Once upon a time, in the Kingdom of Equestria, there lived a king named Night Light and queen named Twilight Velvet. They had a son named Shining Armor, but they wanted a daughter. Soon, Twilight Velvet became pregnant with a female foal and nine months later, their daughter was born. She was a purple unicorn with a dark purple and pink-striped mane and tail. Her parents decided to name her Twilight Sparkle because of her purple fur and her sparkly glow.

On the day she was born, an unwanted guest showed up at the castle. She was Sunset Shimmer and she hated Twilight Sparkle. She walked over to the newborn foal and announced: "On her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her hoof on a spinning wheel and die!" A beam of light came flying out of her horn and struck Twilight Sparkle. Everybody gasped. As Sunset Shimmer left, Twilight Velvet walked over to her daughter and announced: "The princess will not die, but will sleep for a hundred years." A beam of light came out of her horn and struck her daughter.

After the incident, Night Light ordered all spinning wheels to be abolished in the kingdom of Equestria. Anybody who owned a spinning wheel burned it until nothing remained, but ashes. Many years had passed and no spinning wheels remained in the kingdom. Twilight Sparkle grew up to be a beautiful young mare. However, she remained unaware of the spell that Sunset Shimmer had cast upon her because her parents never told her about it.

One night, when Twilight Sparkle was sixteen years old, her parents and her brother went out for the night leaving her at home. Twilight Sparkle wandered the castle alone. She saw a green light glowing from the top of the stairs. She entered the room and saw Sunset Shimmer in the room with a spinning wheel. "Hello. My name is Sunset Shimmer." she said. "Would you like to try my spinning wheel?" "Of course." replied Twilight Sparkle. She walked over to the spinning wheel, pricked her hoof on its needle, and fainted! Sunset Shimmer laughed evilly. Her plan had worked perfectly.

After Twilight Sparkle fainted, a spell had been cast upon the kingdom of Equestria. Everybody who lived in the kingdom fell asleep for one hundred years just like Twilight Sparkle. What Sunset Shimmer did not know was that Twilight Sparkle was not dead. She was in a coma. She would be awoken from her coma if a handsome pony kissed her on the lips. When that happened, the spell would be broken. One hundred years had passed. The castle had become a dark and forlorn place. Vines had grown around the castle. Sunset Shimmer guarded the castle preventing anyone from entering. While she guarded her castle, Twilight Sparkle lay asleep in her bed in the highest room of the tower.

One day, a strong orange stallion with a blue mane and tail named Flash Sentry came to Equestria. He was a knight and he had heard about the spell cast upon the kingdom and decided to break it. He arrived at the castle dressed in armor. As he approached the castle, Sunset Shimmer appeared to block his path. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" she demanded. "My name is Flash Sentry and I have come to rescue the princess." replied Flash Sentry. "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" shouted Sunset Shimmer and like magic, Sunset Shimmer transformed into a hideous red monster. "It is time to DIE!" she shouted in a deep voice and blew fire at Flash Sentry. Flash Sentry ducked and the fire missed him. Flash Sentry held up his sword and said: "I challenge you to a duel!" "Bring it on!" replied Sunset Shimmer.

Flash Sentry and Sunset Shimmer had a fierce duel. Sunset Shimmer breathed fire at Flash Sentry, but his uniform and shield protected him from the blaze. At last, Sunset Shimmer gave up. She had run out of breath and fainted from exhaustion. After she fainted, Flash Sentry lifted up his sword and stabbed Sunset Shimmer in the heart. Sunset Shimmer screamed with pain. "You have killed me!" she shouted and fainted. Sunset Shimmer was dead and Flash Sentry had won the battle.

After the battle, Flash Sentry cut through the thick vines with his sword until he reached the castle door. He opened the door and ran up the stairs of the castle until he reached the bedroom on the top floor. He opened the door and saw Twilight Sparkle sleeping in the bed. Flash Sentry was smitten by her beauty. "I bestow a kiss upon this fair maiden's lips!" he announced. Flash Sentry walked over to the bed. Then he kneeled down, lifted up his visor, and kissed Twilight Sparkle on the lips. At that moment, the spell was broken and everything in Equestria returned to normal.

Twilight Sparkle opened her eyes and sat up staring at Flash Sentry. "Who are you?" she asked. "My name is Flash Sentry and I have come to rescue you." answered Flash Sentry. "What happened to Sunset Shimmer?" asked Twilight Sparkle. "Don't worry. I have killed her." replied Flash Sentry. "You have saved my life and the kingdom. Thank you very much!" said Twilight Sparkle. "Don't mention it!" replied Flash Sentry. "Twilight Sparkle, will you marry me?" asked Flash Sentry. "Of course I will." replied Twilight Sparkle. She climbed out of the bed and gave Flash Sentry a big hug and a kiss on the lips.

The next day, Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry were married and the castle was restored to its former glory. After their wedding, Flash Sentry was crowned the new prince of Equestria by Night Light. Twilight Sparkle was crowned the new princess of Equestria and was given a pair of wings, thus becoming an alicorn. Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry ruled Equestria peacefully after Twilight Sparkle's parents stepped down as king and queen. No evil witches ever returned to Equestria and everyone lived happily ever after.
