Chapter 1: The Rising Sun, The Setting Moon, and The Coming Storm

The city of Canterlot, capitol city of Equestria, land of the Ponies. Equestria was ruled by two princesses. The elder princess was named Celestia, and it was her job to raise and lower the sun each day The younger princess was named Luna, and she was in charge of raising and lowering the moon. The two sisters had only recently been reunited by the power of six brave ponies and the elements of Harmony they controlled, and now they ruled the pieceful land of Equestria together.Our story begins with the Elder Princess, Celestia. It was a warm, mid-spring night. All the windows in the glorious palace she and her sister called home were open, allowing the breeze to flow through the entire building. In her chambers in the highest spire of the castle, Princess Celestia slept peacefully. Celestia was a beautiful mare, with a brilliant white coat, multi-colored mane and tail, large wings and a powerful horn. On the sides of her rump was her Cutie Mark, an image of the blazing sun, symbolizing her control of the sun. She rested her elogant head on her pillows, her breathing calm and slow. She was dreaming of her time as a filly, so many years ago.

As she slumbered, blissfully unaware of her surroundings, the air in her room was still. Too still. The wind was blowing ever so gently outside, but it did not so much as breathe in her room. The air became thick and stale, and the stench of rot began to fill the room from an inexplicable source. The smell infiltrated Celestia's nostrils, and forced her awake. She sat up in bed, her eyesight blurry with sleep. As her vision cleared, there was a sound of rushing air, and a miniture tornado formed in her room, sending her possession flying. She jumped to her hooves, her horn glowing with magical energy, all traces of tiredness gone from her body. The twister dissipated, revealing a very tall black stallion, a good foot tall than Celestia. The stallion glared menacingly at Celestia, his long black mane rippling behind him. He suddenly charged, faster than anything Celestia had seen before, and slammed her into the wall. There was a huge crash as her body hit, then slide to the floor in a heap.

As Celestia was on the verge of blacking out, the stallion came close, placed his gigantic hooves on her chest, and started to shake her. "Celestia," he said, his voice sounding extremely high-pitched for a male horse. "Celestia, Celestia, wake up Celestia!" he repeated, shaking her more.

Princess Celestia opened her eyes, and saw her younger sister standing over her, shaking her body with her hooves, looking slightly annoyed. "Come on Sister, you are late to raise the sun!" Princess Luna said, shaking her a final time before walking over to the window. "Where is he, did you see him?" Celestia asked, looking frightened as she sat up and looked around her room. Everything was in it's proper place, and there was no sign of the black Stallion ever being there. "Who was there to see? Nobody is here but you and your royal snorring! Now get up, you're late raising the sun!" Luna snapped. She spread her wings, and flew off out of the open window and into the night. Celestia sighed, getting out of bed and placing her crown on her head. "Thank goodness, it was just a dream," she said, looking into her mirror as she brushed her mane lightly. She briefly glaced up into the reflection of the area behind her, and saw the horrible black horse standing directly behind her, his black mane and tail billowing behind him like an evil cape.

Celestia gasped, and spun around. There was nopony there. Celestia nervously shook her head, then flew out the window after her sister to raise the sun, and usher in the day. Oh how I wish I could have warned of her of the things to come, and soon, my dear reader, you will wish you could have warned her, and all of Equestria, of the coming storm.

Chapter 2: A Skyborn Surprise

It was a gorgeous day in the small town of Ponyville. The sky was cloudless, the grass was green, and there was not a care in the world. In the library of the quiant town, Twilight Sparkle was preparing for a day of hanging out with her girl friends. Twilight Sparkle was a unicorn pony from Canterlot. Sent to Ponyville by Princess Celestia to make friends and ultimately defeat the dreaded Nightmare Moon, she now lived in her paradise with her dragon companion, Spike. Twilight had a purple coat, with a mane and tail of the same color and a darker purple. Her horn was still short, the right size for a pony of her age. Today was a special day for her. For her and her friends' roles in taking care of the vile fiend known as Discord, Princess Celestia had invited her and her friends to come to Canterlot for a personal tour, with her and Princess Luna guiding them.

"Today is going to be fantastic!" Twilight said, excited to be able to surprise her friends. She trotted around her house, anxiously awaiting everyone's arrival. "I can't believe that we are going to be able to go back home," Spike said, gathering up some food and placing it into Twilight's saddle bags. "Me too! We're going to be able to see the museums and libraries and.." "And all the awesome snack shops!" finished Spike, licking his lips hungrily.Suddenly, there was a sound of many hooves gallopping past Twilight's home. She quickly ran to the door, opening it mid-stride. Every pony in Ponyville was making a mad dash toward the road that led into town.

One of them saw Twilight standing in her doorway, looking very confused, and skidded to a halt. This pony was all pink in color, with poofy pink mane and tail. Her eyes were wide, with a goofy grin on her face as she bounced around in front of Twilight. "Hey Twilight, whatcha doing?" Pinkie Pie asked. "I'm wondering what's going on here," Twilight responded, "Where is everybody going?" "Beats me, I just heard them saying something about a new pony in town, and he's apparently really good-looking or something. Hey, if there's a new pony in town, I need to throw him a welcome party!!" And with that, Pinkie Pie ran off into the stampede and disappeared.

"Spike, I'm going to go see the new pony. You stay here and finish getting everything ready," Twilight said, taking off out the door and joining the crowd thundering away. "But I-!" Spike tried to say, but the door had already closed.

Out at the edge of town, it looked like a rainbow-colored tornado was spinning around and around in the sky. Every pony was gathered around the base of the mid-air cyclone, eyes wide with amazement.

All of the suddenly, all of the colors except red were knocked clean out of the cyclone, and a pegasus pony was sent hurtling towards the ground. The blue coated, rainbow-maned pony managed to right herself at the last second, and landed on her feet. Twilight made her way through the crowd, and soon she found her friends Rarity, Apple Jack, and Fluttershy. "Hey girls, what's going on here?" she asked, looking around. "We're all watchin' Rainbow Dash try to take on that new pony in town," Applejack said, guesturing to the fire-engine red twister. "There's a pony in that?" Twilight asked, looking bewildered.

"Well, up untill a minute ago there were two ponies in that," Rarity said, pointing to were Rainbow Dash stood on the ground, looking shocked. The mid-air cyclone slowed and dissipated, revealing a very handsome horse. He stood tall, not as tall as a full-grown stallion, but certainly taller than all the ponies assembled. His long mane and tail were a brilliant crimson in color, while his coat and wings were white as snow. His eyes were a lighter red in color, and on his hind leg was a red medical cross Cutie Mark. He decended out of the sky, landing next to Rainbow Dash while the crowd cheered and appluaded.

"I gotta hoof it to ya', that was so sweet flying you got there dude!" Dash said, a smile spreading on her face. "Well thank you, Rainbow Dash," the pony said, shaking out his mane and smiling back at her, "you are one heck of a speed demon! I can't wait to go another round with you." Dash blushed, then looked back at her friends. "Hey guys, come over here and meet him," she called, waving them over.

"Well Howdy partner," Applejack said as they made there way toward him, "I'm Applejack!" "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir," Rarity said, "My name is Lady Rarity, but you can call me Rarity." "Uhmmm....hi...I'm...Fluttershy...," Fluttershy whispered, hiding behind her mane. "And I'm Twilight Sparkle," said Twilight Sparkle, extending a hoof, "Welcome to Ponyville!" "Thank you all for the warm greetings," he said, shaking Twilight's hoof and nodding to each of them in turn, "My name is Red Cross, or R.C. for short. I'm here to take over as the new medical pony at the hospital."

"All right everypony, it's time for a party!" came a shout from the back of the crowd. Everypony turned and saw Pinkie Pie dressed up like a cake and bouncing around happily. "Time to party for the new pony! Let's go!" Everypony cheered, and followed her into the town center, which was now decked-out in ribbons and balloons, with cakes and candy everywhere. "She seems like she knows how to party," laughed R.C., and went off with the girls to meet everypony in his new home.
