Hey, my name is Larry Foulke, but most people call me by my nickname, Solo Wing Pixy, or just Pixy for short. You don't know me, but I think it's important that I tell you this. Throughout my life I've made quite a few mistakes, and ever since I have arrived in Equestria I've been doing my best to fix those mistakes. Some times I do the right thing, and sometimes I slip back into my old ways. But I'm getting ahead of myself. You're probably wondering who I am, which doesn't surprise me. History tried its hardest to erase me from its books. I was a mercenary pilot who flew with a small republic, along side my best friend and wing man. Perhaps you have heard of the Belkan War? If you haven't, which isn't a surprise as well, again with history being a very fluid thing. But for the sake of you understanding what made me into the man I am today. I'm gonna give you what you'll see from the history books. Then I'll give you my personal information and background on the war itself and the, event that occurred during, and after it. Because, while the books are all true information. They did leave some things out, and if that was intentional, well that is only what the author can say for sure.
Now then The Belkan War, was the first large scale war for nearly a century. For decades the country known as Belka, was having a declining economy and had hit hard times. Belka however was a proud and very militaristic country, they had a code of honor, and took it very seriously. In some other countries the most famous celebrities may be movie stars, or something like that. However in Belka the most famous celebrities were their Ace Pilots. The Belkan Air Force was the pride of the country, and if you were the best they had to offer, you were pretty highly looked upon. Anyway the government of Belka needed a solution to the economic crisis in Belka. So the they decided the best course of action was to invade a small republic, called the Republic Of Utsio. Since they had large deposits of rare minerals. They rapidly and unexpectedly raised a large army, built together an enormous industry and infrastructure. The local superpowers such as Osea and Yuktobania, were taken back by the sudden spring of life by their old enemies. But still recovering from the war nearly 70 years ago, they didn't have the public support to have any direct military actions. The Republic Of Utsio was then invaded by Belka, as well as Osea and Yuktobania. Belka started pushing forward and conquored huge amounts of land. Utsio had suffered large scale military defeats and were pushed to it's last legs. Eventually things started to turn around, and the Allies were born, comprising of Utsio, Osea, Yuktobania, and the Kingdom of Sapin(Another local superpower). Despite the ferocious fighting between the great countries, the Allies started pushing forward, so much in fact that Belka launched nuclear missiles on it's own land to stop the Allied advance. Soon after the territories of Belka were demilitarized and the land split up between Osea and Yuktobania.
Long and boring, ya I know buddy, history books are like that. However what few know, is who changed the tide of that war. First guess might be me, now I did do my part and took down a lot of Belkans, probably more than everyone but him. And when I say him, I mean my best friend and wing man. Arguably the greatest pilot in history, he shot down countless Belkan fighters, and me and him, well we took on entire armies, took down super weapons, just the two of us. Our squadron which was known as Galm Team was the secret weapon the allies had. If they ever needed something gone they would send us in, and it would be gone. Personally, I did it for the money, nothing else, the war itself was just a way for me to pay rent. He, however did it because it was the right thing to do. Sure, he got paid along with me, but, he saved countless Allied comrades who were being overwhelmed. He never shot down a crippled enemy and he would never attack a non-combat unit. Eventually he became so famous, or infamous depending on who you ask, he was nicknamed The Demon Lord Of The Round Table. Because at a battlefield simply known as Area B7R, or the Round Table to the actual pilots themselves. Where the brunt of the air combat seen in the Belkan War, The Demon Lord shot down countless fighters, and took down so many Belkan Aces. He was known as a demon to the Belkans, but not just any demon, he was the Demon Lord, The Demon Lord Of The Round Table. Because when he was up there in those skies, he was a demon, he was the king, and his domain was that stretch of land known as The Round Table.
It is hard for me to put into words, how good he actually was. The best way I can possibly describe it, is imagine you're the absolute best at something. You trained your entire life, it was your focus, and what ever you did was somehow affected or is affecting what you did. And all that time of you spent practicing and honing your skill, you fought him. And he showed you up so bad, that all that work you did. All those years you spend trying to be the best, well he just made you look like a child. That is how good he was, and that was on a bad day for him. On the days that he was completly tuned in, well I am safe in saying I believe that he could have single handily took on all of Belka and won.
That being said, as much as I did it for cash, and little else. One thing, did make it personal for me, and set off a chain reaction that led me to join a terrorist organization, known as A World With No Boundaries. One mission we were flying over my home town, oh and fun fact, I am Belkan. I left my country long ago to become a mercenary. But that is a story for another time. Now back to us flying a mission over my home town, or city should I say. Allied bombers, flew over the city, and fire bombed it to ash and dust. I was horrified, I still had family down there. And though I was estranged from them, seeing my old school from the air be set to flames and reduced to rubble in less that a minute. Well, it didn't exactly sit right with me to say the least. When I returned to base, I immediately look at the causality report. Though with the ratio of survivors to dead, maybe a survivor report would have taken less time. I found my entire family among the dead. My little sister, my father, and my mother. From that moment on, I guess you can say I found a reason to fight. Though in hindsight it was the wrong reason, I got into many fights with my wing man, over why we were fighting. My wingman however couldn't find to why we were fighting. And that one day he would find out why. However those arguments with my wingman, I eventually came to realize that the cause for all this blood shed, was because of a damn border. My entire family and my home, were gone because of a border, that this entire war was caused because a little stretch of land that had rare minerals, between Belka and Utsio belonged to Utsio and not Belka...
I still flew with Utsio, as much as it hurt seeing my home destroyed, I still had a job to do. And I still had rent that needed to be paid. The war dragged on, with me and The Demon Lord, winning countless battles. Eventually I was approached by an old friend, an Osean airman. I still remember that conversation even to this day..
"Pixy, you still here?", Joshua Bristow asked. As I was repainting my left wing red after it had taken some scratches in the last battle. I turned around and saw Joshua standing there with a binder in his right hand and looking at me as if he was attempting to persuade me to something.
"Ya, I'm here, what do you need Josh?", I replied curiously eyeing the binder in his hand.
"I'm here with an offer.", he responded, giving me the binder that was in his hand.
I went through the binder, seeing that it was a casualty number from the war. Mainly civilian castualties, also it was an overhead picture was attached to it. My home, before, and after. My anger again started rising once more, as I hotly said,
"Josh what the hell is this!"
"Facts, Larry, this entire war was caused by borders. If Belka never wanted to regain control of Utsio, this war would have never have begun. You family would still be alive Pixy. And don't attempt to argue with me, I heard you and your wingman arguing the other day about it.", he said to me.
"First of all, don't eavesdrop on me ever got it? Secondly, I know they would still be alive if it wasn't for borders.", I said cooling down, before continuing, "I know they could still be alive, if this war never happened."
"Which is why, we need to make sure this never happens again correct?", he said, with a raised eye brow.
"That's a dumb question, but ya of course. But I still don't see where you are getting at..", I said confused.
"Here take this card.", Joshua said handing my a small simple card with a name and address on it, with the instructions saying Come alone..
As I was reading the card, Josh must have left, because when I looked up he was gone. If that wasn't ominous I don't know what is, I thought to myself.
I did go to the meeting, and found that a group of legendary pilots and soldiers and even a few politicians were gathered, to form a group known as a A World With No Boundaries, I initially hesitated and left. I argued there, there that this was just another extremist faction, that would be snuffed by the world. Before I left however Josh grabbed my arm and said to me a sentence I don't think I'll ever forget.
"Larry, when the time comes, and It will, find us here." I left then without a lingering thought in my mind.
Afterwards me and my wing man fought more battles. And of course, won more battles. One day during a battle, Joshua even contacted me asking if I was ready to ditch my wingman. I declined still not fully wanting to betray him. Eventually the war reached a decline, and Belka was being beat back at every turn. Then, they did the one thing, that completely set me over the edge. They launched nuclear missiles, on their own homeland, my homeland to stop the Allies. Seeing all my fellow kinsman burn in a second by a nuclear blast set me over the edge. I stupidly fired my missiles at my wingman. Of course I didn't land a hit on him. He was far too good to be taken down by me, at least back then. I left him alone to deal with another wave of Belkan fighters, I still regret that decision to this day. The moment I forsake my loyalty and my best friend, for a cause that only now do I realize was faulty to begin with. However back then, I was a lot younger, and much more arrogant man.
I went to the meeting place that Joshua gave me, the place where we first met, you remember. Any way this is where the story really gets interesting. Now getting info on me and my wing man is sketchy to say the least. The 66th Air Squadron, or Galm Team, was the enigma of the Belkan War. Maybe you can get a few documents and reports on The Demon Lord. But on old Galm 2, Solo Wing Pixy? No way, not as easy, and down right impossible after I joined A World With No Boundaries. Truth be told, I am rather ashamed of what I did with that group, we had the right intentions, but are our means. Well, let's say the only thing we had to justify ourselves when we looked into the mirror, was that the end justified the means. Or at least that's what I told myself to get out of bed in the morning. And what I said to myself, when I thought of my best friend. I knew he survived the battle, he was too good to die like that. Some of you may be questioning why I didn't bring my wingman with me? Well, that is a good question, and one I wondered myself. In the end I knew he would never have accepted, we were far too radical for him. But I still never gave the effort to at least try. I mean didn't I owe him that much?
It took me a while to figure that out for myself. However at the time, I was blinded by my beliefs on the world. Joshua had me turn in my F-15C, because he thought if I kept it I may, become "nostalgic about The Demon Lord", of course now I know it was a means to control me. But when he offered me the chance to fly the ADFX-02 Morgan? Which by the way if you don't know, was the most technologically advanced jet in existence at the time. It boasted top speeds, top maneuverability, and stability. Plus it came with a fully functional, Tactical Laser System on the top. Which could cut through anything, in the blink of an eye. I knew then, that I was unstoppable, or so I thought at least.
Joshua and the rest of the group, came to me, as I was their top ace. Saying, we stole this ADFX-02, to further increase our goals to set the world free. Now fly it Pixy, and show the world you are above, even the Demon Lord. I will admit, however, one look at her, she was a beauty. I immediately took some red paint, and painted the right wing red. My signature mark on any of my planes, she was ready to fly. Though, I did like my F-15C more, the ADFX-02 was almost too perfect. She moved to smoothly, I missed the feeling of the jerkiness of the turn in the F-15C, and the vibrations when you kicked on the afterburners and started moving at supersonic speeds. Though I won't complain about the Tactical Laser, that thing to this day, I consider the greatest weapon I have ever used in my life.
Tragically however, the day I first flew the ADFX-02 Morgan was also, my last. It was a cold snowy day, the leaders of the A.W.W.N.B(A World With No Boundaries). Decided now was the time to strike, The Demon Lord had defeated our greatest air squadron. And taken out our mobile command center. If the world couldn't accept as it was now, we would wipe it out, and start new. We had our secret weapon V2. A highly destructive missile, that carried 12 Nuclear ICBM's as it's payload. Developed by Belka, for use of Mass Retaliation in the event of a nuclear strike on its land. It had enough Nuclear payload to wipe out the world, via nuclear winter. It was stationed in our HQ, known as the Avalon Dam. A former dam re purposed as a super fortress. It did its job, when the Allied forces found out our plan, they sent an army of fighter jets and bombers at us. And they stopped every single one, but two. The Demon Lord, and his new wing man. Patrick James Beckett. A kid, who flew with another mercenary squadron known as Crow Squadron. He was young, idealistic, and green. But a good kid, and I never treated him the way I should have. I constantly chastised him for his idealism, and his all sunshine and rainbows picture of the world.
Anyway, the new Galm Team had taken out pretty much, everything they possibly could have to stop us. They thought if they took out the main base from the inside it would stop the V2 launch. They did do that, however it didn't stop the V2, because I had the controls for it rigged in my ADFX-02 Morgan. When The Demon Lord and Patrick had thought they had saved the world... I did the thing I think I regret more than anything, including betraying my wing man, trying to destroy the world, and among all the other bad decisions I have made. I fired my TLS(Tactical Laser System) at Patrick. Which killed him instantly, you know, I heard from some of the guys back at base, he had a girl back waiting for him. And I just ended what ever the future had by a press of a button, funny how that works isn't it?
After I killed Patrick, The Demon Lord was not happy. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I had just shot down and killed Patrick.
"So, have you found a reason to fight yet? Buddy?", I said in a condescending tone. Which was met by my wingman's trade mark silence. As he fired two missiles at me which I dodged.
"Here comes the snow." I said, as the snow started falling.
"Those who survive on the battlefield start to think they're invisible, I bet you do too, Buddy.", I spat at the word Buddy. As I was dodging his missiles and machine gun fire from his F-15C. We dodged and fired at each other each nearly hitting its mark, but just missing. He hit me a few times though, however I had an ECM countermeasure which activated the missiles before they could actually hit their mark. I kept firing my TLS at him, but he dodged with expert precision.
"Can you see any borders from here?" I asked him over the radio. Only to be met by silence, "What have borders given us?" I ask, before continuing, "We're going to start over from scratch, that's what V2 is for.", I say almost trying to convince myself to continue fighting, for a cause I didn't know I even believed in.
"It isn't over Buddy, this is where it all starts! You know what I'm talking about right?" I say.
"There is no mercy in war, people live and people die, that's all there is to it.", I finalize.
As I finish it, we start circling around eachother looking up at one other through the cockpits. He raised his helmet visor and looked at me with pleading eyes. Eyes that said, one word, one word is all that needed to be asked.
"Why?"
I ignored it, and with adrenaline pumping through my veins and very little logic, I said,
"It's time", I then fired the V2 rocket into the atmosphere. However given it's tremendous weight it would take a few minutes for it to reach the atmosphere. A few minutes was all he needed.
"Too bad buddy, this twisted game needs to be reset, we'll start over from zero with this V2, entrust the future to the next generation", I said foolishly thinking I had won.
Knowing either one of us was to win or lose. We started to finish our dual. But not before I could get a few more comments in, to justify my self to my former best friend.
"You and I are opposite sides of the same coin, when we face each other we can finally see our true selves. There may be resemblance. But never facing in the same direction."
However, soon The Demon Lord had me beat. He found the one weakness in the Morgan, the frontal air intake. If he fired a missile there, I was done for. He turned his plane as if in a great joust we flew at eachother at great speeds, firing our missiles at one another, The Demon Lord hit me perfectly, while he rolled his plane and dodged the missile. We flew at each other our bellies of our planes facing one another at barely 10 meters distance. As I then flew a little forward before my plane exploded and I bailed out.
It was a battle for the ages, I said things to him, now I realize I didn't mean. I said things such as my and him could never truly be friends. That while we may be similar we will never face the same way. He was Yin and I was Yang. He was good, and I was evil. When we fought in those cold and snowy skies, I lost. He managed to get past all the technological advancements my ADFX-02 had. And stopped the A.W.W.N.B. from destroying the world, he was an unsung hero. After the battle he was never seen or heard from again. Perhaps he went back to Hell, to guard it. For he was the only one, I believe that could stop whatever it is from hell to get out.
He beat me, and reduced me to Zero. Because as my wing man's name suggested. Cipher causes all to resort to Zero. And Cipher, The Demon Lord Of The Round Table, was the greatest ace to ever have walked the Earth.
