"Slash go get Officer Jenny!" Jack commanded as he threw his oldest companion's pokeball, as he rushed the man who was abusing a Cyndaquil whom looked to injured to defend itself.

"You. Useless. Piece. Of. Tras-" the man did not finish his sentence before Jack tackled him to the ground.

"Don't," Jack began to punch the guy letting out every once of rage he had, "ever beat a pokemon like that. They are not just some type of animal." he growled.

The man grabbed Jack's wrist and began to twist it, "What I do to my pokemon is none of your business kid."

Jack used his free hand to grab the pokeball of his only other companion, "Zeta I need some help." he said as he dropped the pokeball just right so it would send the pokemon out of it.

When the pokeball  opened a shiny metang appeared, "Jack what have you done this time?"

"Just get this guy to calm down please."

The man under Jack looked absolutely terrified when he realized that there was a metang about to try and do something to him, but right before Zeta could do anything Officer Jenny and Slash, who is a Grovyle, arrived, "Jack, what is going on here?" she asked.

"Sorry Jenny. I saw him abusing that Cyndaquil and I couldn't stop myself. You know how I am when it comes to pokemon abuse." Jack stood and stepped away from the pokemon abuser.

"Yes Jack I know, but you can't keep doing this." Officer Jenny said as she walked over to the man.

"What would happen if I don't?"

Officer Jenny grabbed the man "Let me bring this guy to the station while you bring that Cyndaquil to the Pokemon Center. Nurse Joy will be told to expect you."

Jack nodded and grabbed the Cyndaquil and ran to the Pokemon Center followed by his two pokemon.

"Come on Feraligatr lets get to the Pokemon Center, so we can retrieve that Cyndaquil once it is healed." a woman wearing dark clothing said after watching the seen on the northern road of Mauville City.

The door to Mauville City's Pokemon Center opened, "Hi and welcome to the Mau-"

"Nurse Joy. This Cyndaquil needs help now." Jack said still running towards Nurse Joy.

"Oh dear."Nurse Joy looked around and spotted one of the Chancey she had at the center, "Chancey get this pokemon to the ICR and start treating its injuries. I'll be there in a second."

"Chancey!" the Chancey saluted and took Cyndaquil from Jack and hurried out the room.

"Now, do you mind telling me why that poor thing is in such a bad condition?" Nurse Joy said with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

"Well Nurse Joy, Cyndaquil is not my pokemon to begin with and if it was we would not be having this conversation right now because I only care about my pokemon's safety and happiness." Jack retorted.

Nurse Joy sighed, "Do you at least know what happened to the poor thing?"

"I only know that I saw its trainer beating it senseless on the way out of town. Officer Jenny already has the trainer in custody so don't worry he won't be touching another pokemon."

"Very well. I will be back when Cyndaquil is stabilized." she turned and went through the same door that Chancey went through.

"Still the same hard headed boy I grew up with I see." a female voice said.

Jack turned towards the front door, "Arya, how have you been?"

"Good, and you Jack?" Arya asked siting in one of the chairs in the lobby.

"Fine. I hope your not here to arrest me for some ridicules crime I did not commit again."

"Come sit down, and I will tell you why I am here." she patted the seat next to hers as she finished speaking.

"First off where is your Feraligatr?"

"Out side with your two pokemon so we could have some privacy."

"OK, I guess I'll sit, but you do realize that we are in the lobby of a Pokemon Center. We will not be getting any privacy." Jack walk over and sat next to Arya. "So why are you here?"

"At first I was here because of that guy you got arrested, buuuuut now I have another objective." Arya gave Jack a mischievous smile.

"And what is that other objective, if I may ask?" Jack is oblivious to Arya's movements as she moved closer to him.

"To do this." before Jack could say anything Arya pulled him into a deep kiss.

The pair failed to notice that Nurse Joy had reentered the room. They did however notice the front doors opening and their pokemon walking in. Jack immediately pulled away from Arya blushing heavily and out of breathe, "Arya! Why in the world did you do that?" Jack almost shouted.

Arya just looked at him with a hurt expression, "I like you Jack. I always have. I just thought that we could be mo...." her voice drifted off as she began to cry.

"Arya, I..I didn't know. I'm sorry, please stop crying." Jack reached out to comfort his child hood friend only to have his hand slapped away.

Arya stood and ran out the Pokemon Center followed by an aggravated looking Feraligatr, "It could have been worse you know."

Jack jumped when he heard the sudden comment, "How? How could it have been any worse? Me and her grew up together. We started our journeys together and we stayed together until she joined the Pokemon Rangers."

"She could have said she never wanted to see you again, but instead she just ran."

"And that means what other than I screwed up?"

"It means that she might come back." Nurse Joy walked over to the video phone booth, "Cyndaquil is doing better by the way, so if you want to go watch over her for the night you can."

Jack stood and went to the room that Cyndaquil was in.

Nurse Joy watched Jack leave the room. She then dialed the number of the local police station. Not long after she dialed the number the call was answered, "This is Officer Jenny speaking what is the problem?"

"Jenny it's me,  Joy. I'm calling about that Cyndaquil's trainer."

"Don't worry Joy I have taken care of him. He is no longer  permitted to be a pokemon trainer."

"Isn't that a little extreme for a single case of pokemon abuse?"

"No, it's not because this is his sixth time being arrested with that charge."

"So what will happen to his pokemon?"

"They will be given to the Pokemon Rangers for rehabilitation."

"What about that Cyndaquil?"

"Yes Cyndaquil will go to them also."

"Can't we give Cyndaquil to the trainer who brought her here?"

"We can but it will cause trouble down the road."

"Send me her pokeball."

"Won't you as-"

Officer Jenny was cut off by Nurse Joy, "I said send me her pokeball. There is something about that trainer who brought her here. I would feel better knowing that she went with someone who would take care of her."

"OK, here," Officer Jenny grabbed a pokeball and put it on the transfer device and sent it to the Pokemon Center, "Just tell him to be careful around Pokemon Rangers."

"I will." Nurse Joy ended the call and grabbed the pokeball. "I hope he is not going to let me down"

The Next Day

"Cyn" the Cyndaquil looked around the room she was lying in.

"I'm glad your alright Cyndaquil. I just wish I could have found you soon so that maybe you wouldn't have been so  beat up." Jack calmly spoke to the small fire type.

The door opened and Nurse Joy walked in, "I talked to Officer Jenny last night, and she gave me this to give to you." Nurse joy held out a pokeball.

Jack looked at her in disbelief, "Is that Cyndaquil's pokeball?"

Nurse Joy nodded, "Yes, it is. I have to warn you that if you take Cyndaquil with you, the Pokemon Rangers will not be happy."

Jack looked at Cyndaquil then back at Nurse Joy, "I understand, and I am ready to take responsibility for this Cyndaquil."

"Thank you for doing this. Now I think she might want a name." the Cyndaquil quickly nods her head.

"Lets see here. Blaze would work if she was male, but it could also work for females." Jack stopped and thought for a second, "How about Amber." the Cyndaquil looked at Jack for a moment before nodding her head, "Welcome to the team Amber." Next Chapter: Chapter 2 Estimated time remaining: 6 Minutes
