Yonder Wandered Fluttershy
Chapter 109: 109
Previous Chapter Next Chapter“Something has upset the future.” A pair of watchful eyes would be sending a team to Nerima to deal with the problem; usually this team had no problem solving skills beyond killing monsters.
If only those eyes realized that the future was upset because she sent that particular team there in the first place, hindsight and all that was going to come back to bit her.
-
Five figures beamed in into an alleyway, they stood there for a few seconds to get their bearings. Across the street from them a large monkey shaped machine burst out of a garage backwards. A monkey wearing a white lab coat and a strange helmet with a flashing red light on it was driving the machine.
Out of the garage a figure wearing grey garb and an orange scarf rushed forward and looked to multiply into three while holding what looked like a blue bar in a reverse grip in his right hand. The machine tried to smash him and he leapt forward with his two obviously fake clones on second look and started striking at the machine while dodging its laser fire and missiles.
After a few seconds of attacks from the ninja and his really bad fake clones, the machine exploded dropping the monkey who started making a run for it only to get entrapped in a net and where it immediately disappeared before Fluttershy’s eyes in a flash of light.
“I got him professor, I’m coming back now. Is Spike still hunting the gunners?” The ninja garbed human suddenly dropped the transformation to reveal an average looking blue haired teenager. “Right, I’m on my way, Specter is not going to cause trouble with us on the job!”
The kid pulled out a green device and ran forward while swinging his arm and on one upward swing the device launched him into the air where he glided off into the distance with a vibrant glowing propeller rapidly spinning above him.
“How long have we been here?” Fluttershy asked having seen something so bizarre that it was breaking her mental capability to put it into words.
“Oh for about ten seconds and yes I think I saw all that too.” Foxglove said in a dazed tone from atop Fluttershy’s head.
Before they could recover and move a turtle with a jets coming out of its butt and hind legs flew by. It stopped, came back and threw it’s flippers around Fluttershy and started to snuggle her while cooing affectionately.
It remembered Fluttershy from when it was still a spirit turtle, now a mechanical marvel filled with love. It soon it released Fluttershy and shot off for the apartment complex it lived in to tell its friends, the other spirit turtles that were freed from their torment.
“Okay I think we really need to…” Fluttershy was quickly interrupted.
“Doraemon wait for me!” A human kid with glasses ran by running after a strange blue humanoid machine that was wearing a collar and belle, they were running from a giant blob monster that bounced after them down the street.
“I think we really need to move on before…” Fluttershy stopped and looked around to make sure nothing would interrupt her this time. “Before things can…”
“Where the heck am I now?” A man with a black and yellow spotted bandana looking at a map complained, he turned into the alley with them and disappeared from sight suddenly within the blink of everyone’s eyes.
“Was that a hallucination?” Fluttershy just had to ask because her sanity was getting thoroughly challenged and they just got here.
-
“Well I think that’s perfectly fine.” Today was going pretty well for Celestia and suddenly a human being walked out from behind her throne holding a map.
“Excuse me, but could you direct me to Nerima again?” This was the same person that Fluttershy had just seen seconds ago.
“Hold on my little ponies. Yes, just wander around in an aimless direction out the front door, you can’t miss it.” Celestia knew of the existence of humans just because she’s met this particular human multiple times. He was always getting so lost and for once he actually appeared in front of other ponies aside from her sister, so she knew she wasn’t crazy because they could see him too.
“Okay, thank you again ma’am.” Then the one known as Ryoga Hibiki turned around and would disappear back behind the throne to never be seen again for a whole week.
“Who or what was that your highness?” Asked a pony in clear confusion as to how long that being had been behind her throne.
“It’s nothing to worry about, just a well traveled being me and Luna happen to be well acquainted with. It’s best just to give him directions even if they are the wrong ones and he’ll eventually find his way back to where he comes from. To be frank with everyone, even I don’t know how he does it but he disappears as soon as he’s out of sight.” Celestia knew he was an alien, but keeping hold of the wandering guy who disappeared at the drop of a pin was really hard. The one time she placed a tracking spell on him gave her a headache. She really wanted to introduce him to Discord who has been really nice lately and more intrigued by the chaos going on elsewhere. “He just popped out of one of my cakes once with no recollection to how he got inside it the first time I saw him, he’s quite harmless even if he’s always a nice surprise. He’s a bit angst ridden though.”
-
Fluttershy carefully stepped out of the alleyway looking both left and right while trying not to pay attention to the recently destroyed machine that was left behind.
“So, ‘Insanity Ward’?” Turning to the winged puppy who nodded at her, Bonnie sighed and turned back and continued to move forward onto the sidewalk. “Yeah, let’s go. I’ll find a bank so I can exchange some money so you can get your fix, because I doubt I’ll ever want to come back here again.”
“That sounds good to me.” As long as she was getting some Manga out of it, Donnabelle didn’t care if they weren’t coming back.
-
It was an hour or two later and nobody seemed to mind their little group; instead they were relatively ignored as they entered a bank so Bonnie could exchange some money. Things were going pretty well, the people were rather congenial about the five strange beings doing business with them. It wasn’t until after they got the money and were buying fruit at a stand for Soft Echo that they were suddenly accosted by five girls.
“Halt vile fiends!” One of the five saw five girls in schoolgirl outfits pointed them out and the other humans gave them all dull looks and moved out of the way of what would likely be a ensuing fight and went about their business. The girl was a little put off that nobody here seemed to be reacting to her presence like they did in the nearby area of Azabu-Juban area. “For Love and Justice, I am the pretty sailor suited soldier Sailor Moon! In the name of the moon I shall punish you!”
“Punish us for what?” Bonnie asked flatly, she wasn’t impressed by five schoolgirls in magical costumes.
“For whatever it is your doing! Look that little creature is draining the life out of that piece of fruit.” The girl with the two long strands of hair hanging out of the two buns on the sides of her head pointed to Soft Echo softly sucking the life out of the fruit. They watched as she consumed the rest of the fruit by chewing on the remains while looking around at the five girls, two of which were enamored by her cute squeaking bat noise.
“Is that really a crime? I mean they did pay for the fruit in the first place and the little one does look really hungry.” The fruit selling person even wondered what Sailor Moon was doing here of all places.
“Uh, surely that puppy isn’t natural and an evil being of the greatest sort!” Sailor Moon was beginning to get stares from the people and they didn’t look happy with her, what was happening here?
“Actually I was going to go by a manga store to buy some graphic novels. Besides that I’m half angel, so there you go. So what if I’m unnatural to you, I have the right to live just as anyone else does.” Even as she said this, Donnabelle for once acted affectionately towards Soft Echo earning her a happy squeak in return for a big hug. “Would you even really hurt a child as innocent as she is? Seriously what is wrong with you?”
“Yes, but you’re also half youma… how does that even work?” The girl with the short blue hair was looking over her computer getting scans of each being; the puppy was the only one with dark and light energy coursing through her. “The bat, the filly and small horse seem to have magical energies, but they aren’t giving off any dark energy readings. I can honestly say that none of them seem to be from the dark kingdom.”
“It just does and isn’t that another word for demon? Anyway, yes I’m also half demon, but I’m not evil.” Crossing her legs over her chest as Donna sat up and gave them an angry glare.
“You’re a talking dog with youma powers, how can you not be evil!” The girl in the red colors with the long black hair exclaimed and the other girls agreed, except for the one with the short blue hair who seemed to be the most intelligent out of all of them.
“Oh now you’re all just racial profiling just because I’m half demon! You hear that everyone these girls are bigots just because I’m a mixed breed!” A black cat ran up to the girls earning Donnabelle’s attention, but she didn’t move from her spot to chase down the obviously abnormal cat.
“Um Sailor Moon, I don’t think you’re doing the right thing here.” The cat said in a bit of an apprehensive manner.
“Oh so a talking cat with a moon shaped object on her forehead is completely normal! Seriously I don’t see you getting on to her case because she’s odd and out of place.” A lot of the crowd was surprisingly agreeing with Donnabelle on this sentiment.
Fluttershy just sat by looking to Bonnie who shrugged as it seemed their puppy had it under control; she turned to see Soft Echo just went back to eating the new tasty fruit as she watched the action.
“Yeah, not to mention the cat they have with them is an alien who has likely been illegally living in this country for a while now. Even I have a passport to be here and I’m actually an American citizen.” Not to mention Bonnie could speak fluent Japanese and was going to help the puppy with this situation, she did legally enter the country thanks to some help from the alien embassy and Atomic Betty’s connection to Kim Possible. She knew the cat was an alien because she knew what a native of the planet Mau was and looked like; the cat was definitely not a normal one.
“I was born in Japan, even if my race does come from elsewhere. By the way I’m Luna.” The cat introduced herself to them with a smile.
“I’m Jookiba Bonnie and it is nice to meet you Luna-chan, but I have to ask if both your parent’s were foreigners?” There was a bit of a sing song lilt in Bonnie’s accented voice.
“Yes, but what does that have to do with… oh dear.” Luna the cat suddenly had a panicked look in her eyes and her ears went down.
“What’s that all about?” It was like the cat looked like she swallowed a lemon and Donna wanted to know what the issue was.
“Japanese law makes it so that if both your parents were foreigners you’re not immediately a citizen of Japan if you are born here and it applies to all intelligent beings which the cat here is. She has just ousted herself to everyone here.” If there was one thing Bonnie knew it was the law of the land in any place she went to, it was so that she could evade things in court using various loopholes. Her ability to evade things did translate into court cases strangely enough and she could have been a pretty good lawyer. “So… hey everyone these girls are known accomplices to an illegal alien! The fact they know about her and haven’t done a single thing about it is rather suspicious isn’t it?”
The sailor soldiers were caught flat footed by the statement and that the entire crowd was on Bonnie and Donnabelle’s side glaring them down. Sailor Moon slowly, with a rather sheepish smile, picked up the talking black cat and then ran off to be slowly followed by the other sailor soldiers who looked confused for a moment before booking it after their leader.
“Really Bonnie, was that all necessary?” Fluttershy just shook her head, it wasn’t like things were bizarre enough already. She looked at all the crowd focusing on them and gave a slightly weak smile. “Um, thank you everyone, for helping us out that is.”
A lot of the people in the crowd said it was no problem and then set about their business like nothing happened, a few of them commented that they never thought that Sailor Moon could be so mean as to accost a family of tourists even if they were highly different from humans in appearance. A small few were making comments on how they were going to spread the fact that Sailor Moon was doing illegal things outside of her job of demon fighting.
“Eh, I thought it was worthwhile Fluttershy. Now let’s go drop the pup, kid and bat off at the nearest book store so we can begin asking around for where the convention is taking place so we can find either one of my brothers more importantly the one that is hopefully still in stasis here in crazy town.” Bonnie and Donnabelle were the only ones who could actually read the language so the ones in their group needed a designated reader with them at all times.
“I’m okay with that. Just so long as those girls don’t bother us again, they were full of unstable elemental magic and it scares me what kind of potential they all had.” It really freaked Foxglove out how powerful those girls were, she was quite thankful that things didn’t come to blows and it was settled peacefully in a relative manner.
-
It was thirty minutes later after they found a book store that found Fluttershy and Bonnie leaving the dog, bat and filly trio to their own devices. Hopefully Foxglove would keep them out of trouble. The two set out wandering around Nerima seeing so many odd occurrences it was hard to understand why everyone was trying so hard to ignore them.
“It’s like Beach City all over again.” The pony couldn’t help it, she looked around at all the big buildings and the city was just amazing. That wasn’t counting the fact that Fluttershy was also seeing so many strange occurrences every minute or so in a rampant manner.
“Yeah, which is kind of cool since Hawaii is like this about my family. Anywhere else and we’d be captured to be dissected on an operation table all while still being conscious.” Stopping Bonnie gave Fluttershy an apologetic look as she shivered uncontrollably. “Oh right, sorry about that Fluttershy. That was a bit callous of me to bring up the fact that you’ve been strapped to a table twice.”
“It’s okay Bonnie. We should really stop to ask for directions though, this place is so big.” Fluttershy would never like living near a city, even visiting Manehatten was kind of a problem for her and it wasn’t as nearly packed with as many ponies as this place was with people. Looking around she saw a guy with his hair braided lazily walking along a fence wearing black and red clothing, she thought it looked dangerous and the human looked to know his way around. “Um, excuse me.”
Despite her soft voice the guy had heard her and with an impressive leap, he jumped off the fence with several flips and twirls to land in front of Bonnie and Fluttershy.
“Hey, did either of you by any chance happen to meet my father some time the in past? Please don’t tell me he forcefully contracted me out to aliens too, I’m so glad that Lum didn’t become interested in me.” He asked this question before they could ask theirs. “I’m Saotome Ranma, sorry about having to meet me.”
“I’m uh… is Shy Flutter the right way to say it? Also this is Jookiba Bonnie, anyway no, we haven’t met you’re father and why would you be forcefully contracted to someone? That doesn’t sound very nice.” The strange guy in front of them seemed to visibly relax, however what Fluttershy said never caused him to tense up again. “We were actually going to ask for directions.”
“To where exactly are you heading?” Ranma looked really frightened by what their answer would be; his mind was obviously going through tons of scenarios even if the little horse thing sounded a lot like someone he knew.
“We’re looking for a martial arts, anime and science fiction convention here in Nerima, I hear that one of my brothers was attending and I need his help to find my other brother who was taken by sumo ninja. We’ve tracked them down to here in Japan.” Bonnie wasn’t about to tell this Ranma that the sumo ninja might have mistaken her brother for a smoke bomb as that would have taken along winded explanation that would have required them to print their pamphlets in Japanese. “Otherwise we’re just tourists and kind of lost, heck I doubt that we’ll be able to find Flutter’s kid, dog and our little friend at this rate as we’re just that lost.”
“I know I’m going to regret this later, but how about I help you out? A martial arts convention sounds like my kind of thing, but I doubt there will be anyone there nearly as tough as the crazy people I live with on a daily basis.” Ranma for once was inviting himself to the trouble, he didn’t know whether or not this was a smart idea, but he was going to end up helping these strangers either way. In any case he was always up for helping strangers and getting into fights, even if it’s in a tournament. “Come on; if there is anything interesting happening I’ll know who to go to for information.”
“Is there any place with a nice park around here. I have a special talent with animals and I kind of want to connect some with the local population of cute little critters.” Fluttershy started to follow after this Ranma as he led them along the sidewalk.
“Don’t see a problem with that, but I’m not exactly one to commune with nature very well… especially c-c-c-c-furry little demons. I had a rather unhappy childhood because of my father and I’ll explain to you on the way to the Tendo Dojo, because goodness knows they are going to drag me to this convention the minute I ask about it. Why anyone would want to hold a convention in Nerima is beyond me.” Especially when Ranma was part of the well labeled Nerima Wrecking Crew, most of the time it wasn’t his fault that things happened. The natural disaster budget was big because of his friends and what could be more natural then martial artists trained to toss around stupidly powerful spiritual attacks?
“Were you trying to say cats?” Watching as the guy look around in a panic Fluttershy wondered why that set him off. “Are you okay?”
“S-sure, it’s just that when I was younger my father wrapped me in fish and threw me into a pit full of the starving monsters then he covered it with a boulder so I could learn some fancy martial arts technique.” For Ranma it was getting easier to tell people why he had a problem with ferocious felines, especially to the now rightfully horrified Bonnie and Fluttershy.
“I’m guessing that your father is not in custody and has had problems with child services.” Bonnie could tell Fluttershy stories about Jumba’s negligence, even then she still liked her father.
“I wish, he actually outran the statute of limitations during all that and only got arrested for about a fourth of his crimes multiple times. Heck he’s even freeloading at the place I’m staying at, which is sadly where we’re going. So just a warning, don’t try to get in the way of whatever happens when we arrive. I will of course be taking any of the hits meant for you; sometimes my friends don’t know their own strengths and have surprisingly yet to kill an intelligent being like I was forced to.” From the way Ranma told it, it sounded like he lived in a highly abusive home.
“That sounds just horrible, how were you forced to kill someone?” At this point Fluttershy just wanted to understand and wouldn’t blame Ranma for extenuating circumstances. It sounded like he experienced that a lot in life by the way he greeted them with a preemptive apology for him meeting them.
“Well I did kill him; it was just that he didn’t stay dead for long. You see it was this guy named Saffron who was from this race of people who are called Phoenixes and it involved me blowing up a mountain in China, it’s really quite a long story.” It was rather strange that Ranma didn’t hear any of the girls charging after him or attacking him, for some reason he felt as if he was missing all the chaos. Ranma immediately destroyed that last thought with extreme prejudice as he was welcoming some quiet time after the last debacle, even if it had to be with these two strangers.
“I’m sure we’ll have enough time to hear about it, because you sound like you need a really good friend.” And friendship was all Fluttershy would offer to one Saotome Ranma, he would be eternally grateful for it too. She stopped and held out a hoof to him. “I can’t even begin to imagine what your life is like if you think you’re going to be attacked the moment you step through the door to the house you’re living in. I wouldn’t exactly call it a home, because home is where the heart is and my home is with any of the friends I have made. I hope that we can become good friends Ranma.”
Ranma winced at hearing the offer of friendship, but he shook her hoof anyway because she sounded quite sincere about it.
Next Chapter: 110 Estimated time remaining: 2 Hours, 12 MinutesAuthor's Notes:
Before you get mad at me, my previous authors note is quite literal in more than one way.
"I will assure you, it will be the most boring collection of chapters ever, of all time."
I didn't say who it would be boring for, I have to write all of this you know and I don't have any proofreaders. I do this all by myself as I'm a one monster writing machine.
"There is nothing interesting about Nerima. So you can ignore the giant robots, gender and species changing humans, robot cats with inanely weird gadgets, monsters from the internet, spirit detectives, alien princesses, sailor senshi and or demonic creatures running around."
Because the reality of it is, the actual Nerima could be boring despite being the birthplace of anime. You 'can' ignore all the stuff running around in this chapter, but Fluttershy really can't having to be there personally to see it all.
"They will most certainly not be appearing all at the same time or will run afoul of each other or Fluttershy."
Quite literally, Fluttershy will not do anything foul to them and they won't be appearing in one big clump or attacking each other out of the blue, they will however be appearing one at a time. The not running afoul part means that Fluttershy can still definitely run afoul of them.
Things seen this chapter, Ape Escape, Love Hina (Mecha-Tama, all those spirit turtles Fluttershy freed from their imprisonment had to go somewhere), Doraemon, Sailor Moon and Ranma 1/2. Minor mention of Urusei Yatsura, where Lum has actually met Ranma and didn't care much forhim.
Welcome to the 'Insanity Ward' Fluttershy! We've been expecting you.
Also semantics is fun.
