“Stephanie! You’ll be late for school!” My mother shouted standing few steps from my bed, as if sun coming through the window wasn’t annoying enough.

“Five more minutes mom…”

“No more minutes for you young lady, get your clothes on and come downstairs, breakfast is ready.” She commented and left my room, I loved my mom, but it wouldn’t hurt to sometimes hear ‘Stephanie, it is time for school, but I know how hard you worked yesterday getting rid of these monsters for the people of Temeria so you can sleep today!’.

With a small smirk I got up. “Yeah, right.” I got to my wardrobe and took out a pair of jeans and loose T-Shirt with a green 1UP mushroom from Mario.

Most girls are spending whole morning covering their faces in layers of make-up, but I never really cared about it that much.

My mother always said that I have very feminine looks, with my long blond hair, sapphire eyes, long eyelashes and good figure, but honestly I couldn’t care less about that, I wasn’t looking for a boyfriend anytime soon.

So completely satisfied with my set of clothes and complete lack of chemicals on my face, I walked downstairs yawning and entered the kitchen, where my mother and younger brother Jerry were already eating their toasts.

“Morning!” I shouted trying to look alive, which wasn’t easy after playing until it was 6 a.m., sleeping for only 1 hour can sometimes really turn you into a zombie. And I don't like being a zombie, I usually shoot them.

“Hey big sis!” Jerry shouted back, I loved my little brother more than anyone else, especially since the day he started to show interest in gaming, not to mention that he, just like me stands on Playstation site in the holy neverending war of consoles.

“Well look who decided to show up, our little Princess.” My mother commented.

“Yeah, yeah, so what are the odds that some of these are not burnt?” I asked pointing at the pile of leftovers.

“You can only blame yourself for getting up so late darling.” My mother replied. She wasn't a great cook, like always some of her creations were edible and other, well not really.

“Yeah right, I guess I’ll just have something to eat in school.”

“You’re not going to eat with your family?” My mother asked, clearly surprised.

“I would but I’m not in the mood for eating coal.”

“It’s not that bad sis! I can crush them with fork so it should be edible.”

I laughed while my mother gave Jerry a death glare before turning her attention towards me. “Well pardon me if I mess up some of the toasts, I’m not a professional cook.”

“Sure, next time you’ll want me to eat with you, leave at least two or three edible ones.” With that comment I left the kitchen and made my way towards the exit, picking up my hoodie and putting on my shoes I was ready for another exciting day in school!

Well not really, I could literally feel my eyelids getting heavier and heavier with every moment, I left my house and walked forward, trying to look excited.

I decided to take a shortcut through the park, it was a nice place a lot of greenery and small animals wandering around freely. There were squirrels running on the trees, ducks swimming in the pond, blue pony with horn and wings running around, some birds soaring through air and….

“A blue pony with horn and wings?!”

My whole body froze and immediately turned around, I looked closely but this time I didn’t see anything weird.

“That’s it Steph, no more playing overnights.” I continued my journey to school occasionally turning around just to be sure.

After few more minutes of refreshing walk, which hopefully will be enough to keep me away from sleeping, yeah as if, our first lesson was history and our teacher could even make a tiger fall asleep with his talking, I finally arrived at the school gates.

“Hey Steph! Wait up!”

I knew this voice very well, Andrew, one of my best friends was running towards me. It didn’t took him too long but when he finally stopped he started to gasp for air.

If you thought I am nerd, wait till you meet this guy.

“You should really work on your Stamina you know?”

“I-I prefer to put points into intelligence.” He said smiling, with a sigh I patted him on the shoulder few times. “You know, if you want to get a girlfriend you have to take care of yourself, I mean you can’t do much about being short but at least you could get few muscles in your arms.”

Truth to be told Andrew looked like a stereotypical nerd, with glasses held together by a tape, he wasn’t very tall standing at around 1,6 meters. He wears a bowl haircut and dresses up in checked shirts and tight jeans.

As if he's asking people to make fun of him.

“Oh don’t ya worry about that, I have my eyes only on one girl.”

“Good for you." I quickly replied feeling a bit sorry for both Andrew and the lucky girl. "We better get inside or we might be late.” I said and entered the school yard when suddenly I felt something weird, as if someone was watching me from afar, I quickly looked around but didn’t notice anything.

“Is something wrong Steph?” Andrew asked me.

“No, everything’s fine, hey tell me, were you ever so tired that you saw hallucinations?”

“What kind of hallucinations?”

“Well I don’t know, ponies with blue fur, and with wings and horns.”

Andrew looked at me with raised eyebrow. “Are you high?”

“What no, you know I’m not into drugs.”

“Well teenagers at the age of seventeen tend to use different stimulants for fun.”

“What are you… Andrew you are seventeen too.”

“Well yes, but I’m two months older.”

I rolled my eyes and walked forward, Andrew shouted something but I didn’t care to listen anymore and instead changed my walk into a run, soon enough I was under my classroom while Andrew gave up on chasing me and went to his class.

Sure my stamina wasn’t a sportsman level, but at least I could run few minutes without getting tired.

And so the first lesson started, like I thought it was boring and long, I am sure that these clocks are lying and these lesson all last at least an hour, if it’s super boring then sometimes even two hours.

But aside from my fight for staying awake I felt something weird, through the whole day in school I sometimes felt like someone was watching me.

I blamed it on my fatigue but with each time I experienced this feeling, I was getting more and more nervous.

Finally after long day the last bell rang meaning I could go back home and get some sleep, Andrew finished his lessons earlier so he was already gone, and so I walked back home through the same shortcut, this time however I noticed the lack of blue ponies.

Happy that perhaps I’m not hallucinating I soon arrived at the doors of my home, I used my keys to open them and walked inside.

“Hey, I’m back!” I shouted while taking off my shoes and my hoodie, no one answered my greeting which means that father was still in work, and mother was probably driving towards Jerry’s school to pick him up.

Being home alone never really bothered me, probably because I am a gamer, and that's good cause I was home alone a lot. Father who is a dentist with his own private office worked all day long and mother was usually doing something in town. Sure I had Jerry but he often goes outside to play with his friends.

My mother was a writer, a pretty successful one and with their incomes combined, we were quite rich, I never bragged about this or used it to get popular like some of the girls in school, but it didn’t hurt to get some expensive stuff from time to time.

Soon enough my fatigue showed itself by making me yawn, without further ado I rushed towards my room and jumped onto the bed, smiling blissfully as I finally could welcome back a sweet land of dreams.

“Pardon us citizen, but it would seem that we need thou’s help.”

My eyes slowly opened as I could swear I heard someone talking, after few seconds of fighting with my eyelids I finally could take a look around.

Only to realize that I have gone mad.

Here, in the middle of my room, was a sitting a pony, with blue fur, wings, horn, and a mane that looked like it had a life of its own.

“Did we startle you with our royal presence? Fear not as we have deemed thou worth talking with us, and so…”

*THUD*

“Fair citizen? Why did thou faint?”
