Prologue: Failure

Celestia had at last unlocked the secrets of the mysterious mirror. She had learned how to replicate, how to view countless other universes, some similar to her own, some rather unlike it. In fact, it was somewhat like a looped string, and traveling along the string brought one to a universe that differed in very subtle ways from the one that had been left. The mirror in the Crystal Palace, however, traveled across loops, bringing one to a similar, yet also different universe.

And at last, Celestia had constructed a large Portal in the Bad Lands (wouldn't want it near major population centers, right?) that could travel to a universe one loop-hop from the one the mirror linked to. She observed this universe, but saw that the principle species of it's world returned evil with revenge, allowed many of its inhabitants to starve though they had much food, allowed Tyrants to rule nations unopposed, and on top of that had this dreadful thing called... constitutional monarchy.

Celestia could not let their evil go unpunished. And so, she assembled an army of her best EUP guards, forty thousand, to be precise, and invaded the "Earth" nation of "Murica".

It was a disaster. After 4 hours of marching to the nearest city, "Farmington, New Mexico", Celestia's troops announced to everypon- er, every human there that they were taking over. Naturally, some people ran around in panic, some people laughed, and exactly 347 people called the National Guard. Celestia's army was overtaken by news helicopters about a quarter way to "Albuquerque", and within a few hours the US Army had mobilized to meet the "Alien Threat".

When asked to surrender, the US Army opened fire on the weird pony-looking things. After about an hour of fighting, Celestia realized she had made a terrible, terrible mistake, and retreated with her 35,000 remaining soldiers. Air strikes continued to hit the pony forces as they retreated, and by the time they escaped through the Portal, only 17,000 soldiers remained.

The Humans, meanwhile, had suffered 134 casualties, mostly due to laser blasts, and had captured some 4,000 POW's from the enemy. Interrogation revealed the location of the Portal, and the fact that it opened once every 30 moons. This confused many people, as they weren't sure if it was 30 moon cycles (about 2 1/2 years), or 30 moons (like as in "30 suns ago, I killed a deer"), or 30 moons (as in "Quick, grab Ganymede, Europa, Titan, and every other natural satellite you can find! We need to open a magic Portal!").

Regardless, 30 moons later, the Portal opened, and the first few divisions of the U.N. Interplanetary Invasion Taskforce stormed through the Portal, and war began in earnest... Next Chapter: Part 1: Dance Suckas, Dance Estimated time remaining: 10 Minutes
