Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It was just another normal day, well as normal as you can get when you're a statue that is. Being a statue isn't at all like one would think. I was not asleep, yet neither was I really fully aware. Sure I could see and understand what was going on in the outside world but only to a certain extent. Time also appeared to move faster as a statue as opposed to when I was free. All in all it wasn't particularly unpleasant, nor was it fun.

Oh, sorry I was rambling, I should probably introduce myself first. My name is Daniel Lowath, though I'm mostly known as Dan, or rather, I was. I stand at 5'7", my hair is a deep hazelnut brown, and my eyes are a jade green color. Back home I used to be a pretty average guy, nothing I particularly excelled at, but nothing I particularly was bad at either. Pretty boring, I know, but then 4000 years ago my life changed drastically.

One minute I was walking down the street to school and the next I'm in the lion's den, literally. I thought for sure that manticore was going to eat me until I found out about my newly found magic powers. Let me tell you, not exactly the proudest moment of my life, one second I was pissing my pants because I thought I was going to die, the next I was pissing my pants because I thought I would make myself spontaneously combust.

Anyways enough about that, let's move onto what's happening right now, which would be the leylines of the spell keeping me a statue shattering. One second I was a statue the next I found myself fumbling as my prison fell apart before I fell straight on my face. Once again, not one of my proudest moments.

As I got up I rubbed my sore nose, and wondered exactly what had just happened, but then again that might be pushing my luck so I decided to let it slide. After all someone, or rather somepony, had some explaining to do. With a nod of my head I started to make my way out of the gardens and into the castle grounds proper. Of course someone like me doesn't just go unnoticed and I was ambushed by a group of guards almost immediately.

"Halt!" one commanded, "Who and what are you?"

"My name's Daniel, I'm a human." I replied.

"And what exactly are your intentions "human"?" he questioned.

"I have some business I need to finish with Celestia." I said, cracking my knuckles, "Now if you would be so kind as to move out of my way I won't have to harm you."

"Is that a threat?" he asked, his eyes narrowing.

"No, it's a promise." I told him.

"Very well then," he said, "Attack!" At his command the other four guards hefted their spears at me and charged. I quickly side stepped the two in the front before grabbing one of their spears with my magic. Before the guard could react I yanked it over to myself and used it to parry an oncoming blow from another of the guards before using the blunt end to brain him, leaving him unconscious.

Quickly side-stepping another swipe I kicked a second guard in the head, leaving him unconscious as well. The other three seemed to wisen up and grouped back together. As a group they charged at me, two in the front, one in the back. I retaliated by charging towards them before, at the last second, I did a power slide under their spears. As I was going I reached out and grabbed the first two by their back legs, causing them to trip, before I leaned back upwards, headbutting the third guard knocking him out.

With that done I grabbed the two final downed guards by the heads and slammed them together, leaving all 5 of the guards unconscious. "Well I did warn them." I said before carrying on my merry way. I reached the front of the castle without further incident, but two guards were stationed by the entrance. Not wanting to waste too much time I bludgeoned them with the blunt end of a spear I had brought with me before continuing into the castle.

I wondered into a few guards, all of them getting the same treatment, before I finally found what I had been looking for. Two large, intricate doors that no doubt lead to the throne room. "Celestia." I growled before planting the spear I had taken into the marble of the castle, I wanted to do this with my own hands. Finally, taking a deep breath, I planted a hand on each door and slammed them open. Looking up I spotted exactly what I had came for.

There, on a throne of gold, sat the one who had imprisoned me all those thousands of years, Celestia. "Hello my little pony," she said, looking up from a document, "What can I-" As soon as she saw me the words in her throat died and her eyes became as wide as saucers. Immediately all the guards that had been lining the carpet leading to the throne stood in front of me, their spears at the ready.

Not caring much about anything else I used my magic to suspend all the guards in the air as I walked across the carpet towards Celestia. I stopped right in front of the throne and looked at Celestia before I spoke, "I have one thing to say to you." Celestia flinched as I reared back my arm, "Four thousand years!" I roared as I put all my anger, all my hatred into that one punch. When it connected it sent Celestia flying into the wall, destroying a good layer of marble.

I merely stared with disinterest as my bloody pulp of a hand regenerated before giving it a few test clenches to make sure it worked. I now turned to look at Celestia as she stood up from the rubble, one of her wings at an odd angle before it snapped back into place, healing almost instantaneously.

As I looked at her my gaze was no longer one of hatred or rage, but one of sorrow and pain. My voice cracked as I asked the only thing that I could think of, "Why?"
