Chapter 1: Prologue

Prologue

Camp Tikihana 2006

Carrot Cake’s eyes scanned over the wave of kids reuniting with their fillies and colts. It was the end of summer camp, and Carrot wanted to get home as soon as possible. Cakes were known for breaking valuable bones in the wild.

Pinkie had went with her friend Rarity, like always. He had to admit, it would be such a good bonding experience for the kids.

He smiled when he saw the familiar sight of a afro-like wild pink mane. He lifted his hoof and waved. “Pinkie Pie!” He called. “Over here, hun!”

An eight-year-old Pinkie slowly walked over to her second father, lugging her bag. Carrot smiled. “Now, how about a big hug from my favorite little filly I haven’t seen in two weeks?”

Pinkie sighed, and gave him a hug. “Hi, Mr.Cake,” she said glumly. “Can we go now?” She asked, releasing from the hug.

“Of course not! Where’s Rarity?”

“I think she may have been abducted by aliens,” Pinkie replied.

Carrot looked up. “Oh, there she is! Hi,Rarity!” A ten-year-old Rarity waved, gleefully standing beside a filly about her age holding string in her mouth which was attached to a piñata. Pinkie sighed.

Carrot looked down at the melancholy filly behind him. “You two didn’t team up on the piñata contest this year, did you?” He asked gently.

The pink filly shook her head. “No. She wanted to team up with Star Dust, who wins every year, and I had to be with Marmalade, and she’s only six!” She looked up at her father figure with sad eyes. "It's just that we always enter the contest. It's just not the same without Rarity!"

Carrot smiled in sympathy, and patted her fluffy head. "Don't you worry about it, ginger snap. Your'e still her best friend, just remember that."

Rarity and Star Dust walked over to them. “You keep the piñata,” Rarity insisted.

StarDust handed her the winning blue ribbon. “Okay, well, you keep the ribbon, Queen Bee.” The girls laughed as they slid their hooves together, and wiggled their tails in unison. Pinkie Pie made a small huff.

“Hi, Mr.Cake!” Rarity greeted.

“Hello Rarity. We better get goin.’ Mrs. Cake baked a special treat for you girls for when we get home!” He went over to get Rarity’s bags as Star Dust said goodbye and left.

“Hey, Queen Bee,” Pinkie grumbled. “If you’re looking for your pocket knife, it’s still in my back!”

Rarity rolled her eyes. “Hey, where’s your clown piñata?”

“It’s not a clown! And wouldn’t you like to know?” Carrot Cake returned with Rarity’s bag in tow. “Alright gals, let’s hit it!”

Camp Tikihana Oh, what you are

Reaches near and reaches far

From white capped mountains to crystal lakes

Sing out loud for Riki's sake

Camp Tikihana you're so true

We'll come back and we'll love you

Deep beneath the surface, a piñata floated at the bottom of Lake Tahikihana, it’s eyes wide open in the dark.

Eight years later, a mare with a shoulder-length curly blonde mane and a light pink coat sat on the couch in her cabin, watching TV in the dark.

“Who are you? What are you doing?” A pony in a mask swung the axe at his victim, making the unfortunate young pony scream.

The mare shivered, and held her pillow close to her. “That’s what you get for being a harlot, thank you very much,” She said with a shake of her head. She sniffled.

"What do you want!?"

Her ears suddenly perked up. Quickly, she reached for the remote, and put the movie she was watching on pause.

Creaaak….

She jumped up from the couch, her pink nightgown falling just beneath her knees. She grabbed a nearby bat, just in case. “Hello? Is somepony there?” She tiptoed around the cabin. “I have a bat…”

SNAP!

Feeling her heart jump in her chest, she rounded a corner, holding up the bat. In front of her, there was an open window, the curtains flowing freely with the wind. The pony sighed in utter relief. “Phew!” She closed the window and locked it for good measure.

EEEEEEEKKKK!!

She gasped as the kettle on the stove beside her started whistling. Groaning, she put the kettle off the stove.

R-R-Riiing!

Completely tired of being scared to death, the mare hastily picked up the phone. “..Hello?”

She gave an enormous sigh. “Oh, Buddy, thank God. No I’m fine. It’s just so quiet when you’re here all alone. I took some cold medicine; I think my eyes are playing tricks on me.” She sniffed. “No, no, no, you guys go have fun. I’m just going to drink some tea and hit the sack. Tomorrow I’ll be good as new.” She smiled. “Okay. Bye.”

As soon as she hung up the phone, she saw some leaves rustling outside. Sure is windy tonight, She thought.

She got out a mug from one of the cabinets, and made herself tea. Her nose wrinkled from just one sip. “Ugh! Beyond awful.”

She opened the fridge to find a sweetener of some sort, when she saw a message on a piece of paper at the very front scrawled in blood red;

I SEE YOU.

The mare backed up immediately, dropping the cup of tea, the mug shattering on the floor.

As she backed up against a window, a figure broke through the glass, wrapping it’s arms around her.

Blood-chilling screams filled the cabin.

"Oh, Pinkie, I can't wait to get started on this dress!" Rarity squealed. "And you have just the right body type to model for it.... you and my client are about the same size."

Rarity and Pinkie Pie strolled through Ponyville, the sun shining brightly over the town. Pinkie bounced up and down. "I can't wait!" When she looked ahead of her, she stopped dead in her tracks, her mouth hung open.

"What is it, Pinkie?" Rarity asked. She followed her friend's gaze, and she gasped in horror at the sight before them.
