Final Moments
Chapter 1: Final Moments
It's done. Finally, it's all over. The war destroying this world is won. And here I lay, on the battlefield of the finale. The Dark Crystal, the life source of all evil, was destroyed. But the explosion lodged a giant piece of bloody crystal into my chest. But at least this world gets a tomorrow, a second chance. I stare at the sky, watching the dark, grey blanket of clouds slowly wash away. A beam of light finally reaches my face, causing me to wince. It's been so long since I've seen sunlight. At least I'm still alive to feel it.
Although I may have a crystal in my chest, my death is slow. But thankfully not painful. Ah, this gives me time to think back to the good memories of my three years of being here. Those years were truly amazing. I found friendship, compassion, and love. Hmph, love. She truly is beautiful. How her rainbow-mane enlightens my days, her words so soft when she spoke to me. She definitely won't be happy about this.
Now it's time to go back and relive those moments of bliss.
Second Year in Equestria
"Ello Rainbow Dash." I said.
"Hey Anon!" she said happily.
"What are you up to right now?" I asked while sitting next to her.
"Nothin'. Just relaxing." She replied.
"Hmm, in times like these that sounds like a brilliant idea." I sighed before laying back.
We both stared up at the darkened sky. Neither of us could tell whether it was night or day anymore. I was better in the dark anyways. I felt Dashie slowly scoot closer to me before laying on her side.
"So, two years in Equestria. How're you liking it?" She asked.
"I'll tell you when I see the light of day again." I replied.
"Aww come on. No opinions?"
"Well, with whats going on, I don't wanna give it a bad opinion. Which is why I'll tell you when this is all over. Kay?"
"Promise?" She asked.
"Promise." I replied.
This was something I meant. I stared deeply into her eyes when I said it. It seemed to really reach her. We unintentionally stared into each other's eyes for a few minutes before a faint blush showed on Dashie's face before she looked away with a nervous laugh. I mentally shrugged before looking back to the clouds. Everything was quiet again except for the faint howling of the wind.
I couldn't help but glance over at Dashie from time to time. She always acted a bit odd around me. And most of the time she was trying to impress me. But she didn't need to do anything. I was practically already impressed. After a couple months in Equestria, she practically grew onto me. We always did things together. I saved her life a few times and she saved mine nearly a thousand more times.
"Whoo... it's getting kinda chilly out." Dashie said.
"Yeah, it really is." I added as the wind blew harder.
We stood up and walked back to my place. The walk wasn't very long, my place was at the bottom of the hill and at the end of the path. It was a nice little home, nice enough for me and a few guests. But, not house party's, I learned this when Pinkie came over to celebrate our victory in defending Canterlot. Hmm, another good time. Both the party and the battle.
I opened the front door and waited for Dashie before closing the door behind her. I tossed some firewood into the fireplace, lit a match and tossed it in with the firewood. The house was illuminated with a red-orangish tint. I let out a sigh before slouching down onto my couch. Dashie fluttered down and laid on the couch next to me. She was a bit too close, but I didn't mind it. Although, it was hard to not mind her laying her down onto my lap.
What am I thinking, I was in love with this mare. And she was clearly showing signs for two years now. I let out a small humph before stroking her mane. Her eyes opened slightly and a red blush spread across her face. She gasped lightly and bit down on her lip as I started scratching behind her ear. I chuckled slightly as she fidgeted to try to get away from my hand.
Then, a clever idea popped into my head. I switched to the other ear and scratched it and she tried to move away from it. But as she was trying to get away from my hand, she was moving towards me. Finally I stopped and she sighed before opening her eyes. To find mine inches away from hers. Her blush grew as we sat here in this moment, our faces inches away from each other.
Finally, I cracked a smile, making Dashie do the same. We both slowly leaned forward and our lips met. Her lips were soft and warm, so warm my heart melted. Her kisses were passionate and loving. Well, on that night, let's just say... amazing things happened.
Present...
Hmm, that night really was amazing. Hopefully Dashie makes it here in time. I'd hate to break my promise. Oh, speaking of which, that's them right now...
"Anon! Anon, where-" Rainbow stopped.
Her face broke my already punctured heart. She slowly fluttered down to my side with tears in her eyes. I did my best to crack a smile, to try and cheer her up. I let out the most painful chuckle of my life. But I managed to hide the pain behind my broken smile. My efforts paid off, Dashie couldn't help but smile through her tears. It wasn't long before the rest of the Mane Six caught up. Their saddened looks pained me more than this damned crystal.
"Hey, come on now. Lighten up will ya? It's not like- aagh...- I did all of this just to see ya'll sad. Rejoice, evil is extinguished!" I exclaimed, along with choking on a bit of my own blood.
"Welp, this crystal is finally taking is toll." I coughed. "Oh, and Dashie?"
"Yes Anon?" She asked.
"It's beautiful, gorgeous. Just like you." I said.
Dashie gasped before wrapping her forehooves around me and crying into my chest. With the last of my withering strength, I wrapped an arm around her to comfort her. I laid my head back.
"Y-you can't go. Please, don't leave..." Dashie sobbed.
"Oh you don't need to worry about that, I'll always be here." I said.
Those words were my last, for I felt my breath leaving me. My vision was darkening. Before it finally went black, I looked down. Down at Dashie's beautiful rainbow mane. And smiled. And finally, it was done...
Third-person Perspective...
The Mane Six gathered around Anon. They watched with tears in their eyes as Dashie continue to sob into Anon's chest. They all looked up when they heard two pairs of wing-beats. They saw Celestia and Luna flying down to them. The pair landed and saw Anon laying on the ground, with the crystal in his chest. Their faces became somber as the sadness of the Mane Six washed over them.
Celestia finally spoke up after an hour of silence.
"He will be remembered as a legend, his sacrifice was not in vain. He was loved by many, and was an amazing friend to all. His strength, courage, devotion, determination, and sometimes, his charisma, was enough to make miracles, win battles, and win this war against evil. He will be remembered, as a hero."
