Chapter 1: Intro

The soft, warm flame of the wax candle flickered in the darkness, casting a orange tinted glow on the dark room that which the Princess of the Night had laid down in. Her daily job of raising the beautiful moon was already done as the sun soon set. Afterwards, she had plenty of hours to herself as per usual. Tonight, she entertained herself with a seemingly century-old books detailing odd, mysterious and interesting creatures such as Wendigos, Sirens and the such.

She was already knew most of these horrible abominations, but her mind wondered if the ponies had found out anything new about them. Ever since Nightmare Moon was banished, many creatures rose from the shadows for various reasons but there was one recurring main reason.

  Chaos.

Each of these supernatural creatures sought to cause and bring chaos. There was never a peaceful creature that didn't start havoc or mayhem upon discovery. Most of the time, they caused pandemonium simply because ponies could be compared to small, little insects that ran away in fear of injury.

That was not a nice thing to really say, but it was uncanny how true that said thing was. Hardly any ponies stood up in the face of adversity, they let Princess Celestia deal with it and now, it's just the same with different faces.

Luna sighed as she finished up the book, closing it shut. The book had lasted her a mere hour and a half but not much more. She quietly rose to her hooves and stretched. She approached the large bookshelf and found the place the book was previously in and placed back it was. Just as she did, she noticed something peculiar that she didn't notice before. At the end of the book was a page that was more outwards than the rest, completely poking out of the book.

She questioned how she didn't notice that before, but nevertheless she grabbed the book again and opened it, flipping to the end. The page was stuck to another but was torn from the book itself. She carefully removed the page with her magic and flipped it over. Words were written in an ancient language lost to history. Similar to Ponytian, it was mostly symbols and hieroglyphics but contained some letters resembling Old Equestrian, what Luna herself used to speak.

With a  simple spell, she was able to translate most of it but some words were still a mystery. It spoke about an ancient creature that had existed in the beginning of time. A creature that was inherently evil, but most of the time chose to be benevolent which struck Luna as odd. Apparently, they died out long before the ponies took rule.

At the bottom were runes for a Advanced Summoning Spell, detailing the random summoning of one of those creatures. She put the page down and let her thoughts take control for a moment. She was curious, but she wasn't dumb. This creature could be extremely dangerous and could even threaten Equestria.

But at the same time, it could benevolent and could even be befriended. On one hoof, she was curious. On the other, she was smarter than that. After all, she was a Princess. She groaned loudly and planted her face into her pillow. She sighed once again before she took the paper in hoof and hesitantly began performing the spell. Her horn flared to life, covered in a dark blue aura which began to intensify.

The room began to shake and rumble as she tightened her eyes, but remained calm. In a flash, it ended and the room returned to normal. She let out a breath of relief as she sat there patiently for the creature to arrive. But it never did.

Before she realized, the sun was peeking behind the horizon.

It was a gorgeous morning in Ponville. Many of the town residents had come out to begin their daily activities and such. Applejack had already built her stand and begun selling apples for the townsfolk. As small as the town was, she was always able to rack up plenty of bits from the business. I mean, growing and selling the best apples in Equestria does that.

As she continued selling her items, she noticed Twilight with Spike on her back walking around in the marketplace, seemingly looking down at a piece of paper. It was most likely a grocery list, Applejack thought to herself just as Twilight approached her stand.

"Hey Applejack. How's business today?" Twilight greeted.

"Just great, thanks for asking. What's the list for, Twi'?"

"Well, Pinkie's throwing a party today."

"So, what's today's reason?" Applejack questioned.

"She says somepony's gonna arrive here today, supposedly around noon." Spike added.

"How in Equestria would she- wait, lemme guess-"

"Pinkie Sense." Twilight and Applejack said in unison.

"Yeah. She asked me to get some things for the party. She didn't say who the pony was so that's the weird thing."

"Huh. Hey, isn't it eleven something?"

"It's eleven-thirty two. I checked the clock recently, that's why I'm trying to hurry, I guess."

"Well, I guess ah know why yer here then, huh."

"Yes, you do. I would like buy some Apple Cider."

"Alright, that'll be eight bits then, Princess." Applejack teased.

Twilight placed the bits on the table as Applejack reached underneath the wooden stand and pulled out a jug of warm Apple Cider fresh from the orchard. Applejack took the bits as she passed the jug to Twilight. The ponies both said their "thank you"s to each other as Twilight nodded to Applejack to which she replied the same. Then, the young Princess headed off.

Around noon, Pinkie invited her friends to Sugarcube Corner in the meantime to wait for their guest of honor to arrive. They were getting everything ready, such as snacks, drinks and decorations. Everybody pitched in, but were utterly confused about it. Pinkie usually waited to throw a party for somebody after she meets them but today, she had them literally prep a party.

"So, is Pinkie a bit weird today or what?" Rainbow said to Twilight as she put up a piece of the sign which formed the word "welcome".

"What do you mean, Rainbow?"

"I mean, throwing a party for somebody's who not even here yet? Has she ever done that before?"

"No, she hasn't before. It's a tad weird, but Pinkie is the epitome of weird, you know that."

"Yeah, I know."

Just as they were about to finish up decorating, they heard a startling scream from outside.  They quickly stopped what they were doing and ran outside to the surprise of something they could of never expected. In the market just in front of the store was a tall, bipedal creature of some sorts, hunched over on the ground.

It wore a long-sleeved black shirt and a pair of black pants with some sort of dark gray body armor around it's torso. As he turned around to seemingly check himself, they noticed a long, silver-colored metal device on it's back which had small, metal beams running along the back of it's arms and legs. The creature was dusting itself off before it turned towards them.

"Who are you?" Twilight asked.

"Me? I'm...Mitchell." They gasped as he spoke.

"He's here!" They heard Pinkie yell from inside.
