A group of friends by the names of Snips and Snails were currently walking along a path to gather soul samples for their history professor in Ponyville's community college. Snips was currently minding his own business when he heard snails call his name.

"Hey Snips check this out." He states as he picks up a red colored stone.

"What is it?"

"It could be another priceless gemstone."

"Really? Wait who's is it?" Snails pointed out.

"I don't think anyone has claimed it yet so let's just take it for ourselves." Snips added as he shoved it in his bag.

"Okay then."

"Besides, with the size of this baby, it's gotta be worth something once we-" Snips stops as he notices something out of the ordinary.

"What's wrong Snips?"

"Uh Snails, what's wrong with your shadow?" He then looks down and notices it moving. His shadow grew bigger causing the sky to grow dark. As it grew, a dark portal opened with a pulse that shook the ground that Snips and snails were standing on. When the portal disappeared, a black looking figure appeared. It had its head down.

"Aw look how cute it is. What is it?" Snails asked.

"I think it's a black hedgehog." Snips added.

"I don't think it is. When does a hedgehog wear sneakers?" Snails stated causing Snips to look down. That was when the figure lifted his head. Its entire body was pitch black as the night sky, with a white chest tuft, and grey streaks at his tips.

"Why is it looking at us like that?"

"Give me the Chaos Emerald." The figure finally spoke.

"Wait what?" Snips stated

"What's a Chaos Emerald?" Snails added. This only seemed to aggravate the figure.

"Maybe I didn't make myself clear." He help out his hand and that was when everything froze. Snips jumped back in fear when he saw his best friend coughing up blood. Snails looked down to see a energy spear through his stomach. As the figure pulled it out, he started to bleed profusely from the would.

"SNAILS!!!!" He shouted as he crawled to his best friend who was now on the ground dying.

"What was that for you bastard!? We don't even know what you were talking about! We were just minding our own business!" Snips yelled in anger and fear.

"I said give me the Chaos Emerald."The figure repeated.

"Fore the love of Celestia, we didn't even know what you were talking about to begin with! What's a Chaos Emerald?" Snips repeated again.

"Picture a red gemstone you picked up." That was when Snips took the stone out of his bag. "Is this it?" Snips asked

"Yes that would be it!" The figure stated.

"Fine, take it. Just leave us alone." He stated as he threw the stone towards him. "Please Snails just hang on till we get help." He stated having hope, but sadly that was short lived when he heard energy hum from behind him.

"Wh-wh-what are you doing? I-I gave you the rock." Snips stuttered as he looked behind him and noticed the figure trying to attack him.

"Just a little insurance to keep anyone out of my way." He stated as he brought out an energy ball.

"No....Please....don't." Snips pleaded but it was on deaf ears as the figure killed him and Snails but not before Snip's scream was heard. "Aaaaaaaaahhhhaaaaaaaaa!"

"That's one Emerald down. Just six more and I shall control the entire universe." The figure stated as it flew off to who knows where.
