Chapter 1: Pleased to Meet You

Pleased to Meet You

It was such a nice night. Truly, Celestia had outdone herself.

The moon was full, highlighted by the clouds that drifted by and enhanced its beauty. Stars were sprinkled all across the blue plane, brightening the sacred darkness that covered this world. The constant noise that engulfed the day---the chirping birds, the roars and cries of predators, the talk and walk of the ponies nearby--- was silenced, leaving a blissful quiet. It was so rare for me to have time to be myself; so rare for me to have peace and quiet. Even the voices that constantly plagued my mind and sanity--- who yelled and screamed and pleaded in a never ending symphony of noise and rage--- had faded to a faint buzz in the back of my mind. For a brief moment, I was at peace.

So of course, it was interrupted by something annoying. Or, to be more specific, a magical blast to the face. I shifted my head to the left, and let the concentrated magic pass harmlessly over my shoulder, hitting a tree behind me. As if on cue, the voices returned, and continued to wail in my mind, screaming and pleading like always. What little sense of peace I had was gone, and I was left my usual grumpy, angry self. At the moment, the instinct that made up my new body and mind wanted to brutally murder the person who dared bother me in my time of piece. Memories and methods flashed across my mind, showing me all the wonderful ways in which I could break or kill a person, and how enjoyable it would be if I gave the annoying little insect a piece of just what it meant to anger a true vampire...

With effort, I pushed down the urges. Just because I was a monster, didn't mean I had to act like like one. Instead, I opened my eyes and looked at the direction the blast came from. A white, male unicorn with blue hair stood several yards away, covered in armor from head to toe with his glowing horn pointed straight at me. He was breathing hard, blood pumping rapidly, his heart beating at a fast rate. There was a startled look in his eyes, almost as if he was surprised I was still there. That look turned to fear as I stood up, towering above him.

In my old world, I wasn't tall. In fact, I was pretty short all things considered. Coming here had changed more than just my species, and while I was only 4"11 before, I towered above these ponies at a height of 6"10. The person who I was based off of had been pretty tall in his life after all.
