Chapter 0

Hey, my name is Stephanie, but my friends call me Steph for short. I wanted to tell you a little story about my life, hey don’t go! Stay where you are I promise it gets interesting!

You’re back? Good, then let me start from the beginning, from the day I met someone who soon would become my best friend.

That person was a pony!

Chapter 1 - Screw my sanity.

Author's Notes:

Not proofread.

“Stephanie! You’ll be late for school!” My mother shouted standing few steps from my bed, as if sun coming through the window wasn’t annoying enough.

“Five more minutes mom…”

“No more minutes for you young lady, get your clothes on and come downstairs, breakfast is ready.” She commented and left my room, I loved my mom, but it wouldn’t hurt to sometimes hear ‘Stephanie, it is time for school, but I know how hard you worked yesterday getting rid of these monsters for the people of Temeria so you can sleep today!’.

With a small smirk I got up. “Yeah, right.” I got to my wardrobe and took out a pair of jeans and loose T-Shirt with a green 1UP mushroom from Mario.

Most girls are spending whole morning covering their faces in layers of make-up, but I never really cared about it that much.

My mother always said that I have very feminine looks, with my long blond hair, sapphire eyes, long eyelashes and good figure, but honestly I couldn’t care less about that, I wasn’t looking for a boyfriend anytime soon.

So completely satisfied with my set of clothes and complete lack of chemicals on my face, I walked downstairs yawning and entered the kitchen, where my mother and younger brother Jerry were already eating their toasts.

“Morning!” I shouted trying to look alive, which wasn’t easy after playing until it was 6 a.m., sleeping for only 1 hour can sometimes really turn you into a zombie. And I don't like being a zombie, I usually shoot them.

“Hey big sis!” Jerry shouted back, I loved my little brother more than anyone else, especially since the day he started to show interest in gaming, not to mention that he, just like me stands on Playstation site in the holy neverending war of consoles.

“Well look who decided to show up, our little Princess.” My mother commented.

“Yeah, yeah, so what are the odds that some of these are not burnt?” I asked pointing at the pile of leftovers.

“You can only blame yourself for getting up so late darling.” My mother replied. She wasn't a great cook, like always some of her creations were edible and other, well not really.

“Yeah right, I guess I’ll just have something to eat in school.”

“You’re not going to eat with your family?” My mother asked, clearly surprised.

“I would but I’m not in the mood for eating coal.”

“It’s not that bad sis! I can crush them with fork so it should be edible.”

I laughed while my mother gave Jerry a death glare before turning her attention towards me. “Well pardon me if I mess up some of the toasts, I’m not a professional cook.”

“Sure, next time you’ll want me to eat with you, leave at least two or three edible ones.” With that comment I left the kitchen and made my way towards the exit, picking up my hoodie and putting on my shoes I was ready for another exciting day in school!

Well not really, I could literally feel my eyelids getting heavier and heavier with every moment, I left my house and walked forward, trying to look excited.

I decided to take a shortcut through the park, it was a nice place a lot of greenery and small animals wandering around freely. There were squirrels running on the trees, ducks swimming in the pond, blue pony with horn and wings running around, some birds soaring through air and….

“A blue pony with horn and wings?!”

My whole body froze and immediately turned around, I looked closely but this time I didn’t see anything weird.

“That’s it Steph, no more playing overnights.” I continued my journey to school occasionally turning around just to be sure.

After few more minutes of refreshing walk, which hopefully will be enough to keep me away from sleeping, yeah as if, our first lesson was history and our teacher could even make a tiger fall asleep with his talking, I finally arrived at the school gates.

“Hey Steph! Wait up!”

I knew this voice very well, Andrew, one of my best friends was running towards me. It didn’t took him too long but when he finally stopped he started to gasp for air.

If you thought I am nerd, wait till you meet this guy.

“You should really work on your Stamina you know?”

“I-I prefer to put points into intelligence.” He said smiling, with a sigh I patted him on the shoulder few times. “You know, if you want to get a girlfriend you have to take care of yourself, I mean you can’t do much about being short but at least you could get few muscles in your arms.”

Truth to be told Andrew looked like a stereotypical nerd, with glasses held together by a tape, he wasn’t very tall standing at around 1,6 meters. He wears a bowl haircut and dresses up in checked shirts and tight jeans.

As if he's asking people to make fun of him.

“Oh don’t ya worry about that, I have my eyes only on one girl.”

“Good for you." I quickly replied feeling a bit sorry for both Andrew and the lucky girl. "We better get inside or we might be late.” I said and entered the school yard when suddenly I felt something weird, as if someone was watching me from afar, I quickly looked around but didn’t notice anything.

“Is something wrong Steph?” Andrew asked me.

“No, everything’s fine, hey tell me, were you ever so tired that you saw hallucinations?”

“What kind of hallucinations?”

“Well I don’t know, ponies with blue fur, and with wings and horns.”

Andrew looked at me with raised eyebrow. “Are you high?”

“What no, you know I’m not into drugs.”

“Well teenagers at the age of seventeen tend to use different stimulants for fun.”

“What are you… Andrew you are seventeen too.”

“Well yes, but I’m two months older.”

I rolled my eyes and walked forward, Andrew shouted something but I didn’t care to listen anymore and instead changed my walk into a run, soon enough I was under my classroom while Andrew gave up on chasing me and went to his class.

Sure my stamina wasn’t a sportsman level, but at least I could run few minutes without getting tired.

And so the first lesson started, like I thought it was boring and long, I am sure that these clocks are lying and these lesson all last at least an hour, if it’s super boring then sometimes even two hours.

But aside from my fight for staying awake I felt something weird, through the whole day in school I sometimes felt like someone was watching me.

I blamed it on my fatigue but with each time I experienced this feeling, I was getting more and more nervous.

Finally after long day the last bell rang meaning I could go back home and get some sleep, Andrew finished his lessons earlier so he was already gone, and so I walked back home through the same shortcut, this time however I noticed the lack of blue ponies.

Happy that perhaps I’m not hallucinating I soon arrived at the doors of my home, I used my keys to open them and walked inside.

“Hey, I’m back!” I shouted while taking off my shoes and my hoodie, no one answered my greeting which means that father was still in work, and mother was probably driving towards Jerry’s school to pick him up.

Being home alone never really bothered me, probably because I am a gamer, and that's good cause I was home alone a lot. Father who is a dentist with his own private office worked all day long and mother was usually doing something in town. Sure I had Jerry but he often goes outside to play with his friends.

My mother was a writer, a pretty successful one and with their incomes combined, we were quite rich, I never bragged about this or used it to get popular like some of the girls in school, but it didn’t hurt to get some expensive stuff from time to time.

Soon enough my fatigue showed itself by making me yawn, without further ado I rushed towards my room and jumped onto the bed, smiling blissfully as I finally could welcome back a sweet land of dreams.

“Pardon us citizen, but it would seem that we need thou’s help.”

My eyes slowly opened as I could swear I heard someone talking, after few seconds of fighting with my eyelids I finally could take a look around.

Only to realize that I have gone mad.

Here, in the middle of my room, was a sitting a pony, with blue fur, wings, horn, and a mane that looked like it had a life of its own.

“Did we startle you with our royal presence? Fear not as we have deemed thou worth talking with us, and so…”

*THUD*

“Fair citizen? Why did thou faint?”

Chapter 2 - Getting to know the Princess.

After few hours of staying unconscious I woke up, at first I was a bit confused as to why was I sleeping on floor, but when I fully opened my eyes and looked around it all came back to me like, striking me like the thunder.

“Are thou finally awake? Good, we had to patiently wait here almost an hour for thou.” That blue horse said.

I blinked my eyes a few times as I still couldn’t believe what they saw. A talking horse. A talking, blue horse with wings and horn! And she even had what looked like tiara!

“Are thou all right?” She asked me.

I stiffed my laughter for a moment, but soon gave few chuckles, blue horse looked at me confused. I pointed at her. “Horses can’t talk! That’s scientifically impossible, you are scientifically impossible!”

“We would be very grateful if thou could withhold thine enthusiasm for a couple of minutes, and we assure thou that there’s nothing in thine room that’s not real.” She said with a deadly serious expression, yeah right.

I heard about people seeing hallucinations from the lack of sleep, but I slept for an hour, it’s not like I didn’t get any in days right? With my mind state being my main concern I stood up and walked over to the doors. “Where are thou going?” She asked me but I didn’t reply, why would I reply to my own hallucinations? It would be the same as talking to myself.

If what she said was true and I slept for an hour than Jerry should be home. “Hey, bro are you here?” I shouted and waited for response, which came after few moments.

“I’m in living room!” He shouted back, with a smile on my face I walked downstairs, that blue horse following me all the way. I didn’t really care, why should I? It’s not like Jerry could see her anyway.

I walked into the living room where our playstation was placed, Jerry held one controller and it seems that he played some kind of Dragon Ball game, I never could get into this anime stuff but my brother loved it. “Hey Jerry, how was your day? Where’s mom?”

“Hey, pretty good, what do you mean by that?” He answered.

“Well, I mean where is she? She picked you up from school right? So where’s she now?”

Jerry paused the game and gave me ‘Are you dumb or what?’ look. “What?” I added.

Jerry sighed with disappointment. “Seriously? Steph mom and dad are on two weeks long vacations.”

“…”

“Steph?”

“They are?”

“Yeah, they were telling us about this for like six months, they wanted to spend some time with just each other and asked us if this was all right, both you and me agreed.” He scratched his head. “You even said that you’ll take care of the house and everything.”

I looked at my brother completely dumbfounded as my brain was starting to collect the puzzles, images of my parents talking about their trip to Europe were quickly coming back, making me feel embarrassed.

“Well, I suppose in our situation it’s quite convenient isn’t it?” Jerry added.

I raised my eyebrow in confusion. “What situation are you talking about?”

“I don’t think parents would agree to help Luna so easily.” Jerry said and waved his hand, bringing me deeper and deeper into sea of confusion.

“Ok, primo who’s Luna, secondo who are you waving to, terzo do we have anything to eat? I’m starving.”

Jerry chuckled softly. “Yeah we should have some Spaghetti which mom left, just heat it up a little. And your two first questions are connected, Luna is that pony standing behind you.”

In that moment I felt as if something in my brain broke, I could literally hear creaking noises coming from inside of my head. “What did you just say?”

“Oh come on, she’s right there, hey Luna!” He said and waved again, soon from behind me I heard her voice. “We welcome thou, Sir Jerry.”

I slowly turned around and saw that blue horse, I mean Luna standing there with a cocky grin on her muzzle. “You’re real?”

She nodded.

“Everything’s all right sis?” Jerry asked concerned.

“No, no I’m fine, just, I just have to sit for a moment.” I sat down on a sofa almost falling over, I heard Jerry and Luna talking about something, my brother was talking with a blue horse, freaking blue horse.

I took a deep breath and counted to ten, then released it. I repeated that a couple times and looked at those two, talking as if it was normal, heck, if Jerry can deal with this, then I have to try as well. And with that decision I stood up and walked over to them. “Luna right? I will believe that you exist, for now at least.”

Luna nodded and smiled. “Under normal circumstances we would have to ask thou to address us with proper use our Princess status, but since we are just a guest in thine household Luna shall be fine.” Oh great, so she’s some kind of royal snob.

“Now, since thou finally calmed down can we tell you our story and what we ask of thou?” I nodded.

Luna sat on her haunches and cleared her throat. “We shall try to make this as short as possible. We are one of the Princesses of the land called Equestria, it is a beautiful country populated by us, ponies. One night we were helping our subjects with their nightmares, when we came back from their dreams we were already in this world, more specifically in the park of some sort.” Images from morning came back, when I ran through a park to make it a shortcut, was it then that she arrived?

“When we finally comprehend the situation realizing that this isn’t our world.” Luna continued her story. “It was obvious that we will need and ally of some sort to help us come back, and then we saw thou running through the park.”

“Why me?” I asked the obvious question.

“Thou were one of not so many humans in the park at the moment, and thou seemed like the most trustworthy one.” She said and ended with small wink. “We followed thou the whole day and when we finally got a chance to speak with thou in thine room...”

“I passed out.” I finished for her.

Luna nodded. “Soon after that Sir Jerry came back home, he was quite surprised to see me at first, but unlike thou he didn’t faint and let us explain everything. He even told us a few things about this world, we know that thine kind is called humans from him.” She said and smiled towards my brother who quickly returned the gesture.

I scratched my head, it’s not like I could just deny her existence now can I? “Well fine then, what do you want us to do?”

“She only wants a place to stay until she’ll find a way to get back home.” Jerry answered my question proudly, maybe it was my imagination but he was pretty excited for her being here.

“Yes, exactly, we would like to stay here in thine household for now.” She added and stood up.

I sighed with defeat and threw my arms into the air. “Fine, you can stay.” I added and wanted to leave the room but something struck me. “By the way, why are you talking like that? Is this how you ponies talk?”

Luna looked at me with a small blush on her muzzle, she looked quite funny when embarrassed. “It’s a long story, we…I was, absent for a thousand years and we, I mean, I can’t get used to the modern way of talking.” She said struggling with each word, I had to stifle my laugh.

“Are thou finding our speech problems humorous?” She asked almost outraged.

“Yeah just a bit, Princess.” I said earning a death glare from Luna, maybe her stay won’t be that bad. “Anyways, since you two seem to get along so well I’ll just leave you alone and get some sleep.” I once again started to leave the room but stopped just before the staircase. “Oh, and we can’t let anyone know about this, all right?”

Jerry and Luna nodded, with a proud smile I finally could go upstairs and get myself a proper nap, a one on the bed not on the floor.

“Hey Luna, do you know what video games are?”

“We do not, but this thing in thy hands looks interesting, is this what thou call a “video” game?” Jerry chuckled and said something else but I couldn’t hear it, I stepped into my room and laughed at the absurd of this whole situation.

I sat down on my bed and took off my T-Shirt, leaving it on the floor. I finally could lay down in a soft bed I sighed and closed my eyes.

“A blue horse playing video games? Yeah right. I would like to see this.” Were my last words before finally falling asleep. What I didn’t know, was that under my floor in my living room, my brother was creating a future video game champion.
