Chapter 118: 118. Being a mare ain't easy (part 4)

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

The morning sun broke across the sky, slowly edging its warming rays further and further down the wall on the inside of the library from the window. Creeping slowly until it reached a certain mare who stirred uncomfortably in her bed.

"Ugh, I am so moving this bed tonight, or sleeping in the basement. I was hoping to get a few extra hours of sleep so I wouldn't have to put up with this heat as long today." Night sighed as she slowly pulled the covers from her and stepping out of the bed giving a long yawn while stretching her wings.

The pegasus made her way to the bathroom to take a quick cold shower as she could already feel her heat getting slightly worse than the previous day. The cool water calming her and waking her at the same time as it flowed over her frame.

"This is nice." She sighed until she heard a knock at the door. "Come in."

"Hey Night, I was wondering, did you have any plans for the day?" Twilight asked as she stepped into the bathroom.

"Just to avoid any and all ponies as best as I can." She chuckled as she turned the water off and stepping out of the shower. Using her magic to remove the water from her coat and give herself a quick brush.

"Well, I was asking because the stallion that you said had walked you home is downstairs. He wanted to know if you wanted to have breakfast together." She chuckled.

"Seriously? That fella must love girl time." She chuckled.

"Actually, I spoke with him about that, he seemed a little surprised by the comment but he wanted to let you know that he isn't gay, he was just being courteous because of your bad experience earlier in the day. He didn't want to do anything that would offend you." Twilight smiled innocently.

Night looked at her rather shocked before speaking. "Heh, I guess their are some good stallions in this world after all."

The two headed downstairs, arriving in the main lobby of the library to see the Emerald reading a book as he awaited the pegasus.

"Well good morning my dear, I must apologize for coming off as a pony who preferred the same sex. I meant no disrespect." He smiled nervously toward Night.

"It's alright, I should be the one apologizing, you seemed a little feminine and uninterested. I guess I wasn't reading the signs is all." Night giggled slightly.

"May I make it up to you by taking you out for breakfast? I promise not to grab your flank unless you ask." He chuckled causing Night and Twilight to giggle.

"I think I'll take you up on your offer." She smiled.

Emerald trotted toward the door to open it, catching Night's attention as her eyes went wide looking at the stallions flank as he made his way to the door. Her entire body felt like it was on fire at the moment as the heats effect doubled in strength. She looked to Twilight giving her a death glare as she whispered to her.

"I am so going to make you pay for this stupid heat spell." She snorted before hesitantly following the stallion outside. Twilight sat there as the blood began to slowly leave her face as terror began to set in.

"Dear Celestia, I hope she doesn't mean that." Twilight groaned.

The two ponies had been walking along chatting as they made their way to a different diner on the other side of town. Night would have to go back and pay for the window in time but that event would not happen today. Upon entering the diner they were promptly seated and given a menu each. It was a slightly more fancy restaurant than the one Midnight had always visited due to the friendly atmosphere and good food. This diner seemed a little more upper crust. Although it was still open like the other diner. The two placed their orders, chatting away while they awaited the food to arrive.

"This place seems a bit more fancy than the other diner. Anything special about it?" Night asked looking to Emerald.

"This diner has a few unique items that are quite flavorful. Especially the desert menu." He smiled while eying Night.

'I knew he was going to crack eventually after hearing that comment.' Night chuckled inwardly to herself.

"What do you recommend?" She asked giving a smile.

"I prefer the cheesecake, it is quite possibly the best I have ever had." He smiled back thinking of the slice he would soon order.

"Cheese cake sounds great, I haven't had a slice in probably a couple years."

"Really? You are missing out my dear, it is probably one of the few guilty pleasures I indulge in on a regular basis." He smirked.

"Really? One of my friends have said the same thing in the past when one of her friends brought her a slice one night at a party." Night said while cocking a brow.

"Eh heh, how odd that we would say the same thing. But you know what they say, great minds think alike." He chuckled nervously seeing Nights skeptical look.

He was saved just in time as the waiter trotted up with their orders floating in front of him. Once they had been placed onto the table they began to eat while still chatting away.

"I haven't seen you in Ponyville before, are you a new resident?" Night asked while taking a sip of her drink.

"Not really, I've visited the town before, but I'm just seeing a few friends before winter rolls around. How about yourself?"

"Visiting friends seems to be the norm with us out of town ponies." She chuckled. "I'm visiting my friend Twilight who runs the local library, as well as Rarity who runs Carousel Boutique, and Applejack who owns Sweet Apple Acres." She smiled but seemed to loose her smile when speaking of Rarity. This caught Emeralds attention causing him to worry as he asked.

"You seem to be a little upset with Rarity, Anything you want to talk about in regards to her?" He asked hoping to alleviate any questions that could be resolved.

"Well, not really. I was just thinking about her fiance and what he was talking to me about her." She began. "It seems he has noticed her slight gain in weight recently and was worried about her."

"Slight weight gain my dear?" Emerald spoke as his eye twitched slightly.

"Yea, he said that when a mare finally has the stallion she is after and can pin him down with marriage she will usually start to fill out since she no longer has to keep up appearances. Shame to because Rarity is a very lovely pony. Made me wonder though why she was getting fat in the flanks." Night giggled covering her mouth. Emerald was now grinding his teeth while trying to smile and laugh with Night, but failing miserably.

"What's wrong? You seem to be a little upset. Do you know Rarity?" Night asked cocking a brow at him.

"Eh heh heh, no not really. I may have met her in my short time within Ponyville but I can't quite recall. What has your friend said about the other two?"

"Nothing much other than one is a hard working earth pony while the other was a bookworm hellbent on learning everything she can about magic. Seems a shame to me really having to spend all your time working or studying. Never really having a social life or trying to start a family of your own. He has told me himself he wouldn't mind having foals with all three of them. Possibly two or three each." She smiled at the thought causing Emerald to gawk.

"Really? Several foals each? He must be quite rich or powerful to want that. Or is he a deadbeat who is just a charmer?" Rarity smirked as Night's eye twitched slightly at the insult.

"Oh not at all, He is the only male Alicorn and a musician as well. Quite the catch really. Shame though one of his mares is getting chubby, he might just try to find another to replace her." She smirked as she finished her drink off.

By this point Emerald (Rarity in disguise) was seething with untold rage at not only being insulted, but being called fat in so many words. However, being a lady in the guise of a stallion she had to put aside the insults to continue through breakfast.

After the morning meal had been consumed, the two ponies left the diner to take a walk through the local park. They continued walking along until a trio of familiar voices was heard nearby as a frisbee found its way onto their path.

"Hey Mister! Can you toss our frisbee back?" Scootaloo shouted to them.

Emerald looked down to the frisbee picking it up with his magic as he tossed it straight causing it to flip end over end into the ground. Scootaloo and the other fillies giggled loudly seeing this, until Night stepped forward picking it up with her wing and spinning it expertly on the feather at the tip of her wing before tossing it through the air to the three fillies.

"Thanks miss! You should teach your stallion how to play, he is as bad as my sister Rarity." Sweetiebelle giggled out as they took off. Emerald giving a slight gulp as he looked nervously to Night who just smiled.

"What? I never grew up playing outdoor sports." Emerald spoke out nervously.

"It's ok, It's just that you seem to have quite a bit in common with that young fillies sister. Seems like you two would be a matching couple." She smirked.

"I thought you said she was taken by an Alicorn though." He said, stopping along the path.

"She is, but they are in an open relationship, I would be too if I had a fat flank for a fiance." She giggled causing Emerald to puff his cheeks out in anger.

"Now now, there is no need to insult somepony just from their looks." He spoke up as he tried to cool off.

"Alright, but it's not just that, she seems to be such a tight flank as well. Always acting like a snooty upper class pony, trying to woo her way into Canterlot by fitting in and snubbing off her friends that don't want to have that lifestyle. Not very generous if you ask me." She spoke out causing Emerald to literally dance in anger now as they rounded the bend of the walkway to a more secluded area of the park. They continued to walk along, veering off the beaten path into a small grove taking a seat below some trees as the wind swept by.

"Its getting rather chilly, winter will be here soon, I can just feel it." Night smiled while ruffling her wings. "I wonder if Rarity can loose any of that weight during winter though. Not many places to exercise with snow on the ground." She giggled before being bowled over by Emerald.

"That's enough now!" He shouted as his anger was now present in his voice.

"What are you doing?! Get off of me!" Night shouted up to the stallion holding her down.

"No! Not until you..." He was cut off.

"I'm warning you! Move or I'll move you!" She snarled.

"Really?! What are you going to do missy? Smack me with......" *WHACK* He was cut short as a well placed hoof found a home directly into a very vulnerable sack holding two well placed baby making devices that would now probably never work again. The face of Emerald was one to behold as it went from anger to that of complete agony in ten milliseconds flat. His mouth flew open as he fell over clutching his crush eggs of passion while a silent scream fell from his mouth.

"Serves you right jerk, trying to woo me into a false sense of security, then luring me to a secluded area to try and have your way with me." Night snorted as she took flight.

Emerald watched as the world blurred from the pain, he had been told horror stories about the pain only a male could feel but always laughed it off as merely nothing more than something relative to a sprained ankle or headache. He regretted everything he had ever said in regards to that specific terrible experience by having it hoofed to him on a silver platter first hand. He continued to lay there for almost an hour before slowly getting up and walking very unsteadily back to the library.
