Months after having to deal with Ahuizotl in a temple hidden away inside of the Everfree Forest, Daring Do, a legendary treasure hunter in the entire world, was looking through some of the treasures she had encountered through her time traveling. It was night time. She had a home hidden away in Canterlot so nobody would bug her while she wrote her books. She sat in her master bedroom on her large bed. Paintings of lions, tigers, ancient looking castles and what looked to be a self portrait hung on the wall. She looked through a book of photographs of most of the artifacts she had. "...The spear of King Dune of Saddle Arabia..." She said looking at a photo of her holding a pole with a wide and pointed spear head on it. "...Ahuizotl really had me on a wild goose chase with this one... Too bad one of his Henchcolts screwed him over with this... Shoulda brought that guy on along with me..." She sighed and closed the book setting it on her nightstand. As she lied back in her bed and stared at her ceiling just pondering at what treasure she would go after next. Not one idea came to her. She sighed and climbed under her covers. Thoughts ran through her head. What if she couldn't find a new treasure to quest for? The readers of her books would be begging her pen name of A.K. Yearling what had happened to her books. They'd be asking for one last book to close off the series if it were ending. As she drifted off to sleep she had an idea come to her mind. "...The Canterlot Library...." She said before passing out.

Later that night she tossed and turned as a nightmare brewed. She saw herself walking through halls of a temple. Dusty hieroglyphics covered the cracked walls. Spider webs were everywhere in the corners of the hallway. Echoes of her footsteps rang out in the empty darkness. The only light came from a small flash light that could only reach three to five feet in front of her. "...Now if I were treasure where would the ancient humped camel black rock tribe hide me...?" She asked herself. Even her voice bounced off the walls. She soon came to a cross roads in the hall with the path still going straight forward. She aimed the flash light through each of the pathways excluding the one she had came from. She noticed a glimmer of light come from the path to her left. "...Strange..." She said. "... This wasn't in the sketches..." She slowly crept through the hallway following the glimmer of light. Suddenly she turned around having a strange scurrying sound come to her ear. She took a deep breath and turned back around continuing the pathway. "...Don't fret Daring... It's just the sound of your boots scuffing the floor..." She told herself. As she walked the scurrying kept going. Beads of sweat started to cover her forehead making her more nervous. Soon she came upon a large room. Darkness covered everything other than a pile of gold in front of her. She shined her flashlight around the room seeing more gold and treasure. "...Huh... Didn't think it'd be that easy..." She said walking around the room. She dug into a pile of treasure pulling out a handful of coins. She let coins fall out of her hand until one sat in her palm. She looked at it closely.

"It's all fake you know!" Someone said startling Daring making her drop the coin. Not a colt. A mare. Daring looked around shining the flash light everywhere. Nothing. "Miss Do I'm up here." They said.

Daring froze facing the middle of the room. She shined the light up at the roof and saw a dark blue mare in a midnight purple dress with a moon right on the hip. Wings protruded from her back and a horn from her long flowing mane almost like a starry night. "Princess Luna?" Daring said. She knelt down and put a fist against her chest. Luna gave a smile as she jumped from the pedestal and floated to the ground.

"I see you're having a little trouble trying to figure out what treasures to go for next. Am I correct?" Luna said.

Daring stood up and nodded sighing. "...I've collected many treasures and kept all from Ahuizotl's evil grasp..." She said. "My books will only end when I do. All the treasures I found were from my personal library of ancient texts. All the books I read with the treasures in them have been set in boxes that I've marked with read and completed. Forty boxes now sit in my basement and barely any books sit in my library. The treasures in those books are merely just gold and silver. Not protected by any traps, ancient evils.... Not even a curse! Real or fake! I ask you Princess Luna.... I wish to browse the treasure trove of the Canterlot Library..."

Luna thought for a moment. She hummed pondering at Daring Do's problem. "... You wish to look through the Royal Library to look for treasures unknown to yourself?" She said. Daring nodded. "...I'll consult my sister on it. Right now I have a little filly to deal with in Manehattan. If my sister agrees to the terms expect a few guards to show up at your door. Now is there anything else you need while I'm here?"

Daring smiled and shook her head. "No princess... Nothing needed here other than that one thing." She said. "Thank you Luna... You may just make your appearance in the next book I write." Luna gave a smile and backed away from Daring Do. Things started to fade away. Once things were dark the princess of the night disappeared. A loud beeping sound was heard. Daring opened her eyes having the sunlight peeking through a window covered almost all the way by curtains. She turned away and saw her alarm clock reading 7:00 AM. She slammed her hand on it shutting the beeping off. She propped herself up in her bed and swung her legs out flinging the covers off revealing a wrinkled tank top and no pants. She dug under the covers and pulled out a pair of inside out sporty shorts. She tossed them aside and got up walking to her dresser at the side of the room. She opened a bottom drawer and pulled out long jungle like camouflage cargo pants. She slipped into them bringing them up around her waist buttoning and zipping them up. She reached into another drawer and pulled out a sports bra and pulled off her tank top revealing luscious and plump breasts. She stuffed her head through the bra bringing her arms up through the straps. As Daring pushed in both breasts she reached in and grabbed a drab olive shirt and put it on. As she pulled her head through the shirt and pulled it over her stomach she started to walk towards the door.

Once outside the door she sighed and stretched. The hall she walked through sat murals of a jungle with tigers and tropical birds hiding in the foliage. "...I really do hope Celestia allows me to look through her study... I really need my books to continue..." She said to herself as she entered the bathroom. She pulled her pants down and lifted the toilet seat planting her plot on the pot.  The hiss of urine filled the emptiness of the room. She sat there for a while resting her head on her hand her elbow resting on her knee. "... Maybe I can find a way to contact the princess inside the castle...." She grunted lying back on the toilet being careful not to slide off. "That wont work... Castle is always locked up tight with guards EVERYWHERE! Guess I'll just wait and see if it happens... If not I'll try a letter... She always responds to letters..." Just as she emptied her bladder she unraveled some TP from the roll and wiped herself dropping it in the toilet. She stood up pulling her pants up and flushed. "...Empty halls thank the sun... Wouldn't want someone walking in on me..." She told herself as started washing her hands. After she was done she started out into the hall with a now brushed head of hair and a smile on her face as if nothing bothered her. She came into the kitchen where she grabbed a loaf of bread in a bag from the top of the fridge and  placed it on the counter turning back towards the fridge opening it and grabbing a jar of jelly out of it. She hurried over to a cabinet throwing it open and grabbing a jar of peanut butter out of it. She slammed it down on the counter next to the jar of jelly and opened the bread bag pulling out two slices out simultaneously grabbing a plate from a cabinet above her. She set it on the counter and started to make a sandwich. Just half way through spreading jelly on one slice she heard the doorbell ring. As she set her knife and jellied bread down the doorbell rang again.

"Royal Guard!" Someone called out.

Daring's jaw dropped and she hurried out of the kitchen towards the front door. The doorbell rang a third time. "Hold on! I'm coming!" She called out vaulting over the couch. She tripped clipping a coffee table and rolled to the door springing back to her feet. She grabbed a hold of the knob and took a deep breath. She opened it and there stood two guards wearing golden chest plates.

One Pegasus just like Daring and the other a Unicorn. Both colts. The Pegasus stood frozen. He just stared. "Miss Daring Do I presume?" The unicorn asked.

Daring looked to the unicorn guard. "Yes that's me." She replied. "I was in the middle of making some food for me to eat."

The unicorn guard smiled. "Terribly sorry for interrupting you." He said. "May we come inside and wait?" Daring nodded and stood to the side allowing both guards to walk inside. The unicorn guard sat on the couch while the Pegasus guard looked around the seating area.

"Uh... Is he okay?" Daring asked closing the door. She pointed to the Pegasus guard.

The unicorn guard nodded. "Yeah he's just shocked about the order to come pick up the treasure hunting legend." He replied. He looked to his partner. "Ryder! Sit your flank down! Relax!"

The Pegasus guard shook his head snapping out of his trance like state. He hurried to the unicorn guards side. "Yes sir!" He said sitting next to him.

The unicorn guard looked back to Daring. "Not to be rude or anything ma'am but Celestia is expecting us to get back to her soon." He said. "Not to mention my partner here is a fan of yours and I don't want him tearing you apart."

Daring looked to the Pegasus guard called Ryder. He blushed seeing her smile at him. "Well he's unlike any of my other fans." She said. "Most of my other fans would just think I'm A.K. Yearling without my glasses and well they wouldn't be wrong. Not to mention they're mostly little colts and fillies. But even they would be freaking out to my pen name. Ryder here... It is Ryder right?"

Ryder nodded blushing even harder. "...Y-yes ma'am..." He said hesitantly.

Daring sighed and shook her head turning back towards the kitchen. "You know there's no reason to be nervous around me!" She said. "You boys want anything to drink?"

The unicorn guard looked to Ryder and nudged him. "C'mon dude answer her!" He whispered. "You wanted to come get her and Celestia let you! Now are you going to ask for a drink or do you want me to play the role of your mommy?" He chuckled a bit.

Ryder took a deep breath and punched the unicorn guard in the arm. "...You always pull the 'mother card' don't you?" He whispered back. "You knew my mom died! Why don't you ever fucking stop with that shit?!"

The unicorn colt growled rubbing his arm. "I stop with that shit when you stop being a pussy about it!" He replied. "Now get your god damn drink! I'm driving!"

Ryder nodded and looked to the kitchen. "Water is fine Miss Daring." He said. He looked back at his partner. "You got me once when I was a trainee but I'm up to your tricks. Why do you think I never patrol with you?"

The unicorn guard chuckled kicking back as Daring came back from the kitchen with a glass of water in each hand. "Alright got your water." She said setting both glasses of water on the table. "I'll get my sandwich finished soon and then we can get on to the castle."

Ryder leaned in and grabbed his glass of water. The unicorn guard grabbed his water as well. "Thank you Miss Do. You enjoy your breakfast now!" The unicorn guard said. "We could even take it to go if you'd like."

Daring gave a smile. "That sounds like a great idea. Just let me get my boots and gear and we'll get going okay?" She said. The two guards nodded as they sipped their water. Quickly Daring went down the hall towards her room.

As the guards sat waiting Ryder sighed setting the glass down. The unicorn guard looked to him. "Alright what's wrong now?" He asked.

Ryder gave the other guard a dirty look. "Oh like you don't know!" He snapped. "I know i'm supposed to be the leader of the Pegasus regiment of the royal guard and you may be a unicorn but that still doesn't mean I cant write you up! Make enough fucking cracks about my mother or my sister you are GONE! You hear me?"

The unicorn guard huffed. "Yes sir Ryder sir..." He said mumbling something under his breath.

Ryder got in his face. "What was that you little shit?!" He snapped. "I can send you right back to the fucking academy! Just like that! I'm only wearing this fucking recruit armor because of Shining! He said he'd get me better armor once he had the time! You better fucking know how busy he is with Cadance!"

The unicorn guard shushed him and pushed him down. "Okay okay I got it! You just calm yourself!" He said a bit scared. "I'm only doing this to prove my rank! Daring probably wont even notice!"

Ryder took a deep breath and huffed. "Alright just drop it! You drop it, I drop it and we start acting our ranks!" He said grabbing his water again. He sipped it as they heard footsteps coming from the hallway. They looked to the hall and saw Daring Do wearing a bright red long dress, red framed glasses and a sun hat with a flower on the brim. She had a purse stuffed with random items.

"Alright you two let me grab my sandwich and then we can get going!" She said. She winked at Ryder making him blush. The unicorn guard checked him in the arm making him spill the water on his lap.

Ryder gasped and blushed harder setting the glass of water down. He grabbed the guard by the arms. "JUST FOR THAT YOU ARE NOT GETTING TODAYS PAY!" Ryder yelled. He dragged him off the couch and got up. He looked to Daring who was a bit shocked. "May I use your bathroom Miss Do?" Daring nodded and pointed down the hallway. Ryder smiled and nodded as if nothing were wrong and walked down the hall.

Daring looked to the unicorn guard getting back up. She went to his side and gave him a hand getting up. "Jeez what made him go off like that?" She asked. "I've never seen a recruit with that much temper!"

The guard huffed and cracked his neck. "That aint no recruit Miss Do..." He said. "...That guy is right hand stallion of the head of the royal guard Shining Armor. He has a temper and a bad one at that." He brushed himself off mumbling curses under his breath before sitting back down. "Sure he's wearing armor of a recruit but that's all we had since he kept breaking all his armor with the stupid stuff he was doing..."

Daring sat on the couch looking to the unicorn guard a bit shocked. "What kind of stuff was he doing?" She asked.

The guard adjusted his position and thought for a moment. "Well not just a couple months ago he got into a drunken fight with one of Luna's guards and yeah that was a little bit of my fault..." He replied. "... Before that he fell off a second story balcony due to more stupidity on my part.... One before that he had to patrol Manehattan with me and he ended up getting into a gun battle where he ended up killing a bank robber. The way his armor got busted there is that he walked out into the street and some drunken idiot clipped him with his car. Lucky for him he was only slapped with a DUI and not with murder. The only one time I wasn't involved in busting him up! And Ryder comes out nearly unhurt other than a few cuts and bruises. That last one only gave him a few broken ribs." He looked to Daring. "You should probably hurry with the sandwich. After something like that he's going to be itching to go notify Shining Armor of the trouble i'm in." Daring nodded and got up hurrying to the kitchen again.

A while later the two guards were driving down the road in a black truck with tinted windows almost to the point where you couldn't see through to the other side. Daring Do sat in the back with her bag at her side and a half eaten sandwich in hand. Ryder sat in the passenger seat as his partner drove. Ryder looked back at Daring. "Sorry you had to see what happened back at your home Miss Do." He said.

Daring swallowed a bite of sandwich and gave a smile. "Please Ryder call me Daring!" She said. "And it's alright! I deal with idiots in my line of work as well!" She looked to the unicorn guard driving. "No offence sir!"

The guard glanced back at her. "No worries I've heard enough from this guy!" He said nodding to Ryder.

Daring giggled a bit and looked back to Ryder. She took a deep breath and her laughter faded. "You know your partner told me a lot about the things you've been through." She said. "Gun fights, falls of great heights and even a few fist fights. Didn't mean to rhyme that way but that's what he told me."

Ryder gave a smile. "Well Daring you've had quite a life of adventure." He said. "I've read all your books before and I gotta say I never thought id get the chance to meet you. Guess I'm in the right line of work eh?"

The guard in the drivers seat glanced over just as he turned into a gate. "Yo Ryder tell her about the crush you have on her!" He said laughing. Ryder and Daring both blushed hard. Ryder looked back forward as Daring looked out the window. She noticed they arrived at the castle. Guards stood at the front doors and at every other window. She saw some unicorn guards behind them at the gate as it closed. She looked back forward as the truck shut off. Ryder and the other guard got out of the truck and closed the doors behind them. Ryder went straight for the front door of the castle as the unicorn guard opened up the door for Daring to slide out. As she slid out her bag nearly dropped to the floor but the unicorn guard caught it in his magic just by waving his hand. It floated up and Daring grabbed it out of the air.

"Too much of a shock right there eh?" He asked. Daring hesitantly nodded stepping away from the door. "Yeah well that is true. I've heard Shining Armor gave him the liberty of looking after Princess Cadence for a few nights. You know Cadence. Princess of love and what not. Guess she saw Ryder at his post crying about the break up he endured with some mare in Ponyville. She ended up calling Shining to see if she could make him happy by doing something. You can probably tell what she did. Got Shining's approval and made some music with a little role playing aspect." He chuckled making Daring blush more as they approached the doors to the castle.

Daring looked over at the unicorn guard as the walked up."...You think he's embarrassed about what you said?" She asked. "I'd really hate to know that a fan of mine is embarrassed about a crush secret coming out. I'm sure you have a crush on someone don't you?" The guard blushed a bit giving a small yelp. He covered his mouth as he averted his gaze. Daring grinned. "Well lets see now... Who can it be? It cant be me now can it?" She studied the guard's face closely. No reaction. "Maybe the fair Princess Celestia herself?" She studied his face yet again. Nothing. "Perhaps The Princess of The Night Luna?" Again she looked to the guard's face. Again nothing! "Come now you have be crushing on someone!"

The guard winced a little bit. He clenched his eyes shut starting to whimper. Suddenly he grunted and fell to his knees. "FINE!" He snapped. "You got me! I have a crush on Sapphire Shores!"

Daring Do knelt down in front of the unicorn guard who was blushing hard. "Was that so hard?" She said taking his hand. "Now cmon get up and stop being a baby. Lead me to Celestia please! Can you do that or do you need your bottle?" The guard sniffled and stood up. He wiped away the tears of embarrassment and slapped himself a couple times. He looked to her and nodded.

They walked through the halls together. Daring peeked in at every room they had passed along the way. They went up a couple sets of stairs, down a few halls and just went around for a while. They finally arrived at a large door with two guards standing in front of it with assault rifles aimed in down at the ground in between them. The unicorn guard saluted. They saluted back. "Permission to see the princess?" He said. The guards rested the barrels of their guns on their shoulders with the butt of their guns in their hands. They nodded and opened up the doors. Daring stood in awe as a bright light shown through the door as it opened. The light softened as the doors opened wider. A red carpet lined the floor from the door to the throne where Princess Celestia sat in a long white dress. Her long horn jutted from her colorful mane as it hung down in front of her face and swept off to the side. The guard looked back at Daring. "You ready?" He asked. Daring nodded clutching her purse tight.

Celestia smiled seeing Daring and the guard approach. The doors closed behind them and they knelt down bowing their heads in respect to the princess. "Welcome Miss Yearling!" Celestia said as they rose to their feet. "Forgive me but I was supposed to meet with a certain adventurer today but it appears she may have gotten a little lost."

Daring smiled and removed her glasses and hat. "Well Princess I just havent gotten ready just yet." She said. "Might I find somewhere to change? Oh and if you can would I be able to speak with a certain pegasus guard named Ryder? He bolted off somewhere while a certain someone was being a jerk!" She looked over at the unicorn guard she walked in with. He whistled nervously.

Celestia smiled and laughed a bit. "I'll let that certain someone off the hook if he finds Ryder and apologizes before anyone else does." She said looking to a pegasus guard next to her throne. The guard nodded and ran towards the door his armor clanging. The unicorn guard yellped and flashed away. Celestia looked back to Daring. "So i understand my sister caught you in the middle of a dream having trouble finding the right kind of treasure." Daring nodded.

"I've looked for every treasure in my own library which either gave me riches, a few nice artifacts, old paintings and the trust of an entire country." She replied. "I ask you today if I may research the royal library for a new adventure. My book series ends when I do! I intend to make my readers know of my departure before it happens. In short may I pleasue use your library?" Celestia smiled and nodded.

"You have my permission. Once you find a treasure you would like to go after notify Luna or myself and we will give you a room here in the castle until you are ready to ship out for said journey." The Princess said getting up from her throne. "Come Miss Do I must take you to the royal library to start your search!" She started towards the door as Daring allowed her to pass.

Before they got to the door it opened back up and in came Ryder! He had tears in his eyes and he was blushing hard. He didn't notice Celestia and Daring as he sighed leaning against the door. "...Lost em.... Cant they tell I just wanna be left alone...?" He said to himself.

Daring and Celestia looked to each other. Celestia shrugged and looked back to Ryder. "Why do you need to be alone Ryder?" She said making him yelp as his wings puffed out with a loud POMF. Celestia backed up a bit hiding daring behind her. Ryder hesitantly turned around and saw the Princess. He immediately knelt down bowing his head. "Forgive me princess! It isn't my fault!"

Celestia picked Ryder up with her magic and set him on his feet. "What isn't your fault?" She asked. Ryder started to whimper tearing up. Celestia reached over and wiped one of the tears away and shushed him. "Hey no need to cry! If this is about what happened with you and that mare from Ponyville I understand it wasn't your fault!"

Ryder sniffled and opened his arms for a hug. Celestia pulled him in and hugged him like she was his mother. "...It was that idiot I have to share a friggen patrol truck with...." He said sniffling. "...We were bringing... Daring Do here and... He blabbed about what I did with Cadence....."

Celestia sighed. "...The one about the dirty role play?" She asked. Ryder nodded into her chest. "Alright I'll do something about this. You think you can do a favor for me?" She pried Ryder off and looked at him. He nodded wiping his eyes. Celestia looked back at Daring and nodded to Ryder. She looked back to Ryder as Daring came to his side. He saw her and blushed hard. "Ryder I want you to escort Daring Do to the library! Can you do that for me?" Ryder sniffled and nodded hesitantly. Celestia smiled and patted him on his armored shoulder.

As Celestia went back to her throne Daring went and opened the door. Ryder hid behind it as the unicorn guard and the Pegasus guard ran in. The unicorn guard shoved the other Pegasus guard. "Great! We lost him because of you!" The unicorn guard said.

Celestia turned back around and looked at the two feuding guards. "You there!" She snapped pointing at the unicorn guard. The guard stood and saluted. "What is your name soldier!?"

The guard shuttered. "Lazer Light Ma'am!" He replied.

"Well Lazer..." Celestia started said approaching as Ryder and Daring snuck out. "You have soiled the good name of your superior Rough Ryder and for that you are released from your duty! Turn in your armor, your weapons and go!"

The guard dropped his hand and hung his head. "...Yes Ma'am..." He said.

Just outside the door Daring sat there with Ryder with their ears against the door. The two guards outside paid no mind because of Ryder's presence. Ryder gave a smile hearing the words The Princess had spoken. Daring smiled at him and pulled him away from the door. "...I'm finally rid of that self centered prick...." Ryder said giving the treasure hunter a smile.

Daring let out a little laugh and hugged him. "There we go! You got your wish of being alone!" She said. "And really Ryder... I don't think that little secret is going to leave my lips. I promise to keep this secret as long as you promise to keep my secret!" Ryder blushed hard and hugged her tight. She pried him off laughing a bit. "Alright now where's that Library Ryder?"

Ryder took her hand and started to pull her gently down the hall. "I-its this way Daring.... I hope you don't mind if i... shadowed you in there..." He said still shaking with nervousness. "Guard's a-always have to be with other ponies who- uh...."

Daring shushed him as he fumbled with his words. "Come now Ryder just take some deep breaths!" She said. As Ryder took a few breaths she stroked his cheek with her free hand as her bag hung from her shoulder. "There we go... You just take me to the library and relax while I look for a new treasure to go after! Can you do that for me?" Ryder nodded looking a bit calmer. "That's the spirit! C'mon lets get there!" Ryder smiled and nodded again.

As they walked through the halls together Ryder gave a hefty sigh. "...I swear I'm weak sometimes...." He said.

Daring looked over at him curious. "What ever do you mean? You're a highly ranked royal guard!" She said.

Ryder sighed again as they took a corner. "...Yeah I know that but... Back there when I hugged Celestia I felt like a little colt crying to his mother about some bully..." He said. "...Something I never did during my child hood.... I'm a stallion for Celestia's sake and I should be acting like it.... I'm glad that asshat is gone but.... I did it like I'm just some kid.... I was crying.... I was asking for a hug.... You might as well just get me in a fucking diaper let me shit in it and just drink milk from a damned bottle...." He whimpered a bit not wanting to cry as they passed guards patrolling the halls.

Daring sighed taking his hand. "Ryder the fact that he's gone is a reason to celebrate your freedom of annoyance!" She said. "Besides don't let the downs keep your mood down! Think of the good things you've done with and or without him! You've taken out a bank robber and got hit by a car the same day! You walked away with only bruising and a broken rib!"

Ryder sniffled wiping his eyes with his arm. "...I only had bruises and lacerations.... The worst cut I had from the wreck was right on my upper arm...." He said. "...And... Yeah... That gun battle was intense... Blind fire saved me until he ran out of ammo.... Bullet right through the head and FFT! He was DEAD!" He chuckled and sniffled some still. Daring smiled and laughed a bit with him.

"You see?" She said. "Cmon tell me what other things have you done like that? Any foot chases? High speed wrecks? What've you been doing?!" She started to get a bit excited wanting to know more about his adventures.

Ryder laughed. "It's either you calm down, I calm down or we both calm down!" He said. "How's about I tell you about some stuff over a drink later say around... 6:00?"

Daring blushed letting out a nervous laugh. "I...I'd like that..." She replied. They kept walking for a while until they stood outside the library door. Daring looked into Ryder's eyes and hugged him. "I'll be here for a while so maybe just go on patrol, go to the range or do something while you wait for me!"

Ryder gave a smile and nodded. "I'll be around." He replied. "If you need just ask for me. Oh and before you go in there I have a question...." His voice dropped a bit sounding nervous.

Daring broke the hug and rested her hand on his shoulder. She raised an eyebrow. "Come on lets just set all nervousness aside!" She said. "You know my secret, I know your secret we just keep those and trust each other. What's the question?"

Ryder blushed and averted his gaze. "...Well... Ever since I read your first book I've been wanting to go on an adventure..." He said. ".... I'm asking just this once but...." He met Daring's gaze again. "May I accompany you on your next adventure?"

Daring gave her armored friend a smile. "From what you do for Canterlot I would love to have you along for my adventure!" She said happily.

Ryder sighed and pulled away from Daring. "....There it is... The answer that crushes my dreams...." He said.

Daring grinned a bit as he walked away. "RYDER!" She snapped. He flinched and turned back around. Daring laughed a bit approaching him again. "Ryder! I said you can come with me! I don't mind! The more help the better!"

Ryder forced out a smile blushing embarrassed. "...Heh.... Woopsies..." He said scratching his neck. "...I'm always expecting a no whether it be from a criminal, friends or some of the recruits... Not to mention trying to get some of my stuff from my ex.... She's kept my friggen bike and her brother isn't letting me get it. He said 'Its a gift for you being such an ungreatful S-O-B'... You'll probably be hearing more about that later but you should start looking!" He hugged Daring Do one last time before he ran off down the hall.

Daring watched him as he celebrated his victory before he disappeared into the long corridor. She smiled and sighed turning back towards the library door and opening it. As she went inside she gazed at the endless amounts of knowledge that lie shelved before her. A green carpet paved the path in between the book cases and around tables in the middle of the giant room. A few guards sat at the tables with books in their hands. One of them looked as if he were falling asleep. Daring hesitantly approached one of the guards at the table. He looked up at her. "Do you happen to know where I can find books of ancient treasures or of civilizations lost due to any unaccounted circumstances?" The gray shaded maned mare asked.

The guard nodded. He pointed to the far corner of the library. "Go over there and you'll find a gated off area." He said softly. "You just wait over there and I'll bring you a key to get in Miss Do!"

Daring smiled a bit and nodded. "Thank you sir." She said walking away from the tables. She made her way to the gated area and waited for a while until the guard came and tossed her a key on a ring. She caught it and smiled. She shushed him just before he walked away. He nodded and disappeared behind book cases. Daring turned back to the gated area and peered in. There was a pedestal in between bookshelves at a side wall. She unlocked the gate and went inside closing the gate silently behind her. She approached the book on its pedestal and looked at the cover. It looked quite old. No visible marks, words or textures sat on its cover. She flipped it open and started scrolling through the pages. On some of the pages she saw treasures she had taken before. This was the book she was looking for. She sat there for hours flipping through the book and other books. All showed the same treasures. She sighed pulling one last book from the shelf. "...Please don't tell me I tapped out the treasures of Equestria..." She whispered to herself. She opened the book in her hand and she found a picture of a broad sword being wielded by a Pegasus colt. She marked the page and closed the book on her finger to know where the picture was. Daring looked to the gate and quickly left the area the key in hand. As quickly as she got to the gated area from when she entered, she sat down at the tables in the middle of the great library. Most of the guards had gone. Only one remained and he was passed out, his head resting on his crossed arms and an open book sitting off to the side. Daring sighed and  got up nudging him. "Sir? Sir! Wake up!" She said.

The guard swatted at her hand and shifted a bit. "....Nhhhh... Mom.... Five more minutes...." He mumbled.

Daring took a deep breath and shook him waking him right up. As he sat up and looked around Daring backed right up. "Sir you are a guard here aren't you?" Daring asked. The guard nodded and stretched. Daring reached into her bag and pulled out a pocket watch. She pushed a little button and saw it read 11:55. She showed it to the guard. "You've been here since I came in. Aren't you supposed to be at your post somewhere?" The guard hesitantly nodded and Daring snapped the pocket watch shut. "Well you better get a move on to where you need to be! But I wont say you were here if you don't say I was here got it?" The guard stood up and saluted. "Hurry along now. I'll make sure Ryder doesn't hear about this." The guard nodded and quickly ran for the door. Daring Do smiled and sat back down at the table. She opened the book and started reading. She sat there for a couple hours reading the book for info. As she read another guard came in. It was a unicorn guard.

"...Um... Excuse me?" He said alerting her. She looked over to him. "Sorry if I'm disturbing you miss but Princess Celestia invites you to join her for lunch... She has also informed me that Ryder will be joining you and... Uh... Please don't take this the wrong way but you've been here for hours. I suggest taking a little break."

Daring stood up and stretched with her wings puffing out. She grabbed the book and put it in her bag. "Sorry sir." She said throwing her bag over her shoulder again. "I guess I just get a little too into my work. "Can you lead me to a bathroom? I wanna be freshened for when I dine with the princess."

The guard smiled and nodded. He turned towards the door which was about half open. As he walked Daring followed him out and down the hall. He looked back at her. "Judging by your mane color you must be AK Yearling!" He said. "I am a huge fan of your books Miss Yearling. You probably get this every time you meet a fan but is it possible for you to sign something say a book? I always keep one in my locker for when I'm on break."

Daring sighed. "Well if you bring it by at the end of lunch along with a pen I'd be able to sign it for you." She replied. "I'm always happy to sign anything at any time as long that its my work."

The guard stopped in front of a door and opened it. Daring peered inside for a moment and saw a bathroom. "Here Miss Yearling." He said. "Be quick in here please. I don't want you to delay on lunch." Daring smiled and walked inside the bathroom and the guard closed the door and stood there waiting. It took but a few minutes for Daring to emerge from the bathroom now in her olive green tank top and jungle camo pants along with her black combat boots. The bag was still slung over her shoulder but puffier with the dress now in it. The guard looked at her a bit confused. "...Wait... A.K. Yearling?"

Daring looked to him grinning. "What? Can't a writer dress up like her own character at times?" She asked. "If you've attended NovelPalooza in Manehattan some writers dress up like their characters and I happen to be one of them!" The guard shook his head and let out a breath meaning 'way too much to process'.

He started to lead her down the hallway. "Okay Miss Yearling..." He said still a bit confused. "...The dining room should be just ahead. You cant miss it! If you don't mind I'm going to get the book from my locker so you can sign it!" He turned around facing her walking backwards down the hallway. "I know where you'll be but please try not to go anywhere till I get back I REALLY want this!"

Daring smiled and nodded before the guard turned around and booked it down the hallway. She stretched more as she walked. "Always gotta deal with the fans that way..." She said to herself. "...Hopefully the princess wont mind if I borrowed that book from her library... It just makes me more and more curious the longer I don't read this!" She patted her bag a bit stopping just before a wide open the door. She leaned a bit and saw one end of a table. A familiar guard came from inside. It was Ryder!

He noticed Daring at the corner of her eye. He looked to her and smiled. "There you are!" He said. "You find anything in there?" Daring nodded and pulled the book from her bag showing it to him. He looked at it closely. "Well not much to the cover but I'd love to hear your findings over lunch." He took her hand and brought her into the room. A large dining room with a long table in the middle of it. All sorts of decorations sat on the walls and on tables at the side. Princess Celestia sat at the far end of the table.

As Daring and Ryder approached Celestia shot them a smile pulling out two chairs with her magic. "Ah right on time!" She said. "I was wondering if you were going to show before dinner tonight!"

Daring blushed a bit sitting next to her. "Sorry Princess I just get so caught up in my reading!" She said showing her the book. "Apparently this is all the way in Steurope in the area of Clippersville. Talks about the old paladins fighting in the name of the heavens. One of them was a Pegasus and he wielded a broad sword and took down an entire kingdom by himself after all of his comrades had fallen. When he took down the kingdom he became king and the kingdom he had come from asked for him to return to fight but he denied their request and ended up conquering that kingdom and a few others. He basically started a revolution that ended up costing him his life leaving his family alone. They moved to Equestria after fears of losing their lives as well."

Ryder and Celestia looked to each other. "You're lucky to go on this adventure Ryder!" Celestia said. "I've heard of this legend. The broadsword is encased in stone and the only one who can pull it from its resting place is a descendant of the king himself. All others who have tried have been humiliated in the town square. Each colt and mare that tried to pull the sword has failed. To this day they say his blood line has still ran on wards."

Ryder let out an interested 'oooh'. "That is awesome but there's one problem..." He said. "...How are we going to get the sword if its in stone? I know we can try and pull it out but I don't wanna have your name besmirched by a Steuropean magazine or news paper Daring!" He crossed his arms and sat back in the chair.

Daring sighed and closed the book stuffing it back into her bag. "You're right Ryder..." She said. "... My books wont be popular if my name was all over the news saying I failed to pull a sword.... They'd even put a picture of me being humiliated.... I'd just die..."

Celestia sighed resting her elbows on the table as she interlocked her fingers covering her mouth. "...Well Daring Do wouldn't be humiliated but A.K. Yearling would..." She said. "... Perhaps I could send you to a tailor and a wig maker to conceal your identity? Give you a new alias just so you aren't made fun of." She glanced over at Ryder. "You'll have to do that too Ryder. If you're humiliated so will my entire protection making me look weak.... I'd like to keep my royal guard looking strong so those griffons don't try anything stupid... Last time a griffon tried getting to my castle by hopping the wall someone at their post nodded off and let that little shit get to the grand entrance before getting stun gunned and nearly shot... It's a good thing that guard is gone now... More guards alert means a strong field of protection."

Ryder looked to her. "...A force field?" He asked a bit confused. Celestia sighed and nodded clapping her hands together.

"Sorry my mind is just... Ugh that guard I just let go pissed me off..." Celestia said as a few earth ponies came in pushing carts with a metal dome on top of it. "... Well I normally clear my mind with food anyways..." A colt and mare earth pony came to the corners of the table at either side of  Celestia and set a metal dome in front of the three ponies that sat before them. A fourth dome was set in the middle of the three ponies. Each of the domes were taken off revealing a specific food for the diners.

The mare cleared her throat. "For Ryder we have cucumber and squash stir-fry with apples and oranges mixed in with a few red peppers scattered about." She said describing the sizzling food on the guard's plate. "For the guest A.K. Yearling we have given her chips and salsa as a side to a hayburger topped with habanero peppers and for the princess we have prepared veggie kabobs composed of cherry tomatoes, steamed celery, garlic halves, bell pepper and baby carrots. We have also glazed it with fresh squeezed lime juice from the ripest of limes!" The serving mare and colt bowed and backed away from the table. "Have a nice meal!"

The serving colt gave a noise almost like he was choking on something as he shot standing straight. He quickly removed the metal dome on the middle table revealing three slices of chocolate cake sitting on individual plates. "Almost forgot we have cake prepared just for a mid day's sugar intake!" He said still trying to be civil. "Forgive me for almost forgetting thy sweets princess!"

Celestia gave a warm smile picking up a fork. She waved the mare and colt away. "You are forgiven for now." She said. "Leave us to eat now." The ponies nodded and pushed the carts back away into a door way.

They sat there and ate their food, Ryder like a pig, Celestia and Daring like they were at a fancy restaurant. Celestia didn't look at Ryder as he shoveled bite after bite of stir-fry into his mouth. Daring couldn't help but watch Ryder as she finished up her hay burger. Just as Ryder finished up his food daring slid the plate of chips and salsa towards him and got up from her chair. She pushed it in and walked around to the other side and sat next to Ryder. Celestia slid the plate of chips in between her guard and guest using her magic. "I hope you two plan on sharing those!" She said. "I want you two to be well fed before sending you anywhere! If someone got sick I'm not taking responsibility on it! It's all on you!"

Ryder gave a laugh and burped during the laugh. "Woops excuse me!" He said blushing a bit. He reached for a chip and took it dipping it in the salsa. "You know me princess! Iron gut inside and out!" Celestia gave a laugh as Ryder looked to Daring who was already snacking on a few of the chips from the plate. "You gonna be good Daring?"

Daring swallowed her mouth full of chips and nodded before wiping her mouth with a napkin. She looked to the princess. "May I get something to drink princess? I haven't had much since last night and those were some good shots..." She said. "Vodka mixed with OJ and a little bit of mint leaf to garnish.... Surprised I didn't wake up with a hangover..."

Celestia smiled and nodded swallowing a bite of food. She clapped her hands and two unicorn butlers appeared. "Yes princess?" They said bowing in respect to her.

Celestia cleared her throat. "Bring us some drinks please!" She said. "My usual drink for me, Ryder will have a root beer and for A.K. Yearling I want you to bring her a glass of champagne!" She looked to Daring. "Will that be okay Miss Yearling?"

Daring shook her head. "Sorry princess but I'll just have a regular cola please." She said. "I wanna save my drinking for when this guy gets off the clock." She nudged Ryder making him blush.

Celestia smiled. "Alright so my usual, a root beer and a regular cola." She said. The butlers bowed and hurried off to the kitchen. The princess looked back at Ryder and Daring. "Alright Miss Do I've got you a room for the night but I may set you up in Ryder's room! I gave him a room after he was divorced and just kicked out of his home. Thank goodness he had Shining Armor help store his stuff. It wasn't a lot but he did have a hard time finding a place to live."

Daring looked to Ryder as she took the last chip. "Is that true Ryder?" She asked. Ryder hesitantly nodded and sighed. "Ryder if you'll let me... I'd like to rest in your room for the night..."

Ryder froze up after swallowing a mouth full of chips. He just sat there. Celestia looked at him worried as she took another bite of her food. She waved her hand in front of his face. "Ryder? Hello? Problem in there?" She said. Nothing. "Ryder! C'mon snap out of it!"

Daring nudged Ryder as the butlers came back to the table. One had two frosty mugs of soda while the other had a large glass that looked like it had a cherry soda in it with cherries in it and a few limes to garnish. As they set the drinks in front of the distinguished drinkers Daring slapped Ryder a bit. He let out a yelp of pain holding his cheek. "There we are!" Daring said setting herself back to her laid back position.

Ryder shook his head snapping back to reality and looked to Daring as she sipped her drink. "Sorry... I just... I wasn't expecting that..." He said blushing a bit. "If I do that again tonight you just slap me up and down my room till I snap out of it... Just... Try not to make a lot of noise because if the night time guards start hearing you smacking me they wont take you lightly when they tackle you and arrest you."

Daring smiled a bit as she sipped at her drink more. Ryder grabbed his drink and sipped it as well. Celestia took one sip of her drink and suddenly spit it to the side. "WHAT THE HELL IS IN THAT?!" She yelled. The butlers cowered. One took the drink away before taking it back to the kitchen. "Ugh that was the worst thing I've tasted! WHO THE FUCK MADE THAT DRINK?!"

The butler grasped his tray a bit shakey. He cleared his throat. "It's that new chef you hired madam." He said. "He made it while your usual chef is out sick."

Celestia looked to the butler. "Send him in here NOW!" She snapped. The unicorn butler nodded and hurried to the kitchen. Celestia crossed her arms and looked to Daring and Ryder. "Really glad we all didn't order a cocktail... That was AWFUL!"

Ryder chugged the rest of his drink and set the mug down on the table letting out a loud burp that echoed off the walls of the nearly empty room. He blushed covering his mouth. "Oops! Sorry princess!" He said.

Celestia smiled just as a chef came out of the kitchen. She looked at him as he bowed in respect to her. "Were you the one that made me my drink?" She asked.

The chef rose to his feet. "Y-yes Princess Celestia!" He said a bit scared. "I followed instructions just as it was written!"

Celestia looked to Ryder and Daring. "You two can go." She said. "I don't want you to see this!" Ryder nodded and got up from his chair. Daring was half way done with her soda as she got up, the mug still in her hand.

As they left they heard Celestia yelling at the cook. Ryder looked to Daring trying to ignore the yells of anger. "...Sorry you had to see that..." He said scratching his neck nervously. "Celestia hired him after the recent cook got fired for being drunk on the job. Yours truly had to take him out and drive him home in his own friggen car. It was hell trying to get his keys."

Daring took the mug away from her lips. "Its the first time I've seen a princess spout off like a volcano!" She said surprised. "But enough about that is your answer to my question a yes or a no Ryder? I'd wanna make sure my biggest fan sleeps alright knowing he's accompanying me on my adventure!" She sipped at her drink again.

Ryder gave a chuckle as he stretched a bit. "Sure bunk with me!" He said. He looked at her and inspected her. "Wait a second... I think you forgot something..."

Daring hummed a bit and looked at him after chugging the rest of her drink. She held the mug out now inspecting herself. "Ah shit... Forgot my bag." She said. She looked back at him. "I'll go and grab it. You want something more to drink?" Ryder shook his head as she backed away. "Alright just wait here and I'll be back!" Ryder gave a thumbs up and the camouflaged Pegasus hurried down the hall back into the dining hall. The princess still sat at the end of the table. The chef was gone.

As Daring approached the princess smiled looking to her. "Ah back for another drink?" Celestia asked.

Daring gave a nervous laugh. "Yeah but... That isn't exactly why I'm here..." She said kneeling by her original seat. She reached under the table and pulled up her bag. She brought it up and looked to the princess. "This is why I came back. Couldn't forget it." She looked inside and pulled the book from it. "And I don't wanna lose this baby."

Celestia smiled and giggled a bit. "That you don't." She said. She noticed a glimmer come to her eye and she saw a guard approaching with a book and a pen in hand.

Daring tilted her head and looked behind her seeing the guard. She smiled putting the book in her bag and throwing it over her shoulder. "There you are! I was wondering when you'd show up!" Daring said as the guard bowed in respect to the princess.

The guard rose to his feet and handed her the book and pen. "I'm soooo sorry I took so long!" He said. "I got a bit lost after Shining Armor stopped me!"

Daring smiled signing his book. "So I get to meet prince Shining Armor eh?" She said.

As she finished signing the princess gave a little laugh. "You're drinking with him and Ryder later aren't you?" She said. Daring nodded handing the book back to the guard. "Well I hope Cadence doesn't mind dealing with a drunk husband. He drinks a bit too much."

Daring chuckled and gave the book back. "He cant be that bad of a drinker!" She said. "I drink a bit but I can handle my booze."

Celestia gave a little laugh as the guard left the room. "You'd be surprised. about that. He drank so much he was still feeling it the day after he woke up with a hang over." She said. "Cadence was sooooo ticked! I'm glad he was at Ryder's when that happened. Cadence could've really ripped his head off if he came home drunk... Speaking of Ryder where is he?"

Daring set her glass down on the table and smiled. "Waiting for me in the hall." She said. "I should get back to him so we can go back to my place so I can grab a few things. Tomorrow we wanna train and get to Clippersville."

Celestia smiled as Daring started for the door. "Waiiit a second there Miss Yearling!" She said. Daring turned back to her. "You have to have a way to get to Clippersville! Tell Ryder to take my jet! It's a few days by boat and I'd rather you get there within hours!"

Daring's jaw dropped as she stopped just before the door. "You mean it?!" She asked shocked. Celestia nodded smiling humbly. As Daring backed out she bowed to her. "Thank you Princess! You wont regret it!" She waved at the princess before dashing down the hall excited for the trip. She saw Ryder down the hall talking with a white unicorn colt with a blue mane. His golden armor had a blue shield in the middle of his chest with a purple star in the middle of it. Three white stars sat above it. "Ryder! Ryder!"

Ryder looked down the hall and was immediately met by Daring hugging him. "Woah girl where's the fire?!" He asked.

The unicorn stallion smiled. "Ah you must be A.K. Yearling!" The colt said as Ryder pried Daring off. "Or should I call you Daring Do?"

Daring faced the colt blushing a bit. "Either is fine sir. You must be Shining Armor!" She replied shaking his hand. "Hopefully you don't drink so much this time!"

Shining sighed turning down the hall and started walking with Ryder and Daring at his side. "Is that what Princess Celestia told you?" He said. "I only drank that time because it was the day after my birthday and Cadence just wanted me to prolong it. I took a few friends and went to a bar but woke up just slightly off my bed."

Daring laughed as Ryder wrapped his arm around her. "So what's the news?" He asked.

Daring's laugh died down and she cleared her throat. "I just got some great news!" She said. "Celestia said we can take her private jet to Steurope tomorrow!"

Shining whistled as they walked. "Woah I guess I owe Celestia a big old thanks for that!" Ryder said. He looked to Daring. "I'll show you to my quarters and then we can get to your place to pick up some things you need. Then we get to the castles bar and we get WASTED!" Ryder and Shining bumped fists cheering a bit.

Daring let out a sigh. "Cmon Ry you gotta fly us to Clippersville don't you?" She said.

Ryder thought for a moment. "Fuck you're right..." He said. "...Maybe just a beer or two... Maybe we can get someone else to fly it?" He pondered at the idea. Daring looked to Shining and shook her head a bit.

Shining smiled and punched Ryder in the shoulder. "You dunce you can get other guards to fly while you and Daring kick back!" He said. "You can drink as much as you want tonight Ry. I'll try and stay sober long enough to get you back to your room."

Ryder grunted a bit rubbing his arm as Daring gave a laugh. After a couple hours Ryder, Shining and Daring were sitting in a fancy looking bar. Daring had a martini in hand while Shining and Ryder were doing shots over at another table. Daring sighed playing with the olive on a tooth pick. "...Guess I haven't drained the world of its treasures then..." She said to herself giving a smile. "....I'm actually bringing a fan, old enough to get sloppy drunk, with me to Steurope.... A royal guard at that... If I could get one treasure without Ahuizotl trying to steal it from me It would be a great adventure... But... It'd be a boring book..." She picked up the toothpick with the olive in it and ate it flicking the tooth pick aside. Suddenly she felt someone tap on her shoulder. She turned and saw an earth pony colt with a black mane swept to one side. He wore a red shirt which was ripped at the sleeves. The slacks he wore were stained with who knows what. "Piss off you're ruining my mood here." Daring said going back to her drink.

The colt sat next to her slamming his beer bottle down. "Aw Cmon baby you know you want me!" He said in a drunken slur. Daring turned away from him. "Aw I getcha ya need- *hic* - More to drink... What ever you n-need is on me...."

Daring grunted. "I'm perfectly capable of buying my own drinks thank you!" She snapped raising her glass to her lips. Just as she was about to sip from it the colt grabbed her arm and pulled her close. She retaliated by letting out a scream and trying to pull away. Ryder and Shining both looked back at Daring and sprang into action.

"ROYAL GUARD STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING!" They both yelled.

Ryder grabbed the colt whipped him to the ground putting him in a head lock as Shining pulled Daring aside. "You have the right to remain silent!" Ryder said.

Daring watched as Ryder took cuffs from his pocket and clasped them on to each wrist of the drunken earth pony colt who was struggling. "'Ey lemmee go!" He said trying to break free. "Y-You should arrest that... Whore for.... Whoring....." He slurred his words even more before a bit of vomit came shooting from his mouth onto the floor. "...She asked me for sex...."

Daring huffed and broke away from Shining squatting down by the colts face. "Listen here you little shit!" She said. The colt looked up at her groaning. "I'm no fucking whore you... You.... STUPID FUCKING PERV!" She spit on his face standing up. She walked back to Shining and shot him a grin. "Hope that piece of crap rots from the inside out."

Shining shot her a grin. "Oh don't worry, we'll put him in the drunk tank and slap him with sexual battery charges." He said. "Any other charges?"

Daring thought for a moment. "Public drunkenness?" She said. "Maybe assault? Yeah Assault sounds good."

Shining nodded and went over just as Ryder stood the colt up. "I got it from here Ryder. You just get the victim's story." He said winking.

Ryder winked at him as Shining gripped the colt's shoulder and hands. The Pegasus colt hurried over to Daring a bit worried. "Ma'am I need you to come with me." Ryder said. "I need your side of the story while my partner gets Drunky McGee outta here." He pointed over his shoulder at Shining who was already dragging the drunk colt out of the bar.

Daring nodded and hugged Ryder. "Thank you sir. I hope its alright I do this... He really scared me...." She said.

Ryder hugged her. "It's okay I'll allow it." He said. He broke the hug and took her hand starting to take her towards the door leading out of the bar. It was nearly dark outside. The red sky lie over them almost like the castle right down the road. He looked to Daring. "You okay?"

Daring nodded and gave a sigh. "...That guy really did scare me... Stupid ass drunk..." She said shivering a bit.

"Hey SLUT!" Someone yelled out. Daring turned around and saw the drunk colt lying against the wall with Shining Armor holding him down.

Daring flipped him off before Shining's horn glowed making a can appear. He grabbed it and sprayed it in the colts face. Ryder gave a laugh and turned Daring back around putting her arm to her side again. "He's gonna pay for it in the morning." Ryder said.

Daring nodded. "I bet. You still gonna take the report?" She asked.

"Yeah I gotta..." Ryder replied stretching a bit. "I just hope he didn't ruin your day with that."

Daring looked to him and giggled. "He didn't but what would make this day even better is... Well... I cant really tell you now can I?" She said. "You'd probably blab about it to your cousin or the royal guard."

Ryder let out a little groan. "Come on please tell me? I promise I wont tell!" He said.

Daring hummed and looked at him as they walked. He was giving her a puppy dog face just as if a little kid was with her. "Maybe if you ask me nicely after you file that report." She said.
