Starburst trotted peacefully through Ponyville huge smile adorning her face, sun was blazing in its zenith bathing Equestria in it’s precious rays of light. Most ponies would probably call it a “nice day” but for Starburst it was something much more.

Today was her birthday and her friend just gave her a present that she would never expect, for only today she gave Starburst her own magic.

She couldn’t even describe how excited and happy she was right now, the only other moment in her life that came close to this level of bliss was when Prism got burnt and beat down by Claire.

Just remembering that made her chuckle a bit.

And there she was smiling like an idiot trotting faster and faster towards the train station, after all she had only one full day before horn on her head would disappear so it was quite obvious that losing even a minute was not acceptable.

Starburst arrived at the station only to find out next train will departure in twelve minutes.

Star sat down on one of the benches irritated at first but she managed to quickly calm herself down ’No, today is going to be great I shall not get irritated by such small matters, that’s right today nothing shall make me angry, today will be perfect.’.

That’s what she hoped for, but unfortunately no matter how hard she tried she couldn’t focus on anything else than time, and so seconds felt like minutes and minutes felt like hours.

Starburst was slowly getting back into irritation as she constantly looked into the direction of the huge clock on the wall of train station, each time she was surprised that only a minute or so passed.

‘Nine more minutes, this sure is harder than expected, maybe I should just fly to Canterlot and…. Ohh right.’ Starburst sighed but calmed herself once again, she decided not to check on time anymore hoping that this way it will run faster, it would probably but what she didn’t expect, was meeting somepony she knew on the station.

“Hey Starbu…. What the heck is on your head?!”

Starburst eyes opened wide as she recognized the voice, gritting her teeth she turned towards Prism Bolt who was standing right in front of her, with these two magnificent eyes staring right at her horn.

“An unicorn horn, what does it look like to you?”

“….I think I hit my head one too many times, weren’t you like a pegasus just yesterday?”

Starburst facehoofed “Yes I was, this is Annie’s spell, she switched my wings with her horn so I can use magic for twenty-four hours.”

Prism scratched his head in minor confusion “What would you need magic for?”

Starburst sighed knowing very well that explaining her relationship with her mother to him is most probably pointless, so instead she used an argument she knew he will buy.

“For fun.”

Prism stood there with stoic expression for a few moments before blurting simply “Seems legit.”

“Thanks, now that we established that is there anything else you want to know?”

“Well yes actually, I was looking for you cause I had something important to ask and you’re the only pony that can help.”

Starburst cocked one of her eyebrows not expecting something like that to be the case “Oh really? What is it then?”

Prism looked around nervously, he looked like he was… embarrassed? Starburst now got even more confused she almost never saw him in that state.

“I was wondering if perhaps, well…. If Candy is onto me.”

“What?” Starburst asked now utterly confused.

“Well recently she’s been around me all the time, not that I complain or anything, she’s cute and funny and cool to hang out with but…”

Starburst’s eyes once again went wide as Prims was speaking, Candy and Prism? Now that she thought about it, he might be right.

Star opened her mouth but was interrupted by the noise of conductor’s whistle signaling the departure of the train, she quickly stood up and ran towards the nearest entrance “Prism we will talk about that tomorrow okay?” Starburst shouted behind her hoping he heard, sometimes he was annoying that’s for sure but he still was her friend, and she will not hesitate to help her friend if she can.

Train started and Starburst sighed her excitement coming back once again, she had to wait again but every minute was getting her closer towards the castle and her mother.

Starburst arrived at the Canterlot and quickly made her way towards the castle where her mother was at the moment, sure Twilight had her own castle back in Ponyville but she still spent a lot of time here in Canterlot mostly helping young unicorns study magic.

And this time one of these unicorn will be her own daughter, at least for today.

After few minutes of quick run she was already standing before the gates of great Canterlot Castle, without hesitation she stepped through it royal guards not even trying to stop her, she was a Princess after all.

Her excitement grew with each step but to her surprise she was also getting quite nervous, after asking few guards and other servants about her mother she stopped before doors to the great Canterlot library.

’Well now or never’ Starburst thought and knocked few times on the doors.

Nothing.

Starburst cocked her eyebrow and knocked again, still nothing ’She isn’t in here? But… Starburst shook her head and with an angry scowl on her muzzle she opened the door and stepped inside.

To her surprise her mother was sitting at one of the tables, Starburst facehoofed as she realized why wasn’t she responding, Twilight was of course too engaged in reading some books.

Star cleared her throat few times, after not earning any attention from her mother she tried the more immediate way.

“Mom? Hey mom!”

She shouted but to no avail, once again quite irritated she walked up to her mother and nudged her a few times with hoof.

“Huh?” Twilight suddenly realized she wasn’t alone and turned around “Oh hey Starburst what’re you doing here…” It was then that Twilight finally noticed a new aspect of her daughter appearance.

“Star is that an unicorn horn?”

Starburst smiled and nodded.

“But how… wait let me guess, it was Annie right? Pegasi to Unicorn magic transfer spell.”

Starburst nodded once again not even surprised that her mother guessed it.

“That’s actually quite astonishing she was able to use that spell, but do you mind me asking what for?”

Starburst coughed a few times. “Well Annie did that as a birthday present for me, so that I could spend today learning about magic from you.”

Star’s words echoed in Twilights ears for few moments before she finally fully understood and couldn’t help but smile “Well that is extremely generous of her, giving her magic to you for twenty-four hours, for unicorn his magic and horn are very important aspects, and if we add the fact that she can only see something thanks to her magic..”

“That’s an amazing gift.” Starburst finished for her and they both chuckled.

“Very well then, I shall make sure that nothing will prevent us from spending this day together.” Twilight smiled warmly, Starburst was happy but she wanted this smile to not only be caring, she wanted her mother to be proud of her.

And she had whole day to achieve that.
