Chapter 5: An Easy-ish Day

Crew woke up on his own this time around, which was for him a very pleasant surprise indeed. Normally, Alice woke him up. When asked, Alice told him a few times that he deserved the extra sleep. After thanking her, he went around his room, trying to find a bathroom to take a shower. His suit had been on him for the past three days, maybe longer, and to make a long story short, he stunk, bad.

He found his room to be quite large, a guard outside explained that it was a room made for dignitaries and visiting royals. While normally he was used to the 'high life' his father provided him, there was a reason why he lived on that island before he crashed, but now he felt like he was given too much. It made him a little sick thinking about it. That's when he found the shower, and decided to wash his worries away (and his nasty stank).

There he stood as the water showered over his head, making his once rat's nest of hair now become long "manjestic" mane. His old friend Eddie had described his hair with those very words at one point, and he'd come to like that term very much. But, he just stood there, feeling the water wash over him, feeling the hot droplets hit him like tiny stingers. His knees felt weak, so he sat down, not bothering to turn the knob back down to start a bath. Once he was sitting, he curled up into the fetal position, taking in deep breaths. He knew this wasn't a dream any longer, there wasn't any doubt now.

"Are you okay Crew?"

He shook his head, getting in a tighter hold of himself while the water continued to pelt him. "What if we can never get back...?"

"Then you'll finally get what you always wanted." Alice said simply. "To live a 'real' life. The one you always wanted."

Alice was right. Ever since he could see, he wanted to live like a normal person. Being rich, he never got to love someone without them wanting him for his money. He never got to go to regular school. The more he thought about it, the more he felt conflicted. "I-...I still don't know Ally."

"Give it some time Crew." She said softly, trying her best to help him relax in all sorts of ways. "I'm sure they're be a way home, you just need to wait. Maybe soon...maybe in a couple months."

Crew didn't reply, Alice knew why. He didn't want to think about these kinds of things. While being in a new world, he could start anew, but he could never see his beautiful island, the sea... Crew started to cry, Alice only gave him the feeling that there was a hand gently rubbing his back, it was all she could offer him.

There was a knock at the door, but he still kept going, still kept crying while she shower washed away his tears. He kept thinking about his island, the bird who flew over him as he ran, the sound of his jet engines running at their full power. He wanted to fly, he wanted to be where the world couldn't touch him, he wanted to touch the clouds, to see the curvature of the earth. Now, he couldn't. His Jet was damaged, he was in deep trouble with the princesses.

*knock, knock* The knocks where heavy. "Go away!" He shouted, sorrow threatening to drown his voice out.

"Crew?" It was Celestia's voice who answered back. "Please, you've been in the shower for two hours."

Two hours? Crew thought. "Just go Celestia! You don't want to see me like this!"

The door cracked open and he covered himself. "Crew?" She took a look at his face, and saw that his eyes were very blood shot. "Oh my! You've been crying!" She rushed in and turned off the water. Then, she placed a towel over his crotch as she looked away from him until she knew from her magic that he was covered.

"Just leave me alone Celestia! I want to be alone."

"Well, you're running the water bill high, and I do need to pay for these kinds of things." She laughed lightly as she moved him back into his room. "Guards told me that they heard someone crying in your room. I came as soon as my meeting was over."

"Well, now you know who was crying, now you can go back to your damned nobles!" He shouted. "Just leave me alone! I want to be alone!"

She wrapped a wing around him and sighed. "I often wanted to be alone Crew, but then I remembered I have a important job to do. While you are here, under my roof, I will be the one who cares and looks after you." She hugged him tightly. "I feel as though there is a double meaning to your words however. Alone I mean."

"Well..." He looked down at his hands. "I am alone, and I want to be alone..."

She sighed, letting her wing fall back to her side. "Would you like to take a walk with me? Walking often helps calm my mind." She smiled kindly at him.

However, he shook his head. "No thank you..."

She bit the bottom of her lip, thinking. "Is it a human thing?"

Alice chose this point to speak. "No, actually, my human is just a lazy ass."

Celestia snorted into a chuckle. "I know quite a few ponies who don't want to walk, but come on Crew. Please?"

"Maybe tomorrow Celestia...I don't feel like it..."

Sighing in defeat she stood up. "Well, you'll still need to walk to breakfast. The Elements of Harmony are leaving back to Ponyville soon after. You're welcome to join them soon enough, but you're still in the red zone." She paused, looking over Crew's words. "And I will take you up on that walk tomorrow Crew. Do not forget."

"Alright! Alright!" He cried. "Just get out so I can get dressed. Don't want you to see me naked." He looked down at himself. "Alright, all naked."

"Why?" Celestia asked. "I'm naked, why can I not see you?"

Once again, Alice spoke. Crew was starting to think Alice knew when to screw up a conversation, or maybe she just wanted to talk more out of spite towards him. "Humans have exposed Penises princess."

Celestia's quickly flushed up as she started to walk out. "Say no more..." She said, trying to cover herself. When she exited the room, a guard asked her if she was alright. No, she found something that made her quite flustered.

A few hours past. Breakfast was boring, nothing actually happened. Everyone said their goodbyes, and Pinkie Pie swore he would get a party as soon as Crew got to Ponyville. Crew thought the name of the town was rather...strange, but he ignored to sooner or later. At least it isn't weird as the Island called Tittycaca back on earth.

Crew however, saw himself smiling when he found a library. All the books one could read, there right in front of him. Alice switched her repair mode to function mode to better allow him to read the books at faster paces. This is where he found the history section. A little history would do anyone some good. He thought to himself as he pulled a large book open on an even larger lectern. The book was thankfully called History of Equus and Equestria. The index showed six thousand pages, and one hundred and three chapters.

He passed the time, smiling as he kept to himself. Often ignoring anyone's advances to make him leave, he didn't want to. He had a book to read, a mood to work on. This is when he closed his eyes, replaying all the information of the first ten chapters he read within six or so hours. He found himself battling creatures of unknown origin, swinging a broadsword in one hand, and a magic spell in the other. The last of the humans, no other, and he laughed as they all ran for cover.

"Mr. Walker?"

Crew snapped out of his own little adventure to see a weird looking pegasus staring at him. He had a moon crest on his chest, his wings were like a bat's and his eyes were like a cat's. Also, two little teeth poked out from his mouth pointing down like a vampire's fangs. A few other nice features is that the stallion was a dull purple with white mane.

"Yes?"

"Oh welcome back. I've been trying to get your attention for the past half-hour."

Crew looked at the page he was on and closed the book, making Alice remember the page later. "What's up?"

"The sky...Look, the princesses wish to speak to you in the royal hall. You know, the one you destroyed with that metal bird you rode in?"

"Oh, did they say why?" He asked.

The stallion shook his name. "No sir. Only that to tell you to come see them as soon as I find you."

"How long has it been since breakfast?" He pointed to the windows and it looked like the sun was about to go down. "ALICE! IT HASN'T BEEN SIX HOURS!" He heard Alice begin to laugh her nanites out.

The guard shrugged simply. "Anyhoof, we should get going. The princesses must be wondering themselves ragged trying to figure out where you are."

"Lead the way my leather winged friend."

"Right..."

The walk to the throne room was, uneventful to say the least. Other than a few guards staring at Crew and the Lunar guard as they passed them with either confusion or horror. Horror mostly directed at Crew. He was tall, walking on two legs and his long nimble fingers they saw earlier holding a knife with ease. Already there were rumors in the castle that he was a demon or some sort of creation of Discord.

The large doors opened to reveal the room in pristine condition. Crew's jaw dropped, and if Alice had one, it was down too. The whole place looked like it hadn't even been destroyed in the first place.

Celestia smiled down along with her younger sister at Crew and the Lunar guard. "Princess  Luna, Celestia, here is the human you asked for." He said with a bow before exiting the room though a door to the left of Luna.

"Ah, Crew. There you are." Celestia smiled down at him, then it was lost.

"Crew, we wish to speak to you about how you managed to enter Equestia. Could you enlighten us?"

He nodded, stepping a little closer to he didn't have to raise his voice. "While on a test flight to make sure my jet's computers were still fully functional, Alice recorded high energy readings close to us. However, while I was trying to get away from what could have harmed my jet, I hit the speed of sound as I was crossing a full rainbow. When I opened my eyes, we were about to crash. Alice told me to lean to the left so my jet's cone wouldn't take the front of the damage."

Celestia nodded. "Which explains the bent wing. Anything else?"

He winced, just thinking that his jet was damaged was eating him up inside. "I don't think so. Oh wait!" He held up his cuffs. "Can you take this off?" In a flash it was gone and he smiled, rubbing his wrist. "Thanks Celestia, you're the greatest."

Luna rolled her eyes. "Because of this development, we have chosen you to aid our top engineers to assist in the repairs of you jet." A smile graced her lips. "Once it is done, you will take first my sister, then I into the skies with it to see if it is dangerous."

"Well, okay, but it wasn't made for combat, just to get off my island and do air shows." He shrugged. "But fine. If you want to go fast, you just have to ask."

Celestia smirked. "May we?"

Crew laughed a little. "Can I say no? Sure you can, but uh....you two might need G-suits."

"G-suits?"

"Yeah, they protect you from harmful G-forces. You got them right?"

The princesses looked rather confused. "Crew, alicorn bodies are very durable. Twilight a few months ago was blown though a couple mountains...by a six story minotour mind you."

Crew grimiced. "Ow....Okay, yeah." Alice?

I'm making a rough judgement here, but that's well over two tons of force right to Twilight Sparkle.

"Two tons?" He asked aloud, the shrugged to the princesses. "Yeah, alright, no G-suits then. But you'll be in for the time of your lives."

"We've yet to have one of those Crew." Celestia said in a serious tone. "As princesses we only have time at the end of the day to relax, or for my sister's case the morning when her time ends."

Crew looked a little confused. "Wait what? Do you two ever sleep?"

"We hardly require sleep. Though, it does wonders for our moods." Luna answered with a soft smile. "I sleep even during the night to enter dreams as one should be asleep to help those who are too."

"This place is so weird..." Crew said under his breath. "So, I was told you needed me for something else? Guy who brought me here only told me you needed me."

"We did now we're done. You may go back to your room now. Or, if you wish, you may take a walk around the castle. For the next week while we find you accommodations down in Ponyville."

"I'm going where the others went? Why?" He asked. "It's not like I hate them, its just I don't know about that. What if there's panic?"

"That's why we're sending you to Ponyville. While Meretropolis, Canterlot, Manehatten, and other large cities will, Ponyville is a town that boarders a forest filled with dangers. They are so used to change, so you going there wouldn't cause them to panic as much. Yes, they might think you're some sort of monster, but if you should stick around long enough-" She smiled widely. "-they might just accept you as one of them."

"They're that accepting?"

"Why wouldn't they be?! With Pinkie Pie there, I'm sure you'll find yourself with the whole town being your friend." Luna laughed. "Are humans not as accepting?"

"If I were a scientist, I would've found ways to see what makes you tick. But I'm not, but humans are shitty."

"You seem to hate your own kind Crew, care to explain?"

"Humans are destructive creatures." He said flatly. "We distort our world, bending everything over out laps like a child being reprimanded. We continue to destroy and build up and wide. Humans are demons of earth." He put his hands up before they could ask him what he meant, they chose to let him go on. "However, there are humans who wish to protect the world, try to slowly turn it back into the pure environment as it was before humans discovered the internal combustion engines. I am one of them, and I'm proud."

Celestia felt a tingle go down her spine. Something had happened there while Crew was talking. There was, maybe just for a fraction of a second, a second shadow behind him, helping him push his words. She looked to her sister, Luna nodded and spoke. "Crew, are humans have the ability to use magic?"

He shook his head. "Many believed  that magic existed on my world. However, none were able to use it, magic was never real."

"Truly? No magic whatsoever?" He nodded, Luna frowned as his answer, but chose not to ask or say anything else.

"Why do you ask?"

Celestia did a quick scan on him once again. This time, like the last, there was no magic to be seen, or was there at all. "We were curious, that is all."

A guard rushed in, panting. "Princess, more Griffins....attacked...Trotenburg."

Celestia pinched her snout with her hooves, sighing. "I'm sorry Crew, I have matters to attend to. Luna, can you go look for Right Word?"

"Isn't he in Trottingham?"

There was a audible smack as she hit her face, Crew winced with Luna. Celestia, irony as it be, was struck with an idea, be it by her own hoof. "Crew Michael Walker, to repay for the damages done to our home and the homes of others, you will become a temporary Equestrian Ambassador."

Luna stared wide eyed at her sister. "You expect him to-" With the eye motion her sister was giving her Luna paused, then nodded. "Yes, actually, you have a point. I too agree."

Crew looked completely dumbfounded. Alice the whole time was trying to figure out what had just happened. She was still trying to figure out equine body language. They both agreed, the next few days were going to be strange.

While walking in the halls of the palace, Crew wanted to find the library once again. Everything in the whole place looked the same, hardly any differences in each hall. He was feeling drained now. Whenever he spoke to the princesses, it was like having a weight on his chest. Like he was speaking to a god that could kill him a fraction of a second. It was slightly frightening.

Then there was Celestia's and Luna's voices. Celestia's sounded like his mom's, while Luna's sounded like his aunt's. He wondered what they would look like if they were humans. Crew sounded like his father, only with a slightly deeper voice that would've made women wet their pants. A girl he liked described his voice as: 'White Morgan Freeman with a little less age.' He laughed a little. Ruby was always so childish, and he remembers watching movies with her when he was a kid. She would always sit next to him, describing the movies for him. If he was a little older, he would've loved her. However, when he reached eighteen, he became a recloose, living on his island alone to escape those who only love him for his money.

His face scrunched up. He HATED money. It ruined his life while making it better. Yes with money he could see, but with money, he could never love another. Crew just hated everything that had to do with money. He told his dad he wanted an island, a jet and boat, a home, and to be left alone. Right after his mother died, he left less often to visit his father. All he ever asked for was to be a normal person, to be left alone, to fit in...

"Crew Walker?" Crew turned to see the same guard as before. He bowed. "I am to assist you with whatever you may require or inquire. My rank and name is Second Lieutenant Light Touch, at your service."

"You can stay at ease Light, I'm not stuck up." He smiled. "But thanks. I'd like some help getting back to the library. Can you help me with that?"

Light Touch nodded. "Of course, this way sir."

"Cannit on the sirs, I don't hold rank over you."

"Yes, Mr. Walker." Crew sighed, he supposed that was as far as he was going to get with Light Touch. It didn't really matter, he just felt like Mr. Walker was his father. "If I may ask, why are you so loose?"

"What do you mean? Care to reword that?"

Light nodded. "You want me to treat you like I would to a new pony I've met. Why?"

"Simple, I hate being formal."

"Oh, ah...Okay then. Turn left, we're here." He said pointing to the door. "You weren't that far actually."

"Thanks Light." He nodded with a smile. As he was walking into the library he noticed Light wasn't following him. "You coming?" Light didn't answer, but followed him instead.

Crew walked back over to the massive book he was reading earlier. It took only a second or two to find his spot, and then he got back to reading. At this point in the book, Crew was reading about eighteen alicorns who once guided the world. Each had a job, aiding the world with just their powers. They all ruled over different regions. Celestia and Luna ad he found weren't exactly sisters, neither were they related to the other alicorns. A few struck his interest: Laov, the goddess of love, Terith, god of the earth, Sikal the goddess of passion and friendship, others were Gale, Ignal, Jade, Lorana, and others. Together they had made sure all of Equus was working correctly, and was balanced.

As he read on a picture of a sky blue alicorn with amber eyes, and his mane was white. The caption under the picture depicted the name Gale, Lord and God of the Skies Above. The alicorn had a picture of a silver wing on his flank, and in a yellow magic hold was a flute. The drawing was crude, but the alicorn looked to be smiling as he held the flute. The more he read of him, he found that he vanished three thousand years before Equestria's founding.

How did he vanish? Alice asked. As it turned out, it was still a mystery, but rumors held up a few suspicions. The first of few was he was trying to stop a war by talking to the parties involved. Another, he played a long that turned him into the wind and was never able to turn back. The last, and most ridicules was he killed himself without a reason. So no one really knows? Strange...

"Yeah..." Crew said, looking away from the page. The moon was rising, quickly. He guessed it was time for Luna to raise it since it was moving so fast.

He stood up and asked Light to help him to his room. Of course the guard agreed, but didn't like making much small talk. Part of the job Crew guessed simply. It wasn't his place to tell the guard to talk to him. If Light wanted to talk, he'd talk, so Crew left him be.

Crew, you've been quiet. Alice noted.

Crew shrugged and thought back. No much to talk about. Still trying to keep myself together. Don't want another shower with Celestia trying to help me.

You need to thank her for that. She's trying to help you, and all you've done is push her away. She isn't your father, she isn't anyone that we know. If she's wanting to trust us...well you, then you need to trust her. You've taught me that trust is important between humans.

Crew sighed to himself. Yeah, you're right...

"Everything alright Mr. Walker?"

He nodded. "Yeah, thanks for asking. Just in deep thought is all."

"What are you thinking about?" Oh! So now he wants to talk!?

"I'm wondering if I'm ever going to get home is all."

"Princess Luna is very wise and smart. She will shatter the moon to make sure her subjects are okay." Light said with a serious look on his face. "She is very generous when it comes to us who hide in her night."

"You seem to be very prideful in Luna."

He nodded. "She gave me a royal pardon for my crimes if I joined the guard, and swore to protect those who I failed before."

"What'd you do...if you don't mind me asking."

"I murdered my wife for sleeping with too many stallions. At first, it was heart breaking, but after the sixth...I became enraged. She broke my trust too many times....I-I couldn't take it anymore. She kept-"

"Stop there Light, say no more." Crew said kneeling down to hold the station's mouth shut. "Listen to me okay?"

He smiled once Crew let go. Suddenly he saw something standing behind Crew. It was a light gray figure, tall and had two large amber eyes. His eyes grew wide as the figure nodded and vanished away. "Did you see that?" Light pointed behind Crew.

Crew turned around and saw nothing but air. "I don't see anything, are you crazy?"

"N-no! I saw something behind you! I swear!" Light shouted. "It was huge!"

Crew rolled his eyes. "Yeah, alright...Back to my room now." He gave a long yawn. "Ambassadors need to get some sleep, room.  Now."

Light gave a sigh. "Yes, let's go..." Next Chapter: Chapter 5-Part 2: Hope Estimated time remaining: 3 Minutes
