed through her veins and became the air she breathed. Wondrous works of literature became movies in her head, playing scenes she found enjoyable. The only problem was that it was always interrupted by the obnoxious ring of the bell of death, or just the bell. It would snap her back to the gloomy atmosphere around her.

Sunset scanned the shelves for a book she wanted. Her fingers ran across the spines of the many choices of literature she could choose from. Sunset had read a variety of things from Astronomy to Encyclopedias. At the moment, none of the books were at all interesting. She sighed and walked in and out of the rows of shelves.

While searching for a good book, Sunset glanced up at the Romance section. She had never read a romance story before. All her reading was nonfiction along with the occasional adventure story. Curiously, she went over to the shelves and glanced at the titles.

Love at first sight

Teen Love

Dude of my dreams

Pretty sappy she thought. Sunset wanted to find a book a little less obvious that it was all about love. She'd never be caught dead with a romance story. For the next ten minutes she looked around intensely for a story that met her requirement. But they all were not what she wanted. It was as if those books were "loud and proud" and wanted to show off its genre.

Sunset gave up her pursuit and turned away. As she walked down the aisle, she noticed a book that wasn't pushed in on the shelf properly. Motioning to tuck it between the other books, she raised her hand. But the title caught her eye.

If she were the sun and her the moon

This aroused the girl's interest. First off, it was a romance story that met her set requirement. Second off, it said 'she' and 'her'. Most of the novels she passed were about a guy and a girl. Was this a lesbian story?

She grabbed it off the shelf and sat down at a table. Sunset opened the book and read the inside flap. Yes, this was a lesbian story. Knowing this only made the book more interesting.

She turned to the first page and sat the book down at an angle on the table. Reading from one eye had taken her time to figure out. She just had to position the novel so it was below her good eye, that way she didn't have to turn her head all the way to read from one page to the next. Propping herself up on her shoulder, she began to read the prologue.

Both of them knew from the start that they would never be friends. Like water and fire, they'd battle against one another until one of them admits defeat or they cancel each other out. Heated arguments always erupted when they were in a two yard range of each other and no one could stop the bickering. It was a disaster.

Red Rose was an 18 year old girl with a fiery personality. At the slightest hint of anything rude pertaining to her, her mouth shot an insult faster than a bullet. Her quick wit and sarcasm ran everybody insane. No one could ever have a normal conversation with her. You just wouldn't know what she'd say.

Always wearing what's in style the minute it becomes fashionable, you could consider her a material girl. But others would say she was a model.

Her hair was as red as strawberries and her eyes the warm color of hazel. Red's rosy cheeks and faint freckles gave her an innocent look. You'd be wrong if you even thought she was good natured for a second. Her prefect height, weight, and body type was envied by other girls and googled at by boys. With her flawless skin and charming grin, she was the Belle of the ball. Speaking of Belle...

Her rival, Blue Belle, was a quiet, private person. Her dark hair was pulled back in a messy bun and her large glasses always slipped off her nose. Never up with the latest style, she just wore a white blouse and black slacks. Blue Belle, as you might be thinking was your typical nerd. Not necessarily. She had sharp grey eyes that were as cold as ice that bore into your head like lasers. She wasn't friendly nor gawky or awkward. She walked with purpose.

Arrogance radiated from her like heat and she hardly ever smiled.

Red Rose's happy, cheerful personality always clashed with her serious attitude. They argued 24/7. There was no way they could be friends.

But they would find that they could be lovers.

Sunset's face burned red hot at this. How could these two girls be lovers when they were so different? The girl thought about the prologue she read. The story seemed ok. Not the best book she's ever read but this was good(she guessed) for a romance story.

Sunset could somewhat relate to both of them characteristically. Red Rose was definitely more her in appearance and style than Blue Belle. Her smart mouth could also just as easily be hers. But Red Rose's happy and cheerful personality did not match. It was Blue Belle's arrogance that she related to. Even Sunset had to admit to it, though her pride would never allow her to say that out loud.

Sunset had once been the happy Red Rose, but for a split second. Blue Belle reminded her of someone. Who, she couldn't say. But switch Red Rose and Blue Belle's personalities and the resemblance was strong. Sunset Shimmer was Red Rose with Blue
Belle's attitude. Blue Belle with Red Rose's personality could be...

Her mind clicked back to when she was in Equestria staring at the gorgeous glass stain mural in the palace. Celestia deliberately chose Twilight because she was the opposite of her. That thought came back to her as well as the time six months ago when she looked up at the night sky and cried.

They knew.

The skies knew.

Sunset wasn't quite sure why these memories were coming back to her. Like during the final battle with the Sirens, Twilight and the Rainbooms fell back after an impressive harmony the Sirens blasted their way. Twilight had raised her hand up to her and said," Sunset Shimmer, we need you!"

Her heart had leapt up in joy as she took the mic on the ground and began to sing. She felt happy when Twilight needed her to help defeat the Sirens. She sang with the princess sharing the mic and let out all her stress. She let it ring out in her voice until it was all out.

And the time she had a late night conversation with Twilight at Pinkie's. Back at the moment, she was able to connect with her. Or even when Twilight blushed when she was told Brian Flash Sentry asked about her. Sunset thought it was cute how she twirled her hair and how her voice became adorably high pitched.

Then it hit her. Blue Belle reminded her of Twilight. And those memories were of when she felt something in her heart. Because of Twilight. If Sunset were Red Rose and Twilight Blue Belle...

If she were the sun and her the moon.

Sunset burned up. She shoved the book away and swallowed dryly. No, no, no! Her mind went crazy. Just like the astronomical similarity between Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle, Red Rose and Blue Belle were similar as in them being flowers. But at the same time they were different. Just like her and Twilight.

Ugh! No! Get yourself together!

Her heart raced and as her breath hastened. Her cheeks felt warm and a random tingling sensation ran through her. No way. It was just not possible. She and Twilight were never meant to be. It was just a book. Twilight was on Celestia's side anyway. NO WAY...

But that made all them all the more different and according to the book--

Sunset slammed her fists angrily on the table. All this gave her a headache. It also made her eye ache. Similar to phantom pains, Sunset got pains in her eye where she lost sight. The difference between the two pains was that her eye wasn't missing in order phantom pains to take effect.

She sighed and gritted her teeth. It throbbed, her head, with the surging ache from her eye. Sunset was thinking way too hard about a subject she felt strongly about. Sure she had thought a few things Sparkle did were cute but that didn't mean anything. There was no way she liked her. She was straight! Sunset had dated BrianFlash Sentry and that was proof, even if she didn't like him like him. Just...no...no, no, NO!

In a sudden rage she stormed out the library. She will never, ever read another romance novel again.

Ever.

Blood on Shattered Glass(Music!!!)

It was 11:31am and Twilight had been cooped up in the practice room long enough. Despite what her friends said she had to face Sunset Shimmer. She had planned this for six months and she wasn't going to let her plan fall to pieces. Besides, she had only about an hour and a half before the portal closed...

Twilight opened the door and stepped out into the hall. It was empty and she was glad. Through a swarm of people, she'd never find Sunset. Like a toddler, she peeked in at the classes through the window and scanned for her target. She had spotted some people she recognized, like Colgate and Cloudkicker, but Sunset Shimmer was nowhere to be seen. It took her a long time to find her. Twilight had run all over the building searching for her.

But in the end, Sunset had walked right by Twilight.

She really did. Literally.

Twilight had just about given up when a grumbling Sunset Shimmer stalked right by her. The girl had not seen her because Twilight was on her blind side. The purple girl nearly jumped at the sudden appearance. To her surprise, Sunset hadn't changed much in looks. She still wore that signature leather jacket and same orange skirt and riding boots.

Sunset was slightly red in the face and was squinting. Her unseeing eye was pink and looked quite sore. Sunset was muttering about something and headed down toward the main office. Twilight decided to follow her. Sunset walked down the hall and turned into the nurse's office.

So she was in need of some medicine the princess thought.

After some unexpected yelling that erupted from the office, Sunset came out the office with some medication and a rag. Twilight ducked behind a trash can as she came storming past. Sunset was back, with the yelling as proof.

The girl went into the bathroom and in Twilight followed. There she experienced Sunset Shimmer v3.0 first hand.

The queen of CHS placed the pill on her tongue and swallowed it dry. It would help relieve the pounding in her head. She looked down at the sink and turned on the faucet. Putting the rag under the water, she tried to rid her mind of that damned book. No more romance. No more.

Thinking about class was boring. She was a genius and already learned it all. Wondering about tomorrow wouldn't do a thing. It wouldn't do a thing. It would just be another day of the usual. Or maybe books? Thoughts of Red Rose and Blue Belle swarmed her mind. NO.

Sunset looked up as she raised the rag to her eye and saw herself in the mirror. The scar was showing, ugly and unwanted.

Celestia did this.

Rage began to fill her up like pouring water into a jug. Celestia hurt her. She made her suffer. She shook with anger and balled up her hands into fists. The rag, in one hand, began to spill water all over the floor as she squeezed it. The rag was the only thing stopping her from digging her nails into the palm of her hand.

This punishment she was given was horrible. At first, she was able to get by just fine and smirked at how dumb Celestia was but soon she saw how dumb she herself was.

Even though she reclaimed her seat as the top girl, it wasn't the same. After Twilight had shown her what friendship was she was happy. But ever since she lost her only friends that day six months ago, she began to miss them. In a rush for egotistical purposes, she lost the friends she gained. Her days were lonely without them. She used to laugh and sing and talk with them, and now...

That was shot down quick.

Sunset walked the halls like nothing bothered her but everything bothered her. The way others looked away, how they cowered, how they would jump aside to move so's they wouldn't be too close to her. It especially bothered her when she caught them looking at her. Hate. She saw it. It burned through her.

She couldn't stand it. The more good things she was exposed to the more pain it brought when she lost it. And now, she stood in front of a mirror in the bathroom letting all her anger build up.

Sunset smashed her fist into the mirror and it busted into tons of pieces; some fell on the floor and littered it with safety hazards, and others hang onto the wall. Long cracks came from her fist up to the corners of the mirror's frame like jagged rays from the sun. Sunset was breathing heavily as all her pain surged through her body, into her arm, and was released into the bloody fist that remained pressed to the cracked mirror. Water from the rag found their way into the cuts in her hand and set fire to them. Drops of water and blood ran down her wrist and onto the floor slowly...painfully...

Sunset's ears began to ring and the vision she had began to blur. The slivers of glass that stayed up in the frame showed distorted reflections of the bathroom. And in one piece, she saw Twilight peeking from behind a stall door, bewildered.

Sunset let her bleeding hand drop to her side. She stared directly at Twilight via reflection. Twilight's form blurred and cleared constantly in Sunset's vision. And suddenly, she began to change into Celestia.

You deserve this Celestia said in her mind. You will pay for the crown's near loss.

The words rang in her head. She opened her mouth to say something but instead came out a cry of desperation. Tears welled up and fell from the corners of her eyes. Sunset's face became twisted in sadness and pain. The sobs that came from her mouth were agonizing.

Sunset Shimmer fell to her knees and felt the glass cut her. But she didn't care. The pain was all the same to her. It was familiar. She let it all out. Just like that night of her exile. She had cried it all out. The throbbing in her head, eye, chest, hand, and knee all suddenly intensified and before she knew it, she had blacked out and fell on her side.

Author's Notes:

I actually really enjoy adding music videos to my chapter. It all started out as something I thought would be cool and now, I'm doing it almost every chapter so far! After this chapter, though, I plan to take a break from it. I don't want to annoy anyone with the music in every chapter.

Thank you, everyone, who reads this story...and actually reads the Author's Notes...

BTW, I'm not a big anime person. It's just that anime always has good songs to use.

Instability-Part 1(Unscripted)

Author's Notes:

WARNING: This chapter as well as others to come is unscripted. That means it hasn't been pre-planned like all the chapters before. This came to me as a crazy idea as I edited my last chapter. If there are any mistakes please let me know. If you do not like this unscripted chapter, please let me know in the comments.

Everything happened so fast. The ambulance had come and whole school was frazzled. Everyone watched in shock as the paramedics carried Sunset into the truck. Twilight hopped into the back much to their surprise. From the cuts and blood all over the queen and the fact there's Twilight, rumors spread. The most popular rumor was that Twilight beat her up and Sunset K.O'd.

But that's not how it happened, of course.

Twilight sat beside Sunset's bed as the doctor told her the girl's condition.

" Your friend here is depressed and with all that mental stress, we assume she attempted to commit suicide. She probably punched the mirror to get a piece of glass to cut her wrist but due to the pain, she passed out. This girl is very much underweight and malnourished so the possibility of her having fainted after the sudden impact is very high."

The doctor was about to say more when a nurse came rushing in holding papers and x rays. " Doctor, this is serious."

The nurse whispered urgently to the doctor and his calm expression changed dramatically. His slight smile dropped into a nervous, tight-lipped frowned. He glanced at Twilight and cleared his throat.

" Young lady, is there an adult here with you?"

" No," Twilight responded." But our principal should be on her way here."

The doctor nodded and turned toward the door with the nurse following. " Watch over your friend. She may be suicidal," he said in a pinched voice.

Something was wrong. Twilight knew from their nervous behavior. They weren't telling her something...

Twilight looked at Sunset who laid in the bed looking peaceful, like death was hanging over her. The cuts came from her cheek to her hand, some sores stretching across her shoulder and arm. There were bags under her eyes and her face was slightly sunken in at the cheeks. Sunset's hair fanned out around her face like rays of dull light.

Twilight felt her heart squeeze in her chest. This is probably how she'd look in death. She'd look worn out yet grateful it came to end her continuous torture. Twilight subconsciously raised her hand to brush the loose strand of hair from Sunset's face. Her skin felt soft to touch despite her rough personality. It was like silk; warm and smooth under her fingertips. The strand she tucked behind Sunset's ear and moved her hand away.

That's when Twilight noticed how beautiful Sunset was. Even though she looked a bit older from malnourishment and whatnot, she still looked amazing. The girl's hair was just as stylish as Rarity's, but somehow she made it that way by only a few strokes of a brush. Rarity had a whole salon going on with sprays and gels. Sunset had lovely green eyes that had a spark of mischief, unlike Applejack's, who Twilight also thought had nice green eyes.

Sunset's olive complexion skin was free of any marks(except for her eye and cuts) and was as smooth as a foal's flank.

Sunset definitely was fit. That was as plain as day. She wasn't as active as Applejack or Rainbow Dash, but she was third place when it came to running around a lot. Twilight especially thought so when Sunset removed her leather jacket. Sunset had the body of a gymnast, with long slender arms and legs slightly muscled and defined. It was much unlike Rainbow Dash, who had small compact muscles due to running around on the soccer field, or Applejack's completely ripped body. If Twilight hadn't known Sunset, she would've thought she danced or did something like cheerleading.

And her hips! They were clearly noticeable as well as her butt and chest.

Twilight cleared her throat. She was embarrassed by these thoughts. Was she attracted to her? Twilight shook her head. It was only observation. Twilight frowned slightly. Whatever the doctor was hiding wasn't good. Surely he'd tell Principal Celestia. All she had to do was wait for her to come...

But that didn't turn out as expected.

She started to feel tired and yawned. With the smell of lavenders drifting through the air she closed her eyes and laid her head on the bed. Yawning softly, she fell asleep beside the girl and dreamed of her friends prancing around in a meadow full of roses and bluebells.

Celestia and Luna flew down and landed in front of the palace. The meeting with the Duke and Duchess ran a little late. Ok, a lot late.

It was 10:00pm at night, five hours over their original planned time of arrival at the castle. Celestia was exhausted and was glad to be home. She wanted to talk to Twilight anyhow. She had noticed that her former student had been acting strangely. Maybe she was having troubles with her duties but didn't want to admit it.

Celestia said good night to her sister and went into her room. She had the herald look for Twilight and sighed. Celestia hadn't intended to leave Twilight with the castle as long as she, especially since she believed Twilight struggled with her responsibilities.

But five minutes became ten and ten, fifteen.

Celestia waited for the herald to come back patiently. He came back with a paper in his mouth. The herald sat it down and said," Your majesty, princess Twilight is not in the castle. But she did leave her schedule behind."

Celestia glanced down at it and paused. This schedule was indeed Twilight's; her handwriting was all over it. But the things on it were from her schedule.

Celestia- Meeting w/ governor[22nd of that month]

Visiting Cadence[11th]

Lunch w/ council[3rd]

These were some of the things on it. What puzzled her the most was the circled date, that happened to be that day.

Meeting w/ Duke + Duchess

Why did Twilight know her schedule? She had never asked for it yet here she had it. What did it mean, the circled date? Celestia assumed Twilight went home. She probably had this down for a special reason. Celestia's 1562nd birthday was that month and she might've been preparing something for her.

The alicorn smiled. Twilight was very thoughtful. She dismissed the herald and settled down to sleep.

If she had known what it really meant, the circled date, she would've known to go to the portal.

Instability-Part 2(Unscripted)

Author's Notes:

This new information you will be getting in this chapter will be explained later. Also, there's some technical terms in here. I have the link right here so you guys know I'm not talking out of my butt.

http://www.ehow.com/about_5483907_part-brain-controls-emotions.html

It was around the same time Celestia came home in the other world that Twilight woke to the sound of talking. She opened her eyes sleepily to see Sunset sleeping peacefully. She smiled and inhaled the scent of lavenders. Twilight stretched and glanced back at the door. It was cracked. So that's where the talking came from.

Twilight got up and went to the door to close it so she could get some more sleep when she heard something that made her heart stop.

" She's unstable."

It was the doctor. Twilight peeked through the crack and saw Principal Celestia and the man.

" I had known for a long time, doctor. Ever since she came to Canterlot high," Celestia said.

The doctor shook his head and showed her some X rays. " This is a couple of scans on her brain. Right here in her Prefrontal Cortex, the part that controls emotions, it shows there's some damage. An important nerve has been disconnected somehow and it's very recent. Presumably, the nerve was severed when she hit her head hard on the floor when she passed out. What we found, however, was that the nerve had already been damaged and for years.

" I pulled up her medical records and the doctors from before have diagnosed her with autism. She has problems connecting with people emotionally, am I right? Does she have anger issues?"

Celestia nodded. " She has a history of easily getting riled up and has caused some problems at the school."

" I see. The damaged nerve controls how severe her emotions are. When it was damaged before it was cut, the signals from her Deep Limbic System to her Prefrontal Cortex was low and so, if she was feeling angry, her anger instantly was transformed to rage. Of course, since there was still a connection to her Deep Limbic System via signal, she eventually would calm down.

" I also found that her left eye has no sight whatsoever. Do you know how that happened? There are vital signs that that eye once was functional," the doctor said.

Principal Celestia shook her head.

The doctor sighed and flipped through some of the papers he had.

" Well, her Temporal Lobes, which is located in the temple right behind her eyes, are in control of memory, language learning, and mood stability. Now because of her left eye being completely at a loss pertaining to sight, her Temporal Lobe behind that particular eye has...malfunctioned. Especially since it's her left lobe, distress in that part of her brain has led to temper issues, aggression, and severe depression. All of which your student has been subject to."

Twilight stood frozen in the doorway. This was bad. Sunset was autistic? She had damage in her brain? And here was Celestia's other self standing there taking it like nothing phased her. Like nothing phased her one bit.

Everything changed in just that one moment. The whole Sunset is evil story became a lie to Twilight. If Celestia's other self could stand there as if everything she just heard was nothing bad and traumatizing, then the Celestia she knew couldn't be any different. She had no heart.

The doctor cleared his throat and patted Principal Celestia on the shoulder. " I'm so very sorry. Your student here will have to have a psychiatrist at the school and visit them every day. She'll also have to take medicine twice a day for her condition. A miracle will have to happen in order to help her. I'm afraid your student won't be the same as she had been..."

He squeezed her shoulder and walked away. Principal Celestia stood there for a while before turning toward the door. Twilight dove back to her chair and pretended to sleep. The woman opened the door and looked in on them.

Celestia just stood there for a minute before turning away and leaving.

Twilight stared at where she had stood. If only she had known Sunset Shimmer would be hurt.

If only she had known Celestia was a monster.

Change in Attitude

Author's Notes:

How do you guys like my new avatar? It's Sunset's r63. Pretty cool, right? I made it myself. :duck:

Anyways, please, not evil, forgive me and read on. I'm so sorry I caused your baby queen princess Sunset Shimmer to be autistic, have Temporal Lobe malfunction, no sight in one eye, have extreme depression, have a terrible life, and feel lonely.

Man! You would think I hate Sunset Shimmer after reading all this! But she is my favorite character in MLP beside Fluttershy, Butterscotch, and all r63s.

Sunset opened her eyes and the smell of lavender met her nose. She thought of Twilight and her cheeks turned red. No way she had feelings. Sunset blinked a few times and mentally reminded herself she was half blind.

Sunset didn't remember going to bed. The last thing she remembered she was in the bathroom. Sunset turned her head toward the window. It was dark out...

Wait.

This was not her room.

This was...

Her eye fell on the drip that stood by the bed. A long tube came from the bag and connected into her arm. She heard the steady beep of a machine and saw the hospital bed she laid in. Sunset observed the cuts on her hand and all the memories of her punching the mirror came back.

Sunset turned her head toward the door the door and there laid Twilight, sleeping soundlessly by her side. Seeing her there had not startled her but left her stunned. This girl was right there as if by magic. Sunset would've yelled for security to get her out of there, but she looked so...so...

Cute.

Sunset couldn't deny it. Twilight looked like a little puppy snoozing peacefully by her side. Her small nose poked out over her crossed arms that she snuggled into. Twilight's ears stuck out from her neat long hair like a cat's. The Chinese bang fell over the girl's face like curtains. All these things Sunset found utterly adorable. And then Twilight snored.

Sunset practically died. Her snore was so cute! It was like kitten mewing gently as it rubbed up against your leg. Sunset's face burned in anger and embarrassment. Her heart rate was hastening. Damn it, Twilight! She was mad at herself and Twilight for being so cuddly-looking. The thoughts that ran through her head only meant one thing.

She was a lesbian who happened to like her enemy.

This only made her get angrier. The pulse machine beeped rapidly and instantly Twilight opened her eyes. The doctor and some nurse came rushing in all worried. They looked pretty tired. Apparently, the machine had a mechanism for detecting increase in pulse.

"Are you alright?" the doctor asked.

Sunset grunted a yes. The nurse checked the machine and her temperature.

"You're just a few degrees above average. I-It's probably just the medicine. It can cause some patients to get high blood pressure," the nurse said and glanced back at the doctor. He stiffly nodded and eyed Sunset oddly.

Sunset frowned. Her perceptiveness, despite the loss of one eye, was still sharp. You remember Twilight's research on her? The thing she found that proved Sunset was very good in psychology? Well, she knew instantly they were trying to 'psych her out' with a lie. She could tell from their facial features and gestures that what was coming from the nurse's mouth was crap.

Twilight watched Sunset's face with secret pleasure and admiration. She could tell that Sunset knew they were lying. The reports she read on her were right. But there was no way Sunset could guess what it was they were hiding. Hiding the fact that she was mentally unstable to a more severe degree.

The doctor and nurse checked a few other things before leaving, all in the mean time, Twilight's violet eyes watching them. When they were gone Twilight yawned and stretched.

" You're awake," she said softly.

" As if I didn't know," Sunset snapped.

It seems the nerve really was severed if she was instantly annoyed with her.

Sunset glared at the girl glared at the girl beside her who just ignored the comment and moved on.

" Are you ok? Nothing is hurting?" Twilight asked.

Sunset gritted her teeth. " If I was in pain, wouldn't I have told the doctor?"

The princess rolled her eyes. " No, I mean your depression?"

The former unicorn had to pause at this. She looked at her hand and said no. But Twilight knew better.

" You're lying."

In rage, Sunset turned to her and yelled," Then why would you ask in the first place if you knew?!"

Twilight's eyes widened and she bit her lip. She glanced back at the door to see if anyone heard. " Shh! This a hospital. You can't just yell."

" I can yell as much as I damn well please. Security!" Sunset roared.

Twilight slapped a hand over her mouth. " Hey, I'm just trying to help!"

A second later Twilight jumped back in surprise. " Ow! You bit me!"

" That's what you get," Sunset said matter of factly.

Twilight looked at her sore finger and whimpered. Her bottom lip stuck out slightly and she covered her finger protectively behind her other hand. Sunset growled as her face reddened. Why was she so cute?!

"What're you here for, anyway? If you were sent by Celestia send a message back through the journal that you're dead meat," the girl mumbled.

Twilight frowned. " I came here on my own. If Celestia knew I was here my crown would be taken."

Sunset frowned back at her. " Right..."

She didn't believe her.

" No really," Twilight urged. She reached into her saddle bag and took out some documents and a book.

" I don't want to see those," Sunset told her.

Twilight raised up the papers . " Look."

The girl in the bed turned away. " Nope."

The papers were moved to the other side so she could see them. But Sunset looked up at the ceiling.

" Oh no! You caught me on my blind side! Oh dear Celelstia, I can't read it," she told her sardonically, her voice as fake as Dora the Explorer on TV.

Twilight sighed in frustration. " Just read it!"

She thrust the papers at her.

" Oh my! I'm momentarily blind in both eyes! Such a tragedy!"

More Dora the Explorer.

Twilight struggled with her for a bit before giving up. She had to go back home anyway. She looked up at the clock.

11pm?!

Oh no...

"I got to go!" Twilight said and she jammed everything back into her bag. She ran out in a hurry. Sunset sighed and shrugged.

" Finally, I can go back to sleep."

But then Twilight peeked back through the doorway. "Sunset Shimmer..?"

"I thought you were gone!" Sunset grumbled angrily.

Twilight smiled. " I think you're a great person."

She disappeared and Sunset's face exploded with color. She thought she was a great person. The machine started beeping rapidly again and the doctor and nurse came back. Before they could step in the room Sunset screamed at them to stay out and they turned right around.

Sunset had no idea why her heart soared around Twilight but me, as the author, I know. Her heart was beating fast because I wrote that it did.

Ok, a real answer.

She fell for Twilight so fast because her life had been without much love. And love was something she was desperate for.

Sunset Shimmer let the words sink in and she sighed.

Great.

Now she wouldn't be able to sleep.

Mission Failed...Or so she thought

* Author's Note: Damn it! This was shorter than I intended it to be! I'm sorry, peeps...*

Twilight rushed back to the portal. She was WAY past the time she could be in that world. She touched the statue's side. It was a solid wall of stone.

" No..."Twilight whispered.

She slid her hands all across the surface hoping for it to still be open.

" No, no, no..."

She pounded her fists into the stone. " This can't be! It can't be closed!"

She backed up and rammed her shoulder into the statue's side. Nothing happened, it just resulted in a sore shoulder. Twilight repeated the shoulder damaging move over and over until she felt her shoulder dislocate. Tears sprung to her eyes as she slid to the ground against the statue.

It wasn't just because she was in pain, it was also because all the things she did, the crimes she committed to make her plan possible, was to be(eventually) exposed. In her plan to make Sunset's life better, she ended up destroying her own. She was, in a way, in the same position as the person she was trying to help.

Twilight stiffly took out her calculations and whipped out a slew of equations on the paper.

A month.

She had to stay stuck there for a month until the portal opened and by then, it wouldn't even be worth it to go back. Her life was done for. She had friends here. They may not be the original friends she had, the ones she shared crazy adventures with, learned valuable lessons with, and had their help to rise to alicornhood, but these versions were perfect replacements...

Everything and everyone were the same. Except maybe Sunset Shimmer. She was the only addition to this world she would now call home.

Twilight got up and went toward the school. The school janitor, who happened to look a lot like Discord*'A Sparkling Sunset' reference. See Ferhog. had left the school doors unlocked. He probably forgot to lock the doors as he left. Twilight made her way inside to the library, the only place that would make her feel at peace.

She rubbed her shoulder and grabbed a pencil. Putting it in her mouth, she prepared herself for the worst. She was going to pop her shoulder into place.

Twilight grabbed hold of the weak arm and counted to three.

One, two, three!

In a fierce and sudden jerk she pulled her arm. Twilight bit hard on the pencil and tears streamed down her face. She dared not yell. Her arm hurt like hell, or in her case, tartartus. Unfortunately, her shoulder was still dislocated.

Another tug should do it. Twilight didn't want to try again though, but she had to.

Twilight got ready and tried again. One, two, three!

Harder than the last, she tugged her arm and screamed. The pencil broke and splintered, cutting her gums and tongue. She spat the pieces of wood and lead out, along with drops of blood and saliva.

Her muscles screamed in agony, the tendrils and tissue stretched and ripped to the extent of extreme disrepair. In her blurry vision of tears she staggered to a seat. Grabbing the box of tissue, she took out a bunch of its content and stuffed her mouth with it to absorb the blood.

After a few horrible moments she was able to breath normally. Twilight felt numb all over. Anything. Just anything. She needed something to ease her pain, or alt least, make her forget it. Glancing across the table, she saw a book wide open. A book was just what she needed. Twilight slid the book to her and closed it.

" If she were the sun and her the moon..."

Interesting.

She opened the book up to the first page and found herself entranced. The story of Red Rose and Blue Belle unfolded in the words before her and made her forget the aching she felt. Two different people coming together and forming a beautiful, passionate bond...something so nice.

Blue Belle seemed to be more of the man in the relationship while Red Rose was the woman. Twilight's eyes took in the words and felt her heart race. Slowly the description of the girl's that the book gave Twilight changed in her mind. Blue Belle's black hair became red with yellow streaks. Her plain clothes became the leather jacket, skirt, and riding boots Twilight knew so well. Red Rose's freckles vanished and her olive skin became a lavender hue. The red hair turned dark purple and the eyes, violet. Before she knew it, Twilight wasn't imagining the story of Red Rose and Blue Belle.

It was the story of Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle.

Reading deep into the night, she didn't waste a single moment with her eyes off the pages. Twilight had unconsciously changed the story to a lovely connection between her and Sunset. A warm sensation ran through her.

Her and Sunset together?

A possibility.

Author's Notes:

Did you know that Blue Belle is a caricature of myself and Red Rose is an over exaggeration of a friend of mine? I do, in fact, wear glasses, have messy buns, love to wear uniforms, and am very serious. I only express myself in writing. And like Blue Belle, I'm somewhat of a nerd and I guess you could say smart. I'm also like Octavia in a way. I play violin at an Arts School.

If it makes you feel better, I'm half Asian.

I also heard rumors that Twilight is an Asian pony. Look at her Chinese bang, smarts, and scholarly position that got her to be a princess. She could be...she could be...

Raging Hellhorse from Tartarus

Author's Notes:

Quick thing before you read!

This chapter takes place after Sunset is released from the hospital and has not taken the medication the doctor prescribed. Keep that in mind as you read so you won't be all like :pinkiegasp:

I know this is a spoiler, but I do not want peeps commenting saying they didn't get why this, this and this happened. Also, stuff gets explained from Instability-Part 2.

Edit: Whoops! It'll be explained in the next chapter. I got tired and decided to publish this too soon.

The Main five and Brian Flash Sentry came to the school and everyone was buzzing with rumors. Did Twilight K.O. Sunset? Was Sunset trying to commit suicide? What the hell was going on? It was more lively there than it had been in half a year. Twilight's friends were scared for her. If any of the rumors were true, she(Twilight) would be chewed alive by Sunset. That is, if she already wasn't.

Sunset Shimmer was released from the hospital that morning and she was hot pissed. She was mentally unstable to a more severe degree than before? From blacking out and hitting her head on the ground?? And the damage was as bad as it was because she was underweight and malnourished, causing the bone tissue in her skull to be softer than most people's?! And because of THAT, the damaged nerve in her Prefrontal Cortex happened to be the one that severed?!?!

A slew of unforgiveable words had erupted from her mouth at the doctors before she had stormed out, smacking the pills he tried to have her take. Curse Celestia! This wasn't the way she wanted things to turn out. Not only was there an event in the past that caused her to get autism and damage that stupid nerve in the first place, and her left eye to be blind, and somehow her Temporal Lobe was jacked, but this?!

No.

NO!

Sunset Shimmer stomped into CHS. She was tired. Very little sleep had been gained from last night. Her pulse machine kept going off while she slept and it had been extremely aggravating. Sunset overheard the rumors and grew to a higher level of rage she had never reached. Her blood boiled and she trembled with every bit of fury that she could possibly muster. They thought Twilight was supreme?! They thought she had been beaten by her enemy?!?!

HELL NO!!!!!!

Sunset searched for Twilight with a deep scowl on her face. Fatigue plagued her badly. She needed sleep. Sunset was never a person who could sleep less than eight hours. And if she slept less than that, her body was utterly exhausted. Forget coffee. Coffee didn't do a damn thing. She was just needed sleep. It was when she passed the library that it dawned on her.

Twilight would be in the library.

The mad girl went into the library and saw Twilight. She was sleeping on top of a book with tissue stuffed n the side of her mouth. Sunset felt her tiredness melt away and she slammed a hand on the table. Twilight sprung up and a trail of drool stretched from her lip to her sleeve.

"S-Sunset Shimmer!" she exclaimed sleepily. The said girl grimaced.

"There are rumors that you beat me to a pulp! Now everyone's laughing at me! You're dead!"

To Twilight she was the Hellhorse(or the devil in Equestria). With eyes as furious as ever and hair like fire, it wasn't too far of a comparison. The scar, the eye, and the cuts that trailed the back of her hand all made her look like a merciless killer. If she had a knife the look would be complete. Twilight gulped.

Sunset rolled up her sleeves and clenched her hands into fists.

Twilight's eyes widened and she backed her chair away. " B-But you know that's not true! Don't just be so rash as to hurt me for the rumors!"

But there was no point. Twilight could see the doctor was for real serious when he said Sunset was mentally unstable.

Sunset gritted her teeth. " You made me look weak! You're just like Celestia! You wound those who you feel are less than you and push them away like trash!"

Sunset swung at her and nearly hit Twilight. The purple girl leaned back too far in her chair and fell back on the floor. The breath was knocked out of her, but she scramble to her feet anyhow. She thought Sunset biting her was bad! Sunset Shimmer on her feet and running was way worse than the one she saw last night in the hospital.

" Sunset, you don't know what you're talking about! Calm down!"

A fatal mistake.

The enraged hellhorse advanced, swinging even more at her. " Calm down?? Calm down?! Don't tell me to calm down?!?! I am Sunset Shimmer, the ruler of this world and you are just some lousy princess that has no power here!!!!"

She kicked the fallen chair and it went clunking toward Twilight, who clumsily dodged it. Twilight ran into the other aisle.

Fatal mistake #2

Sunset could see Twilight through the books and punched them. Hard books shot out on the other side and hit their target. The princess ran down the aisle trying to avoid the flying objects her adversary smacked at her.

" You think you're the best?! Not in this world!! Sunset shouted.

Twilight ran away into the other rows of bookshelves.

"So Princess Twilight of Friendship is going to stop me. She'll reform me. I'm so evil. I'm so bad! I've been a naughty girl!!" Sunset growled from far away.

For the next two minutes, it was completely silent. A deadly silence...The purple girl just cautiously looked around hoping to know where she loomed and at the same time not wanting to know. The silence was deafening. Twilight's ears began to ring from the absence of sound. Where was she?

Three strikes and you're out. The ringing in her ears was not good. She couldn't hear.

Twilight felt a hard kick in the back and she jolted forward. A quick blow across the back of her knees was executed and she fell down. Before she could touch the ground, however, she was yanked up and smacked in the face. Twilight crashed into the shelf and sank to her knees. She was being thrown about like a toy.

Sunset grabbed her hair and pulled it. With a sudden tug, Twilight was slammed into another shelf. She felt her shoulder scream in pain and the girl bit her tongue. She lowered her head and held in her cry.

Her adversary crouched down before her and Twilight waited for the final blow. This was it.

This was the end.

Sudden change of Heart(Unscripted with music)

Author's Notes:

Celestia Hate Group unite! This chapter will definitely cause some ruckus. I swear to you, however, that there will be less drama and more romance. I think the drama and sadness in this fic is overrated now. And here is your quote of the day from Dat_Brony.

Twilight held her breath as she waited for Sunset to deliver the last blow.

" Well, you sure do feel high and mighty, don't you?" Sunset growled. " You've lived a life full of love, happiness, and happy-go-lucky crap. You got everything you wanted. Your parents didn't die when you were young. You got to live with their approving smiles and cherishing voices..."

Sunset sniffed. " Why can't you and Celestia see that life has been hard enough?"

Sunset drew closer and continued more menacingly. " Star student Twilight Sparkle. I used to be a star student. I used to be Celestia's prized pupil, the daughter she never had...until that day."

Her mood changed suddenly and she sighed. Twilight looked up in surprise and watched the girl practically falter. Her tense shoulders slumped down dramatically. Her head dropped down in self pity. The angry expression was erased and there was a look of regret. Result of her mental state it was. Sudden mood swings were bound to come of it.

Sunset looked at her hands. " I was very young then and I had wandered into the lab in the castle. At the time I didn't know much at all about chemicals. I was fooling around when I accidentally knocked over a ton of them. There was this gas in the air, it was invisible but I could tell it was there. The whole room was all stuffy because of it.

" In a panic, I tried to use my magic to clean the mess up. But there was this sudden extreme surge of power that came out of no where. Instantly, I knew it was the gas around me that was causing this power burst. The magic I conjured up was so strong that I had some kind of seizure and blacked out..."

Sunset smirked mockingly at herself.

" It's funny now that I think about it..."

She sighed again and continued solemnly. " It was when I came to that the doctor said the immense power fried the nerve that controlled my emotions, but not completely. There was still a signal coming from it to the rest of my brain, but it was very low. The doctor diagnosed me with autism. The surge apparently spiked my intelligence level up to brilliance, but I was emotionally challenged. After that, Celestia kept me away from others. She cast an invisibility charm around me sometimes when there were a large number of people around...

" She was afraid that with my new genius intelligence, but corrupted mind, I'd hurt others around me. She didn't want me to become a new Nightmare Moon. I was kept in a room down in the castle cellar area. Celestia kept me busy with assignments and books to read to feed my curiosity about the world around me. Back in those early years, she would visit me every night and I would ask when I could come out. It was always 'Not now.' Then, I didn't understand why that was the answer. But now, I understand. Anything dangerous could've happened.

" As I got older the visits became less frequent. The question I had changed to when I'd be princess. 'Not yet' she'd say. I always yelled out that she didn't care about me. That it wasn't right to imprison her foster daughter. And the answer was that it was I who was imprisoning myself. She was protecting me..."

Sunset gritted her teeth. "She was right! This whole time, my whole life she was right! I'm a danger to society! All this time she'd been trying to protect me, but I got in the way. Always mouthing off and going against her will...She never meant this punishment as a harsh one. It was just to keep me from getting hurt and rejected by the other ponies like I always had!!! Celestia didn't do this out of hatred. She just wanted to protect me!"

Tears streamed down her face and sobs hiccupped from her chest. It was all an illusion, this Celestia hated her. Sunset had devised it to keep herself feeling better about herself. But in truth, Celestia cared.

Twilight stared in shock. Everything she thought about Celestia was a lie. The fate wasn't to hurt her but to help her, to save her from the evils of the magical Equestrian world. By transporting her to a place barren of magic, nothing could influence her to be evil. No corrupt kings like Sombra could touch her or nasty queens like Chrysalis. No chaotic beings like Discord or even Nightmare Moon if she were to return. Sunset would be isolated from anything dangerous that would use her for evil. Nothing could influence her...except Sunset herself.

Sunset reeled her head back and screamed," Celestia was right! I imprisoned myself!"

Twilight understood everything now. That day Sunset described was the day she and her friends got her cutie marks. That day changed her life, Sunset's life, and the lives of the Main 5.

Twilight touched Sunset's knee and the girl looked hopelessly into her eyes.

" I'm here to help. I will help make things right between you two. I promise."

Golden words.

They were the hope, salvation, and future to Sunset Shimmer. The crying girl threw her arms around her and cried on Twilight's shoulder. In the end, it was Sunset Shimmer herself who was her own enemy. She was battling a war against her own stubbornness to see the truth. It was all a delusion.

Twilight knew right then and there what her new purpose was.

She was to stay and help Sunset Shimmer through this hard time and let the rays of sunlight stretch across her sadness. She had to protect her from the sad times ahead and show her the way to happiness. She had to.

For Sunset Shimmer.

Author's Notes:

I completely cleared out a notebook writing the paper draft. For a while I was in a bit of a doozy trying to find a replacement notebook until alas! One appeared! Sometimes I get paranoid that my brother or sister will read the notebook. You see...

I'm a secret Pegasister.

What I mean by that is I hide the fact that I like MLP from my friends and family. If I ever get discovered, I'll forever be taunted for being a geek. It's bad enough my bro thinks I'm an anime freak just because I like to listen to Sad anime songs on Youtube. Animes have really good sad songs! That's it! I don't watch anime. Except for two, but other than that that's it.

I hope you guys don't think I'm not a real Pegasister for admitting this...

Princess Celestia decided to visit Twilight that morning back in Equestria. She wanted to talk to her about holding the position as Princess. Celestia was quite convinced that her former student was becoming exhausted from all her work.

Celestia spread her wings as she stretched. She climbed into a chariot and the four guardcolts flew off toward Twilight's castle. Celestia rarely ever flied and when she did it was because of an emergency. Aka Laziness...

Twenty minutes later, she got to the castle and was greeted by the sentries standing guard at the gate.

" I am here to meet Princess Twilight," Celestia said.

A guard with a rod gold coat and blue mane stepped forward. " The princess is not here, your majesty."

This guard was who we know to be Brian Flash Sentry.

" Not here? Did she leave this morning?" Celestia asked.

"No, we thought she was with you."

"I thought she was here," the ruler replied.

They stood there stiffly for a moment. Twilight wasn't there or at the Canterlot palace. Where was she? Just then the Main 5 came galloping through the front gates. " Princess Celestia!" they cried.

Celestia bowed. " Hello, girls."

"Is Twilight with you?" Applejack asked. "We didn't expect her to be gone as long as she had."

The ruler shook her head. " I'm sorry but she's not with me or at the castle. I'm looking for her myself."

The Main 5 were surprised.

"She's missing?" Rarity asked.

"I wouldn't say that," Celestia told her. " We haven't thoroughly searched for her. Can I come in?"

They nodded and Celestia followed them into Twilight's castle. They went into Twilight's private study that was connected to her library.

"She might've left a note somewhere," Rainbow Dash." That egghead..."

They looked through her papers. In drawers, in file cabinets, looking through books, searching the friendship journal, everything. But no luck. The note they were looking for was nonexistent. In a huff, Rarity tossed the file she had on the table. Fluttershy glanced at it.

S.S. records and Documents

She opened it and saw a list of dates and years. It was like a journal full of entries. Fluttershy was tempted to close it due to invasion of privacy, but she noticed the date February 21. Under it, however, was not a journal entry, but a slew of chemical formulas. All of them were crossed out and scribbled over as if in frustration. Like Twilight was trying to figure something out. Celestia saw this and narrowed her eyes.

" May I see that please?"

Fluttershy handed over the file and she studied the chemicals written down. It all seemed so familiar to her. Something was strange about the writing. The chemicals...the date...Celestia looked at the other entries and found that everything else was pertaining to Sunset Shimmer.

What?

She reread the entries again. Her eyes had not failed her. They were about Sunset. It suddenly clicked in her head. The date and the chemicals were about that day she wished to forget. The day of Sunset's accident. Celestia frowned. How did Twilight know this? How did she get ahold of any of this information? What was going on?? None of this was making any sense.

As far as Celestia was concerned, Twilight seemed to be trying to replicate the gas that caused her poor foster daughter to become corrupt. She would not allow this. She already blamed herself for Sunset's accident. She did not want a second person getting hurt.

The Main 5 sat on the floor in puzzlement thinking of where Twilight could be. They were too busy thinking to notice Celestia leave. She had to find Twilight. Taking the file with her, she went out and set off back home. She needed answers. And the first answer she was going to get was how Twilight managed to get Sunset's records and documents.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Sunset slammed her hand across the sleep button. A week had gone by since she and Twilight had come to a consensus and morning dawned on her. The alarm had interrupted her dream. A dream she so desirably wanted to keep dreaming. Sunset groaned and turned over. Just like the death bell that rang and interrupted her during her free period at the library, that damn alarm did the same. Closing her eyes, she kept dreaming.

It was a beautiful evening and she and Twilight stood on the beach. The sky was cast in glorious colors. Reds, yellows, blues, pinks, and yellows. But neither were paying any attention to the sky. They were in each other's arms, staring deeply into the other's eyes.

Twilight looked so perfect. The soft glow of the setting sun on her face, the shining violet eyes, the way her hair fluttered slightly in the breeze...It was perfect. So perfect. She was smiling at Sunset and Sunset couldn't help but melt inside. They were so close to one another. Just an inch away...

Sunset felt her eyelids grow heavy as she leaned forward. Twilight's small lips were only a few centimeters away now, just waiting to be captured by hers. Sunset's bottom lip quivered in anticipation as she came closer...

Closer...

Closer...

Beep! Beep! Beep!

In extreme anger, the sleepy girl sprung up and smashed her fist with such a force the alarm practically shattered.

" SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!"

Great. The alarm ruined her dream. Again. Sunset groaned and slid off her bed. Today was the day she would meet her new psychiatrist. If she were late to meet her, Principal Celestia would come after her. Sunset yawned and stretched as she stumbled to the bathroom. Her dog, Rascal, lazily raised an ear and whimpered. It was a golden retriever she had adopted from Fluttershy. Sunset had also taken in a fuzzy bunny named Carrot, who thank god was not like Angel. Angel never liked her. That bunny was a tyrant and tried to do everything it could to mess up Sunset's relationship with the Main 5. Turns out the bunny didn't have to do anything.

Sunset smacked her lips and peered at herself through the mirror. Her hair was in extreme disarray. Strands of red tangled in strands of yellow, giving her hair a weird ketchup and mustard look. Her eyes were lazy and red from sleep and her lips were chapped. Sunset scratched her arm and found herself to be very ashy as well. Mornings were not her best friend.

Sunset turned on the faucet and let the water pour hot in the basin. She grabbed a wash cloth from the cabinet and tossed it in the water. Rascal came trudging in and Sunset kicked him out. Nope. No dog was going to get in her way of getting ready for school, even if she didn't want to. Sunset got the soap and placed it on the counter as she undressed. Casually she began to wash up.

Her mind drifted back to the dream she had. It was like so many other dreams she had had that past week. Ever since Twilight decided to help her to reformation(again), she had been having very interesting dreams like the one she just had. She knew she liked Twilight as a friend, but more than that? The closest she ever got to that was thinking she was cute.

Sunset often found herself in the middle of class daydreaming about Twilight. It was the strangest thing. People around her were convinced Twilight had definitely beat her up that day and began to mill about as though she were just some normal girl. But there were still comments about Sunset's behavior. Sunset overheard this one girl saying that she practically floated through the day as if she were on Cloud Nine. Her? On Cloud Nine? Pfft!

As if.

Sunset rinsed the wash cloth out and turned the water off. She took her toothbrush and brushed her teeth.

Brush 20 times up and 20 times down. That's how you make your smile, not a frown.

Sunset rolled her eyes when this came into her head. Pinkie was always making up some kind of jingle and now she got that stuck in her head.

She went into her room and pulled on the usual orange tanktop and skirt. That's when she realized she needed a larger wardrobe. Carelessly, she grabbed a brush off the table and separated the red and yellow parts of her hair. It took a lot of work. Sunset didn't have a clue as to how Rainbow Dash managed to walk out the house with her multicolored hair all perfect when the girl refused to pick up a damn brush! Within moments, Sunset's hair was in order.

She sighed. Sunset looked at her left eye and frowned some. If she was going to make a good impression with her psychiatrist, she'd have to cover that up. She went into the bathroom and took out some foundation. Sunset never had any use for the makeup because she always was fabulous naturally. But every once in a while, she had to spruce up. Applying foundation over her scar, she practically made it disappear. With a swipe one way and the other it was invisible. That was a technique she learned form Rarity.

It was alright, but she still had to do something about the discoloration. Sunset scavenged through her cabinet before she came across some green contacts. She could hear Applejack saying to her that she should be proud of her green eyes.

You're eyes are one of the things that makes you stand out, Shimmer. Just like my eyes.

Applejack always did disapprove of makeup and things but hey. Sunset carefully raised the green contact to her eye. She tapped it in and blinked a few times. It stung and Sunset swore a little. She had only wore contacts on big nights like the Fall Formal. Looking in the mirror, she realized she did a wonderful job of covering up the scar and eye. She smiled to herself and whispered," Shimmering."

That was her lucky word. Shimmering. It was something she remembered her father used to say all the time to her when she was a young filly.

You're shimmering, my darling.

She sighed as she thought of her parents. They looked so vague and blurry in her memory now...

Sunset shook her head. No. She wouldn't think of them. The girl ran downstairs and grabbed her bag. School was today and she was almost late. Rascal's whine reminded her she needed to walk him around. Damn it. Sunset just grabbed a handful of dog food and sprinkled it into his bowl and then let him out in the backyard. He knew how to get back in. There was a doggy door anyways. She took a carrot out of her fridge and placed it in her sleeping rabbit's cage. She refilled both their water bowls and patted Rascal's head.

Taking her leather jacket with her, she ran out and headed to school. Today was the day she finally did things right. Today was the day.

Therapy Session(Unscripted)

Author's Notes:

Everybody loves Sunset Shimmer! Even Candy!

And lets not forget ketchup and mustard!

I especially posted this for a special somepony named not evil...:raritywink:

Sunset got to the office just as the bell rang. There she saw Twilight, Principal Celestia, and a lady who had too much makeup on her face. Twilight and Celestia were surprised to see what she had done to cover up her scar and discolored eye. It was like she never had it. The lady beside them was tall and youngish. Obviously, she read to many Cover Girl magazines. The lady smiled.

"Why you must be Ms. Sunset Shimmer. I'm Ms. Maybeline, your new psychiatrist."

Maybe it's Maybeline.

Sunset couldn't help but snicker a little. Her name had to be Maybeline. The lady noticed this and chuckled.

"Yes, it's like the makeup company."

Principal Celestia cast a warning glance at her and cleared her throat. "So, Ms. Maybeline. Do you have all the paperwork you need? I could get her school records if you'd like."

The psychiatrist shook her head. " Oh no, I don't like to use those as references. I prefer to get to know my patients firsthand."

Sunset felt a little sick hearing the word patient. It was like saying she was insane. Which she kind of was to a degree, I guess.

Celestia nodded and smiled rather stiffly. "Well, I hope you two will get to know each other well and enjoy one another's company. I'll warn you though. This one's a feisty one."

Mrs. Maybeline nodded and looked to her new patient. She walked out with Twilight and Sunset following.

"Twilight will show you the meeting room!" Principal Celestia called out.

The psychiatrist walked behind the two girls and observed them as they talked.

"Sunset, what happened to..." Twilight pointed to her eye.

"I was trying to not make a bad impression," Sunset whispered.

Twilight shook her head. "You don't need to be artificial about it. It's not the outside that counts, it's what's on the inside."

Twilight poked Sunset's cheek and she blushed. "Ok, I hear you..."

The purple girl smiled understandingly. " I know what you're feeling. I get that way around Flash sometimes. Whenever he comes around, I just instinctively make a point to make myself look better." Her cheeks turned a slight pink as well.

Sunset's heart throbbed painfully. Her smile faltered some. "Y-Yeah, I see..."

Sunset didn't understand the feeling she had in her chest. Why was her heart in pain? She knew Twilight liked Flash. Why was it that it started hurting just now? It's not like she liked Flash anymore. Actually, there were never any feelings for the guy in the first place.

But then Twilight turned to Sunset with a mischievous grin on her face. " You're not...you know, trying to hit on Ms. Maybeline, are you?"

Sunset was taken aback. What?! Was she implying that she wasn't straight?!*Hopefully, to those of you who are considered 'not straight' do not take offense to this. This is just personal inside monologue of Sunset Shimmer*

"What?! No?!" she yelled loudly.

Twilight laughed and covered the angry girl's mouth. She glanced back at the lady, who had stopped to pick up a folder she dropped a bit way's back.

"Shh! You'll get us in trouble!"

Sunset glared at her and Twilight knew what was coming. Before she could do it, Twilight quickly removed her hand. Sunset's teeth were barred and she clicked them together once and smirked. Yeah, that's right. She was going to bite her again.

"Lucky."

Twilight stuck her tongue out at her and Sunset felt her face redden as she smiled. She could never stay mad at that cute face. Twilight was too innocent and nice and perfect for her to get mad at for a long time. The two girls stopped in front of room 217 and waited for Ms. Maybeline to catch up. When she did, she opened the door and inside was a desk, two bean bag lounge chairs, a bookshelf full of books, and a chalkboard.

"Looks pretty good to me," Ms. Maybeline said to herself. "I've been to some schools where there are roaches everywhere!"

Twilight nudged Sunset into the room and waved to her. The girl waved back and smiled. With that, Twilight closed the door and turned to head to class when she saw a few certain somebodies peeking around the corner.

***

Rarity was the first one to come out into the open. There was no point in acting like they hadn't been caught. Twilight waited for them with a frown near the door Sunset Shimmer went into. The Main 5 and Brian Flash Sentry came to her looking guilty. This was the fifth time Twilight had caught them spying on her and Sunset when they were around one another. Through the whole week, she saw them ducking behind trash cans and acting like they weren't looking.

Twilight had become aggravated with them. Not because they were she wanted only her and Sunset to hang out. No, not that. She was aggravated because her friends were spying on them from suspicion pertaining to Sunset Shimmer. Twilight sighed. From the slight blush on Flash's face, she was pretty sure he heard that comment she just said earlier.

"Girls, why are you so intent on spying? Can't you just be friends with her?"

"I just don't trust her, Twi!" Applejack said outright. "The way she changed from good to evil those what, seven months ago now?, was so unnatural! It was just too sudden. Same with her randomly deciding to be normal a week ago. What's with that?!"

"Yeah!" Rainbow Dash added. "What's going on here? You seem to know. Why don't you tell us?"

Twilight bit her lip. She never told them the reason why Sunset became evil so suddenly. She wanted to, but it just didn't seem right. It just wasn't her place to spout Sunset's personal business. Who goes around saying that their foster mother scarred them for life and banished them to another world? No one. Besides, it was up to Sunset to tell them.

"I don't know why she changed..."

It was a lie that the Element of Honesty could not let go by. "You're lying."

Twilight frowned. "Then what do you want me to say?"

"Tell us the truth, Twilight," Rarity said. "We just want to know why she's changed so much. We're not trying to pressure you--"

"Uh, yeah we are," Pinkamena said flatly. She obviously didn't want to play games.

Rarity cleared her throat. "S-So we are. We are trying to, uh, pressure you into telling us. Just say it, Twilight. We just want to know."

The princess stood in front of her friends indecisively. Should she tell them? Or should she not? Sweat ran down her forehead as she tried to decide. This was hard. It was like choosing one friend over the other. Only this was quite different. It was a choice between a corrupted girl and a good, happy group of friends. The obvious choice would be the group of friends. But she promised Sunset she'd stick by her side. But her friends really want to know what's up...

Brian Flash Sentry placed a hand on her shoulder. "I give up. You can stay around Sunset all you want, but just know that your friends, your real friends, had counted on you to make the right decision. And if this is right, we won't stop you."

He turned and the others followed him.

"I'll be watching," Rainbow Dash told her. "Miss Sunshine will be Miss Sundown if she so much as touch a hair on your head."

Applejack nodded in agreement. She was pissed and Twilight could see it in her eyes. The others silently followed. Fluttershy turned around for a brief second before continuing on with the others.

Twilight stood alone in the hall. Damn it.

Damn it.

***

Sunset and Ms. Maybeline talked casually about life and things. The icebreaker broke the ice in no time. They were enjoying themselves as they talked about stuff. For a psychiatrist, Ms. Maybeline was pretty chill.

"So, do you have any other friends beside Twilight?" she asked.

Sunset hesitated. And automatically Ms. Maybeline knew she hit a wall. Sunset could sense her awareness as well. I mean, Sunset majored in psychology back in Equestria. It was pretty ironic that she needed a psychiatrist.*See Sunset Shimmer is bae!!!*

"No." No point in lying.

"Did you ever have friends beside Twilight before?" Ms. Maybeline asked.

Sunset sighed and nodded. " Yes. I had five other friends. They were, in truth, my very first friends that I had ever had..."

And from there, she began to talk of their good times. Like when Rarity did Applejack's makeup, or when Rainbow Dash won the MVP award for being the greatest soccer player the Wondercolts ever had, or even when Fluttershy invited them to the Animal Shelter and everyone ended up walking out of there with a pet or two.

She described Fluttershy's quiet manner and love for animals. How she was shy and had a lovely singing voice. How Fluttershy could come from being the timid one to being an extreme boss and blow everyone away with her extensive amount of courage and ability to stand up against those that underestimated her.

Sunset got to talking about Applejack's hard working attitude. The girl always took work seriously and got it done as soon as it needed to be. The cowgirl's accent as what made her stand out and Sunset liked that. She wasn't like the rest of them. No one was like the other really. But Applejack was the most noticeable one out of them all and was proud of her family and upbringing, no matter what anyone said.

Rainbow Dash was a speedster; she was as reliable as Applejack was when it came to getting things done. Most of the time. With a need for exercise, she was the busiest of them all. Always out on the field taking a shot at the goal and landing the ball square in the middle of the net. Sunset had challenged her once in a game of soccer best 2:3. Of course, she lost. No one could beat Rainbow when it came to running around with a white and black ball in front of her.

And then it came down to Pinkie. Man, did she drive her crazy! That girl was always doing something. Sunset swore Pinkie has ADHD, but no! That's just her! Sunset remembered the very first party she went to. The 'Sunset Shimmer isn't evil anymore and now is our best friend' party. She was wiped out thirty minutes into the thing.

And Rarity. That girl was constantly spinning out new dresses and designs. Rarity was always jealous of how manageable Sunset's hair was. It was so fabulous with just a few strokes of a brush. Every weekend, Rarity had called over her and Fluttershy to try on her newest fashion line. Absolutely stunning is all she knew her work to be.

By the time Sunset finished telling Ms. Maybeline about them, the bell had rang and the session was over.

Ms. Maybeline leaned over and shook her hand. "I thank you for coming to therapy! I hope to see you on Monday!"

Sunset smiled and left feeling happy and sad at the same time. Bittersweet it was.

Bittersweet.

The fight that never happened(Unscripted)

Author's Notes:

WARNING: Colorful language...:twilightoops:

Sunset Shimmer was walking out of the school casually along with everyone else when she was stopped by Trixie. Trixie stood by with her cronies, Snips and Snails. To Sunset it was dumb. Snips and Snails are always being somebodies cronies. They used to be hers. Trixie sneered at her and posed dramatically.

"Sunset Shimmer, I challenge you to a duel!"

Everyone around them stopped and looked with interest. But Sunset just stood there blinking. A duel? What is this, Equestria?

"Uhh..." is all Sunset Shimmer could say.

"I challenge your position as queen of CHS! If you lose, I get to be the best!" Trixie continued.

This was stupid. Her old self might've went along with it all cocky and certain she'd win, but now...What the hell was she doing? Sunset cleared her throat. With everyone staring she was getting uncomfortable.

Trixie frowned and put her hands on her hips. "Come on little Miss Sunshine. Surely you wouldn't turn down this challenge. Because if you do, I win by default."

"That's not how that works," Sunset said. "If I turn it down, nothing happens."

Trixie glared at her. "So what? I make the rules."

Now Sunset was getting aggravated. It takes very little to get on her nerves. Before she knew it her mouth was open and she shot back with a nasty retort.

"Last time I checked, I was the one in charge!"

Sunset covered her mouth in surprise. Oops. Whether she liked it or not, she got herself involved in this petty thing.

Trixie smirked. "Now that's more like it! Over the last week you've been acting like such a good girl that I even contemplated taking over your seat as queen. But no. I have to make sure everyone knows I'm the best and the one everyone should bow down to!"

"Oh hell no! You better calm your ass down!" Sunset yelled.

Great. She did it again! Her feisty nature just wouldn't let that slide. She was glad she took her pill that morning or she would've gone ham on this broad.

Trixie stepped back a little and the crowd around them was shocked.

"Yes, people! Here she is, your queen, Sunset Shimmer! And wow is she on fire!" Trixie announced. "But she won't be for long when I extinguish that flame of hers."

Sunset was getting red in the face with anger. Sure, the pill numbs her Prefrontal Cortex so her feelings aren't as off the wall, but that didn't hide her anger.

Trixie pointed to her eye. "Wow, Sunny, I like what you did with your eye. You really improved it! I'm glad I don't have to see that ugly scar and weird eye of yours. I'm pretty sure all of CHS is glad! It really wasn't getting you any points with the boys."

She continued. "And you seem healthier, too! You used to look kind of withered when you lost weight. You don't look so good trying to fit in size 8 girls', Sunny. I'm just letting you know. A full body suits you better and it makes you look younger, too. I would've told you before but you were being a total bitch so I let it slide..."

Sunset was boiling up. Her face was red and her hands were balled up. She shook with so much anger...

Trixie kept talking. She wanted her to get mad.

" Oh, and about last week. When we saw you being carted off to the hospital, I was pretty shocked. Sunset Shimmer? The Sunset Shimmer had been hurt?? And then I saw Twilight hop in the ambulance! Oh my god! Of course, rumors were buzzing around the school. The one about Twilight beating you up? Spread by yours truly.

"It seems the most believable. I mean, the last time you were queen, she practically blast you with a laser! Oh wait! SHE DID!!!!!"

Trixie slapped her knee and laughed. " And when you came back to school...I saw you were pissed. I saw you go and find Twilight. But then she came out pretty ok! Like, what the hell was up with that? Weren't you mad? And then after that, you're walking around like a good girl! You must've lost big time in that library!"

Trixie tapped her chin. "You know, why am I challenging you when it was Twilight who one-upped your ass? I should challenge her! She'd make any easy opponent. With all that friendship is magic bullshit and everyone's buddy buddy, I could slam her down just like that!"

Trixie snapped her fingers.

"Oh! And I could do more! I could destroy her friends, too! Make her see that friendship isn't all that--"

"DON'T YOU DARE GET THEM INVOLVED!!!!!!!!" Sunset yelled.

Trixie was surprised. "What does it matter to you? They dropped your ass after you went psycho. Twilight's going to get it--"

"DON'T TALK ABOUT TWILIGHT THAT WAY! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHO YOU ARE WITH YOUR 'GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE' CRAP! YOU THINK I'M SCARED OF YOU?! COME AT ME, BITCH!!!!! TRY IT AND YOUR SORRY ASS AIN'T GOING TO COME OUT WITHOUT SOME SCARS!!!"

Sunset ran up to her and socked her in the face. A full out brawl happened and there were shouts and screams from the students. Trixie and Sunset tugged at one another's hair, punched, kicked, even spat in the other's eye. The shouts and screams could be heard from the office and Twilight, Principal Celestia, Vice Principal Luna, and the Main 5, and Flash ran out.

The sight shocked Twilight so badly. Sunset had roundhouse kicked Trixie in the gut, but that girl jumped up like nothing happened and did some kind of grand slam move on her head. Sunset grabbed Trixie by the shirt and did a judo takedown. She flung her over her shoulder and slammed her on the ground. But again, Trixie wasn't visibly affected. Her legs sprung out like springs and kicked Sunset back onto the ground.

Twilight couldn't just stand there. "Stop fighting!"

No one could hear her over the yelling and shouting.

"Stop fighting!!!"

Applejack touched her shoulder and stared at her. They knew it. Sunset was not as good as she seemed to be. "Just stop."

"No! Stop fighting, you two!!!!!" Twilight cried.

Rainbow Dash turned Twilight around. "It's not going to work. You should've listened to us!"

"No! Sunset's not a bad person! You have to see that!" Twilight told her.

"You're calling this good?! Sunset's not a good person, Twilight!" Flash shouted. "I told you to leave the problem alone! I told you it would get worse! And here it is!!!!"

Twilight's eyes teared up and she kept calling out to the fighters to stop.

"IT WON'T WORK!!!!!!" Rarity yelled.

And then it happened. It was so sudden, so shocking. Twilight teleported from the stairs to in the middle of the fight and everything went in slow motion. Twilight saw the two girls looking bloodthirsty before her slowly reeling back for a good punch.

"No. This never happened...this never happened..." Twilight whispered angrily.

The power in her surged. She could feel it course through her veins.

"This never happened!"

Her eyes glowed white and magic swirled around them furiously.

"THIS NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!!"

In a sudden explosion of power, everything rushed backward in a blur. The punches were never made, and Twilight watched in shock as the blows Trixie and Sunset had made were taken back. The kangaroo kick Trixie had done to Sunset that made her fall to the ground went in reverse. Sunset flung Trixie back behind her judo style onto her feet. The roundhouse kick went backward as well. Everything was going back in time.

The students moonwalked into the school and the petty argument Trixie started went back to the very beginning. Sunset went back into the school the wrong way around and time suddenly stopped. Time had gone backward.

Twilight stood where she was stunned. What. The. Hell.

Out of no where, time started again and Sunset was casually walking out the school like nothing happened. Trixie and her cronies moved to stop her when Sunset noticed Twilight.

"Twilight!" she called and smiled happily.

She ran past Trixie toward the said girl. Trixie stood there dumbly for a second before scowling and stalking off with Snip and Snails behind her.

Twilight was still recovering from shock when she saw the happy Sunset running to her. Instantly the surprise of it all went away and she grinned. The gorgeous girl looked as radiant as ever, more so than Rarity could ever be. Her heart pounded quickly as she watched her. The sun bounced off her red and yellow hair, making her shine. The green eyes she found beautiful glowed warmly. Twilight's face blushed pink as she was joined by her friend.

"Hey, Twilight..."Sunset said. "I was wondering, um, if you'd like to, uh..."

Sunset twirled a lock of hair subconsciously as she tried to find her words, a red hue coming across her cheeks.

"Would you like to...come over for the weekend? T-That's if you don't mind..." she said.

Twilight smiled happily as her eyes widened. "I'd love to!"

Sunset sighed in relief and smiled back. Together, the two girls walked to Sunset's house cheerfully. Twilight had no idea how she turned back time, but she did know that she liked this way things were going a lot better. Whether she was aware of it or not or ever would know this, her friendship with Sunset was growing. It was growing to something more than friendship.

How she had reversed time was purely because she believed.

Twilight believed in Sunset becoming a better person with all her heart.

Sunset had given her power, despite the fact she was powerless. Friendship is magic.

Don't you forget it.

Memoirs of the past(Unscripted)

Author's Notes:

So, the last chapter was pretty violent. not evil told me she and a friend enjoyed it a lot. That's a pretty good compliment because with all the profanity and fighting, I've never written anything so crazy. I mean, cursing and fighting aren't good, don't misunderstand me. It was just my first time making a fight scene. That's why it's rated teen, kids.

Dang it! Last night, my laptop was acting like a piece of garbage and wouldn't let me publish this chapter or save my work. I had to do this all over again...

Sunset took out her keys and made her way up the steps to her front door. Twilight stood by the base of the steps and her mind drifted to the fight she somehow reversed. How did she do that? The only explanation would be magic, but wouldn't she have to get her friends to use their powers as well? I mean, the last two times she was there, that's how the magic worked.

Remembering Sunset do that amazing roundhouse kick and judo move made Twilight admire her more, despite the fact that it was violent. She didn't blame her for beating up Trixie. Sometimes, she could be a real donkey and deserved to be punched. It stung her, however, when Trixie grand slammed Sunset in the head. It was like a basketball player jumping up to slam the ball in the hoop. And that kangaroo kick! Right in the chest! Twilight cringed and bit her lip.

Especially since Sunset wasn't flat chested...That must've hurt a hell of a lot! It was another thing if Trixie had done it to her or any of the Main 5. None of them really had much there. Applejack wouldn't even be affected. Twilight was pretty sure. If she could buck trees hard enough to make the whole thing shake and give up their apples in Equestria, then she was sure nothing would've happened.

Twilight was too busy thinking about the nonexistent event that she was startled when Sunset let out a cry and was ambushed by a dog. Twilight jumped back and screamed. Sunset laughed however and wrestled the huge golden retriever.

"Hey, Rascal!"

Twilight watched Sunset as she playfully put it in a headlock. It was apparent she got a lot of practice play fighting with the dog. No wonder she was a good fighter.

Sunset glanced at the scared girl and chuckled. "Don't be scared, Twilight. It's just Rascal, my dog."

Twilight looked at Rascal uncomfortably. That thing was bigger than Spike by 20 times. When Sunset stood up to brush her skirt, she saw the dog was a third of her height. Uh, no. Twilight smiled weakly.

"Nice dog..."

Rascal barked and she shrieked. Sunset laughed. "Come on, Sparkle! He won't bite."

The dog went up to her and sniffed. It wagged its tail and licked her. Twilight grimaced. "Ew..."

Sunset shrugged. Apparently, Twilight wasn't a dog person. "I'll make sure he doesn't go near you often then."

Sunset led Twilight into her house and Rascal followed. Twilight scanned the front room. The front room she walked into had a black leather couch leaning against a cream colored wall. There was a mahogany coffee table in front of the couch facing toward a large TV. The floor was polished and wooden. A lamp stood in the corner of the room next to a large cage. Inside the cage was a bunny, who stumbled over an empty bowl that had previously been filled with water. The room was very clean for a 17 year old to be living there.

"Welcome to my place. I hope you like it," Sunset said. She removed her leather jacket and placed it on the arm of the couch. "I'll be upstairs changing. Feel free to explore."

With that, Sunset went upstairs. Twilight went over to the cage of the bunny. The bunny looked at her with small black eyes. It was so cute with its fuzzy fur and button nose. Twilight stuck her finger through the bars and found that the bunny nibbled on her finger. She chuckled.

Twilight walked away from the cage and moved through the doorway in the front room into the dining room. There was a dark wood table with four chairs and a china cabinet standing tall by the wall. From the ceiling hung a chandelier, suspended in the air. This threw Twilight off a bit. A china cabinet? The only people she knew to have china cabinets were older folk. It must've been left behind by the previous owner.

Twilight passed through the room into a second living room attached to an open kitchen. The same black leather couch, mahogany table, and wooden floor was in there. The only difference was that there were shelves in this room and no TV. The shelves were surprisingly barren but of a few things. On one was just a broken locket carelessly placed on it. Twilight picked it up and saw two small pictures of a man and a woman.

The man was handsome with the same red hair and mischievous green eyes as Sunset. His dark orange skin was telltale of often being outdoors. He had a close shaven beard and laugh lines around his eyes. The woman was quite the opposite. She was a pale yellow, like Fluttershy, with dark brown hair. She had blue eyes and delicate features. Under their pictures were names. The man's name was Solar Flare and the woman was August Fall.

These must be Sunset's parents.

Twilight felt a small tug at her heart. Sunset had never gotten to know them well. She compared Sunset's features to her mother and father. Sunset definitely looked like her father, with the red hair and green eyes. She probably would've been a daddy's girl, too. Twilight could see them together enjoying one another's company. Though Sunset looked a lot like her father, she also closely resembled her mother. Sunset's skin tone was closer to hers and so were her features. The small nose, the sharp eyes, the face shape, etc.

All in all, Sunset looked like a female version of her father, but with the same body type and features as her mother. Genetics work in mysterious ways.

Twilight tried to imagine them all together. She could see Solar Flare smiling with pride as he held his daughter close to him along with his wife. August smiled quietly with her cheek pressed against Solar's chest and a hand grasping Sunset's. Sunset Shimmer would be in the middle, as radiant as ever, a product of two people's love for one another. She was their everything. From how she imagined it, Twilight knew they loved their daughter to death and quite literally on that end.

Twilight was glad her parents had been able to raise her. Twilight Velvet and Night Light cared a lot for her and her brother and it was the best thing in the world to be loved. A question popped up in her head.

What if Sunset were raised by her parents?

None of anything would have happened. Sunset wouldn't have been left alone at age five, Celestia wouldn't have adopted her and taken her in as a student for ten years, Sunset wouldn't have escaped, or became evil. There wouldn't have been a gas that she accidently caused that gave Twilight and the girls their cutie marks and Sunset autism...

They would have never met.

This last thing made Twilight frown. Sunset and Twilight would never have met. Meeting Sunset Shimmer had been one of the most life changing things she ever experienced. She learned a lot from everything that happened and became a better person through her. In her own selfish way, Twilight was glad everything had gone the way it did.

Twilight heard footsteps coming down the stairs and she hastily put the locket back on the shelf. Walking into the front room, she saw Sunset wearing a grey shirt and some casual black pants. She was putting on some shoes. When she tied them up she whistled and Rascal came running to her. Sunset looked up and saw Twilight standing in the doorway.

"Hey, could you get Carrot out of his cage? Rascal hasn't had his routine walk this morning and we'll be gone for some time. I don't want to leave Carrot by himself."

Twilight took out the fuzzy bunny. Carrot, so that's his name.

Sunset put a leash on Rascal's collar and opened the front door. She and Twilight walked out and closed the door behind them.

Rarity's eye for detail

Sunset and Twilight walked around the park casually. It was a wonderful Friday afternoon and plenty of people were out that day. Sunset Shimmer listened to Twilight tell her about Equestria and smiled. Twilight described her very first time in Ponyville and how she thought everypony was crazy, how she defeated Nightmare Moon and got the elements, that kind of stuff. Sunset smiled as she heard all her adventures.

Twilight talked the whole time that they walked and Sunset was quiet as the stories unfolded. They were definitely more interesting than any book she read. They walked by a tree and under it happened to be the Main 5 and Flash. The six of them blinked in disbelief.

What?

Rainbow's mouth hung wide open. "This! This! So after the talk we had with her in the hallway, instead of coming to us and becoming our friend again, she goes off with Sunset Shimmer?!"

Just then Sunset laughed at something Twilight said and the princess grinned. Sunset snorted accidentally and Twilight laughed at her.

"Sunset! You snorted!!"

But then Twilight snorted and both of them cracked up.

The sight of them enjoying one another's company made the girls feel uncomfortable. Applejack crossed her arms as she watched the two girls walk away happily. She didn't like this. Sunset had that gleam in her eye...Twilight was in for a fall. She was in too deep...

Rarity, however, saw it differently. With her eye for detail she noticed the rosy blush on Sunset's cheeks and the soft smile she gave. The way the girl looked at Twilight when she wasn't looking caught her off guard. There was something there. It was something very tender and sweet. How Sunset listened to Twilight without getting distracted was surprising.

Sunset always got distracted after long conversations. The only way she would not get distracted was...never. The fact that Twilight had her full attention was amazing in itself. The gleam in her eye that Applejack saw as evil intent wasn't what it seemed to Rarity. It was full of energy; excitement, enchantment, feeling...

Rarity saw it. And she knew.

Her face turned red and she looked away quickly. The others noticed and glanced back at Sunset and Twilight and then back at her.

"What's with the blush?" Flash asked.

Rarity opened her mouth and then closed it. It wasn't definite. It was probably not what she thought. Seeing the aggravated look of Pinkamena and Rainbow Dash only made things harder for her. Should she tell them? Or should she not?

"What's up with you? You got all red and we're looking back and all we see is them two. You got a crush on one 'uh them or something?" Applejack asked.

"N-N-No!!!" Rarity shouted.

"Then what is it?" Fluttershy asked.

The stylish girl opened her mouth and closed it and opened it and closed it and op--

"Tell us already!" Rainbow Dash growled.

"Ok! I think Sunset has f-f-f-f-feelings..." Rarity stuttered.

They leaned closer.

"Alright, feelings..?" Flash repeated.

"Feelings..." Rarity mumbled. She closed her eyes and bit her lip.

Was this even true? If she told them the wrong thing it could make things bad. Rumors could fly through the air and Sunset would be after her neck.

"No, it's nothing..."

Telling them wouldn't do anything but cause some garbage. Just then, the bunny Twilight was holding jumped out of her arms and dashed in front of the dog. Rascal barked and Carrot bolted away in a blur. Rascal was exited and decided to chase the fleeing bunny. Unfortunately for Sunset Shimmer, she was still holding onto the leash and was jerked forward. She was dragged helplessly as she tried to hold the dog back.

Twilight shifted around uselessly. She wanted to help Sunset but her arm was still a bit strained from when she rammed into the side of the statue. Without magic that she could just conjure up at any time, the healing process was unbearably slow.

"Rascal! Sit!!!" Sunset yelled as she attempted to ground her heels into the dirt and tug the golden retriever away from Carrot.

It was no use.

Carrot hopped around Twilight in a tight circle and consequently the dog and girl followed. Sunset sort of crashed into Twilight as the two creatures ran around them. With Sunset still holding onto the leash, the leash wrapped around their legs over and over again until they were completely stuck and no more of the leash could be tied. Rascal was jerked back and Carrot was free. The scared bunny dashed to Fluttershy, recognizing its former owner.

The Main 5 stared at the two girls before them tied up and shocked. Twilight was too much in shock to comprehend what happened. Sunset, however, had a face as red as a rose. They were only a few centimeters away from touching noses...Only an inch from kissing...Twilight tilted her head up to look at Sunset, who was about two inches taller. It was so weird being this close. She could see the enchanting glint of Sunset's green eyes, the nice flawless skin, her rosy cheeks, and her full lips.

Twilight blushed furiously.

Sunset was very beautiful. VERY beautiful. VERY, VERY, VERY. Her heart raced like crazy as these thoughts came into her head. She had never really thought that way until now. She knew Sunset was drop dead gorgeous pretty, but it never consumed her mind as much as it did at the moment. Being up close and personal was extremely strange in that all your thoughts are immediately focused on the person right in front of you.

Twilight felt the warm air of Sunset breathing on her nose. Despite Twilight's sporadic inhale and exhale, hers was even and calm. She heard her breath in the air they shared and breath out slowly.

It felt like the longest moment in time.

Something was messing around with the leash at their feet. Twilight was tempted to look down and see what it was but then she'd be looking at Sunset's chest...

The leash was loosened and Sunset moved away from Twilight abruptly. Seeing who it was that helped them out of their situation, she grinned.

"Flash!"

The boy smiled back and patted her head. Twilight saw that he was with the Main 5 and instantly glanced at Sunset. Sunset was looking away scolding Rascal. With embarrassment, Twilight made small talk with the girls.

"T-Thanks for that. We might've been stuck for a while there..."

Applejack nodded stiffly. "So you're out with Sunset, I see."

"Yeah..."

Silence.

Rainbow Dash asked awkwardly," Are you coming with us to Rarity's? You have no place to go since it's the weekends. So I guess it's a definite yes."

Twilight twirled a lock of hair and swallowed. " Actually, I'm staying over Sunset's for the weekends..."

"WHAT?!?!?!?!" Pinkamena screamed.

Rarity covered her mouth. They nervously glanced at the other girl, who didn't seem to hear them. She was busy teaching Rascal that when he feels a tug on his collar, that means no.

" At Sunset's? You're staying there over the weekends?" she hissed.

Twilight sighed. "I know you guys don't think she's a good person but just hear me out. Sunset will be better. I'll help her there."

Applejack shook her head gravelly. "You weren't there when Sunset ruled over CHS again. You have no idea..."

"I've seen her! I know--" Twilight objected.

"No, you haven't. What you did know about her was what we told you. What you saw was her having a breakdown in the bathroom before she decided to be chill. We heard it from Celestia. She wanted us to keep an eye on her just in case because she's worried about her safety and everyone else's," Flash told her.

Twilight was quiet. The scared looks her friends had in their eyes frightened her. She never saw anyone so afraid...Her friends also saw that they couldn't change her mind about spending the weekend at Rarity's instead.

"Just...Be safe. Is there anyway you can contact us?" Rarity asked.

Twilight looked at the saddlebag she had brought with her. She took sheets of paper. "This, is paper from my Friendship Journal. I specifically enchanted it so that Sunset and I could write to each other on these pages and they would show up on the other person's paper, and not in our Friendship Journals. But I guess this could be used in cases of emergency..."

She handed a page to each of them. The pages were enchanted that way so's anypony back in Equestria deciding to read her Friendship Journal couldn't see the messages Sunset or Twilight wrote and report it to Celestia. If that were to happen, Twilight would be found out immediately.

The girls nodded and wished her good luck.

After that, it was an odd walk back to Sunset's.

Author's Notes:

Ah, what?! What is this?! I got two more likes...and then two more dislikes?! Dang it! What did I do wrong??:fluttercry:

Ok, so Ferhog, the brony this story is dedicated to, had made some good remarks about the story. The Mane 5 in the chapter, The fight that never happened, did seem unrealistically cruel. Why did they seem this way? It was to add drama to an already crazy chapter, and it was the fact that they couldn't believe that Twilight still believed in Sunset Shimmer being a better person when there are clearly LOTS of things wrong with her.

If you look back at the episode where Fluttershy reforms Discord after being released from his stone imprisonment(I don't remember the episode name. Sorry!), she believed that Discord could be good and her point was proven. If Fluttershy doesn't even agree that Sunset Shimmer can be reformed a second time, then there's something seriously wrong with Twilight not seeing that.

BUT!!! Before you go all ham on me saying I made a terrible mistake in the story, you ALSO have to consider what you read in the chapters Sunset Shimmer is bae!!!, Mission failed...or so she thought, and Sudden change of heart. These three chapters are all examples of Twilight's growing feelings for Sunset Shimmer. Because there are feelings there, her view of Sunset is obscured compared to a level headed person outside of the situation looking in on it. Twilight sees Sunset to be better than most people, while the Main 5 do not. And also keep in mind that the Main 5 Twilight is interacting with isn't the group she knew originally. She only knows the human versions from the two other times. They only went through two ordeals together compared to the MANY adventures that the pony gang went through.

Therefore, a strained relationship forms.

I was going to put out a blog on it, but not everyone reads the blogs, I think. So here is the explanation as to why the relationship between the Main 5 and Twilight isn't as happy as it should be. Also, I'll make it a point to further show the strenuous friendship between them in later chapters. That way it makes more sense and I'm not just blowing smoke up your butt.

Princess Twilight Sparkle, Saint of Friendship

Guards gallop the halls of the palace in a rush to find their target. Servants scavenge through any papers and report them to Celestia immediately. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash soar through the sky surveying the ground below them. Applejack and Pinkie Pie ride the train to neighboring towns in a hurry. Rarity serves as a detective and looks for details that not many find obvious.

All that runs through their minds is that they need to find her.

Twilight needs to be found.

It has been a week since Twilight's disappearance had been announced and Equestria was going nuts. Twilight was the savior of her people next to Celestia. She was the Saint of Friendship. Just as her friends are praised as Saints of their elements, she is the one who is praised the most. With someone as 'holy' as her gone, the regular peace was disturbed greatly.

Posters of the princess' face were everywhere and large rewards were issued out to those who found the slightest trace of her. Celestia sat on her throne listening to the stories of the ponies saying that they found evidence of her presence somewhere. Most of them were fake stories. Celestia made sure of the honesty of her subjects by having 'St. Honesty' by her side as she listened to the long drag of stories. No luck had come out of it.

In the end, Celestia knew they weren't any closer to solving the strange disappearance. She found herself thinking of the worst case scenario. That Twilight was dead. Sometimes thoughts of her former student being trapped in a cell starving and suffering plagued her mind. It got so bad that Luna had to make her fall asleep and she soothed her mind by entering her dreams and letting happy things enter her head.

It never worked.

When she woke up harsh reality stabbed through her like a knife.

Celestia was reading the files she was given by servants from Twilight's private study. None of it made much sense. How did she obtain her schedule? What did the circled date mean on Twilight's schedule? Why did Twilight try to recreate the gas that caused Sunset autism? Too many things were going on inside her head.

Celestia took a deep breath and tried to refresh her memory on what happened.

Ok, so the first thing she noticed was Twilight's behavior. Twilight was acting strangely and Celestia thought it was because of her being overwhelmed by her duties as princess. The next thing she saw noticed off was the schedule. Twilight's schedule had all of Celestia's appointments somehow. She had not asked for the schedule or anything, they were just there.

Next, was the file. It had Sunset Shimmer's records, theorems, observations, life work, and notes. On February 21, Celestia noticed that Twilight had sprawled chemical calculations on it, all crossed out. Celestia made the assumption that Twilight was trying to recreate the terrible fume that ruined her daughter's life.

Slowly things came together.

The circle date on Twilight's schedule was the day before Celestia noticed her student was gone. Twilight was clearly planning something. The nervous attitude of hers, the files, the formulas...

Suddenly a theory came into her head.

Twilight was upset that she couldn't go see Sunset in the other world after her exile and so she decided to snoop around. Getting a hold of Celestia's schedule, she was able to time her spying and got the files. After reading the files, Twilight became hooked on remaking the gas to use as a new thing to experiment and test. However, because it wasn't said what the chemicals were to make the gas, Twilight got frustrated. She got in a bad mood but couldn't tell anyone about it. The circled date was probably the day Twilight aimed for the recreation to be complete.

But Twilight felt it wouldn't be finished...

Celestia thought it over and over again. This seemed to be a very likely explanation for everything but why Twilight disappeared. She wasn't too keen on science, but she knew it had to do something with that field. Twilight probably was in search of a missing chemical or concoction of some kind...

Yes. This had to be it.

Twilight was convinced there was something missing that was vital to her making the gas.

Where would Twilight have gone in search of this item? Celestia had to think very hard on it. She yawned. It was getting to be time she set the sun. Celestia stood up and stretched. She needed a break anyway. She walked out on to her balcony and saw her sister from the watch tower. Luna nodded to her.

"Everything hath gone well thou hope?"

Celestia sighed and shook her head. "I'm afraid not, little sister. I'm still working on it."

Luna nodded again, this time slowly. "Thou see..."

She looked up with purpose.

"It is the time of the setting of the sun. As always, thou shalt proceed."

Celestia bowed her head down slightly and she conjured up the alicorn magic inside her. Seeing the setting sun only made Celestia think one word.

Sunset...

The golden ball of fire lowered it's position in the sky and Luna cast the dark colors of night that combined with the warm shades of day. Making a beautiful sky of red, pinks, oranges, and yellows. The sun Celestia was controlling lowered down before the vast ocean long out in the distance, the Equine Sea. The water glistened with light and waved in calm waves.

Shimmer...

The process of night fall eventually came to an end and Celestia went back into her room. She needed rest. Looking back at the file on the table an idea hit her.

Zecora.

Zecora was the pony anyone went to when it came to potions and herbs. Surely Twilight went to her. Celestia laid down and yawned. She'd go to Zecora's first thing in the morning.

Author's Notes:

The real stuff doesn't happen yet. So calm down!!! Iamawesome suggested I put the Author's Notes at the bottom of the chapters because they can be annoying and some people may skip over them. I appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind. Also, I advise you follow Iamawesome. They give really good advice that could help you improve your writing skills. Ferhog is also someone who gives constructive feedback.

Also, this! Twilight was sure that making the gas would work...All she had to do was fart! That's Celestia's real theory.

Twilight and Sunset sat on the comfy bed in Sunset's room talking. It was late at night and Twilight had changed into an oversized T-shirt Sunset gave her. Sunset was wearing a tank top and some short shorts. Sunset at the moment was teaching Twilight a hand clap game.

"Paddycake, paddycake, baker's man..." she chanted.

Sunset held her hands out for Twilight to clap it. Twilight awkwardly tapped Sunset's palm with her finger, not quite getting it. Sunset smiled.

"No, you have to clap my hand. Like when you give someone a high hoof (or brohoof for those of you who are confused.)

Twilight hesitated before fisting her hand and pressing it against the girl's outstretched hand.

"Like this?" Twilight tilted her head uncertainly.

A chuckle rose from Sunset's chest. She folded her fingers over Twilight's fist and lowered it. Shaking her head, she demonstrated it to her. Sunset extended her fingers out and gently pushed Twilight's in the same way. Then she slapped their hands together lightly.

"Like this."

Twilight's eyes lit up in interest. She looked at it in wonder and a small grin came across her lips. Twilight's love for learning was apparent in her face. Sunset couldn't help but feel elated at the fact that she made Twilight gawk like a child. It was adorable and cute.

Sunset started over again the chant slowly and extended her hands to her friend.

"Paddycake, paddycake, baker's man,

Bake me a cake as fast as you can;

Roll it, pat it, mark it with a T,

Put it in the oven for baby and me."

Twilight was delighted by the whole thing. Even though it was a kid's game, she seemed to enjoy it. Sunset had to sing it a couple of times before Twilight got the hang of it.

"This reminds me of what Cadence and I used to do when I was a filly," Twilight told her in amazement.

Twilight got up and went on the floor. Sunset watched in wonder. What was she about to do? And then it happened.

"Sunshine, sunshine, lady bugs awake,

Clap your hooves and do a little shake!"

Sunset was stunned for a hot second. Twilight had chanted the rhyme and had done the...choreography for it. Twilight waved her behind at Sunset and stuck her tongue out. Sunset burst out laughing in embarrassment, shock, and pure enjoyment. She would never get that out of her head now.

Twilight laughed along with her and blushed. It was pretty silly of her to do it since she was way past that stage of childish pony games and funny dances that seemed cute back then. Sunset laughed so hard that she started crying and her stomach felt like it would explode. She wiped a tear out from the corner of her eye and looked at Twilight gleefully.

" That...was the funniest thing I've ever seen..."

Twilight just smiled goofily. She clambered back on the bed and patted Sunset's back as she calmed down. When she did finally, Sunset laid back in her bed and sighed. A loud yawn escaped her mouth. Twilight scratched her head and stretched. It was pretty late.

"We should go to sleep. I want to have enough energy for tomorrow," Sunset mumbled as she got under the covers.

Twilight slipped down next to Sunset and closed her eyes. Turning out the light, Sunset listened. Soon the kitten-like mew snoring came from Twilight and Sunset smiled. It was just too much for her sometimes, how cute Twilight was. Sometimes she felt like hugging her to death. But, of course, that would only leave her with a dead person...

Sunset turned over and got herself comfortable. Slowly, she closed her eyes and dreamt a dream of cotton candy clouds and gummy bears bouncing around gaily.

***

"You're making the wrong decision."

Sunset was in the school talking to the Main 5 and Brian Flash Sentry.

Applejack glared at her angrily as Rarity cried on her shoulder. " You've gone too far. Hurting your friends just for dominance is not what friendship is about."

Sunset sneered and shrugged. "Always with the preaching, AJ. You should become a pastor. Then, you can preach your 'wisdom' on being truthful and honest to everyone. If they'd even listen."

Applejack opened her mouth but then clamped it shut.

" Don't you dare talk to Applejack like that!" Rainbow Dash yelled.

Sunset turned to see the girl being held back by Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. She was like a bull just struggling to ram into it's victim. A chuckle of pure joy came from Sunset's mouth. Seeing Rainbow this mad, but not being able to act on her anger was too hilarious.

" Look's like Rainbow Crash has a bad attitude. Well, you do seem to be on the wrong end of the rainbow. Sorry, sweetie, but the pot of gold is on the other end."

The girl gritted her teeth and muttered under her breath. Sunset turned and cupped her ear.

"What's that? You're a stupid jockey who's worth nothing? Oh, ok. Thanks for the confirmation."

" You're a real bitch, Sunset Shimmer!!" Rainbow yelled.

Sunset rolled her eyes. "Go look in the mirror."

She turned to leave. "Well, that's all I have to say. You can't stop me. Now that I rule the school again, there's no turning away from the truth. Especially you, AJ."

Sunset was just about to leave when she heard the voice of Pinkie Pie.

"You won't get away with it!"

That was a mistake.

Sunset turned and walked up on her so close, you'd think there was no room to breath.

"Listen, you little animal. I'm the one in charge. You think you can get rid of me? No! If you don't like it, transfer. Get out of CHS because I'm staying until the year I graduate. And by then, I'll have even more control. This puny school isn't anything. Wait until I get my hands on Canterlot, and then Cloudsdale, and Manhatten! Then there won't be any place I don't control."

She leaned back. "You have no where to run actually. But moving away will give you only a year of this desired 'freedom' of yours."

Fluttershy was in tears and shied away. Pinkie's hair deflated and her light complexion darkened. Rarity continued to cry on Applejack's shoulder.

"Y-You can't! Twilight will defeat you!" Rarity said through the tears.

"Oh, she won't. There won't be any news from her. You have no savior. I'll make sure of that..." Sunset said quietly.

She started laughing and once she began laughing, she couldn't stop. Nothing would stop her. She was queen of the world. She was the best of the best. Sunset Shimmer was supreme.

***

Sunset woke up with a start. She was sweating all over and felt sticky. The dream she had had changed from gummy bears and cotton candy to a nightmare. Sunset swallowed and sighed. She wiped her brow and glanced beside her. There was Twilight, burrowed in the warm blankets of her bed. Her soft snore reached her ears and she felt immensely better.

Sunset grabbed the clock and squinted at it. It was still dark so Sunset had to use the moonlight coming through the window to read the time. But the clock was acting up and she had to bang it with the palm of her hand. Ever since she practically smashed it to death earlier that morning, the clock had gone bonkers.

11:03p.m.

That means she had only been asleep for about an hour. Great. Now she knew she couldn't go back to sleep. It was a stupid habit of hers to check the time when she woke up, especially on school nights. When she did that, she always calculated the time she had left before the alarm rang and she would end up laying awake, constantly checking the time.

Sunset got up and stumbled downstairs. She tripped over various things she couldn't see and fumbled around until she came to the kitchen. There, she turned on the light and shielded her eyes. Sunset slumped down over the kitchen sink and turned the water on. She splashed cold water on her face to get rid of the icky, sweaty feeling she had.

This dream she had came to her often at night. It was of the day she broke her friendship with the Main 5. Sunset had always felt terrible about things she said. The things she had done. To have them haunt your dreams was not something she wanted. Sunset turned off the tap and turned around lazily. She beelined to the fridge and opened it.

Inside were some groceries, snacks, milk...Looking to the right she saw what she was looking for. She grabbed it and closed the fridge.

Whipped cream.

She sprayed it on her finger and put the foamy cream in her mouth. Whipped cream always made her feel better. It was a comfort food. She leaned her head on the fridge door and kept her finger in her mouth. She just needed to ease the memories...

"It's just like that night."

Sunset turned around and saw Twilight leaning against the doorframe. Her arms were crossed and her hair was slightly messy. Twilight blew a loose strand from her forehead. Sunset took her finger out of her mouth.

"Twilight..."

The said girl looked around the kitchen. "You remember that night at Pinkie's the last time I was here?"

Sunset nodded slowly.

"I was at the counter writing up a song I knew wouldn't work. I needed time away from all our friends to focus and feel more at ease. Then you came in," Twilight said. She looked to the ceiling in thought.

Sunset listened to her quietly.

"You came in and went into the fridge while we talked. You got out some whipped cream and put some on your finger and tasted it. Just like now. As we talked, Maud came in and scared the crap out of you."

Twilight smiled and chuckled. " That was pretty funny..."

She looked away from the ceiling and squarely at her. "Do you remember what we said that night? The words that made us understand each other? The thing that formed the relationship we have now?"

Sunset nodded. She was curious with how this would turn out. But in Twilight's eyes she saw how serious she was. She truly wanted her to remember.

Sunset looked at her for a long time and they stared at each other.

"Sunset," Twilight whispered." I know you're lonely."

The girl was speechless she just stood there not quite getting it.

"That whipped cream can you have, it's comfort food. Ever since you did all those horrible things the others said you did, you lost them. You lost friends. That whipped cream reminds you of the first time we were all together as friends, doesn't it," Twilight continued.

Sunset looked down at the can she held in her hands. It was true. Every time she put a dollop of it on her tongue, memories of that night and happy times came back to her. The fact that Twilight could tell just by looking, just by remembering, made her realize how vulnerable she looked to others.

She tried to hide her hurt feelings, but they always came out in the end.

" Everyone expects you to solve everything, like you have all the answers...but you feel like in the end you'll let everyone down," Sunset whispered.

She looked up and saw tears in Twilight's eyes. " But you haven't let me down. You haven't let me down, Sunset Shimmer."

Sunset's heart wrenched in her chest as she dropped the can and pulled Twilight into a hug. Tears streaked her face as she held the girl close, inhaling her lavender scent.

"Don't be depressed anymore, Sunset. You still have me," Twilight said. "I'm still here. Still here for you."

Signature jacket

Sunset and Twilight woke up the next morning on the downstairs couch. Sunset was lying on the cushions with her head propped up by a pillow, her arms around Twilight. Twilight's forehead was pressed against Sunset's neck and the other girl's hand rested gently on her head like a mother holding a baby. She had curled up beside Sunset, who protectively held her close.

They sprang up in surprise and embarrassment. Sunset fell back on the floor hard and Twilight stood up on the couch blushing red. They remembered the night before but how they got on the couch was a mystery. Sunset was red in the face as she lied on the floor. She jumped up suddenly and fell back on the floor on her butt. The whole house practically shook. Sunset had gotten up too fast and had gotten dizzy.

"I-I-I don't know what happened!" Twilight stuttered in embarrassment.

She bit her lip and took a step back and stumbled. She fell back on the dog. Rascal yelped. He barked and startled both the girls. Sunset screamed and scrambled backward, ramming her shoulder into the coffee table.

"OW!!!!"

She lifted her head only to get hit on the underside of the table. Twilight, still scared of Rascal got up and ran away. Rascal woofed in excitement and chased her. The princess shot through the kitchen and crashed into the counter. Despite the pain, she clambered onto the thing and tried to stay away from the dog.

Sunset came in and grabbed the golden retriever's collar. "No, boy! Stop!"

But the dog kept barking and pawing at Twilight on the counter. Sunset jerked his collar and Rascal turned and jumped up on Sunset. Sunset crashed on the floor and Twilight zipped on out of there in a hurry. She sped upstairs and Rascal followed. Twilight threw things at him, like books and pillows at it as she ran away into the bedroom.

Sunset came stomping up the stairs pissed at her canine. She dashed to where his barking came from but stubbed her toe on a random book that lay in the middle of the hall.

"Ah, hell!" she cried.

She gritted her teeth and hobbled into the bedroom. It was a mess. The Twilight took shelter in the bed and was whimpering. Rascal was running all around the bed. Sunset was immediately in termination mode. She never allowed Rascal in her room. She jumped up on the bed and snagged her dog's tail.

"You better get your butt out of here!"

Rascal, however, wriggled free and continued to run around. Sunset tirelessly chased him around with bloodthirsty eyes. And when Sunset looks bloodthirsty, you know she needs her medication. Somehow the dog disappeared. The angry girl waited on the bed searching for him. And suddenly, he burst out from under the bed with something in his mouth. And Sunset knew instantly what it was.

It was her signature leather jacket.

Hell just broke loose.

She practically teleported after that dog. In seconds she had him by the neck and ripped it out of his jaws. Her jacket was ripped up and scratched. Marks of where the dog bit into the fabric were everywhere. The smooth black leather was split and ruined. Sunset was in so much shock and anger that she was about to kill Rascal.

The dog whimpered and attempted to run away, but Sunset had a firm grip. Sunset looked down at him with murder in her eyes and raised a fist.

"You're so dead!"

Her arm swooped down so fast, it looked as if it could cut metal.

"Sunset Shimmer!" Twilight yelled.

The girl stopped in mid-motion and looked up at the stairs. The girl was standing there watching in disapproval. She kept her distance, however.

"Don't hit him."

Sunset opened her mouth to argue but no words came out. She looked at her, the dog, and the leather jacket. In frustration, she shook the jacket at her as if verifying her reason to wound the canine. Twilight shook her head. In aggravation she let Rascal go and he bolted through the doggy door outside.

She groaned and slammed the ruined jacket on the floor.

"Go take your medication," Twilight told her.

Sunset stared at her in disbelief. Had she not seen what the dog did to her signature jacket? He ripped it to pieces. And yet she was more worried about medication than her belongings.

"Now," Twilight ordered.

Sunset gritted her teeth and kicked at the clothing item. She stomped into the kitchen and got her pills. Slamming cabinets and banging the bottle down on the counter; you would've thought she was a toddler having a temper tantrum. In a way, she was. Twilight came into the kitchen with the destroyed outer layer jacket and kept her distance as Sunset took her medication. It was weird how she took pills without water.

Sunset grimaced at the terrible taste of the medication and felt the anger leave her almost instantly. The medicine was working to numb her feelings and it worked well. Sunset turned to Twilight with an apologetic expression. Twilight held up a hand.

"No need to say sorry. I know."

Sunset sighed. She glanced at the item in her friend's hand. She groaned.

"Now how am I going to get a new one?"

Twilight placed the jacket on the counter. " You buy a new one."

The frustrated girl shook her head. " I can't. That jacket came magically with me when I first came here through the portal. I know. I looked in all the stores. That was a one of a kind leather jacket. And going to a tailor is too expensive, especially with all the damage."

She slapped a hand on the counter. "Man, I loved that thing!"

Twilight bit her lip. She never really had this problem. Back in Equestria, she didn't have to wear clothes. And when she did, it was for big events, like the Galloping Gala. If her dress ever got a tear in it, she would go to Rarity and she'd fix it no problem. But it was different here. Because the Main 5 and Sunset Shimmer were not friendly and that the jacket was iconic and very obvious who it belonged to, Twilight couldn't just bring the jacket to Rarity to fix.

The only thing they could do was buy one that looked similar to the jacket Sunset Shimmer loved.

Sunset knew exactly what Twilight was thinking. (Ahem! Majored in psychology in her student days in Equestria...)

"I don't want to buy another one," she said flatly.

Twilight frowned. "You're going to have to."

Crossing her arms defiantly she shook her head. "No."

Twilight mimicked her movement. "Yes."

They stared at each other. But Sunset couldn't help but look away. Twilight smiled.

"New jacket it is."

"Damn it," Sunset muttered.

***

An hour later, the two were at the mall looking around. Sunset was wearing a dark blue hoodie with the hood over her head sulking. She looked like an emo teen. Twilight was looking around enthusiastically pointing to clothing stores and dragging the grumpy girl around.

"I don't want to look for a new jacket..." she muttered.

"Remember what I told you last night? Don't be depressed," Twilight told her.

Sunset rolled her eyes but at the same time felt her heart leap. It was wonderful at that time to hear those words spoken to her. Twilight pulled her into a store called Fashion4Lyfe.

"Look around. You'll be more useful than if you mope around," she said.

Sunset grudgingly looked around. She saw leather jackets, but they weren't right. One was too small, one had too many studs on it, another had bunches of tassels everywhere, and the other was sequined out.

None of them were her style.

She groaned. This was dumb.

For the next two hours, they scavenged the whole mall in search of a leather jacket that fit Sunset. But then again, none did. And here's a list of all the jackets she tried on:

1. Nice, but looked too young on her

2. Too biker gang-ish

3. Had a dumb logo on the back saying "I'm too cute"

4. Random white blotches on it that looked like someone splashed paint over it; they asked if it was supposed to be like that. Answer: Yes

5. Crazy metal chains

6. Had nonsensical rips in it

7. Too big

8. It was a man's jacket in the ladies' section

9. A return item

10. Smelt bad

11. Seam was ripped

12. It looked perfect, but it was sewn to a shirt that looked like garbage; Sunset wasn't bout to pay extra for a wack ass shirt.

13. Too expensive

Finally, Twilight and Sunset stood in the mall defeated. Sunset was in a worse mood than before.

"See? I told you there wouldn't be a good replacement..."

Twilight sighed and nodded. "Yeah, you're right."

Sunset's stomach grumbled and she looked in the direction of the food court. "Lets go eat."

They walked toward the café when Twilight saw a store neither of them had went into. Her hopes raised immediately. "I'll be right back."

Sunset turned in surprise as the girl sped off. "Hey, where are you going?"

"Nowhere!" Twilight called back.

The girl rolled her eyes. "Hurry back or I'll order without you!"

***

Twilight stood in front of the store with a smile on her face.

Carousel Beautique.

This was just like back home. This must be where Rarity works. When she stepped inside she was amazed by all the fabulous clothes there. Extravagant colors, designs, and ensembles were everywhere. Twilight slowly made her way to the cashier's counter as she looked at all the clothes. They were definitely like Rarity's designs.

"Twilight!" a delicate voice called.

The said girl turned and saw Rarity at the counter looking surprised to see her.

"Oh, Rarity! I'm glad you're here!" Twilight said.

She rushed up to her and pulled out the leather jacket Sunset had from her saddle bag.

"Rarity, I need your help. Can you fix this?"

The stylish girl blinked in disgust and shock. The clothing before her was the worst thing she ever saw with it's gnarled appearance and rips. Despite its condition, Rarity recognized it as Sunset's right away. She looked up at Twilight and then back at the hideous thing.

"...Darling, this...this, uh, thing is way beyond repair..."

"Oh, but please fix it!" Twilight urged.

Rarity cleared her throat. "B-But you can get it done at a tailor's. I'd be way to busy with school and my job here...Besides, it is pretty much finished."

She pinched the sleeve of it reluctantly and pointed at the damage.

"See? The seam's torn here, the fabric's been ripped there about a good six inches, there are holes there..."

She shrugged. "It's finished, darling."

Twilight knew what the problem was. " It's because it's Sunset's, isn't it."

When she got silence the girl shook her head.

Twilight looked at her sadly and sighed. "...I-I understand...Thanks anyway..."

She took the jacket back and turned to leave. This shocked Rarity. She had never seen Twilight be so dejected and sad before. And it was because of a jacket! Twilight really must be trying to be Sunset's best friend. Feeling very guilty, Rarity called out to her.

"Wait!"

Twilight turned around and looked at her. "Yes?"

Rarity smiled softly. "I'll fix it."

Twilight's eyes went wide with joy and she hugged her friend form over the counter. "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!"

She was smiling from ear to ear. "You don't know how much Sunset loves this jacket! This is such a great help! If there's anything you need, just let me know and I'll help out right away!"

She gave Rarity the clothing and ran out the store. "Bye!"

Rarity waved back and sighed. Looking down at the jacket she wondered what kind of relationship Twilight and Sunset had.

***

Sunset stuffed her mouth with a sub and glanced at the jittery girl across the table from her. "What's gotten you so happy?"

"Nothing," Twilight said too quickly.

Sunset shrugged and continued eating. "I told you I was going to order without you."

"I know."

"You aren't hungry?"

"No."

"You sure? We could share."

"I'm alright."

Sunset examined Twilight's beaming smile and blushed. She hid her face behind the sub and snorted. "Whatever you say..."

She kept eating and all the while Twilight happily sat there glad that she Rarity was there for her despite the rough spot the Main5 were in with Sunset Shimmer.

Rhymes and Riddles

Author's Notes:

I'm sick today, peeps. So I'll be writing up a storm. :pinkiesick:

Regarding music: I'm sorry that I don't have any music for you guys to listen to. I'll try to make it a point to put music on the next one.

Celestia sat with Zecora as they drank herbal tea in the zebra's homestead deep within the Everfree forest. The zebra listened to Celestia's worries as she slowly sipped her delicious brew.

"I see..." she said quietly when Celestia finished. She set her cup down. "However, I'm not sure that's where Twilight may be."

In surprise Celestia tilted her head. "You mean, Twilight had not come by?"

Zecora shook her head. "No, she has not come this way. But there is something that I must say."

Zecora went over to her cauldron and stirred the concoction.

"There is a significant thing that called to me,

as you told your story of tireless grief.

It started with the exile of a pony, yes?

That started the reason your student left?"

Celestia nodded slowly as she processed the rhymes.

The zebra hummed in understanding. She added a few dead leaves and powders to the concoction.

"The clues you have told me point to one conclusion,

but you may not be seeing the solution.

Twilight was upset that Sunset was banned,

she wanted to see her; that being her demand.

You say the portal was unstable,

the whole mirror in sporadic disable.

But yet, you move it to a peculiar spot,

where Twilight often goes without thought."

Celestia thought on this. It was true the mirror was moved to the library from the artifact chamber. She sipped at her tea and listened to the cauldron begin to bubble.

Zecora was mixing the pot and small things of steam floated from the bubbling concoction. She added a small poison joke leaf carefully into the cauldron and a puff of blue gas erupted from it. It slowly made its way to the floor and lingered around their feet. Celestia wasn't a fan of this witchy stuff and shifted in her seat.

Magic came naturally to her and her people. But everything was different in the Everfree forest.

"The files, the schedule, the date.

It points to one thing that I shall not state.

With the portal and hints combined,

you shall see where I think Twilight resides."

Celestia was confused. She was not used to hearing people talk riddles and rhymes to her. And from what she understood, Zecora does not believe her theory is right. She turned to the zebra at the cauldron and sighed.

"I don't quite understand, Zecora."

The zebra smiled.

"Look to the fog.

I will show you things to clear the bog.

Your mind will click,

more or less in an instant."

Taking a green leaf from a jar, Zecora continued.

"Sunset Shimmer was once an enemy,

that is, she was Twilight's adversary.

But the princess showed her the way,

to the happiness that seemed so far away.

With laughter in her heart and goodness to share,

your daughter had wonderful friends to whom she cared.

Trying to make amends she passed through the broken mirror,

only to meet a fate that would make anyone shiver."

Zecora tossed the leaf into the brew and a green fog came rising out of it. It was shaped into Sunset with her friends but it soon changed to her being cast away by Celestia. The princess watched in awe. This was the strangest thing she'd ever seen. She kept her eyes glued to the fog that eventually disappeared.

"Being rejected by the one to whom she was raised,

hatred again filled her heart and set her eyes ablaze."

Another leaf was tossed in and an evil Sunset Shimmer appeared.

Celestia frowned. "I only sent her back to protect her from the evils of this world. It wasn't to punish her. And how do you know if she turned evil?"

Zecora tutted her tongue. "I sense things others cannot, your majesty. Let us move on and do not be hasty."

She cleared her throat and took another leaf from the jar.

"As we both know, Twilight was not too keen,

on the exile she had seen.

Wanting to break the mare away from her trap,

she argued with you on her behalf.

But your decision was final,

and her case was not settled.

You say she vanished around the circled date,

how could she if she could barely fly right and get past the gate?

The only way to go unseen,

by the guards that surveyed her actions without a blink,

she needed to have disappeared completely,

right on the castle floors that were beneath."

Another leaf, another picture. Twilight vanished from sight while the guards looked the other way.

Celestia sighed and shook her head. "She could've just used a teleportation spell."

It was Zecora's turn to sigh and shake her head.

"But you forget,

was not Twilight on a quest?

With sadness about a particular mare,

using magic would not get her there."

The way she emphasized there made Celestia's mind wire. There...Where could Twilight have gone that magic could not get her to her destination? She could have gone anywhere with magic. None of it seemed to make sense...

And then she knew.

"The portal!" she gasped.

The only place Twilight could have gone without teleporting herself was the human world. Using magic wouldn't get her there. She had to pass through the mirror because the mirror was the only passage way.

Celestia stomped a hoof on the ground. "But how?"

"I assume it was calculation,

the portal isn't completely broken," Zecora told her.

"But the portal is sporadic!" Celestia cried.

Zecora tilted her head.

"Everything has a pattern,

even things with a path that's uncertain.

Nothing can be totally random,

or there would be no absolute outcome."

Celestia didn't quite know what she was talking about right there so she ignored it. "Thank you so much, Zecora."

The ruler of Equestria zoomed off in a hurry, leaving the wise zebra satisfied in helping her solve the problem.

Admittance

Author's Notes:

After lunch, Twilight hurriedly takes out a green book and sets it on the table. Sunset was about to get up when she saw the book and promptly sat down.

"Where did you get this?"

Twilight grinned. "It's my personal copy of Supernaturals. Do you find this familiar?"

Twilight watched Sunset open the book up and see the Equestrian language unfold onto the pages. Her eyes scanned it hungrily and she read the words with her good eye. Twilight blushed slightly as she looked at the girl. Sunset was entranced by the book.

"Sunrise Shine wrote it. It's wonderful, isn't it?" Twilight said. "They talk about all different kinds of herbs, medicines, and useful brews to help cure sickness."

Sunset was quiet as she kept looking down at the pages. This book...

"This book...it's...this is..."

She looked up and saw Twilight's eyes looking at her knowingly.

"...You know I wrote this," Sunset mumbled.

Twilight nodded.

The girl held the book close to her chest as she remembered her studies back in Equestria. Those were days of happiness for her. Learning knew things was what she loved. Twilight began to pull out papers and files and talked to her about what she had learned about Sunset before she came to this world.

Sunset watched Twilight's eyes light up as she told her everything. It made Sunset feel important to know that she was amazing to Twilight. Pointing and flipping papers around and being excited, the princess went on about her cutie mark and the book and whatnot. Sunset just smiled dreamily as she went on.

It was just too cute.

Other people looked at them because Twilight was a bit loud. The stories they heard made them shake their heads. She must have a wild imagination. Sunset felt incredibly warm inside. Her heart beat faster than it ever did, the urge to cuddle Twilight and hold her forever was stronger than usual. She felt a confession on the tip of her tongue.

I love you.

I love you oh so much.

Please be mine, Twilight.

Please.

Sunset had to bite down on her tongue to keep herself from saying these words. It was the first time she admitted it to herself, that Twilight was the one for her. Somehow, it made her want Twilight even more.

But no.

She was only a friend. Twilight probably didn't share the same feelings as she did. Beside, who would love a person like her? She was evil once twice. Who would bother even trying to make a relationship work with her? But then again, there was Nightmare Moon. She was evil and then reformed. But, love came naturally. That was Celestia's sister. Of course, Celestia would love her.

And from what Twilight told her about Discord. Fluttershy reformed him and they are great friends. But no! They are only friends! That's not the same thing.

Sunset mentally slapped herself in the face. This was going to be hard keeping her feelings inside.

"Sunset?" Twilight called.

She waved her hand in front of the girl's face. Sunset was not paying attention and looked a bit put out by something. She tapped her shoulder.

"Sunset?"

No response. The girl just kept staring off into space disgruntled. Twilight wasn't quite sure what was going on. But from what she knew Sunset often got distracted during long conversations. She learned that the last time she was there. Twilight poked her cheek with her finger. Her face was surprisingly very warm. Was she sick?

Examining her face, she leaned forward. Twilight immediately regret doing that. Her face blushed as the memory of yesterday's fiasco in the park came back to her. They had been so close and Twilight was thinking the strangest things...

That's when Sunset came to.

She blinked once in surprise before shrieking and falling back out her chair. She landed on the floor and people crowded around her to see if she was ok. It was embarrassing. One moment Sunset was thinking of something and then the next, Twilight was right there.

What was going on? Why was she so close?

The first thing that came to her mind was kiss.

Which made things even worse.

"I'm so sorry, Sunset! I didn't mean to scare you," Twilight told her and helped her up to her feet.

"Y-Yeah..." the girl mumbled. "Come on. Lets go back to my place."

Twilight gladly went ahead and zipped away toward the mall doors. The people surrounding them were making everything strange. It was better to get out than to stay around and have people staring. The two walked out the mall and walked off toward Sunset's home in silence, the awkwardness unavoidable.

Equine River(Unscripted)

Author's Notes:

Let me just say that my mind ran a blank on this.

I can't.

I can't hold back.

You're just too perfect.

It was two weeks later and Sunset laid in bed staring at the ceiling as the light faded into night. Twilight was over at Fluttershy's having a sleepover. Sunset felt her heart beat powerfully. Twilight was just too perfect.

"Twilight. Twilight. Twilight Sparkle," Sunset mumbled.

She slapped herself in the face. How did this happen? How had she fallen for her? Whenever she saw her, she just wanted to kiss her so badly. She wanted to smell the lavender scent of her hair. Hold her tight...

Sunset turned over in her bed and groaned in aggravation. It was just too much. To be so close to the person you love, but be afraid to tell them. Sunset grabbed the pillow beside her and inhaled. It smelt just like Twilight, even with her having been gone a while. Sunset held it tightly. Damn it, she was so nice.

Sometimes, when her medication wore off, Sunset would feel like dying. It was a curse when she thought of her at that time. Perverted thoughts would run through her as she struggled to hurry up and swallow a pill.

She imagined her lips just centimeters away from Twilight's as she pressed the girl against the wall. When the small gap between them was closed, everything else wouldn't matter. The soft touch of Twilight's lips was all she wanted. Sunset's tongue would prod at the girl's mouth asking for permission. Twilight would let her tongue through and Sunset would taste the sweet inside of her mouth.

A moan escaped from Sunset as she thought of it. In anger she punched the pillow she leaned into. No! Stop thinking like that!

But they came anyway.

Sunset's fingers tangled in Twilight's hair as she kissed her. Twilight would moan and Sunset would get more aggressive. Pushing her into the wall with more force, she'd deepen the kiss. The princess would clutch her collar and tug at it with growing enthusiasm. Their beating hearts, their lips, their feelings...

Sunset would pull away to breath. She would stare into the girl's eyes hungry for more. Twilight's eyes stared back at her with the same fire and a smile playing at her lips.

No! Stop!

Sunset flung herself out of bed and paced the room. This was terrible. She needed to tell Twilight her feelings.

I can't.

Agony. It was all agony. The princess was her everything. She needed her more than she could admit. Words were not enough when it came to describing her growing passion for the girl. Sunset needed to get her out of her mind.

Grabbing the blue hoodie she now wore in place of the leather jacket, Sunset went out of the house. It was dark out and the cool air greeted her. Night running. It was something Sunset did when she had bad dreams. Heading off down the street she ran and thought back on everything that had happened that week.

People at CHS were starting to accept her now. Since Twilight had come along and made her calm down, the others began to like her. Even Trixie wasn't being a total bitch. Sunset now had new friends named Octavia, Vinyl, Lyra, and Bon Bon. Every once in a while they would hang out together.

Sunset's mind drifted around to last week. That week, she and her new friends went to the movies. The movie was about these two people who worked as spies to stop an evil scientist from destroying the world. They weren't too interested in it so they had walked out and played the games in the game room.

Lyra had tripped over a cord coming from one of the games into Bon Bon. Sunset, Octavia, and Vinyl laughed. Their faces were so red they looked like tomatoes. The games that were there were a lot more entertaining than the movie they had gone to see. In the end, they were all mad they wasted money on tickets to that crappy film.

They had come across this Dance Machine game and played it for hours trying to beat the high score. Vinyl ended up beating them all when it came to dancing to the music. With her smooth moves and robotic dubstep, she totally iced them out. Bon Bon was second best. She wasn't as good at free styling like Vinyl was but she was still pretty good.

Sunset was in third place. She wasn't used to dancing. She was more of a wallflower than anything but she was a pro compared to Lyra and Octavia. Man, did they suck! Especially Octavia's stiff movements. That day gave Sunset hope to being able to be friends again with the Main 5. If she could have new friends on her own, surely it would improve their opinion of her.

Twilight had been very proud of her for making new friends. She was pleased to see that others were accepting Sunset now.

Jogging down the street, she came across SugarCube Corner. She was tempted to go in. But Pinkie worked there...In the end, she decided to go on past it. It was late anyway.

Sunset ran all the way past the library to the docks. She slowed down and stood on the rickety boards. Glancing out at the vast body of water she sighed. Things were looking up for her. Her eyes scanned the Equine river that separated Canterlot from the next town over. It was nice to feel the breeze on her face.

Something glinted at her in the water. It was shining from deep down. Sunset frowned slightly as she crouched. What was it. The glow was faint but there...

There was a creak and suddenly the beam holding up the dock snapped and splintered.

In shock, Sunset stood up quickly as she felt the boards loosen and slip into the river. She took a step back and the board beneath her snapped. She tried to lift her foot out of the board but the splintered edges kept her foot trapped. Without a moment to register what was happening, Sunset plunged down in the cold river, pulled down by the boards of what once was the dock.

Magical Imbalance-Epilogue

Celestia stood in front of the mirror wondering when the portal would open. It had been two weeks and she had tested it every day. It did not open. Sighing, she walked away. If what Zecora is saying is true, she might not see Twilight for a long time with the mirror acting this way.

But there was something strong coming from the portal, a magical tug of power surging from it. It came out of no where and Celestia could feel it. Something was happening on the other side. What, she did not know.

She put her hoof up to the mirror's surface and suddenly, her hoof went through. She was shocked. The portal was open?? Stepping into the new world, she stared about wide eyed. It was all so new to her. The power she felt was much stronger here.

The power was strange and different. A lot different than any she ever felt...

Whatever it was, it was certain to change everything.

Sunset was motionless as she sank down into the water. Her hood slipped off and she saw her hair fan around her in slow motion. The water swallowed her in...

She felt weightless sinking in the river. Air bubbles bobbed up from her mouth and floated around her like shining crystal balls. The boards of the dock twirled around her like ballerinas and she watched them twist and turn ever so slowly... Everything was calm down in the water. Sunset felt peaceful. Her lungs didn't feel pressured at all as the air escaped from her. It was the strangest thing.

The glowing thing became closer and closer as she let the dock drag her down. Sunset couldn't swim. If she tried things would get worse. The water was so cold. It bit at her fingers, toes, and nose. Yet Sunset was ok.

Her mind was blank.

Time had stopped. Was this how death felt like? Everything slows down and you feel numb as you die? There was no answer to that. The glow of the thing down below brightened as her foot touched the bottom of the river. Sunset looked at it and stared. It was red...a small red shard with a light so bright.

It looked familiar to her. But then it didn't. All thoughts were void in the Equine River. Slowly, she moved her hand to it. It was so alluring...Her finger barely grazed its surface when a blinding light suddenly shot out from the shard.

Sunset moved her head away in shock as the slow moving atmosphere around her instantly became a sea of white.

A huge ray of light beamed up from far away. It illuminated the sky around them in such a way, it was impossible not to notice. Twilight stared at the mystical light as she and the Main 5 stood outside Fluttershy's cottage. Instantly, Twilight knew something was wrong.

She shot off toward the magnificent light with the others trailing behind her.

Applejack held on to her hat as they hurried along to who knows what.

"What in tarnation is going on?!" she yelled.

Twilight gritted her teeth as she ran. "I don't know, but whatever it is, it's unnatural!"

"No kidding! There aren't any crazy beams of light flashing in the sky all the time. And the only times they did was when we kicked butt!" Rainbow Dash cried. She sped up to keep pace with Pinkamena, who was practically the Usain Bolt of that world.

Rarity was way behind them as she ran. She was exhausted and needed to rest. Fluttershy noticed her falling behind and grabbed her hand, pulling her the rest of the way.

By the time they got there, people were already crowded around the river's edge. The light was as strong as ever. It shined up from the water below.

"Oh my Celestia..." Twilight whispered.

She pushed and shoved to the front and nearly fell in. The dock was missing. Shouts and cries from the people around her drowned out her thoughts. What was this light? What was going on? How did this happen?

Without warning, a sudden surge of bright yellow and red light shot up from the water. The people screamed and some ran away in fright.

Rarity grabbed Twilight and pulled her from the edge. In the sky was a sun split in half by waving colors of red and yellow. Twilight squinted and it clicked. Sunset Shimmer was down there.

"Sunset Shimmer!" she cried.

Twilight wrenched free of Rarity's grip and dove into the water. Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkamena, Rarity, and Applejack all reached out to grab her but failed to do so. She was immediately surrounded by cold water. In the blindingly light she looked around for Sunset. But it was too bright to see anything.

Sunset!

Where are you?!

Answer me!!

She swam around desperately, blindly. Where was she? What the hell was going on?

And then, from the corner of her eye, she saw her.

Sunset Shimmer was floating there with her eyes closed, her hair spread out so you could see every strand, every detail. The blue hoodie she wore was inflated with the shifting water and moved lifelessly. It was strange. Twilight couldn't stop staring at the girl. Sunset was holding something with both her hands clasped together. The light glowed through her fingers.

Out of no where, a sliver of the yellow and red light came from the object Sunset held and it snaked around her like a swirl of magic. It wrapped around her waist and legs and radiated power. The beam suddenly shot through Sunset's chest and the girl's eyes opened, revealing them to be glowing white.

Twilight opened her mouth in surprise and air came rushing out from her mouth. In a hurry, she covered her mouth with her hands and watched in horror. She was paralyzed. Not a muscle in her body wanted to move.

The beam going through Sunset's chest strengthened and Sunset's eyes shined more white than before. Without warning, wings ripped out from her back and tore the hoodie she wore. A tail began to form where her legs were. Twilight felt hazy as she watched. She was losing consciousness.

The girl's arms became longer with scales and claws. Sunset's body stretched into a scaly creature.

Twilight had no idea what was going on. She struggled to keep her eyes open. Sunset now became something like a serpent. But Twilight wasn't certain what she was with the wings...

As her vision faded, she saw Sunset's claws open up and in her palm was a small red shard.

A Siren.

Sunset became a Siren.
