A Princess of Friendship

Princess Twilight Sparkle was a lovely lavender Alicorn, being the daugter of the kind and wise Queen Celestia she obtained many of her her characteristics from her mother. She lived in a tall and majestic castle overlooking the Sun Kingdom, her aunt Queen Luna ruled over the Moon Kingdom. Twilight had a grand bedroom filled with many bookshelves as she loved to read, a small bed where her dragon friend Spike slept, drawers filled scrolls and parchment and ink. She also had a small chest where she kept all of the gifts from her fiancé Prince Sombra. The two had met over two years ago and they fell in love, now she was engaged and was going to marry him in a months time. Just then there was a knock on her door.

"Princess Twilight Sparkle, it's me Applejack!"

The Princess ran towards the door and opened it to find her Earth Pony friend waiting for her with a big smile on her face. She had her cowboy hat on with her blonde hair in a pony tail. Twilight gave her friend a large hug.

"Applejack! It's so good to see you again, where are the others?" The purple Unicorn said in delight.

"Well everypony is in the dinning hall with Queen Celestia. We were all waiting fer you sugar!"

Twilight giggled, "I'm sorry Applejack. Do you mind walking with me? I shouldn't have kept Mother waiting."

Applejack nodded. "Of course sugarcube! Ah would love to!"

Together the two ponies walked into the hall where Twilight and Queen Celestia's bedroom were. Next they came to a long staircase and went down each step one by one. Princess Twilight Sparkle had always enjoyed the arctexture of the castle,and seeing it shimmer and sparkle every morning always made her smile. She was glad she lived in such a beautiful castle.

"Where did you git that?" Applejack asked.

Twilight noticed she pointing to the necklace around her neck. "Oh! This was a gift from Prince Sombra!"

The Princess blushed at the thought of the Prince. He was the most handsome stallion Twilight had ever seen. He had a dark grey coat, with a flowing black mane. He always wore a bright blue jacket with good buttons. He ruled over his kingdom with compassion and gentleness. He loved Twilight's interest in books and learning and the two had become great friends.

Applejack nodded. "Well it sure is nice."

"Thank you!" Twilight smiled.

By the time they got to the end of the staircase they found themselves met with a large room filled with many doors. They walked towards a part of the room with two large silver doors, Applejack pushed them open to find an white Alicorn and four other ponies sitting at a large table. All of them looked up and when they saw the Princess they smiled.

"Hi Princess Twilight! Come sit with us!" Called out her energy filled friend named Pinkie Pie.

The white Alicorn, Queen Celestia smiled at her daughter. "Hello Twilight dear, come and enjoy some breakfast."

Twilight did as she was told and grinned at her friends. Applejack a seat right next to her. Six of the servants came out and brought out seven trays of food. Today's meal was some delicious pancakes with a bow full of an assortment of fruit, there were also two eggs and a fresh glass of milk. Twilight inhaled the delicious scent, everything looked so tasty!

"Chef Silver Platter really has outdone himself with this meal your Highness!" Rainbow Dash, a blue Pegasus said.

"Indeed, a five star meal; you simply must give him my complements." A white Unicorn named Rarity said with pride.

Queen Celestia smiled, it filled her with joy to see her subjects happy. Even more to know her subjects wanted to please her with such quality in their work. She clapped her hooves and called two servants over. A brown colt and a crimson mare.

"Yes your Highness?" The mare asked.

"I would like you to give Silver Platter his pay, only this time double it, no triple it! Tell him that he has pleased me, my daughter and her friends with his fine talent."

The mare nodded. "Yes Queen Celestia! Right away!"

And with that the two servants raced away. The Queen smiled as she turned to her daughter.

"Aunt Luna will be coming over for a visit this afternoon."

Twilight's eyes grew wide with excitement. "Really! That's wonderful news!"

The Queen nodded. "Yes indeed, we have much business to discuss. Especially about the wedding."

Twilight blushed, ever since her mother had found out she was engaged to Prince Sombra she had been very pleased. She wanted to make sure everything was perfect, and all her friends would be there. Twilight wouldn't have had it any other way.

"Oh Queen Celestia, will we have to leave?" A yellow Pegasus named Fluttershy asked.

Celestia shook her head. "Of course not Fluttershy, I'm sure Luna would love to see you again! In fact why don't you all spend the night at the castle?"

Rarity smiled. "Here? In the castle?"

Applejack shook her head. "Oh I couldn't ask of you to do that Queen Celestia!"

But the Alicorn shook her head. "I insist you all stay, you are my daughters friends and you deserve to be treated. Besides it will only be a night."

Everypony smiled and the dinning hall was filled with laughter and the sound of ponies talking. Celestia was so happy that her daughter had such kind and thoughtful friends. Everyone in the Sun and Moon Kingdom had hearts filled with love and friendship. All of it made Queen Celestia feel good, her subjects looked up to her and it made her feel special. Once again she summoned a servant.

"Your Highness you called?" The colt asked.

"Yes, please find the finest bedrooms for my daughters friends. You will be paid for your troubles."

The colt nodded. "Of course my Queen."

Meanwhile Twilight was having the time of her life. All her friends were here, her Aunt Luna was coming for a visit and soon she would be married to the stallion of her dreams. Everything was perfect, just then Spike came into the room.

"Hiya Twilight! Good morning Celestia!" The baby dragon said in a cheerful tone.

"Good morning Spike, I have your breakfast ready." Celestia pushed a tray towards him.

Spike lifted the lid off, on the tray was a small stack of shimmering gems and crystals, his favorite meal. Spike licked his lips in anticipation, there were diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and many other varieties of jewels.

"Oh thank you so much!" Spike praised Celestia before gobbling handfuls of gems. "It's delicious!"

The Queen chuckled. "Your quite welcome, Spike."

Everypony laughed, so far happiness and joy had filled everyone's hearts. Everything was perfect.

 

Or so everyone had thought.......

Chaos in Darkness

Beyond the outskirts of the Sun and Moon Kingdom, in the forbidden and long forgotten Everfree Forest in the deepest part of the forest there lay an ancient castle close to ruins. But inside a faint glow good be seen from the outside of the castle. There a mystical creature stood in the center of what looked like a throne room. He was holding a glowing beam of light in his claw. This was no ordinary creature; not like the fierce manticore, or the hostile cockatrice, or even the dreaded hydra. This creature had a long, slender snake-like body, with the right arm of a lions paw, on the left an eagle claw, on the top of his head were two horns a  deer and a goat, along with a pony mane going down part of the back of his neck. He had a long snake tail, for his legs he had a lizard foot and a cloven hoof of a goat. He had a large fang, white eyebrows and a long beard with two glowing yellow eyes with red iris'. Yes this creature was rare and unique, but he was feared by everyone, well almost everyone.....

"Moonlight......." The creature whispered.

He could hear hoof steps, then the door to the room creaked open. He turned to face a familiar looking pony.

"You called Discord, my Lord?"

The Draconequus was named Discord. Everypony who came across him would always scream or run away in terror. But not her, she was different. This pony was very different, and she had come to show her loyalty towards him. Long ago he had once ruled over both the Sun and Moon Kingdom with her by his side. But then the ponies had tried to overthrow him because he had put their world in a state of chaos and brought tyranny to everyone. With no choice the two fled and had found refuge in the castle, and they remained there ever since.

"I have found her." Discord stated.

"Who have you found my Lord?" The pony asked.

He pointed towards the glowing light he held in his claw.

"I have found the pony I intend on making my queen Moonlight." He told her.

Moonlight Chaos was an Alicorn, she had been gifted with powers similar to Discord, that was part of the reason they were able to see eye to eye with each other. She had a dark midnight blue coat, her ethreal mane was filled with dark shades of blue and hints of white, she had a tall horn and long feathered wings. She was almost as tall as Discord, she stood up to the end of his beard. Her eyes had a simiar touch to Discord's yellow scelras with red iris'. But Moonlight served him, she respected him, and she feared him. She was a useful mare, smart, and powerful. She obeyed every order given, and now that he had a plan he had more purpose to use her.

"The daughter of Celestia, she is a smart, young mare. Not only can I make her my queen but I can also gain something else."

"And what would that be my Lord?" Moonlight Chaos asked.

"The kingdom that belonged to me of course." Discord replied.

Moonlight nodded, "Of course Discord, forgive me for being so forgetful."

Discord turned back to his magic. "Your are forgiven dear, now fetch me some tea."

Moonlight bowed. "Of course my Lord." And she slowly walked out of the room.

Discord didn't really like tea, but the idea of having something warm and calming in his hands made everything seem better. He was not much for making sense, he was after all the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony after all. He continued to stare at the young Alicorn. She looked so smart and beautiful, she was gentle and caring. While in her friends the Draconequus saw many flaws. The one called Rainbow Dash, was too boastful and was not a gentle, although she was loyal. The one named Applejack was too practical while she worked hard sometimes she could get very stubborn and like Rainbow Dash did not look like someone who would trust someone like him so easily. The one called Rarity was too fussy; always complaining about how everything had to be exact, she had to keep things clean and only cared about dresses, and jewels. Fluttershy was too shy, she hid at everything she saw and was extremely sensitive. She was too timid and if she took one look at him she would scream and hide. Pinkie Pie the Earth Pony, while she was much like him in her own way, was too perky and loud all the time, she was extremely girly and talked a bit too much.

"She's perfect......." Discord whispered to himself.

The more he stared at the Princess, the more attracted he was to her. Her strong smile, her desire to learn, and her love of magic. She wasn't that bad to look at, with the exception of Moonlight.  There was just something that clicked inside of him and made him feel strange. Just then Moonlight came in carrying a tray with a tea kettle and a tea cup. She set it down on the table next to him.

"Your tea Discord." She said in a gentle voice.

Discord nodded. "Yes, thank you. Now go," He said waving his paw pushing her away. "I have important

business I must attend to."

Moonlight nodded. "Of course my Lord."

"Good mare, you obey orders and always do as you are told. That pleases me, you must always respect your Master." Discord said to her in a cold tone.

"Yes Discord, I understand." Moonlight answered.

Moonlight slowly walked out of the room and shut the door behind her. Then she let out a long sigh. Her dark mane filled with different shades of blue and white was already a mess. Even though she worked very hard, she never had seen her hair get this messed up before. She enjoyed working for her master Discord, even though he wasn't even paying her, she didn't want to get paid. He already supplied her with the things she needed. Seeing him happy made her happy. She pushed her hair away from her face, and walked down the long old hallway that was lit only by dim candles. She walked into a small room with a pile of pillows and blankets. She leaned towards the pillows and fell on top of the small pile. She buried part of her face into the pillow and allowed a small tear to fall down her face.

"Be careful with planning my Lord, don't let them overthrow you again. I will always be at your side."

Meanwhile back in the old throne room, Discord was watching the Princess. He noticed her mother Queen Celestia and saw her sister Queen Luna would be visiting. An idea popped into his head, and he began to devise a plan.

"Have fun my little Princess, but you will be mine sooner or later...."

Dreams of Mystery

Twilight Sparkle and her friends welcomed Queen Luna. She was also an Alicorn like Twilight and Celestia, with a blue coat and a sparkling mane. Queen Luna ruled over the Moon Kingdom, and protected the secrets and treasures of the night. While the Sun Kingdom's signature color was yellow, the Moon Kingdom's signature color was blue. Twilight bowed to her beloved aunt.

"Aunt Luna! How was your trip? I could hardly wait for you to get here!" The Princess remarked.

Queen Luna smiled. "The trip was calming, I am so glad to visit you and my sister once again. The Kingdom looks brighter and better the last time we visited."

Queen Celestia turned to her sister. "I'll have the servants take your bags to your room sister."

The Moon Queen nodded. "Very well, would it be alright if we took a walk around your garden? We are a little tired from the journey and would love to relax."

Celestia smiled. "Of course, you and I can walk together while Twilight spends the evening with her friends. Tomorrow you two can spend all day together."

"That would be wonderful sister."

Together the two rulers walked outside towards the Royal Gardens. Twilight turned to her friends, who all grinned at her. Twilight smiled back.

"Well you heard the Queen, lets have fun!" Rainbow Dash said.

The six friends ran about the castle to begin their adventure, the moon was almost in the sky and they weren't going to waste a second of this valuable time! Together they read stories, sang songs, tried on new outfits the Princess had received, and had fun all night long.

The moon was now high in the sky, Twilight looked up at the large grandfather clock at the top of the staircase, it was ten o' clock. The Princess turned to her friends.

"Well, I suppose we should all head to our rooms and call it a night."

"Ah agree," Applejack stated. "Ah'm ready ta hit the hay."

"Yeah! I'm beat." Rainbow added.

Pinkie Pie smiled. "Well goodnight everypony!"

The six friends all said their good nights to each other. And they all departed to the rooms Queen Celestia had arranged for them to stay in. Twilight smiled as her friends all found their bedrooms and shut the doors behind them. Twilight sighed and prepared to make her way to her own bedroom, on the way she found her Aunt Luna walking towards her.

"Oh Twilight! We were just going to our room, we cannot wait to spend a delightful time with you tomorrow. So far we are enjoying our visit."

"That's fantastic Aunt Luna! I can't wait for tomorrow!" Princess Twilight said with a smile.

The two hugged, Twilight loved it when her aunt came to visit. She always gave the day a bit of mystery. And it was great to see her mother spend time with her sister. When they broke the hug Twilight watched as Luna turned into a black Alicorn with long wings.

"Well, I'm off to raise the stars and paint the night sky. Goodnight Twilight Sparkle."

"Goodnight Aunt Luna." Twilight replied.

Luna stopped her. "During the night, you shall address me as Nightmare Moon."

Twilight giggled, whenever the moon came out Luna turned into a being of darkness called Nightmare Moon. When she was young Twilight used to be a little scared around Nightmare Moon, but as she got older she grew used to it during her aunt's visits.

"Sorry," Twilight apologized. "Goodnight Nightmare Moon."

Luna accepted the statement and walked off to find her room, with her dusty blue mane trailing behind. Twilight continued to walk to her room, she trotted up the crystal staircase and walked through the hall filled with light. Twilight found her mother about to go into her room, the Queen turned to face her daughter. And have her a gentle smile, one that warmed the young Princesses heart.

"Goodnight Twilight dear. Sweet dreams...."

The Princess nodded, "Thank you, Mother I wish you pleasant dreams as well."

The two royals opened the doors got their quarters and shut them in unison with a loud slam. Twilight crawled into her warm, soft bed. She pulled the blankets over her body, and put her head on a giant pillow. Using her magic the Princess shut off all the lights in her room. Slowly a deep sleep fell over her and her eyes shut gently. Just as she fell asleep, Spike walked in. He didn't want to wake her so he quietly tiptoed over to his bed and crawled in. He pulled his tiny blanket over his scaly body and fell asleep.

Princess Twilight found herself surrounded by fog. It clouded around her and trapped her. The ground felt cold and the moon was out, it was just barely visible through the thick fog.

"Where am I?" Twilight asked herself.

Suddenly part of the fog cleared allowing Twilight to walk deeper into the rest of the cloud. She felt herself bump into something hard. She backed up and rubbed her head, she looked up to see a giant stone statue in front her. It didn't look like anything she had ever seen. It was a creature that was tall and slender, and it looked like it had body parts made up of different animals.

"What is this?" Twilight asked herself, by before she could do anything she heard a voice. It was quiet but calming.

"Twilight Sparkle......." The voice whispered.

"Who's there?" Twilight called out

"Twilight......."

The Princess looked up at the statue. The sky began to turn a dark shade of red, then she saw the statue was breaking. Small cracks began to form, the voice got louder.

"Come to me Twilight....."

Twilight Sparkle began to get nervous. This was beginning to scare her. The statue was now even more cracked apart. The lines glowed a bright red. And the creatures eyes began to glow. The voice got louder.

"Come to ME Twilight Sparkle!"

Twilight was now truly terrified, the creature was beginning to break of parts of stone still holding on to his body. She could make out an eagle claw and a lion paw that had broken away. The Princess began to run into the fog, anything to get her away. Then she stopped, she could hear the sound of a creature walking on the ground.

"Come to me, my dear....." The voice whispered in a soothing tone.

The Princess remained frozen as the voice spoke to her, something about it kept her from moving. She could hear the creature getting closer, yet she stayed put. It was almost as if she wanted to stay where she was. Then it grew silent, Twilight began to wonder why the sound had stopped and where the creature had gone. She quickly got her answer. She felt something pick her up and cover her eyes. It gently caressed her face and put what felt like a claw in her mane.

"Who are you?" Twilight asked. "Show yourself."

But the creature did not listen, it continued to touch her and slowly her body began to relax. Twilight sighed quietly and her eyes began to shut. But she forced them open and broke out of her trance.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Twilight demanded.

Twilight felt whatever that was covering her eyes being taken away. The Princess looked up at who was holding her. What she saw terrified her, it was creature with the most frightening face, it's glowing eyes stared straight into her soul, teeth sharp like knives. Twilight felt so overwhelmed she fainted in the creatures arms. And her world grew pitch black.

Princess Celestia was having a vision, in the dream she saw her kingdom. The ponies were happy and were playing in the meadows, others were walking along the fine cobblestone paths enjoying the company they had. Then everything changed, she saw her daughter and she didn't look like herself. Her coat was much darker, and her eyes had a deep yellow glow.  Standing behind her was a creature so hideous and terrifying, and yet Queen Celestia could see it caressing her face, whispering things into her ear with what looked like a lion paw wrapped around her; gently kissing her forehead. Celestia had never been so terrified or disgusted in her entire life. What came next made everything worse, her kingdom was now filled with chaos and destruction. Everything was turned upside down, and ponies were fleeing with terrified looks on their faces.

"No! What is happening?" Celestia cried.

The Queen gasped in shock as she watched everything being covered in insanity and ugliness. It made tears form in her eyes to see her subjects unhappy. But it made her even more sad to see her only daughter being taken by an awful creature who was overpowering her with his cursed magic. But then Celestia could make out something else. In the shadow of the creature towering over everypony and laughing maniacally; a dark figure lurked, which appeared to look like a pony. Celestia could see nothing more then a blurred outline of the figure.

"What is that?" The Queen asked herself.

The figure moved slowly and when she could see part of it she realized it was a pony. It apparently had a deep blue coat because Celestia had seen it's dark blue muzzle. It looked like a Unicorn but the Queen could have sworn she saw Pegasus wings too. The pony grinned wickedly while looking at the creature, but when it turned away she could see it frown, a slight blush spread across the pony's face followed by a few crystal like tears. The Queen awoke with a small scream.

"Ahh!"

Her sister who had heard the scream and was out on her nightly fly came through the window. She quickly stopped and looked at Celestia.

"Sister, are you alright?"

Celestia eyed her sister, now Nightmare Moon and sighed.

"It's nothing Luna, I was falling asleep and I thought I heard a strange noise, it was only the guards. I can assure you I'm perfectly fine."

Nightmare Moon glared at her sister. After a few moments she nodded. "Very well."

And with that the black Alicorn flew into the night sky once again, Celestia gasped and drew in a large gulp of air. Then she slowly exhaled, and got underneath the blankets once again. What was it that she had just seen? Who was that creature and that pony? And why was her daughter with them in the dream?

The creature holding Princess Twilight Sparkle laughed. So this was her up close, she was rather pretty and was very strong. But she resisted him quite a bit, no matter. He would change that, when she finally came to him and chose to be with him, all of her flaws would be removed.  Soon she would belong to him, but first he needed a way to make a way to put his plan into action. At last when an idea struck him, he gently set the Princess down on the grass. First he needed to put the kingdom under some of his power, then he needed to deal with Queen Celestia. The creature vanished and left the Princess.

"Moonlight dearest, I need you."

Discord called out, in no time at all the Alicorn was in front of him.

"Yes Discord?" She asked, ready to do anything he asked of her. "Is there something you need?"

The Draconequus smirked, she was always ready when called. "Yes there is, tomorrow I have a little task for you to complete, and you must do this before any of those ponies are awake. Do you understand?"

Moonlight Chaos nodded. "Yes my Lord."

Discord walked towards her and quietly told exactly what he wanted her to do. Tomorrow those ponies would be in for a big surprise.

A Kingdom of Darkness

Princess Twilight Sparkle woke up with her heart beating very quickly and her stomach was filled with butterflies. She did not feel very well at all.

"Uhhh, what happened?" She asked herself in a dazed voice.

She remembered seeing something, but she couldn't quite remember. Her memory was blurred and she couldn't think straight. And now the Princess was beginning to get a bit of a headache. Suddenly she heard a knock on her door.

"Um, come in!" Twilight called.

The door opened and Queen Luna came walking in, she had a slight frown on her face.

"Good morning Twilight, I trust you slept well?"

"Um..... sort of....." Twilight responded.

Luna turned towards the window, Twilight did as well. The sky was very dark, it didn't look like storm clouds and it wasn't the middle of the night either. The sky was a dark grey color, despite the fact that it was past sunrise.

"What's happening? What happened to the sky?" Twilight Sparkle asked in confusion.

Queen Luna shook her head. "We are not sure, but Celestia has requested that you join her and your friends with us in the Library."

The Princess nodded. "Of course Aunt Luna, I'll go right now."

The Queen nodded and led her niece out of her room, they both traveled through the hall and down the first set of stairs. Twilight looked at the grandfather clock, the time was nine thirty. She had overslept! Twilight began to pick up the pace, Luna followed behind. When they came to a room with two large wooden oak doors they stepped inside to see Queen Celestia, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie.

"Oh thank goodness your here Twilight darling! Everything is going insane!" Rarity cried dramatically.

"I'll say! Nothing makes sense!" Rainbow Dash added.

Queen Celestia beckoned her daughter to come closer. "Twilight dear, are you feeling alright? You slept awfully late."

The Princess nodded, "Yes Mother I'm fine, I just had a strange dream. But it's nothing to worry about I don't remember much about it anyway."

Celestia gave her a gentle smile a gently touched a small cushion for Twilight to sit on. The young Alicorn walked over towards her mother and sat down. Using her magic the Queen levitated a crystal coated tea pot with a long spout.

"Would you care for some tea Twilight?" Celestia asked.

Twilight nodded in reply. "Yes please, I could use some tea right now."

Celestia poured the hot liquid into a tiny crystal tea cup, and placed it on a saucer embroided in lace. She put a sugar cube inside. Just the way Twilight liked it. The young Princess added some honey into her tea before gently pouring the substance into her mouth. It had such a sweet and bland taste it calmed her nerves.

"What do ya reckon we do yer Majesty?" Applejack asked.

Celestia smiled, as she let everypony get comfortable. Then she cleared her throat and began to speak.

"Before ponies fears get to out of control I suggest Luna, Twilight and myself combine our magic and find a way to push some of the darkness back. That way we will at least be able to see, while we are doing that do you thing the rest of you could look for anything that would lead to the sorce of this magic?"

"Sure thing! It'll be fun!" Pinkie Pie said with a grin.

"I suppose we could try....." Fluttershy quietly remarked.

"Yee haw! Alright, let's do this!" Said Applejack.

"I'm in!" Rainbow added.

"I agree, we can do this! Thank you for your wisdom Queen Celestia." Rarity replied.

The Queen nodded, and so her daughter and her sister were both guided out to the window. Celestia flared her wings open. Twilight Sparkle and Luna did the same, they put their horns together and their eyes began to glow.

Discord was watching the whole meeting unfold with the Queens, the Princess and her friends. Such a naive little pony she was, and he enjoyed it. He watched as the three Alicorns combined their power. Discord chuckled to himself. No matter how much power they had it would not be enough to remove the spell he had ordered Moonlight to put over the whole kingdom.

"Foolish little ponies, when will they learn?"

He turned around to see Moonlight Chaos standing behind him.

"What are you doing in here?" He asked.

"I'm sorry if I was interrupting, I just wanted to know if you needed anything." Moonlight said in a concerned voice.

Discord shook his head in response. "No, I don't need anything right now, you may leave."

He turned back to watch the Alicorns fly up towards the sky. They combined all of their power and sent a large lavender beam of light at the sky, creating many large flashes of lightning towards them. They all flew away in surprise, except for Celestia she had stayed to make sure Twilight and Luna had gotten to safety. A large lightning bolt was beginning to form, Twilight rushed towards her mother and pulled her away just before the bolt hit her. The sky went back to it's grey state, the spell had done nothing. Discord turned towards Moonlight with a shocked look on his face. He walked towards her.

"Did I please you Master?" Moonlight asked.

Discord put his paw under her chin and smiled wickedly.

"Yes my dear, you have pleased me. You have done very well...."

He turned towards the glowing orb. "But that meddling Celestia, we need to take care of her....... permanently......"

Moonlight narrowed her eyes. "What do you need me to do?"

Discord leaned close to her and told her the next part of his plan, by the time he finished Moonlight Chaos knew exactly what to do.

The three Alicorns rushed into the castle almost out of breath. The spell had done nothing, and Celestia had almost gotten seriously hurt. Twilight's friends looked them in shock.

"Oh goodness! Are you all alright?" Fluttershy asked with worry.

The five ponies ran towards them and tried to help them, Rarity and Fluttershy helped Queen Luna, Rainbow Dash and Applejack assisted Queen Celestia, and Pinkie Pie aided Twilight.

"What happened out there?" Rainbow asked.

Queen Celestia sighed. "I'm not sure, the spell didn't work. This doesn't make sense, it has to be some kind of magic. The only question is who's controlling it and where are they?"

The three Alicorns looked out the window along with the five friends, staring out across the Sun Kingdom.

After searching through the books in the libraries all day, everypony was exhausted and they were all sick of looking in book after book only to find nothing. Luna was the first to notice this and she turned to her sister.

"Celestia, I think it would be best if we all got some rest. We have spent all day searching and have found nothing. Let us rest to regain more strength."

The Sun Queen nodded in agreement. "Yes my little ponies, you may go to your rooms and get some sleep. I will continue searching for a little while longer."

Everyone sighed in relief and walked out of the library to get some well deserved rest. As Rarity walked into her room she noticed Twilight had a worried look on her face.

"Twilight dear, are you alright?"

The Princess shook her head and tried to regain her senses.

"Hmmm? Oh I'm fine Rarity really. You don't need to worry about me."

The white Unicorn still looked concern but went into her room and shut her door anyway. Twilight was growing a little concerned, as she crawled into be her mind was flooded with questions. First the dream and now this? What was next?

The Sun Falls

Queen Celestia spent the next half hour, still searching for an answer to figure out what kind of magic was affecting her kingdom. After she still found nothing, and she prepared to go up to her room. She felt tired and she could hear voices in her head. They were whispering awful things to her.

"Give up! Save your breath before things start to get dangerous..."

"Why push yourself so hard only to find failure?"

"You will never be strong enough to defeat us, why destroy what you can create?"

"It would be a shame it something were to happen to you daughter......"

Celestia stopped at the last one. She turned to look out the window, she saw the rest of her kingdom and the forest that surrounded it. Wait! She could see something, what looked like blue light flickering in the distance. Somepony could still be out there, and they might need help! She gasped. The Queen considered telling her sister but there was no time the light was getting dimmer! She opened her white wings and flew out the window.

She soared through the open sky, the light was getting brighter, as she approached it the light became even more clear! She dropped to the grounds, and looked around. She could the light coming from some of the bushes, she pushed them away only to find nothing.

"What! This doesn't make any sense......"

Behind her, the Queen could hear a female voice that sounded cold and hurt.

"Foolish Queen, don't you know things aren't always what they seem?"

Twilight was having the same dream again only this time the creature was holding her. She could feel it's talons running down her neck sending shivers down her body. The creature laughed, and it echoed throughout the distance.

"Who are you?" Twilight demanded.

She got a cold response. "Silly little Princess, you are so naive. But don't worry, we'll fix that soon enough."

Twilight stared into the creatures eyes, and as the lightning flashed she could see his entire face. It scared the Princess out of her mind but she tried to stay strong. Once again she could hear laughter.

"Even you, the great Princess of the Sun Kingdom, look upon me with fear? I excepted more from you dear, considering how kind you can be to others."

Twilight took a deep breath and tried to act brave. "Who are you and what do want with me?" She asked in a slightly nervous tone.

The creature smiled and in the darkness Twilight could see his sharp, pointy teeth. "I am Discord, and you my dear, are by far the loveliest young mare I have ever seen. I want you to be my Queen."

Twilight's eyes widened as she realized what he meant. He wanted her to marry him, Twilight could not imagine spending the rest of her life with someone like him. And now she could see him taking his lion paw and gently running it through her mane. It was making Twilight feel very uncomfortable, and just being in his grasp was already making her trying to resist him as much as possible. She had never such as creature so monstrous and terrifying. Twilight found it quite displeasing to look at.

Discord noticed she was resisting him, and he figured she would but he was determined to change the way she saw him. He was extremely persuasive; he gently touched her head causing her to look him in the eyes. Discord continued to play with her mane and caress her face. His gentle touch slowly began to shut down the Princesse's senses, she turned her complete attention.

"Good girl, learn to listen to the one you love." Discord whispered in her ear.

"Listen....... to the one........ I love.....?" Twilight repeated.

Discord nodded. "Yes, Twilight darling."

Slowly he began to disappear. "Until tomorrow night my love."

"Who are you?" Celestia asked.

The pony slowly stepped in the faint bit of light near the surrounding trees. Celestia gasped as she saw a blue mare step into view. She was an Alicorn and taller then Celestia. Her cutie mark showed a moon covering half a sun. On the moon side their were pink clouds resembling cotton candy, on the side of the sun their were shimmering stars. She had pale blue eyeshadow over both eyes and she looked a bit tired.

" I am here to bring your reign of peace to an end!" The blue Alicorn said as she sent a light blue beam of light towards Celestia.

The Queen was able to avoid it, but just barely. She began to fly away trying to do anything to get away from her. But because the pony also had so wings she followed her, still trying to hit her. Celestia stopped and turned to face the Alicorn. She could see that this pony must have been through something awful in order to have such insane and fierce actions.

"Please stop this!" The Queen cried. "Come back to the Kingdom with me, we can help you with whatever is troubling you."

But the Alicorn shook her head. "No you can't. You and your precious ponies will never be able to help me, especially not after what you have done...." Once again she sent more beams towards Celestia.

At one time Celestia was not fast enough and not careful and one of the blasts hit her wing. Causing her white feathers to turn a black color, and her wing had been bent a little. She looked at the Alicorn with terrified eyes.

Twilight awoke to the sound of screams. She looked outside to see her mother outside facing somepony she had never seen before. Then she saw her mother being struck in the wing with a beam of light. Twilight rushed out of her bed and ran to save her mother.

Queen Celestia gazed at the Alicorn in terror.

"You will never now what true pain feels like, to have have everything you love being hated. To have hundreds of ponies never accept you for who you are, and to have them take who you love the most...."

Celestia took one glance at her red eyes and then it hit her. She knew who this pony was referring to, and she never expected him to still be out there.

"You all tried to destroy him!" The Alicorn yelled.

Queen Celestia felt the beam hit her and knocked her through the glass dome of the castle ceiling. She screamed as she fell to the ground and hit the floor hard. She heard a maniacal laugh echo throughout the whole castle it was loud, and scary. Then her eyes began to close. But she could hear hoof steps getting closer. Celestia saw her daughter who looked at her with worry.

"Mother! Are you alright?" Twilight asked.

Celestia couldn't answer for she was too weak. Twilight grew upset, and she began to scream.

"Who did this to you?!"

Celestia only gave her one answer. And it was very quiet.

"Chaos......"

Then Celestia shut her eyes. Twilight put her head against her mothers chest but then she heard something that brought tears to her eyes. It was silence, Twilight could not hear her mothers heart. Twilight looked at the Queen and tears poured out onto the ground. Queen Celestia was dead.

"Mother...... please......." Twilight stuttered.

Luna looked down at her sister in shock. Who could have done this? Who would be so full of anger and rage to take her sister away? A tear began to form in the Queens eye.

While Twilight was weeping she heard dark laughter.

"This is only the beginning, you will belong to me, my Queen...."

When Discord saw Twilight crying over the death of Celestia, he giggled. It was such a glorious sight, pain was the beginning of chaos. Just then the doors to the throne room opened opened and Moonlight Chaos walked in.

"I have done what you asked, Discord my Lord."

The Draconequus nodded. "Yes, and you have pleased me, my dear. I am proud of you."

Moonlight Chaos gave him a wicked grin. To which Discord responded with maniacal laughter and rang throughout the old castle. Queen Celestia was dead, and now he was a lot closer to claiming his Queen, soon Princess Twilight would be his.

When the Moon Rises

Queen Luna stepped onto the balcony her sister formerly stood on to raise the sun. Tears formed in her eyes as she used her Unicorn magic to raise the moon. She had already transformed into Nightmare Moon.

"Chaos....."

Those were the last words Celestia had said before she....... What did it mean? Luna had remembered hearing somepony laughing. It sounded like a mare's laughter. As the moon took it's place in the sky the Queen turned to go inside, she had a lot to think about. As she entered the castle she found Twilight and her friends. The Princess was crying.

"Don't worry Twilight, everythin' is gonna be alright." Applejack tried to assure her.

"Oh Twilight, I feel just awful..... I'm so sorry...." Fluttershy added.

Princess Twilight brushed away the tears in her eyes. "Thank you for trying to help Applejack and Fluttershy. I just.......never expected something like this to happen. Mother cared for me in every possible way, and she was kind to everyone. I miss her......"

"Yeah, we know Twilight. But don't worry, whoever did this is going to regret messing with us, we'll make sure of that!" Rainbow Dash responded.

Queen Luna could see that they were all distressed. "Alright everyone, we believe it's time you all got some sleep."

Twilight and her friends nodded. And they all walked out of the room and into their bedrooms. When Twilight got I to her room she locked the door and began to cry again. Spike tried to cheer her up.

"At least you still have me! Don't cry Twilight, everything will get better I promise." The dragon said.

The Princess sighed. Before she could say anything a burst of green flame came out of Spikes mouth. A letter appeared. Twilight read the writing on the scroll.

My dearest Twilight,

I heard about the news of your mother, Queen Celestia. I am terribly sorry for your loss, and hope that you are not too troubled. I will be visiting for the next two days and shall arrive around noon tomorrow. I cannot wait to see you again. Once again, I apologize for your loss. I will do everything I can to help you through this.

      Sincerely Prince Sombra

Twilight smiled a little after reading Sombra's letter. It made her feel better knowing he was going to visit. Being around him made Twilight feel so free and happy. He was someone she could be herself around besides her friends without making herself look too silly. Besides she needed just about anything to help her get her mother out of her head for a while. The Princess sighed and fell onto her bed. She closed her eyes for a moment and saw the creature from her nightmares. She immediately opened her eyes and gasped, when she saw nopony except for Spike she laid down on her bed and curled up underneath her blankets.

Discord watched as Twilight fell asleep, with tears in her eyes. He smiled.

"Oh, no need to cry my Princess. I shall make all the pain to away, now that I have Celestia out of the way there will be no stopping me from getting to you."

Moonlight Chaos glared at him from the corner of the room. She sighed and turned away from him. She liked being around Discord, and she enjoyed seeing him pleased when she served him. Moonlight knew that Discord wanted the Princess, Twilight Sparkle, and she was going to help him. So why did part of her feel hurt knowing this? Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard Discord call her.

"Moonlight dear?"

The blue Alicorn pushed aside her feelings and thoughts and approached Discord.

"Yes Discord?"

"How far are you willing to go?" The Draconequus asked.

"I'm afraid I don't understand my Lord."

Discord put his paw under her chin. "How far are you willing to go, to serve me? To please me?"

"As far as it takes Discord." Moonlight Chaos replied.

"Good, I have another task for you my dear."

Moonlight nodded and paid close attention to what Discord told her.

"Tomorrow the Princesses fiancé, will be visiting. As soon as he arrives, I want you to watch him, bring back information for me. Then, I want you to get rid of him. You may do whatever you please, but I need you to have him gone by the day after tomorrow. Do you understand?"

"Yes Discord, I understand."

"You are always so loyal," Discord said. "So obedient, and respectful of me. What would I do without you?"

The Draconequus smiled deviously and turned away. Moonlight walked out of the room and shut the door. She felt her face burning.

"What is the matter with me!" Moonlight said quietly. "I always act so foolish around him! Why can't I ever do anything right? It's not like I'm in love with him......"

Queen Luna considered every possible option. Who could have been so cruel and heartless as to take away her sister's life? It didn't make any sense, nopony in the Sun or Moon Kingdom acted that way. Chaos.....

What did it mean? Luna felt as if she had heard that word before, but she did not know what it meant. She used her magic to pull out a large dictionary from one of the shelves in the library. She flipped through the pages until she came to the word she was looking for.

Chaos: A state of confusion and disorder.

That was it? There had to be more then that! Chaos...... Now the Queen was certain she knew this word, it described someone very well. But who it was, she couldn't quite remember. She pulled out piles of books and for the next two hours she continued to search for more information. But to her dismay, she found nothing. With a sigh she returned all the books to their proper place. Just as she was getting ready to go to her room, she stopped. For some reason, Luna was getting a strange feeling she was being watched. The strangest things were happening ever since she had arrived. Luna quickly checked the library and when she found nothing she left the room full of books. There was something she hadn't found yet, something important; and one way or another she promised she would end it.

Twilight found herself surrounded by darkness. Chills and cold feelings brushed up against her coat, causing the Princess to shiver. The next she thing she knew, Twilight heard a familiar voice which laughed at her.

"Poor little Princess, it must feel devastating having your mother being taken away from you.

Twilight recognized the voice, it belonged to the creature that she had seen in her dreams! Discord!

"What so you want from me?" She asked.

"I am here to help you dearest; to make the pain go away. I'm here to give you something to love once again, to have someone to trust......"

"And how can you help me?" Twilight asked in a nervous and sad tone.

"Come to me and I'll show you......"

But the Princess shook her head. "No, if you really want me to trust you, come to me. Show me that your not as monstrous as you appear."

Strangely enough the voice agreed. "As you wish....."

Twilight Sparkle tried to prepare herself for what she was about to see, but it was no use. The creature slithered from out of the darkness surrounding her. His disordered body made the Princess cringe. It was awful! The Draconequus stood before her, towering over her. Suddenly Twilight watched as a clear full moon glowed in the distance.

"Hello Princess Twilight....."

The Princess took on look into Discord's eyes. And she knew what had happened.

"You! You......killed my mother........."

"Well, not necessarliy my dear," Discord replied. "It was my plan, and I made sure it was carried out; but I'm not the one who took her life away."

Discord turned around and looked into the darkness. Twilight watched as a tall, blue Alicorn stepped out of the darkness. She had an evil smile on her face, and looked almost as scary as Discord. She had sharp fangs and glowing red eyes. Her horn was tall and pointed, and she had a cutie mark of a moon covering half of a celestial sun. On the side of the sun, there were stars and on the moon there were pink clouds.

"May I have the honor of introducing to you, Princess, Moonlight Chaos....."

The Prince of Shadows and the King of Chaos

Twilight woke up slowly. She moaned and tried to clear her head. Last night she had once again been visited by Discord. And this time now she had met a pony named Moonlight Chaos. Now what was going to happen? Was she going to take her aunt away too? The Princess rolled over to the other side of her bed and saw Spike staring at her.

"Uh, good morning Twilight."

"Good morning Spike, if it is morning anyway...."

"Yeah, well everypony is in the dinning hall having breakfast; Oh! And Prince Sombra is down there too!"

At the mention of Prince Sombra Twilight perked up. "Spike! Why didn't you wake me up earlier?"

The Princess rushed out of the room and down the staircase. When she came to the silver doors open ing up to the dinning hall, she stopped, took a deep breath, and went inside. She found all her friends around the Prince, except for Luna. When Sombra noticed Twilight he walked towards her, and smiled.

"Twilight Sparkle, good morning...."

"Um, good morning..... It's so nice to see you again."

Sombra's smile grew bigger. "Indeed, I couldn't wait to see you again. And I also brought a few gifts for you with me."

"Oh Sombra, you shouldn't have! I'm not worth it!" The Princess replied in awe.

"Nonsense, you are and beautiful and smart pony; a princess at that! You deserve to be treated, besides these are just early wedding gifts."

Sombra stompedhis hoof on the ground and three servants came in and brought in six small gifts wrapped very neatly. Rarity sighed at the sight of them; four of them were embroided in jewels and lace. One was covered in a sparkly texture, and one was wrapped in a fine white cloth. Twilight shook her head.

"Sombra, they are all beautiful; I haven't even seen what's inside yet! I can't accept this...."

But Sombra refused to take no for an answer. "I am not leaving this room until you open all of them, and I expect you to keep all of them."

Twilight giggled. Sombra could be a bit stubborn at times, and he was always so generous. "Very well Sombra."

Pinkie Pie smiled. "Come on Twilight! These are your presents, open them!"

Everyone gathered around the Princess and watched as she unwrapped one the gifts. Inside was a small, solid gold statue of a sun, with Twilight's cutie mark on it.

"Sombra, it's beautiful....."

The Prince nodded. "Yes, but it's being given to someone much more beautiful."

Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy sighed. "Awww!"

Twilight chose the next gift that was covered in the glittery case. She took the top off and found inside was a small pile of very expensive jewelry. Rarity gasped at the sight.

"Good heavens, Prince Sombra! Where in the wide world of Equestria did you get those beautiful prices of jewelry? They look fabulous!"

"I had them specially made by the finest jewelry maker in the Crystal Kindgom." Sombra replied with pride.

The next present from the Prince was three dresses made from the finest cloth and silk. Fluttershy smiled at the sight of them while Rarity was about to faint.

"Oh my, the dresses are so lovely. Prince Sombra, you are so generous!"

"Thank you Fluttershy, it's not hard to see why they call you such a kind spirit." Prince Sombra complemented.

This caused Fluttershy to blush, while Twilight moved onto the fourth gift. This was Twilights favorite; two whole sets of brand new books! Twilight squealed with joy.

"Sombra! Where did you get do many books?!"

The Prince smiled. "These books are all first edition of a brand new series that won't be released until the next six months! I knew you would like them, I know how you are about books!"

The fifth present was flowers wrapped in the white cloth. Sombra told her that these were very rare flowers that never grew old and died. There were purple flowers and pink flowers, red and blue flowers, and there were even a few black flowers.

"Well, I'll be..... Ah've never seen anythin' like it!" Applejack remarked.

"Mmmm! And they smell so prettyful!" Pinkie Pie added.

The last gift was small, but it was one of the best presents of all. Twilight found inside was a tiny lavender and black book. Both Twilight and Sombra's signature colors. Twilight found inside the pages were all blank and new.

"Sombra, what is this book for?" The Princess asked.

"Allow me to show you," The Prince said.

He used his magic to make th book become bigger, it grew three times it's original size! Sombra began flipping through the pages. "It is for you to write down all your own stories and adventures; I will be sharing this book with you. It's for after we are married."

Twilight felt tears of happiness form in her eyes. She hugged Prince Sombra. "Oh thank you Sombra! I love the gifts. Thank you so much!"

Then Prince Sombra and Princess Twilight Sparkle both shared a small kiss. Queen Luna smiled at the young pair. She had always dreamed of seeing her niece finding happiness with someone she loved, as she once did long ago. Since Luna never had any children she never could experience the joy of watching her own foals grow up and go through the wonderful journey of life.

Afterwards she said, "Twilight, why don't you take Sombra out into the gardens; I'm sure your friends would love to join you. Besides, we have something we must attend to first. Then later I'm certain lunch will be served."

The Princess nodded. "Of course Aunt Luna!"

Twilight and her friends trotted out of the dinning hall and into the garden, Sombra stayed behind.

"Queen Luna? May I have a word with you?"

Luna nodded. "Of course young prince; what do you need?"

Prince Sombra looked up at the Queen. "Is something troubling you? You seem a bit worried...."

Queen Luna simply shook her head. "No, we are fine, we can assure you. Go into the garden, and spend time with Twilight. We shall join you momentarily."

The Prince nodded. "Very well, your Highness."

As the Prince turned and left Luna sighed. There was a lot that was troubling her and she needed information. Fast.....

Moonlight was about ready to fall asleep from boredom. All anyone was doing was watching the Princess opening the gifts that Prince Sombra had given her. When she had finished and were heading out to the garden she sighed.

"Finally!"

She flew around to other side of the castle where the garden was. It was completely different from the kind of plants Moonlight was used to; plunder vines, and more oddly shaped plants. If there were any flowers they were either dark colors or almost dead. She slowly moved along the thick vines and hedges along the side of castle. They all had such strange scents, some of them didn't smell quite bad, they were fresh and clean. Others had strong, scents that the blue Alicorn didn't like and stayed away from. Finally she spotted Princess Twilight and Prince Sombra walking around the areas with the plants that had strange smells. Moonlight watched as Twilight sniffed a small patch of what looked like weeds.

"Mmmm, Rosemary!" The Princess said.

Moonlight made a disgusted face. Yuck! What was she doing?

Prince Sombra walked towards an area filled with blue and purple flowers.

"These are new, when did you have this part of the garden made?"

Twilight smiled. "About three weeks ago, a few days after you left from your last visit. They are called Forget-Me-Nots I believe."

The two walked towards a large tree with sagging branches, creating a small closed in area. Prince Sombra parted the branches and allowed Twilight to walk through he quickly followed behind. Moonlight dove out of the plants and flew up to the higher branches and watched them from above. The inside was huge! The branches had tiny crystals growing on separate branches giving the tree a dim glow. Surrounding the trunk of the tree was a large pond, filly with small lilly pads with small fish swimming around. Prince Sombra and Princess Twilight sat at the edge of the pond.

"This is one of the most beautiful places in the garden..." Twilight sighed.

"I can agree, though it may look like an old tree on the outside, it has sparkling treasures on the inside." Sombra added.

"That's one of the reasons I fell in love with you, though you came from a kingdom with slightly darker accustoms, you still treated me with kindness, and you can see beauty in things most ponies can't."

  Prince Sombra wrapped his hoof around the young princess.

"I'm glad you came Sombra, it really makes me feel better knowing your here." Twilight said.

"That's all I want; knowing your safe and happy is good enough for me. And soon you and I will be together and nothing will get between us." Sombra replied.

Moonlight Chaos noted everything that happened. She watched as the two walked back outside and finished walking around the garden. She watched how the Prince knew every one of Twilight's favorite kinds of flowers. The Alicorn watched the two for so long she was beginning to get leaves and petals in her hair. After thy went throught the whole garden they rested on the soft grass. Twilight used her magic to bring a few books out. They read to each other and told stories, Moonlight watched and noticed how close they were to each other.

"Hey Twilight!" Pinkie Pie called out.

Moonlight went deeper into the plants as soon as the Princesses friends came over.

"We were wondering if you wanted to play a game with us?" Rainbow asked. Then She turned to the Prince. "Oh! Your welcome to join us too; that is if you want to."

Twilight turned towards Sombra. The Unicorn Prince considered the offer, then smiled. "Why not?"

The smile on Twilight's face grew bigger every minute she spent with him.

Moonlight Chaos decided this was her cue to leave. She climbed out of the flowers and vines. And flew past the Sun Kingdom, and into the Everfree Forest. She moved swiftly throught the narrow and barely visible path. Just as she reached the old castle where Discord was, she heard a crackling sound. The Alicorn turned around and narrowed her eyes. Suddenly a Timberwolf leaped out of the bushes, Moonlight growled at the creature showing him her fangs. Her screech caused the creature to back away and run. The blue Alicorn shook her head and smiled.

"Timberwolves......"

She flew in through the doors and down the hall, she found the long staircase that lead her down into the room Discord told her to meet him in. She found him waiting for her holding a tall, thin candlestick.

"What did you find?"

Moonlight sighed. "Most of what they did was a lot of boring things. The Prince brought her gifts, they went outside and talked to each other. The Princess kept talking about how she loved because he was so generous and could see beauty in life. Then her meddling friends came and they began playing and they were talking to each other for the rest of the evening."

Discord smiled deviously. Then he stopped, he looked up at inhaled through his nose. He turned to Moonlight and took a small part of her hair and gently sniffed it. Moonlight tried to hide her face; she was beginning to blush.

"Sorry, I had to hide among the plants. They were in the garden most of the time."

Discord gave her a slightly confused look. Then he quickly flew out of the room. This caused the Alicorn to fly towards a nearby wall and purposely smack her face against it.

"Ugh, why am I so stupid?"

She banged her head against the wall again.

"I can't do anything right."

Discord flew back into the throne room. Something wasn't right, he wasn't quite feeling like himself. He had left the room because he didn't want Moonlight to see he was beginning to turn red. Discord had no idea why, nothing like this had ever happened before. He had lived with her almost all his life, she didn't annoy him, and she was someone he could talk to. She did as she was told and she respected him. But just now when he had smelled the scent that was in her hair. It was a new scent he had never known, it gave Moonlight's hair a fresh scent that he rather liked. Something turned on that he never noticed before.Thinking about it made him turn red again. When he realized it was happening again he shook his head. Once again he held out his claw in front of him and made an image of Twilight appear, draining the thoughts he felt a few moments ago.

"Moonlight!" He called.

In less then a minute Moonlight was right behind him. "Yes Discord?"

"You have done enough for me for now. Get some rest, this evening I have another job for you."

Moonlight nodded. "Yes Discord."

After she left the Draconequus laughed. Prince Sombra was hardly a threat to him at all! The more Discord began to think about it, the Prince could actually be useful for the next phase of his plan. He would have to do this as soon as the moon was in the sky, that's when Moonlight's power was at it's greatest; at sunrise and at moonrise. The only problem was that's when Queen Luna turned into Nightmare Moon, that's when her power was at its greatest. But her magic only lasted half the night while Moonlight's lasted until after sunrise. Slowly a new plan began to form in his head. This time he was going to lead the Princess into the forest, and he, himself would guide her the rest of the way.

"Soon little Princess....."

Twilight looked up at the sky, just barely she could make out the sun!

"Everypony look! The dark clouds are starting to disappear!"

Everyone looked up at the sky and saw the sun. They all cheered, it was now sunset! And soon the moon would be in the sky.

Just then Luna came down, "Twilight, it's almost ten; you, your friends, and Prince Sombra should get some rest. Besides we have to lower the moon very soon."

The Queen of the Night guided the seven ponies into the castle, as soon as she knew her niece and her friends were asleep she led Prince Sombra into an empty bedroom not very far from Twilight's.

"Thank you Queen Luna."

"Your welcome young Prince Sombra. Pleasant dreams." Luna replied.

As soon as Prince Sombra was in his room Luna went outside. Strangely enough most of the clouds were now gone! Raising the sun had been a bit more difficult for the past few days, but she would get it soon enough. Besides now it was time for her to raise the moon, she flapped her wings and used her Unicorn magic to push the sun down and raise the glowing moon. The stars twinkled behind. Luna looked at herself to discover she was now Nightmare Moon, as usual. The black Alicorn walked inside to get a little more rest, before sunrise she wanted to look up a little more information about what her sister had said.

Under the Spell of Chaos

Moonlight flew into the castle, just as the last bit of the dark clouds faded it put a sleep spell on everyone in the Sun Kingdom. She walked past two guards that had fallen asleep standing up and one of them was snoring. She made her way up the crystal staircase and into the room of her first victim. Tonight Discord was going to claim Princess Twilight Sparkle, he had every spell prepared and every part of his plan thought out. The blue Alicorn walked into the bedroom of Rarity, the Unicorn was fast asleep. Moonlight cast her first spell causing all the color on Rarity to vanish.

"Mmm? Oh yes darling, that goes on the right shelf...." Rarity mumbled in her sleep.

Moonlight quickly flew out of Rarity's room and into Applejacks, doing the same thing, she proceeded to do the same thing with all the rest of the Princesses friends. Just as she finished with Fluttershy, Moonlight entered Twilight's bedroom. Careful not to disturb the baby dragon who asleep next to her Moonlight looked at Twilight's face, to make sure she was sleeping; and sure enough the Princess was in a very deep sleep. Moonlight Chaos smiled wickedly and disappeared in a flash. She reappeared in the middle of the Everfree Forest, with Discord waiting.

"Everything is ready my Lord."

"Did you make sure that the Princess and the Queen were sleeping as well?"

"Yes Discord, everyone in the Sun Kingdom is sleeping."

The chaotic Draconequus rubbed his paw and eagle claw together deviously.

"Perfect, I will be back momentarily. You know what to do....."

Princess Twilight was scared. Once again, Discord was in front of her. Calling to her.

"Leave me alone!" Twilight screamed. "I don't want you here!"

"I'm sorry to say this dear; but I'm not leaving. Well, not without you...."

Twilight stomped her hoof. "When Aunt Luna and my friends find you, at this rate you'll be turned to stone!"

The Draconequus cackled with laughter and wiped a tear from his eye. "Oh, you really believe your so called friends, will be here to help you?"

Twilight nodded. "Friendship is the most powerful magic in the universe, and it can defeat any problem or threat, including YOU."

"Well, I could be wrong dear Princess, but the last time I checked in order to have friendship, you need friends."

Discord pointed towards the distance, and Twilight saw something she never would have expected to see in her entire life. There were her friends, only they weren't. Every single one of them now looked gray, some of them had evil smiles on their faces, and some of them looked angry and aggressive. Twilight felt tears beginning to form.

"You monster! What did you do to them this time?"

Discord looked hurt. "Monster? Now that's a bit harsh....... Hmmm, you seem to like learning so my dear, prepare for a quick lesson...."

Out of nowhere a floating blackboard appeared with writing on it, and Discord was looking through a dictionary.

"The exact, and technical definition of the word: monster, is an imaginary being of something horribly ugly or vicious; something evil."

The words appeared on the blackboard boldly for the Princess to read. Then everything disappeared, Discord smirked.

"And I can tell you, for one thing, I am not imaginary, and I am not vicious unless threatened."

"But you are a cruel, evil creature....." The Princess replied. "Stop wasting my time and give me my friends back!"

But Discord didn't listen, instead he crawled towards her and whispered into her ear.

"Why have your friends when I can give you back your mother......"

Twilight stopped. "Mother......?"

"Yes," Discord lied. "Don't you want to see her again; to be happy with the one you love?"

The Princess was becoming so overwhelmed and so confused, she began to say things that didn't make much sense. "Who I love....?"

"I love you Twilight..... You can trust me....."

"Sombra? He doesn't love me anymore?" Twilight whimpered.

"No," Discord replied. "He never did. He tricked you, and played with your emotions..... But if you come with me, you can be happy....."

"I.....can....?"

"Of course my dear, you can be free, forever........"

Discord'a words stung like poison, but in a way it made Twilight feel better. He was right, her friends were now cruel, lying, traitors. Her mother was gone and Prince Sombra didn't care about her......

Discord smiled as Twilight believed all his lies, her eyes went from their purple color to a swirly colorful pattern, hypnotizing her. When he saw she was completely under his power he vanished.

Discord returned to the forest to find Moonlight waiting for her.

"She is under the spell. Guide her here, I do not want anyone to interfere. Make sure NOBODY follows....."

Moonlight sighed. "Yes Discord....."

Just then Discord noticed Moonlight Chaos didn't sound like herself. She sounded different....

"Moonlight dear, are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm fine.

"Are you certain?" Discord asked. Though her face didn't give him many clues, her eyes did. And they looked hurt.

"Yes Discord..... I'm sure....."

"Moonlight Chaos," Discord turned her around and looked directly at her. "You can lie to as many ponies as you want as many times as you want, but you WILL NOT lie to me......."

"I SAID I'M FINE!" Moonlight snapped. As soon as she did that she gasped, realizing what she had done.

Discord was shocked too, she never raised her voice, and she never yelled at him once. He could see her eyes tearing up. Then without warning, Moonlight kissed him. She pulled away quickly and looked embarrassed.

"I'm sorry, I won't do that again...... I need to bring her......."

Very quickly the blue Alicorn was in the sky. Discord stood still for a few moments trying to take in what just happened. First she yelled at him for the first time in her life, and then she kissed him.... Never in his entire life had Discord been willingly kissed before. Moonlight was beginning to confuse him more then ever.

Twilight arose from her bed, colorful spirals swirled in her eyes. She almost looked like a zombie, walking out of her bedroom and through the castle in a slow manner. When she came outside she flew and went much faster, the Princess could see a silhouette in the moonlight guiding her though the forest. When she could no longer see the silhouette, she knew she was in the right place. In the distance she could see Discord.

The Draconequus walked towards her, "Follow me....."

The young Princess did as she was told and followed him through the rest of the forest. They eventually came towards the old castle that Discord and Moonlight Chaos had lived in.

Discord picked the young pony up and said, "Go to sleep my dear, we'll talk later when you are awake."

Twilight fell quickly asleep with the help of Discord magic, the Draconequus carried her inside and waited for Moonlight to return, he had something he wanted to discuss with her as well when she got back.

Discord waited for Moonlight to return; where was she? He was about to start looking for her when he heard noises coming from her room. He slowly opened the door to find the blue Alicorn crying, she had gotten in without him knowing. Discord walked towards her.

"Moonlight, my dear, why are you crying?"

As soon as she saw him she tried to move away from him.

"D-d-discord..... I'm sorry..... I s-shouldn't have kissed you like that...... Especially because your in love with the Princess."

She sighed, but strangely enough smiled a little. "It doesn't matter though, you have her here now. I'll just work twice as hard...."

Moonlight tried to stand up but Discord pushed her down.

"Your not going anywhere, and you aren't working. I want answers...."

Moonlight looked up at him, Discrd could see that hurt feeling in her eyes again.

"You want to please me? Then I want the absolute truth from you."

The Alicorn nodded slowly. "A-alright....."

Discord had a serious expression on his face. "Moonlight Chaos, are you in love with me?"

The Draconequus took one look at her face, and he knew the answer instantly.

Back at the castle of the Sun Kingdom Prince Sombra woke up to find it very quiet. Too quiet, he climbed out of his bed and went to check on Twilight, through the light of the moon Sombra noticed her bed was empty. The Princess was gone! He raced out of her room and found Queen Luna, strangely no longer Nightmare Moon.

"Queen Luna, Twilight is gone!"

Luna's eyes widened in shock. "That's not possible! Are you sure she's not anywhere in the castle?"

Sombra shook his head. "I've checked every room. And something is wrong with her friends as well! They have grey coats and look like they are under a spell! It's all chaos!"

At the mention of chaos, Luna became terrified. "Oh no! HE'S back, and he's captured my niece! How could I not have seen this, the answer was in our face this whole time!"

The Prince was confused. "Who's back, your Highness? Who are you speaking of?"

Luna shook her head. "An old foe.... Sombra, do you love my niece?"

Prince Sombra nodded. "Yes, more then anything!"

The Queen nodded. "Good, then you must be prepared for what you are about to face...."

"What will I be faced with?"

"A creature with a heart as cold as stone, a beast so terrifying and cruel that he once in fact ruled over all of Equestria and put the land in a state of chaos and unhappiness. His reign of insanity lasted almost two hundred years! Be warned; he knows your greatest fears and weaknesses. This is one of the most evil and wicked villains you will get come across."

Sombra nodded. "Of course, I understand...."

The Queen nodded. "Good, now come with me have no time to lose. We must reverse the spell he put on her friends first, then we must go after her immediatley. The longer Twilight stays with that beast, the more effective his spell on her becomes!"

"Moonlight Chaos, are you in love with me?"

For a moment Moonlight was silent. Then she answered, softly.

"Yes........"

After she said that, she turned her face away. Discord on the other hoof flew right up to her face.

"Oh Moonlight, why didn't you tell me?"

The blue Alicorn shook her head. "Like I said, it didn't matter. You are in love with Princess Twilight.... Besides, you don't deserve to be with someone like me." Then she sighed. "I'm too clumsy, and I'm certain there are hundreds of other mares in Equestria that are prettier then me. Seeing you happy and knowing that I can serve you is enough for me, it makes me happy."

After a moment of silence Moonlight continued.

"I enjoy serving you, I enjoy being here when you need to talk to me. I've never in my entire life, met someone like you. And although I may be in love with you, it's not about what makes me happy. Just as long as you are with the one you love; it's about what makes YOU happy Discord."

The Draconequus was stunned. Never before had anyone said something like that to him.

Just then a loud voice boomed out from outside.

"DISCORD! YOU EVIL ABOMINATION, GIVE US BACK TWILIGHT SPARKLE! THOU SHALT BE LUCKY IF THOU SEE ANOTHER SUNRISE!"

Moonlight looked prepared to face what was outside. But Discord stopped her.

"You are staying here. I will deal with this, you have helped me enough."

As soon as he left Moonlight began to panic. This wasn't the first time she had heard that voice before, and she knew what Luna was capable of doing. If Discord really wasn't careful, like she had stated, he might not see the next sunrise....

Luna's Loss and Discord's Regret

Discord flew out of the old castle and found himself facing an old enemy. It was none other then Queen Luna. She and her sister had started the uprising of ponies who had overthrew him.

"Well, well, look who finally showed up! It's been a while Luna...."

The Queen of the Night grit her teeth. "DO NOT TEST OUR PATIENCE DISCORD! RETURN TWILIGHT TO US! ISN'T IT ENOUGH THAT THOU HAS TAKEN AWAY OUR SISTERS LIFE?"

Discord rolled his eyes. "Isn't it enough that you and your sister took away my kingdom and have forced me to fend for myself here in this rotting castle you and your sister once shared?" He said in a calm tone.

Luna narrowed her eyes. "You placed the entire kingdom in a state of unhappiness and destruction for almost two hundred years Discord!"

The Draconequus was a bit surprised seeing that the Queen had lost her 'Old English' speech.

"I prefer calling it 'reorganizing the place' or simply put chaos."

Then he noticed Prince Sombra standing behind the Queen. Discord smirked.

"I see you brought Prince Shadow......"

Luna growled. "Enough games Discord. I know you have Twilight Sparkle in your captivity, and I will not hesitate to fight you."

"Do you really wish to fight me Luna, I thought you ponies were all about love and harmony?"

Pushing Luna's temper over the edge the night Alicorn sent a beam of light from her horn towards the Draconequus who just barely dodged it. Her anger grew, and she sent three more beams towards him. One of them knocking Discord down. Luna was about to attack when Sombra interfered.

"Luna! Your power is greater, use it to find Twilight! I'll continue to fight this monster.."

At first Luna was hesitant, but she agreed. "Very well, but remember what I told you. You know what he can do, show no mercy....."

With that the blue Alicorn flew in through the doors. Just as Discord got up he noticed her enter, he wasn't too worried, Moonlight was powerful enough to face her if necessary. Now he had this thorn in his side to deal with.

"So Sombra? How does it feel, knowing Twilight's in there? Anything could be happening......"

The Prince began to use his magic to make small crystal shards appear. "Silence you beast!"

Using his magic he sent the crystal shards towards Discord, who only swatted them away.

"Is that the best you can do?" Discord asked smugly.

Prince Sombra sent more batches of crystals, these were bigger then the first and had much more density with very sharp ends. Which once again Discord was unharmed by.

"Better! Now let's see what you can really do with that power..... You want your Princess back don't you?"

And with that Sombra let all of his anger and rage forth.

"Twilight! Twilight!" Luna called desperately. Wherever Discord had hidden her, he had hidden her well.

The Queen started at the bottom of the castle where the dungeon was. It made the most sense as to where she would be hidden but to her dismay; Twilight was nowhere in sight. Next she tried the towers, which were indeed very old and were falling apart. There were mice everywhere! She searched every inch in all six towers but Twilight was still missing. The Queen was beginning to get very anxious and worried.

"TWILIGHT! Can you hear me!"

But there was still no answer. Suddenly a loud crash could be heard, Sombra and Discord were fighting hard. But even Luna knew Discord was more powerful then the Prince. She had to find Twilight fast! Next Luna checked the main floor, starting with the throne room. There she could see the spots where she and Celestia once sat. She looked behind everything, and even looked in very strange places, but this was Discord's realm now, and nothing made sense here. She moved into the hallway, and looked in every room. She even found Celestia's old bedroom, she had been given a large bedroom with a desk, many bookshelves, and large cozy bed. She could tell by the way it looked, this was now Discord's bedroom. The room was full of color, streamers and cotton candy clouds were everywhere. Some of the old books were open on the desk with a purple ink filled inkwell. As soon as Luna left the room she heard a small noise, she moved into the next room; it was her old bedroom. As a filly Luna had been given a very small room, but she had made it work, and made it even better then Celestia's. but now as she began to look into it, the room look old and not as wonderful as it had once been. Towards the side of the room she saw a pile of strangely colored blankets and lying in them was a midnight blue Alicorn.

"It can't be..." Queen Luna whispered.

Luna knew who that was. While Discord had ruled over Equestria, there had always been a blue Alicorn at his side. Moonlight Chaos...... She was his second in command. Luna remembered she always carried out his orders, she obeyed every command given, and had made sure Equestria was in total chaos. This pony was almost as awful as the one she served, she was practically almost half of Discord's power over Equestria. Luna noticed Moonlight looked upset, then she realized what was going on. Luna noticed Moonlight's eyes. They had the same look Twilight gave Sombra. That's when Luna realized what was happening, Moonlight Chaos was in love with Discord. Queen Luna smiled, she could use this pony to get her revenge, and be able to get Twilight back. Her anger consumed her, and she quietly snuck into the bedroom.

Discord was almost ready to finish Sombra off when a loud bang erupted from inside the old castle. Discord could see Moonlgt coming from the roof, she looked like she was trying to fly but she fell and skid along the ground. She was now only about ten feet away from Discord. Just then Luna burst out from the doors.

"Not another step Discord!"

Luna walked towards Moonlight and put her hoof on one of the Alicorns wings.

"Moonlight, what happened?" Discord asked.

Moonlight looked sad and said quietly, "She magically bound my wings together, I can't fly. And I can't use my magic either!"

Discord was mad. "Luna, let her go!"

Luna put her hoof down farther on Moonlight wing, causing her to wince.

"I have warned you Discord, return Twilight..... OR I SHALL DRAIN EVERY LAST BIT OF MAGIC SHE HAS INSIDE HER!"

Moonlight looked up at Discord. "Don't Discord! You love her, even without my power you can still rule Equestria!" Then the Alicorn stared at the ground. "I'm not worth it......"

"GIVE ME AN ANSWER DISCORD!" Luna barked.

Discord was silent, he had a very big choice to make. He could either let Luna drain the magic out of the one pony that cared about him, but still be with the one he cared about and have Equestria. Or he let the one he cared about go and still be with Moonlight in the rotting old castle. Moonlight didn't deserve either fates, but he was forced to chose for her.

It doesn't matter if I'm happy. I enjoy serving you, and being there to talk to you when you need me. Seeing you happy makes me happy. What matters to me is what makes YOU happy Discord.

"Discord, don't give in to her demands......" Moonlight insisted. "Don't do it for me......"

Discord narrowed his eyes. "No Luna."

The Queen shook her head. "So be it....."

Discord watched as Luna used her magic to take all of Moonlight's magic away. Colorful auras swirled from Moonlights horn. Just as she was about to be completely drained Moonlight directed all the magic into Discord. Light surges burst towards the Draconequus making him twice as powerful as before. Moonlight watched as her wings and horn vanished. Luna gasped in horror, she had her revenge but in return; she had made the most chaotic and evil being in Equestria more powerful then even the mightiest Alicorn.

When Discord gained his new power he sent a magical blast that traveled across all of Equestria.

The once plain dirt roads, where now made of soap, cotton candy clouds swirled everywhere, buildings were tipped and bent in different directions, random parts of the ground set on fire, and ground went from a deep green color, to looking like a multicolored chess board. Once again chaos was spread among Equestria.

Luna felt tears forming in her eyes. "What have I done?"

Chosen Fates

With tears in her eyes, Luna watched as the God of Chaos turned around to face her with fiery red eyes. He now looked twice as scary then before. His teeth were extremely sharp, his fur was matted and standing  on end, and his eyes burned with hatred and fear. Discord grabbed Luna by the neck and growled; Luna shivered.

"Discord, let me go!"

"And why would I do that?" Discord said in calm but scary tone. "We're just getting started...."

The Draconequus snapped his fingers and caused himself, Luna and the Prince to vanish from sight. He reappeared in front of the castle of the Sun Kingdom. Forming a lare portion of magic, he created a large barrier sealing everyone inside the castle off from the rest of his now very chaotic world. When he saw that was taken care of he went back to the Everfree Forest. He ran over to Moonlight and helped stand her up, her wings and horn were both gone. She was now a powerless, Earth Pony.

"See?" Moonlight said weakly. "Now all of Equestria is under your power again."

Discord looked around and smiled, she was right. Equestria was now under his power once again! And yet he still felt like he was missing something......

Twilight Sparkle woke up to find very strange surroundings. She was in a bed, with many blankets wrapped around her. She felt warm and secure, and yet at the same time she felt as if she were being watched. Then she heard the laughter.

"Discord? Where are you?"

"Don't worry dear, I can assure you I am very much here."

"Why won't you come out then?" The Princess asked.

"I'm not sure if you would......appeal to my new appearance......." Discord responded coldly.

Twilight sighed. Then she felt something on her shoulders, she turned her head to see Discord smiling at her, and it wasn't a very friendly one. When Twilight Sparkle was finally able to look at him, she gasped.

He looked terrifying.

"What happened to you?" The Princess asked in a scared voice.

"Aww, poor Princess Twilight," Discord said in a mocking tone. "You can't possibly be THAT afraid, can you? After all, I've always looked different......"

Suddenly Twilight found herself staring out at Equestria, only it wasn't how she remembered it. The entire Sun Kingdom was turned upside down. Chaos and destruction roamed free, it was everywhere.

"What did you do to Equesria?!" Twilight asked in shock.

"I simply gave it a few 'Discord' changes. I know chaos isn't your thing, but don't worry my dear, we'll fix that....."

Twilight felt herself being grabbed and was pinned to the ground. She kicked and struggled but Discord and his magic was stronger.

"Stop struggling Twilight........ You don't want to end up like your Mother do you?"

When Twilight heard that she stopped. Tears formed in her eyes, and a feeling of disparity washed over her. Discord smiled when he saw this.

"Oh, don't cry my dear. I promise in a moment all the pain will go away, and soon all you'll feel is love."

Twilight looked up at him sadly. "Really?"

"Why of course dear," Discord said. "Isn't that what YOU want? To feel loved? To have someone to be there for you?"

The Princess nodded. "Yes......"

"Then you must do exactly as I say, do you understand?"

"Yes Discord......"

Queen Luna was flung backwards from the intensity of Discord's magic. Prince Sombra helped her up.

"Come on Luna! Cant you try harder?"

"I'm trying all I can. But his magic is too strong!"

"I have to get to Twilight! She's alone with that  monster and his mind controlled servant!"

Luna stopped. "Listen to me young Prince. While Discord normally controls his victims, Moonlight is not under his spell, neither is she is servant. She has her own mind and follows every command given to her by him. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to make her stop, there is no evil influence to remove from her. She is just as powerful and possibly even more powerful then Discord himself, but now that Discord has both their magic, there is no stopping him..."

"What would cause someone to be so possessive and violent just to cause all this madness?"

"Discord is in fact the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony. It is his nature to corrupt what is orderly and to cause chaos and strife among others."

Prince Sombra sighed. "Come on Luna, we have to get to Twilight now! If we try hard enough we might be able to weaken the shield just long enough to get out!"

But before they could do anything the sheild vanished and before them was a familar sighg causing them both to gasp.

A burst of fire erupted  from the ground. Discord watched as a giant tornado mixed in with the fire, it spread wildly and flowed out as hot HOT SAUCE! Certain areas had hundreds of cotton candy clouds pouring out chocolate milk everywhere, but it didnt touch the hot sauce. The Draconequus laughed throught it all, nothing made sense anymore, just as it shouldn't. He looked down and noticed Twilights coat was now a dull shade of gray.

"Aren't you enjoying your new home?" He asked the now brainwashed Princess.

"Honestly, no. I feel like something is missing...."

Discord smirked. "Well don't worry about it anymore...."

He turned to Moonlight and whispered, "Take her the rest of the way where my plan will take action, then I want you meet me in the middle of the forest at nightfall........Alone."

Moonlight Chaos nodded. "Yes Discord."

Just as she turned around Discord stopped her. "If your going to hide again, try the garden......."

Moonlight didn't know what he meant, but nodded once again and turned around. Things were better and more surprising when they didn't make sense.

Discord watched as the Princess walked off with Moonlight. "Until we meet again, little Princess. I shall see you sometime soon..." He whispered to himself. Then he chuckled darkly. "And as for you, Moonlight Chaos.........this is something I've waited a long time for............ This will be a night you will NEVER forget......"

Moonlight helped guide the young Princess through the forest Discord told her exactly where to lead her. Why? She hadn't a single clue.

"T-t-twilight!" Prince Sombra yelled out.

There standing right in front of them was Twilight Sparkle. Alive, healthy and she had a small smile on her face. Luna and the Prince ran up to her and embraced her in a large hug. Luna gently touched Twilight Sparkle's lavender coat.

"Dear Twilight! You're alright!"

"Yes Aunt Luna, I'm fine!"

Sombra glared at her curiously. "How in the world did you manage to escape that monster, Discord, in the first place?"

Twilight stared up into the sky. "I'm not sure, I can't remember all of it but; as strangely as he came and took me he brought me back. He promised me all the pain would go away and would be replaced by love."

Luna shook her head. "That cannot be true, it was probably all a lie; a trick! He's probably going to kill us all!"

Just then they heard a familiar, gentle voice. "I wouldn't be to sure about that, sister........"

Twilight, Luna and Sombra jumped back. A small golden beam of light appeared in front of them, and in it's place stood Queen Celestia.

"Mother!" Twilight called, running up to embrace the Queen. Sure enough she could touch her mother's pale, soft coat, and hear her sweet voice.

"Twilight Sparkle! I have missed you so much!" Celestia replied.

Tears of happiness trickled down the young Princesses face. "Mother your back!"

Celestia smiled but she now looked stern. "Yes but only for a while Twilight....."

Twilight looked into Celestia's eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I can only stay for a certain period of time but...." Celestia used her magic to place a necklace around Twilight. "Whenever you need me, you may touch the crystal and I will be here."

The Princess nodded and shared a hug with her mother one more time.

"Luna, don't get into to much trouble ruling both kingdoms by yourself, I'll still be here...."

The Queen of the Night smiled. "We shall try Celestia, we shall try...."

Finally the Princess looked at Prince Sombra. "Take good care of my daughter, she needs you...."

The Prince nodded. "I shall try, your Highness."

Celestia smiled one more time. Then she vanished into golden sparks of magic and disappeared into Twilight's necklace. Just then Twilight saw her friends running out the door.

"Twilight darling you're alright!" Rarity called out with joy.

"Was that Queen Celestia?" Rainbow asked.

Twilight nodded. "Mmm, but I know now that no matter where I am, she's always with me."

Fluttershy smiled, "I'm so happy for you Twilight!"

Then the six friends shared a group hug, and as they did all of the chaos began to disappear. Everyone's eyes widened in amazement.

"But Discord's still free, how could this happen?" Luna asked.

"Don't worry Aunt Luna, I have a feeling we won't be seeing him again." Twilight giggled.

She looked up at the sunset and smiled. "Thank you Discord..... Even though you may still be an evil being of chaos, thank you for bringing me back to my friends..."

Just after the moon had taken it's position in the sky and Nightmare Moon had returned to the castle Moonlight Chaos crept out of the bushes she had been hiding in inside the garden. Once again her hair smelled of the sweet aroma from the flowers she enjoyed. And with that she headed towards the forest, she didn't like it without the chaos it was a bit too quiet. Not even the crickets were out! As she reached the beginning of the Everfree Forest she sighed. Moonlight wished she could fly again, and soar above the trees. But she still didn't have her wings, slowly she walked into the forest. As she got deeper inside she saw a glowing light. Walking towards it she found an amazing sight. There were fireflies everywhere, crickets were chirping, and small cotton candy clouds were flying all over the place sprinkling small storms of chocolate milk.

"What is this place?" Moonlight asked herself.

Then she heard a voice. "This is what you'be been waiting for your entire life my dear. This is your dream...."

Moonlight looked up to see Discord hovering above her. He gently flew downward and rested his lizard foot and cloven hoof on the ground.

"I think it's about time you got these back....." He said in a very charming tone.

He released a beam of magic and it swirled around Moonlight causing her wings, horn and magic to be returned.

"Discord," Moonlight began to ask. "Why are you doing this?"

"Because my dear, I have come to a desicion, one I should have made long ago but I never really understood what it meant. Until now....."

Discord caressed Moonlight's face and pulled her him. With a quiet moan Moonlight looked up at Discord, who smiled deviously back at her.

The Queen of Chaos

"Moonlight.....?" Discord asked.

"Yes, Discord?"

Instead of answering, he sighed and put his talons in her mane; gently sniffing it.

"Have I done something wrong?" Moonlight Chaos asked in a nervous tone.

"No, of course not! You have never done anything wrong, from when I first met you, every order I gave you was obeyed. It's true you care about me."

" Of course Discord, but I know that you love Princess Twilight. That's why I need to ask you, why did you have me bring her home?"

Discord leaned towards her, he could see that Moonlight was showing no resistance to him whatsoever. He place his claw under her chin and gently kissed her. He smiled when he saw her eyes grow wide, and her face burn bright red.

"Because my dear," Discord whispered. "I realize that I am in love with you, the only one that was loyal and remained by my side no matter difficult I was. Twilight never would have loved me, they all find me monstrous. Everyone except you..."

"Discord....." Moonlight tried to speak but Discord hushed her.

"Shhhh, don't say anything."

The Draconequus wrapped his paw around her body, he could see the more he mesmerized her; she slowly succumbed to him.

"Discord...." Moonlight moaned.

"Hmmmm?"

"Why would do all this for someone like me?"

"I'd say the real question is why I wouldn't do all this for someone like you? I should have seen this years ago, can you forgive me?" Discord asked.

"But there's nothing to forgive you for. The only thing I will miss is the chaos, why did you take it all away?"

"Because I have a whole new place to put it, a place where nopony will criticize it's beauty again. And that leads me to my final question...."

Moonlight wondered what he was going to do, but his gentle touch, and calming words kept her from moving.

"Moonlight, do you love me?"

"Yes, Discord...."

"Perfect...." The Draconequus said quietly.

He snapped his talons and a blue spark appeared lighting up the forest around them. The spark turned into a small burst of blue fire, the flame leaped in a circle spinning around the two of them, the flame then circled around Discord glowing red. Then it turned to Moonlight turning dark blue. When it finally stopped it transformed into something very small, it looked like...... A ring. Suddenly the Alicron realized what he doing.

"Twilight Sparkle was never meant for me." Discord said. "There is only one pony in Equestria that loves chaos as much as I do, and only one I want to spend eternity with...."

Moonlight looked at her surroundings, they were so beautiful, and they were made by someone she cared deeply for. Part of her felt foolish for this, but the other part of her wanted this more then anything in the world. True, she was a bit naive, she could be a bit clumsy; but she was powerful, strong, and brave. And all she wanted was to be loved for who she was.

"All you have to do is take it," Discord whispered, pointing to the ring. "Take it, and you shall forever be bonded to me......just as you have always wished."

Moonlight looked at the ring. Then at Discord, who smiled at her. Using her magic a blue aura surrounded it. Then she pulled the ring closer. And gently placed it through her horn. When Discord saw this he smiled and put both his claw and his paw around her, Moonlight did the same with her hooves.

"You have made me the happiest Draconequus in the world....." Discord whispered.

Moonlight could feel Discord's paw move slowly around her back. She sighed and looked out into the forest, the fireflies flew everywhere, lighting up the area with a dim glow. The faint sound of crickets playing an eerie lunar tune of music. The full moon glowed brightly in the sky, causing a stream of moonlight to flood the the cleared area. A visible dirt path was lined up along the small pond decorated with lily pads, small splashes and ripples could be seen a heard as they made calming sounds.

"Moonlight....."

"Hmm? Yes Discord?"

"Do you love me?" The Draconequus asked again.

"Yes."

"Then why don't you kiss me?"

Moonlight looked up at him. Her face was beginning to turn red again. "What?"

"I said, if you love me; kiss me. My queen...."

As soon as Discord said those words Moonlight quickly rose up to his face and pressed her lips against his. A shock filled her body, it was unlike anything she had ever felt before. As she slowly broke away and opened her eyes, she realized they were on the ground. Her face was burning like fire, and she noticed Discord's face was a little red too.

"Wow.... I have never seen anyone THAT desperate for me....." Discord said deviously.

Moonlight smiled a little. "I've always been this way, you just never noticed it before."

Discord let a small chuckle escape from his mouth.

"Tomorrow you'll wake up in a place you would only believe to be a dream, a world of sweet chaos..."

Moonlight Chaos leaned up against Discord's long and slender body, a world of chaos.......

"And afterwards," Discord continued. "We'll have to decide on how many kids we'll have and where we'll Honeymoon...."

As Discord began to go on and on about the things they were going to do Moonlight laughed. "That's my Draconequus...."

"Prince Sombra do you take Princess Twilight Sparkle as your lawfully wedded wife as long as you shall live?"

"I do."

"And do you Princess Twilight Sparkle take this stallion to be your lawfully wedded husband as long as you shall live?"

"Yes, I do."

"Then by the power vested in me," Queen Luna began. "I now pronounce you mare and colt..... You may now kiss the bride."

Sombra and Twilight Sparkle quickly kissed. The crowd behind them cheered and applauded. Twilight's friends had tears in their eyes, and Queen Celestia who had been standing in front because of Twilight's enchanted necklace smiled. It had been a month since Discord's attack and they hadn't seen him or Moonlight Chaos ever since. Even though Twilight still had mixed feelings about seeing him again, she tried to invite him anyway. She had left an invitation at the edge of the forest and the next morning it had disappeared. Only Sombra knew about this.

"All hail King Sombra! All hail Queen Twilight Sparkle!" The ponies cheered.

At the reception Twilight, Sombra and everyone invited to the wedding began to feast on the cake, and joined in with the dancing. Just as Twilight was going to find Sombra again to begin the first part of the next dance she bumped into someone. The Princess looked up to see a grey stallion with a black mane and a white tail with the cutie mark of a golden moon and a blue sun.

"I'm terribly sorry about that Princess Twilight." The stallion said.

"No, it's alright. It was my fault I wasn't paying attention."

"My wife and I congratulate you."

"Your wife?" Twilight asked.

Just then a dark blue Unicorn with wavy hair ran towards the stallion.

"Princess Twilight," the stallion began. "This is my wife."

The Unicorn nodded and smiled.

"It's nice to meet you both." Twilight said. Then she turned to the stallion. "Do I know you?"

The stallion smiled. "You could say that......"

Then Twilight's eyes widened. "Discord?"

"Aha! So you still are the smart pony I knew!" Discord said with a grin.

"You got my invitation!"

"Of course I did!" He turned to the Unicorn. "Moonlight found it at the edge of the forest addressed to me. I brought her here with me."

"Wait!" Twilight noted. "You're Moonlight Chaos?" Then she turned to Discord again. "You married her?"

"Yes." The Unicorn said. " We've been together for almost a month. And trust me when I tell you this. I could not have asked for a better husband."

Discord smirked. "You flatter me."

Twilight Sparkle beamed. "Will I be able to see you again?"

"No, my dear Twilight. This is why we came." Discord told her.

"Why not?"

"We live in our own part of Equestria now, it's better this way and we are more happy." Moonlight explained. "Ponies here don't quite appreciate chaos the way we do."

"Oh," The new Queen said with a sigh. "I'm glad I could see you one more time though Discord."

"I am too, little Princess. I am too." Discord said with a smile.

Then they both disappeared in a flash. Twilight smiled. Sombra quickly found her.

"Twilight dear, the dance is going to start! And who were they?"

"Old friends you could say...."

Sombra knew what she meant. "Oh, I'm sorry Twilight. But come on this is our big day, you should be having fun!"

Just then Pinkie Pie turned up the volume for the music. "Come on everypony! Lets party!"

Twilight took Sombra's hoof as she was led onto the dancing area. Confetti and streamers flew into the air, the scent of roses was in the air, and everywhere she looked. Twilight could see a smile on everyone's face.

The sweet smell of chocolate filled the air. Colors swirled and could be seen everywhere, everything was either full of color, or had barely any color at all. Nothing made sense and was a place for the imagination to run free. The sun and moon traded places randomly even though the moon came out more often then the sun. This was a world of chaos and disorder, and that's just the way Discord liked it.

"It's so beautiful.... The sight of chaos is a thing of beauty..." Discord said proudly.

"I might cry!" Moonlight said with a smile, slowly beginning to sniffle.

"I think this is better then the last time we tried causing chaos."

"It's your kingdom..." Moonlight said to him.

"It's OUR kingdom. A place where no one can tell us what to do, a place where we can be free."

"You are so gifted..." Moonlight told him with a sigh.

"At what?"

"Besides causing chaos and just about everything; seeing beauty. You can find it even in the smallest drop of whipped cream. You see art in color, wonder in flavors, detail in the way anything feels." Moonlight explained.

"Yes, but I'm not the only one with that kind of vision." Discord turned to Moonlight. "One who can see beauty in a distorted creature like me; that's what makes you the most unique, and someone I would never change about you."

Moonlight Chaos looked up at Discord and smiled. She flapped her wings and flew about a foot off the ground and got close to Discord's face. He gently kissed her causing the Alicorn to sigh. She was happy, Discord was happy too. Twilight and Sombra were happy, everyone in Equestria was happy.

The Shadow of Chaos is among us......
