Chapter 22: Snow

Snow

I shifted around under Darcy's arm. "Snowing." My voice was low as the girl to my back pulled me tight against her. "It's snowing Darcy."

Darcy let out a long sigh, her breath warm as it zipped through my long mane. "Are we getting close?"

I sighed loudly, safe and warm under Darcy's touch. "I don't know. Did we fall asleep? I feel groggy still...I can't actually tell." I rubbed my eyes, the pale light streaming through the now frosted window was odd, only illuminating the thin slit the window projected in an eery display. "Light looks weird." Brilliant mouth, way to keep up with brain. In a just world I would have been a drooling mental patient for all the times my words failed to match my brain.

Darcy nuzzled my head, her leg tossed over mine, her hoof between my two. "Should we get up?"

I grumbled softly and stretched my arms. "Get up, get dressed, just to go to dinner and sleep in a different bed." I sat upright, Darcy's hand staying on my side. "I hate the train ride down...they need to install that human made line in quicker." I stepped upright and off the bed, my bare body getting a harsh kick as the cold hit me. "Celestia no.... Your stupid farm air is screwing with my body."

Darcy pulled the sheet over her head and watched me shake. "No, but now you get why normal ponies hate winter."

I took a deep breath and rubbed my arms. "You didn't bring any warm clothes either, did you?"

Darcy shook her head and got her hooves out from under her. "I didn't think I'd be leaving the train."

I grumbled softly and rubbed my face. "What size are you?"

Darcy looked out towards the window. "Why?"

I shook my head. "Because I can probably get you a uniform. They're made out of wool with cotton insides. You'll probably fit into a large on the technical style."

Darcy stared at me, eyes half open. "Did you just call me fat?"

I stared right back, slumping my shoulder forward slightly. "You're six-something. You look like you could crush a coconut by looking at it the wrong way."

Darcy smiled lazily. "Worked on you."

I felt my stomach tense up. "Not really the same--"

Darcy popped her eyebrows up. "I probably could."

I huffed and grabbed my clothes off the ground. "I don't think we're going to find out." I pulled my pants on in an instant. "I don't need you threatening my gentiles to climax...." I tensed up all over and shook my head. "A scary thought to say the least."

Darcy laughed and grabbed her shirt from the end of the bed. "You're just scared cause I'd do it."

I turned to her just as I pulled my arm through my jacket. "Yes! Yes I am!" I buttoned up my undershirts, then finally my coat. "But you never answered my question, size?"

Darcy pulled her breasts back into her bra and buttoned up her shirt. "Medium...."

I stared at her. "You know, we can't really tailor a uniform within two minutes, right?"

Darcy huffed angrily. "Large...."

I walked up to her and took her hand, lifting her to her hooves. "Thank you. I know just who to ask too." I pulled my bag down from the  storage above the bed and found a pair of gloves. "Here, try these on."

Darcy took the gloves and pulled them on while I got ready. "I think my fingers are too long."

I looked over to her. "Ah...sorry--" I stopped as I spotted something strange outside. I rushed over to the window, Darcy following quickly. "Oh, it's happening." I smiled gently. "They're going to thaw everything soon."

Darcy watched as a bright blue ray shot into the sky. "Whoa, neat."

I nodded quickly. "Summer's coming, I guess it's for that."

Darcy smiled over at me. "You know, if you need to stay for a while, I think everypony will understand."

I took a deep breath. "I might be a bit longer then. I've got something I have to find." I snuck my hand around Darcy's back until I could hold her against my by her hip. "Darcy...why can I feel bare coat?"

She smirked at me. "No pants."

I sighed softly and watched as the great expanse of endless rugged white hills was cut off for a bright open train station, the stone walks surrounding the slits where trains could pull in were bustling with ponies. "Occam's Razor I suppose." I squeezed her hip. "Go find your--pants." I rubbed her side, up under her shirt and over the joining between coat and bare skin. "Go find...pants. Pants."

Darcy bumped me away with her hip. "Then stop."

I bit my tongue and grabbed my bags. "Aye, sorry." I walked to the door of the small room and flicked the lights off, the window enough to light up the room. "Waiting on you."

Darcy huffed. "You know, we did strip. You could let me get my socks on before rushing me."

I rolled my eyes, watching her socks zip over her hooves. They were followed up by a hardy pair of leather work boots. "Ponies in boots still feels like an odd concept."

Darcy finished getting dressed in her usual jeans and collared shirt and marched up to me. "It's better than getting your leg caught in a thornbush."

"Fair point." I slid the door open and lead Darcy out into the hall. "Well, at any rate, welcome to Storm Side." I made my way to the door and stepped out onto the cold stone expanse of the train station grounds. The massive empty space absolutely flooded with ponies and the auxiliary species.

"It's--" Darcy stopped dead, looking overhead at the massive vaulted ceiling, carved and painted with plaster and stone. "Oh my god." She bumped into my back, grabbing my shoulders to steady herself. "This exists?"

I looked up at the paintings of windigos and ice, ponies and lances, fire coming from Eureka's horn. "I guess Ponyville's still a bit new compared to Storm Side."

Darcy looked down at me. "New?! We've--"

"Storm Side wasn't founded, it was rebuilt." I felt a heavy frown settle on my cheeks. "I'll tell you about it one day. But yes, this place is very, very old." I pointed up to the ceiling. "Eureka, the Last Pyromancer. Skane, Founder of Old Equestria." I pointed to the painting over the exit, out into the corridors that made up Storm Side's streets. "The coronation of Celestia, the recognition of the Sun Goddess." I pointed to the one below it, that was inlayed with doors and windows. "The fall of the thestrals, the conversion of High Rock to Canterlot." I shook my head. "They're even painting one of Princess Twilight's defeat of Tirek, over in the north hall."

Darcy gawked at the painting of Eureka, lost in the display of fire rushing forth from her horn and burning away a windigo's tail. "This is nuts."

I nodded. "Yeah, nuts." I felt the cold start to sneak into my coat and rest against my first layer of clothes. "We should go, we need to find Professor Bloom and Professor Murdoch. Sooner the better," I stated, turning to her. "Your nipples are going to cut through your shirt if we don't hurry."

Darcy looked down and immediately covered her chest. "Through the bra!?"

I just looked at her arm, tanned skin covering her shirt. "You underestimated the cold." I took her free hand and started off towards the main halls. "I'm sure Professor Bloom will help you out." Next Chapter: Uniform Estimated time remaining: 24 Minutes
