"Twilight.  Give it up. They are gone," Spike said drawing my attention away from my book.

"How can I give up on my friends," I retorted.

"Twilight.  There are somethings magic can't and isn't supposed to fix," Spike said with a sigh as he left the room.

I shook my head at that and turned my attention back to my book.  It said,

There have been very few beings to master all forms of magic.  Theses beings, be they ponies or other species, are known as the High Magi.   High Magi are quite unique in the fact that they can do things with magic that no other master of magic can.  It has been recorded that there has been five High Magi to ever exist.   However their names, origins, or even their appearance are vague at best.  It is rumored that one High Mage still lives to this day.  The last known High Mage disappeared 300 years before Discord rose to power.

"Can do things with magic that no other master of magic can," I muttered to my self before closing the book and retrieving a parchment and quill.

I quickly wrote a note to Spike and left it on my desk before turning to my window.  To my surprise there was Princess Luna standing on the balcony.  I said to her, "You will not stop me."

"i did not come here to stop you.  I came to give you a warning.  If you are going to do what I believe you are going to do then be prepared for a long and perilous journey," She said before turn towards the night sky, "And good luck.  I will delay my sister as long as possible."

"Thank you Luna," I replied as she took off into the night.

I then turned and blew out my candle on the desk and followed her into the night sky.  I flew east for a little bit before turning south. Towards the Badlands.

2 The Hive.

It took me until a little after sunrise to find a small village just south of Everfree Forest.  I landed and used  a little magic to disguise myself as an earth pony scholar.  I was able to purchase a few necessary supplies and some food before moving unnoticed.  It took me another day to transverse the remaining distance either by flying or by walking.  I had to disguise myself a few times when I passed some locals heading to various destinations.  When I had finally reached the edge of the badlands i decided to make camp as I was exhausted from the all the traveling I had done in the past 24 hours.

I was awoken by the sound of buzzing.  I calmly stood up and spoke to the unseen crowd, "I know you're there.  I have come to talk to your queen."

There was some buzzing and some chattering before a changeling stepped forward into view saying, "What do you wish with our Queen?"

"I just wish to speak to her," I replied.

"Why should we trust you?" The changeling asked.

"Because I could have killed you all by now.  I have a preposition for your queen."

The changeling turned around and appeared to consult with some others before speaking to me once again, "Alright we shall take you to our Queen but you may not like what she has to say."

"I will take my chances," I said boldly.

"Very well," the changeling said before I was struck behind the head and blacked out.

"Get up," I heard as groggily opened my eyes to the new environment.

"GET UP," He repeated with more force.

I managed to get on to my haunches before I looked at my captor.

"The Queen will see you now, Princess," He spat at me.

I quickly got up and followed him through what appeared to a massive cave system.  He lead me through a number of twisting tunnels before we emerged into a giant cavern.  I had trouble keeping up with him as a gawked at the marvel that surrounded me.  I nearly ran into him when he stopped before what appeared to be a door carved out of the very stone that made up the cavern.
