BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Octavia sluggishly moved around in her bed, attempting to ignore the annoying alarm on the nightstand beside her but finally managed to raise herself up from a decent sleep, slamming her hoof down on the tiny alarm.

“Ugh how much I loathe these things” Octavia mumbled to herself.

She rubbed her eyes and slid off the bed, landing softly on the felt carpet of her bedroom. Octavia noticed how horrible of a shape the bed was in so she decided to fix it as best as she could. Once she finished, she proceeded to stretch as she normally does and when that was done, she got up to leave the room.

“I wonder if Vinyl is even awake. I seriously doubt that she is, considering that her lifestyle consists of waking up past 3pm every day.” Octavia thought to herself.

She trotted over to Vinyl’s room but instead of seeing the ordinary closed door as she usually does, she found the room to be open and went inside. There on the bed Octavia found a note that was hastily written and the bed made in a similar fashion.

“Hey Tavi good morning. I know you love leaving notes all the time so I decided to leave a note for you. You’re probably wondering where I went and that’s adorable that you do but I figured you would want a little something to eat so I went out to get some breakfast. I know I know no need to thank me Tavi. Well I hope you like eggs and stuff. Oh and how do you wake up so early every freakin’ morning? It was super hard for me; I seriously don’t know how you do it. Well anyways see ya’ soon. Love Vinyl” the note read.

Octavia slightly chuckled at Vinyl’s note, noticing the scribble on the side that resembled a penguin, Octavia’s favorite animal.

“Oh Vinyl, you even drew a penguin. How thoughtful” Octavia uttered to herself.

She then decided to get her hair ready and to make the living room appear somewhat appealing, although Vinyl made that quite difficult due to the messy couch and the jungle of wires between the game station and the T.V. Despite this, Octavia made the living room spotless and even organized some of Vinyl’s random games as best as she could. She took a breath and looked upon the living room with pride, amazed at how well she made the former catastrophe look. She put the final touches as the doorbell rang, answering the door and helping Vinyl carry in what she bought.

“Hey Vinyl how are you this wonderful morning?”

“Oh I’m good Tavi, just got some brunch for us to eat” replied Vinyl.

Vinyl laid out the food on the kitchen counter, quickly gathering what she needed to make some scrambled eggs and potatoes. Octavia looked upon Vinyl cooking the eggs and potatoes, remarking at how early Vinyl woke up.

“Oh trust me Tavi it wasn’t easy. Pfft I thought staying up all night was bad with the whole heavy eyelid situation. No it’s waking up afterwards heh.”

Both Octavia and Vinyl laughed a little and Octavia spoke, trotting next to the busy Vinyl.

“Well I really appreciate it Vinyl, I really do. However today’s all for you Vinyl and I have a little surprise for you tonight.”

Vinyl looked over to Octavia and was met by a wink and a smile. Octavia then slowly approached Vinyl and hugged her, kissing her on the cheek. Vinyl’s hoofs weren’t the only things getting hot by the sudden increase of temperature in the room as her cheeks became very cherry red.

“Woah..ok”

Octavia stopped kissing her cheek immediately, complete confusion taking over her face.

“Did I do something wrong? I’m sorry.”

Octavia looked down at the floor in embarrassment, afraid that she came on too strong. However, Vinyl shook her head no and smiled at Octavia.

“No not at all Tavi its sweet it’s just I’m cooking right now”

Octavia smirked at Vinyl and giggled slightly.

“Oh yes I almost forgot that you were. Sorry about that Vinyl.” Octavia articulated, heading over to the couch to sit down.

Unknown to Octavia, Vinyl was also surging with feelings for Octavia, silently yelling in happiness in her mind as she cooked the last bits of potato.

“I knew she had something for me like that but well, not like that! This is awesome!” Vinyl thought to herself.

She smiled broadly, finishing up the food and preparing plates for the both of them to eat. Once she was done, she headed over to the living room where Octavia was and set the plates down on the table in front of the couch.

“Do you want a drink Tavi?”

“It’s ok Vinyl I can get it myself. You’ve done enough already. It’s your day today remember silly?” Octavia teased.

Octavia got up and softly poked Vinyl when she went by her to get to the fridge. Once there, she grabbed a couple of colas and headed back to the living room, instantly poked by a revengeful Vinyl.

“Muahaha what are you going to do? This poke war shall NEVER END!” Vinyl declared.

Octavia laughed and sat down next to Vinyl, handing her a cola and turning on the T.V.

“Hey Vinyl”

“Mhmm?” mumbled Vinyl with food stuffed in her face.

“Poke. Uh oh” Octavia giggled.

Vinyl smiled at Octavia, munching on her food and gulping it down rather quickly.

“Vinyl slow down! Oh dear” Octavia chuckled.

Octavia continued eating her food while Vinyl finished hers, wiping her mouth with a spare napkin.

“You have made a grave mistake General Tavi, I shall destroy you…with love and POKES!”

Vinyl poked Octavia in the side softly, giggling rather filly-ish while doing it. Octavia never noticed how beautiful Vinyl really was, both outside and inside. Beside her outside demeanor and ragged appearance sometimes, Vinyl’s mane was always a beautiful electric blue mixed with a fluorescent cyan and her magenta eyes invoked a strange curiosity from Octavia as she wondered what else was behind those spectacular eyes. It was in this moment when Vinyl poked Octavia again that Octavia finally fell in love with Vinyl, with everything that was Vinyl, from the spontaneous behavior to the moments of thoughtfulness and ingenuity.

“Oh no you got me, I surrender General Vinyl, I surrender!” giggled Octavia.

Vinyl raised her hoof in glory and proclaimed her victory for all of DJ land, resulting in a spike of laughter from both her and Octavia.

“DJ land? Seriously?” chuckled Octavia.

“Wha-? I couldn’t come up with anything better Tavi hehe.”

Octavia smiled and continued with her food, finishing it and grabbing both of their dishes to put in the sink in the kitchen.

“So Vinyl the movie for later on doesn’t start until sometime late in the evening. We can watch some movies here real quick if you would like too and after some of them, we can go get dinner which is all on me. Sounds good?”

“Sounds good to me Tavi. Just one thing though, better keep your guard up for a poke!”

Octavia slightly giggled as she grabbed a movie and popped it into the game station, sitting back next to a relaxed Vinyl, scooting a little closer than last time and held hoofs with Vinyl. Vinyl held Octavia’s hoof back and used her magic to grab the remote, starting the movie as Octavia’s head slowly rested on Vinyl’s side.

“Well that was probably the millionth time I’ve seen that cheesy movie.”

“Tell me about it Vinyl, I would’ve thought it was directed by a mouse.”

“A mouse? Wha-? Oh I see, because I said cheesy. And you call me silly Tavi heh.”

The duo both chuckled in their laughter, slowly getting up from watching the entire The Eye of Maxon movie.

“Well the movie doesn’t start until a couple of hours from now but I would like for us to have dinner first at a restaurant” asserted Octavia.

“Ok sounds pretty good, I’ll go get ready.”

Octavia rushed over to her room, getting ready and making sure she had everything on including her make-up and earrings. When she was done, she waited by Vinyl’s room door, fumbling with her hoofs in anticipation.

“I’m almost ready just hold on.”

Octavia could hear Vinyl trotting back and forth and at one point she even heard what sounded like Vinyl tripping on something.

“Vinyl are you ok?”

“Yeah I’m good Tavi, just getting myself all ready and stuff.”

Octavia grimaced, hoping that Vinyl didn’t hurt herself but her question was answered as Vinyl’s door swung open, revealing a sparkling and unhurt Vinyl.

“Oh my Celestia, you look wonderful Vinyl! You’re so pretty!”

Vinyl’s cheeks became rosy, her mane dancing around when she looked over to Octavia.

“I’m glad you think so, I tried really hard doing all this.”

Vinyl smiled, revealing her beautiful teeth and sparkling attitude, her mane shining with blue twinkling glitter. It was almost amazing how a tomboy like Vinyl could look so pretty, almost a miracle even, but it definitely captivated Octavia’s heart.

“Well let’s go get dinner then.” Vinyl exclaimed.

Octavia smiled and led Vinyl out the door, the both of them trotting together heading towards Luigi’s Café. Once they arrived at the café, they took a seat by a window and were greeted by a most friendly waiter who handed the duo menus.

“Hi my name is Danielle and I will be serving you today. What can I get you?”

Vinyl and Octavia looked at the menus, Vinyl ordering first and Octavia second. The waitress nodded her headed, confirming the orders and quickly left to get them out as soon as possible.

“Wow Tavi this place is really cool. Pretty freakin’ awesome.”

It was hard for Octavia to believe that such a beautiful pony would be talking so commonly but that was Vinyl and Octavia loved every bit of her.

“It is pretty nice, yes. The waitress is very nice and I heard the food is excellent here.”

“Alright can’t wait to try it out!”

Both Octavia and Vinyl waited eagerly for the food, the both of them getting lost in each other’s eyes. Finally the spell was broken when the waitress came around again, with both of their orders ready.

“Ok here is your dish ma’am and for the princess-“

“Princess? Where?” Vinyl interrupted, looking around the café for the princess.

Octavia slightly snickered to herself as the waitress gave a look of confusion at Vinyl, clearly mistaking the unicorn for a regal princess. Finally Vinyl realized who the waitress was addressing and slightly chuckled.

“Oh me? Oh no no I’m not a princess and don’t really want to be one per say. Although that would kinda be cool. I’m flattered really hehe.”

“My apologies ma’am I’m sorry. Please do let me know if there is anything else that I can get for you.”

The duo thanked the waitress and started to eat their food. Vinyl almost burped loudly after finishing half of her food but kept it in, trying to impress Octavia with her ‘mare-like’ manners. However that was short-lived as her ‘wubbyness’ seeped through, her un-mannered eating habits nearly gaining the attention of the entire café. Pretty soon, Vinyl eliminated what was on her plate while Octavia barely got half-way.

“Vinyl that was rather quick. I guess you really were hungry?”

“Yeah I was STARVING Tavi heh. Anyways Tavi what movie are we watching? Something action-y? Yes?”

Octavia finished what she was chewing on and nodded her head, then proceeded to speak.

“Yes it’s called The Golden City of Aviania. It’s about an explorer pony discovering the ancient fabled city the legends spoke of.”

“Sounds pretty awesome, can’t wait to watch it with you.”

Vinyl smiled at Octavia, who smiled right back at her and quietly finished what was left of her food. The duo got up and left a tip at the table, heading to the front of the café to pay. Octavia paid for the dinner and the duo left the café, heading over to the local cinema in town. Once they were there, Octavia bought two tickets for the movie and the duo headed inside the building.

“Theater 9...where is Theater 9? These theaters are always a puzzle to me” expressed Octavia.

“Let’s see…hmm..oh look Tavi right there!” replied Vinyl, pointing her hoof to their right.

A dim 9 sign flickered on the other side of the main lobby, indicating that Theater 9 was located at the faint neon sign.

“I guess you’re right Vinyl. Alrighty let’s go over there.”

The duo headed towards Theater 9, Octavia opening the door for Vinyl and the two of them heading up the theater’s stairs until the both of them found good enough seats for them to see the movie.

“These seats are pretty comfortable Tavi and they’re kinda bouncy too” Vinyl said aloud, playing around with the seat she was in rather filly-ish.

“Vinyl! Shhsh!” whispered Octavia, smiling at Vinyl being so adorable.

“Ok hehe” whispered Vinyl back.

The lights in the theater dimmed down as the movie started, both Octavia and Vinyl holding hoofs next to each other.

“Tavi that movie was…FREAKIN’ AWESOME!!!”

Vinyl chuckled loudly as the duo exited the building, Vinyl throwing her hoofs in the air in awe of the movie.

“It was ‘freakin’ awesome’, wasn’t it?”

Vinyl nodded her head and trotted next to Octavia, almost jumping on her and giving her a hug, wrapping her hoofs around Octavia’s chest and shoulders.

“Thank you for this Octavia, I really enjoyed it. It was really awesome and I had lots of fun with you today.”

Octavia looked over her shoulder to Vinyl and smiled, greeted by a smiling Vinyl with her eyes closed in delight.

“I told you I would pay you back didn’t I?” Octavia said.

“Yeah you sure did! I wub you Tavi!” Vinyl replied.

Octavia blushed a bit and kissed Vinyl on the mouth gently.

“I wub you too.”

The duo softly laughed with one another as they headed back to the house, holding hoofs together and appreciating the romantic light of the moon overhead.
