It was another on of those days. It was foggy, dark, and just down right depressing. Oh, and it was down pouring rain. I sighed. I was currently on my way to work. I lived about an hours drive from my work; a cook at a diner. The diner wasn't anything special. In fact, it was in horrible condition. The wood was rotting, the stoves barley worked, and the ceiling was leaking. It was also about to go bankrupt.

'I'm bored out of my mind!' I thought.

If only there was some thing to do, something to... listen to. I looked down at my radio and grinned. I turned it on and flew through the stations. There wasn't much on, just a bunch of talk shows. I shrugged and tuned in on one just to fill the silence. I continued driving for a few minutes, the steady roar of the rain against the windshield along with the dull drone of the radio lulling me into a zombie state. I sat upright with a start, blinking my eyes as loud rumbling emanated in front of the car. "What was that?" I murmured. I squinted my eyes, attempting to find the source.

Suddenly, I saw a quick flash of light. I quickly knew what it was. 'Great,' I thought. 'Lighting, my day is going just swimmingly.' I sighed once more. I listened to the talk show person. They said that there was going to be a storm moving into the area. "You don't say," I sneered. "It's not like I'm get poured on or anything." They also said that burritos were half off at the super market. Yum.

I heard the rumbling again only this time it was closer. I Just kept on driving in boredom. I heard the rumbling once more. Now it felt as though it was right on top of me. Suddenly, there was a quick flash of light in front of me, blinding me for a second. I jerked the wheel slightly, realizing my error as the car began to hydroplane on the rain soaked road. Lightning started to zap the ground all around me!

ZAP, ZAP, ZAP

The lightning struck all around me, fear rocketing through me when I heard it impact my car as well. One lightning strike struck the hood, frying the on-board computer, causing the engine to die out while I still veered out of control. My eyes slammed shut while my retina's burned in pain.  I screamed. I tried to hit the brakes but that only made things worse. I flew off the road and started flying towards the trees. "Oh shit!" I yelled before I slammed into the tree, shattering the windshield.

As the world started to fade I swore I could hear a woman say, 'I'm sorry... I'm so sorry.'
